----------------------------------------- Mario Golf: Advance Tour Secrets Guide v1.1 (August 1st, 2004) By Yoshi348 (Aaron Davidson) Yoshi(underscore)348(at)sbcglobal(dot)net ----------------------------------------- ############### VERSION HISTORY ############### 1.1 (August 1st, 2004) - Added a currently unconfirmed easter egg. Also clarified how to get Kid's Custom Ticket, and added the location of the other Custom Ticket A. All of this is made possible by my readers, so keep it coming! 1.0 (July 10th, 2004) - First version. ################# PRELIMINARY NOTES ################# - Toadstool Tour (the Gamecube game) may be abbreviated to TT whenever I need more room on a line (or whenever I'm feeling lazy). - When I refer to Birdie Badges from Toadstool Tour, ONLY the regular tournaments count! Star tournaments will not give you any help! ########### THE SECRETS ########### ---Easter Egg--- "Grawl" tells me that when you're selecting your character at the very beginning, holding down left or right to make the cursor move back and forth really fast will get Toad (who's running around following your cursor) to say various funny comments. *I've been unable to confirm this, as I really don't want to bother deleting my saved data and losing my character to do so.* ---Mushroom Course--- To unlock the Mushroom course in all modes, you'll need to beat (place in?) the Links Tourney. In story mode, you'll only be able to go there with your partner if you beat the Links on Doubles, and you'll only be able to go alone if you beat the Links on Singles. No such restrictions apply in other modes, of course. ---Modes--- Star Tourneys (Quick Play): Beat the Mushroom Tourney in Singles or Doubles for the respective Singles or Doubles Star Tourney. Same as in Toadstool Tour (better opponents, tourney greens), but using the Star courses. ---Characters--- * Champs Each champion human character is earned by beating them at either a Singles or Doubles match game. * Star Mode To get Star Mode on each of the four original Mario golfers, defeat them in a character battle under Quick Play mode. Star Mode gives them a vastly increased power, at the cost of a bit of impact. * Game Link Characters (All come with Star Mode) Luigi: Get XP back from Toadstool Tour. Waluigi: Link to a TT game that has at least 27 Birdie Badges. Wario: Link to a TT game that has at least 54 Birdie Badges. Bowser: Link to a TT game that has at least 81 Birdie Badges. ---Star Courses--- Note 1: You can play on a star course as soon as you have at least one hole from it, but only the holes you have unlocked will actually be star holes. Holes you haven't unlocked will be loaded from the regular course. Note 2: It's possible that the awards are somewhat randomized; still, there's patterns involved, and it'll be the same set of goals for you to accomplish. Note 3: When going for the TT character match awards, star mode is irrelevant. -Marion- 1 - Gain XP from anything but linking to Toadstool Tour 2 - Link to Toadstool Tour 3 - Clear the minigame at the Marion Iron-shot Driving Range 4 - Beat Peach in a TT character match with one of your characters 5 - Clear the minigame at the Palms Putting Green on Easy 6 - Beat Diddy in a TT character match with one of your characters 7 - Score -10 or better on the Marion Doubles Tourney 8 - Clear the Ring Shot holes on the 1st course with one of your characters 9 - Get 3rd or better in Marion Doubles Tourney 10 - Beat Birdo in a TT character match with one of your characters 11 - Clear the minigame at the Links Driving Range 12 - Beat Wario in a TT character match with one of your characters 13 - Get 3rd or better in the Mushroom Doubles Tourney 14 - Beat Bowser in a TT character match with one of your characters 15 - Score -14 or better in the Marion Singles Tourney 16 - Beat Mario in a TT character match with one of your characters 17 - Get 3rd or better in the Marion Singles Tourney 18 - Win the Lakitu Cup on Toadstool Tour with one of your characters -Palms- 1 - Clear the minigame at the Marion Driving Range 2 - Beat Koopa Troopa in a TT character match with one of your characters 3 - Clear the Backspin Approach minigame at the Marion Approach-shot Range 4 - Beat Luigi in a TT character match with one of your characters 5 - Clear the minigame at the Dunes Driving Range on Easy 6 - Beat Yoshi in a TT character match with one of your characters 7 - Score -9 or better on the Palms Doubles Tourney 8 - Clear the Ring Shot holes on the 2nd course with one of your characters 9 - Get 3rd or better in Palms Doubles Tourney 10 - Beat Waluigi in a TT character match with one of your characters 11 - Clear the minigame at the Links Approach-shot Range on Easy 12 - Beat Daisy in a TT character match with one of your characters 13 - Score -10 or better on the Mushroom Singles Tourney 14 - Beat DK in a TT character match with one of your characters 15 - Score -13 or better in the Palms Singles Tourney 16 - Clear the Ring Shot holes on the 5th course with one of your characters 17 - Get 3rd or better in Palms Singles Tourney 18 - Win the Cheep Cheep Tournament on TT with one of your characters -Dunes- 1 - Clear the Running-approach minigame at the Marion Approach-shot Range 2 - Link to a TT game that has at least 9 Birdie Badges 3 - Clear the minigame at the Palms Driving Range 4 - Link to a TT game that has at least 18 Birdie Badges 5 - Clear the minigame at the Dunes Approach-shot Range 6 - Link to a TT game that has at least 36 Birdie Badges 7 - Score -8 or better on the Dunes Doubles Tourney 8 - Clear the Ring Shot holes on the 3rd course with one of your characters 9 - Get 3rd or better in the Dunes Double Cup 10 - Link to a TT game that has at least 45 Birdie Badges 11 - Clear the minigame at the Links Putting Green 12 - Link to a TT game that has at least 63 Birdie Badges 13 - Score -6 or better on the Mushroom Doubles Tourney 14 - Link to a TT game that has at least 90 Birdie Badges 15 - Score -12 or better on the Dunes Singles Tourney 16 - Link to a TT game that has at least 72 Birdie Badges 17 - Get 3rd or better in the Dunes Singles Tourney 18 - Win the Sands Classic on Toadstool Tour with one of your characters -Links- 1 - Clear the minigame at the Marion Putting Green 2 - Clear the TT Shot Practice on easy with one of your characters 3 - Clear the minigame at the Palms Approach Range 4 - Clear the TT Approach Practice on easy with one of your characters 5 - Clear the minigame at the Dunes Putting Green 6 - Clear the TT Putting Practice on easy with one of your characters 7 - Score -7 or better on the Links Doubles Tourney 8 - Clear the Ring Shot holes on the 4th course with one of your characters 9 - Get 3rd or better in the Links Doubles Tourney 10 - Clear the TT Shot Practice on normal with one of your characters 11 - Get 3rd or better in the Mushroom Singles Tourney 12 - Clear the TT Approach Practice on normal with one of your characters 13 - Get 90 Birdie Badges 14 - Clear the TT Putting Practice on normal with one of your characters 15 - Score -11 or better on the Links Singles Tourney 16 - Win the Peach Invitational on Toadstool Tour with one of your characters 17 - Get 3rd or better in the Links Singles Tourney 18 - Win the Blooper Open on Toadstool Tour with one of your characters ---Club Tickets--- NOTE: These are where the tickets were in my game. Depending on the order in which you complete certain events, the games on the Practice Grounds where you whack enemies with your ball may give you either drinks or tickets. No matter what order you do things, you will end up with the same amount of tickets. If you don't have a ticket and you've done what I've said, try doing some of the things listed below under "Hidden Items" that give you drinks. Ticket A: * In the drawers in the custom club shop. * Clear all three difficulties at the One-Club challenge. Ticket B: * Go to the Palms Practice Grounds. Head towards the putting green, but walk on the path on the right around it. You'll go down a ladder and to a beach with a sign. Read the sign, and a Blooper will appear. Practice nearby and whack him, and he'll run to the left side of the grounds. Get there by the path in the lower right of the grounds, and nail him again. The ticket will float to the beach in front of you. * Clear all three difficulties at the Next Gen Epoch Golf Mini-Park. Ticket C: * Head to the upper right corner of the Dunes Practice Grounds; there should be a sign warning about Pokeys. When you head down the stairs to the desert area, a Pokey will pop up and move to the left. Hit it with the ball, follow it, hit it again, follow it, and hit it again. Then grab the ticket. * Defeat the Coo-Coo Course. Ticket D: Talk to Kid (at the Links Practice Grounds) after clearing the Mushroom Course. (3rd or better, or only 1st? Singles or Doubles?) ---Hidden Items--- -Marion Clubhouse- * Check the barrel at the front yard of the castle, next to the door on the left. (Power Drink, +2y drive) * Go to the practice grounds, and head to the upper left corner. There'll be a path covered in rough, and a sign warning about Klepto. Head through and you'll find Klepto carrying a Koopa shell across a pond from you. Press A to start practice, and whack Klepto with the ball. (Make sure you get the obstacle "x" marker. If you're low on power, it might takes some finagling with the impact marker. You'll be hitting from the rough.) The Koopa shell has a Koopa Troopa inside, he'll swim over and give you a Power Drink as thanks. (Power Drink, +2y drive) * Go into the Memorial Records room after beating all the Memorial Scores (singles and doubles). (Hyper Drink, +5y drive) -Overworld- * Examine the big tree at the north side of the world. (1-Up Mushroom, +1 level) -Lucky Country- * Beat all four courses. (Muscle Drink, +4y drive) -Go-Go Gates Forest- * Beat all four courses. (Muscle Drink, +4y drive) -Coo-Coo Course- * Examine the barrel behind the cabin. (Super Drink, +3y drive) -Links Practice Grounds- * Head to the upper right corner of the Links Practice Grounds; there should be a sign warning about Monty Moles. Head up to find a mole, and whack him. Follow him (you'll have to take the route between the Driving and Approach Ranges) and give him another (you'll have to shoot from heath here.. yikes). Repeat (this time take the route that starts at the bottom left of the grounds, the shot will be from "only" normal rough) and grab the item he leaves behind. (Super Drink, +3y drive) -Peach's Castle- * Check the barrel in the upper right. (1-Up Mushroom, +1 level) -TT Link 1-Up Mushrooms- NOTE: Each mushroom can only be obtained once. * Defeat the Bowser Championship with one of your characters. * Defeat any of the three original Side Games with one of you characters. (1 each) * Defeat any of the secret characters in a character match with one of your characters. (1 each; star mode is irrelevant) ############ CONTRIBUTORS ############ - "Codehunter Josh" told me where to find the second Ticket A. - "Gaming Freak" partially clarified how to get Kid to hand over Ticket D. - Arjen Voogt AKA "Grawl" informed me about the easter egg. - Finally, I'd like to thank the message boards and the secrets section for giving me ideas on some of the star holes. ####### CONTACT ####### You may contact me about the FAQ at Yoshi(underscore)348(at)sbcglobal(dot)net.
