This is a guide with a full walkthrough containing mini-maps to let you know where to go, as well as getting 100% item collection. Aside from the walkthrough itself, there will also be in-depth item lists for upgrades, Missile Tanks, and more. Pretty much, this guide will be just like my other 2D Metroid guides. Metroid Fusion is a game that is, chronologically, the last Metroid game. As of writing this, there is no other Metroid game that takes place after Fusion, but there very well may be. It takes place some time after Super Metroid, where Samus joins in with a Galactic Federation crew for a routine excavation at SR388. Samus encounters a mysterious, floating, yellow creature that suddenly attacks her, and then all sorts of complications happen to her, leading up to the events that happen in the game. The story will be looking on more in the Story section. Hope you enjoy the FAQ! This guide uses ASCII art arranged in Lucida Console, a fixed-width font. There are two versions of the "story thus far" found in the manual. I will list them both. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------- HOVERING ENERGY ORGANISM: Metroid ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ In Cosmic year 20X5, a Galactic Federation exploration vessel discovered an unknown organism on SR388. The hovering creature was a Metroid, an entity that exhibited frightening parasitic, energy-absorbing properties. Some time later, gifted bounty hunter Samus Aran was dispatched alone to engage the Zebesian Space Pirates who abducted the Metroid specimen for use as a weapon. On Zebes, Samus also encountered the biomechanical Mother Brain, leader of the Space Pirates, and dispatched her in a bitter fight. From then on, Metroids were viewed as a highly dangerous life form. Eventually, Samus Aran was sent to SR388 to exterminate the last remaining Metroids--but only after an entire Federation platoon was wiped out in an earlier attempt. At the end of her battle on SR388, one Metroid hatchling was born before Samus's eyes and it imprinted upon her as a mother figure. Samus took this larval Metroid, the last in the universe, to the Galactic Space Academy for observation and research. This research revealed several possible applications of Metroid-based technology for the betterment of humanity. The unique energy-absorption properties of Metroids could be harnessed when they were artificially reproduced in captivity. Just when it seemed as if peace might prevail in the galaxy, Space Pirates returned for the Metroid hatchling and took it back to Zebes. Samus followed the Pirates back to Zebes and fought to exterminate their threat and save the last Metroid. In the final battle with Mother Brain, the hatchling saved Samus, giving up its life in the process. Samus succeeded in defeating Mother Brain, but the universe lost the promise of using Metroids for the power of good. ------------------------------------------- FROM THE JOURNAL OF SAMUS ARAN... ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ SR388. A vile planet, former home of the Metroids. After so many years, the remaining creatures on this planet still seemed to be trying to recreate a natural hierarchy, one without Metroids at the top. Biologic Space Labs was hired by the Federation to observe this restructuring of the ecosystem. And because of my experience on SR388, the Federation governor for this sector hired me to provide field assistance on the planet. So, once again I found myself drawn to that forsaken rock. The biological sample collection was going smoothly on the planet's surface when I came into contact with an organism I had never before encountered. The organism was an undiscovered, unnamed parasitic life form, which the researchers later called "X." Thinking little of it at the time, I boarded a ship and set out for the next collection point. Suddenly I felt my entire body seize up, and I lost consciousness. The ship began to drift away from planetary orbit toward an asteroid belt. Thankfully, an auto-escape pod jettisoned me from the craft before the ship was destroyed. The researchers in the newly-constructed research station orbiting SR388 sent a shuttle to recover the pod shortly thereafter. However, in the time since my infection, the X had multiplied rapidly in my body and had even infected my Power Suit. My heart rate and blood pressure dropped rapidly as I fell into a deep coma. The Onboard Medic Simulation predicted only a 0.873% prognosis for survival. I was transported to Galactic Federation HQ for emergency medical treatment. The fact that my Power Suit contained biological components and was also integrally connected to my body seemed to worsen the matter. The Federation surgeons were unable to remove the suit while I was unconscious. Their only choice was to cut and remove parts of the infected suit from my still-unconscious form; immediately after, they sent the suit parts to the Biologic Space Labs research station for study. Even with the parts removed, however, the X infection was spreading rapidly through my nervous system, and the researchers monitoring my deterioration knew of no cure... Someone proposed a desperate treatment: create a vaccine from Metroid cells. Apparently the Federation had preserved a cell culture from the last Metroid. The scientists quickly prepared and administered the vaccine. The symptoms of the infection disappeared instantly, and all of the X parasites within me died in moments. I am still amazed by the serendipity of this result... When I woke, the scientists told me that the hatchling had saved my life once again. Almost immediately after I awoke, we received a distress call from the research station. "Emergency! Explosion of unknown origin in the Quarantine Bay!" The screams from the com receiver were loud enough for me to hear even in the infirmary. I knew that something terrible was going to happen...was already happening. I immediately boarded the ship the Federation had provided me and sent a reply message: "Docking with Biologic Space Labs station in 10 minutes. Prepare the landing bay!" _______________________________________________________________________________ O _________________________________________ O \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / X--------------X C O N T R O L S X--------------X / \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \_________________________________________/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \ O O ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Metroid Fusion is played on the Game Boy Advance. Instead of the usual energy pellets or pickups, Samus gets her energy and ammo back by absorbing free-floating X Parasites that come from defeated creatures. The color of the X Parasite determines what you get. Yellow is energy, green is ammo, red restores both at a fair amount, and blue (when you have the Varia Suit) restores a lot of energy and ammo. There are certain types of X more powerful than traditional X, encased in hard, spiky shells. These are Core-X. The shell can be broken with enough explosive force, and once Samus absorbs this giant X, she will restore a vast amount of her energy and ammo, as well as gain a lost ability... In this game, Samus can now hang on to ledges. From the ledge, you can either jump away by holding away and then jump, or just climb up by pressing either toward the ledge or up. She cannot shoot while hanging from a ledge. If a small opening is above her when hanging, and you have the Morph Ball, pressing up will let her immediately use the Morph Ball as she pulls herself up. Once Samus has the Charge Shot, she can do a special Spin Jump Attack by somersault jumping while her Arm Cannon is fully charged. This attack can damage or even kill enemies when you come into contact with them. The power of the attack is only equal to how powerful the Beam currently is. There's a few new objects that Samus can interact with. In special rooms, such as Save Rooms, Refill Rooms, or Navigation Rooms, she can utilize them by standing still on the pressure plate in the center. There's also sometimes ladders, seen as kind of uneven walls. When Samus jumps toward these, she can climb up and down it by using the D-Pad, and she can stop and aim around to shoot in five directions. She can get off by jumping away from the ladder. Finally, there are sometimes handlebars on the ceilings. Samus can climb left or right along these with the D-Pad, and can aim in five directions. By pressing the jump button, Samus lets go of these bars. _______________________________________________________________________________ O _________________________________________ O \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / X--------------X W A L K T H R O U G H X--------------X / \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \_________________________________________/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \ O O ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ When you start the game, you're given a little text-less intro showing that, for some reason, Samus decides to crash into an asteroid field while following along a Federation vessel. Why does she do that? Well, start a file to figure that out! In the file select, you can either start a new file, continue an existing one, delete an existing one, copy an existing one, and change the sound output. If you're wearing headphones plugged into the GBA, you get better sound by picking the headphones icon. Otherwise, pick the GBA icon. Anyway, get started on a file! This game is story-centric unlike most other Metroid games. There aren't too many cutscenes, to say, but there is a lot of text explaining certain things and telling you where you should go next to advance the story. As such, many Metroid fans don't really prefer Fusion very much, but I actually do. It's not TOO linear, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Anyway, for the times where you will be reading text, I will give brief summaries of what they say, and those summaries will be surrounded in asterisk (*) lines. So if you want to read this without having the story spoiled, you can avoid the text surrounded in those asterisks. Also, for maps shown here, here's a legend of things in the map, to explain what they are. She was off for a routine check on SR388 with a Federation platoon, when she was attacked by a strange creature she hadn't seen before. Later on, during a flight, she suddenly lost consciousness and her ship was sent hurtling to an asteroid belt. Thankfully, her emergency escape system jettisoned her out of the ship before it was destroyed. A Federation shuttle picked her up. Samus was completely infected by this creature as it had propagated inside her. This creature was later called to be "X." Samus was on the verge of death, and yet the doctors couldn't do much of anything. They cut and removed parts of her suit since they couldn't completely remove it, and sent her suit parts to B.S.L. for further study. Yet, that didn't prove to be much use. She was still infected and rapidly degenerating. Suddenly, someone devised a plan...to use Metroid cells to overcome the X infection. They had preserved a cell culture from the last Metroid, so they quickly devised a vaccine and administered it. Almost immediately, her symptoms ceased and the X inside her disappeared in a matter of minutes. As Samus regained consciousness, suddenly a distress call was made out to the Federation from the B.S.L. Station. A mysterious explosion occurred in the Quarantine Bay. Samus was immediately sent off towards B.S.L. with a new ship provided by the Federation, complete with an advanced, onboard computer. As she flew along her flight plan, Samus had a slight worry of what she could be facing...and is reminded of a CO she once had before, having to take orders from a computerized CO. ************************* _____________________________ |.._________________________..| |:/ \:| || ___ || || : : MAIN DECK || || | : || || __| |_____ || || <<:N: : : | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| | || || | |_______ || || | : : S| || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Once docked, the computer tells you to head over to the Quarantine Bay, and puts a marker on the room where you're supposed to be. You'll notice that one of the pods has broken open, and there's major damage to the overall room. However, there's just a Hornoad here. Kill it and grab the X Parasite for some energy. Report back at the Navigation Room. ************************* The computer tells that the specimens brought back from HQ were unfortunately infected by X Parasites. He explains what they've learned about the X...that they can invade a body and spread quickly, killing the specimen and copying its DNA so that it may be able to mimic the host. Samus survived from being killed due to the Metroid vaccine. He tells you that due to your changed cellular makeup, you can no longer be infected by X again, and that you can actually absorb free-floating Parasites to restore your energy and ammo. After the research lesson, the computer advises that the X are too dangerous to let loose into the breeding environments. As of the meantime, massive bio-signs are found in a remote part of the Main Deck. We must head there. ************************* _________________________ |.._____________________..| |:/ \:| || ____ || || ___ | :N:>> || || : :___| :¯¯ || || | : :S: ¯| || || __| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || >>:N: : || || ¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The lock on Level 0 doors is open. These are Zombie Researchers. They go down extremely easily, just one shot. Climb up, past the Geron barrier, and through the door at the top into another Navigation Room. ************************* We have received news from HQ. They will provide us with downloadable weapons data. They will be sending Missiles. With Missiles, Samus's survival probability will rise considerably. You'll spot some light coming from a vent. Blow open the cover with a Missile, then jump in. Kill the Geron with three Missiles, then drop through the floor behind it. Go up and then down, shoot through the wall, and keep continuing. Eventually you'll pass behind a closed-in tunnel. You'll see a Missile Tank to your right! Pick it up, [MISSILE TANKS: 01/48], then drop and enter the next room to the left. Shoot one of the ledges for another Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 02/48] Exit and head out of the vents to the right. In here, you can climb up for a Save Room. To the right is a Gadora, which is a giant eye door. Shoot Missiles at it when it isn't flashing and pupil-less, and eventually it'll go down. Pick up the Red X (which restores a good chunk of energy and ammo) and enter the door. In this next room, the boss is just below. Hang from the grab ledges and jump from them up and right. You'll eventually come to your first Energy Tank! [ENERGY TANKS: 01/20] Now, before dropping down, stand on the left ledge and shoot a Missile at the ceiling. Shoot once more, then jump through the opening and walk right to a hidden room with yet another Energy Tank. Grab it, then exit and fall to the boss. [ENERGY TANKS: 02/20] ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Arachnus-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This boss is a Core-X mutated into an Arachnus. He can spit fire that spreads along the ground, hang from a ledge to dodge. He can also slash his claws, creating blue energy waves. Just jump those. Finally, Arachnus can also roll into a ball and ram into the wall you're close to. If you're hanging on the wall, this can knock you off, so be sure to jump away before he impacts if you are in that situation. Arachnus-X can be taken down with Beam shots, but it's much more effective to hit it with Missiles. It may get aggravated, but it deals a lot more damage. Once the Arachnus form is defeated, the Core-X inside attempts to ram into you. Shooting it with Beams can release minor X for refills, but the way to kill Core-X is to Missile it. After it's done flashing, fire again. After three Missiles, the Core-X barrier breaks, and the X inside is free to collect. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[MORPH BALL ACQUIRED]] Yay! Now you can use the Morph Ball! To use, simply press down while crouching when on the ground, or down twice in rapid succession when in the air. The Morph Ball can be used to squeeze through narrow openings you normally can't get through. You can get out of Morph Ball by pressing up. Now let's use our new ability to get out of this area. Roll left, jump over the debris, and jump towards the opening to grab. Press up and Samus will Morph while pulling herself up. Head through the dark hall here by climbing the ladders. When you get to a wall with weak blocks connecting to the other side, you need to hang on the ladder and shoot the blocks. Until we get the Bombs that's what you need to do. At the end, you'll be at the room where you found the first Geron. You can destroy it to gain access to a Recharge Room if you want, but we mostly need to get back to a Nav Room. So do it. ************************* The computer gives you troubling news. The breeding environments have been invaded by X Parasites. Sector 1 (SRX) is showing several abnormalities. This Sector simulates the SR388 ecosystem. To get to the breeding environments, we need to take the Main Elevator to the access shaft and go down Elevator 1. We'll get more info from the Nav Room just inside Sector 1. ************************* ________________________ |..____________________..| |:/ \:| || ___________ || || | : : : |_ || || | |¯¯¯¯¯: | :O| || || v |¯¯¯: :¯<< || || v ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Just outside the Nav Room in the dark hall, you can access the freezer for large biospecimens, to the left. However, if you take a look in that freezer...there's a frozen corpse of Ridley!? How do they have Ridley here? As you climb up, you'll see a small tunnel going off to the right. Roll through to grab a Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 03/48] Roll back out and enter the door at the top. Jump across, roll under the wreckage, then head over to the Main Elevator. As a result, we can't get back to the Main Deck as of now. Some kind of powerful, inhuman agent is at work here. In either case, we need to fix the problem in Sector 1. Just go up and around to the other side, then shoot three Missiles at the Geron in the opening to destroy the blockage. Four units left! Approach the colorful flashing door to make it open, head in. In here, we have to deal with Hornoads and Halzyns. Some X's from the Hornoads change into Halzyns, so beware of that. The Halzyns have armored wings, but they can be killed if either of those wings take two Missile hits. Its weak point is its body though. Either way, there's an Energy Tank here. Go down and take the next door to the left. This hall is just nothing but a few Motos that can be killed from the front with Missiles, just Beams from behind. Just make it to the end. Once in the vertical passage, jump across and enter the left door. In this lava room, jump up towards the ceiling handlebars while pressing up to grab them. Climb left, and drop down with A to get a Missile Tank. We'll come back here when we can traverse lava. Climb back and exit. [MISSILE TANKS: 04/48] Go down the passage here, past the Zebesian-X enemies which are only vulnerable to Missiles. At the bottom, enter the next room which is just slightly flooded and has a Sciser, then go right to the next major room. Not much to do to get around to the Geron here, just jump across the gap, climb up the ladder on the right wall, line yourself up, and shoot the thing. [MISSILE TANKS: 05/48] Grab it, go on out, and then take the lower right door. Climb up the next room while killing the Zebesians, then enter the door at the top. Shoot the light to open the gate, head on through. Here in this flooded room, you need to always stay above the water. Climb the bars while shooting down Scisers, then at the end, shoot the left wall. Drop, jump to the opening, and head in. Drop, then you have two choices: the door below, or the Gadora above. The door leads to a Save Room so you might as well use it. The Gadora leads to a bit of a boss, but you have to fight the Gadora while on the ladder, making it a bit difficult to dodge its beams. Either way, once it's gone, head in. ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Charge Core-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Approach the left side where you will find a Chozo Statue holding an Item Sphere. Shoot the Sphere to reveal...the Morph Ball item? No, it's actually a Core-X in disguise. This is different from the one revealed from Arachnus-X. Its barrier is much sturdier and can't be penetrated with any weapons. However, part of the barrier opens up like an eye to charge up a shot from the Beam it contains. You can damage the Core-X here if you shoot Missiles into the eye-like opening. It'll take four Missiles to break the barrier. Grab that X. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[CHARGE BEAM ACQUIRED]] ___________________________________________ |.._______________________________________..| |:/ \:| || ^ || || ^ || || | |__________ ___ || || | :N:S:R: :_____| |______ _ || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: : :___: *: : |O| || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ____¯¯¯: |___| | || || |O} :¯¯¯| : :S{ | || || >>¯: | :¯: |¯¯¯ || || ¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯: : || || ¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Now you've got the Charge Beam! Charge the Arm Cannon by holding the B button, then release once fully charged. This also actually changes your Beam shots as well. They're a bit wider, and actually split if part of it hits. Thus, they're essentially two normal shots per shot. Plus, a feature exclusive only to Metroid Fusion (for some reason), if you let off a Charge Shot at point-blank range, it does more damage than usual, as indicated by the quick slashes that form an X letter. Anyway, exit from the upper right. Shoot the ceiling at the middle and jump up. Now before exiting through the door, hang from the handles at the top and shoot a Missile at the left wall to destroy a Missile block. Shoot the Beam until there's no more blocks, then climb through the secret passage. In here, kill the Scisers as you get to the Missile Tank in here. [MISSILE TANKS: 06/48] Exit the room, then enter the door to reach the final major room we need to be. In here, head right, and down. You'll see the Geron, but it's blocked on this side. Head to the left side, get even with the Geron, and shoot the wall blocking the way to it. Now fire those Missiles at the Geron. Yay, all the atmospheric stabilizers are cleared! Exit this room from the bottom right. Shoot the gate, then get to a vertical room. Climb up and enter the right door for a Save Room. However, there's more. Part of the right wall is cracked. Shoot it open, then jump, do a mid-air Morph, and roll in. Inside, climb up with some Wall Jumping. Just somersault jump toward a wall, then press away from the wall and jump at the same time. You can't Wall Jump off the same wall like you can in Super Metroid, so the Wall Jump's usage is very limited. Anyway, grab the Missile Tank at the top, then go back to the Nav Room at the beginning of this Sector. [MISSILE TANKS: 07/48] ************************* Our mission here is accomplished! However, X have made their way to other sectors. Particularly, Sector 2, the tropical region. We need to head over there for further briefing. Take the elevator. As Samus listened to the briefing, her thoughts turned to Adam. He would end orders by saying, "Any objections, Lady?" It was his way of noting their trust together, since he knew she wouldn't disagree. She wonders if she can trust this computer as well... ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================== Tropical Bombing =============================== \________________/ ************************* The computer has identified our saboteur. It's an X mimicking Samus. He has named it Samus Aran-X, or SA-X for short. This SA-X is mimicking Samus at full capacity, meaning that, at the moment, it is invulnerable and is a major threat. It is using the Ice Beam as well, which due to Samus's cellular makeup, can prove fatal. This means...if we see the SA-X, we must run from it at all costs. In the meantime, HQ has provided Bomb data, and will be available at the usual Data Room. However, that Data Room is locked by Level 1 doors. Due to security reasons though, the terminal to unlock said doors is not shown on the map. We must find a way to unlock those doors before heading off to the Data Room. ************************* ___________________________ |.._______________________..| |:/ \:| || V ___ || || V | : | || || | |__________ |L: | || || | :N:S:R: :¯¯¯: | || || __¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: :¯¯¯¯¯ || || |D:¯¯¯{___| } || || ¯| : : } || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ As you exit the preliminary rooms, you'll get to your first actual room. Just go down, right, and back up here. You can't do much of anything in most of the doors you can head through, so just take the upper right door. Follow these Zero-infested rooms until you reach the security room to unlock Level 1 doors! Now return to the main room at the start and go through the lower left door. Follow the room to the next, then climb up to the top. Enter the Data Room to acquire Bombs! Just press B. If you stay the Morph Ball on a Bomb when it explodes, you'll be popped up a short distance in what is called a "Bomb Jump." Anyway, exit, and you'll hear a loud explosion, along with footsteps...is it the SA-X? Move right, but before dropping, Bomb the cracked blocks in the right wall (easy to spot) and head in for a Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 08/48] Head back out, and go down. Geez, the door is wrecked. Can't get through there anymore. Head left and plant a Bomb at the corner to reveal a new path! Yay, we're not totally stuck! Down here, you can reach a Save Room to the right, but we need to head left. In the next room, you can go up or down. Go up, wall jump to the top, and crouch. Shoot at the left wall to find an opening. Head in, and in here, Bomb along the floor until a metal pole rises. Get on that and use it to grab another Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 09/48] Exit the room and proceed downwards by Bombing your way through the junk in the way. Eventually you'll reach a large room covered in flora overgrowth. Bomb through the thin floor, take care of the Dessgeega (it shoots spikes whenever it's hit) and make your way into a secluded section in the lower left, filled with Zeros. Do some exterminating, then Bomb the right wall below the exit. Roll through to find another Missile Tank. Exit by shooting the ceiling above the Tank. Take the door that is partially closed off on the right. Once you get to the next junction, go down, through the floor. If you follow the rooms here and Bomb the obvious part of the right wall, you'll see a Gadora signaling a new boss...but we can't reach it from here. So head back to the junction. Take a right. You'll see a Save Room, but going past it, you'll find an Energy Tank! [ENERGY TANKS: 04/20] In here, shoot/Bomb away the floor to find a way to that Gadora we saw! Kill it, then head inside... ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Zazabi ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This weird creature appears tower-like, with a single eye. It crawls around, but mostly hops. Eventually it will open up at the bottom and try to land on Samus to swallow her up. If you do get swallowed, Bomb yourself out. Your objective is to fire Missiles up at its opening. The more damage you do, the more sections of Zazabi's body gets blown off. After the Zazabi creature gets killed, the Core-X will reveal itself. It takes about four Missiles to break its barrier. Remember that you can shoot Core-X's with the Beam to make other X spawn from it for health and ammo if you need it. Now head back. Save if you wish. (Notice that all the Zeros are not moving and are colored brown...they're molting into something else.) Head back, and you'll notice that there's quite a lot of rubble and a destroyed door...I think the SA-X has been here. Bomb the rubble to find a way down. You'll hear and see the SA-X below you. Damn...wait until the SA-X is out of the room. Once it has left, shoot the right floor and follow the door out. The SA-X is suddenly gone...and the Zeros are clearing molting into some sort of bug creature. Climb up and take the first left door you see. In this flooded room, jump up to the handlebars, grab on, and climb left to find a Missile Tank! [MISSILE TANKS: 11/48] Now head down into the water. Kill the Skulteras, Bomb the floor to find a metal pole, climb on it, and jump to the opening. Pull yourself in and open the door to find another Missile Tank. To get this, first Bomb the floor for a metal pole, stand on it, then Jumpball to the block to Bomb it. [MISSILE TANKS: 12/48] Exit these rooms and continue climbing, up to the very top. You'll get to a room that connects to the first room of Sector 2! Before exiting, you'll see two ledges with openings above them. The right ledge's opening can actually be Bombed through. Behind it is a Missile Tank! Grab it and go. [MISSILE TANKS: 13/48] Back in the first room, enter the blue door on the right. In here, Bomb along the right wall until you find an opening. Head in for yet another Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 14/48] Finally, enter the middle door on the left side. Once here, jump over the mutated Kago tower to get another Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 15/48] Now head to the Nav Room. ************************* Releasing the level 1 locks may have been a bad idea in retrospect...the SA-X, as well as other X, have invaded the water environment of Sector 4. Multiple irregularities are already showing up. We'll head over there and get briefed further once we arrive. As you go up the elevator, Samus thinks about the SA-X. It's an enemy with her strongest ability, but unlike her, it could be a mindless killing machine. She needs to stop it before it learns its potential and threatens the universe. ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================== Danger Submerged =============================== \________________/ ************************* The damage done here is much more than expected...possibly intentional. There's a possibility that the SA-X has a high level of intelligence. Anyway, at the moment, we need to figure out what happened to Serris here. It's a creature the Federation was working on, and it is quite dangerous. Great care has to be done to make sure Serris doesn't fall under the prey of the X Parasites. If that means terminating it, then so it will. On another note, due to the damage, stray wires are around and can electrify the water here. So as of now, it's not advised to go swimming. ************************* _______________________________ |..___________________________..| |:/ \:| || ___ || || | } | V || || _| {O|_ V || || | ____:S| ______| | || || <<:¯¯ ¯¯| |¯¯¯:R:S:N: | || || | :¯: :¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || } O |¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After the Sector 4 briefing, head out into the actual sector. Take the lower left door, through the small room, into a larger room. Climb up, Bomb the seperated wall, and climb to some hanging platforms. Jump across them a little, but look up. You'll see a higher platform. Jump up there, then jump up past the screen to the next room. In here, hit the Save Room, then Wall Jump just outside it. Bomb the block line you see and roll through. Bomb more blocks to reveal a ladder, but before climbing it, Bomb the left corner for a Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 16/48] Get on the middle of the ladder, Missile the left wall twice, and climb in. Drop down, jump across, and shoot the right wall up at the top to get to another Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 17/48] Drop down out of this secret area, and continue jumping across platforms to the door at the other side. _____________________________ |.._________________________..| |:/ \:| || ____ ______ || || | :S: | : :>> || || | |¯ \ _____| |___| || || | | _: :__ O: | || || : : |O} |S:¯¯¯ | || || | |\ ¯| |¯| :¯¯¯:<< || || | : :¯¯ ¯¯¯¯:___| || || ¯¯ | { || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ In here with a couple of water tanks, take the upper left door. [ENERGY TANKS: 05/20] Backtrack to the water tanks room and take the lower left door now. Shoot the rightmost block above you, climb in, Bomb the rest of the blocks, and climb left. Once you get to some ground, jump up to the next room. Climb the ladder until you get to the top...you'll climb up into a hidden ledge. Shoot away the Owtches in the way so you can get your Missile Tank. Exit and head back down to the room below. [MISSILE TANKS: 18/48] Bomb the left wall to continue. Next room, shoot the ceiling block straight above Samus, and climb up through the obstacles to reach a Save Room. Shoot the crack in the wall to continue right. Bomb the blocks, enter the door. In here is where we were supposed to go...but all we see is a big skeleton...I think Serris has been taken already. Head right to appear in the room where you got the Energy Tank. Climb up, get into the water to kill the Gadora, and head in. Climb up to the platforms above. ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Serris ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This giant eel has the power to swim and move at extremely high speeds. As such, when it is, it'll be encased in some sort of energy and will be unable to be damaged. When it isn't flying around at insane speeds, it can be damaged with Missiles to its head. I highly suggest staying on the platforms/ceiling handlebars for fighting Serris, as your movement is too slow underwater at the moment. There's not really much to this boss. Just shoot Missiles at Serris's head when you can until it's dead, revealing the Core-X. The Core-X's barrier can be taken down in five Missiles. Absorb the X. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[SPEED BOOSTER ACQUIRED]] __________________________________________________ |..______________________________________________..| |:/ \:| || _____ || || >>:____ | || || __ } | ^ || || | : _ _{*|_ ^ || || | | ______| __ :S|______| | || || _______| |__ ____: : |¯|¯¯:R:S:N: | || || | : : :___| :¯: :¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || |O |¯| | {O { O |¯¯¯¯¯ || || ¯¯¯¯¯ | :¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || ¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Samus now has the Speed Booster! With this, you can have her run at high speeds, encasing her in powerful energy that can kill most enemies and damage some others. To activate, just run in a direction without stopping for about three seconds. While running, you can store the energy by crouching. Once the energy is stored, press jump to do a Shinespark straight up. You can direct this Shinespark before it launches as well. Exit this room with the upper right door, now that you have acquired a new power. In this room, head right. Bomb the floor to find there's Speed Booster blocks. Bomb the wall that has a few Owtches inside, head left while killing them, then at the end, run back right to blast through the Speed Booster blocks. Now just make your way back to the left side of the Sector as if you were heading to Serris all over again. Once at the leftmost room, start running left without stopping, past the blue door. Eventually, you'll run into the Pump Control room. Use the console and the water levels will recede! Hooray! Go down, grab the Missile Tank in the small room, then get out of here. [MISSILE TANKS: 19/48] Head right so you're in the large room closest to the Pump Control. Go to the bottom of the room, get rid of any Scisers, and start running right so you'll Speed Boost through a wall into a secret room. Jump up into the water tank to get another Missile Tank, then run right from as far left as you can. [MISSILE TANKS: 20/48] You'll Speed Boost through into the next room, past some Scisers, and through a block which will let you get back to the Nav Room. ************************* As Samus has recovered another ability from the X-infected Serris, she may be able to face the SA-X...but that is quite a ways off. In the meantime, HQ has upgraded Missile data. However, the Data Room in Sector 2 is blocked by SA-X activity, and the one here in Sector 4 is blocked by a Level 4 security door, the highest level. As we don't want to unlock high security areas at this point, our last option is Sector 3. Head there. ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =================================== Hot Box =================================== \_______/ ************************* Thankfully, the X have not invaded this area yet. The Data Room here is sealed by a Level 2 security door. Once again, the Security Room is not marked and must be found first before you can gain access to the Data Room. This may allow X and the SA-X into the area, but we have no choice. As a precaution, you can't take superheated areas. Not to worry though, the path to the Data Room is free of such areas. So if you encounter one, turn back. The data ready is Super Missile. With this, the firepower of your Missiles will increase three-fold. ************************* _________________________________________ |.._____________________________________..| |:/ \:| || V || || V || || | |__________ _ || || | :N:S:R: }_____________| |_ || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| | :__ :_____: :D| || || _________: | |O} : | ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || |L: } : : }¯¯¯| | || || ¯¯¯¯¯|O|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯} : | || || ¯ ¯¯| | || || | | || || | | || || : : || || ¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After exiting the Save and Recharge Rooms, you'll get to the first major room. Head to the bottom of the room (requires a bit of zig-zagging). Once there, clear out a path from the right side of the room to the left door down here. Once done so, run into the left door at Speed Boost speed. Once the room transition is finished, do a running Speed Boost jump towards the wall to break through it. Once here, Bomb the floor just to the left of the rightmost hump to find a secret room with a Missile Tank hidden in the ceiling! [MISSILE TANKS: 21/48] Jump back out, wait for the floor to reform, then start a Speed Boost from the right side. Do a running jump toward the wall above the green door to blast through it. Roll through the rest of the way to get into the Security Room. Unlock the level 2 doors and get out of here. You'll notice now that you'll be encountering X and the creatures they mimick. You'll see Sidehoppers and Geraclaws. Kill them, then Speed Boost back right, making the jump out of here. Back in the "first" room, take the lower right door this time. Climb up, ignore the Fune, get under it to find an opening so you can get on the other side of the gate. Open it, then head left so you're against the door. Start a Speed Boost run as you head right. You'll break through the floor of the next room. Quickly go into Morph Ball to dodge the Geraclaws and find the drop-through point. Enter the door. In this room, just climb up. Careful of more Funes. You can kill them with enough Missiles. At the top, head through the left door, since the right one is wrecked beyond use. In this room, Bomb the left wall to find two openings. Take the upper one. Grab the Missile Tank, [MISSILE TANKS: 22/48] Bomb the block above, head through while Bombing, jumping, and heading right, and you'll be at the other side of a blue Geron that you would've encountered if you kept going up in that room where you first saw Funes. These Gerons are invulnerable so head right. Kill the Sidehoppers and Novas, enter the next door. Just head right from here to the Data Room, to get the Super Missile upgrade. Head down it and enter the door behind the wreckage to find a Save Room and Recharge Room, as well as a room with a Missile Tank guarded by Sidehoppers and a blue Geron. Have them all taste your new power, and grab the Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 23/48] Head back, up out of these rooms, and then left. The door is destroyed...and there's some rumbling above that is making some rubble fall from the ceiling. Follow it back right, close to where the Data Room is... ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: B.O.X. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Woah! A robot broke out of the Data Room! Now it's inaccessible...but that's not important right now, it's the boss! Quickly jump up to the handlebars. B.O.X. uses fire bombs and its own body to attack. The fire bombs basically shoot out tall, undulating fire towers when they explode, so you'll have to either stay above the bombs or climb past the fire towers at the right times to avoid getting hit. B.O.X.'s weak point is in its center, so shoot your Missiles down to its center to weaken its structure and break off parts of it, revealing a brain inside...I'm sure that isn't Mother Brain. Kill all the enemies here, then from the left, start running back right for a Speed Boost. Store the energy, then from the left edge of the hole you just jumped up from, Shinespark diagonally up and left. (Press jump, then hold up-left) You'll blast through the ceiling and a wall above that contains a Missile Tank. Get back down and continue left through the door, in Speed Boost. [MISSILE TANKS: 24/48] After the room transition, store the energy and Shinespark left. In the new room, Bomb yourself down on the lower left corner and you'll get to an Energy Tank. [ENERGY TANKS: 06/20] After dropping down into a room with Sidehoppers, head left, Jumpball towards the three blocks, plant a Bomb to get rid of them, and jump in. Make your way back to the Nav Room. ************************* Since we encountered a rogue Security Robot, we're free to destroy it if we meet it again. Anyway, now that Level 2 security is unlocked, Sectors 5 and 6 are now available. As such, they are most likely already infiltrated by X. Sector 5 is a sub-zero area, and is not advised to go in yet, due to Samus's new weakness to cold due to the Metroid vaccine. However, HQ is developing data that adjusts Samus's suit for extreme temperatures. Considering all Data Rooms we've used so far have been destroyed by X activity, our only option at the moment is using the Data Room in Sector 6, the night habitat. After going up the elevator, an unknown transmission occurs. HQ: "Does Samus suspect anything?" "Adam": "No, I do not think so." HQ: "Good. Monitor her closely." "Adam": "Affirmative. We need to make way to the Data Room here. There's a problem though...X from Sector 5 have made their way here. The cold has altered their physical properties. If you let Samus absorb one, she'll take damage. This seems deliberate, so be watchful and don't let those blue X touch you. You can use your Beam to stun them. Once the Varia Suit modification is downloaded though, you'll be safe from these X and from extreme environmental temperatures. ************************* ______________________________________ |..__________________________________..| |:/ \:| || V || || V || || | |_____________________ || || | :N:S:R: _: :____: { || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯} |O} {O| | : || || ¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ : {___ || || |_: | || || ______| |__ || || ___| : : || || |O: |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || |_:¯¯¯{¯| || || <<:¯¯¯: | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Exit the preliminary rooms and you'll get to a room filled with Menus. Get past them (the thin floor can be Bombed to find a secret area, but it has no purpose right now) and into the next room. Go down so you'll see a blue Geron. Look at the left wall. Notice how part of the wall is rocky and there's a break in the middle of the rocky parts? Bomb that part of the wall and head in to get a Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 25/48] Exit, kill the Geron, then get to the other side of this dark room. There's a similar rocky wall with a break in it. Bomb the break and head in. In here, place Bombs along the entirety of the wall to find three tunnels--the top one is the one you need. Bomb to get down into the Energy Tank. [ENERGY TANKS: 07/20] Exit and continue on the normal way. You'll spot a blue X. These come after Samus actively to get absorbed, and they hurt, so shoot them with the Beam to stun them and move by. Next room, take the door all the way at the bottom. Next room, head right until you get to blocks. Don't shoot the bottom one, a blue X is hiding there. Climb down a bit until you see a thin wall. Shoot it out, then jump past it. Take the lower left door quickly and don't stop running, as the next room will have some blue X you need to pass under and a piece of rock you need to Speed Boost through. Once past that, you can head right for a Save Room if you wish, but go left if you want to continue. The very next room has...an Energy Tank! Well how about that. Grab it, then Bomb close to it to find a way down. Enter the door. [ENERGY TANKS: 08/20] At this next room, you'll spot an enclosed tunnel below and what seems to be a dead-end. Bomb the right side to find a way into the tunnel. Roll back left and...uh-oh. SA-X just entered the room. It'll walk to the wall we encountered, plant a Power Bomb to get rid of it, and go down to exit through the next door. Don't try to follow it until you can't hear its footsteps anymore, it might notice you, otherwise. Once it's gone, follow it's path out. ___________________________ |.._______________________..| |:/ \:| || ____ ___ || || |S: :<< __| | || || ¯} :¯¯¯:D: :>> || || _ / ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| | || || |O} ¯¯¯ || || ¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Next room here, kill the enemies then shoot the wall to reveal a path out. I suppose this would be your "escape route" if you got spotted by SA-X back there, judging by how this room's designed. Either way, in the next room, you can either save or go down by shooting blocks. Be careful and vigilant, blue X are hiding in some of the blocks. Before entering the door, get to the bottom left corner and Bomb away the raised part of the floor, revealing a hole you can roll through. In this room, kill the Zozoros and jump up to the opening in the corner, pull yourself in, and Bomb a couple of the blocks to find a Missile Tank. Head back out, enter the door. [MISSILE TANKS: 26/48] Take out the Menus, then jump over the rock to find a Gadora. What's one doing here? Oh well, kill it then enter the Data Room. Uh...what? A...Core-X? It damaged the Data Room! Oh crap. Follow it! ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Varia Core-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The Core-X has mutated and expanded to a massive size! Oddly enough, Missiles cannot do anything to it. The Charge Beam will have to do. Obviously, you must damage the center part, but you can permanently destroy the smaller orbs surrounding it. After enough Charge Shots, the Core-X reverts back to normal. Then, it takes about six Missiles to break its barrier. Grab the X left behind. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[VARIA SUIT ACQUIRED]] _______________________________________ |..___________________________________..| |:/ \:| || ^ || || ^ || || | |____________________ || || | :N:S:R: | : : : {_______ || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯} |¯} {¯¯¯| : : {O| || || ¯ ¯¯¯ : {¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || | :¯¯¯| || || ¯| |___ || || :_____: | || || _|O: : | || || |O} | |¯ || || ¯| | |_ || || >>: : :S| || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ...Alright, so that was odd. Either way, you have the Varia Suit. Now Samus will not take damage from extreme heat or extreme cold. She can also absorb the blue X safely now...and with a great health boost! Exit to the right, and keep going right to find a Save Room, which you might or might not need. Climb up and notice all the blue X thinking they can kill you...they just sign their own death wish by flying into you. Anyway, at the top, head left. Grab the Missile Tank here, [MISSILE TANKS: 27/48] then drop down, holding left. You'll grab a stray ledge. Pull yourself in, kill the Zozoros, then shoot the ceiling to find another Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 28/48] Now head out, and climb back up where the blue X's were. You'll probably notice they're flying away from you now. Take the right door at the top. Climb up, kill or avoid the Zozoros and Bull, and enter the door at the top. Kill the Owtch, then climb through here to end up back in a familiar place. Exit through the top left. Climb this next room until you encounter another door to the right. Take it. Follow the obstacles and enter the next room to find a Missile Ta--wait, huh? Fake!? Oh, it's a Mimic pretending to be a Missile Tank. Cheeky thing. Well, don't be fooled, there actually is a Missile Tank here. Bomb the wall to find a secret area that has the REAL Tank inside. [MISSILE TANKS: 29/48] Now just make your way to the Nav Room. ************************* Surprisingly, that Core-X had somehow downloaded the Varia Suit data, despite not being able to possess mechanical things...they must be able to process data organically. At any rate, the Varia Suit is ours. As such, we can't be frozen by the SA-X. We're still much too weak to face it however, so we still need to be watchful and careful. Something like the Plasma Beam may just be able to be powerful enough to pierce the SA-X's armor and cause damage...but that is entirely far off. HQ is working on it, but it will take some time. There's also a possibility we may get it back by absorbing a Core-X like we did with the Charge Beam. For Ice Beam functionality, it's doubted that it'll work. Samus's new genetic makeup may reject it. As such, HQ has developed an alternative: Ice Missiles. They are available in Sector 5, the frigid region. So let's head over there! ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================ Double Freeze Impact ============================= \____________________/ ************************* We need to access the Data Room of this Sector to get the Ice Missiles, but it is blocked by Level 3 security. So how to get out? Well, there's a hidden passage in that alcove in the middle. Look at the right wall of that alcove closely. You'll notice that part of it looks a bit different... get on the ladder and Missile the wall at that location twice to reveal a path. Jump in, and enter the door. Get through the next room, past the Choots. It's linear, just get to the other end and enter the door. In the next icy room, get past the Wavers and make your way to the bottom of this room. At one point, you'll have to Speed Boost down some blocks. Just use the room past the door on the same level to help you with it. Take the right door at the bottom. Next room, Bomb to release the enemies and continue. Next room, drop. You'll see a door, but don't go down it. Bomb the floor to go down. Head left for a Save Room. The next few rooms are empty when it comes to threats, so just head left until you find the Security Room we need! Unlock level 3 doors and exit to the left. Climb up this room while killing or avoiding Zeelas. At the top, enter the door to find a Save Room! Head right and you'll end up back in the room near the Data Room. Head there and get your Ice Missile data. Now whenever you hit an enemy with these, if they aren't killed, they're frozen in place. Frozen enemies can be used as temporary platforms. Enter the next room, then Bomb the floor to drop. In here, you'll find Rippers. Freeze the top one, then use it as a platform to the door. Enter. Oh! There's an Energy Ta--...another Mimic!? Gah. Well, there still is the real Energy Tank, just Bomb around the raised ground to find it. Exit. [ENERGY TANKS: 09/20] Drop to the bottom and enter the door. In here, let the X possess the Kago Hive to transform it, then freeze it. Use it as a platform to reach the room above. Enter the door to the left leading to rooms you haven't been in. In this room, before moving on, go to the left, kill the Zeela, then kill it again, then wait for the X to possess the Kago Hive. Freeze it, then start a Speed Boost out the left door so you can exit this way. Make your way back to the Nav Room, but stop at the first large room we came to here. A shadowy figure will rapidly fly past...what the hell was that? Anyway, get to the left side. Before entering any doors, freeze the Choots when they're up in the air and use them as platforms to climb to the top, where a door is. There's a Missile Tank here! [MISSILE TANKS: 30/48] Grab it then leave, dropping down to the bottom. Enter the yellow door. Kill the Geruta on the ceiling, then go into Morph Ball mode. Jumpball towards the right corner in the ceiling and drop a Bomb at the peak of the jump. You should reveal a Missile Tank. Grab it, then exit to the left. [MISSILE TANKS: 31/48] What the...? There's an alarm going on...make your way to the Nav Room quickly! ************************* Emergency in Sector 3. The area could melt down soon. The Main Boiler's cooling unit is malfunctioning, and if left unfixed, it could trigger the auto-destruct explosives, destroying the entire research station. Climb across the handlebars here while watching for fire spouts from the lava. Don't want to get hit and get knocked into the lava. Enter the door at the end. Here, freeze a Namihe as it stretches out so you can reach the ladder, climb up, kill the upper Namihe with three Missiles (sadly the Ice Missile upgrade kinda nerfed your power) and enter the door. Pass this next room filled with Novas. ________________________ |..____________________..| |:/ \:| || ___ || || _______ | | || || | : |_| |_ || || | | : :___: | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ >>: | || || ¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Here in the next room, freeze a Namihe for a platform so you can get up this room. Enter the door. In here, don't shoot the platforms, they can get destroyed. Climb them, kill the Nova and the Namihe, then climb up. Go right, kill the Namihe, climb. Head left, jump over the thin part of the ground as it is a fall-through part, then enter the door at the other side. In here, freeze the Nova so you can get across: the platform it's on is fall-through. Next room is the Main Boiler room, but the control room is next-door. Climb up past the Sidehoppers, jumping over the broken parts of the catwalks as they are fall-through. Kill the Gadora and head inside. ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Wide Core-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Head over to the computer...what? A human researcher? Well, he's sabotaging this place, so you have no choice--shoot him! He turns...then he transforms! So it was a Core-X all along. This one is similar to the Core-X you fought to get the Charge Beam: it's normally impenetrable except for its beam eye that it occasionally opens. Fire Missiles there when it's open. Grab the X from it once the barrier is destroyed, then quickly fix the problem at the computer. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[WIDE BEAM ACQUIRED]] ________________________________________ |..____________________________________..| |:/ \:| || __ || || V <<: | || || V ___ | | || || _______ | | : | || || | : |_| |_ | | || || | | : :___: | | | _______ || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| : : | | |_| : O| || || | :¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: :O{ : O | || || ¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| { || || ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The power of your Arm Cannon shots has increased, and the shots fire in a wide radius similar to the Spazer Beam, hence the name. Anyway, phew, the crisis is averted. Start backtracking the way you came until you're back in that tall vertical room. See the green door across from you? Enter that. In here, kill the Owtches, then Bomb along the top of the platform to find a hidden Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 32/48] Now Bomb the lower right part of the wall to find a hidden passage. In here, don't go into the door. Instead, see the Nova? Don't kill it. Wait until it's lined up with the opening above, freeze it, then use it as an extra boost to allow you up to the other door. Enter. In the next room, drop to the bottom. Jump to the platform. The next few platforms crumble when you stand on them, but there are Novas as well, so freeze them to use them as platforms. After crossing them, jump up into the alcove to get an Energy Tank! [ENERGY TANKS: 10/20] Follow the path up here to get another Missile Tank. Along the way though, stop at the large room just before the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms. Take the middle left door here. Climb across this hot room while avoiding the fire streams from the lava. Be watchful of any Sidehoppers that may be hanging on your level as well. Enter the door at the end and grab the Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 34/48] Now head to the Nav Room. ************************* The X mimicked a crew member...it all makes sense now. The X can absorb the memories and knowledge of their prey. Very impressive, if a bit strange. This could have destroyed all the X in the station, along with the SA-X, unusual for a self-preserving species...unless Samus is an even greater threat to X elsewhere... Anyway, life-signs have been discovered on the Habitation Deck of the Main Deck. Survivors? Possibly, considering the human the X mimicked was alive until recently. Power has just been restored to the Main Elevator, so we can finally access the Main Deck. Let's move. ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================= Life-signs? ================================= \___________/ _______________________________ |..___________________________..| |:/ \:| || _________ || || | { : | || || | | : |___ || || | } O : : :S| || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯^¯¯ || || ^___ || || _____________|_: : || || |O} : | : : {_{ : || || ¯¯^¯¯¯¯¯¯: | :_| | || || ^ ¯: :N: : || || ________^___ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || : : : : : || || | | | |¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || V ^ || || V ^ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Once you make your way up the Main Elevator, you'll notice the wreckage the SA-X left at the beginning of the game. Before heading right, head left, through the giant hole in the wall. There's a Missile Tank here. You need to blast through the dividing wall with the Speed Booster, so build up a run so you can snag it. [MISSILE TANKS: 35/48] Now it should be a bit self-explanatory on how to get to the Habitation Deck. Make your way right a bit until you are at a vertical room with green doors at the top. Take the left one, as the other one is blocked by an oversized Geron that can't be destroyed. Up the elevator you go! Once up the elevator, head left. The right door is a Save Room. In this vertical room, wait for some X to spawn into Funes/Namihes, and make them extend so you can freeze them and use them as platforms. Enter the topmost door. In the window, you'll see a vast simulated environment past the observatory windows, along with some familiar faces if you've played Super Metroid: it's the Etecoons and Dachora! Shoot the square-marked part of the floor that's closer to the gate and drop down. Shoot away the wall on the left, then head right, shoot open the gate, then Speed Boost run left so you'll blast through the left-most square-marked floor piece. Head right and open the gates to find a Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 36/48] Now head to the left side. See that something is sticking out of the wall? That's actually a wall panel, so you can hop in and go through to access a secret area of this room. Climb up while freezing Funes to help you up to the top. Here, you'll be at the other side of that top gate, where the control computer is. Use the terminal and you'll open the door to the environmental habitation, freeing the Etecoons and Dachora...er, make that Dachoras. The Dachora has a kid! The Dachora bids you farewell in her own special way, then the animals run off. Well, there were no human life-signs, so head back down the elevator and to a Nav Room to tell the news. ************************* As you go down the elevator, Samus recalls the Etecoons and Dachora, friendly creatures she met on Zebes. Odd to meet them again. They've helped her unleash abilities she didn't know she had...but where have they ran off to? Once at a Nav Room... The survivors were not human...most unfortunate. The deaths of all crew members is now confirmed. X most likely only infected the humans for knowledge, as the form is too weak for battle. Most likely the other ones were used as food. X are evolving and growing stronger. Some even now are appearing that resist our current weaponry. As such, HQ has developed Power Bomb data. Choice of Data Rooms is limited to the one in Sector 5, so it's time to return. ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================== Destructive Data =============================== \________________/ _____________________________________ |.._________________________________..| |:/ \:| || V || || V ______ || || | |_______ : | || || | :N:S:R: | | | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| {_| |____ || || : :*: : :____ || || _ / ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: : :D:>> || || |O: : }¯¯¯¯ || || ¯¯ | { || || : : || || ¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You'll be stopped at the Nav Room once you enter Sector 5, but the computer just tells you that you've been to the Data Room before and you know where to go. Necessary but pointless. Whatever. Exit the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms, then in the next room, drop to the bottom. Enter the left door. Kill the Zeelas here, then jump up on the left side below the square containing the Missile Tank to jump right in it. [MISSILE TANKS: 37/48] After getting that, there's nothing else of interest, so just head straight to the Data Room and get your Power Bombs. To use, go into Morph Ball, hold R, and press B to use one from your reserves, which can be extended through Power Bomb Tanks. Head right from the Data Room, Bomb the floor, drop to the bottom, then head left. In here, place a Power Bomb and go down. Enter the door. In here, head left and you'll hear the SA-X open the door you just entered... crap, hide quickly! Once you get behind the wall, Bomb the wall...you'll find you need to use a Power Bomb to get out of here...wait until the SA-X is pretty far away (it'll never leave the room, so don't bother waiting), plant the Power Bomb, and GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE ONCE IT EXPLODES. Once you're out, plant another Power Bomb to reveal a ladder and get access to your first Power Bomb Tank. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 01/32] Climb up, then plant another Power Bomb to reveal a path above the ceiling. Climb up, then use the Rippers as platforms by freezing them. Once at the top, enter the door to grab another Power Bomb Tank! [POWER BOMB TANKS: 02/32] Exit, drop, and enter the left door, making your way back to the large icy room close to the Data Room. _______________________________ |..___________________________..| |:/ \:| || V || || V ______ || || | |_______ : | || || | :N:S:R: | | | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| {_| |____ || || : :*:_____: : || || ¯¯¯¯|O : : || || ¯¯¯¯¯: } || || | { || || : : || || ¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Notice the rather large Geron around the left side of that icy room? Well, these are vulnerable to Power Bombs. So use one, then get past where it was. Enter the door. In this room, there is a divider seperating the bottom and top parts of this room, with Rippers in the way. You need to traverse the top of the divider so you can get the Power Bomb Tank at the end, but the divider is also full of fall-through blocks. How to get across? Well, freeze the Rippers and use them as platforms so you can maneuver the Morph Ball past the top part, eventually reaching that Tank you so desire. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 03/32] Make your way back to the Nav Room now. ************************* We need to return to our ship. "Adam" has important information to share with us. You'll end up in the freezer containing Ridley's corpse...suddenly the eyes glow red for a second, then the corpse crumbles, revealing a large X. It then flies away...I have a feeling we'll be meeting a Ridley mimic later on. Follow the path down into the next room. Once you fall, plant a Power Bomb to reveal a small tunnel to the left. Follow this to the end, and plant Bombs around there to reveal more. Stand up and shoot above to find a Power Bomb Tank! [POWER BOMB TANKS: 04/32] Now just head right past the Geemers and the Genesis creatures. In the next room, use a Power Bomb to reveal a way out of here, as well as a Missile Tank. Grab it then head to your ship. [MISSILE TANKS: 38/48] ************************* The main silo in the Reactor Core is offline, which is why elevators and main systems are offline. If we can head to the Reactor Core, we may be able to turn on the auxiliary power system, allowing use of some systems like Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms. We may also figure out what caused the main silo to go offline. By the way, we were asked to come here because something curious happened... some strange creatures boarded our ship. They're the Etecoons and Dachoras. After Samus assures that they're harmless, the computer ends up keeping them in the ship, as their presence may have some significance... ************************* ____________________________ |..________________________..| |:/ \:| || __ || || : | V || || _| | V || || | : |_______ || || | } : : | || || | |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || | :¯¯¯|___________ || || <<¯: : O: | || || ¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| | || || | |_______|O | || || | :_:N:A: : | || || | :S|¯¯¯| | | || || ¯¯¯¯¯ | |¯¯¯ || || ¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ So now we have to head to the Reactor Silo. How? Well, head left. Once you can go up, don't. Instead, plant a Power Bomb to blow apart part of the left wall. Head in. We're now in the area that the Level 4 door was blocking access to. Go down from here, Bomb the floor on the right, then head through the open door to already arrive at the Reactor Core. There's...a lot of vegetation choking the place. I think we know why the main silo is offline now...but where did this vegetation come from? Drop to the bottom. The lowest door down here leads to a Save Room, but as the main silo is offline, we can't use it. The next door up on the right side leads to a gate that we can't open on this side. The only choice is to climb up to the topmost open door on the right side. Head through this hall, killing Zebesians, and grab the Energy Tank in plain sight. [ENERGY TANKS: 11/20] In the next room, run while shooting the floor to go down. Kill the Zebesian, shoot the floor on the left side to drop. Drop on the right side again. From here, shoot the left wall, and part of your Wide Beam shots will hit the lower part of the wall. Roll through to get the Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 39/48] Keep going down. Eventually you'll reach the Gadora. Kill it and head on through to the next room... ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Yakuza ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This giant spider boss first attacks by breathing fire on you, then crawls down. If it happens to crawl right above Samus, it will grab her, do constant damage for about three seconds, then ram her down to the ground for even more damage. Ouch. Object to this boss is to avoid it until it opens its mouth to breathe more fireballs. Missile its mouth. The best places to hide until then is as a Morph Ball in the very corners of the room. Eventually, after enough damage, Yakuza will explode, leaving only its head as it spins and "jumps" around in the air with its mouth open. It'll also occasionally try to hit you as well as spit out parts of its body somehow. Keep landing charge shots/Missiles at its mouth until it's finally dead, revealing the Core-X. It takes six Missiles to break its barrier. Absorb the X. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[SPACE JUMP ACQUIRED]] Yay! With the Space Jump, Samus can "fly" by jumping infinitely in the air. To do so requires timing. First, do a spinning jump (jump while moving), then once you start descending for a split second, jump again to go higher. You can keep doing this so long as you keep getting the timing right. If you get the timing wrong, you won't Space Jump and can't do so until you land. To get out of here, you have to Space Jump, so get the timing good and get out of here. Use the terminal to activate the auxiliary systems. Enter the Nav Room right next door. ************************* Save Rooms, Recharge Rooms, and Navigation Rooms are back online and fully functional now, but doors and elevators are still unable to work. We need to get rid of what's choking the main silo in order to get the power back. The source of the problem seems to be the vegetation we saw, though the origin of that vegetation is currently unknown. ************************* Head out back to the Reactor Core. A vast amount of Ki-Hunters are around now, and they HURT, so be careful. Since you went through a tough boss, I'd suggest using the Save Room first. Once that's done, climb up the left side, using the Space Jump occasionally. Eventually you'll get to an opening leading off to the left. Clear away the vegetation and head inside. You'll make your way to Sector 2... ______________________________ |..__________________________..| |:/ \:| || ___ || || : : _____ || || | :_| : | || || _____| | _ |___:>> || || | :S: :_______: __ || || | O|¯| |_________| << || || | |_| |_: : } : | || || : : : : |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || ¯¯¯¯: :¯¯¯¯¯ || || ¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Ah, there's a lot of overgrowth here...we must be close. But wait...there's footsteps...oh great, SA-X is here, of all places. Well um...it won't leave this room, so we have to drop in and make a run for it. Freeze it in the process to slow it down! Next room, Power Bomb, hide behind the vegetation, and when it jumps over, quickly freeze it and MOVE! Next room, just shoot up while moving to quickly open the gates, then enter the open door at the end. Hop over the wall and hide there until the SA-X leaves. Phew...exit the room once the coast is clear (i.e.: when the SA-X chase music stops playing). Now, use a Power Bomb to clear a new path forward. Missile the block that was revealed, then head down to get to the next room. Here, Space Jump up, but not all the way, since you can't get to the top. Instead, place a Power Bomb to reveal a way to the door on the other side. Drop and enter. Head left again. In this large room, Space Jump up the left side. Eventually you'll get to a thinner part of the wall with some rooms behind it. Shoot away the walls, kill the Puyos, grab the Power Bomb Tank inside, then Space Jump up to the top. Enter the door there for a Save Room. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 05/32] Exit right, and enter the door directly across from you. In here, Power Bomb and Space Jump up the opening in the ceiling. Shoot through the vegetation (kill the trapped Ki-Hunters if you need health/ammo) and eventually you'll reach another Gadora. Kill it and head through. ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Nettori ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You'll drop to a room which is the source of all the vegetation! What appears to be a Chozo Statue covered in vegetation is on the right side, spore spawners are spitting spores from above, and Samus Eaters are below. This doesn't leave for a very safe battle...but what you must do is Missile the statue on the right while avoiding/shooting the spores. Eventually, after enough damage, the front of Nettori will blow apart and fire plasma shots. You have to dodge these while keeping on hitting Nettori with Missiles. Eventually, it gets destroyed, leaving the Core-X to deal with. Move yourself to the right so you'll have better ground. This is one of those eyed Core-X's, so be cautious. Grab the X after you're finished with it. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[PLASMA BEAM ACQUIRED]] _____________________________________ |.._________________________________..| |:/ \:| || ^ || || ^ || || | |__________ || || | :N:S:R: : || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: :_________ || || | } : :_:O| || || :___}¯¯¯| :R|¯ __ || || | :_____| |¯ >>: | || || _| | :S: : ¯ ¯¯¯¯: | || || |O: | *|¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || | | | | | | || || |O| : : : : || || ¯: |¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ || || | : || || : : || || ¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Now the power of your Beam is increased, and it can also pierce through enemies! Awesome. Head right, and you'll find a room with conveniently-placed Ki-Hunters...as if it's a targeting range to test out your awesome new Beam. Once you've had your fun, exit from the bottom, and you'll notice that the vegetation is already dieing...awesome! It appears that doors can now be opened. I guess the main silo is back online. Head back to the metal room where you got the Power Bomb Tank, then exit off the left side. Climb up, enter the first door you see on the left side. Here, you'll see a Power Bomb Tank! Freeze Rippers in such a way so that you can get under the wall and grab the Tank. I suggest first freezing a Ripper so that it's below the wall, a bit left; then freezing another one very close to it on its right. You'll then fall. Shoot down as you do it to find another Power Bomb Tank. Exit this room. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 07/32] Head back to the large metal room, exit off the right side on the top. After exiting the Save Room, Space Jump up some more. Once you get to some ground with a couple of Reos flying about, get on the right side and roll through a hidden passage to find a Recharge Room. Keep going up otherwise, enter the right door. Kill the Owtches and jump up against the right wall until you catch onto something. Pull yourself in to find a hidden room with an Energy Tank. [ENERGY TANKS: 12/20] Exit and take the left door. Head back to the Nav Room. ************************* "Adam" seems shocked that we have restored Plasma Beam functionality. Even though we have a penetrating weapon to go against the SA-X, he still advises to not fight it, as it may still not be enough. Besides, we still lack a few abilities crucial to survival. We need to head over to Sector 5 now! ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================== A Nightmare Curse ============================== \_________________/ ************************* The damage has gotten worse. This seems to have been caused by a creature kept here by the researchers...named Nightmare. It's a bio-mechanical organism created for military applications. This place has been wrecked so much...before heading to the other side, Space Jump to the top from the left side. Here, some walls have been destroyed, leaving a place to charge a Speed Boost...shoot open the door to the left here, kill the Choots, then run left to build a Speed Boost. Store it just before the gap, then Shinespark through the door. You'll blast through a wall in the next room, revealing a Power Bomb Tank. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 08/32] Head towards the Data Room next. You'll notice that the door above the Data Room has been destroyed. Enter through the gaping hole. In this hall, shoot away the ceiling and head up. Ignore the door for now and place a Power Bomb. This will open up part of the ceiling on the right side, so Space Jump up there and kill the Zebesians. Shoot the left part of the ceiling and go up, kill the Zebesian, then shoot the right part of the ceiling to go up more. Once up here, shoot the gate open. Now shoot the left part of the ceiling, Space Jump up, and shoot open the other gate. Now in this area, Bomb the floors to find a secret passage. This leads to...a Power Bomb Tank! [POWER BOMB TANKS: 09/32] Now, enter the door I told you to ignore. This is a passage between Sector 5 and Sector 3. However, we cannot actually enter Sector 3 yet. Before the door to Sector 3 though (still out in space), use a Power Bomb to reveal a Power Bomb Tank, as well as destroy a block leading to it. Grab it, then get back to Sector 5. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 10/32] Head down and right, across the destroyed Data Room. Head through here, killing Zeelas and Gerutas (the Gerutas are only vulnerable to Missiles), entering the hole at the end (which was a door.) _______________________________ |..___________________________..| |:/ \:| || __ __________ || || >>{ |___ _:O} :S| :O|_ || || | : |O:¯ :¯__| | || || ¯¯¯| |¯: :¯<<: | || || } | :¯¯¯| ¯¯¯¯ || || | :¯ : || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Drop down from here into the water. Be careful when killing Skulteras when a Zebesian is nearby, as the X from the Skulteras can merge with the Zebesians to make a swimming Zebesian. Enter the door down here. In here, clear out the enemies. When you see a door, don't go through it. Go up and left to that other door instead. Next room, jump out of the water and into the next room. In here, kill the Gerutas then shoot away the ceiling. Space Jump up here and enter the destroyed door. The next room should be filled with Zeelas. Use a Power Bomb to get rid of them and to also reveal another Power Bomb Tank. Grab it and leave. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 11/32] Now head to the right side up here. You'll have a choice between a destroyed door, and a regular door above. The regular door leads to a Save Room, which is recommended, but there's something else more important. Once you're even with the Save Room, use a Power Bomb to reveal a passage. If you take the passage, you'll find a door to a Recharge Room. There's also a hidden Power Bomb Tank though. Around the left side of the tunnel, spam Jumpball until you can actually jump. (The texture of the tiles gives a subtle clue) Once up in the tiny upper part of the tunnel, head left, then place a Bomb to reveal another Power Bomb Tank. Grab it, then head through that destroyed door below the Save Room. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 12/32] Up ahead, kill more Zeelas, then Space Jump up when you can to find a Gadora. Kill it then head in. Once in this room, don't move. Place a Power Bomb to reveal all the fall-through blocks, then get above the Energy Tank so you can collect it before falling down to the room below, where you'll find... [ENERGY TANKS: 13/20] ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Nightmare ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Nightmare will appear from the floor. This floating, gravity-manipulating creature is invulnerable pretty much everywhere except the spinning machine on its tail. Missile it until it starts changing gravity, making things heavier. Missiles won't work, so use charged shots. To get a good shot, just jump to make Nightmare float a bit higher. Once the machine is destroyed, it can no longer manipulate gravity...and its mask breaks away to reveal its grotesque face. Nightmare is now vulnerable at the face with Missiles. It'll attack by slowly floating towards the left, then when its face can't be hit, it flies around in an attempt to hit Samus, before repeating its process. You can stop it from flying around if you hit it a few times at its face successfully. The more it's hit, the more its face droops. All throughout this fight, Nightmare will be firing lasers from its arms, so be watchful of that. After Nightmare's taken enough damage, it'll turn into a Core-X. Six Missiles will take it down. Absorb that X! _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: [[GRAVITY SUIT ACQUIRED]] __________________________ |..______________________..| |:/ \:| || _____ || || __ :*} : || || : |_:¯ :____ || || _| | : :___:<< || || |O} | :¯¯¯|O_ |_ || || ¯| :¯ : { >> || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Yay! With the Gravity Suit, you'll take even less damage than usual, will be impervious to lava damage, and movement isn't impaired in water or lava. Let the door open here, then start at the very right side of this room. Start running left at a Speed Boost so you can blast through the barrier in the next room. Make your way back into the water in this secret area. Remember that door we didn't enter? That's technically where we want to go next, but let's get something else before we go. From that door I mentioned, head left to the first underwater room. In here, Space Jump up. Notice the ledge on the right wall? Well, there's a Missile block on the left wall at the same level the ledge is. So fire a Missile just right to hit said block, and climb in there. In here, you'll find an Energy Tank! But, there's fall-through blocks scattered. I'd advise not to use a Power Bomb though, because doing so makes a pipe extend that blocks access to the Energy Tank. So...do some trial and error. Eventually you'll get ahold of the Tank. [ENERGY TANKS: 14/20] Now exit, and head back right, to the room with the door we didn't go through. Kill all the enemies, then open the door. Don't enter it yet though, we want to have a Speed Boost going in. Once done, and right after the room transition, look for the two thin walls. Run through them, then store the energy. Get between them and Shinespark up to find a Power Bomb Tank! Grab it, then start another Shinespark as you head toward Sector 4. The door straight across is a Save Room if you need it. Down below is another door. If you follow that, you'll eventually get to a Missile Tank. Grab it and leave the room. [MISSILE TANKS: 40/48] Right across from the door you got the Tank, part of the left wall has a hidden ledge. Grab it, pull yourself in, and grab a Power Bomb Tank. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 14/32] Now get to the bottom and take the left door. In here, head left until you get to a yellow pipe-line. Use a Power Bomb here to break open part of it and reveal Missile blocks. Missile those blocks and get on top of the pipe. Head to the right and jump up to a new area. Kill the Evirs, then shoot the terrain around the right side. Climb in to find a Power Bomb Tank! [POWER BOMB TANKS: 15/32] Climb back out, then go left past the grey block by shooting it. After the room transition, head to the left and Bomb the grey blocks on the floor. Drop down. Here, Bomb the third-from-left grey block and go down. Bomb and go down again. Jump a little and go through a hidden Morph Ball tunnel to where the large Skultera is. Bomb to get down, then make your way to the left side. Bomb the grey block at the bottom and fall down. It's a Security Room. This unlocks Level 4 doors. Go ahead and do so, we're kinda trapped otherwise. Exit. As you go up the room here, stop when you see a ledge to the right. There's a hidden Morph Ball tunnel here, so take it. In here, you have a tiny puzzle. There's a bunch of Scisers trapped in a small chamber. Use a Power Bomb to kill them, but don't pick up any of the X Parasites. Instead, wait until a couple of them form as gold Scisers in another chamber. Kill those, and if done right, the door at the bottom should glow and be openable. Head in. Here, just use a Power Bomb to reveal an Energy Tank and the way to it. [MISSILE TANKS: 41/48] Head back up and continue through a couple more rooms until you're in a larger room. In here, shoot the right wall so you can access the rest of the room, as going up just gets you to a Powamp that blocks your path. You'll get to a door that contains a Save Room. Head up and left, then at the top, head right after freezing the Powamp when it's deflated. Enter the door and keep heading right until you can't. Start running left without stopping so you'll blast through Speed Booster blocks in said large room. Enter the door below. Start running without stopping. At the end, store your Speed Boost, and Shinespark up at the hole in the ceiling. You'll blast through some blocks and get access to a Power Bomb Tank! [POWER BOMB TANKS: 16/32] Drop a little bit and hold left to grab a ledge, climb in, and get to the end for a Missile Tank! Return and enter the door. Missile the ceiling at the top, and enter the door. Use a Power Bomb to clear the way to the next room. In this next room, you'll be blocked by Powamps, so enter the other door here to find a Data Room. There's...something ready for us? Enter the machine and get the data. [[DIFFUSION MISSILES ACQUIRED]] Another Missile upgrade. This time you can charge up your Missiles. To do so, hold R. When it's fully charged, fire the Missile. Upon impact, the Missile's explosion will diffuse and spread across a large area, freezing anything in its range. Huh, kinda cool. You can use this to get past said Powamps. Once on the other side, go through the opening below here. Next room, kill the blue Geron, then get to the left side. Shoot the wall under the frayed wires to find another Missile Tank. And it's electrified as well...which means we won't be traversing the water it's in. So what do we do? Well plant a Power Bomb. You'll reveal some handlebars to hang from. Damage B.O.X. the same way you did before, except this time, you're low enough to get hit by its jumps, and it deploys homing missiles at you instead of fire bombs. Shoot the missiles to get rid of them. Eventually, the robot shell will be destroyed, leaving the brain that was controlling it...which then turns into a Hard Core-X. It's too much for it though, and the Metroids overcome the SA-X. Unfortunately, due to all the damage the SA-X caused, this place is about to detach and self-destruct, so hurry up and exit this lab! [POWER BOMB TANKS: 21/32] Enter the vertical room nearby and get to the bottom, entering the left door. Traverse the room to the next door. Go through there. In here, place a Power Bomb to reveal a hole within the lava. Drop through to find a maze. Head right, but don't fall through. Jump up through to the upper right, and traverse the path here all around to the other side, where a Power Bomb Tank awaits. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 22/32] Now head into the large green (as by the map) room in the lower right corner of this Sector. Get in the lava, and Screw Attack the right wall until none of it is left. Speed Boost through the door behind said wall. ____________________________________________________ |..________________________________________________..| |:/ \:| || _________ ________ || || ___ _______} : } : | || || |O | : } * |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯| | || || | |_________| |¯¯¯¯ |O| || || __| }*: : | | | || || << *} |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: : | | || || ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ | | || || | | || || | | || || |O| || || | | || || >>: | || || ¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ In here, Shinespark upwards when against the right wall, and you'll fly up through another Power Bomb Tank, then pass another one. Drop down to the second one and use a Power Bomb to reveal Screw Attack blocks you can get through to reach said Tank. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 24/32] Now head back to the large room next to the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms at the entrance. Take the middle left door, cross the room, then in the next room, Power Bomb to reveal a hole in the wall. Shoot away all the obstructions, then Speed Boost left, doing a Shinespark up through the narrow part of the ceiling. Now just Space Jump to the Energy Tank here. [ENERGY TANKS: 18/20] Now, we should have all items collected in Sector 3, so head to the bottom of this room, Screw Attack the floor, and follow the path below to enter Sector 5. ______________________________________ |..__________________________________..| |:/ \:| || ______ || || __ : | || || : | | | ___ || || _____| {_: |___| : << || || << : }*: :*: : : :¯ || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯: :¯¯ |¯| || || : } | | || || | {___| |_ || || : : : | |O| || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯: | | | || || : : { | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Once here, head down to the large room left of the Data Room, and take the lower right door. Follow the path until you need to go down. Shoot through the floor, then enter the yellow door to the right. In here, get to the corner on the right, Morph, and jump up into the hidden tunnel here. From here, shoot the ceiling then Space Jump to the top. See the indent in the ceiling? Shoot there to find a Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 47/48] That should be all items in Sector 5. Now make your way to the room just right of the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms. Enter the left yellow door at the bottom. Screw Attack apart the left wall, follow it to enter Sector 6. _____________________________________________________ |.._________________________________________________..| |:/ | \:| || SECTOR 4 SECTOR 6 || ||- - - - - - - - - -|- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -|| || ______ __________________ || || : { : << | ___: : : : { : << || || | |¯¯¯ << : { |¯} {¯¯¯| :¯¯¯ || || | | | ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯ : { || || TO : | TO SEC. 4 | : || || SEC. 2 | | | ¯¯ || || _| | || || << : | | || || ¯¯¯ || |:\ | /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Once there, make your way to the Menu-infested room next to the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms. Drop down to the bottom left part of this room, then Screw Attack the left wall down here. Follow this path to Sector 4. Don't worry, we'll get back to Sector 6 in a sec. Since Sector 4 should already be cleared of items, once you exit the secret passage, use a Diffusion Missile to get you out, drop to the bottom of this room, Screw Attack the floor, head through the door, and make your way to Sector 2. _____________________________________ |.._________________________________..| |:/ \:| || ___________ || || |O : } : | || || |O |¯|L: |___ || || ¯:¯¯¯:¯¯¯: } : << || || : :¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || | }__ || || :___{ { || || | : : | || || | |¯¯¯: || || : | *| || || | | |__ || || | : : :_____ || || : :¯¯¯: :S: :*|___________ || || | | | :¯¯¯¯ : { :O | || || : : ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| |¯| | || || ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ |O | || || ¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ When you emerge, you'll find yourself close to the Security Room at the top of this place. Get in there, and Screw Attack the left wall high. Enter the door. Up here, pretty much the entire middle portion of this room is nothing but drop-through blocks. Carefully Space Jump your way across to the left side. At a fork, if you take the upper path, you get an Energy Tank. If you take the lower path, Power Bomb Tank. [ENERGY TANKS: 19/20] [POWER BOMB TANKS: 25/32] Now, one last place here. Remember that room where we fought that cyclops boss, and we got the Hi-Jump from? Yeah, all the way down there? Well, return to that room. Space Jump to the upper right corner to find a ledge. Screw Attack the wall, enter the door that's behind. In this room, drop to the bottom. Use a Power Bomb to reveal a Missile Tank and some Speed Booster blocks. Head to the right side, Speed Boost left, store the charge, spin jump to the level of the blocks, then shoot to stop spinning and immediately press A to Shinespark right. Pick up the last Missile Tank. [MISSILE TANKS: 48/48] Now, there's a Power Bomb Tank at the top, but to do this, we need to Speed Boost to the top, with the help of Shinesparks. It should be self-explanatory, just practice makes perfect. It's certainly not as bad as anything Zero Mission can throw at you. (Ugh.) Anyway, once collected, make your way to the large room next to the Nav/Save/Recharge. Anyway, once in said large room, enter the left door below the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms. Screw Attack the left wall to reveal an entrance to Sector 1. Head in there for a quick sec. You'll find a Power Bomb Tank as you enter, so grab it, then backtrack all the way to Sector 6, the same route you took before. (Why not take the Main Elevator? Well, there's a reason for that.) Enter the middle left door. Kill all the enemies here and Screw Attack the obstruction. Start running right into a Speed Boost, back into the vertical room. Shinespark right, enter the door. Now, in this room, place Bombs on the middle of the first two platforms to extend pipes on the sides of them. Next platform, place Bombs on the left and right sides. Last platform, middle. If you place Bombs on the wrong spots or use Power Bombs, pipes will emerge and block the path. Don't want that. Speed Boost right, and jump to the last Energy Tank. Exit the room. You'll have to Speed Boost back out of here. Same room, kill the enemies and rid the obstructions, then Speed Boost left. Store the energy, open the door, and Shinespark left. You should fly past a lot of stuff, into a new room, and past a Power Bomb Tank. Once you've stopped, get on top of this platform here, get to the right side, Speed Boost to the left, store the charge, and release a Shinespark back right at the correct height and you'll grab the P.B. Tank that you passed. Drop to the bottom of this room now. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 28/32] Get to the left side, then Speed Boost right. Store the charge, spin jump up above, Shinespark against the ramp, and then IMMEDIATELY start Space Jumping up while in Speed Boost. If you do it right, you'll get above the next Power Bomb Tank. Then, just drop to it while still in Speed Boost mode. Once you have it, exit this room via Shinespark. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 29/32] Enter the bottom door. Next room, Screw Attack through the walls on the right, enter the door. In here, plant a Power Bomb and you'll reveal fall-through blocks next to the Power Bomb Tank in here. This is a bit tricky, but when you get up there, either time a Jumpball or un-Morph and jump as soon as you can towards the Tank. We've cleared out all Sectors. We just have two more items to get and they're both in the Main Deck. First, make your way to the Restricted Zone from Sector 6. Once you're there and at the Save Room, start a Speed Boost run to the left. Once in the part with the space background, Shinespark straight up from the middle and you'll fly up, collecting another Power Bomb Tank. Head right to the Navigation Room. Prepare for a bit of story, finally. [POWER BOMB TANKS: 31/32] ************************* Computer: "We're done here. Leave the rest to the Federation... We should be preparing to evacuate the station..." Samus: "Are you joking!? Do they know how dangerous the X are? ...How quickly they reproduce?" Computer: "The Federation has taken interest in the X and SA-X. They believe this life-form has endless potential applications." Samus: "This is ridiculous! The X are heartless abominations! What potential could they have?" Computer: "It is not necessary that you understand such matters. The Federation is coming now. You should just leave quietly..." Samus: "This is madness! They won't stand a chance here! This station will devour them! What could be worth the risk!?" Computer: "Capturing the SA-X, of course." Samus: "...Are you serious!? Do they really think they can succeed?" Computer: "It will certainly be difficult. They don't expect your help. They knew you would try to destroy the SA-X... That's why they stopped sending you support data... The Plasma Beam modification was ready some time ago, but they withheld it to keep you from engaging the SA-X. Yet somehow you restored that function on your own... They also tried to withhold the Diffusion Missile upgrade because they didn't want you to grow too powerful. But they had already sent it, and you tracked it down... Bravo, Samus." Samus: "They must cancel this mission! Open a channel to HQ! I won't let this happen!" Computer: "They are already on their way." Samus: "Fools..." "As soon as the Federation ships land, the X will overwhelm them and absorb their knowledge and power of their occupants. The X are just waiting for the hunt to begin, and then they'll spread across the universe. Galactic civilization will end. "The X hunger for form, knowledge, and power. They mimic these perfectly. But they cannot copy the soul. They're single-minded, instinctively seeking to increase in number. They're a plague, and the Federation underestimates their threat. "The X must not leave here. I must destroy them all before the Federation arrives. This station has a self-destruct mechanism. I must use it to destroy the X here and on the planet. I must send them to oblivion. Them, the station, and myself, if I have to." ************************* Well, we need to get busy, but...the doors still aren't opening? Contact the computer again. ************************* Samus: "Open the hatch!" Computer: "I have been ordered to confine you until the ships arrive." Samus: "Don't let them do this. Can't you see what will happen, Adam?" Computer: "...Adam?" Samus: "........." Computer: "...Who is Adam?" Samus: "...A friend of mine." Computer: "And what would this...friend advise you to do now?" Samus: "He would know that the only way to end this is to start the self-destruct cycle. He'd know how important it is..." Computer: "Did this 'Adam' care for you? Would he sit in a safe Command Room and order you to die?" Samus: "He would understand that some must live and some must die... He knew what it meant. He made that sacrifice once." Computer: "So, he chose life for you? Our fair warrior, Samus Aran... Your Adam gave his life so that you might keep yours... For the sake of the universe..." Samus: "........." Computer: "How foolish." Samus: "How dare you! How could you hope to understand, machine?" Computer: "You know that detonating this station in high orbit would not guarantee the complete extinction of the X parasites, even though the station would be utterly destroyed... You would only succeed in removing the one obstacle to the galaxy's ruin...yourself. You would ignore this simple fact and choose death. When Adam decided who would live, he chose incorrectly." Samus: "...!" Computer: "...If you were to alter the station's orbit, then you might be able to include the planet in the vaporization field of the self-destruct detonation." Samus: "...?" Computer: "You would have to start the propulsion sequence now. Before the Federation arrives. Samus, this is your last mission. Go to the Operations Room and adjust the station's orbit path to intercept SR388. Then return to your ship and escape. Move quickly, and stay alive. That's an order! Any objections, Lady?" ************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================ A Final Hope ================================= \____________/ _________________________________________ |.._____________________________________..| |:/ \:| || ____ || || : | || || : |_ || || : : | || || ¯¯¯¯¯^ || || __^ || || ___| : | || || ____ | :N: :¯ || || ____________ : :O| | :¯¯¯¯ || || } : : : {¯{ :¯:S: ¯{ || || ¯^¯¯¯¯¯¯: | : | |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || ^ ¯¯: : : : || || _____^___ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ || || : : : || || | |¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || ^ || || ^ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ So the computer was Adam all along? What a tweest! Since you'll be arriving back in Sector 1, just make the long way back to the Main Deck. Once there, before arriving in the Operations Deck, you should notice on the map that there's one small room we haven't explored yet. Get there to find a large Geron blocking the path. Blow it up with a Power Bomb, then head inside. In here, there are quite a few hidden Morph Ball tunnels. The one you need to take though is the upper-most one. Follow it (use Jumpball often) and you'll eventually grab the very last item: the last Power Bomb Tank. Yay! Now get yourself to the Operations Deck! (Might be good to save before getting there.) [POWER BOMB TANKS: 32/32] Attempt to make your way to the topmost door. ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Samus Aran-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It's the SA-X! Well, one of them, anyway. Drop down to the bottom so you'll have more room to fight with. Considering you now have a piercing function for your Beam, you can take on the SA-X. Still kinda tough on your first time though, since the SA-X still hurts. The only thing that can damage the SA-X is charged shots. Note that usually after it gets hit, the SA-X will do a low-ranged Screw Attack towards you. Get away. If both of you impact each other with your Screw Attacks, you'll both take damage...but you'll take more. It's not recommended to "butt heads," so to speak. Once SA-X's "normal" form is done, it suddenly mutates into a grotesque monstrosity version of itself. At this point, all it does to attack is by jumping around (which is a bit sad), so move around and keep firing charged shots at it. Eventually, that form will go down, leaving the Core-X. This one is eyed, so shoot it with Missiles once it opens. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: _________________________ |.._____________________..| |:/ \:| || _______ || || | : | || || ¯¯¯: |_ || || : : | || || ¯¯¯¯¯V || || __V || || ___| : | || || ___ | :N: :¯ || || : :___| :¯¯¯¯ || || | : :S: ¯{ || || | |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || || : :¯¯¯:¯| || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯| | || || : |_______ || || | : : | || || ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ || |:\ /:| |..¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Once the barrier is destroyed, head up to absorb the X...but it flees before you can grab it. Meh, oh well. Not like we need a new power anyway. Enter the top-most door. In here, work the terminal. Samus will set the self-destruct sequence and the thrusters to head towards SR388. We have 3 minutes to evacuate, MOVE! You know where to go, head back to the landing deck. Doors you leave behind and ones that deviate from the path are locked, so it's very easy to get back. Just make sure you don't dawdle. Once you'r at the landing deck... your ship isn't there. All that's there is a giant Metroid shell... Wait... Doesn't that mean...? ::::::::::::::::::::: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ BOSS: Omega Metroid ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Knew it! A Metroid escaped from the breeding lab before it detached, and it rapidly transformed into an Omega, just like Adam said the researchers were working on. Well, this Omega is HUGE compared to the ones Samus fought in Metroid II, though this one doesn't fly. Problem is...he seems invulnerable. No beam shots can harm it, and your Missiles just bounce right off of it. Not to mention... *SLASH* Ouch!! Its claws sting so much, making Samus lose her mobility and almost all of her energy! She seems helpless.... Until the SA-X you just fought materializes back and shoots its Ice Beam into the Omega Metroid's belly, hurting it. Sympathy from the SA-X, or just it seeing a bigger threat to its existence? I prefer the latter, but it's never really been explained. Either way, the Omega Metroid retaliates by swiping at the SA-X, making it dematerialize into its X form. At this point, Samus has regained mobility, so jump up to the X! Suddenly, Samus has restored her original DNA makeup (don't ask how), and is able to wield the Ice Beam! Time to say good-bye, Omega Metroid! Shoot your Beam into the Omega's belly. You still have to watch out for its swipes. Though they don't hurt as much anymore, that isn't saying much, and you still get immobile briefly from it. _____________________ ::::::::::::::::::::: Once the Omega Metroid is killed, Samus's ship comes back. Quickly get in the ship and escape before impact! ************************* Having escaped the explosion from the station that consumed the planet SR388 in the process, the universal threat from X Parasites has been wiped. "That perfect military mind... The wisdom of Adam Malkovich continued to serve even after death. Until today, I had no idea that the minds of leaders and scientists were frequently uploaded to computers. My incredible reunion with Adam may have saved the universe... "But how will the beings of the universe view our resolve? I doubt they will understand what we did...the danger we barely averted. They will hold tribunals and investigations. They will hold us responsible. Adam understood this, and he spoke to me in my anger... "'Do not worry. One of them will understand. One of them must.' I've reflected upon his words, and I see the wisdom in them. We are all bound by our experiences. They are the limits of our consciousness. But in the end, the human soul will ever reach for the truth... This is what Adam taught me. Just one detail still bothers me. This ship can only be started manually. Yet, before I faced the Omega Metroid, the ship moved on its own, guided by someone's hands. Is it possible? Adam...?" Adam: "Lady, what's troubling you? You wonder how I started the ship? Just think about it. They lent me a hand..." ...And it was the Etecoons and Dachoras? Wow, they're really smart animals! ************************* \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| End |X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ And that's the end. The credits will come up, and then shortly afterwards, your ending picture. As a tradition of Metroid games, your ending picture will be chosen depending on how well you did. This time, it not only counts your time finished, but also item percentage. In turn, this also gives more endings to be viewable. The endings you can get are described below, along with criteria to getting them. Couple neat things about this. Different versions of Fusion have different endings. So I will be covering the NSTC/PAL endings first, then the JPN endings. Also, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission can be linked together. If you have Fusion in one GBA, and Zero Mission in another GBA, and link them together with a special GBA-to-GBA transfer cable, (you can also use a GBA and the Game Boy Player with a GC-to-GBA transfer cable if you have those instead) you will unlock Fusion's ending gallery to be viewable in Zero Mission. This Fusion gallery includes ALL endings: the NTSC/PAL endings, the JPN endings, and also two bonus endings. I'll cover these as such. (NTSC/PAL, JPN, ExTRA) (To get deeper into it, for either GBA-to-GBA or GC-to-GBA connectivity, in order for it to work, Zero Mission has to be in the host system, and Fusion in the second system. Connect the smaller port of the cable to the host system, and the large port of the cable to the second system. In other words, if using a Game Boy Player, Zero Mission must be in the GBP.) -------------------------- Ending #1 (NTSC/PAL) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game in over 4 hours with anything under 100% items. - This ending is just Samus posing, still completely in her suit. -------------------------- Ending #2 (NTSC/PAL) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game between 2 to 4 hours with anything under 100% items. - This ending has Samus in her suit, helmet-less, posing with her back towards you and her left arm raised. -------------------------- Ending #3 (NTSC/PAL) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game in under 2 hours without 100% items. - This ending has Samus posing in front of a window with a two-piece blue outfit. -------------------------- Ending #4 (NTSC/PAL) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game in over 2 hours with 100% items. - This ending shows Samus standing in the city in her two-piece blue outfit, brushing her hair aside. -------------------------- Ending #5 (NTSC/PAL) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game in under 2 hours with 100% items. - This ending fully shows Samus in her two-piece blue outfit, with a larger, transparent vision of herself behind her. -------------------------- Ending #1 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Easy difficulty, or Hard difficulty in over 4 hours. - This ending is just Samus posing, still completely in her suit. (Same as NTSC/PAL Ending #1.) -------------------------- Ending #2 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Normal difficulty in over 4 hours. - A shot of Samus in her suit below, having a flashback to her mother protecting her from Ridley's attack back on K2-L. -------------------------- Ending #3 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Normal difficulty in between 2 and 4 hours. - A shot of Samus, helmetless and in her suit, on the side. The other side showing young Samus sitting somewhere and a Chozo looking kindly at her. -------------------------- Ending #4 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Normal difficulty in under 2 hours. - A shot of Samus in her two-piece blue outfit below, and a shot of pre-teen Samus jumping and looking back at a Chozo elder. -------------------------- Ending #5 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Normal difficulty in over 2 hours with 100% items. - A head shot of Samus in her two-piece outfit on the lower right corner, and a larger shot of a slightly older-than-preteen Samus swinging from a rope as a Chozo elder looks on. -------------------------- Ending #6 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Normal difficulty in under 2 hours with 100% items. - Three shots of Samus. One is a head shot of current Samus, another right beside is a side head shot of teen Samus, middle is a full-body shot of teen Samus in white clothing. Finally, there's a shot of a Chozo and a Chozo elder in the upper right corner. -------------------------- Ending #7 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Hard difficulty in between 2 and 4 hours. - This ending has Samus in her suit, helmet-less, posing with her back towards you and her left arm raised. (Same as NTSC/PAL Ending #2.) -------------------------- Ending #8 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Hard difficulty in under 2 hours. - This ending has Samus posing in front of a window with a two-piece blue outfit. (Same as NTSC/PAL Ending #3.) -------------------------- Ending #9 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Hard difficulty in over 2 hours, with 100% items. - This ending shows Samus standing in the city in her two-piece blue outfit, brushing her hair aside. (Same as NTSC/PAL Ending #4.) -------------------------- Ending #10 (JPN) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Beat the game on Hard difficulty in under 2 hours, with 100% items. - This ending shows the Metroid Screw Attack logo behind Samus in her two-piece blue outfit, standing in a weird position. She has a glove on her left hand and a grey mechanical arm on her right, wielding a green-colored gun. Kind of a weird picture, honestly. -------------------------- Ending #1 (EXTRA) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Connect Metroid Fusion with Metroid: Zero Mission to unlock this in ZM's Fusion Gallery. - Artwork of Samus in her Fusion Suit in a battle-ready stance (reminds me of Spider-Man), placed over some sort of artwork comic. (Top panel just shows Samus herself, hair blowing behind her. Middle panel shows Samus in her Fusion Suit blasting at something unseen. Bottom panel shows Ridley in normal form breathing fireballs.) -------------------------- Ending #2 (EXTRA) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Connect Metroid Fusion with Metroid: Zero Mission to unlock this in ZM's Fusion Gallery. - Artwork of what seems to be showing dozens of copies of Metroid Fusion action figure packs hanging from store hangers. The package includes an action figure of Samus in her Fusion Suit, an action figure of the SA-X, a small model of the Metroid infant (featured in Metroid II/Super Metroid), and some kind of other model (maybe a detachable Arm Cannon or something?). I dunno if this action figure pack actually exists, but I'd love to have these regardless. ===================================== So as you can see, the Japanese version of Metroid Fusion that was released a few months later actually has some unique endings that reference the official manga. It also has difficulty settings. I imagine that the JPN Normal difficulty is the difficulty of the NTSC/PAL versions, so I can't imagine how Hard mode is. I don't know if Hard mode in Fusion is the same as Zero Mission though. (Items giving half of what they usually do.) ===================================== Also, note that the path I chose for this walkthrough was not the quickest method. If you wish to get under two hours, consider another guide, but here's some changes from my walkthrough path that would make things much quicker. - Get Missile Tank #47 on the first visit to Sector 5. - As well as getting Missile Tank #34 in the second visit to Sector 3 (saving the boiler room from imminent implosion), also get Energy Tank #18 as well. - When doing the item cleanup at the end of the game, start by taking the secret passage to Sector 2 from Sector 1. Clear Sector 2, take the secret passage to Sector 4, then to Sector 6. Clear that Sector, then head towards the Restricted Zone to get Power Bomb Tank #31. Once back in Sector 1, THEN take the secret passage to Sector 3. Clear that Sector, then you can enter a Nav Room and progress the story. As well as those, as far as I know, times spent in "cutscenes" in the Navigation Rooms count towards gameplay time, so pressing A can make the text scroll a lot faster. For more in-depth tips, I'd suggest either watching a video speed-run, or reading a speed-run specific guide. ===================================== Anyway, that should be all for this walkthrough! The items are listed in the order the walkthrough gets them, so there's no "official" Missile Tank #39, for example. \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| Upgrades |X / \===================================/ \ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ This lists the upgrades Samus gets, either from Data Rooms or defeated Core-X enemies. Listed in the order you get them in the game. -------------------------- Missiles ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The ability to use Missiles is given to Samus through the Data Room in the Operations Deck near the top of the Main Deck. - Use Missiles by holding the R Button before firing with B. Missiles contain much more firepower than the regular Beam, and can be used to kill enemies that have resistance to Beam weapons. You start off with 10 Missiles, and can increase your capacity by 5 with each Missile Tank you find, eventually leading to the maximum 250. -------------------------- Morph Ball ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The ability to use the Morph Ball is given to Samus when she absorbs the Core-X of Arachnus, the first boss, in the Main Deck. - The Morph Ball can be activated by crouching first, and then pressing down again. It can squeeze through small tunnels...and nothing else, honestly. But it is definitely used a lot. You can Morph in mid-air by pressing down twice in quick succession. If you see a small opening up in a wall, you can hang from it, then press up. Samus will Morph while pulling herself up, removing the need to do mid-air Morphs. -------------------------- Charge Beam ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The ability to use the Charge Beam is given to Samus when she absorbs the Core-X around the center of Sector 1. - The Charge Beam is exactly like the name says. Hold B to charge the Arm Cannon, and release to fire a more powerful shot. This also changes the look of your Beam, making it look a bit wider. It even splits if part of it hits, making it essentially two shots in one. Finally, if you let off a Charge Shot at point-blank range, it does more damage than usual. -------------------------- Bombs ¯¯¯¯¯ - The ability to use the Bombs is given to Samus through the Data Room in Sector 2. - The Bombs allow you to lay Bombs in your wake as Morph Ball form. Just press B. They can be used to damage enemies, or to blow open/reveal some weak walls. If you keep the Morph Ball on a Bomb when it explodes, you'll be popped into the air in what is called a Bomb Jump. -------------------------- Hi-Jump & Jumpball ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Samus gains this ability by absorbing the Core-X of Zazabi, the large, strange creature lurking in the depths of Sector 2. - This is very self-explanatory...getting this allows Samus to jump higher and lets her jump while in Morph Ball form. -------------------------- Speed Booster ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Samus gains this ability by absorbing Serris's Core-X in Sector 4, AQA. - With this, Samus can run at high speeds, blasting through some weak material and killing most enemies. To activate, just move left or right without stopping for a few seconds. While in Speed Boost, crouching can store the energy built up. Once stored, jump to activate the Shinespark: a super jump that sends you flying at high speeds. This Shinespark can be directed in any of the five directions. -------------------------- Super Missile ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This upgrade is available in the Data Room of Sector 3 once you're allowed there. - This basically just upgrades your Missiles' power three times more than normal, making them more powerful than before. -------------------------- Varia Suit ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Samus gets this upgrade by defeating a Core-X that absorbed the original data from a Data Room in Sector 6. - This is pretty self-explanatory. The Varia Suit upgrade protects Samus from extreme temperatures, and also increases her resistance to attacks. -------------------------- Ice Missile ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This upgrade can be gotten at the Data Room in Sector 5, first visit. - This upgrade adds an ice effect to your Missiles. When you hit an enemy with these, whatever they don't kill, they freeze. Frozen enemies can be used as temporary platforms or to just keep annoying enemies out of the way. -------------------------- Wide Beam ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This upgrade is gotten from a Core-X mimicking a human trying to sabotage the research station in Sector 3. - This upgrade strengthens Samus's Beam power, and also spreads it into a wider radius with tri-shots, similar to the Spazer Beam. -------------------------- Power Bomb ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This upgrade is gotten from Sector 5's Data Room, second visit to the area. - Power Bombs are multi-use! They can kill/damage enemies in its blast zone, can suck in X Parasites after the explosion, and can reveal/destroy weapon-sensitive blocks. These use ammo, and once you get the upgrade, it starts you with 10. Each Power Bomb Tank found can increase the ammo by 2, so when all are collected, you have 74 maximum Power Bombs. -------------------------- Space Jump ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This upgrade is gotten by defeating the powerful Yakuza spider boss in the Reactor Core at the Main Deck. Just absorb the Core-X. - The Space Jump allows Samus to "fly" in the air, so to speak, by jumping in the air infinitely. To do so, do a running jump so that you're spinning. Once you reach the peak of your jump and start descending for a split second, jump again. The move requires timing to get it right, and if you're off, you can't jump again until you land. Once you get the timing down though, it's a great way to move around...especially once you get the Screw Attack. -------------------------- Plasma Beam ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This upgrade is gotten by destroying the source of the vegetation choking the main silo, Nettori, in Sector 2. Absorb the Core-X left behind. - The Plasma Beam upgrades your Beam's power, and allows it to pierce through enemies. It appears as three thin green lasers. Kinda like the Spazer Beam, except green and more powerful. -------------------------- Gravity Suit ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This ability is recovered when Samus absorbs the Core-X of Nightmare, fought in Sector 5. - The Gravity Suit decreases the damage Samus takes from enemies, negates lava damage, and allows unhindered movement in water and lava. Quite nice! -------------------------- Diffusion Missile ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This ability is gotten from the Data Room in Sector 4. Pretty simple. - Diffusion Missiles add more power to your Missiles by causing diffusion upon impact, spreading freezing crystals in a wide range, freezing any enemies within close proximity of the Missile. To use, just charge it up by holding R, then press B to fire it. -------------------------- Wave Beam ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This ability is recovered from the Core-X that infected B.O.X., the Security Robot. You end up getting it on the second visit to Sector 6. - The Wave Beam increases your Beam's power, and also allows it to pass through walls. Pretty much the ultimate Beam. -------------------------- Screw Attack ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The ultimate attack for Samus, this is acquired by absorbing the Core-X that mimicked Ridley in Sector 1. - The Screw Attack allows your somersault jump to become deadly to the touch. That's...pretty much it. Jump while running and if you jump into something, it most likely will die. \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| Missile Tanks |X / \===================================/ \ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ There are 48 Missile Tanks in the game, and each Tank increases your capacity by 5. Since you start with 10 Missiles in capacity when you first are able to use them, collecting them all gets you to 250. -------------------------- Missile Tank #01 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the ability to use Missiles, electrical interference will force you to take a different path. On this path, you'll eventually see this in plain sight. -------------------------- Missile Tank #02 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the first Missile Tank, enter the room to the left. Shoot the top ledge to reveal this Tank inside. -------------------------- Missile Tank #03 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you have the Morph Ball, you'll be heading to Sector 1. Along the way, in the first dark room towards the Quarantine Bay, just left of a Navigation Room, there's a tunnel that leads off to the right. Roll through as the Morph Ball to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #04 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you enter Sector 1, head right until you can go down. Do so and take the door to the left below. At the end of the Moto hallway, you get to a vertical passageway. Enter the left door without dropping, then in this lava room, jump towards the handlebars on the ceiling while pressing up to grab on, and climb left to see this Missile Tank. Release from the bars by jumping. -------------------------- Missile Tank #05 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - At the bottom right part of Sector 1, take the upper left door in the atmospheric stabilizer room. Behind that door is this Tank in a small, flooded room, with a Sciser guarding it. -------------------------- Missile Tank #06 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Charge Beam in Sector 1, exit the room through the upper right door. Shoot the ceiling to open it up, jump up, then hang on the handlebars on the ceiling above. Shoot a Missile at the left wall then shoot your Beam the rest of the way, then crawl in. Inside, kill the Scisers as you reach this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #07 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the Save Room on the right side of Sector 1, there's a cracked part of the wall. Shoot it open, then do a mid-air Morph Ball to get in. Inside, Wall Jump to the top to collect this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #08 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Right after getting Bombs from the Sector 2 Data Room, across from it is a Bombable wall. Do that and roll through to find this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #09 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Bombs, make your way down through the majority of Sector 2, which are hidden rooms. When you first get to a vertical room, climb up to the top. There should be an alcove with a Zero. Crouch on top of the middle part, and shoot at the left wall to find an opening. Head inside, Bomb the floor to find a metal pole, and jump from that pole to reach this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #10 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the lower left room in Sector 2 (in the green area), head into the secluded section filled with Zeros. Bomb the lowest point of the right wall and roll through the revealed tunnel to find this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #11 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Hi-Jump/Jumpball ability in Sector 2, you'll be faced with an SA-X encounter. Right afterwards, you'll be in a very tall, vertical room. Climb up, take the first left door to find a flooded room. Jump up to the ceiling handlebars, hold up to grab them, and climb left to find this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #12 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the same room, drop into the water. Kill the Skulteras and Bomb the floor until you find a metal pole. Get on it and jump through the opening. Enter the door. In here, Bomb the floor for another metal pole, get on it, and jump to the block as a Morph Ball so you can Bomb it. Now you can gain access to this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #13 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the last Tank, climb up to the very top of the vertical room. Once you're in a room that's hugging the lower right side of the first major room of Sector 2, Bomb the wall inside the ledge to the right to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #14 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In afore-mentioned first room, take the blue door. Use the Jumpball and place Bombs along the right wall until you find an opening, and head through to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #15 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In that first room of Sector 2, take the middle door on the left. Now that you have the Hi-Jump, you can jump over the mutated Kago to grab this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #16 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This is in a secret area of Sector 4. To get it, from the Nav Room, pass the Save and Recharge, then take the lower left door. After the small room, go to the middle of this next large room and jump up through the opening in the ceiling via a high chained platform. Head right until you see a door, then Wall Jump up. Bomb the clearly-marked block line, roll through, Bomb another block line, then Bomb the corner for this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #17 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From Tank #16, get on the middle of the ladder, fire Missiles at the left wall, climb in. Drop, jump across, then jump and shoot away the right wall to get to this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #18 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the entrance of Sector 4, head left until you get to a water tank room filled with Scisers. Take the lower left door. Cross the next room, and jump up into the next room when you get the chance. Climb the left ladder all the way to climb into a secret room. Grab the Tank after killing the Owtches in the way. -------------------------- Missile Tank #19 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Speed Booster, head to the very left of Sector 4, where the Pump Control is. Use the Speed Booster to gain access to it, then once you lower the water level, climb down a bit to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #20 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After the water level is lowered, head right from the Pump Control room, past the vertical room. In this larger room, go to the bottom, kill the Scisers, then start a run from as far left as possible (don't touch the stray wires!) to Speed Boost through a wall. In this secret room, jump up into the water tank to get this Missile Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #21 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 3, after exiting the preliminary rooms, take the lower left door in the first room of the sector. You need to enter with a Speed Booster run so you can jump through the wall. Once done, Bomb the floor near the rightmost hump to find a secret room, apparently empty. Shoot the ceiling to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #22 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the "first" room of the sector as mentioned in the above Tank's description, take the lower right door. In here, climb up, get under the Fune and fall through the floor. Open the gate, then go against the left door. Run right to start a Speed Booster run and break through the floor in the next room. Find the fall-through point and enter the door. Climb up past the Funes, enter the door at the top. Bomb along the left wall, enter the upper passage to find this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #23 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Super Missile upgrade in Sector 3, attempt to head back the way you came and you'll find that the way back is destroyed, yet there is a hole in the floor that wasn't there before. Drop down, enter the door behind the wreckage, and you'll find a Save Room, Recharge Room, and a room with this Tank guarded by Sidehoppers and a Geron. -------------------------- Missile Tank #24 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After warding off B.O.X., the large security robot, in Sector 3, follow it through the hole in the ceiling it made. In the room above, kill all the enemies first, then from the door to the left, run right into a Speed Boost. Store the energy, then do a horizontal up-left Shinespark close to the hole you entered from to blast through the ceiling, and through a wall to the left to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #25 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you enter Sector 6, exit the Nav/Save/Recharge rooms, then the Menu-infested one that's next. In this dark room, go to the bottom and look at the left wall. Part of it is rocky, and there's a break in the wall texture. Bomb there to reveal a path to this hidden Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #26 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Shortly after encountering the SA-X in the first visit of Sector 6, you will get to a Save Room to the left, and a way downward by shooting away blocks. Go down to the lower left corner of this room, and Bomb the raised ground to get rid of it and open a tunnel. Roll in to a new room. Kill the Zozoros, then jump up to and climb into the ledge in the corner. Bomb the end a couple times to get this. In relevance to the map, this is to the left of the Data Room. -------------------------- Missile Tank #27 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Varia Suit upgrade in Sector 6, go right until you can climb up a ladder. Do so. At the top, take the left door to spot this Tank. It's sitting on some fall-through blocks though, so jump into the Tank. You can get this Tank technically before getting the Varia Suit, but it's not recommended. Those blue X HURT. -------------------------- Missile Tank #28 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Directly from Tank #27 above, drop down and hold left against the wall to grab onto a ledge. Pull yourself in, eliminate the Zozoros, then shoot the ceiling to reveal this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #29 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Varia Suit, return to the top-most vertical room that has four doors to go through, in Sector 6. Take the upper right door. Pass the blue X and obstacles, and enter the door. Kill the Mimic, then Bomb the wall to find the actual Missile Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #30 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 5, after getting the Ice Missiles, head to the large room close to the sector's entrance. Climb up the left side by freezing Choots while they're in the air, and enter the upper left door of the room. This Tank is sitting there. -------------------------- Missile Tank #31 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the same large room mentioned in Tank #30's description, take the lower left door, the yellow one. In this room, kill the Geruta. Get into Morph Ball form and jump into the right corner of the ceiling. Place a Bomb at the peak of your jump to reveal this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #32 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - At the bottom of the long vertical room in the middle of Sector 3, take the right green door. In here, kill the Owtches to get them out of the way, then Bomb the top of the platform here to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #33 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the above Tank, Bomb the lower right corner of the room to find a secret area. In here, freeze the Nova and use it as a "boost" to reach the upper door. Take that door, then drop down in the next room. Jump right onto a platform, then freeze Novas on the fall-through platforms to make it to the top-right corner of the room, where an Energy Tank is. Follow the Morph Ball path here back to the left to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #34 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Enter Sector 3. After passing through the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms, you'll be at a large room with a bunch of Geraclaws. Take the middle left door here, as long as you have the Varia Suit. Climb across the ceiling handlebars, all while being careful about fire streams blasting from the lava. There are also a couple of Sidehoppers on the ceiling, be careful. Enter the door at the end to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #35 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you're able to get back on the Main Deck, go to the top of the Main Elevator. You'll notice the hole on the left wall that the SA-X made can actually be passed through. You'll see the Missile Tank, but the seperating wall needs to be Speed Boosted through. Thankfully there's plenty of room to do so. -------------------------- Missile Tank #36 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After taking the elevator to the Habitation Deck in the Main Deck, take the left door. Climb to the top by freezing the Fune/Namihe and take the door there. Now see the square-marked parts of the floor? Shoot the leftmost one and drop down. Shoot away the left wall, then open the gate to the right. Build up a run towards the left so you'll Speed Boost down to the bottom floor. From here, just head right past the gates to get this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #37 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you enter Sector 5, get past the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms, then in the room after that, drop down to the bottom and enter the left yellow door. In here, kill the Zeelas, then find the secret opening to get the Missile Tank. Hint: It's at the bottom of the square the Tank is in. -------------------------- Missile Tank #38 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Power Bombs in Sector 5, you'll be told to head back to your ship on the Main Deck. Along the way, you'll have to take a detour. At the end of this detour, use a Power Bomb to reveal a way out, as well as reveal this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #39 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you get to your ship, you'll be told to head to the Reactor Core to figure out why the main silo is offline. After getting there (head left from the ship 'til you can go up, then Power Bomb to find the entrance), take the upper right door to take an elongated path to the auxiliary systems. After the Energy Tank, you'll get to the next room, which you have to go down by shooting parts of the floor. Eventually you'll see this Missile Tank. Once you are on the right side of this room, on level with the Missile Tank, shoot the left wall to reveal a path to this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #40 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Sometime after getting the Gravity Suit, you'll be forced to make your way to the coral reef section of Sector 4 by Speed Boosting through a wall. Once in, the door right across from you is a Save Room, and the door below is where you need to go. Get past that room, past all the Yards, and get this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #41 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In that first coral reef room mentioned above, make your way to the bottom and take the right door. Here, kill the Mermen Pirates and place a Power Bomb at the yellow pipe to reveal a hole to this Missile Tank below. As well as a bunch of Skultera. -------------------------- Missile Tank #42 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the coral reef area of Sector 4, enter the middle right door in the large room. (It's two squares wide, 3 squares tall.) At the end, don't enter the door. Instead, Space Jump up past the opening in the ceiling. After the screen transition, Space Jump left to find a ledge. Climb in, and follow the path to get this. -------------------------- Missile Tank #43 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the Data Room in Sector 4, exit it, then get to the left side of the adjacent room. Enter the opening in the bottom left. Here, get to the left side of the room and shoot the wall under the frayed wire to find this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #44 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 6, after fighting B.O.X., head to the right of where you fought it. There's a Missile Tank here guarded by a gate. Once you have the Wave Beam, just shoot the light on the other side to open the gate. -------------------------- Missile Tank #45 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Refer to Missile Tank #4. This is the room we need to be in. (Sector 1, lava room in the upper left corner) Using the Space Jump, you can reach this Tank in the upper left corner. -------------------------- Missile Tank #46 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the same room as the above Tank, there's this one in the lower right corner, in the lava. You need the Gravity Suit for this one. Just roll under the rock. -------------------------- Missile Tank #47 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 5, down the vertical room just right and below the Data Room, get to the bottom of the room and find the hidden tunnel in the corner on the right. In here, shoot the ceiling, then Space Jump up to the high ledge on the left. Shoot the indent in the ceiling to find this, Space Jump to it. - That's the easy way. You can get it earlier with a little more work. The first Zeela you see, kill it first, then let the X transform into a Choot. Freeze the Choot when it's up pretty high, and use it as a platform to get to the high left ledge. Up here, kill the Zeela on the ceiling and let the X transform back into a Ripper. Freeze it at the right spot and use it as a platform to reach this Tank. -------------------------- Missile Tank #48 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Go back to the room where you fought Zazabi, the cyclops monster that had your Hi-Jump ability, in Sector 2. Once in this room, Space Jump to the upper right corner to find a ledge. Screw Attack the wall and enter the door behind. In this room, drop to the bottom, and use a Power Bomb to see a Missile Tank and some Speed Booster blocks. Get to the right side, then run left into a Speed Boost. Store the energy, spin jump up to the blocks, shoot to stop spinning and immediately activate the Shinespark to go right. Grab dis. \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| Energy Tanks |X / \===================================/ \ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ Energy Tanks are valuable items that increase Samus's suit shields capacity. Or, health extensions, in Layman's terms. Each Energy Tank increases her energy by 100. There are 20 Energy Tanks in total, making the maximum possible energy capacity 2099. -------------------------- Energy Tank #01 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The first Energy Tank is actually found on the way to the first boss on the Main Deck. You can't really miss it, just like the first Missile Tank. -------------------------- Energy Tank #02 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the first Energy Tank, just to the right of it is a drop to the boss. Well, stand on the left side and fire a Missile at the ceiling above you. Fire a Beam shot afterwards, then jump up and move right to a hidden room with this Energy Tank! -------------------------- Energy Tank #03 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - When you first enter Sector 1, after clearing out the first atmospheric stabilizer, the next room will have you facing a number of Hornoads and Halzyns. An Energy Tank is seen in plain sight under the raised ground on the right. Shoot the side of the raised ground from the left, then roll through to collect your prize. -------------------------- Energy Tank #04 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Kind of easy to find. From the lower left room of Sector 2, head right. Go up at the junction, take the door that is partially closed off (except at the top). Next junction, head right. You'll eventually find this in plain sight. -------------------------- Energy Tank #05 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the entrance to Sector 4, just head left until you get to a water tank room filled with Scisers. Take the upper left door, then just follow the path there to a dead-end with this Tank. -------------------------- Energy Tank #06 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After warding off B.O.X. in Sector 3, follow the path it made. In the room just above where you fought off B.O.X., kill off the enemies, then run left into a Speed Boost as you exit the room. In the very next room, store the Speed Boost and Shinespark left. Bomb the floor in the lower left corner to get this. -------------------------- Energy Tank #07 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you enter Sector 6, go through rooms until you get to your first dark room, which isn't far off at all. Once there, go to the lower right of the room, and Bomb along the right wall to find an opening. Head in. Inside, Bomb along the wall to find three openings. Take the upper one, then Bomb at the end to get this Tank. -------------------------- Energy Tank #08 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This one's also in Sector 6, but it's very easy to find. It's in the path to the Data Room, in plain sight. I can't really say anything more because it's quite easy. -------------------------- Energy Tank #09 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 5, after getting the Ice Missile upgrade, head right and Bomb the floor. Drop until you see some Rippers. Freeze the topmost one to use as a platform to reach the door. Inside is a Mimic disguising itself as an Energy Tank, but the real one can be found by Bombing around the raised platform where the Mimic was sitting. -------------------------- Energy Tank #10 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 3, get to the bottom of the long vertical room around the middle of the sector. Take the right door, then in this Owtch-filled room, Bomb the lower right corner to get to a secret passage. The door here is blocked, so to get to the upper one, freeze the Nova at the right spot and use it as a boost to reach that upper door. After taking the door, drop to the bottom, then jump onto the platform. As the next platforms crumble when you stand on them, freeze the Novas and use them as platforms. Eventually you'll get to the alcove in the upper right corner of this room, where this Energy Tank is hiding. -------------------------- Energy Tank #11 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Power Bombs, you're told to head to your ship. Once you do, you learn that the main silo is offline, so we need to go turn on the auxiliary power systems. You can start heading there by heading straight left from the ship, then once you can go up, instead use a Power Bomb to reveal an opening. Once you get to the Reactor Core area of the Main Deck, take the upper right open door. This Energy Tank will be in plain sight, in the way. -------------------------- Energy Tank #12 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After killing Nettori in Sector 2, the source of the overgrowth, go up to the top of the long vertical room left of where you fought the boss. Take the right door. In this room, jump up the right wall while holding right to grab onto a hidden ledge. Pull yourself up into a hidden room, where this Tank can be found. -------------------------- Energy Tank #13 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the room above where you fight Nightmare. You'll know where it is, as you will see the Energy Tank, and the door will lock behind you. To get this, use a Power Bomb to reveal the fall-through blocks. This way you can get above the Tank so you can grab it. -------------------------- Energy Tank #14 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Gravity Suit, head to the first room where you go underwater in this secret area of Sector 5. It's the vertical room. Anyway, on the right wall, there is a ledge. This pointless ledge is actually a marker: a Missile block is on the left wall on the same level the ledge is at. So jump and Missile that point on the left wall (will take a bit of precision) and climb in. Here is the Tank, but it requires traversing some fall-through blocks. Trial and error here, as if you use a Power Bomb to see those blocks, a pipe blocks access to the Energy Tank. You can jump up through to the upper part, by the way. -------------------------- Energy Tank #15 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Right after opening Level 4 locks in Sector 4, exit the Security Room and start Space Jumping up the adjacent vertical room. Along the way, there's an indent in the right wall next to a chamber of Scisers. Get into Morph Ball and find a hidden tunnel in this indent. In the following room, use a Power Bomb to kill the Scisers, but don't absorb the X Parasites. Let a few of them form gold Scisers so you can kill those and open up the door at the bottom. Next room, just use a Power Bomb to reveal this Tank and the way to it. -------------------------- Energy Tank #16 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Shortly after finding out about the Metroid breeding program the Federation had in secret, you'll find yourself at a secret Tourian-ish hidden area of Sector 1. In the first room (after exiting the elevator), Space Jump to the top. Charge up a Diffusion Missile and let it loose: the resulting explosion should destroy a few Missile blocks as well as reveal this Tank in the middle wall. Grab it. -------------------------- Energy Tank #17 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Get in the Save Room that is below the room where you got the Charge Beam in Sector 1. Start running right to get to a Speed Boost. Once you're in that speed, crouch to store the energy, climb up to the entrance to that Charge Beam room, shoot open the door, and Shinespark left into the room. You'll hit the ramp and continue running. Store the energy, get against the left wall, and Shinespark straight up. You'll find this. -------------------------- Energy Tank #18 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This is hidden in Sector 3. From the large room next to the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms, enter the middle left door. Follow the hall, enter the next door, then Power Bomb/shoot the left wall open. Destroy the obstructions in the way past the wall, and Speed Boost left, Shinesparking up through the thin part of the ceiling. Then just Space Jump to this. - Alternatively, you can get this sooner. The room with this Tank is actually a bit of a maze. Find your way around to the right side into a small chamber, Bomb the floor for a pipe to rise, then use it as leverage to get up to where this Tank is. -------------------------- Energy Tank #19 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 2, go to the Security Room that's at the top. In here, Screw Attack the left wall up high, enter the door. In here, carefully navigate to the left with the Space Jump, as the entirety of this middle ground is fall-through blocks. At the fork, take the upper path to get this. -------------------------- Energy Tank #20 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms in Sector 6, head right until you get to your first vertical room. Take the middle left door. Get rid of any enemies in here, Screw Attack the obstructions, and then Speed Boost back right, back into the vertical room. Shinespark right and enter the door. In this room, you have to Bomb the platforms in specific spots to extend pipes and "complete" the runway, basically. For the first two and last platforms, Bomb the center of them. For the third, Bomb the left and right edges. Now Speed Boost right and jump towards this Tank. \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| Power Bomb Tanks |X / \===================================/ \ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ There are 32 Power Bomb Tanks in the game. Each Tank increases your Power Bomb capacity by 2 units. Added onto the 10 you get when you can first use them, the maximum Power Bomb ammo capacity is 74. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #01 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the Data Room in Sector 5, after getting the Power Bombs, head right, then Bomb the floor, then drop to the bottom. Enter the door there, then Power Bomb so you can go down. Enter the door down here, escape from the SA-X, then in the very next room, you'll spot this Tank. Just plant a Power Bomb to gain access to it. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #02 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Right after collecting the first Power Bomb Tank (see above), climb the ladder. Use a Power Bomb here to blow open a large passage in the ceiling. Climb up the ladder, then you'll have a tall shaft to climb with nothing but Rippers. Use those Ice Missiles to freeze them and use them as platforms. Once at the top, enter the door to grab this. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #03 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the large icy room left of the Data Room, find the rather large Geron that is behind the wall. Power Bomb it, then head through the door behind it. In here, you'll have to freeze Rippers at the right spots to use as platforms for your Morph Ball as you get across the fall-through blocks in the room divider. At the end, get this Tank. It helps if you plant a couple of Power Bombs so you can see those fall-through blocks. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #04 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Power Bombs in Sector 5, you're told to return to your ship in the Main Deck. As you go up the Main Elevator, the power will go out and the elevator will halt abruptly, forcing you to take a detour. Right in the next room after encountering the frozen Ridley corpse, place a Power Bomb to reveal a small vent. Navigate through it to the end, then use another Power Bomb to reveal this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #05 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the auxiliary power back on in the Main Deck, you'll eventually be led to Sector 2. After the SA-X chase, make your way to the large metal room that seems out-of-place compared to the surrounding vertical rooms. In here, Space Jump up the left side until you see a thinner wall with smaller rooms behind. Shoot away the walls and the Puyos and grab this. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #06 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After killing Nettori in Sector 2, exit off the left side of the big metal room mentioned in the above Tank's description. Climb up, enter the door that is somewhat closed off. In this room, you'll see this Tank. To actually get it, freeze Rippers in such a way so you can get under the wall and jump to reach it. I suggest freezing a Ripper below and a bit left the wall, and another right next to the first Ripper. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #07 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Right after getting the above Tank, fall through the floor while shooting downwards. You'll pick this one up. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #08 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Around this time, you'll be told to head to Sector 5 to eliminate Nightmare. The whole place is pretty much destroyed (well, the upper half, at least), so the large room close to the entrance has changed. The upper part of this room has its walls destroyed and are part of the floor now, which leaves a good long place to start a Speed Boost. Shoot open the door up here, kill the Choots, then build up a Speed Boost. Store it then Shinespark left through the door. You'll blast through a wall in the other side and find this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #09 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Continuing through Sector 5, you'll notice that the red door that was above the entrance to the Data Room has been destroyed. Enter there. Shoot the ceiling here to find a way up. Ignore the door and use a Power Bomb to make your way up. Use Power Bombs to reveal passages up while killing the Zebesians, then at the top, open both gates. Get to where the gates were guarding, then Bomb the floor there to find a small secret passage to this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #10 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This is hidden in the secret passage between Sector 5 and Sector 3. Just use a Power Bomb to find it. It's on the Sector 3 side of the passage. To get here, just enter the door mentioned in the above Tank's description, or get past the left wall where Missile Tank #34 is, and Screw Attack through the floor past there. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #11 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After entering the hidden area that's on the right side of Sector 5 (just head right past the destroyed red door above the Data Room) you'll get to a room where you have a door to your right, and a passage that leads up/left to another door. Take that up/left passage so you can get out of the water. Enter the door. Here, kill the Gerutas and destroy the ceiling. Space Jump up, then head left into another room. Use a Power Bomb here to kill all the enemies and reveal this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #12 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the room of Power Bomb Tank #11, exit it and head to the right. Head up to the top to see a door leading to a Save Room. Don't enter. Place a Power Bomb to reveal a tunnel in the left wall. Head in, and spam Jumpball throughout the tunnel until you can actually jump up a bit. The texture of the tiles give a subtle hint here. Anyway, this leads to a small tunnel above the one we're in. Use a Power Bomb to reveal this Tank, and use the upper tunnel to reach the Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #13 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After getting the Gravity Suit, the next place to go to is Sector 4, via a passage in Sector 5. It's in the underwater area. You might have seen a place where you needed the Speed Booster, but couldn't get through because the water hindered your speed. Well, get here now. Speed Boost through the barriers now, and you'll notice that, for some reason, there's two thin walls. Store the Speed Boost energy, get between those thin walls you ran through, and Shinespark up. You'll find this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #14 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Once you enter the coral reef section of Sector 4 after getting the Gravity Suit, you'll notice a door across from you. This is a Save Room. The door below leads to Missile Tank #40. Across from said door, on the left wall, is a hidden ledge. Find it, climb in, and grab this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #15 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the above Tank, go to the bottom of the first coral reef room, then take the left door. Next room, place a Power Bomb when in the yellow pipe to reveal Missile Blocks. Destroy them, jump on top of the pipe, then jump up on the right side. Kill the Evirs, then shoot the terrain on the upper right to find a hidden passage. Behind there is this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #16 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the coral reef area of Sector 4, enter the middle right door in the large room. (It's two squares wide, 3 squares tall.) Speed Boost to the other side, store the energy, and Shinespark up the hole in the ceiling. You'll find this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #17 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - From the Navigation/Save/Recharge Rooms in Sector 4, head left. Keep going left until you're in a 3x3 squares room. In here, place a Power Bomb on the right side to find a passage to a chamber below. Here, under the left frayed wire, place another Power Bomb to find this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #18 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - After finding out about the Metroid breeding program, you'll end up in a hidden area of Sector 1 after going up an elevator. Follow rooms until you're in your first vertical room. The door to the right at the bottom leads to a Save Room. Shoot the floor and head down. In here, kill the trapped Yard, then wait for the X to transform to a Geruta. Kill that, then wait for the X to transform into a Gold Zebesian. Kill that (get behind it and shoot it with a Charge shot) and the door will open. Head inside to get this. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #19 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 1, make your way to the Save Room below the room where you got the Charge Beam near the beginning of the game. Start running right without stopping, getting into Speed Boost speed. It doesn't hurt to keep shooting as well to get rid of any obstructions. Anyway, you'll blast through a wall. After the screen transition, crouch to store the energy. Screw Attack down, then go up against the right side and Shinespark up. You should be in a small alcove. Shoot the left wall to find this. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #20 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Reference Energy Tank #06. We need to get to the upper right part of Sector 2 and Shinespark left to where it is. Now, instead of heading down like you would normally to get the Energy Tank, use a Power Bomb to reveal a tunnel in the left wall. Head in to find this. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #21 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the room just right of the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms in Sector 3, take the lower right door. Shoot open the gate, Speed Boost right to break through the floor in the next room. In the room below there, use a Power Bomb to reveal a hole in the left wall. Head inside and Space Jump up to this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #22 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Get to the bottom of the long, center vertical room in Sector 3. Enter the left door. Traverse the room behind it and enter the next door. In here, place a Power Bomb to reveal a hole in the ground in the lava. Get down there. When you can go left or right, go right. You may fall. If you do, get back up. You need to jump through the rock to get to the upper right corner, then just make your way around the perimeter to this Tank on the other side. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #23 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Get to the bottom of the long, center, vertical room in Sector 3. Enter the right door. In here, shoot the right wall open (if it isn't) and enter the door. Open the gate (if you have the Wave Beam) and enter the lava (if you have the Gravity Suit). Screw Attack apart the right wall here, then Speed Boost through the door behind said wall. Store the energy, get up against the right wall, and Shinespark up. You'll fly into this Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #24 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Leading straight from the above Tank, as you fly further upwards, you'll spot this Tank. To get it, drop back down to it, and use a Power Bomb to reveal a path for your Screw Attack so you can reach the Tank. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #25 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 2, go to the Security Room that's at the top. In here, Screw Attack the left wall up high, enter the door. In here, carefully navigate to the left with the Space Jump, as the entirety of this middle ground is fall-through blocks. At the fork, take the lower path to get this. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #26 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 2, head to the room where you fought Zazabi, the cyclops monster that had your Hi-Jump. Once there, Space Jump to the upper right corner to find a ledge. Screw Attack the wall and enter the door behind. In this next room, drop to the bottom. Now, this Tank is at the top, and you need to get there by using the Speed Booster to go along collapsing bridges. Just Speed Boost across one bridge, store the charge, spin jump up to the next bridge, Shinespark against the ramp to start Speed Boosting again, repeat. It just takes some practice to get used to. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #27 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 1, in the room next to the Nav/Save/Recharge Rooms, take the upper right door. In the seemingly empty room, Screw Attack the ceiling. You'll find this. You can also get here via a secret passage from Sector 2. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #28 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 6, from the main entrance, head right until you get to the first vertical room. Take the middle left door. Kill the enemies and Screw Attack the obstructions, and Speed Boost from right side to left. Store the charge, open the door, and Shinespark left. You should arrive at a new room, passing just above this Tank. To get it, get on top of the platform here, get to the right side, Speed Boost left, store the charge, drop and Shinespark right when you're just above the "ground" for the inside of the platform. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #29 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In the same room as the Tank above, drop to the bottom. Go to the left side, Speed Boost right, store the charge, spin jump up to the bridge, Shinespark against the ramp, and immediately start Space Jumping upwards while in Speed Boost mode. If done right, you'll be high enough above this Tank so that you can drop inside while still in Speed Boost. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #30 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - In Sector 6, head to the room where you fought B.O.X., but don't fall to the bottom. Instead, Screw Attack through the right walls to reach a hidden door. In this room, the Power Bomb Tank is in the upper right corner, but there's a bunch of fall-through blocks next to it. What you have to do is to get up there in Morph Ball, and time a Jumpball JUST right so that you'll jump before having to fall through. If you can't seem to do it, maybe you can freeze an Owtch here to use as a platform (via Diffusion Missile). Haven't tried it personally, but it may work. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #31 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Head to the Restricted Zone from Sector 6. Has to be from there, not from Sector 1. Once at the Save Room, start running to the left from as far right as possible. Once in the room with the space background, Shinespark straight up in the middle of the room and you'll get this on the way up. -------------------------- Power Bomb Tank #32 [ ] ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Somewhere in the Main Deck, next to the elevator to the Habitation Deck, there is a large Geron blocking a green door. Use a Power Bomb to blow it up, head inside. In here, there are some hidden Morph Ball tunnels. The top-most one leads to this Tank that's inside the walls. _______________________________________________________________________________ O _________________________________________ O \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / X--------------X C R E A T U R E S X--------------X / \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \_________________________________________/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \ O O ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ There are many creatures in the game, most old, some new. Regardless, each enemy is an X Parasite in disguise, so many of the old enemies you've come to know may have drastically changed because of their infection. There are also stronger creatures you may occasionally fight, called bosses. Enemies will be listed in alphabetical order, bosses will be listed in chronological order. \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| Enemies |X / \===================================/ \ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ -------------------------- Bull ¯¯¯¯ - A spherical enemy covered in stalks. It floats around in Sector 6 and sometimes spews poison gas. That's...basically all I can say about this thing. Do beware that it always spews gas whenever it's shot at though. -------------------------- Choot ¯¯¯¯¯ - The Choot is a pancake-like enemy that lies on the floor, then when Samus approaches, it jumps up then floats down. X mutation has allowed them to spit acid down as they descend, in an attempt to digest prey before they eat it with their mouth. These are found in Sector 5. -------------------------- Core-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The Core-X is a mutated version of an X, apparently one that has grown due to taking the DNA of a powerful creature. Not only that, but Core-X's contain a part of Samus's suit data. These Core-X are surrounded in spiky, tough barriers that are impervious to Beams. However, Missiles can break the barrier. Depending on the boss, the barrier may be weak or harder. Once the barrier is gone, Samus can collect the remaining X to regain one of her latent abilities! -------------------------- Dessgeega ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This apparent relative of the Sidehopper makes its home in the hottest regions...at least until the X Parasite infection. Dessgeega-X now make their home in tropical regions, similar to the normal Sidehopper. Infection has given the Dessgeega a defense mechanism, however. Whenever it is shot, it shoots some of its spikes back in retaliation. -------------------------- Evir ¯¯¯¯ - A Zebesian creature mainly found underwater. These are the offspring of the now-dead Draygon, and they have been infected by X. They now are orange-colored and only Charge shots can kill them. They occasionally fire off some sort of rock that spins around them, which can be damaging. -------------------------- Fune ¯¯¯¯ - This wall creature found in former Zebes has made its home on Biologic Space Laboratories. This green worm-like creature extends itself from the wall to attack, and sometimes spits energy balls out as well. X Parasite mutation has weakened it, making it vulnerable to Missiles or Charge Shots. It is believed that Funes mature into Namihes. -------------------------- Gadora ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Gadora is a bio-door that usually blocks your way to important areas, like boss rooms. These grotesque giant eyes open up and do one of two things. If it opens its eye and it is pupil-less and flashing, that means it'll fire an energy blast. Dodge it, since you can't damage the Gadora here. The other time is when the Gadora just opens its eye, with its pupil showing. This is when it can be harmed with Missiles. These infested Gadoras usually leave behind Red X Parasites. -------------------------- Geemer ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Possibly a Geemer, not quite sure...these are spiked mollusks that appear in some vents on the Main Deck...but they look different from usual, and they have shells that are impenetrable except against charged shots. -------------------------- Genesis ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A weird creature that resides just out of reach of Samus, crawling in thin ducts above the ceiling. Appearing to resemble Lickers from Resident Evil fare, instead of dropping down and attacking, they instead spit their acidic mucous through the ceiling in an attempt to damage Samus. -------------------------- Geron ¯¯¯¯¯ - A Geron is a mass of biomatter created by an X Parasite, usually acting as a barrier to prevent access to other areas. Normally impervious to Beam fire, they are weak enough to explosive impacts (Missiles). However, some Gerons are stronger and thus require even stronger firepower to destroy. - Certain Gerons have covered themselves over ventilation systems in Sector 1 in order to alter the simulated environment to better fit the X Parasites' needs. These Geron are covered in all sorts of junk, except for, usually, an opening where you can fire Missiles at them to destroy them. -------------------------- Geraclaw ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A mutated Geruta, possibly due to a freak X infection that didn't quite copy a Geruta's DNA or is possibly mixed in with another creature's DNA. Either way, it's a Geruta with abnormal claws that it uses to "rake" Samus with. Found mostly in Sector 3. -------------------------- Geruta ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The Geruta has been drastically mutated by X Parasite infection. Not only has its size been increased, but it's also invulnerable to any Beam shots and has oversized, metal-like claws. Gerutas seem to be found mostly in Sector 5, a totally different environment than what Gerutas are usually found in. Probably a similar habitat change due to X infection much like the Sidehoppers and Dessgeegas. -------------------------- Halzyn ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - X Parasite infestation has changed the Halyzn. The creature flies back and forth like usual, though its hardened wings it uses for shields are now vulnerable to explosives. However, they are spiked, which makes them more dangerous. Halzyn-X have a new attack: if Samus passes under them, they cover themselves completely and plummet to the ground. They then flap their wings to get themselves back up. Though they can be downed with two Missiles to their wings, their body itself can go down in just a few shots from the regular Beam. -------------------------- Hard Core-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - These are altered Core-X's with barriers that are normally impervious to any weaponry. However, the barrier does occasionally open up like an eye on one side to eventually shoot a shot of the Beam it has mimicked. The eye-like opening can be shot with Missiles to damage the barrier here, just make sure to dodge as soon as the Missile hits, as it'll fire a Beam shot in retaliation. After enough hits, the barrier will be destroyed and Samus will be free to collect the X inside. -------------------------- Hornoad ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - An X Parasite has infested the body of a Hornoad, an amphibious creature with only two legs. Due to parasite infestation, mutations to its appearance has changed, sporting warts on its back and vicious teeth. It also has an added defense capability of spitting stomach acid at foes. -------------------------- Kago Hive ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A very sturdy hive for the very small Kago encountered in Zebes. X-Parasite infection has increased the sturdiness of these hives, making them practically invulnerable. If an X Parasite merges with a Kago Hive, it mutates the Hive, turning it into a writhing tower of...stuff. It can be frozen and used as a platform with this. -------------------------- Ki-Hunter ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Ki-Hunters are space pirates from another galaxy. Apparently grown from Zeros, they have three growth phases: larva (Zero), adolescent (grounded), adult (winged). They grow as you go through the game, and are found in Sector 2 and the Reactor Core area of the Main Deck. Their fast growth might be a result of X Parasite mutation. -------------------------- Menu ¯¯¯¯ - A small bug species that propagated on Zebes, and are now found in Sector 6 of B.S.L. X Parasite infection has increased their size and durability, though their flight speed is dramatically decreased, making them more of an obstacle than an annoyance. -------------------------- Mermen Pirate ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The result of an X with a Skultera's DNA merging with an X that has a Zebesian's DNA. This creature is basically a Zebesian with a mermaid-like tail that it uses to quickly swim around underwater. It also shoots round energy shots from its claws instead of thin laser-like shots. -------------------------- Metroid ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The creature that posed the ultimate threat to the universe. They were created by the Chozo as not only bio-weapons, but also to curb the X Parasite population that thrived on SR388. It wasn't until a few years later that the inter-galactic race called Space Pirates stole some from a Federation cruiser when the Metroids started becoming a serious threat. Samus was ordered to eradicate the Space Pirates and the entire Metroid race. Unknown to them though, that eradication of Metroids proved more harmful than good... -------------------------- Mimic ¯¯¯¯¯ - Mimics are weird X creatures that take the form of Missile Tanks or Energy Tanks. There are only two of these in the entire game, and one of each. Fear not though, where a Mimic is, there always is the real prize hidden in the same room. -------------------------- Moto ¯¯¯¯ - Motos on B.S.L have been infected with X. The Motos have very minor aesthetic differences, but they act pretty much the same. When these small rhino-like enemies see Samus, they start charging at her. Their masks are hard and can't be penetrated with Beams, yet Missiles do the job nicely. Their backside makes them vulnerable to Beam shots. -------------------------- Namihe ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - The possible adult version of the Fune. Virtually the same, these purple, two-eyed ones stay in walls and extend themselves out for a bite. Only real difference is that these are more durable, and their energy shots don't go exactly straight. -------------------------- Nova ¯¯¯¯ - Novas have remained relatively unchanged from X Parasite infection, though now, they leave trails of fire when crawling along the ground, as well as drop fire when they crawl on the ceiling. They're a bit more dangerous this time around. -------------------------- Owtch ¯¯¯¯¯ - Owtches are slug-like creatures with tri-spiked shells. Not very remarkable, but they indeed hurt. X Parasite infection has rendered them a bit less resistant to attacks than usual. -------------------------- Powamp ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - An underwater creature that is rather unusual. It has similar body structure to Phantoon, and only inflates itself when Samus nears, usually blocking a passage. These enemies serve only as obstacles that need to be frozen when deflated in order to progress. -------------------------- Puyo ¯¯¯¯ - A rather unique, putty-like creature. It extends and jumps long distances. X Parasite infection has given it spikes on top of it. -------------------------- Reo ¯¯¯ - Reos are a bug-like creature with wings and giant claws. X Parasite infection has drastically changed them. They now have a more threatening face, and don't always stay at the ceiling. In fact, they always fly around now, swooping in when Samus nears. -------------------------- Ripper ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Rippers have been infected by X, but surprisingly no mutations have occurred with this specimen. Quite possibly a perfect replication. Either way, Rippers serve mostly as obstacles. They fly at a slow speed left and right, only turning around when they hit a wall. They're pretty much just Ice Missile fodder to use as platforms. Other than that, they're invincible except against the Screw Attack. -------------------------- Sciser ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - X Parasites have infected Scisers. Aside from their usual bit of crawling around, they can now fire balls of some liquid from their claws. Other than that, these crab-like enemies don't seem to be much of a threat. Sometimes, gold Scisers can be found. These are Scisers that have much more resilience to attacks, and are only vulnerable to Charge shots or Missiles. -------------------------- Sidehopper ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This two-legged, bug-like creature makes its home in tropical regions...that is until the X Parasite infection changed its preferred habitat. They are now found in warm/hot climates, much like the normal Dessgeega. X mutation has given the Sidehopper a natural rocket boost to their feet, allowing them further jumping height and length. -------------------------- Skultera ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A vicious, fish-like creature of the sea. It swims toward Samus whenever it spots her. X-Parasite infection hasn't altered them that much, but two X-Parasites with Skultera DNA can merge into a larger version of a Skultera, which is more powerful, and has more resistance to attacks. It is also faster. -------------------------- Waver ¯¯¯¯¯ - The Waver has been infected with X, increasing its size and also giving it spiky wings. It also seems to charge directly towards Samus whenever it spots her, so be careful. -------------------------- X Parasite ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A dangerous parasitic organism. After Samus had destroyed the Metroid population on SR388, this species was able to freely and rapidly propagate. This gelatinous creature is able to absorb itself through a creature's skin and make its way through the blood stream and nervous system, and quickly multiply. If the host dies, it sometimes takes the DNA of a creature that the parasite has found useful before leaving the body, in search of another creature. X Parasites have been shown to have some sort of intelligence, relative to the creature it has infested. - There are multiple types of X Parasites. They come in many sizes and colors. For Samus, absorbing these Parasites and consuming them with her newfound Metroid DNA gives her various results, like energy or ammunition restores. Yellow X give energy, Green X give ammo, Red X give both energy and ammo at a fair amount, and Blue X can actually damage Samus, as they're cold. However, once you have the Varia Suit, they act as Red X's, but with even more energy and ammo restoration. -------------------------- Yameba ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A weird creature of unknown origins, yet it has been infected by X Parasites nonetheless. This small, ameba-like creature floats around in search of sustenance. When it finds prey, it tries to attach itself to the prey and sucks the life out of the prey, much like a leech. If more X Parasites with Yameba DNA merge with an X mimicking a Yameba, it grows exponentially in size, up to three times. -------------------------- Yard ¯¯¯¯ - The Yard, a Zebesian snail/crab species, has been transformed by the X Parasite. It now has a spiral shell similar to seashells, and it occasionally opens itself up to spit fireballs at a diagonal direction. The creature can only be killed with Charge shots. These are found in the coral reef section of Sector 4. -------------------------- Zebesian ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - For some reason, Zebesian Space Pirate specimens are also found on the B.S.L., and X Parasite infection has changed their look quite considerably. Their colors are more purpleish, and they appear to be more bird-like in appearance. They can either climb on walls or stand and shoot their claw lasers like usual. They're impervious to normal Beams, but can go down with Missiles. Until the Beam is upgraded, that is. - Sometimes there are Gold Zebesians. These are more resilient than normal Zebesians, and are actually only vulnerable on their backside against Charge shots or Missiles. -------------------------- Zeela ¯¯¯¯¯ - The Zeelas from Zebes are in Sector 5 of B.S.L. X Parasite mutation has given them "stalks" with which they fire energy balls that always shoot away and down to where they are, no matter what kind of surface they're climbing. -------------------------- Zombie Researcher ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Zombie Researchers are the gruesome result of an X Parasite who has acquired human DNA and DNA from a slime creature, turning itself into a lumbering, humanoid-shaped mess. Zombie Researchers are weak and go down with one basic shot. -------------------------- Zero ¯¯¯¯ - A worm-like creature originating from Zebes. Zeros are the larval stage of the Kihunter race. X Parasite infection has changed their color and added spikes for extra protection. Certain Zero-X have a rare variation: these bright blue Zeros have a harder shell and more resistance, which makes them hard to kill easily. Red X are usually behind these stronger Zeros. -------------------------- Zozoro ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A worm-like creature with a tentacle on its head, possibly a single eye-stalk. They crawl on floors, ceilings, and walls. Pretty much your standard Zoomer-type. They are found in Sector 6. \___________________________________/ \ /===================================\ / X| Bosses |X / \===================================/ \ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ -------------------------- Arachnus ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A Core-X has taken the DNA of an Arachnus and has been going on a rampage in the Main Deck. Arachnus-X can swipe to throw blue energy waves, can spit fire that spreads along the floor, and can roll into a ball and ram into walls. To dodge the fire, just hang from one of the ledges on the walls. If you're hanging on a wall and Arachnus-X rolls into the wall, you'll get knocked off, so be careful. Arachnus-X is a very simple boss, just shoot at it with either Beams or Missiles. Eventually it'll destroy and reveal its true Core-X form, which can be taken down in three Missiles. -------------------------- Zazabi ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A creature of unknown origin has been copied by a Core-X. This transparent-skinned, single-eyed, tower-shaped creature mainly jumps around in an attempt to stomp Samus. Occasionally it'll open its mouth cavity at its bottom and try to swallow Samus. If you do get swallowed, just Bomb yourself out. To damage Zazabi, shoot Missiles up through its opening to hit its eye. The more damage done, the shorter Zazabi gets, until eventually it gets killed. The Core-X inside takes four Missiles to take down its barrier. -------------------------- Serris ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This strange eel found in Sector 4 has the power to swim around at extremely fast speeds. As such, when it does, it is encased in energy that keeps itself invulnerable. When it isn't speeding around and flashing, Missiles to its head damage it. The best strategy is to stay on the platforms above water, occasionally jumping up to grab the handlebars when you think Serris may be heading straight for you. The Core-X inside takes five Missiles. -------------------------- B.O.X. ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - B.O.X. is a security robot created by the scientists at B.S.L. It is capable of deploying fire bombs that spread undulating fire towers from its explosion. Samus first encounters this robot in Sector 3 shortly after getting the Super Missile upgrade. B.O.X.'s only weakness is the tan-painted center, which can be attacked from above. After enough damage has been dealt to it (enough that its brain is somewhat exposed), it staggers away and blasts through the ceiling, leading Samus back out of Sector 3. - You get to face B.O.X. again, much later in the game. This time it's in Sector 6 in a semi-flooded room. Its damaged circuitry is exposed to the water, electrifying it. Usage of a Power Bomb reveals handlebars on the ceiling to allow you to hit its same weak spot with Missiles. This time, as you're lower to the ground, B.O.X. can use its body as a weapon. Not only that, it uses homing rockets to hit you, instead of fire bombs. Eventually, after B.O.X. takes enough damage, the robot body gets destroyed, and the brain inside it reveals itself as a Hard Core-X. Five or six Missiles to its eye when it opens will get it. -------------------------- Varia Core-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A Core-X has absorbed the data for the Varia Suit, and as such, has mutated and grown tremendously. This large, mutated Core-X is surrounded in protective smaller versions of itself, and only attacks by ramming into Samus. Here's the unique thing though: it's completely invulnerable to Missiles. You have to hit it with Charge Beam attacks. The protective orbs surrounding it can be permanently destroyed, so don't worry about them being regenerated back. Just hit whenever you can. Once it takes enough damage, it reverts to normal, leaving it vulnerable to six Missiles to break its barrier. -------------------------- Yakuza ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - This spider boss is faced at the Reactor Core in the Main Deck. This boss first attacks by breathing fire and crawling around. If it happens to crawl above Samus, it grabs her, causes constant damage for a few seconds, then rams her to the ground for even more damage. The way to damage Yakuza is to Missile its mouth when it opens for its fire-breathing attack. - After enough damage is done to it, its head explodes from its body, and then "Space Jumps" around the room with its mouth open, occasionally dropping parts of itself. Keep using Missiles to hit it at the mouth until it finally goes down, revealing the Core-X. Six Missiles can take it down. -------------------------- Nettori ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Nettori is the source of the vegetation choking the main silo, fought in Sector 2. At first, it can't attack, but rather lets the Samus Eaters and spore spawners attack for it. Kinda similar to Mother Brain. Shoot Missiles at Nettori while shooting away the spores, until Nettori's body breaks apart. It will then fire plasma shots out. You'll need to get to higher ground as the Samus Eaters will now spit out spores. After a few more Missiles, Nettori finally transforms into a Hard Core-X. Kill it by shooting Missiles at its open eye. -------------------------- Nightmare ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Nightmare is a bio-weapon created by the Federation, meant for military purposes. It is fought at Sector 5, and is infected by X. The first part of the battle is pretty simple. It floats around, mostly judging by your movements, and fires lasers from its arms periodically. It is invulnerable except for the spinning device under it, which is its gravity manipulator. After taking a bit of damage from shots there, it manipulates gravity, making it heavier. Thus, Missiles are ineffective and Samus can't jump around very much. Charge shots do the trick here. Once the gravity manipulator has taken enough damage, it'll get destroyed. - The next phase, Nightmare's mask has been destroyed, leaving its grotesque face. It is vulnerable here. Hit it with Missiles there as it slowly floats toward you. The closer you are to defeating Nightmare, the more its face droops. Every once in a while, Nightmare's face can't be reached. It will then start flying around to not only reposition itself but to also try to hit Samus. Be careful here, and maybe you can get a few shots in while it's flying to make it stop. After Nightmare itself is destroyed, the Core-X remains. Six Missiles. -------------------------- Ridley ¯¯¯¯¯¯ - A powerful X has taken the DNA of Ridley, somehow found in the large specimens freezer in the facility. You fight this mimicked and twisted version of Ridley in the lower parts of Sector 1 much later in the game. Fighting this Ridley is pretty much the same as any other Ridley: tank him and pump him full of Missiles. He can attack with his tail, spit fireballs, and grab Samus to damage her to his poisonous claws. If you get grabbed, shoot his face with Missiles until he drops you. After killing Ridley, the Core-X form appears, with six Missiles to kill it. In the meantime, try not to get hit too much from him, he hurts like hell. -------------------------- Samus Aran-X ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - You finally get to face the SA-X pretty much at the end of the game, in the Operations Deck. SA-X attacks like usual. Ice Beam, Missiles, etc. It may occasionally use the Screw Attack from time to time. If you try to get away by jumping during this, it'll attempt to chase you. So just run away from it. Only way to harm the SA-X is to use charged shots on it. Just keep hitting it, being vigilant of its attacks, and it'll be taken down. - And then the SA-X mutates. And it gets easier. All it does is just jump around like an idiot in an attempt to hit you. A few more charged shots, and it'll give up in its form, reverting to a Hard Core-X. Missile its eye when it opens, and destroy the barrier to finish off the boss. -------------------------- Omega Metroid ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - You'll have to fight this final boss during the escape sequence. Basically, at first, you're completely helpless to it. Get hit by its swipe to knock you into an immobile state and with almost all your energy gone. Then, the SA-X you just fought before will appear, trying to ward off the Omega Metroid to save itself. Unfortunately the Omega Metroid gets in a swipe and kills the SA-X. Absorb the X left behind. - Now that Samus has her normal DNA back and can use the Ice Beam, use said Beam to kill the crap out of the Omega Metroid. Remember to shoot at its torso. Also, the Omega Metroid still hurts, but not as much. (One Energy Tank per swipe, you still get immobilized temporarily.) _______________________________________________________________________________ O _________________________________________ O \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / \ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ / X--------------X L E G A L N O T I C E S X--------------X / \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \_________________________________________/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \ O O ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The words in this FAQ are copyrighted.
