XP: How much experience you gain after killing the monster. HP: The amount of Damage you must inflict to kill the monster. Note- This is an average, some monsters will have a bit more, some a bit less. Dmg: The amount of Damage the monster will deal when they successfully hit you. Note- For each successful hit, the monster does damage between half this amount and the full amount. Thus, Dmg 60 means damage 30-60. Acc: The monster's Accuracy. Def: The monster's Defense. Poison: The number of seconds of Poison you receive when they successfully hit you. Fear: The number of seconds of Fear you receive when they successfully hit you. Melee.T: Melee Toughness. How easily the monster is able to resists Melee type attacks. Impale.T: Impale/Missile Toughness. How easily the monster resists Impale/Missile type attacks. Res.Pain: Pain resistance. How well the monster will react after being struck. ------------------------ 1.2 Stat Modifiers ------------------------ In this FAQ all stats listed are base stats. When on you play on Hard, Grueling, Multiplayer, or when the Eye of Sauron is activated some of the enemy's stats are changed by applying the following modifiers. -Hard- XP x1.25 HP x2 Dam x2 Acc x1.5 Def x1.5 -Grueling- XP x1.5 HP x4 Dam x4 Acc x2 Def x2 -Multiplayer- HP x1.5 -Eye of Sauron Activated- XP x1.5 HP x1.5 Dam x1.5 Acc x1.25 Def x1.25 -Enemy killed by NPC- XP x0.5 (any remainders are rounded down) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ Enemy List }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} --2.0-------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ 2.1 Animals ------------------------------ Intro: These are the various "animal type" enemies found in the game. Some may argue that Trolls are not really "animals" but I urge you to keep in mind that THIS IS JUST A FAQ! :) -=Wargs=- ===================== These gray wolf-like creatures can be pretty deadly your first time through the game. I've found it is best to attack them head-on without hesitation. Don't give them the chance to bite you as they have fairly high Accuracy and do quite a bit of Damage. Luckily, they also have fairly low Defense and can be dispatched pretty fast by a few well placed hits. The blue Boss Wargs are only found in Fangorn Forest. -Regular Warg- (Gray) XP- 90 HP- 65 Def- 30 Melee.T- 1 Impale.T- 1 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 50 Dmg- 75 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -Boss Warg- (Blue) XP- 180 HP- 250 Def- 40 Melee.T- 4 Impale.T- 4 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 70 Dmg- 95 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -=Spiders=- ===================== These are the large spiders that are found in the Mines of Moria and in some caves. Melee attacks always work better against them. Due to their low Defence and very low HP they usually should not be a problem. The Boss Spiders have a redish tint and are a bit beefier in HP but still have a low Defence and should not cause you too much harm. The Poison Spiders, which are green, actually only give you 6 sec of poison which isn't too bad really (Boss Spider gives 8). They are quite similar to the regular spider in every other ways and should be dealt with accordingly. The babies are weak but attack in swarms. They drop only gems or health pickups so you shouldn't have too much trouble with them. -Regular Spider- (Brown) XP- 45 HP- 16 Def- 30 Melee.T- 1 Impale.T- 4 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 40 Dmg- 28 Poison- 4 Fear- 0 -Boss Spider- (Red) XP- 90 HP- 74 Def- 30 Melee.T- 1 Impale.T- 4 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 50 Dmg- 20 Poison- 8 Fear- 0 -Poison Spider- (Green) Color- Green XP- 75 HP- 18 Def- 30 Melee.T- 1 Impale.T- 4 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 40 Dmg- 28 Poison- 6 Fear- 0 -Baby Spider- XP- 25 HP- 5 Def- 20 Melee.T- 0 Impale.T- 5 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 50 Dmg- 19 Poison- 2 Fear- 0 -=Maggot Swarm=- ===================== These enemies look like pack of flying black specs that swarm around you. Found mostly in underground levels, they aren't too hard to kill due to their low Defense and HP. They are, however, especially resistant to Impale/Missile attacks so a Melee attack will dispose of them much quicker. They don't do too much Damage when they hit you but they do give 6 seconds of Poison. XP- 35 HP- 18 Def- 20 Melee.T- 0 Impale.T- 11 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 40 Dmg- 30 Poison- 6 Fear- 0 -=Bat=- ===================== Rarly seen in most character's quests, these flying black bats can be mistaken for Crebain at first look. And truth be told, they aren't much different from Crebain STATS wise either. Since they don't increase the Eye of Sauron like Crebain do, they won't cause you much harm at all. XP- 14 HP- 6 Def- 10 Melee.T- 0 Impale.T- 0 Res.Pain- 0 Acc- 40 Dmg- 19 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -=Crebain=- ===================== If disturbed, these rather annoying black birds will try to fly off the map. If they escape without being killed the Eye of Sauron will increase 1 level. When the Eye reaches it's fullest it will turn gray and flash. This means Nazgul are on the way. So, Crebain lead to Nazgul. Nazgul lead to death. If you have a long range attack it will help a lot. If not then keep your eyes open and avoid setting them off. XP- 12 HP- 3 Def- 10 Melee.T- 0 Impale.T- 0 Res.Pain- 0 Acc- 40 Dmg- 14 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -=Trolls=- ===================== Trolls! The Half Troll is found on many maps while the bigger Cave Troll is found only in a few such as the Mines of Moria, Helms Deep, and Fangorn Forest bonus maps. These guys are monsters when it comes to HP. They also will do A LOT of Damage if they strike you with their big hammer. There's a good chance their swings will hit you due to their fairly high Accuracy. Like Tolkien's trolls, however, their weakness is that they are just dumb. They are slow in reacting to you so try to out menuver them and stay away from that swinging hammer. Thankfully, they have a rather low Defence so every time you swing at them it will probably hit. Just keep avioding their attacks and chip away at their big HP. Eventually they will fall giving you quite a bit of XP for your hard work. -Half Troll- XP- 350 HP- 250 Def- 35 Melee.T- 4 Impale.T- 4 Res.Pain- 35 Acc- 60 Dmg- 80 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -Cave Troll- XP- 550 HP- 350 Def- 45 Melee.T- 8 Impale.T- 8 Res.Pain- 35 Acc- 90 Dmg- 95 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 ------------------------------ 2.2 Orcs ------------------------------ Intro: They are Orcs! If you don't know what an orc is by now go read some Toliken or at least watch the movies. I'll try to describe each type so you can recognize them in the game. -=Orc Grunt with Club=- ======================= Common grunt orcs who swing a club. -Weak- (Brown, carry a Trident and a shield) XP- 35 HP- 19 Def- 27 Melee.T- 2 Impale.T- 2 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 40 Dmg- 38 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -Regular- (Orange, carry a Club) XP- 65 HP- 55 Def- 47 Melee.T- 4 Impale.T- 4 Res.Pain- 30 Acc- 70 Dmg- 55 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -Boss- (Green, carry a Club) XP- 140 HP- 145 Def- 67 Melee.T- 8 Impale.T- 8 Res.Pain- 30 Acc- 80 Dmg- 70 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -=Orc Grunt with Axe=- ====================== Common grunt orcs who swing an Axe. In Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli's story you must travel the Paths of the Dead to find him and command him to help. And like all good leaders of dead armys he will not give in without a fight. However, since you don't really fight him directly, (you just need to defeat his army of Skeleton Warriors) his stats are rather crazy. My guess is that his HP, Defence, and Toughness are super pumped to prevent anyone from ever killing him (which would create quite a plot hole) :) XP- 5 HP- 999 Def- 150 Melee.T- 99 Impale.T- 99 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 45 Dmg- 32 Poison- 0 Fear- 3 -=Fell Beast=- ===================== Um, the Witch King rides one. In the book Grond is the name of the Battering Ram that opens the games of Minis Tirith. However, I don't think you actually fight the Battering Ram in the game. Maybe it is the Troll in that area? XP- 600 HP- 100 Def- 40 Melee.T- 5 Impale.T- 5 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 40 Dmg- 30 Poison- 0 Fear- 3 -=Mumikil=- ===================== On one of Eowyn's last maps you will encounter 3 Mumikil. They are quite similar to Trolls STATS-wise. They shouldn't be too much trouble if you aim your attacks at the creature's back and avoid it's tusks. Although, since you don't HAVE to beat them to get to the next map you may want to just let them pass if it's your first time through the game. However, on all subsequent visits to the fields you should deffinitly take them down for their big 850 experience. XP- 850 HP- 400 Def- 30 Melee.T- 10 Impale.T- 15 Res.Pain- 0 Acc- 70 Dmg- 70 Poison- 0 Fear- 10 -=Shelob=- ===================== Shelob is the huge spider that you must fight while playing as Sam during Frodo's quest. Shelob can only hurt you from her front so attack her from behind. Use your cookpot-bash skill if you have any points in it. Shelob will try to put a web under your feet which basically just reduces your speed and is annoying. Just keep hacking away till she falls. Once defeated be sure to pick up Shelob's Stinger (an Artifact) XP- 900 HP- 425 Def- 40 Melee.T- 5 Impale.T- 8 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 55 Dmg- 50 Poison- 9 Fear- 0 -=Denethor=- ===================== Denethor, Gandalf's final boss can be a pain if you don't know how to beat him. Don't attack him directly as he can't be hurt that way. Instead run in front of every torch he throws at Faramir's pyre. You may be able to block them by swinging your weapon as they come towards you but in any case he will lose a big chunk of life everytime you stop a torch from landing on the pyre. He doesn't throw torches forever so if he stops you will have to restart and try again. Deffinitly the most strange boss in the game. XP- 1200 HP- 500 Def- 150 Melee.T- 8 Impale.T- 8 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 80 Dmg- 60 Poison- 10 Fear- 10 -=Gollum=- ===================== Frodo's final boss. Stay out of the way of his hits, they are very accurate and deadly. He has fairly low HP but high defence so hopefully your accuracy is high by now. To deal the most damage use either a weapon that does Melee damage or use an Armor Piercing weapon. That will get past his high Impale Armor. Once you've beat him you get to see Frodo's cool ending! XP- 1400 HP- 120 Def- 90 Melee.T- 3 Impale.T- 9 Res.Pain- 10 Acc- 100 Dmg- 65 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -=Witch King=- ===================== Ah, the Lord of the Nazgul. This Uber-Ringwraith is Eowyn's final boss and quite a tough one your first time through. Avoid his shockwave attacks. Blue ones drain your spirit, red ones drain your life, and black ones heal him but also kill the orcs running around. As you have probably figured out by now, Auto Heal is your friend especially if you get accidently caught in one of those red shockwaves. Take quick breaks to grab health but don't leave him alone for too long or he will gain back a lot of the HP you worked so hard to take off. After a wicked-cool death animation be sure to retreive his Crown(an Artifact). XP- 1800 HP- 550 Def- 50 Melee.T- 9 Impale.T- 13 Res.Pain- 100 Acc- 80 Dmg- 60 Poison- 0 Fear- 0 -=Mouth of Sauron=- ===================== The Mouth of Sauron is the final boss for Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. He is guarded by some Poison Archers and positioned in between two gates which dispence Orc Captains and various Grunts. First hit the switches to close the gates. This at least stops the Captains from ruining your day. Use the Grunts to your advantage - pickup their health drops. When you are ready, go in to attack the Mouth of Sauron himself. He has a killer swing that will cause major harm if you get in it's way. Hopefully your Defence can help you avoid a few hits while you try to cause him some damage. Take advantage of the skills that you invested points into and also use the health drops that the orcs give. This guy gives the most experience of all enemies in the game - 1900. An easy way to level up faster is to beat him - save - quit and beat him again. An even faster way is to save a Polished weapon and use that for the final death-dealing blow thus gaining a significant experience bonus.
