For now, this will have to be a work in progress, as I am relatively new to the Medabots video games. The walkthrough portion of this guide is near completion... well, relative to the other sections. Game Basics will be top priority for now, and it won't take long to finish. Once done, the appendices will have full lists of Medals, Medaparts, and all their attributes. ================ * BACKGROUND * ================ For those of you who don't follow the anime, Medabots is all about building these robots, called "Medabots" obviously, and dueling them in what's called a Robattle. These battles can be played for fun or competitively, the latter of which the loser must forfeit a Medapart to the winner. Anyways, in this game, you are a youngster named "Ikki" (that's pronounced rather similarly to "Icky") who's absolutely fanatical about Medabots. So much in fact, that he frequently visits the local Medabots laboratory. This is where your story begins... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [[ W A L K T H R O U G H ]] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============= * THE LAB * ============= Explore around, though none of the scientists really tell you important info. If you go north into the back, Dr. Aki will be to your left. He'll ask you your name, then point you towards his daughter. She will be in the guarded room at the top of the room east of where you find Dr. Aki. ===================== * HOME SWEET HOME * ===================== Once you talk to her, that's pretty much it for the lab. When you leave the place, you quickly realize that it's almost time for your favorite TV show, Medabots Weekly. You'd better get home -- your house is the blue one all the way south from the lab's right door. The game will walk you through a conversation with your mom, then you can sit through this week's show of Medabots Weekly, which covers the different components of Medabots. Once that's over, your mom will give you some money and tell you to buy some food at the local store. It's the building between your house and the lab. When you enter, you overhear a conversation involving the stock boy. You'd better go talk to him and see what's up. Before you know it, he's dumped his Medabot on you and made it into a purchase. When you get home, your mom is upset, and for good reason. Now you're sent to your room, and stuck with a Medabot you didn't even want. Oh wells. Coincidentally, your father had just acquired a Medabots Medal today, just the thing that you need for your Medabot to work. Your dad even give you a Medawatch, officially making you a Medafighter. ======================= * TIME TO ROBATTLE! * ======================= Now that you have a working Medabot, why not go out and use it? But just as you take a step out the door, you see your good friend Erika. She presuades you into having your first Robattle! x--------------------x | ROBATTLE #0 | |--------------------| | Medafighter: Erika | | Field: Plain | | Medabot(s): | | - Brass | x--------------------x This isn't technically a Robattle, since Erika is only showing you the ropes. I don't really have any instruction -- it's a practice Robattle with no risks. Go nuts. Once you beat her (and you should be able to), Erika tells you about a Robattle contest at school. Let's go there and check it out! School is the big building in the center of town, but when you get there, the contest is already over. The winners are the three in the middle of the schoolyard. When you talk to their leader, Samantha, the group (named the Screws) challenges you to a series of Robattles! Unlike your previous one, take these seriously. If you lose, it's GAME OVER. x--------------------x | ROBATTLE #1 | |--------------------| | Medafighter: Sloan | | Field: Plain | | Medabot(s): | | - Totalizer | x--------------------x Totalizer has HUGE leg defense, and its lazer attacks aren't shabby either. Don't waste your precious Missile ammo on the legs. Start out with the SubMachineGun. If you get the Leg Defense down to around 30 or 40, begin using your head (literally, not figuratively) to cause massive damage. x--------------------x | ROBATTLE #2 | |--------------------| | Medafighter: Spyke | | Field: Plain | | Medabot(s): | | - CyanDog | x--------------------x This Medabot only uses the Rifle shot, so all you have to do in order to win is just deal more damage than you take. I did this pretty easily by constantly using the SubMachineGun. x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #3 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Samantha | | Field: Plain | | Medabot(s): | | - PepperCat | x-----------------------x Peppercat's attacks are annoying at most. I deactivated two of its parts before it even got one of mine. Though it can easily dodge your arms' attacks, its parts are especially vulnerable to your Missiles. Don't waste you time with anything else, just launch all your Missiles and that should do it. Despite being beaten, the Screws still have some fighting spirit. They decide for a rematch -- three of them against one of you. Luckily, Metabee somehow pulls off an amazing attack that defeats all of them. They retreat inside the school, and Erika suggests you go there, too. ============ * SCHOOL * ============ This is the first place where you can find roaming battles. These are what I call random battles that pop up when you walk around, unlike challenge battles where you have to talk to the person (or vice versa). I'll only cover chal- lenge battles in detail, since roaming battles are pretty easy. You should fight a few just for the experience and the spare parts (which you can sell). Actually, it's kinda hard to avoid getting into these Robattles when you're exploring the school and talking to people. They should be telling you about the rumor that's going around: there's a Medabot who's harassing the girls at school. Besides that, a handful of challenge Robattles await you in the school's rooms. The SalaryMan is in the music room, near the entrance. Robattle #4 can be found both on floor 1 and floor 2. Yes, they're identical. In fact, there's a roaming battle that's exactly like it, too. x-----------------------x------------------------x | ROBATTLE #4 | ROBATTLE #5 | |-----------------------|------------------------| | Medafighter: Boy | Metafighter: SalaryMan | | Field: Woods | Field: Woods | | Medabot(s): | Medabot(s): | | - Kintaro | - Tankar | | | - Tankar | x-----------------------x------------------------x Your first fight against multiple opponents... don't worry too much. These Tankars are push-overs. They're slow, which means they can't attack you often. Try to focus your fire on one Tankar, then the other. Once you're done with the first floor, you can talk to Erika on the second floor. She tells you that she's writing a story for the school paper, and that YOU should catch whoever's making their Medabot tickle girls. That's all for school. You can now exit the premises... =============== * STRANGERS * =============== ...but as soon as you step out, you hear a girl scream! It turns out that she's just surprised at seeing your dog, Salty. Her name is Karin, and she's quite polite. Anyways, the Abandoned Factory in the northwest corner of town looks pretty suspicious. Perhaps the tickling culprit is there? Just as you approach its doors, Erika shows up and mentions something going on at school. Back at school, there's a new Medafighter on the second floor. The new Medafighter on the second floor is named Koji, and you somehow get sucked in to battling him. Be prepared for a hard fight. x-------------------x | ROBATTLE #6 | |-------------------| | Metafighter: Koji | | Field: Woods | | Medabot(s): | | - Sumilidon | x-------------------x The type of battling Koji does shoulde be unfamiliar: he sets traps for you instead of attacking directly. This is hard to combat, seeing as how you activate them every time you attack, and they're powerful enough to break a Medapart in one hit. Basically, you have to deactivate him before getting hit 4 times. Once you do, the story behind these two are revealed. It seems Koji knows Karin somehow and came here looking for the mystery Medabot who tickled her. ================= * THE CULPRIT * ================= When you visit Erika's house (the pink striped one near yours), she'll have a plan to lure that tickling fiend out. So Erika dresses you up as a girl, and sure enough, the Medabot shows up to tickle you when you leave her house. Erika chases the culprit around for a while, but you finally end up at the Abandoned Factory. Inside awaits a Rubberobo Gang member, who promptly challenges you to a battle. x----------------------x | ROBATTLE #7 | |----------------------| | Metafighter: RR Gang | | Field: Woods | | Medabot(s): | | - Foxuno | x----------------------x By now, you should have the MetaForce technique "Ultra Shot". If not, just used the same strategies as described in previous Robattles. After beating him, you hear someone coming. While hiding the shame of being in drag, the good guys, the Select Corps, show up and take that RR Gang member away. Now that the mystery is solved, you'd better get back to Erika and get your pants. ============= * GHOST?? * ============= As soon as you do, Erika will tell you about something going on at school. She then leaves, so follow her to the school, second floor. She'll tell you that she's busy with her article, so just leave the building. But wait! In the schoolyard, the Screws are up to something. It seems a ghost has appeared at Mt. Odoro and is taking people's Medaparts. Now these three are trying to rally up some troops to challenge the ghost. The rest are afraid to go, so the Screws go without them. Erika then shows up and tells you to go, too. And you also get a new item from her -- a Town Map. ==================== * HOLY MEDAROLI! * ==================== Go back home. You should give your parents an excuse -- er, a REASON -- for why you'll be going to Mt. Odoro. Now you'll go upstairs, to prepare for the trip. Go to your bookcase and get your penlight -- i'll get dark up there, don't you know. Your dad will now show up and give you a lunch from your mom and another Tinpet from himself. You can't use it yet, at least not without another Medal. So where can you get another Medal? Why, the lab of course! Visit Dr. Aki's daughter and she'll let you get one of the following six Medals: Bat, Kappa, Mouse, Chameleon, Rabbit, and Monkey. Which one you take now should depend on your personal preference and the spare Medaparts you have. I chose the Mouse Medal, since compatible parts are readily available in the shop and it seems overall more useful than the ones that target a certain type of Medabot. If you want some practice battling with two Medabots, the school is open for those roaming battles. =============== * MT. ODORO * =============== The path to the north of town is now clear, so go up there. As soon as you do, Erika will be waiting for you -- with another Robattle! Make sure you save before this fight so you can reset the game if you lose. x--------------------x | ROBATTLE #8 | |--------------------| | Metafighter: Erika | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - Brass | | - Pretty Prime | x--------------------x The hard part about this Robattle is that Pretty Prime will draw all of your fire away from Brass, leaving it in tip-top condition to kick your Medabots' shiny metal butts. Its Counterattacks can also catch you off guard. Just keep your fingers crossed and battle to the best of your ability. Even if you lose, it won't mean the end of the world -- you have two Medabots now, so losing a Medapart won't mean GAME OVER. Anyway, Koji and Karin will show up after you're done with that. After Erika fills them in about the ghost, Koji decides they're going to defeat the ghost before you do. Now Erika tells you to go to Orodo Pond, which is to the right. Go all the way up, then to the right. There'll be a boy that challenges you when you walk past. It should be easy, what with the two-against-one thing and all. x------------------x | ROBATTLE #9 | |------------------| | Metafighter: Boy | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - Toybox | x------------------x As you walk further, a water taxi will show up and offer a ride to an island in the middle of the pond. Once you get there, there will be four treasure chests with a Medapart, exactly one pound (that's the currency here), and a ninja inside them. Then go back and continue searching for the ghost. Go around the pond and you'll find Koji and Karin, but no ghost. When you go back, Erika will suggest you go to the Odoro Marsh next. So what are we waiting for? ================================ * THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WET * ================================ Go back to the entrance to Mt. Odoro and you'll see a bridge to the left. A girl will be waiting on the other side, with a challenge battle. x-------------------x | ROBATTLE #10 | |-------------------| | Medafighter: Girl | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - ChurlyBear | | - Oceana | x-------------------x Oceana has moves that can heal, so bring your best. Continue on your way and you'll see the Select Corps. They're blocking the your way, so go into the house. Answer "yes" to the guy behind the desk and he'll Robattle you. x---------------------------x | ROBATTLE #11 | |---------------------------| | Medafighter: Select Corps | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - Attack-Tyrano | | - Air-Ptera | | - LandBrachio | x---------------------------x Then make your way back. A Rubberobo Gang member will show up. x----------------------x | ROBATTLE #12 | |----------------------| | Medafighter: RR Gang | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - MagdoSnake | | - Gorem | x----------------------x When you defeat him, you proceed to try and turn him in. However, things turn for the worse and you fall into the stream! ===================== * KANNIE'S LETTER * ===================== Before you know it, you black out and awaken in an old woman's house, wearing girl's clothes yet again. After talking to her, go explore out and around her house. Talk to all the Medabots out there, then go back and talk to the old woman. When you come out again, the path should be clear to the north. In this next region, you will see the waterfall you came down, a bridge to the right, and a challenge Robattle from a sea Medabot. x--------------------------x | ROBATTLE #13 | |--------------------------| | Medafighter: Sea Medabot | | Field: Seashore | | Medabot(s): | | - FlatStick | x--------------------------x Proceed across the bridge. A water taxi should be there, the same one from before, in fact. He'll inform you that the Rubberobos are in this area, too. Continue south and you will see a Medabot who is searching for the old woman's lost letter. Keep going and you'll come to two paths divided by some bushes. Take the right one to arrive at the scene of the Rubberobos talking to a sea Medabot (you'll eat your lunch before entering, though). They, of course, challenge you to a Robattle. x----------------------x | ROBATTLE #14 | |----------------------| | Medafighter: RR Gang | | Field: Seashore | | Medabot(s): | | - FlatStick | | - Haniwa | x----------------------x Even when you defeat them, the crooks call reinforcements and gang up on you. Fortunately, the Phantom Renegade shows up and scare them all away. Now pick up the letter in the corner and talk to the Medabot you saved. He's gracious enough to give you a ride back to the old woman, where you can give the letter to her Medabot. Talk to her now, and she'll tell you about the ghost. It turns out to be just a Medabot named Yanagi. ========================================== * TINPETS AND MEDALS AND PARTS, OH MY! * ========================================== The old woman, Kannie, will now let you have a coice of two parting gifts. In the small box is one pound and a male Tinpet, and in the big box is one pound, a female tinpet, and a set of female Medaparts. Choose the big box if you prefer the greater net value, choose the small box if you're a fan of convenience. When you go out, you can now hitch a ride on Kannie's Medabot. He takes you back to where you were before, and you quickly think to tell Erika that you're okay. However, she's nowhere in sight... but Karin is, though. x--------------------x | ROBATTLE #16 | |--------------------| | Medafighter: Karin | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - NeutraNurse | | - SailorMate | x--------------------x Unlike other Robattles, this one is actually optional. I recommend fighting her anyway, just for the heck of it. Not only do you win a Medapart from the Robattle, but she gives you another one after you beat her! Now you should get a Medal for that Tinpet. When you cross the bridge to your right, there will be a narrow path down to another bridge. This area has three challenge battles, all alike. x---------------------x | ROBATTLE #17 | |---------------------| | Medafighter: Hermit | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - Dragonfly | | - NoctoBat | x---------------------x Now go all the way to the southwest corner, where there should be nook in the cliff face. There you will find another ninja borther, and he'll give you a "Bear" medal. Now with three functional Medabots, go back to the area where Karin is. To the west of her is a sign about the water taxi. If you read it, one will come. Take it to Odoro Marsh. ================= * ODORO MARSH * ================= In the room to your north will be a treasure chest with the Medapart "Battle Rifle" in it. Sloan will be guarding the entrance to the room east. x---------------------x | ROBATTLE #18 | |---------------------| | Medafighter: Sloan | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - Totalizer | | - FireFlash | x---------------------x After you beat him, he'll set up some rocks to block your path. You'll need to equip certain Medaparts in order to break them. The first requires Battle Rifle (l.arm), the second needs PsychoMissile (head), and HeavyWeighter (r.arm) is necessary for the last one. When you go downstairs, Sloan will be there still. He'll challenge you, again (see above). After beating him, go to the room to the northeast. It's full of broken Medaparts, but the middle pile looks somewhat fixable. PIck it up. Now make your way west and south to a treasure chest with 10 pounds in it. Continue on your way and Spyke will be there. A Robattle results when he starts making fun of your cross-dressing. x---------------------x | ROBATTLE #19 | |---------------------| | Medafighter: Spyke | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - CyanDog | | - MantaPrey | x---------------------x Like Sloan, he'll run away when he gets beaten. Now further ahead is a water maze of some sort (really easy). Keep going north. As expected, Samantha is there. However, she doesn't want to fight, and goes off peacefully. Strange. ============= * GHOST!! * ============= Now proceed up the stairs. You're in another room with broken Medaparts, and like before, there's a pile that's fixable. Keep going. Go around the turn- around. When you reach the entrance to the inner cave, the "ghost" will appear, and so does Koji. You defend the ghost, and Koji starts making fun of your cross-dressing... x---------------------x | ROBATTLE #20 | |---------------------| | Medafighter: Koji | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - Sumilidon | | - RockFlower | x---------------------x When you're done with that, some Rubberobos arrive, too. There is inevitably some Robattles, with Koji taking on the two grunts and you pitted against their leader. x------------------------x | ROBATTLE #21 | |------------------------| | Medafighter: SquidGuts | | Field: Rock | | Medabot(s): | | - DashButton | | - Giggly Jelly | x------------------------x This will be a hard battle. Dashbutton has HUGE defense. I won by setting the timer to its lowest value, then using Metabee's "Ultra Shot" to destroy its partner, Giggly Jelly. When the time ran it, the victory went to me. After you win, you'll gain the Spider medal and some cool new Medaparts. The Rubbers then burn rubber and run away. Next, the Phantom Renegade shows up and promises to take Yanagi back, and Koji runs after him. You should go into the cave to your north, where you can get two more of the items "Broken Medapart". When you try to leave, the Select Corps shows up. While in hiding for shame of being in drag, you hear that they will clean it all up, and take the credit. Deja vu, anyone? When leaving to the west, you will change back to your normal clothes. Outside, Erika will be waiting for you, and Koji and Karin will be at the Mt. Odoro entrance. Now that everything's wrapped up nicely, it's time to go home. ================ * VERSION UP * ================ At the lab, Dr. Aki will take the broken parts and try to fix them. He'll also tell you about the recently released Medawatches, which have the same Medaforce functions as yours. While you're there, his daughter will have another Medal for you. When you exit the lab, Erika will show you her new upgraded Medawatch. Then she'll puzzle over why YOU have one before she did. Meanwhile, at Rubberobo headqarters, a shift in the balance of power has begun. With Squidguts' failure, the Rubberobo boss turns things over to Shrimplips, who decides to recruit children for the Rubberobo Gang. You should now take the time to sell off all your duplicate parts. The money will come in handy. When you get to your house, you'll get a letter inviting you Medabot Island, a large amusement park about Medabots (it's on an island). Ask your parents for permission to go. Since they're too busy to take you, see if Erika is going. After that, ask your parents again. They still refuse? Well, it never hurts to dream. Go to the dock, at the southwest corner of Riverview City. When you try to board, Erika and her mom will show up and give you a ticket. It's odd how everything in a video game all works out perfectly... ==================== * MEDABOT ISLAND * ==================== You'll now be on the ship's stern (I think that's what it's called), and Erika will have a little conversation with you when you try to leave. Then you all arrive at the Island. Upon first entering, things will be a bit confusing. The park is divided into three main sections. The center section has 4 buildings, one in each corner. The west and east sections both have two buildings each. It will be pretty uninteresting all around, and the roaming battles get annoying. Your desti- nation should be the Tournament Hall, the top building in the west section. Inside is where they are holding the Medabot Island's robattling tournament, and you're just in time to participate in the B Block. Talk to the lady at the counter. Then proceed through the door to the far right, which leads to a sort of lounge, where you will find a Medafighter who will trade Medaparts: a "Spreader" for his "Head Shutter". ==================== * INSANE BATTLES * ==================== Enter the tournament area through the door to the far left (of the main room). I suggest you save your game before proceeding. A guy at the next door will ask you if you're ready. Say yes so that the insanity can commence. :) x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #22 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Erika | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - Brass | | - Pretty Prime | | - Pretty Prime | x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #23 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Karin | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - NeutraNurse | | - SailorMate | | - Draken | x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #24 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Sloan | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - Totalizer | | - FireFlash | | - FireFlash | x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #25 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Spyke | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - CyanDog | | - MantaPrey | | - MantaPrey | x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #26 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Samantha | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - PepperCat | | - RedLace | | - RedLace | x-----------------------x After winning those 5 rounds, you'll become the finalist for B Block. Exit the arena area and go back to the main room. Go through the left door next to the front counter. You will meet Erika, and you two will be introduced to Dr. Armond. ========================= * DAMSELS IN DISTRESS * ========================= When leaving the building, you will witness a Rubberobo Gang member stealing from a girl. Sure enough, you the hero must claim it back. However, when you exit the West section of the park, a somewhat rude Medafighter challenges you out of nowhere. x-----------------------x | ROBATTLE #27 | |-----------------------| | Medafighter: Tequonic | | Field: Wilderness | | Medabot(s): | | - Sabotina | | - Sabotina | | - Sabotina | x-----------------------x The Select Crops. will take him away, then block your path since the parade is coming. Proceed down the alley left of the diner place, and the Rubberobo thief will reveal himself. However, he quickly flees, so keep going towards the bottom building of the West section of the park (where the MedaCoaster ride is located). Confront him, and you get a Robattle. x------------------------x | ROBATTLE #28 | |------------------------| | Medafighter: Rubberobo | | Field: Street | | Medabot(s): | | - Magiclown | | - Gorem | x------------------------x After that, the Rubberobo will once again run away from you. Even though there's no exit over there, go follow him anyway. You will be stopped by Koji, who then shows up. With him, you investigate the area over there and discover more Rubberobos hidding in some planters. The Phantom Renegade scares them away, and you get to return a Medal to the girl in front of the Tournament Hall. She'll be so grateful that she rewards you with a Medapart. Unfortu- nately, Erika is now angry at you for blowing her off... ================ * BOMBS AWAY * ================ Make your way to the arcade, where Erika mentioned she'd be after the parade. When you talk to her, she'll say that she won't talk to you until you play (and win) the arcade game "Protect the Select Corps. HQ". This is the second machine in the second row of arcade machines. Just talk to the guy that's there to make him leave. I must warn you that this game is actually a bit on the difficult side. Save before playing, just so you can reset and save some money (it costs a pound to play). The game is very simple, though. A Rubberobo Gang member is throwing bombs down at the Select Corps HQ. You, using oversized gloves, must DEFLECT these bombs by using the L and R buttons on your GBA. These bombs drop down in one of three lanes. L moves you to the left, R to the right, and press nothing to stay in the middle. The rubberobo has 50 bombs to begin with, and you must deflect them all to win the game. However, for each bomb that hits the HQ, the guy gets 10 additional bombs. You have only 3 lives, so work carefully. My first tip is not to panic, especially since he drops the bombs faster as the game progresses. Try to keep your gaze near the bottom, instead of at the top. This game will undoubtedly take multiple tries (unless you can get really good really fast). If you run out of money (however unlikely), you can sell your spare parts at the shop. When you win (so Erika will talk to you), don't think that's the last of it. Each victory afterwards will earn you a Rubberobo medal, for when you just don't feel like fighting roaming battles. ==================== * THE FINAL HEAT * ==================== After making up with Erika, she'll tell you that things are picking up at the Tournament Hall. Enter through the locker room, where you will find your opponents for the final rounds. x-------------------------x | ROBATTLE #29 | |-------------------------| | Medafighter: Kir | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - RedMatador | | - RedMatador | | - RedMatador | x-------------------------x | ROBATTLE #30 | |-------------------------| | Medafighter: Shandy | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - KingPharaoh | | - KingPharaoh | | - KingPharaoh | x-------------------------x | ROBATTLE #30 | |-------------------------| | Medafighter: Spumoni | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - AuroraQueen | | - AuroraQueen | | - AuroraQueen | x-------------------------x | ROBATTLE #31 | |-------------------------| | Medafighter: Joe Swihan | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - WigWamo | | - WigWamo | | - WigWamo | x-------------------------x | ROBATTLE #32 | |-------------------------| | Medafighter: Tequonic | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - Sabotina | | - Sabotina | | - Sabotina | x-------------------------x When you talk to them in the locker room, they'll all give a weird foreign version of (E-rating approved) trash talk: I'm going to win, you're going to lose, blah blah blah. Well, almost all of them. Tequonic will actually battle you in the locker room before battling you for real. Out of all these Meda- Fighters, the only one I found remotely challenging was Shandy. ================= * CHAMPION... * ================= Now that you've gone through the international competitors, only one person and one Robattle stands between you and ultimate victory. Surprise, surprise: it's Koji. x-------------------x | ROBATTLE #33 | |-------------------| | Medafighter: Koji | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - Sumilidon | | - RockFlower | | - RockFlower | x-------------------x Once you win it all, the referee will give you your prizes: a full set of Sabotina Medaparts and a Mermaid medal. Exit through the locker room to find Dr. Armond in the main lounge. He'll promptly challenge you to a Robattle. x------------------------x | ROBATTLE #34 | |------------------------| | Medafighter: Dr.Armond | | Field: Inside | | Medabot(s): | | - Bayonet | | - Zorin | | - Zorin | x------------------------x After being beaten, the good doctor will ask you if you want to be his assis- tant. Yes or no, he leaves anyway (and doesn't make you his assistant). Erika will be waiting outside. To make up to her, you're supposed to take her some- where fun... ============== * AND HERO * ============== ...and the Medacoaster "Spirit" is just the place! You've been there before; it's the building directly south of the Tournament Hall. Once inside, ride the coaster all you want (though it's pretty uninteresting). When you leave, Erika will say she saw a flash when you rode. The kids around the building will inform you that a Rubberobo is selling pictures of people. Now you have to confront him in the bushes to the left of the building. Like the coward he is, the Rubberobo runs away... but not before enclosing some info. You and Erika decide to investigate. Head over to the Witch's Castle, in the northerly section of the park. There you'll find Karin, who goes in for the tour. You decide to follow her, but other people get there first. She decides to wait in line, in exchange for you buying her a drink with the three pounds she'll give you. The Drink Stand is in the northeast corner of the park's central area. You have a choice of buying 2 Orange Juices, a Lemon Pack, or a Deluxe Oil. It doesn't matter which one you pick, but you can only pick one. I'll later investigate what difference these items will make. - - - - - - - - (to be continued) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [[ G A M E B A S I C S ]] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============== * CONTROLS * ============== x------------x------------x--------------x-----------------x | | World Map | Menu | Battle | |------------|------------|--------------|-----------------| | ControlPad | moves Ikki | moves cursor | moves selection | | Button A | talk, look | select | select | | Button B | enter menu | exit | deselect | | Button L | nothing* | nothing* | nothing* | | Button R | nothing* | nothing* | nothing* | | Start | nothing* | nothing* | nothing* | | Select | nothing* | nothing* | nothing* | x------------x------------x--------------x-----------------x * = This isn't necessarily true all of the time. They will have functions in certain parts of the game, but it'll tell you when you'll need them. For example, the arcade game is played with buttons L and R. ============== * MEDABOTS * ============== There are 6 main parts to a Medabot: the tinpet, the legs, the right arm, the left arm, the head, and the Medal. The tinpet is basically the skeleton on which the 5 other parts are placed. Its only attribute is gender. ---------- + Legs + ---------- The legs are what the Medabot uses to move around. It cannot be used for attacking, but it controls factors related to attacking. Having your legs deactivated means the Medabot will move significantly slower. Gender: a Medapart can only be equipped on a tinpet with a matching gender. Attribute: determines whether it gets a bonus from a matching Medal. Mark Type: determines which field it's best on. Armor: amount of damage it can take before deactivating. (aka "HP") Propulsion: how fast the legs go, and how long it takes to clear a trap. Evasion: ability to avoid an attack. Defense: ability to defend against an attack. Proximity: influences Medaparts with functions that are close-ranged. Remoteness: influences Medaparts with functions that are long-ranged. ---------- + Arms + ---------- The arms are your main sources of inflicting damage, and if destroyed, the weapon on the arm can no longer be used for the duration of the Robattle. Gender: a Medapart can only be equipped on a tinpet with a matching gender. Attribute: determines whether it gets a bonus from a matching Medal. Function: how the Medapart attacks, or how it helps teammates. Range: decides whether the part depends on Proximity or Remoteness. Armor: amount of damage it can take before deactivating. (aka "HP") Rate of Success: its chance of successfully attacking/supporting/etc. Power: potentially how much damage can be inflicted. Charge: see section III-C2. Radiation: see section III-C2. ---------- + Head + ---------- The head Medapart can also attack, but it has a restricted amount of times the weapon can be used. The head is also the part which decides whether the Medabot's function is ceased, since that's where the Medal is located. Amount of Uses: how many times you can use it to attack. ----------- + Medal + ----------- The Medal is basically a Medabot's core essence. The Medal is where experience is gathered, where MedaForce comes from, and so on and so forth. Type: what kind of Medal it is. Name: what you call your Medal. Level: number that reflects how experienced the Medal is. Attribute: determines whether matching Medaparts get a bonus. Compatibility: the "bonus" Medaparts receive if it matches the Attribute. Aim: Medaparts targeted by this Medal. Skill: the ability/attack which can be invoked after gathering enough MF Consumption: how much MF is needed to invoke the skill ================ * ROBATTLING * ================ This is basically the core essence of gameplay, and yet it's the most confusing part. Here in this section is where I'll elaborate on what's going on. ------------------- + Intro Screens + ------------------- After being challenged (or challenging someone yourself), you're brought to a ready screen. It lets you see your opponent, his/her Medabots, and the field you'll be Robattling on. If you have a Rubberobo Medal, you can press "Start" now in order to flee the Robattle. Then you're brought to a Medabot-select screen. This is where you pick which Medabots you use for the Robattle. The first one you pick will be the leader, the second will be Partner 1, and the third is Partner 2. It usually doesn't matter who's Partner 1 and Partner 2, but consider your choice of leader care- fully. If this lead Medabot's function is ceased, --------------- + Mechanics + --------------- Once in battle, your screen will look somewhat like this... (important components are labeled A - F) ______________________________________ | __ | | _ | | _ | | |_| | | |_| | | _ | | _ | | |_| | | |_| | | _ | | _ | | |_| E F| | |_| | | _____________ |__| | |I C I __ | |I_____________I / \ ___________ | | __D__________ | A | I B I | |'-------------' \__/ I___________I | |______________________________________| Item "A" is all you have control over. That's your Medawatch and what you'll be using to give orders to your Medabots. There will be a rotating menu of six color-coded sub-menus (not shown), each with battle options for you. Item "B" is a description box, giving the name and/or information for the menu item you're on. Item "C" gives the name of the Medabot you're giving a command for, and item "D" is its MedaForce (MF) Meter. More on MedaForce later. Location "E" is where your Medabots start (a lighted panel) and where your commands are sent. Location "F" is where your Medabots go to execute that command (when they reach the metal bar in the middle, or as I like to call it, the "midbar"). The time it takes for the Medabot to go from E to F is called "Charge", and the time it takes to go back from F to E is called "Radiation". Charge (CRG) and Radiation (RAD) will differ depending on what action you want the Medabots to take. All of this is true for your opponent also, except (s)he is on the other side of the midbar. ----------- + Goals + ----------- The object of a Robattle match is to win against your opponent. This can be accomplished one of two ways: - ceasing function of the lead Medabot - having less damage when the timer runs out ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [[ A P P E N D I C E S ]] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============ * MEDALS * ============ = Kabuto = Level 10: Ultra Shot Level 30: Damage Ball = Mouse = Level 10: Spy Game = Bear = Level 10: Gravity Form ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [[ M I S C E L L A N E O U S ]] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========================= * CONTACT INFORMATION * ========================= If you feel the need to tell me I should correct or add something to this guide, by all means go ahead.
