Copyright (00X) --------------- Introduction (002) Riviera just 1000 years ago... The "Divine World", where Gods and Angels live The "Demonic World", where Demons gather The "Ragnarok", the battle between the Gods and Demons, initiated by the Demons invasion of the Divine World had followed the single path of escalation, and the world soon becomes engulfed in a deep whirl of chaos... Devastated by the overwhelming powers of Evil Gods and Devils, the Divine World descends into a destroyed situation The Gods finally violated their own taboos, carving out their life and wisdom creating the "Death Bring Angelix", who with black wings on their backs, pronounce death before their blades. Holding "Divines" which have the authority of the Gods within them, The Death Bring Angelixes fly toward the battlefield... The battles of the Death Bring Angelixes was intense, but with their work, the war reached an end The Demons were banished into the darkness of the Demonic World, but the Gods too follow the path of ruin The Gods gave all of their power and wisdom to the island floating at the edge of the Divine World, "Riviera" And left the island to the faithful servants, the spirits, as the land where God shall once again descend And, the after the death of the Gods', a time of 1000 years slowly pass... But events indicating the recovery of Demons become confirmed in Riviera, and the eternal silence rapidly changes into a frenzy. Now, with the Gods deceased, the start of a new God-Demonic war easily allowed for the prediction of the end for the Divine World. The representatives of the Gods, the "Seven Sages of Goat", gambling the survival of the Divine World, made one decision That is, the execution of the "Divine Punishment", the power sleeping in Riviera that brings everything back to nothing... The beings the Seven Sages of Goat selected as being fit as the executor of the plan Those who inherited the "Divines" from the Gods, The angels of destruction possessing black wings... "Death Bring Angelix" A thousand years from the time of the Ragnarok, born anew Now, at the land of Riviera two Death Bring Angelixes descends ------- Above is a translation of the opening sequence to the game, and though it may be a little hard to understand, it gives a nice summary of what and how the game is. In essence, Riviera is an RPG in which you play as Ecthel, a Death Bring Angelix, meeting other party members and saving Riviera from the Demonic invasion. The game has a number of unique features (discussed mostly in the "Basics" section of this walkthrough), which makes this game stand out from other RPGs. The game also boasts a lot of voice inputs, a nice amount of CGs (considering it's a GBA game) and generally, a nice storyline with multiple endings (one of the female characters in the game will fall in love with your character, who she is depends on the choices you select during various conversations and events, and you will get and ending with that character along with a short narrative what happened to the two afterwards). So, if you can read Japanese, I strongly recommend you play this game, and if you can't read Japanese, then I hope this walkthrough will help. Now, about this guide. The "Basics" section will cover most, if not all of the fundamental aspects of the game. It is strongly suggested that you read this section at least once (I know a lot is covered in the translation of the explation in chapater 1, but there are some things that aren't told. The walkthrough section will, in essence, spoonfeed your way through the game. This is mainly due to the fact that despite there being so many options in this game, I will only be translating one route for now. Give me more time, and perhaps I may be able to do more. The Enemies section will give a list of the battles you will fight during the game, along with a brief translation of the "tactics" option in the battle menu. It will also contain a list of the individual monsters and their stats and skills, et cetra. Again, the list will take ages to complete, but please be patient. As a last note, I will like to notify people that translations given in this walkthrough is my own work, and as such, some people may disagree with me on some parts of the work. This is understandable, as one Japanese phrase can be translated into a multitude of different English phrases and still be all correct. If you have any queries and or suggestions, please feel free to e-mail me, or find me on MSN messenger under the same (white_requiem@hotmail.com). ------------- Basics (003) Unlike many of the standard RPGs released to date, Riviera incorporates some new systems which makes this game unique. As such, I will break this section down into to several parts, "The Field", "Battle", "Menu" and "Chapters". ------------- The Field (003a) In Riviera, the user is shown in the field positions and directions in which Ecthel can move. A white indicator with the words "GO!! >>" on them indicate this. While in the MOVE mode, the user can order Ecthel to move in the labeled direction by pressing the up/down/left/right key corresponding to the direction of the label. By pressing A during the MOVE mode (you can tell that you are as it will say in big letters MOVE at the bottom right of the screen), you can switch to the QUEST mode. When in the QUEST mode, you get a different set of labels (called 'triggers') indicating where can search or perform actions (in some screens, there may be none). The labels will be white or red, and they can be activated in the same way as labels in the MOVE mode, by pressing the corresponding key to the one displayed on the label. To move back into MOVE mode, just press A or B. Red Triggers which appear in the QUEST mode can only be activated at the expense of 1 T.P., that is one Trigger Point. White Triggers cost no TPs to activate. TPs can be acquired only through battle, aside from a few given to begin a new chapter with. While progressing through the story and activating triggers, the user may be asked to perform some actions which alter the outcome of some events. They are: 1. Hit a specified key a certain number of times (you can go over) in a set amount of time, you'll see a gauge and the icon for the button they want you to press next to it when this happens. 2. Hit keys following the rhythm. You'll see a bunch of key icons, when the gauge indicator passes below the icon, press the corresponding key. 3. Hit keys in a set amount of time. You'll see a bunch of key icons, which you have to press in order before the time is up. 4. Press the button at the right timing. You'll see a gauge with an indicator moving up and down the bar, press A when the indicator is at the white marker. While in the MOVE mode, a small map showing where you are (coloured in rectangle) is in the top left corner, and in the quest mode, the number of TPs you have remaining is displayed at the same location. By pressing select in the field, you can bring up the menu bar, this will be explained later in the "Menu" section of this walkthrough. By pressing start in the field, a map of the area will be displayed, along with a short description of the area you are in and a enlarged map of the area. Also note that conversations can be skipped by pressing the R button, and the background can be viewed during a conversation by pressing B. ------------- Battle (003b) A battle in Riviera is initiated by an enemy appearing, along with the words 敵出現! at the top (the message at the top changes a few times during the latter part of the game, but they should be easy enough to tell) and the background changing colour. Fighting an enemy gives some points, which can be seen at the lower end of the screen. The score value also gives a rough indication of how strong the enemy is. A choice is given if you wish to run away (in some battles, you cannot) or battle (battle is the option on top). If you run away, you will move back to the screen you came from. If you fight, you will be taken into either the item selection menu or the team selection menu. The team selection menu only comes out after you progress a little into the game, after you meet some other party members. In the team selection menu, you will first be asked to choose a formation type, either having two members in the front row and one at the back row, or one at the front row and two at the back. Having two members in the front row is good for attacking, while the other option of having two members in the back row is good for magic. After you choose your formation type, you will then be prompted to (when your party is still only at three characters, this doesn't happen) select three characters who are to go into battle. Selecting three members (Press R to see the character's stats) will then lead you to confirm your selection, then proceeds into the item selection menu. Also note that in the team selection menu, you can see various battle informations by pressing start. Use the left and right arrows to choose the enemy whose stats you want to view and press a, or select the stat you want to see using up and down arrow keys. The Tactics section provides you with some information which may help. In the item selection menu, you are given a list of items you currently possess. Numbers that are given alongside the names indicate how many times you can use the item before you lose the item (some enemy attacks later on in the game may also reduce the number of attacks remaining). You may choose up to four items to bring into battle. Select the items which you want with the A button, and press A again to de-select unwanted items. Items which have 'M' put on their symbol means that they must be taken into battle. During the item selection menu, you can also look at the data of an item by pressing R. This shows the actions performed by that character when using that item in battle next to that character's icon (most items have varying effects depending on the character using it. e.g. A magician might cast a spell using a magical tomb, others might just attempt to throw it at the enemy). If a character has two actions shown in this menu, then the second action is an "Over Skill" (explained later). If a character has a meter at the second action slot, he still hasn't mastered the associated over skill yet (also explained later). You can scroll through the actions by pressing the left and right keys, and scroll through weapons by pressing left and right. For each action, a box on the lower right indicates the name of the action, the type of action (attack, magical, etc), the damage or effect of the item, how many times the action will hit (the number of small boxes), the elemental properties of item (colour and symbol of the little boxes), the code for any additional effects that the action might cause (e.g. Low% means warns that there is only a low chance of hitting the enemy, Ultima causes the over drive gauge to break) and the target the action acts for (e.g. close enemy, enemy of back row, random, ally with least HP, etc.). To the left of the character's icon, the WT gauge is shown, indicating how long the character must wait after performing the action until he can perform a new action. After selecting the four items, the user is prompted to confirm the selection (OK! or Redo). Selecting redo allows you to reselect the items, selecting OK! takes you into battle. The Riviera battle system is turn based, with characters taking turns to perform actions. Once the turn for a character your party has arrived, you will get a window showing the four items (or less) that you have taken into battle. Pressing A when highlighting (use up and down arrow keys) the desired item allows you to perform an action with that item. By pressing R on an item, you can see detailed information about the code for added effects. An "over skill" is a special move performed by a character which is generally stronger than simple actions. Each character has certain item types (see menu for more detail) from which it can learn over skills. Over skills can be learnt by using an item a set the character is compatible with repeatedly, until the gauge above the attack is full. When you learn an over skill, at the end of the battle, the skill will become usable, and the character which learnt the skill will increase in some stats. This is very important, as the Riviera character development system does not rely on traditional experience points, and this (other than some events) is the only way for your stats to increase. Note that if you flee from the enemy during a battle, you will lose all the gauge gained for the items you use that had accumulated in that battle (shown in yellow). Once the gauge is full (if the gauge was not full at the beginning of the battle, you cannot use the over skill until the next battle), you can press the left arrow key when selecting an action during battle to activate the over skill. However, each over skill has its own level, 1, 2, 3 or Ex, which indicates the amount of over drive gauge need to use the skill. The over drive gauge, shown at the top left of the battle screen, indicates how much over drive has accumulated (max. is 3), changing colour and showing a number beside it as it increases. To use a over drive skill of level 1, you need to have 1 over drive gauge filled, for a level two skill, 2 gauges, for level 3, all 3 gauges must be filled. Note that the Ex. over skill can be used any time, even when the over drive gauge is at zero, however, the over drive gauge will break once an Ex. over skill is used, so that you won't be able to use any more over skills for the rest of the battle. Also note that Ex. over skills become progressively stronger when there is more over drive gauges filled. The over drive gauge is filled as your character deal attacks, get hit, or later on, when you use certain items that increase the gauge. Note that the over drive gauge shown is common to all you party members (i.e. Not individual, like the limit break gauge in Final Fantasy VII, all your characters use the one gauge). On the bottom right of the battle scene, you will notice a "rage" bar, which increases as you attack the enemy, and decreases as you get attacked. This is an indicator of the over drive gauge for the enemy, and they will use a special attack once they reach a high enough value, much like the how allies use over skills. When you perform an attack or get attacked, a message will come up indicating the total damage inflicted, the number of hits and the element of the attack (colour of text; green is divine, red is fire, blue is ice, yellow is lightning, purple is darkness, white is no element). During the battle press start anytime to look at you or your enemy's stats. This is very useful as you can use it to predict who the next attacker will be (look at the enemy/ally's WT meter that is closest to filling up). Pressing start opens up a menu, with 5 options: Position, Run, Item, Config and Game Stopping. Position is only available to change once per turn, and requires that you have progressed through the game enough for there to be formations. Run allows you to retreat from battle, though some battles do not let you run away. Item is much the same as that in the item selection menu prior to battle, all it does is show you the items you have chosen and their data. Config lets you alter the settings for your party. The first three options, "configuration for team selection", "configuration for item selection" and "the cursor when selecting skill" is given the option "memory" or "initialize" (the initial setting is on initialize). The fourth option, "display during waiting time" has the option ST/WT. If you select ST, you will see status abnormality icons (if you've been poisoned, dazzled, etc.) while no one is attacking, if you select WT, you will instead see the WT bar. The fifth option, to "enemy skill selection window" can either be "show" or "skip". The initial setting for this is on "skip", if you put it on show, a window displaying the enemy's attack (much like the window explaining your allies' attack at the bottom right) is shown every time the enemy performs a move. The sixth option "enemy cut-in effect" can be set for "display" or "skip". It is initially on display, and allow for a picture to be displayed every time the enemy uses a special skill using the rage bar. Putting this to skip disables the showing of the picture. The last option is "play voice", which allows you to choose whether you to "do" have voices of characters included in battle sequences or to "not" have them. The initial setting is on "do". The last option, "Stopping Game" return you to the title screen, saving you game in the progress. You will be prompted to confirm, "OK!" or "continue game". Once you finish the battle and one of your characters says something while everyone does their own little pose, you will be shown how many points the battle was worth, the time it took, and what level attack you used to finish the battle with. You will then be given a rating, S, A, B, etc., and corresponding to the rank, you will be awarded TPs (see "field" above for its uses, 4 for S, 3 for A, 2 for B, 1 for C). If the enemy drops any items, they will be automatically stored, but if you have too many items, you will be taken to the item screen, in which you must select an item (the one you just picked up is also shown). Once you select the item to throw away, you will be asked to confirm what it, the top option being "keep it" and bottom option being "discard". Note that your HP will be completely refilled once you finish a battle, and you cannot carry over values of the over drive gauge. Also note that battles, unlike moving and exploring, does not require any turns (as shown in the menu). ------------- Menu (003c) The menu can be opened in the field by pressing select. 5 options are given, which are: Item, Status, Practice Battle, Score History and Game Stopping. The number of turn so far used in the chapter, the score gained during the chapter and the total time played in the game is also displayed, as is a small description of the 5 options in the bottom right corner. Item - You will be prompted to choose between battle items and event items. Battle items are items which you can carry into battle, and you can carry a maximum of 15 separate items. By selecting this, you will be shown a list of your battle items, very much similar to the one shown in the battle preparation screen, where you can see data for the items by pressing R and throw away items by pressing A. See the "battle" section above for more information, as the screens are very similar. Event items show a list of items you have acquired during various events. They allow you trigger certain actions in the field menu, and some may unlock extra contents available at the title screen. A small description of where the item was obtained, what the items is and what happened to it (if you gave it to someone, or if you used it to make something else, etc.) is displayed to the left, and items that unlock extra content will have a star next to what it unlocks. Status - Shows the stats for Ecthel and other members of the party (scroll by pressing left/right). The stats are self-explanatory (Strength, magic, etc.), so I won't bother explaining them. The max. HP of the character is shown, as well as the current HP (in %, though HP is recovered after a battle, making mistakes in the field, such as failing to dodge a trap set on a treasure chest, will give some damage. Next to the character icon is a small speech bubble, which may either be blank, have a melody note (indicating she's happy), a sun (she likes you) or love hearts (she loves you). By selecting various response and triggers in the field, you may occasionally get an event which increases or decreases your character's feelings. Elemental resistance will be shown in the form a bar graph, the white bar indicating no element, red fire, blue ice, yellow thunder and purple darkness. The text nest to it just says repeats the graph, just in words. At the bottom of the screen, under the "USEFUL" heading, are shown the weapons the character can learn over skills and its level. For example, Ecthel can learn a level 3 over skill for from a sword-type weapon, level two over skills for rapier and spear-type weapons, and level one over skills for bow, scythe and rod-type weapons. Each character has an element she has resistance to, which is his/her element, though Ecthel (main character) and Fiaa (green sword using girl) are exceptions, as they are of the "Divine" element. Practice Battle - The practice battle option is not usable until you reach a certain point in the story. This command also cannot be selected while in town. Selecting this command gives you a screen where a choice of three commands is displayed, along with the name of the enemy team and their respective points. The choices given are: "Enter Practice Battle", "Change Enemy Team" and "Actually, don't". Choose change enemy team to randomly cycle through available enemy teams, and choose enter practice battle to start a practice battle, which proceeds like any other battle, but unlike normal battles, the durability of items do not decrease. This is extremely useful as it allows characters to learn over skills (and hence increase their stats) off weapons and items with very low durability. Note that practice battles do not give you any TPs or points. Score History - Selecting this will bring up a list of recent events in which you have earned points for. At the begging of a chapter, you will also see list of points you achieved for previous chapters. Game Stopping - Saves your game, and takes you back to the title screen (you will be prompted to confirm, first option OK! and second option is continue game). When you select continue at the title screen, you will be able to continue the game from where you saved. ------------- Chapters (003d) The game Riviera is broken into several chapters, moving from one to the next as the game progresses. Each chapter contains multiple areas, while each area is comprised of one or more screens. Though it is often possible to go back screens (few exceptions, some screens don't allow for you to go back), it is not possible to go back into previous areas (some instances later in the game allow you to do so, but generally you cannot). At the end of each chapter, you will be given a rating based on how many turns you spent finishing that chapter, how many items you found, and how many characters were happy at the end of the chapter (Only for Chapter 2 and beyond). Based on this rank, you will be given some TPs to begin the new Chapter with. ------------- Characters, Formation and Teams Below is a brief discription of each usable character (taken from STING's official website, http://www.sting.co.jp/riviera/chara/index.htm), and my comments after. Ecthel - The "Wingless Death Bring Angelix". Though he doesn't have much experience as a Death Bring Angelix, he possesses the God-Sword Ecthelion, which is said to be the strongest of the Divines. "Is there no way to save both Riviera and the Divine World?" - The main character, he must be used in every battle except practice battles. He can use (effectively) the God-Sword Ecthelion which has infinite durability, so he will be the main attacker during normal fights. He can also use some orbs, power wrists and such effectively (i.e. Over skill increases stats of all allies). His main strength is his over skill of the God-Sword Ecthelion (Exellent of finishing off normal battles), and his over skill of the Fairy Sword (Heals allies along with damage). Ledah - The "Lone Death Bring Angelix". Maipulating the God-Spear Rolaray, he has one of the most powerful fighting capabilities in the Divine World. He is sent on the mission along with Ecthel to activate the "Divine Punishment". "How ironic, to be going to Riviera under such conditions" - Only usable in Chapter 1. He looks, acts and talks really cool. Very strong, though he can only use the God-Spear Rolaray (he will refuse to use anything else), his attacks are very powerful, hitting the opponent a number of times. His over skill for the God-Spear Rolaray is also very strong. You'll have to use him in chapter 1, and you'd wish he'll stay with you throughout the game. Rothe - The familiar of the main character, Ecthel. It's not a cat. The ribbon on his tail is his favourite. "But I'm Ecthel's familiar, so of course." - Technically not a usable character, but I'm throwing him in here, since I like him. Yes, he does appear in battle, when Ecthel uses the "Rothe of Fire Attack" over skill. Lyuri - An energetic girl who excels in the use of ranged weapons. She is inquisitive, and that sometimes makes her a troublemaker... "Lyuri also thinks it was good to have been able to meet Ecthel" - Arguably the weakest character in the game. She learns her level 3 over skills from bows, which are generally not that strong. She can, however, effectively use claws and tombs, but generally, the other characters are better. This opinion might be due to the facts that I'm not all too hyped about lolitas, and generally like the other girls more. She does have an unusually high AGL though. She usually refers to herself as "Lyuri", rather than saying "I". Fiaa - A girl who lives with Lyuri at the Forest of Spirits. She backs up her friends with artful rapier moves and healing magic. "We will protect Master Ecthel, no matter what happens" - My personal favourite character. Though her attacks aren't that strong towards the end (unless you use the Zatetsuken/Shin Zantetsuken, which will do Over Skill-class damage in a normal attack), she can attack multiple times with her rapier, which allows for the rapid accumulation of the over drive gauge. She can also use sword type weapons fairly effectively, though you won't really be using her often as a healer towards the end (you'll probably prefer Elixirs). Serene - A spirit of the Arch tribe, who has wings like that of a bat. Wielding a giant scythe, she slices through her enemies. "If you're going to defeat Demons, take me with you!" - A complete attacker. Learning an over skill off a scythe-type weapon increases her strength at a very nice pace, and her level 3 over skills are generally very strong. A slight detterent to using her may be the fact that many of her strong weapons found near the end of the game is of the ice element. many of her normal scythe attacks attacks not just one enemy, but the entire front row. Oh, and "Arch" is pronounced "Arc" (or "Ark"). Cierra - A witch capable of using strong attacking magic. She is searching for her lost friend at the ruins where she came to collect ingredients. "I'm not called the 'Scarlet Witch' just for show" - Like Serene, she can deal enormous damage with her level 3 over skills, only that hers is typically magical, fire element damage. She is slow though, although her attacks with various tombs allow her to use attacks of various elements (though you'll have to be prepared to keep those tombs and discard other items). Note that she will be pretty weak when you first meet her, so train her as many items as possible if you want to use her. ------------- Formation As a genral rule, always cheack who you are fighting. If they use an attack that damages the entire front row or entire back row, it's better to have less people in the respective rows. Also plan your formation so that charcters who you want to use will be at the minimum risk of being damaged by elements they are weak against. So if you know that a character's weak to ice and you know that an enemy uses a ice elemental attack to the front row, position her to the back row so she won't be hit by that attack. It should be noted that it isn't really necessary to fret over the exact postioning of characters, as the game tends to be pretty easy in battles, provided you're adequately learnt over skills. Also not that the "Attack" formation (two front, one back) will give a -3 bonus to the wait value of physical attacks, while the "Magic" formation (two back, one front) will give a -3 wait bonus to magical attacks. ------------- Teams When you have 4 characters or more in your party, you will have to select 3 characters as your team to go into battle. Ecthel must be a member of the team. In general, you can either select your team: - by advantage (see who your enemy is, select the memeber who will have an elemental advantage), - by strength (choose the character because you know she has a strong over skill, etc.), - by personal preference (you love her, so you use her), - or by a combination of the above. Below is a short analysis of each team combination. 1. Ecthel, Lyuri, Fiaa - Since Fiaa and Ecthel are both strong with sword-type weapons, it is possible to cut back the number of weapons to take into battle, and use them for something else (like potions). - Since Ecthel is the strongest, you will either be relying on Ecthel's God-Sword Ecthelion over skill (if you can kill them in one hit) or some other sword-type over skill of Ecthel. - Though Fiaa's rapier over skills are weak, she can rapidly gain the over gauge drive with her multiple attacks. If she really needs to, she can be used for healing as well. Note that she can use the "banish" over skill, which will cause instant death to enemies who aren't bosses. - Lyuri, unless you really want to see her over skill graphic, is generally useless, and thus is cannon fodder. Just attack with her to increase the over drive gauge, preferrably with the claw-type weapons. 2. Ecthel, Lyuri, Serene - Probably the best party if you want to use Lyuri, as Serene can share the claw-type weapons with her, pumping the over drive gauge quickly. - If Ecthel's God-Sword Ecthelion over skill isn't strong enough to kill the enemy, use Serene's scythe over skills. - Lyuri and Serene are both relatively quick, though it doesn't really matter much. 3. Ecthel, Lyuri, Cierra - Again, get the drive up with Lyuri's claws and Ecthel's attacks, and blast away with Cierra's level 3 over skills, or Ecthel's God-Sword Ecthelion over skill. - A tomb or two which allows elemental attacks will be handy. - It may also be good to swap Cierra with Serene (or vice versa) when encountering enemies they are weak against. 4. Ecthel, Fiaa, Serene - My favourite party. An all round team that can heal, get the gauge up quickly and deal good damage. - Not much to add, see some of the stuff written in 1. and 2. above. 5. Ecthel, Fiaa, Cierra - A variation of the party 4. above. Again, strong, get the drive up with Fiaa and Ecthel, then go for the Cierra level 3 over skill. 6. Ecthel, Serene, Cierra - The best party for speed clears. - Attack, attack and more attack. Depending on whose attack is stronger, use their repsective level 3 over skills and watch the enemy HP drop like crazy. - Just be careful Cierra's HP is stable, as she is slow, she may get damaged too much before she can heal herself. ------------- Parameters This section will give how much stats increase as you learn various over skills. VIT will always be raised by 1 when you learn an over skill. ------------- Other Stuff to Note - You cannot get anything over a "B" ranking in battle if you don't finish the battle with an over skill. - Bosses will not drop items unless you achieve a "S" ranking. - % Damage attacks and Instant Death attacks do not work against bosses. - Whether or not your allies survive the battle does not affect your ranking. - Enemy attacks that decrease your item durability (i.e. slime attacks) will still be effective during practice battles. - In relation to treasure chest traps, failing to deactivate explosions, cold gas and magical locks will result in the loss of the tresure chest contents. Cold gas will also make you lose several turns. ------------- Walkthrough The game begins by giving a rough overview of the story (skippable by pressing A), the text is same as the text which is shown in the Opening movie. Walkthrough: You are prompted to proceed to the next area (first option) or to save your game (second option). Screen 1 Proceed to the next area, and Ledah (red) and Ecthel (purple) will appear, along with Rothe (cat-like familiar). Remember you can always fast forward conversations by pressing R. Ledah: Once we pass through this heaven's gate, we should be able begin seeing Riviera. Ecthel: Riviera... Ledah: Everything must be the first time for you... Well, just make sure you don't pull my leg. Enemy: Grrr... Ecthel: What is it...!? Rothe: Ecthel, this feeling, it's a Demon! Ecthel: Demon...it can't be! Ledah: For Demons to have invaded such a place... Oh, well... It's just that the time for us to use our Divines came faster. Rothe: Divine? Ledah: The weapons of Gods, given to us angels. My God-Spear Rolaray... Ecthel: And my God-Sword Ecthelion... Ledah: Yeah. Now, let's go, Ecthel! You enter a battle with a hell hound, see the "battle" section above if you need help with the stuff here. Rothe will start talking about how you can select four items and so on. You only have two items right now, the God-Spear Rolaray and God-Sword Ecthelion. Note that though Ecthel can use Rolaray, Ledah will refuse to use the Ecthelion if you order him to do so. Also note that Ledah has the over skill "Death Pronouciation Lostsefie" already learnt, which is really powerful, and if you use it to end the fight, you will most likely get a pretty high rank. Furthermore, note that the two God-weapons you have are special items, which do not have a limited durability (i.e. You can use it as many times as you want). After the battle, the conversation restarts. Ecthel: Hmm? We got an item when we defeated the enemy. Rothe: I wonder what it is? There's some green liquid in a small bottle. Ledah: That's a "Potion". Drink it, and your HP will recover. Rothe: Hmm, we're lucky already, aren't we? Ledah: Treasure items that enemies drop. For you, untrained, will come to need the help of items. Ecthel: Yeah. Let's keep it valuably. Rothe: Oh, yeah... The items you have can be confirmed with the select button. Ecthel: I see, the select button... I'll remember that. You will then get into the field screen. See the 'field' section above for more information about field systems. Try to go right, to the second screen. Conversation starts. Ecthel: We're still only at Heaven's Gate, and Demons are around... Ledah: Perhaps some factor is associated with this... Hector: Death Bring Angelixes, who serve the Gods, Ecthel: Master Hector! Hector: Report the situation. Ledah: Understood. I speak to Master Hector. We have confirmed the presence of Demons at Heaven's Gate. Hector: As I thought... Even though the judgment of the divine world is absolute. Someone is probably guiding the Demons. We must have you two go quickly as possible. Ledah: As expected... at Riviera? Hector: Yes. Riviera is the root of all evils. Rumour that the land has become the Demonic world is also probably true. We must not repeat the ancient Ragnarok. For that, Death Bring Angelixes, you exist. Now, Death Bring Angelix Ledah, and Death Bring Angelix Ecthel, make haste to Riviera! Under the name of the Gods, protect this world from the Demons. Ecthel: Understood, Master Hector. Hector: The extent to which this vision can reach ends at Heaven's Gate. From there on, the rest is in your hands. We're counting on you... Ledah: Understood... Rothe: It disappeared. That illusion was... Ecthel: It's Master Hector, one of the seven sages of Goat. We, under orders from Master Hector, are heading to Riviera, as the duty for us Death Bring Angelixes are to defeat Demons. Rothe: Riviera becoming the Demonic world... Wonder what's it like once past Heaven's Gate? Ecthel: To investigate that is also one of our duties. Screen 2 Rothe: Hey Ecthel, from here on, are there monsters everywhere until we get to Riviera? Ecthel: I don't not, but I think it probably is... Ledah: It will be a pain to waste time at Heaven's Gate. We'll pass through as quickly as possible, let's hurry, Ecthel. Ecthel: Ok, got it. If you move back, Ledah will say that there's not time to go back. So move to the right, to screen 3. Screen 3 Rothe: It's a Demon again. Enemy: Rrrr- Ledah: What are we doing? Ecthel: Uhh...What should we do? You're prompted to either fight or run, but you'll be fighting whichever option you choose. Ledah will comment that the enemy's angry that their comrade has been defeated, so be careful. Once the Gremlin uses his special attack, it will be Ecthel's turn to perform an action. Here, he must use a potion (Ledah and Rothe will tell you to use the potion if you choose any other item). Use the potion, and Rothe will tell you to look at the information of items by pressing the R button. After that, the battle continues as usual. Conversation restarts after battle. Ledah: Small fries.. There's no chance they can beat us Death Bring Angelixes... Ecthel: But I got saved by the potion! If there's my God-Sword and potion, I feel there's nothing to be afraid of. Rothe: What're you saying so carefreely- Ecthel really doesn't know anything. Ecthel: ... ...??? Rothe: Geez, there are a limited number to how many times an item can be used! Ecthel: That isn't true, because my God-Sword Ecthelion doesn't disappear no matter how many times I use it. Rothe: That's because it's special. Rolaray is, too, by the way. See, there were numbers to the right of the name when selecting items, right? Ecthel: I think it said "Potion x03" or something... Rothe: Yes, that, that! That "03" is the durability. Ecthel: So, if I use it three times, the potion will be gone? Rothe: Yes, but because we used it in the last battle, we can the amount we can use is less than three. Ecthel: So we have to use items preciously? Rothe: Yes, that's it! You will find yourself in the field mode, no triggers will pop up when in quest mode, and the only direction you can go is left, back to screen two. So go to screen two. Screen 2 (revisited) Ledah: Where are you going? Are you going back to the Divine World or something? Ecthel: No, not that... It was a dead end from here, so maybe there's another path... Ledah: I think it's a little rushed to conclude that it's a "dead end" without searching the area thoroughly... Ecthel: You say search, but... Rothe: Ecthel, I'll teach you how to search... So let's get back to the place we were just then. Ecthel: Ok, got it. Screen 3 (revisited) Rothe: Ok, then I'll teach you how to search. Ecthel: Please do so. Rothe: First, look at the bottom right of the screen. Ecthel: It says "MOVE". Rothe: Yes, "move". That mean's we're right now in Move mode. Ecthel: Move mode? Rothe: We can move while in move mode. Ecthel: I see, move in move mode... Rothe: But... To search, we can't in move mode. Ecthel: So what do we do? Rothe: Try pressing A in the field screen. Ecthel: A button, ok. You'll be put into the field screen, you can't turn back (Rothe will stop you), so just press A to change to quest mode. Conversation will restart. Ecthel: I pressed the A button, but... Rothe: Look at the bottom right of the screen. Ecthel: It says "Quest". Rothe: Yeah, "Quest (search)". So that means we're currently in quest mode. Ecthel: Quest mode? Rothe: When we search... Switch to quest mode by the A button. Ecthel: A button switches Move->Quest... Rothe: Yes, remember that please. Ecthel: So, next is? Rothe: In quest mode, triggers that differ from that of move mode will appear, so if you press buttons following them, it'll be OK. Ecthel: What's a trigger? Rothe: It refers to the control panel on the screen. If you press the same direction as the arrows, up, down, left, right, we can move or explore. Ecthel: Hmm...I don't quite understand it, but it seems handy. Rothe: Once you to get used to it~ Then let's try searching now using triggers. Ecthel: We press the button as shown on the trigger, right? You find yourself back in the field screen, in the quest mode. Rothe will stop you from going back, so just do as he says and press up in quest mode (you'll be warned by Rothe if you press the wrong direction). Ecthel: There's a stone ledge below here. We can get down from here. Rothe: See, if we search, there may be new discoveries like this! Ecthel: It must be worth searching. Rothe: Yes, because there are many things you don't notice when you're just passing by. Ecthel: I think I'll go slowly, checking everything from now on. Rothe: Oh, but Ecthel, I have one warning. Ecthel: Oh, what's that? Rothe: Every time we execute a search trigger... We spend 1 point of "TP (Trigger Point)". Ecthel: What's a TP? Rothe: Hmm... Should we say, how much we can move...? Ecthel: ??? Rothe: Anyway, it's something needed to execute a search trigger. Be careful, as if this runs out, you won't be able to search. Ecthel: You say be careful, but... Rothe: When in quest mode, TP is displayed in the top left of the screen, so maybe you should decide whether to search or not looking at that? Ecthel: Doesn't TP increase? Rothe: It increases when you defeat an enemy. And plus, the better grade you get, the more TP you get~ Ecthel: So we have to give a good effort in battle as well to search properly. You end up back in the field screen. If you try searching the cliff again, Rothe will tell you to go into move mode to move. If you press any direction al key in move mode, the conversation will restart. Rothe: Like just then, how we searched "Under Cliff" and found "jump down", if you search and find a new route... There may be more move triggers in move mode. Ecthel: Yeah, true. Since we can now jump off this cliff. Rothe: Even if you reach a dead end, if you search, there will always be an open path. Ecthel: By the way, do we need TP when we move? Rothe: We don't need any TP to move. It's only for when we're in quest mode. Ecthel: Oh, ok. Rothe: There are some search triggers that don't require TP though. Ecthel: I can't tell the difference... Rothe: You can tell by looking at the trigger. Red triggers require 1 TP and white ones don't. Ecthel: So when we execute a red trigger, we should take note of the remaining TP. Rothe: That's right. You come back to the field screen, where you can move around freely. It is, however, suggested that you don't do anything (i.e. Go back, or activate quest triggers in the previous scenes, as they would be a waste of turns, which will lead to getting a low rank at the end of the chapter). Press Up to activate the move trigger, Ecthel will say that once you go down, you probably won't be able to go back. Choose the first option, go down (second option is to stop). Ledah: That was an awfully long conversation. Ecthel: Sorry... we needed to hurry, didn't we? Area 1-2 The path leading to Cave - The floating gallery comprising most of Heaven's Gate. If you chose not to touch the mana wisp, trigger changes to "Mana Wisp". Screen 5 - (Red, down) Open Treasure Chest Rothe will warn you that some treasure chest contain nothing, and others may even be trapped. Go into quest mode, get the treasure chest by pressing down, confirm opening the chest (first option) and get a potion x03. Go back into move mode, go to the next screen. Screen 2 Conversation starts. Rothe: It's good that we've advancing through the temple... Is it far to Riviera? I'm starting to feel worried. Zorg: Your lives, I will take here! Rothe: Ahhh... Demons again... Wingless Angel, help me! Ecthel: Don't say wingless, wingless-- Because I can use a Divine instead! Ledah: You say you can use it, but only a normal skill, right? Ecthel: Normal...skill? Rothe: There are two types to skills, a normal skill and an over skill. Compared to normal skills, over skills are powerful... but Ecthel, you can't use it yet, can you? Ecthel: What about my skill "slash"? Rothe: That's a normal skill! Over skills...can only be learnt when you accumulate enough exp. Ecthel: Exp? How does that accumulate? Rothe: It accumulates as you use normal skills. Ecthel: Meaning, if I want to learn over skills... Ledah: Just keep on getting exp through battles. That's the only way, let's go! You'll enter a battle (top option) Rothe will explain some matters about the learning of over skills. Ecthel will not be able to use anything other than the God-Sword Ecthelion, as Ledah will stop you using any other item, saying to use this opportunity to learn an over skill. Kill the enemy, using Ledah's over skill to finish the enemy as usual (to get high rank), and Ecthel will learn the over skill "Double Slash". Conversation will begin. Ecthel: Over skill... I learnt "double slash". Rothe: Way to go, Ecthel! Ledah: When you skill up, parameters... such as HP, STR and MGC increase, and you grow stronger. Ecthel: Wow~, I didn't notice. Rothe: Ecthel's weak, so you need to skill up more. Ecthel: Ok, then I'll go learn the one for Rolaray next! Ledah: That's useless... No matter how many times you use the Rolaray... You'll never be able to master its over skill. Ecthel: Eh, is that so? Rothe: Geez, depending on the person... there are items you can learn over skills from and those you can't. Ecthel: How do I tell that apart? Rothe: You can tell by whether or not the gauge is displayed. Ecthel: I see! You can tell by the gauge. Rothe: It's especially important to check when you get a new item! You'll be back at the field screen. Get into the quest mode, search the pile of rubble by pressing down. Rothe: The remains of a broken pillar, how dangerous... Ecthel: Ah! There's a handy sized rock Prompt to pick up or leave. If you choose to leave the rock, you cannot get it later. So choose to pick it up, get the "small rock" and 500 points. Ecthel: It may come to some use. Move upwards to the next screen. Screen 3 Rothe: The rocks here are rough and hard to walk on. Ecthel's an angel, so you have a harder time walking that me, right? Ecthel: Not really. I'm used to walking on the ground. Rothe: What!? Even though you're an angel? Ecthel: Yeah, my wings were lost with the covenant made to acquire the Divine. Rothe: Oh, that's why Ecthel didn't have wings. So, then, the thing that Master Ledah lost is...? Ledah: ... ... Rothe: No, nothing. Back into field mode. Go left, into screen 4. Screen 4 Search the collapsed rubble (left). Rothe: As expected, it seems that we can't proceed. Ecthel: Yeah... Rothe: We came directly underneath the palace that we couldn't go through back then. The gallery's completely split in two and fallen to the ground. Ecthel: Hm? Search the shining thing in the rubble (left). Ecthel: There's something shining beneath the rocks... Rothe: Let's investigate! Ecthel: I wonder what that is? Ledah: A mana wisp... This is rare. Ecthel: Mana wisp? Rothe: The "mana" emitted by spirits collects into one place... the phenomenon of that shining is called a mana wisp. Ecthel: It's beautiful... Just by looking at it, I fell strength coming from within me. Rothe: If you actually touch it, then you can gain the power of it, so try touching it~ Ecthel: What should I do? Touch the mana wisp (first option). If you choose not to touch the mana wisp (second option), you won't be given the option again. Ecthel: (Is it all right...?) Rothe: How is it? It feels like power is coming from the depth of your body, right? Ecthel: This is... a warm, and a strong light... It's as if it's saturating my body. Rothe: Mana wisp... the collection of the powers of the spirits. They are the powers of small spirits, but together, they become a great power. Ledah: But, spirits, the source of this should only exist naturally in Riviera... Why is such a thing at Heaven's Gate... Ecthel: Hm? Ledah, did you say something? Ledah: Nothing... Let us hurry forward. Go right, back to screen three, then right again to screen four. Screen 5 Rothe: Where is this place? Ecthel: It seems like a cave. Rothe: Is this Heaven's Gate too? It must be a larger place than I imagined. Ledah: It would be good if it was only large... Rothe: What do you mean? Ledah: You'll understand when we go forward. Go right, onto the next area. Ecthel: It can't be helped. Now, let's go. In the field screen, move right to screen 2. Screen 2 Rothe: We climb and climb, I wonder if we'll reach heaven at the top? It was easier having a nap at the Divine World. Ecthel: If you're going to whine, you shouldn't have followed us in the first place... Rothe: But I'm Ecthel's familiar, so of course. I'm so worried about you when I'm not around... Ecthel: Really~ Yuro: You guys seem supsicious. Ledah: Demons have appeared. What should be do? Rothe: Aaaah~~! Ecthel, Ecthel! Ecthel: It's all right! It'll be a one-hit kill with the over skill I just learnt! Ledah: One thing I forgot to mention... To activate an over skill, an over drive gauage is needed. Ecthel: Over drive gauge? Rothe: During battle, the gauge shown at the top left of the screen. Ecthel: That's... the one with with numbers like 1, 2 written on it, right? Ledah: The over skill you learnt is "Lv1", so... You need one level's worth of gauge. Ecthel: Does that mean I can't use it unless one gauge worth has been accumulated? Ledah: That's what I mean. Ecthel: Eeh. I was planning to use it straight away to look impressive. Rothe: The gauge is one for all, so think well before using it. Ledah: The gauge accumulates as you attack and get attacked. Don't hold back using it too much, as there's no point if we lose the battle. Ecthel: I might try to use it when the gauge accumalates Lv1. Rothe: Show them the powers of the Death Bring Angelix-! Enter battle. When your over drive gauge reaches level 1 an it becomes Ecthel's turn, Rothe will block you from using anything but the over skill double slash. So press left on the God-Sword and use the over skill, then proceed with the battle as usual. Ecthel: When I use the over skill, the gauge decreases. Rothe: Yeah, it decreases the same amount as the used over skill level. Ecthel: So this overskill of mine consumes Lv1 worth of the gauge... Ledah: Though in my case, the gauge itself becomes destoryed. Rothe: Master Ledah's Death Pronouciaton Master Skill is special... In the field screen, go right to screen 3. Screen 3 Rothe: It seems like you can enter the cave from here. I don't know what demons are waiting inside though. But we're going anyway, right? Ecthel: Yes, for that is our duty. Rothe: It's all right. I asked just in case. In the field screen, go into quest mode and search the gallery above. Ecthel: Hm? What is... that? Enemy: Fshurururu... Rothe: A spider's coming down from above! Ecthel: What should we do? Rothe: How about throwing that stone we just picked up? Ecthel: Ok! You will be prompted to choose throw (first option) or not to (second option). I strongly suggest choosing to throw, as it gives you a nice 10,000 points, without even needing to battle. If you do throw, a bar will appear with a marker swinging up and down its length. Press A when the marker is at the white coloured in area, and you will hit the spider. If you miss, you'll have to fight 2 spiders. Assuming you hit the spider: Ecthel: Eeey! Rothe: Just hit! It landed perfectly, Ecthel. Ecthel: It really hit... Ledah: Flukes are a scary thing... But thanks to that, it saved us some time. Let's hurry, Ecthel... Just don't you use such a method again... for I don't think flukes will go on forever... You recieve a spider's web x20 and 10,000pts. Note that the spider's web is far from useful (it increases the Wait meter of the enemy), so don't really bother to use it (potions and weapons are far more useful). Go right, to the next area. Area 1-4 The Cave of Judgment - Inside - Around midway to the peak of the cave, the stone stairs proceeds to the inside. Screen 1 Rothe: The inside's unexpectedly bright. I was imagining it to be more dark... Ecthel: They say it's a cave, but the walls seems to be crumbling. Rothe: Whatever it is, if we pass through here, we'll be at least a little close to Riviera, right? Ecthel: Probably... Ledah: That's if we can go through. Don't let your guard down... In the field screen, go into quest mode to search the light passing through the trees. Rothe: Light is passing through holes made by disintegration. Ecthel: Yeah, it's beautiful, but somehow sad. Go right, on to screen 2. Screen 2 Ecthel: We're still climbing, it's pretty long... Rothe: It feels like you'll be falling forever in you slip just once. Calua: Fff, a prey has appeared. Prepare yourselves! Rothe: It seems we can't run- Ecthel: So we have to fight... You'll enter battle. It should be an easy win. Ecthel: We done it... Ledah: We shouldn't be wasting time here, for we need to execute the Divine Punishment as soon as possible. Rothe: Divine Punishment? Ledah: ... ... ... ... Ecthel: A method of execution, used to protect the Divine World... But it's powers are so strong that it is said that it will even damage Riviera. Rothe: Is it really something that dangerous? Ecthel: I don't know. But... Ledah: But, it we just stand and watch the progression of Demons, the Divines world will become a Demonic territory too. Rothe: That can't... Then you mean we're going to destroy the demons along with Riviera before they come to the Divine World? Ecthel: ... ... ... Ledah... Is there no way to save both Riviera and the Divine World? Ledah: Are you still saying such things, Ecthel? The sacrifices made at Riviera are inevitable. It's just that what used to be called the Dmeonic World changed its name to Riviera after the Ragnarok. Ecthel: But Riviera should've become a peaceful place where spirits live! We have to destroy that... Ledah: Anyone can say clean things. Even though they are spirits, they sided with the demons in ancient times, no matter what, they are only inhabitants of the Demonic World. Worrying about the spirits is fine, but to consider our duties about protecting the Divine World is our tasks as Death Bring Angelixes. Am I wrong? Ecthel: Y, yeah, I know... In the field mode, go into quest mode to search the light passing through the trees. If you didn't search the light in screen 1, the conversation that happens at screen 1 will be shown. If you did search in screen 1, a conversation will start. Ledah: As I thought, the same way of being destroyed. Something must be here. Ecthel: The ground that the light hits... The wall that the light hits... ... Ledah, let's search the ground. This light may be representing something. Ledah: The ground... I see... Ledah: There's one point only where this light doesn't hit. Ecthel: This is...? You get the Orhalicon, along with 7000 points. Move right, into screen 3. Screen 3 Hector: Death Bring Angelixes, who serve the Gods, Ecthel: Master Hector! Hector: Report the situation. Ledah: About our current situation... We are currently moving through the place thought to be the Vave of Judgment. Hector: I see... There is little time left. Perhaps Riviera has already started to become the Demonic World. At this pace, it will be difficult to avoid a second Ragnarok. make haste, Death Bring Angelix. Ecthel: Master Hector. Hector: What is it!? Why are you confused? You Death Bring Angelixes need not worry. Just understand us, the Seven Sages of Goat, to be the truth and act so. Now, make haste to Riviera. Ledah: Ecthel, just think of fulfilling our duties for now... Thinking about everything else should be done after that, ok? Ecthel: Ok, I understand... In the field menu, go to quest mode and press down to search the rock surface. Ecthel: The rock surface has gotten weak. It seems like it will break, just by touching it. What should I do? Hit it, touch it, leave it are options 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Choose the first option to hit it. Ecthel: Oh no! Ledah: What are you doing, Ecthel... ... Rothe: A boulder's falling! Rothe: Ecthel, quickly move as I tell you, carefully and calmly. Press Up, Up A quick enough (it should very easy, but make sure you do not make a mistake in pressing some other key). Rothe: It went well. Ecthel: Yeah. Ledah: It's something that wouldn't have happened in the first place if you didn't do anything. It's only natural for you to have evaded it. You get 5000 points for evading the boulder. Go right and on to the next area. Area 1-5 Scale Rock - The place where the judgments were actually dealt. If you choose to pull it, you will get a window showing, telling you to press A 12 times in the given time. If you succeed, you will get a Dragon Killer x15 (x10 if you fail once, x05 if you fail twice), 3000 points and Echtel's strength will increase by 1. If you fail, you can try again, up to three times including the intial try. If you fail three times the sword will break, and you will get the item Hilt of the Dragon Killer and 1500 points. The trigger will then change itself to "The place where the sword was". If you chose to leave the sword as it is, there is no event, and the choice won't appear even when you activate the trigger again. - (Red, Right) Surrounding Scenery No event. Walkthrough As always, you will be prompted to either continue to the next area, or to save your game. Save if you need to, and proceed (first option). Screen 1 Ecthel: It seems like a dead end again. Is there another path somewhere... In the field mode, first examine the sword by pressing down in the quest mode. Ecthel: It seems a sword is stuck in the stone. Rothe: It's probably something's trap. It may be better not to pull it out. Ecthel: What should I do... Since a dragon enemy comes up soon, you may want to get the Dragon Killer x15 (first option) by pressing A repeatedly, but those who want to master the game should fail thre times to get the hilt, which is an event item. Whichever you choose, don't choose the second option, as you won't get a second chance. Note that if you really really want the Dragon Killer, save your game, get the hilt then reset/load the game. This will still result you getting the Hilt of the Dragon Killer in the item encyclopedia. Assuming you're going to fail three times: Ecthel: Ok, I'll try pullig it out! ~~~~~~~~~! It's no good. It won't even buldge. Rothe: Maybe there's no way but to give up... Back in field mode, press down again to reactivate the trigger. Ecthel: Perhaps I can pull it out this time? Choose the first option to attempt to pull it out, again, choosing the second option (give up) won't give you a second chance. Ecthel: Ok, let's go! Argh... Rothe: It snapped... Ecthel: Yeah. Rothe: Well, there weren't any traps, so I guess it's good. There was a problem with how you pulled it out, though. Ecthel: Mm... You recieve the item hilt of the dragon killer and 1500 points. Ledah: Is such a thing going to be of any use? Now in the field mode, press up to search the cliff. Ecthel: A rock ledge is suspended. With this, it looks like we can go down. Rothe: This too seems like we won't be able to come back once we go down. Ecthel: Yeah, we must go carefully... In the field screen, press up to activate the "go down" trigger. Ecthel: A rock ledge is suspended. Should I go down... Choose the first option (jump down), as the second option (don't) will get you nowhere, and will be a waste of a turn. Screen 2 Ecthel: Phew... It seems we got down safely, but where is this place? The whole stone ledge seems to be suspended... ... ...xt!? The ground shook just then! Ledah: It seems like the whole rock is moving down. Ecthel: Is it all right to continue falling? What's going to happen... Rothe: It's all right, isn't it? It'll eventually land somewhere, probably. Enemy: Gowww... Rothe: Ecthel, it's a demon!! Ecthel: Let's go!! You will enter a battle with a Red Dragon. Use Ecthel's over skill when possible, drink a potion of necessary. Though you don't have the dragon killer, the battle is still pretty easy. Make sure you end the battle with Ledah's over skill though. Rothe: This rock still seems to be going down. While it's falling, we can jump onto another rock ledge, Ecthel? Ecthel: It seems we can jump over exactly when the ledge comes... Let's try it...! A bar will be shown, along with a marker going up and down. Press A when the marker comes above the white section. If you fail, you will miss going to area 1-9 and be forced to go straight on to 1-6. This is undesirable, so I'll assume you succeed: Ecthel: Yes, we're here! You get 2000 points, then automatically be taken to the next area. Ecthel: The extent of Heaven's Gate's ruin is so far... Rothe: Yeah, even the palace has gone. Ledah: It's the destiny of all who have shape. Someday, it'll disappear... Ecthel: Yeah, I know that, but... Ledah: If it's pathetic sentimentiality, leave it for later. In the field screen, press up to check the statue. Ecthel: The statue here has a decoration. Rothe: Maybe there were originally decorations on all the statues. Ecthel: Why? Rothe: Yeah, not many demons might have com in here. Ecthel: So it's not pillaged? Rothe: That's right. Press up again to search the decoration of the statue. Ecthel: It's a gorgeous decoration. You'll be prompted either to take it (first option) or to not (second option). Take it. Ledah: The boring conversation is for next time. Ecthel, what are we doing? You wil be prompted to either go into battle (first option) or to retreat (second option). Since there isn't much point in retreating, head into battle. The battle isn't hard, and should be over soon. Rothe: Seems we just beat them. Ecthel: Yeah. Ledah: Ecthel, there seems to be a lot of waste in your moves. There should be no surprise if you can kill the enemy quicker. In the field screen, search the decayed staute to the left. Rothe: The statue here has fallen from its base. The sword in its hand is also crumbling. Search left again, on the crumbling sword. Ecthel: The sword this statue hold in its hand is crumbling... You'll be prompted to take the sword (first option) or to leave it (second option). Take the sword. Ecthel: I'll take it, just in case. You will get the "Rusted Sword" and 1000 points. Ledah: I doubt such a sword will be of much use though... Rothe: There's no harm even if it's no good... It might be good to polish or sell it once we get to Riviera... Oh, but I guess there won't be much time. Now, search the Goddess Statue by pressing up. Rothe: This Goddess statue seems to be enclosing something in the palm of its hands. Search the Goddess Statue again. Ecthel: I'll search the palm of its hand. Rothe: Light is streaming down! Ecthel's AGL goes up by 1. Ecthel: It seems like my body somehow went lighter. Rothe: It probably isn't possible for Ecthel, so I'll go and get it. Here, this. Ecthel: Thanks, Rothe. You get the Power Wrist x 15. Though it isn't all that useful, Ecthel can learn an over skill from it (meaning it'll increase his stats). However, I suggest not using it in battle until later on, when you can access the practice battle option (so you won't sacrifice any ranks). Ecthel: A bracelet!? Ledah: An item used in battle... It's a bracelet that has the function of temporarily increasing the STR of the user. Rothe: You owe me big for this. Go right, on to screen 3. Screen 3 Rothe: I wonder... if demons will appear again? The battle, again, should be very easy, even if you don't have the dragon killer. Once you defeat Naga, you will recieve teh Fang of Naga x10. Now, go back left into screen 2. Screen 2 (Revisited) Go up, "Cross the Chain". Screen 4 Rothe: We have to go across the linked stones. Ecthel: I don't want to lok below. Ecthel: Yeah. In the field mode, go right, on to screen 5. Screen 5 Ecthel: Up to where does it chain continue? Rothe: I would like to believe that we're near Riviera already. Ledah: Complaining already... Never mind, the gate to Riviera should be beyond here. Ecthel: The gate to Riviera... In the field screen, search the tresure chest at the top. Ecthel: There's treasure chest. You are prompted is either open the chest (first option) or to not open it (second option). Open it. Ecthel: I wonder what's inside? You get the Orb of Fire x03. A rather useless item, save that Ecthel can learn an over skill from it. Again, I suggest you hold on to it without using it until the practice battle is available. Rothe: The Orb of Fire is an item that raises resistance against fire. Go right, on to the next area. Master Hector, please help Ecthel. Hector: It is useless familiar, we have lost that Death Bring Angelix. And some sacrifices are needed for duties. Give up. Rothe: Such a thing... Ledah: ... Hector: Now go, Death Bring Angelix! Perform the execution. Fairy: This Angel isn't disappearing at all... Fairy: Yeah. If he's a bad guy, he would be gone by now... Fairy: He's an Angel, but he's in pain? Fairy: An angel that won't damage Riviera? Fairy: There's no such thing. Fairy: But it seems to hurt. Fairy: He has a pure heart. Fairy: He's not bad? Fairy: This Angel's not bad? Fairy: I wonder. Fairy: Let's tell Master Ulsra. Fairy: Let's ask Master Ulsra. Ulsra: Like everyone says, he has a pure heart. This man might.... ...Yes. ... ...Yes... ... I understand. I agree with you al. Let us entrust him, the peace of Riviera... And our future... Stage Clear! - Heaven's Gate Hopefully you'll have an S for at least one row (first is clear turn, secondis item possession). "The mysterious wowan who appeared and Heaven's Gate called herself Ulsra. Using Divine language, she summoned the Guardian Beast Agharta. The Death Bring Angelixes succeed in executing Agharta, but at the end of the battle, Ecthel becomes missing. On the other hand, Ledah crosses Heaven's gate alone, finally entering the Land of Riviera." ------------- Elendia, the Forest of Spirits ***As much of the walkthrough in this section will cover rather useless conversation, the digest version of the actions you should take are: - Talk to Fiaa. (Inside Lyuri and Fiaa's house, first floor) - Talk to Lyuri. (second floor of above, or at the screen below the Pixia house) - Talk to the Pixia Boy twce, and get the item off him. (screen bleow Pixia house) - Talk to Kapi, the hobbit blacksmith three times, get him to repair the crumbling sword. (inside the house of the hobbit blacksmith). - Go talk to Nana twice (The room at the back of the magic guild, which can be found at the entrance to the crystal cave) - Go talk to Lulu (second screen at the Spring of Undine). - Go talk to Nono to get item (first screen at the Spring of Undine, the fairy to the right) - Go talk to Rebecca twice after you've talked to Nana, and she'll tell you where the Elder's house is. (First screen, Forest of Peacefulness) - Go to the Elder's house (second option for the list if you're going from anywhere other than Fiaa's house, top of list if you're going from Fiaa's house) - Go inside, listen to the conversation, go to the magic guild and talk to Chlord (green haired guy). Go back into the previous screen, and you get a path to go right. - Go right, Fiaa and Lyuri will join you and you will get weapons for them, and you'll go on to Chapter 2. Walkthrough: ?????: ... ... ... ... Huh? This place is... ?????: Fiaa, he awoke! Fiaa: Really? Lyuri? What a relief... ?????: I'm... Who... Lyuri: We were worried. You suddenly fell from the sky in the forest... Fiaa: Do you have any injuries? Lyuri: You don't, right? We couldn't just leave you like that, so we put medicinal herbs on your body... ?????: Eh, On my body!? Lyuri: Yeah, we washed your clothes too, because it was really dirty. ?????: ... ... ...Clothes... Fiaa: But we didn't look, I didn't look!! ?????: Yeah, thanks... Fiaa: (Phew) Lyuri: I'm Lyuri! I'm a Hyne-. Fiaa: I am Fiaa. ?????: Where is... Where is this place? Lyuri: This is the house of Lyuri and Fiaa-. ?????: No... not like that... Fiaa: This a town in Riviera, Elendia. ?????: Elendia! Riviera... Elendia... Lyuri: What's wrong? Do you have any thoughts? ?????: Riviera... I remeber hearing that name, but... Why am I here? Lyuri: Can you say your name? Ecthel : My name is... Ecthel. Fiaa: Master Ecthel... ... What a nice name. Whre does Master Ecthel come from? Ecthel: ... ... ... That... I can't remember... ... Lyuri: Eeh!? Fiaa: ...Have you lost your memory? Lyuri: If you can't remember anything but your name, then you've completely lost your memory~ Ecthel: What should I do... Fiaa: Um... Then how about your rest in this house, at least until you get your memory back, Ecthel: Eh... Is that ok? Lyuri: Of course (musical note). Fiaa: Of course you can, this is our house. Ecthel: Thank you... This is a great help. Elendia... Now, you're put in the field screen. Since this isn't formally in a chapter, you don't have to worry about turns and battles. So yeah, just for you to get an idea of the personality of the NPC townsfolk, I'll talk to everyone. In QUEST mode, you have two triggers, a "?????" up and "On top of Table" down. Choose "?????". ?????: Ah, Master Ecthel... Ecthel: (Her name is...) You're given three options, Hey, Fiaa (first option) Hey Cuaa (second option) Who was it? (thrid option). If you choose the first option, Fiaa's likeness towards you will increase, second option will decrease it, the third option will have no effect. I will be choosing the second option, since I'm going for the Rothe ending (don't we all love cats?). Fiaa: Master Ecthel, my name... is Fiaa. You still don't remember it... This town... how is it? It's not really for me, a resident to say, but I think it's a really nice town. Please rest until your body gets back into condition. The trigger will then change its name to "Fiaa". Check on top of the table (down). Ecthel: There's bread on top of the table. The trigger changes to "Bread". Press down again. Ecthel: The bread's soft and looks tasty. Option to Take it (first option) or not to (second option). Like any RPG hero, we should swallow our pride and take such oppotunities of theving from the home of two kind ladies (one who seems to be watching you). So choose option 1. Ecthel: I'll take this. You get the Bread x 10, and the trigger disappears. Sure a potion's much better, but well, you can always discard it later if it's unnecessary (probably is). In MOVE mode, you'll have left (Go Outside) and up (Second Floor, to Lyuri's Room). Go upstairs. Note that there's a random chance of Lyuri not being in her room. Since you don't have any turn restrictions, going back downstairs and coming back up will almost certainly have her in the room. Anyway, you will have 3 Quest triggers, Up (book), Left (Lyuri) and Right (Fairy). Examine the book, and the fairy will start talking. Coco: Nice to meet you, though I have met you several times while you were asleep. Oh, I guess that doesn't matter though. ...My name is Coco, I help the household chores here. I'm a helper, but recently all I've been doing everyday is cleaing up after Lyuri's mess... Oh... don't tell Lyuri I said that. Anyway, that book is called the Tomb of Memories, and can hold your memories. Please, make it of use. Save the game if you want. Talking to the Fairy before examining the book resluts in the same conversation as above, bar the last two lines. Talk to the Fairy again, just for the conversation. Coco: So, you want to hear about the private life of Fiaa and Lyuri? I'll tell you all about it next time. Fiaa, despite her appearance, is quite... Hmfffff... next time. Talk to Lyuri (left). Lyuri: Are you alright now? Ecthel: (How should I answer...) The three options are "Mmm, I still have blackouts", "Thanks" and "Where's the other girl?" (first, second and third options respectively). Go for the first option to lower how much she likes you, second to increase how much she likes you and the third for no change. Assuming the second option: Lyuri: Eh, maybe it's still not possible for you to walk? I'll go get you some bitter medicine later then. Ecthel: Medicine's a bit... Lyuri: Oooh, you're completely fine-. What a waste to have worried. Go into MOVE mode, press down for "First Floor, to Fiaa's Room". Then go left, outside. Talk to the fairy if you want. Fairy: This is the house of Fiaa and Lyuri. Now, Exit the screen (left). Ecthel: Where should I go? A list pops up, and you see: - Pixia's House - Hobbit Blacksmith - Entrance to Crystal Cave - Spring of Undine - Forest of Peacefulness - Stay in this place Go to the hobbit blacksmith. Go right, into the house. Go in QUEST mode, talk to the hobbit (up). Kapi: Welcome to Kapi's blacksmith! I'm alway's busy! The trigger changes to Kapi. Talk to him again. Kapi: Recently, there're many Demons. It's indeed a dangerous world. Talk to him again. Kapi: Do you have need for me? If you don't, bring me some ore. Oh, that's good, that's good. That weapon, can you lend it to Kapi? Ecthel: What should I do? This part only appears if you got the Crumbling Dagger in chapter 1. Anyway, the two options are Hand the Crumbling Dagger Over (first option) or not to (second option). Give it to him. Kapi: Uryaa---ryaryarya-- Ok, it's done! You recieve Iron Sword x50. Now, head outside, then EXIT. You get the options: - Lyuri and Fiaa's House - Pixia's House - Entrance to Crystal Cave - Spring of Undine - Forest of Peacefulness - Stay in this place Head to Pixia's house (just for some conversations. skip this part if you want). Once there, go inside (right). In the house, you will see two triggers (i.e. two people). If only the girl is there, go back outside then come back in, and hopefully the guy will be there as well. Anyway, the above trigger is "Pixia Man" and the Right trigger is "Pixia Woman". Talk to the man. Kyle: This is the place where spirits live... Me? I'm Kyle. The trigger changes to Kyle. Talk to him again. Kyle: Though it's peaceful, recently, tidings have been dark. They say that contact has stopped from Rozarina Island... I'm worried... Talk to the Pixia Woman (right). Millene: This is, I guess, the place of living for Elendia. Me? I'm Millene. The trigger changes to Milene. Talk to her again. Millene: You didn't come from Rozarina Island by any chance? No, that can't be true. Go outside, then downinto the next screen. You should see a Pixia Girl (left), Pixia Boy (right), and a random chance of Lyuri (up). Ignore Lyuri, as she talks the same stuff as the stuff she talks at her house. Talk with the Pixia Girl (left). Molan: Molan's Molan! Who are you? The trigger changes to Molan. Talk to her again. Molan: What's a demon? I hear if it often, from adults. Talk to the Pixia Boy (right). Gil: I'm Gil, I'm called Gil. Hey, could you duel with me! The trigger changes to Gil. Talk to him again. Gil: Talk to me about the outside! It's a promise! What? You want this weapon? If you tell me about the outside, I can give you it. Ecthel: What should I do? You get option to accept the Staff (first option) or not to (second option). Accept the staff. Gil: Ok, here. It's a promise. You get the staff of Collel Wood x50. Go up, and exit. You will, as usual, get a list: - Lyuri and Fiaa's House - Hobbit Blacksmith - Entrance to Crystal Cave - Spring of Undine - Forest of Peacefulness - Stay in this place Go to the Entrance to Crystal Cave. Once there, press up to go inside the cave. Talk to the Gnome (up). Ritz: My name is Ritz. Do you have any business with me? My job? That's mining crystals... The trigger changes to Ritz. Go up, in to the Magic Guild. In QUEST mode, talk to the Dryiad (left). Chlord: This is the Magic Guild, a place where one studies magic. I am Chlord, I collect knowledge here. Are you searching for anything? The trigger changes to Chlord. Talk to him again (just for the sake of it). Chlord: Since the demons have appeared, every day has been busy. But this is to protect Elendia... In MOVE mode, go right, "To the Room at the Back". In the room, you should have one, two or three triggers. "Witch", right. You should always get this. "Fairy", down. She appears at random. Just go back one screen and come back if you can't find her. "BookShelf", up. You will only get this trigger if you have finished the game at least once and you have cleared Chapter 8. If you do get this trigger, execute it to get the "Divine Document". Anyway, talk to thw witch. Soala: This is the Magic Guild. So, in other words, as place where magic is researched. I am Soala, a witch, though I'm still only helf-fledged...mumble. I'm still in the process of studying magic, but... Magic is hard, isn't it. Trigger changes to "Soala". Talk to her again (why not?). Soala: Damage done by the Demons is on the rise recently, so everyone seems busy. I've only just become a witch and am still studying magic, so I can't be of much help... Now, talk to the fairy (down). Nana: I am Nana. Don't get in my way, I'm busy. The trigger changes to Nana. Talk to her again. Nana: I just heard some interesting news! Lyuri apparaently confronted the Elder! I didn't hear the reason, but she seemed to be in a hurry. Talk to her again. Nana: The Elder's house? I think you understand, but how about asking somebody if you don't know? Me!? No, I'm not possible, because I'm busy. So, after we recieved that piece of vital information, go back left, "return to the previous room", then "Exit the Magic Guild" (down), then go left, and to EXIT. You get that familiar list, choose the fourth option, the Spirng of Undine. Here, you will have three quest triggers; "Fairy" (left), "Fairy" (right) and "Ground" (down). Note that the fairy to the right won't be there unless you took Nono along with you in Chapter 1. Talk to the fairy on the right, and ignore the rest. Nono: Aa---. Ecthel---you were safe. I was worried. Eh!? Who am I... H, how could you--- We went through that much adventure! ...No, just kidding, just kidding. I heard from Lyuri and Fiaa. It's a pity though... I was hoping you'd remember me... at least a little... Hehe... Pity-. Oh, this... A gift for saving me. You get the Frilly Ribbon x25, and the trigger changes to Nono. Talk to her again. Nono: Have you heard, have you heard? That is... the rumour that Fiaa and Lyuri stormed the Elder's house. I haven't heard the details, but I do hear a lot on demons recently. Go right, onto the next screen. You'll see two quest triggers, Undine (right) and Fairy (left). Talk to Undine, she won't talk. So talk to the Fairy. Lulu: Oh, you're a face I haven't seen. Since it's against manners to not state my name for people who have met for their first time, I'll say only my name. Lulu, of the Fairy. ...And about Mute, the Undine there, just because she can't say anything, don't to anything bad. She's a tragic girl, hasn't been able to speak for a long time. I heard that Undine's voice can be restored if you have the Waterdrop of Moonlight, but I have my doubts as to whether it's true. What are you looking at? Don't look at me with such eyes. I hate presumptuous spirits. The triggers change to Mute and Lulu. Go back left, and exit. Choose the second last option, to go to the Forest of Peacefulness. You'll get two triggers, Halpyuia (left) and fairy (above). Talk to the Halpyuia. Rebecca: Nice to meet you, I am Rebecca, Rebecca of the Halpyuia. Well, if something arises, give me a call. The trigger changes to Rebecca, talk to her agin. Rebecca: The Elder's house? It's the house all the way down the side. Now, the option to go to the Elder's house is added to the list when we exit here, but first, go right into the next screen. The are two triggers, Werecat (up) and Shilf (right). Talk to the Werecat. Marsha: The name's Marsha~. Meow~. Something smells nice~. Hm, you're a spirit? Meow~? The trigger changes to Marsha. Talk to the Shilf. Reche: I heard you got picked up? What an unlucky guy. You would've been better off being picked up by me. The trigger changes to Reche. Talk to him again (just for the sake of it). Reche: You don't even know where the Elder is? Ummm--, where was it? Go back, exit and choose the second option from the list to go to the Elder's House. Once there, go inside (right). Lyuri: So~~~! Why did you halt the investigation team going to Rozarina Island! Graham: As I have been explaining, it's because it's dangerous... Lyuri: Tell me what's dangerous~~. Graham: ... ... ... ...The future beyond. Lyuri: I don't understand--. Fiaa: Lyuri! Lyuri: Fiaa! They say that they're going to stop sending the investigation team! Fiaa: That can't be... Really, contact has been lost with the Arch Tribe of Rozarina Island. Perhaps the hand of the demons... We should hurry and confirm the cause. Graham: Fiaa... my loving GrandDaughter, please understand... This is because I am thinking for Elendia... Lyuri: So the Arch tribe doesn't matter if it's for Elendia? Lediah: Control your mouth! Lyuri! Lyuri: But! But~~! Lediah: Those not involved may not enter here! Graham: You are? Lyuri: Ecthel came to side with Lyuri and us! Ecthel: ...If you're busy... I'll.. Fiaa: Wait... Please listen! Master Ecthel, my GrandFather has cancelled the investigation team to Rozarina Island! Ecthel: Rozarina Island? Fiaa: A lone island, situated far from Elendia. Ecthel: Did something happen at this ROzarina Island? Lyuri: It seems the Arch tribe living on the Island was hit by demons. Lediah: It's not confirmed that they were hit! It's just that there's no contact... Fiaa: ...But if the Arch tribe is really being attacked, the damage of the Demons may eventually spread to the whole of Riviera. Lyuri: Elendia was supposed to send an investigation team, but... The ELder says to cancel it-! Ecthel: I see... So that's what it was all that. Fiaa: GrandFather... Please. Send an investigation team to Rozarina Island. Graham: It has been decided already by Elendia that we will not end an ivestigation team... Fiaa: I have misjudged you, GrandFather. Lyuri: Hmph! Lediah: Fiaa! Lyuri! Wait! Graham: ... ... ... Ecthel: ... ... ... About Rozarina Island... What are going to do? Lyuri: I can't give up-! The Arch tribe were friendly at the Kite Raising Competition-! Fiaa: Lyuri! Let us go, even if it just ourselves. Lyuri: Yeah! Even if it's just Lyuri and us, we can go and confirm-! Ecthel: How, with just the two of you? Isn't it far to Rozarina Island... Fiaa: We will use the Magical Field. Lyuri: We'l be there in an istant if we go through there! Ecthel: Isn't it dangerous? The Elder seemed worried too, perhaps it's better not to do anything dangerous. Fiaa: But... The situation is too critical. Lyuri: Yeah-. Ecthel can stay back at the house-. Fiaa: We do not intend to cause any trouble to Master Ecthel. Lyuri: You're our guest, so. If you ask Coco, I think she'll at least prepare meals-. Bye-! Ecthel: Those two, they really are going to go... They were saying something about a Magical Field...? You'll be in the field mode. Go to the Crystal Cave (fourth option). Go in, go up, and talk to Chlord (left). Chlord: The Magical Field...? It is located further back in this Crystal Cave. But it's a place where noone comes close willingly... Go back to the previous screen (down). Oh, and note that "Arch" for the Arch tribe is pronounced Arc (or Ark, if you want). Ecthel: Huh? Looking closely, there's a path leading further into the cave. Go right. Fiaa: Lyrui, you won't regret this? Lyuri: It's to help the Arch tribe! Fiaa: Then let's go! To Rozarina Island! Ecthel: Wait a minute~~~! Fiaa, Lyuri...! Fiaa: Master Ecthel! You came for us! Lyuri: What, why'd you come? Ecthel: Are you really going, knowing the danger... Lyuri: It's no use trying to stop us~. Fiaa: Yes, we shall go. Ecthel: It can't be helped... If there's no use talking, then I'll just have to go along... I may not be of any use though. Lyuri: That's not true! Fiaa: Yes... Then, let us go. Fiaa and Lyuri join your party, giving you a Rapier x 50 and a Long Bow x50. Throw away some potions or Spider Webs bread if you're out of space. Lyuri: Rozarina Investiagation Team Party, departing~~! Ledah: Master Hector... Hector: Death Bring Angelix, have you been able to specify the whereabouts of Ulsra? Ledah: No. Hector: The real body of Ulsra is at the heart of Riviera... ...sitting at the Yggdrassil region. Continue searching for the entrance to the Yggdrassil region. For the Death bring Angelix that died, too. Ledah: ... ... ... Hector: Find it out, at all costs. I'm counting on you. For the execution for the Gods! Ledah: Understood. For the execution for the Gods. Hector: I didn't expect Ulsra to plan sabotage... To execute the Divine Punishment, Ulsra must be removed. Is there no other way but to summon the sealed one... For that, the souls of the spirits is needed... Malice... The souls of the Demonic island is still not enough. More is needed... The soul of the spirits... All is for the execution for the Gods... ------------- Chapter 2: After the Inquiry ------------- "The place where Ecthel, who lost his memory, awoke... There was the town in Riviera, Elendia. Elednia, too cautious of the deepening Demonic invasion, did not take up any action, even when contact with the Arch tribe was lost. Spirit Fiaa and Siprit Lyuri, unable to cope with the inaction, along with Ecthel who accompanies the two, uses the forbidden Magical Field to attempt to invade Rakrima Castle. ------------- The Black Demonic Castle Rakrima Area 2-1 The Hill of Villhelm - A steep cliff situated on an island at the Eastern edge of Riviera. During the warm Summer and Spring, many sea birds come to reproduce. MAP: _____ _____ _____ | 1 |__| 2 |__| 3 |> |_____| |_____| |_____|> Quests: Screen 1 - (Red, Up) Grass Bathed in Morning Dew You will be prompted to either collect (first option) or not to (second option). Collecting will give you a further two options, "Your HP Recovers" (first option) and "I'm not sure" (second option). Choosing the first will raise Lyuri's affinity for Ecthel, while choosing the second will yeild no event. Choosing not to collect will give you no event, and you will not be prompted again. Executing this trigger will create the trigger "Grass Patch on Corner of ROck". - (Red, Right) Grass Patch on Corner of ROck Onlt apears if you have activated the trigger "Grass Bathing in Morning Dew". You'll be prompted with the options "It's broken, so we don't need it" and "Glad you found it", first and second options respectively. Choosing not to take the dagger will result in a slight decrease in Lyuri's affinity for Ecthel, while the second option will result in a slight rise in Lyuri's affinity and you get a Crumbling Dagger plus 500 points. Screen 2 - (Red, up) Dark Green Grass Patch You'll be prompted to take it with you (first option) or not to (second option). Taking it will give you a small rock and 500 points. If you choose the second option, Ecthel's STR will be raised by 1. Screen 3 - Nothing Walkthrough: You are prompted to proceed to the next area (first option) or to save your game (second option). Screen 1 Ecthel: This place is... Where...? Fiaa: It should probably be near the Rakrima Castle. Lyuri: Yay-, were really were able to come here in an instant-. Ecthel: The Elder might be worried now... Fiaa: The Black Demonic Castle Rakrima, if we investigate here and report it, Grandather will understand. Lyuri: Yep, yep-. Now, let's give it our best, everyone-. Ecthel: Um, are we REALLY going to investigate that castle? It might be dangerous, it may be better not to... Lyuri: Aaargh~, so you still say such things~. If demons have appeared and everyone's in trouble, we have to help them! You think so too, right, Ecthel? Ecthel: Yes, that's true, but is it really alright just by ourselves? Fiaa: We will protect Master Ecthel, no matter what happens. Lyuri: That's right! Then, let's hurry! You are put in the field mode. Go into quest mode, and check the Grass Bathed in Morning Dew (up). Fiaa: Ah? Lyuri: Fiaa, come on~. Ecthel: What's wrong? Fiaa: Please, wait for a moment. Ah, as I thought. Here, medicinal herbs are growing in such a place. This Hill of Villhelm is famous for being able to collect high quality herbs. But since it's equally dangerous, there's next to o chance of anyone coming here to collect herbs. Ecthel: Medicinal Herbs... Fiaa: Yes. Considering what's going to happen from now, it may be good if we collect some now. Ecthel: What should we do...? You can collect (first option) or not (second option). Choose to collect. Ecthel: Yes, let's collect some. Fiaa: It's valuable nature... Let us gather some, as a sign of appreciation. Ecthel: Yeah. You get Herbs of Healing x15. These you can later change into potions, so if you have some extra right now, throw them away to make room. Fiaa: I heard that potions are made from Herbs of Healing. I believe I will be able to make them, once I accumulate a little more experience. Lyuri: What's a potion? You're prompted "Your HP Recovers" (first option) and "I'm not sure" (second option). Choosing the first will raise Lyuri's affinity for Ecthel, but since we don't want to be liked, go for the second option. Ecthel: Um... Fiaa: Your HP recovers when you drink a potion. Lyuri: Oh, I see~. Ecthel: ... ... Fiaa: Master Ecthel... Please don't feel depressed about that. Lyuri: What's wrong? You're spaced out~. Ecthel, Oh, nothing. Fiaa: Then, shall we get going? Ecthel: Yeah. Once back into field mode, go back into MOVE mode. Lyuri: Ah, there's a grass patch over there too. Go back into quest mode, check the grass patch on the corner of the rock (right). If you want to cut back on your turn usage, just ignore this trigger and go straight to screen 2. Lyuri: I wonder if there's anything else. Maybe there's something dropped around here. Fiaa: Lyuri... Lyrui: Hmm...!? Ecthel: What happened, Lyuri? Lyuri: See, something's buried here. Fiaa: True... Lyuri, you're great! Ecthel: This is a dagger... You're prompted to select "It's broken, so we don't need it" (first option) and "Glad you found it" (second option). If you select the second option, you will get the crumbling dagger which can later be restored in Elendia to become a Silver Dagger. But in this instance, choose the first option in order to decrease Lyuri's affinity. Ecthel: This just might not be all that usable. The blade area seems to be damaged too... Fiaa: Master Ecthel! Lyuri: Uuh... I though Ecthel would be happy... Ecthel: S, sorry. Lyuri: Don't worry about it. Ehehe, I got carried away in searching for treasure. Now, go on right, into screen 2. Screen 2 Ecthel: Are there spirits in Rakrima Castle? Fiaa: I believe there aren't any now. Until jsut recently, it was under guard by the Arch tribe, but should have become uninhabited since Demons started to appear. Ecthel: Is that so... Enemy: Rustle, rustle... Lyuri: Wawah! It's a Demon~! Fiaa: What should we do... Would it be better if we fought? You're prompted either to fight or run. Choose to fight. Fiaa: Let us go, Lyuri! Lyuri: Ecthel, can you stay at the back row then! Fiaa: We will cover the front row! Ecthel: Front row? Back row? Lyuri: Aaargh! Front row refers to the row in front and back row means the row at the back-. Ecthel: No... I know that, but... Fiaa: Master Ecthel, various enemy attacks target close enemies, distant enemies, and... Lyuri: Front row and back row, and there are some which effect the whole party. Ecthel: Hmmm, is that so... Fiaa: The enemy this time is... a Roper Plant. Plant type enemies attack those who are close by, so... Lyuri: Ecthel's at the back! Be at the back row~. Fiaa: Lyuri and I shall protect Master Ecthel. Lyuri: That's right! Note that you can't get an S (or anything over a B) rank if Ecthel hasn't learnt any over skills during Chapter 1. Not that it really matters, but it may be of huge concern to those who're aiming for a high score. Anyway, the enemy is easy, use Fiaa and Lyuri's weapons (Rapier and Long Bow, respectively) to gain some exp with them, and the Loper Plant should be down in no time. If you defeat it with a S rank, you will recieve a Thorn Whip x05, if you defeat it at any other rank you will get Sleeping Vine x05. Ecthel: ...We won. Fiaa: Amazing! Mater Ecthel, you truly are stong! I am surprised, you seem to be more used to battle then ourselves. Ecthel: Why could I fight... I never fought before. I don't know myself, but when I held my sword, my body moved naturally... Lyuri: That's not true you never fought, right~. Ecthel: I don't know... Lyuri: Oh well, it's good. Now we can beat them easily~. Ecthel: We are counting on you, Master Ecthel. Ecthel: A, ah, don't rely on me too much. Lyuri: Hey, hey, let's have Ecthel decide our formation from now on~. Ecthel: I'm deciding? Fiaa: Yes. Considering how master Ecthel fought just then, we will be able to leave it you without any worries. Lyuri: Then it's decided-. Ecthel: It's decided!? Lyuri: Now let's go, Fiaa, Ecthel-! You're in the field screen. Go into quest mode and search the "Dark Green Grass Patch" (up). ------------- Enemies Enemy Teams Area 1-1 Scene 1 - 野に放たれた魔獣 (Demonic Beast released into the wild) Cannot Run Away 1 x Hell Hound (Front Row, center) 1500Pts Tactics: As the hell hound is weak against fire, Ledah's attack is very effective. There is no worry of being defeated. Scene 3 - 飢えた牙を剥く者 (Those who bear starving fangs) Cannot Run Away 1 x Gremlin (front row, right) 1 x Bug Bear (back row, right) 1 x Fringe Beast (back row, left) 1500Pts Tactics: Gremlin's Max Skill "Land Cracker" is a very powerful move which halves everyone's HP. If you get hit in the early stages of the battle, it will be a tough battle. Area 1-2 Screen 2 - 魔界の蛮勇 (The reckless courage of the Demonic World) Cannot Run Away 1 x Gremlin (front row, right) 1 x Berserker (back row, left) 1500Pts Tactics: The Berserker in the back row has a low hit rate but high strength, requiring attention. He will target far away charcters (Ledah). Area 1-3 Screen 2 - 小さな魔獣使い (The Small Demonic Beast Master) Cannot Run Away 1 x Gremlin (back row, left) 1 x Firnge Beast (front row, right) 1500Pts Tactics: Fringe Beast has a large HP, but since beast types generally are weak against fire, it can be defeated easily by concentrating attacks of Ledah. Screen 3 - 天下る蜘蛛 (The Spider Descending from the Heavens) Cannot Run Away 2 x Arcmene (back row, center / front row, center) 2500Pts Tactics: The attack of the arcmene in the back row using the web is troublesome because it not only does damage, but has an added effect of increasing wait. Area 1-4 Scene 2 - 魂を狩る者 (One Who Hunts Souls) Cannot Run Away 1 x Lilith (front row, right) 1 x Hell Hound (back row, center) 2500Pts Tactics: The Lilith in the front row is usually uses a single target attack, but with rage mode uses front row attack and at max mode an all target atttack, so be very careful! Area 1-5 Scene 2 - 岩上の竜 (Dragon Above the Rock) Cannot Run Away 1 x Red Dragon (front row, center) 7500Pts Tactics: It has a high HP, and is strong against the fire element, so it's troublesome. If you have the dragon killer which holds absolute strength against dragon types, this will be place you'll want to use it. Area 1-9 Scene 2 - 古き神殿の住人 (The Inhabitiants of the Old Temple) Can Run Away 1 x Berzerker (front row, right) 1 x Bug Bear (front row, left) 1 x Fringe Beast (back row, center) 4000Pts Tactics: Bug Bear's Max skill "Rumble Beat" is an attack that gets stronger as there is less HP left. Don't take it easy until you defeat it! Area 1-6 Scene 3 - 風を切り裂く翼 (The Wings Slicing the Wind) Can Run Away 1 x Naga (front row, center) 4000Pts Tactics: When you defeat Naga, the fang of Naga can be acquired. The system works by changing acquired items by your rank and the enemy you defeat last. Scene 4 - ダーククイーンズ (Dark Queens) Can Run Away 2 x Lilith (front row, left / front row, right) 2500Pts Tactics: The Max skill of Lilith, "Dark Squeeze" has an effect of recovering the same amount of HP dealt in the attack for all allies. Area 1-7 Scene 2 - 美女と飛竜 (The Beauty and the Wyvern) Can Run Away 1 x Lilith (back row, center) 1 x Naga (front row, center) 4000Pts Tactics: Both are tough charcters, but as they are in one vertical line, both can be damaged at once by Ledah's piercing attack. Area 1-8 Scene 3 - 守護聖獣/アガルタ (Holy Guardian Beast / Agharta) Cannot Run Away 1 x Aghart (front row, center) 12000Pts Tactics: Aghart is adept as using fire element attacks. If you have the "Orb of Fire" which increases fire resistance, it may be good to use it. Area 2-1 Scene 2 - 魔性の草花 (The Demonic Flower Plant) Can Run Away 1 x Roper Plant (front row, center) 1000Pts Tactics: It's HP is rather high, but its low VIT allow for easy damage. As there is only one enemy, you can ignore strategy and overcome it with brute force. Q: About the translation, I noticed that the characters keep calling eachother "~chan" or "~san". Why isn't these included? A: Generally, a translation is a conversion of a piece of writing into another language. Leaving "~chan" and "~san", etc. on the ends of names may be appropriate in some respects (e.g. if you're writing something addressed to people with some knowledge of Japanese culture), but in technical terms, it is an incomplete translation (yeah, do this in a translation exam and you'll be critisized heavily. Like, really heavily. Thankfully, I never done such an error, but a classmate did). Anyway, since I am writing this Guide for all audiences, I decided not to include such prefixes, since the English equivalent of these are just calling someone by their first name. Q: When should I learn Over Skills? A: It depends on whether you want a high score, or to collect all items, see all conversations, get more S rankings for battles, etc. If you hold off learning over skills until later Chapters, your characters will end up having higher max HP than if you learnt them earlier in the game. The payoff is that the battles will be harder, and some will be impossible to get unless you have learnt certain over skills (e.g. In the first few battles of Chapter 2, you won't be able to get S rankings unless you have learnt the over skill from the Fang of Naga, and use it along with the Power Wrist). Note that if you do wish to learn over skills later rather than now, you will have to keep the item, reducing your available items. Q: Ecthel's stats suddenly dropped when I finished Chapter 1! Is this a bug? Or did I do something wrong? A: In chapter 1, you start of with an event item, the "Rozary of Immorality". In its definiton, it states that it was given to Ecthel by Hector, and that it is a forbidden item that draws out more power than that which the wearer possesses. After Chapter 1, the description changes to say that it was brokwen during the battle with Agharta. Q: Where do I get the extra contents of the Game? A: Q: How many ending are there in total? A: There are 6 endings, 4 with each of the main heroines (Cierra, Fiaa, Lyuri, Serene) and 2 with Rothe - Her ending changes if you get her ending after you've seen all 4 of the heroine endings. Q: How do I get the other characters to like me? A: In the game, there are two "hidden" (they're not really hidden, just that noone explains to you what they are, and it's hard to figure out and its not visible other than a really vague indication at the status screen) parameters. They are "Affinity" (好感度), how much the girl likes you, can be raised by events and dealing the finishing hit in battles (doesn't count for practice battles, you'll see a musical note), and "Reliance" (信頼度), how much the girl trusts you, which can be raised only by events. Generally, Affinity Reliance increase or decrease in events at the same rate (so if you say something they like, both Affinity and Reliance will increase). Having a high Reliance value with a female character will lead to you getting her ending (if there are several characters with a high Relaince value, you'll get the girl with the highest). Having high Affinity slightly increases the MGC and STR of the character in battle, and will be a factor determineing your rank at the end of the chapter (i.e. How many characters have high enough affinity). Affinity is reset every chapter, though a portion of her afffinity value will be carried over, depending on where she placed in relation to other character's affinity (i.e. So if Cierra had the highest affinity out of the 4 main heroines, a high proportion of her affinity will be carried over to the next chapter). Characters with high enough Affinity to be counted as "Satisfied" at the end of chapter ranking will have a musicla note in the status screen, the character with the highest Reliance, assuming the value is high enough, will get a heart symbol. If the character has a high enough Affinity, has the highest Reliance compared to other characters but the Reliance value is not high enough, she will get a star mark (unconfirmed). It is worth noting that both Affinity and Reliability will decrease dramatically (not bad enough to not be able to go to any endings, but still a significant drop) for all characters if you do etiher one or both of the "Forest Bathing" events (i.e. You peek at the girls taking a bath). Q: I can't seem to be able to get to Chapter X-9 (where X is any number). A: Generally, the 9th area of any chapter requires you to do something special (like activating a specific trigger, finishing a set area with specific turns, having or not having various items, etc.). See the guide for more details. ------------- ------------- (00X) Copyright 2003, White_Reflection.
