Try setting them with Z so they always come up first. » Save all of your Swords, Wide-Swords, and Long-Swords. Starting a battle with a good Dream Sword Program Advance is always useful. But make sure you know the boss's pattern well or it'll go to waste... » It's a good idea to start a boss battle with a full custom gauge, just in case your chips don't work out as planned. You can do this by waiting outside the boss entrance until it fills or by using a FullCustom sub-chip (in case you might not need it, save the FullCustom sub-chip for usage DURING the battle). » Another good Program Advance to always go into battle with is the Cannon, Hi-Cannon, Mega-Cannon Program Advance: Zeta-Cannon. This grants you temporary invisibility and unlimited Cannon usage until it wears off. It's an incredibly useful attack. » Invisible chips are a blessing! With a good amount of these, you can just pop one on right before getting whacked with a powerful attack. Or use one to get around to the other side of a large boss who's crowding your corner of the ring. » Dash Attack chips are a cheap way to win against ground bosses. It does a whopping 90 damage per hit and it sends you through the boss and to the other side! I'll note that the game knows how cheap this is and seldom gives you good rewards. » Since Recovery chips also use your valuable MP gauge, it's not always a good idea to use them often in a battle... because even after you recover, you're completely open to attacks without the aid of more battle chips. For this, it's a good idea to buy a lot of recovery sub-chips from Higure's shop. These are used from the pause menu and don't require any MP... and it gives you more space for offensive/defensive chips. Plus, pausing can give you a little breathing room in the fight! » A much overlooked ability: you can slide through bosses' legs! They spit strings of fire that curve a certain way. They never move and their pattern is always the same. They spit fire down (jump over it at the right moment), and then up (stand still). Wash and repeat. They come in three different flavors. The only differences between these flavors are their attack power and the chips they drop when defeated. The blue ones are Garuus, the red ones are Garuubers, and the yellow ones are Garuudoras. Garuus are the weakest, Garuudoras are the strongest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2] *** BIG POWERD *** (Known as Flappy in English) Area(s) - Bank System 2 Hit Points - 400 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Foot Stamp, Recover 80 Attack(s) - Collision Damage (100) (None) In the GBA games, this virus appears as a happy 'bird' that will transform into a huge statue to crush you from above. In Transmission, they are in permanent statue form. They take up a majority of the screen and will attempt to drift over top of you and fall down on you. They're not that difficult to defeat, but they have a lot of HP. Simply slide out from under them and turn around to hit them with an attack. Though they're easy targets, it may be safe not to get too close, so don't use Sword chips. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [3] *** COLD BEAR *** (Known as PolarBear in English) Area(s) - Water Service Bureau System Hit Points - 300 Element(s) - Aqua Chip(s) - Ice Cube Attack(s) - Ice Cube (60) (Aqua) He slides an ice cube towards you. It only hurts you if it crushes you if you're in it's sliding path. You can ride them. - Collision Damage (100) (None) The Cold Bear is only vulnerable in the head. They stand in one spot and slide ice cubes towards you. You can ride the ice cubes just fine, but don't get stuck in front of them or else they'll crush you up against the wall/other ice cubes. His element is deceiving; he may be made of ice, but he's not weak to heat-based attacks. Use elec-based. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [4] *** BIG PUKOOL/PUKOOLBUB/MINI-PUKOOL *** (Known as Puffy/Mid-Puffy/Small Puffy in English) Area(s) - Water Service Bureau System 3 Hit Points - 150 (Big Pukool), 120 (Pukoolbub), 120 (Mini-Pukool) Element(s) - Aqua/Aqua/Aqua Chip(s) - Bubble Shot (Mini-Pukool) Bubble Buoy (Mini-Pukool) Attack(s) - Collision Damage (100 Big Pukool/50 Pukoolbub/50 Mini-Pukool) (None) This is a giant version of a Pukool with a purple coloring. It takes up the entire screen and attacks you by bumping into you. Because the surface you battle on is icy, it's hard to stop from sliding when avoiding attacks. When you've done enough damage to the Pukool, it will split into the medium sized Pukoolbubs. As you damage them, they split into the smaller Mini-Pukools. Soon enough, the entire screen is filled with the Pukools! It's best to try and focus on one set of Pukools so the screen won't get too filled with them, because the icy ground makes it easy to slide into them and take damage. A strategy sent in by Protoman47 says that a good way to take the Pukools out is to knock them all down to their tiniest size and then use the FireArm battle chip. It supposidely takes out a large string of them in one shot and usually gives you their battle chip while you're at it. Thanks, Protoman47! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [5] *** BIG EYE *** Area(s) - Power Plant System, Legendary WWW Area Hit Points - 400 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Foot Stamp, Recover 150 Attack(s) - Collision Damage (100) (None) This classic NES Rockman enemy is a huge stomper machine with a spiked bottom. Don't worry; the spikes won't deal an instant KO like other spikes in the game. But they will indeed hurt. They take a few short hops and then one large hop, but they can often get screwed up with bumping into walls or the ceiling. Simply stay out from under them and you'll be fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [6] *** BIG YOLAND *** (Known as Yort in English) Area(s) - Zero Gravity Area 2 Hit Points - 300 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Yo-Yo1, Yo-Yo2, Yo-Yo3 Attack(s) - Yo-Yo (80) (None) Spinning blades encircle Yoland and will block attacks that go in their direction. - Homing Missiles (80) (None) Slow-moving torpedoes that home onto Rockman. They can be destroyed. - Collision Damage (100) (None) Make sure you have the proper chips before facing this virus. It's a giant form of the Yoland viruses you fight throughout this stage, except it's much more difficult. It flies around with bladed yo-yo's circling it. Any shots will be blocked by these yo-yo's. Not only that, but it's weak point is the tiny core that you can only get to by shooting a shot into the narrow passage in the front of it. If that doesn't make things difficult enough, the Yoland slowly drifts up and down to make the shot difficult. And to make this battle even more frustrating, it will fire small homing torpedos (that can be destroyed with normal RockBuster shots) at you! The best way to get in for a hit is to use chips like Shotgun/BuoyGun/CrossGun/SpreadGun and their aqua/heat counterparts. No matter where you hit with these chips, the blast it creates will usually hit the core. If you don't have the proper chips, you may be forced to take this virus out with normal RockBuster shots... which takes decades. Rockman can't clear it with a jump, so slide at the exact right time to get past it. - Burning Body (50) (Heat) Fireman is surrounded by flames. This is a close-range attack, so don't get close and you should be fine against it. - Burning Tower (120) (Heat) When Fireman is near deletion, he will shoot out short-ranged pillars of fire. Fireman is a tough boss this early in the game. Since you have little HP, one or two hits will delete you. That's why it's a neccessity to avoid EVERY single attack and to hit him hard and fast. Being the heat-element, he'll take double-damage from aqua-type attacks. Since you start the game with Bubble Shot chips, save them for this battle to nail him with every chance you get. They do 50 damage each, and since he's heat, it does 100 each. So hit him with four Bubble Shot chips and he's deleted. If you don't want to use those, save a Dream Sword 1 PA for this battle to do some pretty heavy damage right away. Fireman really isn't difficult, but it's just a surprise for beginner gamers who didn't expect such a challenging boss this early in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2] *** GUTSMAN *** Area(s) - Global Area 2 Hit Points - 600 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Guts Punch, Gutsman Attack(s) - Guts Punch (50) (None) A short-ranged punch. As long as you don't get close to Gutsman, he won't use it. - Guts Hammer (40) (None) An extremely fast attack. Gutsman will hit the ground and create a shockwave that damages Rockman if he's on the ground -and- paralyzes him. Try to jump the moment he raises his arms, which is very difficult to time perfectly. - Guts Stamp (50) (None) Gutsman will jump. The jump is very slow and he's vulnerable the entire time, so hit him when he's in the air. When he lands, he'll create a shockwave, so jump right before he lands. However, if you hit him with a powerful attack and stun him in the air, his landing won't harm Rockman. The reason Gutsman is difficult is because his best attack is so fast and that he likes to crowd you on your side. For that reason, you need to have some major reflexes. A good chip to use in this battle is the Dash Attack chip. It deals a good 90 damage and it will get you to the other side of him. If you don't have those ready, you can slide through his legs to reach safety. Hang onto some Recovery chips, of course. A lot of long-ranged attacks are also recommended, but that doesn't mean equipping the Dream Sword 1 PA is a bad idea. Always hit him when he's in the air; it's his most vulnerable point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [3] *** NEEDLEMAN *** Area(s) - Garden System 2 Hit Points - 600 Element(s) - Wood Chip(s) - Needle Cannon, Needleman Attack(s) - Needle Attack (60) (Wood) A close-ranged attack where he tries to hit you with his spiked body. Just don't get close to him to avoid it. - Needle Cannon (60) (Wood) He'll fire a couple needles forward. Like the Fire Arm attack, you have to slide under them to avoid them. - Aerial Needle Cannon (60) (Wood) He'll jump into the air and fire a couple needles down diagonally. They have a flight pattern, so learn it to know where to stand to avoid them. - Hyper Needle Cannon (80) (Wood) He charges this attack up when leaves surround him. When you see this, get close and run under him as soon as he jumps up. When he jumps, he'll fire needles all over the screen except for under him. The moment he begins to fall, slide out from under him so he doesn't land on you. Needleman is one of the easier bosses to defeat. A cheap way to take him out is to use a lot of Dash Attack chips, but this seldom wins you his chips. Instead, equip yourself with a lot of heat-based chips since his wood-element takes double damage from them. None of his attacks are real easy to get hit with, and they don't deal massive damage anyway. Take along some Heater and Fire Arm chips to get the job done fast and easy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [4] *** BRIGHTMAN *** Area(s) - Electric City System 2 Hit Points - 500 Element(s) - Elec Chip(s) - Remote Plug, Brightman Attack(s) - Bright Beam (80) (Elec) A fast-moving laser that will attempt to bend to follow you during it's flight path. A good timed jump can avoid it. Don't jump too soon or it will slant diagonally to hit you in the air. - Energy Ball (60) (Elec) A slow-moving sphere of electric energy that will try and follow you. You can't jump or slide under it, so to avoid it, jump a bit to make it rise and then immediately slide under it. Continue until it fades away. - Plug Lariat (100) (Elec) A close-ranged attack that deals heavy damage. Stay away from Brightman to avoid it. - Energy Drain (120) (Elec) Another close-ranged attack that deals even heavier damage! Except, the damage dealt will be used to recover HP to Brightman! Stay away from Brightman and he won't use it. Brightman is known for his incredibly high difficulty! He has a shield that actives the moment an attack hits him, and everytime the shield activates, he immediately counterattacks with a Bright Beam or an Energy Ball. Because of this, it's difficult to even deal damage to him. Navi chips can break through his shield, so save some Roll chips to use along with Recovery chips. Fire a normal RockBuster shot at him and then get prepared to immediately use a fast battle chip on him the moment he counterattacks the RockBuster shot. It takes a lot of timing to do well in this battle. Because of his elec-element, wood-type chips do massive damage to him, so try some TreeBombs that you can win from Needleman's stage. KillerJedi writes: "Train until you get a decent amount of Needleman Navi chips, and then make sure to enter Brightman's battle with them equipped. Use Needleman until you run out of MP, you can take him down easily with Rock Buster shots, or wait for your MP to recover and use another Needleman. Since Needleman is wood-type and Brightman is elec-type, Needleman does double damage... meaning 160 damage a hit. Since he only has 500 HP, three Needleman chips deal 480 damage." Rickey Dute writes: "Lock the Shockwave battle chip (and have a decent amount of them too) so that it comes up every time. Move as far away from Brightman as possible. Fire a Rock Buster shot and immediately throw a Shockwave in his direction. If done correctly, the Rock Buster shot will hit his shield, have him fire a laser, then get hit by the Shockwave and you'll still have enough time to jump his laser." GPuffyDude writes: "There is a much simpler way to beat Brightman. You should start by collecting the maximum amount of Satelit chips(10). Make them your default chip right before the boss fight. Now while fighting Brightman, fire of a satelit and wait until it is almost about to hit him, then shoot ONE normal Buster shot. The buster will penetrate the shield and the satelit will cause damage, giving you plenty of time to dodge his attack. Rinse, Lather, Repeat" Ben writes: "Another way that I found out is to use the Shield chip to block his attack and then it turns it into a shockwave which bounces back and hits him." dylan writes: "In killing brightman you don't even need to train to get more needle man chips. You should have plenty of TreeBomb2 chips if you beat the needle man stage. Each of these deal 120 wood damage (which equates to 240 damage against brightman), and since brightman just sits in the corner it is very easy to hit him with these!" ElecManEXE writes: "Contrary to what other people think, it actually isn't that you need to hit him before you can actually damage him. The thing is that he is vulnerable, like QuickMan, only when attacking. So, just let him wander around randomly until he attacks, then blast him. He very rarely comes anywhere near you, so you don't even have to worry about dodging him as he moves. It makes it much harder if you attack him while he is shielded, as it makes him attack much more often. Just be patient and wait for him to make the first move. I recommend using TreeBomb2, or TreeBomb3 if you are rematching him later in the game. These chips can kill him in just a few hits. Stand so that you are just the right distance to hit him with TreeBomb, jump over his laser and fire. Or, if he jumps, its even easier, just toss it up at him." Tim Peltzer writes: "first get within range for a tree bomb attack then shoot your buster cannon then shoot you treebomb if you have 200 life you should do fine just be quick" Knuckles-The-Echidna writes: "It's very easy to beat him once you get his pattern: jump over the beams and that throw a lil or cross or any bomb that spreads out a little and use stone body or dodge the tracking balls." David Briers writes: "A VERY good strategy (which requires extremely good timing however), is, as soon as the battle starts, hop, and fire a normal megabuster round (holding it in to charge it at the same time). He will put up the barrier, but since your shot will miss him, he will not retaliate. If you time it just right, you can release your charged blast just as he drops his barrier - no problem :)" Red Harriet writes: "Bright Man is a menace and deflects all of your attacks back at you. However, given the chance, he will attack you with a laser beam. If you deflect this back at him with a Guard or ShldGard, he'll take damage. I defeated him easilly without taking any damage." That should be more than enough Brightman help for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [5] *** QUICKMAN *** Area(s) - Bank System 2 Hit Points - 500 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Quick Boomerang, Quickman Attack(s) - Quick Boomerang (40) (None) The flight pattern of the boomerang is different depending on when Quickman throws it. On the ground, it goes over Rockman's head and then back down towards his feet, so stand still and then jump over it on the way back. When thrown from the air, it goes straight for Rockman, so slide out of the way. - Quick Guard (30) (None) Quickman will dash from left to right on the stage, attempting to ram you. He's invulnerable to attacks like this, so slide under him to avoid damage. You'd assume a boss whose name implies quickness would be super-fast and extremely challenging because of that, but Quickman is pretty much a push- over. He basically dashes around the playing field, ramming you. Try your best to get out of his way, though it can be hard. He's only vulnerable after he's thrown his boomerang, so try to jump over it's unpredictable flight path, hit him with a fast chip (like a Cannon), then avoid the boomerang on it's way back. Navi chips are, of course, helpful in this match and the Zeta-Cannon PA is a life-saver. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [6] *** ICEMAN *** Area(s) - Water Service Bureau System 2 Hit Points - 500 Element(s): Aqua Chip(s) - Ice Slasher, Iceman Attack(s) - Ice Breath (100) (Aqua) A close-range attack that Iceman only uses if you get close to him. - Ice Slasher (100) (Aqua) A projectile that deals pretty heavy damage. However, it's easy to jump over and it won't travel the entire width of the arena. - Ice Cube (80) (Aqua) He slides an ice cube across the arena like Cold Bear does. It works in the same way. - Freeze Bomb (160) (Aqua) His most powerful attack. He chucks four bombs into the arena that form large ice pillars when they hit the ground. Keep out from under the bombs to avoid the attack. Iceman is considered to be the easiest boss in the game, even though his attacks are some of the most damaging. His small size makes it easy to jump over him, but the icy ground can make sliding around a problem. He runs back and forth through the stage, occasionally attacking. All you really need to do is hit him hard and fast before he uses the Freeze Bomb; that's his only dangerous attack. Like the Cold Bear, his element is deceiving. Though his name is Iceman, he's weak to elec-type attacks, not heat-type. The game has no ice-type, so all ice-based enemies are really aqua-type. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [7] *** COLOREDMAN *** (Known as ColorMan in English) Area(s) - Game Center System 2 Hit Points - 700 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Colored Ball, Coloredman Attack(s) - Colored Ball (60) (None) Coloredman will throw the ball he balances on at you. The ball will be thrown in one of two ways. If it is thrown hard, it will roll towards Rockman, so jump over it. If it is thrown high, it will bounce towards Rockman, so slide under it. Either way, it'll come back in the same fashion once it hits the wall behind you, so be ready. - Flame Tower (80) (Heat) Coloredman will send pillars of fire forward, with the next pillar being directly in front of the last. Stand beside a pillar and once it reaches it's maximum height, immediately slide towards it to avoid the one that will appear from under Rockman. Coloredman isn't that challenging. Stay in one corner of the arena and have Dash Attacks ready to get away from him if he gets too close (which he rarely does). Since his legs are hidden by the ball he balances on, you can't slide under him. The Flame Tower is very slow moving, so save your reflexes for his quick moving ball attack. I'm not positive about this, but I'm pretty sure he's only vulnerable to attack on his body; not the ball portion. Use a lot of long-ranged attacks to take him out quick. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [8] *** ELECMAN *** Area(s) - Power Plant System 2 Hit Points - 700 Element(s) - Elec Chip(s) - Thunder Beam, Elecman Attack(s) - High-Voltage Current (120) (Elec) Elecman will teleport behind Rockman and attempt to electricute him. Simply move away to avoid the attack. - Lightning Blast (120) (Elec) Storm clouds will form at the top of the arena and fire lightning bolts down. Simply stay out from under them to avoid the attack. Elecman is also very simple to defeat. His attacks are very damaging, but it's extremely easy to avoid getting hit at all. Everytime you hit him with any attack, he'll teleport behind you and attempt to use High-Voltage Current. Equip a powerful long-range attack, like a M-Cannon. Then hit him with a single RockBuster shot, slide away, then turn around and hit him with the powerful chip. The Lightning Blast isn't too much of a problem to avoid, but they can sometimes blend with the arena, so keep an eye out for them. Remember that Elecman is, naturally, the elec-element, so use a lot of wood-type chips. ElecManEXE writes: "Gosh, I have gotten to be so good at beating him that I actually had more trouble getting ThunderBeam chips than his Navi chip. He won't do his Vanish and Stun Touch very often unless you attack him first. So, what you do is dash under him and follow him around. Make sure that you stay VERY close to him. When he stops to use Thunder Clouds, hit him with a TreeBomb to do some major damage. Don't attempt to hit him with the arc, or he will move before it hits. Get close and hit him with it at point blank range. Then, if he does what he usually does, he will try to use his Thunder Clouds again. Wait until he stops flashing, and in the split second he does, hit him again before he can finish his attack. Repeat, and in 4 shots or less, you have yourself an easy victory." Red Harriet writes: "Elecman will blink out of sight before an attack reaches him and stun you from behind. However, if you use a Spice attack, a cloud of poisonous gas will surround you. Fire your buster at Elecman and he will teleport behind you and get pounded by your cloud of Spice. All the better, Spice is a wood attack and so Elecman takes double damage." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [9] *** SWORDMAN *** Area(s) - Old Generation Area 2 Hit Points - 700 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Sonic Blade, Swordman Attack(s) - Spiral Sword (80) (None) He'll twirl two swords around and then throw them at you like slow-moving boomerangs. You can either jump over or slide under them depending on the distance between Swordman and Rockman. - Sword Press (100) (None) Swordman will go to the top of the screen and follow Rockman's position. He'll then fly down, attempting to crush Rockman. When he lands, he also creates a paralyzing shockwave that hits Rockman if he's on the ground. So when he begins to fall, slide out of the way and then jump right before he lands. - Great Sword (50) (None) He sends a shockwave forward. Slide under it. Though the safest strategy is to stay far away from him and nail him with long-range chips, it's a lot more fun to equip yourself with Invisible and Sword chips for a close-range fight. I call it the "fight-fire-with-fire- fight." Use an Invisible chip and then proceed to hit him hard with any kind of Sword chip you have (maybe even the Dream Sword 1 PA). A little less fun is to use the Zeta-Cannon, though it gets the job done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [A] *** GRAVITYMAN *** Area(s) - Abnormal Gravity Area 2 Hit Points - 700 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Gravity Hold, Gravityman Attack(s) - Gravity Drive (0) (None) He attempts to pull your towards him, but the pull is so weak that you can easily get away with a couple of slides or by just running. - Gravity Hold (100) (None) Gravityman will send energy spheres to track after you; up to 4 at a time. They will fade away at their own pace, so your best bet is to avoid them until they're gone. Gravityman's battle is a lot of fun just because it doesn't end in a couple of seconds. His vulnerable spot is his tiny head, and his arms can block attacks. A lot of Bomb-style chips are good for hitting him. What's important to keep in mind in this battle is that you can walk on the ceiling. If you jump to Rockman's peak, gravity will reverse and Rockman will gain access to walking on the ceiling. This is very neccessary for avoiding his Gravity Hold attack, which can look pretty cool if you avoid them successfully. The only challenge is actually hitting Gravityman, since his weak point is tiny. A good way to hit him is to get on the ceiling, get right over his head, and throw a Bomb-type chip like a TreeBomb, and then immediately escape since he tends to use Gravity Drive immediately after. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [B] *** STARMAN *** Area(s) - Zero Gravity Area 2 Hit Points - 700 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Star Arrow, Starman Attack(s) - Star Arrow (90) (None) He fires out arrows in all 8 directions. It's difficult to avoid at close-range. - Meteor (120) (None) Stars will rain down diagonally. It's only a few, so if you jump over the last string or slide away, you should be able to avoid them. - Meteor Shower (120) (None) This is a much stronger version of Meteor used when Starman is near deletion. A lot more stars rain down, making it extremely difficult to avoid them. Attempt to use Invisible chips or Double Jump chips to avoid them. Starman will teleport the moment any kind of attack gets close to him. For this, shoot a RockBuster shot in his direction and then hit him with a more powerful attack the moment he's done teleporting. Starman never touches the ground, and unfortunately, there is no low gravity here (so you don't have high jumps). Don't bother using any kind of low attacks, but instead equip yourself with a lot of Bomb-type attacks. Starman's most dangerous attack is definitely his Meteor Shower, so have Invisible chips ready to counter these. GPuffyDude writes: "When he's floating in the air, shoot a buster shot. Immediately jump again because he will teleport but this time you will be able to shoot him. When he starts the shooting stars attack slide under it if there's an opening to do so, and if not start at the far side of the screen and jump as high as you can, then dodge them as you float back down. The star arrows are easy to dodge just stand in between them." ElecManEXE writes: "This guy is hard until you realize how his Teleport is triggered. Like a Ghost enemy that you get Invis chips from, he teleports only when you are horizontal to him. So, the easy thing to do is stay on the ground and hit him from below with TreeBomb chips. Any bomb type chip will work, but TreeBombs are the easiest to get and you can hold a lot of them. Hit him, then get ready to slide to avoid whatever attack he counters with. Don't jump unless you do it during his Star Rain, or you will trigger his teleportation." NOTE: It seems ElecManEXE's strategy contradicts my own. I'm not sure what triggers his teleportation exactly, since I haven't played my copy of Transmission for months. Sorry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [C] *** ZERO VIRUS *** Area(s) - Zero Account Hit Points - 800 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Zet Saber, Zero Attack(s) - Zet Saber (100) (None) A three-step sword slash attack. It's fairly long, so avoid the first slash and then slide to safety. - Denjin Saber (150) (None) If you get close, Zero will hop into the air with his sword in an uppercut fashion. - Mikadzuki Saber (80) (None) After the Denjin Saber, he will spin in a circle as he falls. If you managed to slide away from the Denjin Saber, you will avoid this attack too. - Phantom Zero (300) (None) He fires an onslaught of impossible-to-avoid shockwaves. You -must- use an Invisible chip to avoid the very heavy damage. Zero is a close-range fighter, hold his ultimate attack. It's very neccessary to have a good collection of Invisible chips for this fight, but don't use them all because his Phantom Zero attack is very lethal. It's also important to remember that the slide-through-his-legs strategy is very essential in this match. Zero fights a lot like Elecman. The moment you hit him with an attack, he'll teleport in front of you and prepare to use the Zet Saber. So, hit him with a weak RockBuster shot, and as soon as he teleports, slide through his legs and hit him from behind with a powerful chip. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [D] *** SHADOWMAN *** Area(s) - Destroyed WWW Area 2 Hit Points - 700 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Muramasa, Shadowman Attack(s) - Oboro (140) (None) He'll jump into the air along with two copies of himself. The real Shadowman will slash at you while the copies won't harm you at all. - Shuriken (120) (None) Right after Oboro, he throws two ninja stars left and right. Try to slide under them since they can rise if you jump. - Fuusha (140) (None) A very large shuriken is thrown towards your position. - Shadow Slash (140) (None) He swipes with his sword from the air to the ground. A well-placed jump will avoid it. Shadowman can be tough, but don't give up! His most common attack is the Oboro. There's a way to identify the real Shadowman, and that's by his slightly different coloring. Because of this, immediately avoid the real Shadowman and hit him with a long-ranged attack like a M-Cannon. This will cancel out his Shuriken if you do it fast enough. If he stands still for too long, he'll toss more Shurikens and sometimes the Fuusha (rare). Like most battles, you'll do just fine with Invisible chips and fast chips like M-Cannons. A Zeta-Cannon PA is always helpful, as well as some Roll chips. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [E] *** PHARAOHMAN *** Area(s) - Legendary WWW Area 2 Hit Points - 1000 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Poison Anubis, Pharaohman Attack(s) - Coffin Laser (120) (None) A coffin appears and fires a large green laser forward. As soon as the coffin lands, jump over it to avoid the shot. - Poison Anubis (40) (None) A poisonous gas will hit Rockman no matter where he is on the screen. The coffin will vanish after the gas hits 9 times. The coffin can be destroyed if hit three times with any attacks, so rush over to it and shoot three RockBuster shots to take it out quickly. - Chuuton (10) (None) A Chuuton virus will be summoned. Because it's too low to hit with most projectiles, use a Wide Sword-type chip to dispose of it quickly. (Note: Chuutons are also known as Rattons in English.) Since Pharaohman just floats around the screen the entire time and is a generally large target, it's better to just focus on depleting his rather large HP meter as fast as possible instead of worrying about his coffin decoys. The Poison Anubis is easily disposed of and the Coffin Laser can be avoided quite easily. The only real annoyance is the Chuuton, which is too low to the ground to hit with a lot of attacks. Overall, this battle is fairly easy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [F] *** BLUES *** (Known as ProtoMan in English) Area(s) - Official Exclusive Area (Global Area 3) Hit Points - 800 Element(s) - None Chip(s) - Variable Sword, Blues Attack(s) - Wide Sword (70) (None) This works the same way as the Wide Sword battle chip. - Blues Shield (40) (None) If hit, he'll counterattack with the High Guard battle chip. Avoid the shockwave with a battle chip. - Fumikomizan (70) (None) An impossible to avoid attack. Just use an Invisible chip. - Frontal Breakthrough (70) (None) Blues uses a dashing slash. Jump over or slide under it. - Dream Sword (120) (None) A very large slash and sonic boom attack. Use an Invisible chip. In case you didn't notice, almost all of Blues' attacks are avoided with the use of the Invisible chip. Because of that, don't go into this battle without a heavy collection of them. Blues is a very fast contender and it's hard to avoid his attacks. His Blues Shield is also a pain in the neck, as he'll block many attacks. What's best to do is slide under him or use an Invisible chip when he attacks to get behind him, and then nail him with a powerful attack. A majority of his moves can't even be avoided with Invisible chips! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [G] *** FIREWALL *** Area(s) - Ura Internet 1 (Known as the Undernet in English) Hit Points - 1000 (center cannon), 400 (top and bottom cannons) Element(s) - None/None Chip(s) - None Attack(s) - Security Laser (120) (None) A laser fired by the top cannon. It acts just like Brightman's Bright Beam attack. Avoid it with a jump and then get prepared to dodge the... - Security Shot (70) (None) Also fired from the top cannon, it will fire this when you jump to avoid the Security Laser. - Security Missile (80) (None) Homing missiles fired by the bottom cannon, they will only fire after the top cannon is destroyed. Because of it's location, both the missiles and the cannon can easily be disposed of with the RockBuster. - Mega Security Beam (150) (None) A very large laser fired by the center cannon. It won't hit you as long as you don't jump. The Firewall is a pretty simple boss. You battle on a very slow-moving conveyer belt that leads to spikes. It moves so slow that it's hardly worth worrying about hitting the spikes. It's a good idea to take out the top cannon first since it has the most annoying attacks. The bottom cannon is easily disposed of with the RockBuster shots, and then the center core (with it's large HP amount) can be focused on last. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [H] *** NAVI COPIES *** Area(s) - Ura Internet 2 (Known as the Undernet in English) Hit Points - Various Element(s) - Various Chip(s) - None Attack(s) - Various This is a fight against Fireman, Gutsman, Needleman, Brightman, Quickman, Coloredman, and Elecman... one after the other. The fights are the exact same as they were when you fought them before, except you don't get any chip or HP recovery in between battles (though you do after you defeat all of them). Also, if you lose to one of them, you DON'T have to start all over. So don't take this fight -too- seriously. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [I] *** DREAM VIRUS *** (Known as Life Virus in English) Area(s) - Ura Internet 3 (Known as Undernet in English) Hit Points - ??? Element(s) - None (his body) / All (his aura changes elements) Chip(s) - None Attack(s) - Flamethrower (??) (Heat) He sends a string of fire down. It's near impossible to avoid unless you're extremely close to him. - Woody Tower (??) (Wood) Pillars of wood bust through the ground. Stand in between the pillars to avoid them. - Thunder Shower (??) (Elec) Storm clouds form and shoot lightning down pretty fast. Stand in between the clouds, which is a very narrow space. - Ice Tower (??) (Aqua) A trail of icy pillars will burst from the ground towards Rockman. - Poison Bubbles (??) (????) In his second form, he tosses very tiny though extremely damaging bubbles at you. The Dream Virus is pretty tough. He has an aura the entire battle and you can't break it with any kind of attack that deals less than 100 damage, so don't even bother bringing any chips like that into the battle. His aura also comes in four flavors, each representing the different elements with it's color. Red is heat, blue is aqua, green is wood, and yellow is elec. Since his aura has an elemental type, it will deal double damage to certain attacks. When the aura is broken, it -will- come back, so hurry and hit the Dream Virus with any of your attacks the moment it's broken. The Dream Virus's aura also represents what attack it will use. It has an attack for each element, and each attack is very dangerous. What I do is stand right up to the Dream Virus to avoid the Flamethrower. It also buys me some time to avoid Woody Tower and Thunder Shower. The drawback is you'll get hit by his Ice Tower no matter what, though it's fortunately seldom used (apparently). Try to use a lot of attacks like TreeBombs, and the Zeta-Cannon PA is extremely helpful. Also keep A LOT of Invisible chips handy; you'll need them. After his first form is defeated, he turns into a strange demon-like creature that drifts around the screen, dropping very damaging Poison Bubbles. He has very little HP, so he can be taken out pretty easily with the RockBuster. However, make sure he doesn't bump into you or hit you with any bubbles; these attacks hurt -a lot.- David Briers writes: "This was quite sneaky, I thought... Before the last battle, use up ALL your chips, except for three (the three cannon chips). Enable the cannon P.A, and wait for your custom gauge to fill up. ATTACK. Run into him, and hop and fire at his head (with the P.A engaged). As you are invincible, nothing will happen to you, and you can take just slightly more than half of his HP like that. Once you see it wear off, just get a new batch of chips (which will obviously contain the three cannons, as that is all that you have left), and repeat - you will kill him easily (and his second incarnation is incredibly easy - just use a charged megabuster blast, and slide under him when he gets too close)." After you've finished the game and acquired every Navi's battle chip, you should receive any e-mail from Meiru. Now go to the Global Area 3 and look around for a locked door near the ceiling. It should lead to the battle with Forte. Forte can defeat you in a couple of hits, and he has was seems like unlimited HP. However, he really isn't hard. You don't even have to deplete his entire HP gauge to defeat him! If you do enough damage to him, his cloak will eventually fall off and he'll escape, leaving his battle chip behind. Forte has an aura, like Dream Virus, so make sure to have damaging chips to break his aura. TreeBombs are good for this. The best strategy I've found is to go into the battle with the Zeta-Cannon PA ready, as well as having Invisible, Recovery, and TreeBomb chips ready. As soon as you enter, use the Zeta-Cannon to do a lot of damage. When it's effects wear off, activate an Invisible chip and nail him with TreeBombs. It shouldn't be long until he escapes. Marcus Melton writes: "Bass is ultimately unstoppable. He is the god of the game, however... you can hit him or damage him enough for him to stop and ask 'How did you withstand my attack?' or something like that. You use an attack that is strong enough to temporarily disable his aura--5 or 6 direct attacks will destroy it. (It seems... I didn't pay much attention to his aura to tell.) After 1 or 2 more hits, his cape will fly off and he will let you live. In other words, you don't have to drop his HP to zero to win and you get his Navi chip when you're done! MORE: One of the key elements you need before you fight bass is a chip to defend against his attacks. think of a chip and get some MP Charge because you will run out of MP and bass won't let you live long enough for you to recharge.(some healing chip if you get hit to much) The way to attack to hit his aura and with the same chip or a chip just as powerful hit him repeat this 5 to 6 times and his aura will gone and 1 or 2 hit to him and thats it and dont forget to use a good chip to defend from his attacks." B.J. writes: "Go through Yai's garden computer until you have close to 20 TreeBom1 or 2 chips. Put them as the regular chip right outside the green portal. Enter the portal, stand under him and keep lobbing them at him, 1 will break the shield, 1 will hit him for a little damage, repeat. When your life gets low, pause, use subchips. When your MP gets low, pause, use subchips. By the time a third of his life is gone he'll give up. Good luck with that." KaoubaII writes: "Have like 4 cannnons, 4 hi cannons, and 4 M-cannons (VERY easy to get) and before you enter the teleport to go to him, enable the program advance. Idealisticly, your line up should be along the lines of [CANNON/HICANNON/MCANNON/INVIS]. While using the program advance your INVINCIBLE, and it only takes ONE shot to break his aura. So just continuously fire at him. When the PA runs out, just invis until your bar fills (or if you want a REALLY easy fight, use a FulLCust sub-chip) and then re-activate the PA. The second time you use the PA, you will win. (NOTE: you DO NOT deplete his health to zero to win. You only knock off a TINY bit of his HP. Once beaten, the only thing destroyed is his cape)." Dray'Gon writes: "I wanted to inform you that most of what Marcus said about Bass/Forte is correct. You have to drop his aura down 5 times, hitting him after each time it drops or else he raises it back up again. Each time, he changes his attack. In order to drop his aura, you need to do 100 points of damage, or more, in a single attack. His first attack is a slow ball of energy that does 300 damage (only one I know for certain). Second attack, he drops two energy balls that explode upwards. You can either stand between them (closer to the one that lands nearest him), or underneath Bass/Forte. Third attack is a red beam that bends twice... It's nearly impossible to dodge, but I'm sure it can be done. His fourth attack is he discharges 4-5 energy balls around him, and they split into beams going in the four cardinal directions (i.e. up, down, left, and right) This is also hard to dodge. If he's floating high on the screen, you probably can slide underneath the attack. If he's closer to the ground, then you'll need to jump, and move forward. Timing is crucial. As for a strategy to beat him, use the cannon advance. You should take out three of his shields before the invisibility (and the unlimited cannon shots) dissapears. Then it's just dodging, and using healing subchips (he does too much damage to use regular healing chips), and navi's to finish him off. You'll know when you've beaten him, when his cape flies off, and it is correct that you don't have to drop his HP down to 0 (THANK GOODNESS!). Navi chips I recomend is any navi that can hit a flying guy with perfect accuracy. You may want Roll for healing, but use her only after you've used another Navi (or chip) to drop the shield (unless absolutely necessary)." Dr Zamf writes: "Bass is actually very easy to beat, all you need is 1 program advance and a stand by incase you mess up the timeing. Simply get 'Zeta Cannon' (Cannon, Hi-Cannon, Mega-Cannon) readyed outside of his battle teleport. Make sure to have anouther weapon like Cannon Ball or Tree Bomb (any level will do). After this set up, walk in, activate Zeta Cannon, time your jumps so you fire the second he stops blinking from the 'flinch' of the last shot, and you can take him down. If Zeta Cannon runs out before his interest in the battle does, just pelt him with your stand by weapon, he should be down to ether his last sheild or his second to last shield. If the chips aren't falling your way outside of his chamber, use the sub chip that makes your Custom gadge fill quicker... no sense in standing around all day."
