INTRODUCTION \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Hey everybody, McVeigh's the handle, welcome to my very first FAQ/Walkthrough for Factory Panic on the Sega Game Gear. Having been a fan of video games since I was five years old, not to mention a fan of...shall we say...extra help(*cough*cheating*cough*) which can be found in guides such as this, I thought I'd give it a go myself. Hope u like! ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// 2. STORY ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I'll use a quote from the now defunct British magazine Sega Power, because they sum up the story better than the manual itself. "Oh dear, the scenario writer for this game must have had a bad week. Apparently Mr I.M. Greede has bought up all the factories in Segaville. Not only that, he's taking all the good products for himself and handing out the rejects too. Good grief! Even Nobber (The nickname of the magazine's graphic designer) could have come up with a better story than that..." The above quote was taken from the February 1992 issue of Sega Power, page 53. Sega Power is Copryright 1992 - 2005 Future Publishing. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3. CONTROLS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The directional pad controls your character. Duh! Button 1 picks up and puts down bridges in bridge mode. Button 2 makes you use your scream attack. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ 4. HOW TO PLAY @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Factory Panic consists of four rounds, each consisting of eight stages. Rounds one and three are in 'switch mode'. In this mode, your character can stand on switches to control the path of the conveyor belts. Weights can be found in round three, and can be pushed onto switches to keep them down. Rounds two and four are in 'bridge mode'. In this mode, your character can move bridges to change the path of the conveyor belts. Each stage has a time limit of 999 seconds. Each time a wrong item is delivered, 100 seconds is deducted. Each time you die, the time limit resets to 999. You die by running into a guard, getting hit by a bullet, or running out of time. There are items which can be picked up off conveyor belts. The megaphone makes your scream attack more powerful, the clock adds 100 seconds to the timer, and the gituar makes the guards dance for a while. Apparently there are also stars which give you an extra life, but I've never seen them. As far as I know, the only way to get an extra life is by earning 100,000 points. In terms of who needs what; the lady needs meat, the little boy needs a Game Gear (nothing like in-game advertising), the old man needs bread, and the sick guy needs medicine. Now for the bad guys. There's a big fat purple dude who eats the food items, a guy with a bat, a huge guy with a gun, and a gray guy with a gun which can fire in three directions simultaneously. Using your scream attack on the guards as often as possible goes without saying, but I'll make a note of it for the more dangerous ones. ################################################################################# 5. WALKTHROUGH ################################################################################# In the walkthrough, I will list what goes to who, and how to achieve this goal. --------------------- Round 1 - Switch mode --------------------- Stage 1 Meat to lady x3 A nice and easy stage. Stand on the switch when the meat goes near the junction closest to the ladies. Stage 2 Game Gear to boy x3 Even easier. The red switch sends items to the boys, and the yellow switch sends items to the reject bin. You may want to practice using the yellow switch, because only four items at a time are on the belts, and you will need to get rid of the duds in later levels. Stage 3 Bread to old man x3 The red switch ensures that both junctions send items to the old men. If you need to send an item to the reject bin, stand on the switch until it sends an item through the first junction only. Stage 4 Medicine to sick guy x3 Here, the items go in a loop until you stand on a yellow switch. After that, they will go to the reject bin until you stand on the red switch. Prepare to do some running back and forth, not to mention avoiding the guard. It's not as hard as it sounds. Stage 5 Meat to lady x4 Okay, now it gets hard. Here's how to get the meat to the ladies. When the meat nears the red junction, step on the red switch. After that, stand on the blue switch when the meat nears the blue junction. Finally, stand on either yellow switch when the meat nears the yellow junction closest to the ladies. Stage 6 Game Gear to boy x4 The items go to the reject bin pretty fast in this one. Step on the red switch to send a Game Gear on, then QUICKLY step on the yellow switch to send the Game Gear away from the reject bin. Stage 7 Bread to old man x4 This one's tricky! Press the yellow switch to get the bread out of the loop, then press the first red switch to send the bread on, then the second one to get the bread to the old men. Stage 8 Medicine to sick guy x4 This one looks hard, but all you need to do is step on the red switch when the medicine is near the red junction. After this stage is over, you will see a congratulatory screen where your character (who has brown hair here for some reason) is presented with flowers (hope he's not allergic). All right! One round down, three to go! --------------------- Round 2 - Bridge mode --------------------- Stage 1 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 See the part of the belt that has red borders? You can pick those up by standing near them and pressing button 1. The items flow downwards. If the is a bridge to the right, they will go right, and the same applies to left bridges. If you place a bridge out to nowhere, the item will dissapear. Try to avoid giving the wrong item to the wrong person, as this decreases the timer. For this level, just switch the bridge around as needed. Stage 2 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Again, just switch the bridges around as needed. Stage 3 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 You're better off giving items one at a time here. As soon as an item is off the 'bridge belt', take the last bridge and use it as needed. Stage 4 Bread to old man x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Take two of the bridges and place them so that the main belt connects with the others. Use the other bridge as needed. Stage 5 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 This I.M. Greede is one devious bastard! The line going to the boy only gives out the items he DOESN'T need, and the line going to the others only gives out Game Gears! ARRGGGH!! Anyway, make a bridge connecting the boy's line with the others, and work from there. Stage 6 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Put the bridge between the old guy and the sick guy one space down. Then link the main line to the other lines and work from there. Stage 7 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 I'm sure you could work this one out by yourself... Stage 8 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Okay, make the lines that the items travel down connect between the lines that go to the people. As in Stage 3, deliver items to people one at a time. Keep the guard incapacitated, as he can be a major pain in the ass. Again, you'll get another congratulatory screen, similar to the last one, except the background looks different, and your character now has black hair (WTF?) and is wearing a nice red suit. Halfway there!! Nice going! --------------------- Round 3 - Switch mode --------------------- Stage 1 Meat to lady x3 Introducing the auto switch! This bastard of a thing often changes direction, making your job that much harder. Oh well. Use the yellow switch to save items from the reject bin, then press the red switch when the meat is near the ladies. Stage 2 Game Gear to boy x4 This one's just a matter of timing and practice. Stage 3 Bread to old man x4 Again, timing and practice. But here's a hint: The junction nearest the old guys only accepts items from the LEFT. Stage 4 Medicine to sick guy x4 See Stage 3, replace 'old guys' with 'sick guys'. You'll have to be quick here! Stage 5 Meat to lady x4 Push the weight onto the yellow switch. When the meat has passed the blue junction, step on the red switch and stay on there until the meat has passed the second red junction, then press the blue switch. NB: You may have to give the ladies bones once or twice. Stage 6 Game Gear to boy x5 Push the weight onto the yellow switch. When a Game Gear comes along, step on the red switch until it passes either second junction. Again, subdue the guard whenever possible. Stage 7 Medicine to sick guy x5 Deja vu, anyone? This looks exactly like Round 1, Stage 7 (except for the auto switch and different backgrounds). You can either wait for the auto switch, or hold down the red switch. After that, treat this stage exactly like Round 1, Stage 7. Stage 8 Medicine to sick guy x5 Push the weight onto the yellow switch. Then go down and use the red switch nearest the sick guys. Another guard to render useless awaits. Yet another congratulatory screen awaits with our hero (at least they got the hair color right this time) dressed in a good suit getting a kiss from a woman (man is he embarrassed!!) Only eight more stages to go!! To quote Rob Schnieder in The Waterboy, "You can do it!!" --------------------- Round 2 - Bridge mode --------------------- Stage 1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Both the lady and the boy should get their items easily. You only need to move a bridge so that the sick guy gets his medicine. Stage 2 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Again, the boy should get his Game Gear easily. Just move the bridges as needed. Stage 3 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 I found that I didn't have to change the bridges around very much at all on this one. But if you're worried about time, go ahead. Stage 4 Bread to old man x2 Game Gear to boy x3 Does the word 'frustrating' mean anything to you? The left two belts only send Game Gears, The third belts from the right only sends medicine (which NOBODY in this stage needs), and the right belts only send bread. Two of the boys and one old man should recieve their items easily, but you are going to have to regulate the other two. Only send one item at a time. Stage 5 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 The boy and the lady should be fine (you'll have to remove a bridge, then replace it for the lady), but as for the other two, you'll need to make a bridge and give one item at a time. Stage 6 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Ay Carumba, this is tricky!! Use one bridge to get the items down the main path, Then take a bridge with you, and go down to the far right corner to give the boy and the old man their items, then go back to where the long horizontal biridge is, then build one underneath it. After that, take a bridge with you and give the other two their items. Stage 7 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 This looks tricky, but order saves the day. Work your way from top to bottom and you'll be fine. When you get near the sick guy, take out the guard. Stage 8 Bread to old man x1 Game Gear to boy x1 Meat to lady x1 Medicine to sick guy x1 Last stage, and boy is it a doozy! In fact, it's such a doozy that I'm not giving you ANY help for this one. You've come this far, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out on your own. I won't spoil the ending, but it's shithouse. Kinda like the game, really. Christina McVeigh's Final Score = 625 970 (Beat it if you can!) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 6. FAQ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Q. Why did you write a FAQ about a mostly forgotten game? A. Because the only FAQ I found on GameFAQs.com was incomplete. Q. Did you know you really are an asshole? A. Why don't you just shut up and sing the song, pal? %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% 7. LEGAL SHIT ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I suppose this document is inherently protected by copyright law, but come on now, let's not take ourselves too seriously. It's just a FAQ for a video game. If you want to put it up on your site, fine, if you want to steal it and give yourself credit for it, fine. As long as the original is at GameFaqs under my name... but that's the thing. Nobody's going to do any of this, and that's the assumption under which I grant these rights. Heck, if you seriously think that you can make money by selling a piddling FAQ for a forgettable game, then be my guest. More power to you. I hereby waive my rights of protection as author of this document. I urge fellow writers of less-than-memorable FAQs to do the same. I mean, have you seen some of these legal sections out there? They're half as long as the FAQ itself! It's a waste of space anyway. Come on, admit it, you liked reading my legal section more than any of the pseudo-legal ramblings of those other FAQs. The way I see it, if you're going to blow a big fat paragraph at the bottom of your document, you should at least make it somewhat appealing to the 2 or 3 people who may eventually read it. **NOTE** Yes, I know that I stole that from Eller's Shadowrun walkthrough, but I really liked it. Eller, if you want me to stop using it, just email me. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& 9.
