Blue's Clues Alphabet Book for Gameboy Color FAQ/Walkthrough By Mykas0 version 1.0 31-7-2006 BE SURE TO READ THIS FIRST PART! You can read this faq as long as you don't change ANY part of it (including this small introduction). Also, you can print it but only for use at your home, you may NEVER sell this stuff or else you will make me really mad and maybe I won't work anymore! Finally, if you want to use this faq on your site (or use any part of it for other things, like writing your own faq or something) you have to mail me and ask me for it, I will almost surely grant it to you! Meh, one day I woke up in the morning and I was watching some TV. Eventually I've seen this show, and I was wondering if there were any games based in it. Since there were, I gave them a try and now I felt like writing this. Yep, the game is for kids SO little that I even doubt that ANYONE will actually read this FAQ, but at least... it was fun, for a bit! <_< 0~. Getting Started When the game starts, you simply have to press A or START to get into the main menu, where you will see several characters from the series. Depending on who you click, you'll be taken into different games, which will be stated in the next sections. Each section has the name of the character you need to click in order to play that game, and this is easily understood if you've ever seen the series. Apart from this small note, I must also state that you can always quit your current task by pressing START, which will take you to the main menu, where you can see all the characters and stuff. 1.1~. Side Table Drawer By clicking the "Side Table Drawer", you'll be taken into a mini-game where you simply need to mime the sequences which you just heard. Those are usually quite easy, as there aren't even any problems if you miss a particular key (you won't need to repeat anything or start over). You'll start by having to follow at least 2 notes, and eventually you will reach a point where you may need to follow 6 of those. There's no problem in doing it, but bear in mind that this option has no end, i.e. you'd be able to play it forever, until you get tired of it. 1.2~. Baby Bear When clicking the "Baby Bear", you'll be taken to a mini-game where you need to let a leaf, with the letter currently shown in the basket, fall inside the basket, a task you'll be needing to repeat several times. Don't be afraid to get different letters, since they will be instantly thrown out and they won't cause you any harm. As what happens in the previous game, this mini-game has no ending. 1.3~. Blue (main mode) And yes, this turns out being the main mode. In here, you'll be able to pick pages of letters and then play the mini-games (the ones specified in the other sections of this guide). After each win, you'll get one of Blue's Clues, and after 3 of those... well, you'll complete the episode and get up to 3 words, each related to a letter that you've seen in that very same page. Also, if you have problems with any specific game, be sure to read the other data available in the several sections of section 1~. , as they will really help you. Now, on to a small walkthrough of this mode... 1.3.1~. A B C In the kitchen, you'll have to play your first mini-game ever. The objects and solutions that appear are fully random, and therefore I can't help you with it. After getting 6 of them right, you'll end the game and advance further in the game. The clue turns out being an house. Next, you'll face the maze-like mini-game. The word and shape found in there is fully random, and once more I can't help you with it. Complete the mini-game twice and you'll advance in the game, with the clue being the Mailbox, this time. Finally, you'll have to play the letter soup mini-game. Random word in here, and therefore I can't help you (and since most mini-games are random, I'll from now on stop saying that during the guide), just complete it and you'll get the final clue, a road. All these clues seem to lead to... Steve's house! Yey, you just completed your first level, and "acquired" the following words: A for Apple B for Ball C for Cookie 1.3.2~. D E F In the bathroom, you'll get your first game, the matchmaking one. This will only contain 8 bubbles (4 different letters...), and you can probably do it easily, finding a clue at the end, one of those places where you can wash your hands. In the living room, next game, get 3 of the letters that will appear in the basket and you can then you get the next clue: a fridge. Finally, the entrance to the house. It's that xylophone thingy, you need to follow 3 of the melodies shown (really simple ones, with just 2 notes) and you'll get your final clue, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper (I really wonder how did Blue pasted a clue on them...). All these clues lead to... the kitchen, and the following words: D for Duck E for Egg F for Felt Friends 1.3.3~. G H I J You'll start in the bathroom, facing the matchmaking game, this time with 12 bubbles, making it 6 different letters. Find them all, which will end this game, and give you the Side Table Drawer as a clue. I think I already found where this is heading, but we'd better get some more of those clues, shall we? Next, the... courtyard? I guess so. You'll face the labyrinth game, and after completing it twice, you'll get a new clue, which turns out being... Well, I don't exactly know what that is, but it seems like a short table. At last, you'll be taken to a new room, and face the previously seen soup letter mini-game, which you need to complete twice. You'll get a sofa as a clue. These 3 clues lead to the main room of the house, or at least it seemed the main one in the show... plus, you get the following words: G for Glasses H for Hanger I for Inchworm J for Juice 1.3.4~. K L M In the main room, you'll start by the xylophone mini-game, now with 3 sounds for you to follow. Complete it 3 times and you'll find a clue, which turns out being a pillow. Next, on the living room, you'll play the bear mini-game. You need to get 8 letters, in order to get the next clue, a strange looking suit. Finally, in the kitchen, you'll have to do the Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper game, once again. This time, you'll be seeing 4 different objects and you'll need to pick the one in the image, do it 8 times and the level will be over, granting you a new clue, which is a clock. These 3 clues lead to the bedroom, and you get the following words: K for Kite L for Letter M for Mailbox 1.3.5~. N O P In the yellow room (no idea on which room this is), you'll find your first mini-game, the letter soup one. Complete 3 4-letter words and you'll get your first clue, a... one of those places where you wash your hands! In the garden, complete the maze-like mini-game twice and you will get a new clue, a rubber duck. No, it's not I.'s duckling... (insider joke >_>) In the main room, the one with Steve's couch, you'll play the xylophone game once again, this time with 4 letters. Complete it 3 times and you'll get your final clue, which is Slippery Soap. All these clues lead you to the bathroom, and you will get these words: N for Notebook O for Orange P for Pillow 1.3.6~. Q R S You'll start by the matchmaking game, this time with 16 bubbles, which makes it 8 different letters. You'll get a soap bubble as a clue, after beating it. In the living room, you'll have to play the bear mini-game yet again, and this time you will have to get 9 (or 10?) letters. After doing so, you will get a new clue, a basket. Next, you will be taken to the kitchen, where you will face the Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper game yet again, this time comparing the object in the book with 5 different ones, repeating it for 10 times. At the end, you get your final clue, a washing machine. These 3 clues lead you to the... well, what is that? Some kind of washing room... plus, you will get these words: Q for Quilt R for Rabbit S for Shovel 1.3.7~. T U V In the main room, you'll be starting by facing the xylophone game, with 4 different letters and you need to complete it 3 times. Then, you will get a clue, which turns out being a safe, or a huge box, or something among these lines. In the backyard, you'll face the maze-related mini-game, which you should complete twice, to get a new clue: one of those rackets that have a ball attached to them, I don't recall its specific name. Kitchen, and another game. Complete it 10 times and you will get a new clue, which oddly turns out being the Felt Friends. The clues take you to a room with a large chest, and to 3 new words: T for Tickety U for Utensils V for Vegetables 1.3.8~. W X Y Z You'll start in the previously seen yellow room, with the letter soup game for you to play. Get three 4-letter words, and then you'll get a new clue, which are some vegetables, a tomato and some corn. In the living room, play the bear mini-game and get 9 letters, which will end that game and give you a new clue, a tree. Finally, you will be taken to the kitchen, to once more face the Slippery Soap mini-game. 16 bubbles, 8 words, get rid of them all and you'll get a new clue, a bucket. The 3 clues acquired take you to the backyard, and provide you with 4 new words: W for Washer X for Xylophone Y for Yo-yo Z for Zebra Now, if you played all of these one in sucession, this would have been your last level. However, you can still continue reading below. 1.3.9~. A - Z While this isn't actually a real level, you can access it by clicking Blue and then scrolling the options all to the right. By using it, you can not only see all of the words contained in the game (you don't even need to unlock them first, just use this option whenever you want and you can see them all) but you can also check the credits for the game. In case you're wondering about the words, they are: A for Apple B for Ball C for Cookie D for Duck E for Egg F for Felt Friends G for Glasses H for Hanger I for Inchworm J for Juice K for Kite L for Letter M for Mailbox N for Notebook O for Orange P for Pillow Q for Quilt R for Rabbit S for Shovel T for Tickety U for Utensils V for Vegetables W for Washer X for Xylophone Y for Yo-yo Z for Zebra This is all, for this section... 1.4~. Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper When clicking this strange pair, you'll be able to play a mini-game where you simply have to do some match-making. Near Blue's face, seen in the upper right corner, you'll see a book. Inside its pages, there's some type of object to be seen: in the lower area of the screen, other 3 objects will be seen. You simply have to pick, from those 3, the object that is equal to the one seen in the book. Keep on repeating forever, as this game also has no ending. Oh, and as happens in the other games, picking a wrong object won't have any type of bad effect. 1.5~. Paprika I wonder how Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper had a son... well, anyway, by clicking him you'll be able to play another small game. In the upper part of the scenario, you'll be able to see a cup with at least a single letter in there. Besides, you'll be able to see another cup in the lower part of the same scenario, with a lot of letters in there. Now, what you need to do is looking at the upper cup, see the floating letter in there and select that very same letter in the lower cup. Be aware that the tip of your spoon must be pointing EXACTLY at the letter, or it won't work as it should. Continue selecting letters until the word in the upper cup is fully shown, and a new one will appear. As the other games, this one doesn't have an end, and therefore you can continue playing until you get fed up of it. Also, picking a wrong letter will simply make it disappear, and won't cause you any trouble at all. 1.6~. Slippery Soap For the kids, this probably turns out being the most difficult mini-game which this product has to offer. With the difficulty changing, depending on the number of rows and columns that the game will have, the player has to select two bubbles, which have letters hiding behind them, and if they contain the same letter, they will disappear; your main target turns out being the one of making ALL bubbles disappear. In order to do so, you have to reveal the real content of each bubble and make them match. I'll now show a small example: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Now, if you press the top left bubble, you'd have: A 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 By pressing the lower left bubble, you'd have this one, for a second only: A 0 0 0 0 0 B 0 0 And then, after that small second, it would go back to: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Now, press the middle right bubble, and it could eventually show: 0 0 0 0 0 A 0 0 0 See? An "A" appeared in there, and you'd have to join it with the other letter that looks the same. Pick the upper left one, and you'd have this diagram, for a second: A 0 0 0 0 A 0 0 0 And then, it would turn to: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Now, you should simply repeat it for the rest of the bubbles, until all of them disappear. There's no problem in picking the wrong ones, unlike usually happens in other versions of this game, and you can feel free to explore the bubbles as many times as it requires you to. Finally, you can also play the game as many times as you want, with the difficulty being a slightly increased one, sometimes. 1.7~. Shovel & Pail This one turns out being a small labyrinth-like adventure. You'll always be initially seeing Blue in the lower left corner of the screen, along with a letter. Now, you simply have to move this letter (not Blue, if you were wondering...) up to the upper right corner, which makes it complete the word and finish that small level. Those maze areas are mostly easy to complete, and I doubt anyone will have problems with them. However, you can play them as much as you want, always getting sea-related words to complete and new mazes. 2~. Frequently Asked Questions A couple questions that readers may be interested in... Q: Can we play as Steve? A: Not really... Q: Can we play as Magenta? A: Nope, he doesn't even appear in this game. Q: What's your favourite character from the series? A: Hum... I gotta say that I am not a huge fan of it (c'mon, the series is mostly for little kids! >_> ), but my favourite one gotta be the nice Mailbox that appears in every episode. Q: Why didn't you include a guide to each mini-game we face, containing its full solution? A: Simply because their solution is randomly generated each time you play it. That's all... 3~.
