Introduction MP7INTRO # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Mario Party 7 is a party game, designed mainly for multiple players. The series originated on the Nintendo 64 and became a successful franchise that has gone on until this installment. The game is played on a game board that characters move around on by hitting dice blocks. Each space on the board has different effects on the character and the game. After everyone moves on the board, a minigame is played for coins. The objective of every board is to collect the most stars to become the Superstar. However, how to collect the stars is different on every board... ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 1a. Version History MP7INVER # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Version 1.0 (08/17/06): Hopefully completed. It's hard to believe that this is my first Gamecube FAQ even though I've owned a Gamecube before I owned a Playstation 2. Version 1.1 (08/19/06): Minor fixes. Version 1.2 (11/19/06): Made some minor fixes that were brought to my attention and provided information on the last event space in Windmillville. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 1b. FAQ Progress MP7INPRO # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # The only thing I can think of right now that I might add in the future is a souvinirs section. Other than that, I cannot think of anything else I would like to add to this guide. I would like to refine some of the game board events, but that will only happen through playing the game. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 2. Mario Party Basics MP7BASIC # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # The premise of Mario Party 7 was to design a game that would be fun for multiple players. There are multiple modes in the game that you can play. Some modes are designed for single players while other modes are more fun with multiple people around. When the game is started, you must first choose which save slot you will play as. Once you have done that, you will enter the cruise ship. Toadsworth, the host of the game, will direct you to choose one of the six modes or options. Once you have chosen a cruise or an option, you will be taken into that part of the boat. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 2a. Modes Overview MP7BAMOD # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # There are six modes or options that you can choose at the start of the game. They are listed below along with an explanation of each mode. ------------ Party Cruise ------------ Party Cruise is the main mode of the game. This is where you can challenge three friends or computer controlled characters to a game of Mario Party. You can also team up with friends or with the computer and play a game of team Mario Party. The objective of the game is simple: to collect as many stars and coins as possible. The winner of each board is the person with the most stars. If more than one person has the most stars, then the tiebreaker is the amount of coins a person has. Each board has its own specific set of rules that you must play by. When you start off the game, you must first hit a dice block to determine the order in which each person or team will go. On some boards, it's best to go first. On other boards, it's best to go last. Each board is different, so having the highest roll doesn't always mean you're in the best position to win. After the order has been determined, each person or team will hit the dice block on their turn and then move that many spaces. Once they land on a space, something will happen to that person or team, which is determined by what space they land on. Once everyone has taken their turn, a minigame is played. The minigame is determined by the spaces people have landed on. If everyone has landed on a red or a blue space, then the game will be a 4 Player Minigame. If one person lands on a space of a different color than the other three, than a 1-Vs.-3 Minigame will be played. If two people land on the same color space and then the other two players landed on a different color space, than a 2-Vs.-2 Minigame is played. If any character lands on a green, character, or a DK space, then that person's color is randomly changed to either red or blue. Also, be on the lookout for Battle Minigames and Mic Minigames. These minigames happen randomly throughout the game. After every five turns, it will be Bowser time. Bowser will then do something to mess with the characters on the board. What Bowser does is random and based on what board you are playing on. Also, when there are only four turns left in the game, Bowser will give the person who is in last place a chance to hit a block that will cause a random rule change. At the end of the game, the stars and coins are tallied up. This is also the time that Toadsworth awards bonus stars. If you have chosen to play with bonus stars, Toadsworth will give three stars based on performance. The requirements to obtain one of these stars is random. There are six different bonus stars in all: Minigame Star: This star is awarded to the person who earned the most coins in the minigames. Orb Star: This star is awarded to the person who used the most orbs. Action Star: This star is awarded to the person who landed on the most Question Mark spaces. Running Star: This star is awarded to the person who moved the most spaces in total. Shopping Star: This star is awarded to the person who spent the most coins at the shop. Red Star: This star is awarded to the person who landed on the most Red spaces. At the end, the person with the most stars is declared the Superstar! ----------- Solo Cruise ----------- Solo Cruise is a one on one match against a friend or a computer controlled character. The Solo Cruise is played on the same boards as the Party Cruise. However, the rules are different for the Solo Cruise. Each board has a specific objective that you must complete in order to clear the board. These objectives are listed in Chapter 5. When you start a Solo Cruise, you must register your name and pick a character. You will be using that character throughout the Solo Cruise. If you are playing against the computer, then the computer will pick random opponents to play against you. When you start the Solo Cruise, you and your opponent will hit dice blocks to see who goes first. Once the order has been determined, you will try to complete the objectives of the board. However, when you are playing the Solo Cruise, the game only ends when a person completes the objectives of the board. Also, there are no minigames played after all the turns have been completed. Furthermore, there is no Bowser Time and coin blocks are placed around the board, giving you random amounts of coins. When you complete a board, the amount of turns it took to complete that board is recorded under your name. The person who completes all six boards in the fewest turns is considered to be the Solo Cruise Champion. ------------- Deluxe Cruise ------------- Deluxe Cruise is where you can play various 8 Player minigames. There are four teams of two that play the minigames. The minigames involve two people sharing a controller. One person controls the Control Stick and the L button while the other person controls the C Stick and the R button. You can either play an 8-Player Free Play, where you pick a game and play it or you can play the 8-Player Ice Battle, where you and your partner try to get to the center ice area by winning minigames. These minigames are different from the minigames played in other modes. --------------- Minigame Cruise --------------- The Minigame Cruise is where you can play all the minigames you have unlocked in various challenges. There are six different ways to play the minigames in this mode. The six different ways to play are as follows: Free Play Sub: Pick a minigame and play them. Volcano Peril: You must win a specific amount of minigames before the other people do. The amount of wins a person needs can be 3, 5, or 7. Also, you can choose which types of minigames you want to play. The three options there are the 4 Player Minigames, the 2-Vs.-2 Minigames, or the 1-Vs.-3 Minigames. To play Volcano Peril, you must have unlocked at least one 4 Player Minigame, one 2-Vs.-2 Minigame, and one 1-Vs.-3 Minigame. Waterfall Battle: You must defeat all three opponents in Battle Minigames. If you lose, you are knocked down to the bottom of the waterfall. However, if a back-to-back winner loses, then you are given a second chance. To play Waterfall Battle, you must have unlocked at least one Battle Minigame. Pearl Hunt: In this game, you must open 3 shells with a pearl that has the image of your character on them. To open a shell, you must win minigames. Every time you win a minigame, you are given a chance to open a shell. It's best to remember which shells you have already opened in order to find which shells hold your pearls. There are items in this game that can help or hinder your progress. Mushroom: Lets you open another shell. Super Mushroom: Lets you open two more shells. Bob-omb: Briefly opens the shells surrounding the bob-omb. Whirlpool: Shuffles all shells into a new pattern. To play Pearl Hunt, you must have unlocked at least one 4 Player Minigame. Decathlon Castle: In this game, you climb up a castle, playing various minigames at each floor of the castle. The objective of this game is to score more points than your opponents. The better you perform in a minigame, the more points you score. You can play either up to 5 or 10 minigames. To play Decathlon Castle, you must have unlocked the following minigames: Air Farce Fun Run Helipopper Kart Wheeled Monty's Revenge Pokey Pummel Snow Ride Take Me Ohm Target Tag Track & Yield King of the River: In this mode, you must win a certain amount of minigames in order to reach the treasure. You have three lives, just in case you fail to win a minigame. There are three difficulty levels in this mode. You unlock the Normal Trip after you beat the Easy Trip. You unlock the Hard Trip after you beat the Normal Trip. To play King of the River, you must purchase the game in the Duty Free Shop. -------------- Duty Free Shop -------------- The Duty Free Shop is where you can purchase items, listen to the sound test, view the minigames you have already obtained, view your travel diary, and view all the souvenirs you have purchased or won. I have listed all the items you can purchase from the Duty Free Shop in Chapter 7. The most interesting item of note in the Duty Free Shop is the Travel Diary. This lists all your records from the Party Cruise, the Minigame records, the Decathlon Castle records, and the Staff records. You can view the Staff records after you have purchased them from the Duty Free Shop. ------------ Control Room ------------ This is where you can set various game options. Not very interesting, but it serves an important function. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 2b. Spaces Overview MP7BASPA # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # In both the Party Cruise and the Solo Cruise, the game board is covered in spaces. Every space you land on will perform some kind of event. This section will go over each space in detail. Blue Spaces: If you land on a Blue space, you gain three coins. Red Spaces: If you land on a Red space, you lose three coins. If you do not have three coins, then you lose all the coins that you have. Normally, you do not want to land on these spaces a whole lot. However, if you are playing Party Cruise with bonus stars, then if you land on the most Red spaces, you might obtain the Red Star at the end of the game. Green Spaces with a Question Mark: If you land on a Green space, you will trigger an event. These spaces are also known as Event spaces. The event that will happen depends on the board and the space you landed on. Some events are really good while other events aren't so good. Mic Space: If you land on a Mic space, then you will have the chance to play the Mic Minigame. You can wager any amount of coins that you have up to 99 coins. During the Mic Minigame, you will be shown 3, 4, or 5 cards with pictures of fruit on them. You must memorize these cards and then when the cards are flipped over, you must speak the name of the fruit that is on the highlighted card. If you correctly identify all the cards, then you double the coins you wagered. If you get one card wrong, you will lose all the coins you wagered. Duel Space: If you land on a Duel space, you can challenge another character on the board to a Duel Minigame. You cannot challenge characters who have no stars or coins. If you win the Duel Minigame, you gain the chance to hit a block that will randomly determine what you get from the other opponent. You can win stars or coins. However, if you lose the Duel Minigame, your opponent gets to hit the block. If you hit the block and a Red X appears in the circle, then you gain nothing from your opponent. DK Space: If you land on a DK space, then you get the chance to play a DK Minigame. There are two types of DK Minigames. The first DK Minigame is a Single Player Minigame. You must defeat DK in a minigame in order to obtain a prize. That prize can be 20 coins, 30 coins, or on some boards, a star. The second DK Minigame is a Multiplayer Minigame. In these minigames, you and the other players play a minigame and try to collect the most bananas. After the minigame is over, you can exchange those bananas for coins. The exchange rate can be 1 coin per banana, 2 coins per banana, or 3 coins per banana. No matter which DK Minigame you play, you must admit that DK is a fine bloke. Koopa Kid Space: If you land on a Koopa Kid space, Koopa Kid will attempt to make your life miserable in order to get a raise in his allowance. There are various things that Koopa Kid can do. You can override a Koopa Kid space with your own Character space or Roadblock space. Here is a list of what could happen: Exchange your coins with a random player. Take all coins and redistribute them so everyone has the same amount. Swap your position with a random player. Swap everyone's position. Take all the orbs and give them out at random. Give you a cursed mushroom that forces you to roll a 1-5 next turn. Bowser Space: If you land on a Bowser space, Bowser will stomp on you and force you to play a Bowser minigame. If you lose the minigame, you can lose half your coins, all of your coins, or even a star. There are two types of Bowser minigames. The first type is a Single Player Minigame where only you play the minigame and only you can lose your coins or stars. The second type of minigame is the Multiplayer Minigame, where everyone plays and everyone can lose their coins or stars. Needless to say, you can always sabotage your opponents in a Multiplayer Minigame. Character Space: If you land on your own Character space, then you gain 5 coins. However, if you land on someone else's Character space, then something normally bad happens to you. What happens to you depends on what orb was thrown on that space. Character spaces must be laid by you and the other players. You can override your opponent's Character spaces with your own Character spaces or Roadblock spaces. Roadblock space: If you pass through your opponent's Roadblock space, then something normally bad happens to you. You can pass through your own Roadblock space without triggering the trap. You cannot override a Roadblock space with your own Character space or a Roadblock space. You can only pass through an opponent's Roadblock space if you have used a Metal Mushroom Orb, a Flower Orb, or a Magic Orb. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 3. Characters MP7CHARA # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Mario Party 7 wouldn't be a Mario Party without the cast and crew from various Mario games. Each character has their own specific symbol placed on their character space and their own specific orb. Each character plays the same during minigames, but the types of orbs they obtain in the game can be an influence when deciding which character you want to play as. When in doubt, pick your favorite character! ----- Mario ----- Mario is the flagship character of Nintendo. Throughout the years, Mario has survived as an icon of video games. Mario has appeared in many games throughout the years. He has played golf, tennis, and basketball. He has been a plumber, a doctor, a driver, and a savior of kingdoms. Probably the most recognized figure in video games, Mario has been everywhere and back. It's no wonder he is taking a cruise! Character Space: A red space with an "M". Character Orb: Fireball Orb ----- Luigi ----- Luigi is Mario's brother and is also a plumber. While Mario is out in the forefront battling evil where ever it may strike, Luigi is sometimes just a background character. However, Luigi has been on his own share of adventures and is always ready to put up a fight when he needs to. While Mario normally gets top billing, Luigi does sometimes gain the spotlight. Character Space: A green space with an "L". Character Orb: Fireball Orb -------------- Princess Peach -------------- Princess Peach is the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. She has been Mario's sweetheart throughout the ages. She is the typical damsel in distress, always getting captured by Bowser, waiting for Mario to rescue her. However, recently she hasn't been getting captured by Bowser as much. She recently starred in her own game. Character Space: A crown. Character Orb: Flower Orb -------------- Princess Daisy -------------- Princess Daisy is the Princess of Sarasaland, a desert Kingdom. Daisy is a tomboy in nature and is often considered to be Luigi's girl, but no proof of that has existed. She is, however, appearing in more and more Mario games. I guess Nintendo figures if you don't like a blonde, you might like a redhead. Character Space: A daisy. Character Orb: Flower Orb ----- Yoshi ----- Yoshi is the lovable dinosaur that Mario rode in Super Mario World. Ever since his first appearance in video games, Yoshi has been a popular figure. Yoshi has appeared in many games and starred in a few games of his own. Yoshi is famous for his tongue that can stretch out and eat almost anything and turn that thing into an egg. There are many different colors of Yoshis, although the green Yoshi is the most common. Character Space: A Yoshi egg. Character Orb: Egg Orb ----- Birdo ----- Birdo was a boss in Super Mario Bros. 2. Birdo then disappeared for a little while, although he has appeared in some video games. However, Birdo has been appearing in more video games recently. Birdo's can shoot eggs from his mouth, normally using that as his main attack. You must purchase Birdo from the Duty Free Shop in order to play as Birdo. Character Space: A bow. Character Orb: Egg Orb --- Boo --- Boo is a ghost. They first made an appearance in Super Mario Bros. 3. Normally, if you are facing away from a Boo, they will chase after you. However, if you face a Boo, they will either attempt to hide or cover their eyes and stop moving. Boos come in all sizes, from small Boos to normal Boos to king sized Boos. Boos can also be white or pink, although I'm sure there are more colors of Boos somewhere out there. Character space: A white space with a mouth full of teeth. Character Orb: Magic Orb --------- Dry Bones --------- Dry Bones is a skeleton of a Koopa Troopa. Unlike Koopa Troopas, if you step on a Dry Bones, they will crumble and then reform themselves later on. It is hard to permanently get rid of a Dry Bones. Dry Bones can also throw bones at you in Super Mario World. You must purchase Dry Bones from the Duty Free Shop in order to play as Dry Bones. Character space: Dry Bones' skull. Character Orb: Magic Orb ----- Wario ----- Wario is Mario's evil brother. Wario is greedy, selfish, and all around a not nice guy. He likes to cheat his way to victories and loves to steal. He is basically the opposite of Mario in just about every way. Wario has starred in a few games of his own and has a certain appeal among the general public. Character space: A yellow space with a "W". Character Orb: Vacuum Orb ------- Waluigi ------- Since Mario had an evil counterpart, Nintendo decided to give Luigi an evil counterpart. Waluigi has the same personality of Wario. Waluigi is skinnier and taller than Wario. Even though Waluigi is taller than most of the characters in Mario Party 7, he does not have a jumping advantage (which, in my opinion, makes him jump weird and is harder to jump with in the game). Character space: A blue space with an upside down "L". Character Orb: Vacuum Orb ---- Toad ---- Toad is Princess Peach's faithful servant. Toad is a mushroom that has been around for quite a while, always serving Princess Peach and always trying to make sure she stays out of trouble. While Toad is seen often in games, he is rarely a playable character. Character space: A red and white mushroom. Character Orb: Triple 'Shroom Orb -------- Toadette -------- Since there are a lot of mushroom people in the Mushroom Kingdom, it only makes sense that there would be female mushroom people, right? Toadette is the female counterpart to Toad and is generally considered to be Toad's girlfriend, but not much is known about Toadette. Out of all the characters in the game, she is the one that has just recently came about to being a character in the Mario world. Character space: A pink and white mushroom. Character Orb: Triple 'Shroom Orb ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 4. Orbs MP7ANORB # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Orb in Mario Party 7 are items that you can use to try to gain an advantage over the other opponents. Each orb is unique and has their uses. There are various types of orbs in the game. Some orbs you use on yourself while other orbs are thrown onto the board. Some orbs can only be found on certain boards while other orbs can only be used by certain characters. There are 5 types of orbs in the game: Self, Thrown, Roadblock, Character, and Koopa Kid. I have listed each orb's uses along with my personal ranking of the orb on a scale of 1 to 5. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 4a. Self Orbs MP7ORSEL # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Self Orbs are orbs that you use on yourself. These orbs can help you move more spaces or can provide you protection. These orbs are generally considered to be some of the best orbs, since their use is not based on another character landing on or passing through a space. ------------ Mushroom Orb ------------ Effect: Allows you to hit two Dice Blocks instead of one. Where Found: All Boards Notes: Normally, it's best to uses these orbs when you need to get somewhere in a hurry. If someone is close to a star that you want, these orbs can really help you get there. However, do not uses this orb when near a Thwomp or a Zap Roadblock. Thwomps will make the orb useless while a Zap will just hurt your wallet severely. If you match your Dice Blocks, you will gain 10 coins. My Rating: 4 ----------------- Super 'Shroom Orb ----------------- Effect: Allows you to hit three Dice Blocks instead of one. Where Found: All Boards Notes: What's better than two Dice Blocks? Three Dice Blocks of course. You can really move across a board using this mushroom. Again, do not use when near a Thwomp or a Zap Roadblock. If you match all three Dice Blocks, you will gain 30 coins. My Rating: 5 ---------------- Slow 'Shroom Orb ---------------- Effect: Makes the Dice Block move slowly and in numerical order. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This mushroom is really good if you are trying to land on a space exactly. The trick to this mushroom is to jump right before the number you want. For example, if you want to roll a 10, press the jump button at 9. That way, you will make up for the lag that there is in your jump. My Rating: 5 ------------------ Metal Mushroom Orb ------------------ Effect: Makes your character metal and allows you to pass through Roadblock traps. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This mushroom's value is only based upon the amount of traps on the board. If there are no traps on the board, then this mushroom is useless. Also, it's only really good if you are near a trap, since you are only rolling one Dice Block at normal speed when you use this mushroom. This mushroom should really never be purchased unless you are coming up on a trap you don't want to spring. Normally, this mushroom is worthless, but every once in a while, it's handy for dodging a pesky Zap or Spiny. My Rating: 1 ----------- Flutter Orb ----------- Effect: Flutter will appear and fly you straight to the location of the Star. Where Found: Grand Canal and Bowser's Enchanted Inferno Notes: This is one of the best orbs in the game. If you get one, it's a free star, once you get enough coins to purchase the star. You should never use this star when you do not have enough coins to obtain the star. This one orb can sometimes change the tide of a game. My Rating: 5 ---------- Cannon Orb ---------- Effect: Send you flying at least one level up the mountain. Where Found: Pagoda Peak Notes: The Cannon normally only launches you one level up. However, if you are in the area before the second bridge, then you can normally launch yourself up multiple levels. This orb is useful for getting up the mountain and avoiding traps that you do not want to spring. My Rating: 4 ---------- Lakitu Orb ---------- Effect: Lakitu steals a treasure chest and gives it to you for free. Where Found: Neon Heights Notes: This is normally a good orb to use. However, Lakitu will sometimes bring you the treasure chest with the Bob-omb in it, so be careful. My Rating: 4 --------- Snack Orb --------- Effect: Prevents a Chain-Chomp from stealing your star once. Lasts for three turns or until used. Where Found: Pyramid Park Notes: This is a good orb to protect your stars, but it's hard to gauge sometimes the best time to use it. You may think you are out of an opponent's Chain-Chomp range, then they roll a 30 and run you over anyways. My Rating: 4 ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 4b. Thrown Orbs MP7ORTHR # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Thrown Orbs are orbs that you can throw on spaces on the board to make them your own Character space. You can only throw a Thrown Orb onto a Blue space, a Red space, a Koopa Kid space, or another Character space. When your opponent lands on your Character space, the effects of the orb will trigger. When you land on your own Character space, you gain 5 coins (15 coins if the space triple rule is in effect during the last four turns of a game). -------------- Hammer Bro Orb -------------- Effect: Takes 10 coins from your opponent and gives them to you. If your opponent does not have 10 coins, then you get all the coins they had. Where Found: All Boards Notes: The Hammer Bro Orb is a good orb. However, there are many better orbs that you can throw that can net you more coins. The advantage to this orb is that it is normally cheaper than the other two Thrown Orbs that takes coins from your opponent. My Rating: 3 ----------------- Piranha Plant Orb ----------------- Effect: Takes half of your opponent's coins rounded up and gives them to you. Where Found: All Boards Notes: As long as your opponent has more than 20 coins (which is more often than not), this orb becomes better than the Hammer Bro Orb. My Rating: 4 ------------- Spear Guy Orb ------------- Effect: Takes coins from your opponent equal to whatever they hit on a Dice Block. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This space normally nets more coins than a Hammer Bros orb, but it can also sometimes give you less. Either way, I just find it funnier to watch your opponent get shafted by the Spear Guy. My Rating: 4 --------- Kamek Orb --------- Effect: Gives you up to three Character spaces from your opponent. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This can normally be a good thing, especially if your opponent has some good spaces lying around, like a Pink Boo. However, if your opponent laid very few spaces on the board, then this orb is useless. My Rating: 3 --------- Toady Orb --------- Effect: Takes an orb from your opponent. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This orb rarely appears and can sometimes be useful, but most opponents use the good orbs first. Still, sometimes you can steal a Super 'Shroom or a Flutter, but it's really rare. My Rating: 2 ---------------- Mr. Blizzard Orb ---------------- Effect: Causes an opponent to lose every orb they have in their possession. Where Found: All Boards Notes: It's normally better to take an orb than to cause your opponent to lose all their orbs. This space is rarely useful. My Rating: 1 ---------- Bandit Orb ---------- Effect: Causes an opponent to lose coins from a windmill and gives them to you. Where Found: Windmillville Notes: This orb can have its uses, but normally the amount of coins stolen is insignificant. However, I have seen this orb take away the victory from one person and give it to another person, but it's rare. My Rating: 2 ------------ Pink Boo Orb ------------ Effect: Pink Boo will steal a star from an opponent and give it to you. If the opponent has no stars, then Pink Boo will steal up to 20 coins and give them to you. Where Found: Grand Canal, Neon Heights, and Bowser's Enchanted Inferno Notes: This orb is one of the best orbs in the game. The only downside to this orb is the fact that it's normally the first space that opponent's try to get rid of because it is so powerful. Still, if your opponents are unlucky, you can net a couple of stars from this orb. My Rating: 5 ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 4c. Roadblock Orbs MP7ORROA # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Roadblock Orbs are orbs that lay traps on the game board. When your opponents pass through a Roadblock Orb that you have placed, they will trigger the trap. You can pass through your own traps without worrying about springing them. The only way to pass through an opponent's trap unscathed is to use a Metal Mushroom Orb, a Flower Orb, or a Magic Orb before passing through. --------- Spiny Orb --------- Effect: Causes an opponent to lose 10 coins. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This orb is decent, but the Zap Orb is normally better and is just as common. My Rating: 3 ------- Zap Orb ------- Effect: Causes an opponent to lose 3 coins for each space they move after passing through the trap. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This is the best Roadblock Orb to get. Normally, your opponents will lose more than 10 coins passing through this trap. Every once in a while, they will pass through the trap with only 1 left on the Dice Block, but more often than not, this orb will put a huge dent in your opponent's wallet. My Rating: 4 ------------ Tweester Orb ------------ Effect: Picks up your opponent and drops them onto another random space. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This orb can sometimes be an annoyance to pass through, but sometimes this orb can help your opponents. This orb has a tendency to move your opponents closer to where the star is. The randomness of this orb lowers its effectiveness. My Rating: 2 ---------- Thwomp Orb ---------- Effect: Stops your opponent's movement at the space where the trap is placed. Where Found: All Boards Notes: This orb is useful to keep an opponent from getting somewhere for one turn. It's best placed right in front of an opponent to make sure they are going nowhere the next turn. My Rating: 3 ------------- Warp Pipe Orb ------------- Effect: Moves your opponent to the space they started their movement at. Where Found: All Boards Notes: Normally this trap is just a minor annoyance than anything else. It normally doesn't stop the opponent's movement that much. It can be good if a person was using a Super 'Shroom and passes through the trap, but it doesn't happen to often. On Pagoda Peak, this orb can actually help your opponents if you place this orb near the bottom of the mountain. If your opponent is close to the top of the mountain and rolls high, they can go to the peak of the mountain, get a star, go to the bottom of the mountain, hit the Warp Pipe, and go right back to the top of the mountain. My Rating: 1 ----------- Bob-omb Orb ----------- Effect: Knocks your opponent down one level. Where Found: Pagoda Peak Notes: This orb is best used right below the second ladder. That is because there are no levels below it until you go down to the bottom level. This will send your opponents the furthest down the mountain. Other than that, this orb is really just a minor hindrance at any other place on the board. My Rating: 2 ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 4d. Character Orbs MP7ORCHA # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Character Orbs are orbs that can only be obtained and used by a specific character. These orbs are always self orbs and can have some very useful effects. If you are playing a Team Battle where you share orbs, you can only use the Character Orbs that are specific to your character. For example, a team of Mario and Luigi can use any Fireball Orb that is picked up. However, if the team is Mario and Yoshi and a Fireball Orb is picked up, Mario can use the Fireball Orb but Yoshi cannot. ------------ Fireball Orb ------------ Effect: If you land on the same space as an opponent or pass them, you will throw a fireball at them and take 10 coins. If that opponent has less than 10 coins, then you will take all of their coins. This orb lasts three turns. Used By: Mario and Luigi Notes: This is best used when close to your opponent so that a low roll won't stop you from stealing coins. It's also a good thing that it lasts two turns. My Rating: 3 ---------- Flower Orb ---------- Effect: Allows you to walk on tall flowers that avoid traps and gives you three coins for each space you move. Used By: Peach and Daisy Notes: Normally, this is a good orb to buy since you will normally profit from using the orb. Also, the ability to avoid traps is a plus. My Rating: 5 ------- Egg Orb ------- Effect: Allows you to eat any Character spaces, Roadblock spaces, or Koopa Kid spaces and convert them into orbs and added to your orb collection (Koopa Kid spaces will not be converted into orbs). Used By: Yoshi and Birdo Notes: This orb is only good if there are a lot of Character spaces in a row. Otherwise, it's only useful for getting rid of Koopa Kid spaces, which can be done better with any other Thrown Orb. My Rating: 2 ---------- Vacuum Orb ---------- Effect: Sucks in a random amount of coins from your opponents. The amount of coins is determined by a spinning wheel. Used By: Wario and Waluigi Notes: This orb can be good for getting some coins from your opponents. Remember kids, it's not stealing if the game lets you get away with it. My Rating: 4 --------- Magic Orb --------- Effect: Doubles whatever your roll on your Dice Block for two turns and allows you to pass through Roadblock spaces. Used By: Boo and Dry Bones Notes: This orb is useful for avoiding traps, moving around the board, and lasts for two turns. What's not to love about the orb? My Rating: 4 ------------------ Triple 'Shroom Orb ------------------ Effect: Allows you to hit two Dice Blocks instead of one for three turns. Used By: Toad and Toadette Notes: This orb is really great for moving around the board. The only downside to the orb is that you cannot use any Self Orbs for three turns. This really only comes into play at the end of the game when there are not that many turns left. At that time, it may be better to use other Self Orbs first before using this one to pad your orb count to get the Orb Star. My Rating: 5 ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 4e. Koopa Kid Orbs MP7ORKOO # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Koopa Kid Orbs are a special type of Orb. They are not offered in regular shops to for purchase and if you pick one up from the board, Koopa Kid will automatically appear, take the orb, and throw it at a random spot on the board, causing a Koopa Kid space to appear. Also, if you pass through Bowser's Shop, you may be forced to purchase a Koopa Kid Orb or 20 coins. After you purchase the orb, Koopa Kid will steal the orb from you and throw it at a random space on the board. Koopa Kid spaces summon Koopa Kid to throw some randomness into the game, most of the time at your expense, so it's best to try to get rid of Koopa Kid spaces as soon as possible. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 5. Grand Canal MP7GBGRA # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Grand Canal is a board built along a series of waterways. You must navigate the numerous bridges in order to get to the star. There are many different places where you must choose to go one way or another way, so there are many different paths on the board. Party Cruise Rules: You must go to the star and buy it for 20 coins. Every time the star is bought, it will be placed at a new, random location. Solo Cruise Rules: You must go to the star and buy it for 20 coins. Every time the star is bought, it will be placed at a new, random location. The first person to collect two stars wins. Space Count: Blue Spaces: 47 Red Spaces: 10 Green Spaces: 7 Mic Spaces: 2 Duel Spaces: 2 DK Spaces: 2 Bowser Spaces: 0 Orb Spaces: 3 ------ Events ------ Circus Maximus: Shy Guys will toss coins and spike balls at you. You must try to gather as many coins as you can without hitting the spiked balls. They will stun you temporarily. Leaning Tower: If you stop at the tower with the Event Space on it, the tower will lean and tip you into the water. Cheep Cheeps will then spit water at you and knock you back to start. Gondola Ride: A Shy Guy will offer you a ride to the other side of the board on his gondola. While riding the gondola, you can jump to get coins. If you are playing a Tag Team game, both members of the team can jump to get coins. However, there will also be spiked balls that will be mixed in with the coins, so you must be careful of where you jump. Blooper's Juggling Game: Blooper will put a star, a dark star, and a bag of coins into three treasure chests, leaving a fourth chest empty. He will proceed to mix them all together. Whatever you pick is the prize you get. If you pick the dark star, then you will lose a star. If you are playing a Tag Team game, both members must choose one chest. Suspension Bridge: If you land on one of the two event spaces on the bridge, the bridge will open, sending any characters who are standing on the bridge flying to a new, random location on the map. ----------- Bowser Time ----------- During Bowser Time, Bowser can do any of the following things: Take a picture of everyone and then take 10 or 20 coins. Destroy all the wooden bridges on the map, replacing them with bridges that contain only Bowser spaces on them for three turns. Crush a regular shop and then open up a Bowser shop. --------------- Last Four Turns --------------- When there are only four turns left, Bowser will give the person in last place to attempt to change his fortunes. Here is what that person can get in the randomizer: The number of coins you get or lose by landing on a Blue, Red, or your own Character space is tripled. Ten Koopa Kid spaces will be randomly placed on ten blue or red spaces. All Red spaces turn into Bowser spaces. The player in last place gains 40 coins. The star can be purchased for 10 coins instead of 20. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 5b. Pagoda Peak MP7GBPAG # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Pagoda Peak is a mountain path set in an ancient Oriental setting. You must train your mind and body as you climb up the mountain in order to seek an audience with the wise Master Koopa. If you reach the top of the mountain, Master Koopa will give you a star, provided that you have enough coins to purchase the star. If you don't have enough coins, then you will most certainly realize that poverty is ever the foe. Party Cruise Rules: When you reach the top of the mountain, you can purchase the star for a certain amount of coins. That amount of coins is listed on the roof of the temple. When you purchase a star, you are sent back down the mountain to the starting area and the amount to purchase the star is increased by 10 coins. If you purchase the star when the amount is 40 coins, the new amount to purchase the next star is reduced back to 10 coins. If you do not have enough coins to purchase a star, you are sent back down the mountain to the starting area. Solo Cruise Rules: You must have 100 coins and then reach the peak of the mountain. If you reach the peak of the mountain and you do not have 100 coins, you are given a random amount of coins and then sent back to start. Space Count: Blue Spaces: 23 Red Spaces: 5 Green Spaces: 6 Mic Spaces: 2 Duel Spaces: 3 DK Spaces: 2 Bowser Spaces: 1 Orb Spaces: 3 ------ Events ------ Fireworks: You must choose which rocket you want to strap on to. If you choose the wrong rocket, you will be sent back to start. However, if you choose the right rocket, you will be blasted up the mountain. It has been my experience that the rockets alternate between good and bad, so keep this in mind when choosing. Gongs: If you land on an Event space near a gong, you will be given a chance to change the price of the star. A spinning wheel above the star will start to roll. When you hit the gong, the spinning wheel will stop and land on the new price of the star. You will be then give a random amount of coins by Master Koopa. Waterfall: You will be given a chance to perform jump kicks over a waterfall. As you are jumping across the falls, coins will be dropping from the falls. You must try to collect as many coins as you can. If you hit a log, you will be temporarily stunned. If you collect all ten coins, you will be given a star. If you are playing the Solo Cruise and you collect all ten coins in the falls, you will be given a prize of 50 coins. Burning Statue: A statue of a lion is burning. You must try to put out the statue. If you can succeed in this task, you will be given a prize of a random amount of coins or even a star. Dragon Cannon: Near the peak of the mountain is a dragon's head. If you land on the Event space that is on its tongue, the dragon will eat you and then spit you back to start. ----------- Bowser Time ----------- During Bowser Time, Bowser can do any of the following things: Take a picture of everyone and then take 10 or 20 coins. Destroy a bridge on the map for one turn, forcing people to stop on the space right before the destroyed bridge Cause everyone to fall down one level of the mountain. Pyramid Park MP7GBPYR # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Pyramid Park is a board designed in the desert. There are many sand whirlpools to look out for, as well as the dangerous Chain-Chomps. However, if you pay the Chain-Chomps enough money, they will help you in taking stars from your opponents. Party Cruise Rules: Everyone starts off with 5 stars. You must steal stars from your opponents by using the Chain-Chomps. Solo Cruise Rules: A bandit has stolen a star from the Bowser Sphinx. You must stomp on the bandit with a Chain-Chomp and then return the star to the Bowser Sphinx. If your opponent gets the star first, you can still use the Chain-Chomp to steal the star from your opponent. Space Count: Blue Spaces: 45 Red Spaces: 9 Green Spaces: 7 Mic Spaces: 3 Duel Spaces: 5 DK Spaces: 2 Bowser Spaces: 2 Orb Spaces: 4 ------ Events ------ Sand Whirlpool: If you land on an Event space that is on one of the floating rocks above one of the two sand whirlpools, the rocks will crumble into the whirlpool and transport all players that were on the rocks to the other side of the board. Monty Mole: Monty Mole will give you a chance to hit cobra snakes for coins. Snakes will pop out of three vases and you must hit the snakes. However, if you hit Monty Mole, the game is over. Oasis: You can swim in the oasis and go after coins. However, there will be alligators that are trying to bite you while you are collecting coins. The alligators will stun you and make you lose coins. Bowser Sphinx: If you land on the space near the Bowser Sphinx, the Bowser Sphinx will divide everyone's coins evenly. If you are playing Solo Cruise, you must return to the Bowser Sphinx in order to win a star. -------------- Special Events -------------- Chain-Chomp: If you pass by an arrow near a Chain-Chomp and you have enough coins, you will be able to ride the Chain-Chomp in hopes of getting stars from your opponents. One Dice Block is worth 10 coins while two Dice Blocks are worth 20 coins. There is also a special Red Chain-Chomp that will allow you to roll 3 Dice Blocks for 20 coins. Whomp's Roadblock: If you want to take the path that the Whomp is blocking off, you must give Whomp ten coins. This area is the only area that a Chain-Chomp cannot reach, so sometimes it's best to hide in this area. ----------- Bowser Time ----------- During Bowser Time, Bowser can do any of the following things: Take a picture of everyone and then take 10 or 20 coins. Take one star from the leader and give it to Koopa Kid. Koopa Kid will then stand on a spot on the map. If anyone stomps on Koopa Kid with a Chain Chomp, that person gets the star. Create a sandstorm that destroys both bridges for three turns. Chain-Chomps are half price. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 5d. Neon Heights MP7GBNEO # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Neon Heights is a board set on a movie studio. There are a lot of little games that you can play on the board and not all of them require you to land on a space exactly. This board has a lot of action going on and a lot of places to earn coins at. Party Cruise Rules: There are three treasure chests randomly placed around the board. One chest holds a Bob-omb that will send you back to start. One chest holds 20 coins. The final chest holds the star. You must give Koopa Kid 10 coins for the opportunity to see take what is inside the treasure chest. Once the star is found, three new chests will appear at random on the board. Solo Cruise Rules: There are eight treasure chests located around the board. Five of the chests hold stars and three of them hold Bob-ombs that will send you back to start. The starting price to open up a treasure chest is 5 coins. However, this price will increase by 5 coins every time a new treasure chest is opened. The first player to find three stars wins. Space Count: Blue Spaces: 46 Red Spaces: 10 Green Spaces: 4 Mic Spaces: 2 Duel Spaces: 3 DK Spaces: 2 Bowser Spaces: 2 Orb Spaces: 4 ------ Events ------ Match Game: On the screen, there are 9 pictures. You must match identical pictures together. You will only get to see them very quickly, so make sure to pay attention when they give you the opportunity. The more pictures you match, the more coins you get. If you match the 8 pictures that have a match, you get a star. However, if you flip over the Bowser picture, you will lose 10 coins and the game is over. If you are playing a Tag Team game, then when the first player loses, the second player has a chance to match the remaining pictures. Rocket Ship: You must pump fuel into the rocket in order to make the rocket go into space. This is not so much about pressing the button as fast as possible as it is finding a rhythm to the pumping. The higher you go in the rocket ship, the more coins you will collect. If you are playing a Tag Team game, then both players can pump fuel into the rocket ship. This gives you the chance to get the star that is at the top of the line of coins. UFO: A UFO will appear and switch the location of all the remaining treasure chests on the board. If you are playing a Solo Cruise, the UFO will take you to another location on the board. -------------- Special Events -------------- Shooting Gallery: When you pass by the arrow to the shooting gallery, you will automatically get a chance to play this minigame. Here, you must shoot all the Koopa Kids pictures without hitting any of the Toadsworth pictures. You get one coin for each Koopa Kid you hit. If you hit a Toadsworth picture, the game is over and you get no coins. If you are playing a Tag Team game, both players with get a chance to shoot at the Koopa Kids at the same time, making it much easier to hit all of them. Home Run Derby: If you pass by the arrow at home plate, you are given a chance to play Home Run Derby. Here, you must swing at baseballs thrown at you by a pitching machine and try to hit home runs. You get two coins for every home run you hit. If you are playing a Tag Team game, both players will stand at the plate at the same time, just in different batters boxes. There will be two pitching machines throwing two baseballs. Watch out, as some baseballs go really fast while others can go really slow. ----------- Bowser Time ----------- During Bowser Time, Bowser can do any of the following things: Take a picture of everyone and then take 10 or 20 coins. Take one star from the leader and put it in the treasure chest with the star. Replace the treasure chest with the Bob-omb with a treasure chest with a dark star in it that will take away one of your stars. Take 20 coins from everyone and add them to the treasure chest with the 20 coins in them. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 5e. Windmillville MP7GBWIN # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Windmillville is set in a Holland type setting. Everything on the game board is green and full of life. This board plays different from most other boards. On this board, there are multiple windmills throughout the board. Each windmill has a star value to them. The objective is to visit the windmills and put coins into them for the desired effect. Party Cruise Rules: Each windmill has a certain star value to them. The person who places the most coins within the windmill gets all the stars in that windmill. Solo Cruise Rules: All the windmills are broken and you must repair them by placing coins into them. One star windmills need 20 coins to be repaired, two star windmills require 30 coins, and the three star windmill requires 50 coins. The player who repairs three windmills wins the game. Space Count: Blue Spaces: 45 Red Spaces: 7 Green Spaces: 2 Mic Spaces: 2 Duel Spaces: 4 DK Spaces: 2 Bowser Spaces: 2 Orb Spaces: 4 ------ Events ------ Trampoleaf: If you land on the top Event space, you get to play Trampoleaf. Here, you must ground pound the leaf below you in order to spring up into the air and collect coins. Try to aim for the money bags, as they are worth more coins. If you are playing a Tag Team game, you both can play Trampoleaf at the same time. Sheep: Mariofan150 says that during this event, you try to herd sheep into a pen and you get coins for each sheep you herd. -------------- Special Events -------------- Windmills: If you pass by the arrow near a windmill, you get a chance to deposit coins into that windmill. The person with the most coins inside that windmill is the owner of that windmill and gets all the stars inside that windmill (or in the case of Solo Cruise, the person who repairs the windmill gets credit for it). If you are playing Party Cruise and someone else owns a windmill, you can deposit more coins than your opponent into that windmill and become the new owner. Open Flowers: On the board, there are open and closed flowers. You can only walk on top of the open flowers. When you walk on top of an open flower, that flower closes and the flower along the other path opens. This can change the pathways on the board and prevent people from getting to certain windmills, so think strategically when you are moving throughout this board. Flower Ride: If you pass the arrow near the big flower at the top of the board, you can have a chance to ride a flower for 10 coins. These flowers can take you to may different areas on the map. However, this is random, so you just need to hope that the flower will take you where you are going. This is especially useful to get to the three star windmill in the center of the map. ----------- Bowser Time ----------- During Bowser Time, Bowser can do any of the following things: Take a picture of everyone and then take 10 or 20 coins. Crush a windmill, take all the coins that were inside that windmill, and replace it with a new windmill with 0 coins in it and no owner. Koopa Kid will take some coins from one windmill. This will not change the owner of the windmill. Bowser's Enchanted Inferno MP7GBBOW # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # Bowser's Enchanted Inferno is like the amusement park from hell. It is built over a lava bed and is full of surprises, most of them bad. This board has four islands at each of the four main compass points. What's worse is that during Bowser Time, Bowser will sink the island with the star on it, causing the star to move and pain for anyone on that island. Party Cruise Rules: You must go to the star and buy it for 20 coins. Every time the star is bought, it will be placed at a new, random location. Solo Cruise Rules: You must go to the star and buy it for 20 coins. Every time the star is bought, it will be placed at a new, random location. When you have a star, you must return to the starting location and challenge Bowser to a minigame. That minigame is called Bowser's Lovely Lift. If you lose the minigame, you lose your star and must get a new star. Also, whatever level on the lift you ended on is where the lift will start the next time someone plays the minigame. The player who wins the minigame will win the game. Space Count: Blue Spaces: 32 Red Spaces: 9 Green Spaces: 11 Mic Spaces: 2 Duel Spaces: 1 DK Spaces: 1 Bowser Spaces: 0 Orb Spaces: 2 ------ Events ------ Cannons: On each island is a cannon that will fire you to a new island if you land on the Green space near the cannon. Sumo Wrestling: If you land on an Event space on the north island, you will sumo wrestle with Koopa Kid. The trick is to find the rhythm to the button mashing. Tapping the button as fast as possible will not get you the star. You must find the rhythm to the game. Either way, if you win, you get 10 coins. If you lose, you lose 10 coins. If there is a tie, no one loses or gains coins. If you are playing a team game, when one person loses or ties, the next person tries to knock Koopa Kid off. A loss is still 10 coins per person, but a win is 20 coins. Roller Coaster: If you land on the Event space on the western island, you can ride the roller coaster. If you jump while riding the roller coaster, you can collect coins above. When playing a team game, both players are riding the roller coaster at the same time collecting coins. Pedestal Jumping: If you land on the Green space near the pedestals on the south island, you can try to hop from pedestal to pedestal in hopes of getting a star. You can either choose the top pedestal or the bottom pedestal. If you choose the right one, you can move on. If not, you fall into the lava and lose 10 coins. If you choose right 3 times, you get a star. If you are playing teams, when one person falls into the lava, that person loses 10 coins. Then it is your partner's turn to try. However, all the pedestals that fell into the lava will remain in the lava, giving you a better chance to get the star. Klepto: Klepto will move the star's location. Flamethrower: If you land on the Green space near the Bowser head, the mechanical Bowser will spit fire out at all five spaces near it, causing everyone who got burned to lose five coins. In team games, the amount of coins lost is ten. ----------- Bowser Time ----------- During Bowser Time, Bowser will sink the island that has the star. The star will move to a new location and any players that were on the island will be sent back to start with half of their coins gone. You will not be able to enter that island until it rises back up. ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6. Minigames MP7MINIG # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # The most fun part about any Mario Party game is the minigames. The minigames in Mario Party 7 range from fun and enjoyable to bland. There is definitely a wider mix of games than in Mario Party 5, but not as varied as Mario Party 6. Also, the Mic games in this Mario Party are a major step up from Mario Party 6. I will list each minigame, the rules for the minigame, as well as tips to win at the minigame. I will rank each minigame on a scale of 1 to 5 in terms of both fun and challenge factor. Remember, these are my personal opinions only and are only there to inform people as to which minigames may be enjoyable and which may not be as fun to play. If the game is a Coin minigame (meaning that however many coins you collect during the game is how many you get as a reward), I will list it as such next to the name of the game. Here is an example of the formatting I will list each minigame: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Catchy Tunes Fun: 4 Challenge: 2 Rules: Collect all five different types of notes before your opponents do. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: Sometimes, you just need to jump on your opponents to get a nice boost up to the notes. Make sure you know which notes you need, as the game can be very hectic in nature. The last one standing wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move B: Punch My Tips: As soon as the match starts, start punching the closest person. Keep punching that person until they fall out of the bubble. If you land a punch on a character, that character will be stunned and will not be able to fight back, allowing you to punch them again. Just be careful that after you knock a person out of the bubble that you don't follow them out, as you will be close to the edge then. When playing a Tag Team battle, it's best to knock out your opponents and then let you and your teammate just wait until the 60 seconds are up, since you will both get coins that way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Track & Yield Fun: 4 Challenge: 5 Rules: Jump over the hurdles and avoid getting knocked off the conveyer belt. Last person on the conveyer belt wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: There are two types of hurdles in this game. The regular hurdles will do nothing to you if you run into them. They will just push you backwards. However, the electrified hurdles will shock and stun you, causing you to be pushed further back. The trick to this game is to jump high enough to clear a hurdle, but not high enough to run into the next hurdle. The best position on the belt is the middle of the belt. That way, you can see the next hurdle without being too close to the edge. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Fun Run Fun: 4 Challenge: 4 Rules: Avoid obstacles as you run up the stairs of the tower. First one to cross the finish line wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: To get the best time possible, stay along the center path and avoid jumping. Only jump over obstacles that are in your way. When you reach the sections where the floors fall out, try to jump just high enough to clear the falling floor tile. As for the walls sections that push out at you, try to stop right before you walk in front of the wall section. That way, you do not have to inch up closer to the section to make it pop out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Cointagious (Coin Minigame) Fun: 1 Challenge: 1 Rules: Jump and hit the box. Whatever number the box lands on is the amount of coins you get from the box. Controls: A: Jump My Tips: This is a completely luck based game and a boring one at that. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Snow Ride Fun: 3 Challenge: 4 Rules: Travel down the snowy slopes avoiding pipes and going through gates. First one to cross the finish line wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: Of course, the best way to get a fast time is to avoid hitting anything. Remember, the opening is not flush against the wall. There is a small section along the wall that juts out that can catch you if you are not careful, so clear each gate near the middle of the gate. Sharper turns cause you to lose speed, so make gradual turns whenever you can. Of course, near the end of the course, the only way to clear the gates without hitting anything is to make sharp turns. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Picture This Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: Stop your picture book on the same picture that is displayed in the middle of the screen. The first person to match three pictures wins. Controls: R: Turn the page forward L: Turn the page backwards A: Select picture My Tips: There are three different types of picture books. It's best to memorize the picture book so that you have a good sense of where the picture is when it is displayed. A quick way to flip through the pages is to press the L or R button in just enough to where the page flips. You do not have to press the buttons all the way down to cause a page to flip. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Ghost in the Hall Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: Make your way out of the haunted house. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: It has been my experience that once you reach the center of the house, the far right path going north is normally ghost free up to a certain point, and even then, there is normally just one ghost there. This is normally the easiest and quickest way out of the haunted house. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Big Dripper Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Collect more honey than your opponents. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Duck My Tips: When the bees are about to come out, try to duck underneath one of the honey spots. That way, you can collect honey while you are ducking. Normally, the bees will do one fake out during the match. Try to stay in an area that you can run to multiple honey spots really quickly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Target Tag Fun: 4 Challenge: 3 Rules: Hit targets to collect points. The person with the most points wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: Whatever you do, do not hit a Bowser target. You will lose all your points. Aiming for 50 point targets is a good thing, but if the 50 point target is out of the way, then you may just want to settle for a 30 point target. Remember, two 30 point targets is worth more than one 50 point target. It's not always best to fight over a target that you may or may not get when you can collect targets without a fight. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Pokey Pummel Fun: 2 Challenge: 3 Rules: Hit all the parts of the Pokey. First person to finish wins. Controls: A: Swing Hammer My Tips: If you played Mario Party 5, then you are probably well versed in the Mario Party button mashing games. To get a low score (sub 5 seconds or lower), you must learn how to vibrate your finger quickly (or another object). My technique is to take the nail of my finger and rub it quickly over the A button. I still haven't determined if it's faster to go completely across the A button or to just go part of the way across the A button, but then again, I really haven't made many tests on this theory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Take Me Ohm Fun: 5 Challenge: 4 Rules: Jump over the electrical shocks that are sent out by the Thwomps. The last person left standing wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: It may seem easier to jump multiple shockwaves at once, but it's safer to jump them one at a time whenever possible. Granted, when you have five Thwomps coming down at almost the same time, you need to jump multiple electric waves at once, but for the earlier stages, sometimes it's better to jump each wave individually. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Kart Wheeled Fun: 4 Challenge: 4 Rules: Cross the finish line in your Go-Kart first. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Accelerate My Tips: Try to avoid contact whenever possible. Normally, at the starting line, there will probably be a huge pile up right away. Also, try to cut turns as close to the walls as possible without hitting them. Since the karts have a wide turn radius, you may have to go wide entering a turn to cut the turn close to the walls. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6b. 4 Player Mic Minigames MP7MG4PM # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Balloon Busters Fun: 3 Challenge: 2 Rules: Be the person hiding behind the protective shield when the balloon pops to win. Controls: Mic – Say "Bigger": Make balloon get bigger. Mic - Say "Stop": Stop blowing into the balloon. My Tips: You must try to gauge how big to make the balloon as to where it will pop as soon as the next person in line blows into the balloon. You must always blow at least once into the balloon. It's best early on to blow up the balloon all five times. Afterwards, you must try to predict when the balloon will burst and then blow into the balloon until one more blow will make it explode. The only time you are behind the protective shield is when the person behind you is blowing into the balloon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Clock Watchers Fun: 2 Challenge: 3 Rules: Stop the timer at the target time. The person closest to the target time wins. Controls: Mic - Say "Start": Starts the timer. Mic – Say "Stop": Stops the timer. My Tips: Sometimes, it's best to having a ticking clock in the room so that you can still time the seconds when the window of the timer closes. Shorter times are normally easier to gauge than longer times, since there is more time for you to lose track of time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Dart Attack Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Hit the targets with the darts and score the most points to win. Controls: Mic – Say "Fire": Fires a dart. My Tips: There is lag between the time you say "Fire" to the time that the game recognizes that you actually said "Fire", so keep that in mind. You must time your darts carefully so that it gets past the slow moving 10 point target. It's sometimes risky to go after the 50 point target, since the only thing behind it is the 0, but it's normally worth it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Oil Crisis Fun: 4 Challenge: 3 Rules: Move your car along the track, collecting fuel. The person who crosses the finish line wins. If no one crosses the finish line, the person who went the furthest wins. Controls: Mic – Say "Right": Moves your car right. Mic – Say "Left": Moves your car left. Mic – Say "Mushroom": Gives you a boost of speed. My Tips: You only get one mushroom per run. Always go after the fuel tanks, but avoid going after the fuel tanks that are close to oil slicks. Oil slicks will causes you to massively slow down, draining your fuel supply. If you are about to run into an oil slick you can't dodge, use your mushroom. Also, if you are about to run out of gas, use your mushroom before you do. Remember, there is lag between the time you say a command and the time that it actually is executed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Mathmortician Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: Hit the most pink boos to win. Controls: Mic – Say "1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6", "7", "8", or "9": Fires a bullet at the number said. My Tips: Regular pink boos are worth one point. Boos with crowns on are worth three points. Always try to go after the pink boos, since there are three of them that will come out. That is nine points right there. When a boo is about to come out, the candle at the far right or the far left will light up next to where the boo will come out, so anticipate shooting that number quickly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6c. 1-Vs.-3 Minigames MP7MG1V3 # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: La Bomba Fun for the 1 Player: 2 Challenge for the 1 Player: 3 Fun for the 3 Players: 3 Challenge for the 3 Players: 3 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to eliminate all three opponents by dropping bombs on them. Try to aim for the boxes that will drop 2 or 4 bombs on your opponents. Also, try to trap your opponents in corners by dropping bombs near them while they are in a corner. My Tips for the 3 Players: Since you cannot jump, you must avoid being trapped in a corner. That is not to say you cannot go into a corner, but you just cannot go into a corner that have bombs waiting on the other side. Also, you have to worry about not hitting the spinning spikes that are around the map. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Spray Anything Fun for the 1 Player: 2 Challenge for the 1 Player: 4 Fun for the 3 Players: 2 Challenge for the 3 Players: 3 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to avoid getting hit for 30 seconds. Rules for the 3 Players: Hit the one opponent with a water ball. Controls for the 1 Player: Control Stick: Move Controls for the 3 Players: L and R: Circle the ring A: Fire My Tips for the 1 Player: The water balls are slow, so use that to your advantage. Do not hang around the edge of the ring. Try to stay near the center so that you have more room to dodge shots. If you are really bold, try to lure an opponent into a water ball of his ally to stun him. Remember, when a cannon fires a shot, it cannot fire again until his water ball has disappeared off the screen, so use that cool down time to cross in front of their cannons. My Tips for the 3 Players: Since you fire slowly, the best time to shoot is when your opponent is near the edge of the ring and near your cannon. You must wait for your water ball to disappear before you can fire again. Also, you want to avoid running into a water ball that your ally has shot, or your will be stunned. It's kind of hard to aim directly for your ally, since the water ball moves so slowly. If they run into a water ball, that's one thing. However, if they stand there and let a water ball hit them, then your ally deserved to be shot. So don't worry so much about hitting your allies. You want to focus on dodging and hitting the 1 player. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Balloonatic Fun for the 1 Player: 3 Challenge for the 1 Player: 4 Fun for the 3 Players: 4 Challenge for the 3 Players: 2 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to avoid letting your balloons get hit by the cannonballs for 30 seconds. Watch for where the targets are aiming at and avoid them. Remember, the cannon balls have an upward trajectory when they are heading for your balloons, so it's best to descend to dodge than ascend. My Tips for the 3 Players: Try to predict where your opponent will go and lead your shots. The cannonballs have a bad habit of flying in between balloons, so if this is happening to you, just be patient and continue what you are doing. Your opponent will eventually stop lucking out and you will hit the balloons. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Spinner Cell Fun for the 1 Player: 4 Challenge for the 1 Player: 2 Fun for the 3 Players: 3 Challenge for the 3 Players: 4 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to eliminate all three opponents by hitting them with the spiked spinner. My Tips for the 3 Players: Try to have one player act as a decoy while the other two hide off in the other direction. The worst thing that could happen is to have two players get knocked off at the same time. You can jump over the bumper spinner, so use that to your advantage. If you can split the two spinners apart, you are already ahead of the game. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Think Tank Fun for the 1 Player: 4 Challenge for the 1 Player: 1 Fun for the 3 Players: 3 Challenge for the 3 Players: 5 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to eliminate all three opponents. The smaller tanks are faster than you, so you can't chase them. You must get those tanks that are stationary first. If you can eliminate one or two tanks, the game is pretty much over for the remaining players. My Tips for the 3 Players: Obviously, this game heavily favors the one player, but that doesn't mean the three players can't win. One person will have to run distraction while the other two pummel the big tank. When the big tank focuses on your tank, start moving and avoid getting hit. When the big tank is focused on another tank, start firing shots like crazy. Use the barrels to your advantage to avoid shots. If it's a one on one battle, odds are, you are going to lose, so try to keep everyone alive. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Flashfright Fun for the 1 Player: 3 Challenge for the 1 Player: 1 Fun for the 3 Players: 2 Challenge for the 3 Players: 5 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to shine the flashlight on the three players. You do not want to have them run around in circles, as that diminishes the range of your flash light. If you can trap them behind a Shy Guy statue, then you've pretty much caught your opponent. My Tips for the 3 Players: The trick to this game is to avoid going to the Shy Guy statues. They do not offer as much protection as you may think. Instead, you will want to run around the center bridges. The bridges provide more protection than the statues. If you run around in a circle across the center bridge and then across a side bridge, hopefully, you can survive long enough. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Coin-op Bop (Coin Minigame) Fun for the 1 Player: 2 Challenge for the 1 Player: 2 Fun for the 3 Players: 2 Challenge for the 3 Players: 1 Rules for the 1 Player: Hit the buttons as they appear on the machine. The trick is to move as little as possible while swinging at the most rocks. If you move up one spot, swing at all the rocks around you, then move up another spot and swing at all the rocks around you, you cut down on movement and increase swinging. My Tips for the 3 Players: It takes three swings of the pickaxe to break a rock, so be quick with the button tapping. Again, try to cut down on the movement to increase the amount of swings. Move up one spot, swing at all the rocks in the vicinity, then move up another spot and repeat. If you spend more time swing and less time moving, you will break more rocks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Pogo-a-Go-Go Fun for the 1 Player: 3 Challenge for the 1 Player: 4 Fun for the 3 Players: 4 Challenge for the 3 Players: 3 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to make all three opponents fall into the holes. Try to keep your opponents crossing that slim path by constantly rotating the stage so they have to cross it. The more often they have to cross that slim path, the more chances you give them to fall into one of the two big holes. My Tips for the 3 Players: The only trick here is to just avoid the holes. Cross over paths that are wide and avoid the two slim paths near the big holes if at all possible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6d. 1-Vs.-3 Mic Minigames MP7MG13M # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Wheel of Woe Fun for the 1 Player: 4 Challenge for the 1 Player: 4 Fun for the 3 Players: 3 Challenge for the 3 Players: 3 Rules for the 1 Player: Try to eliminate all three opponents. Reversing the field after releasing a Chain Chomp will really confuse your opponents. However, after you release a Chain Chomp, it takes a little while for another one to be ready for release. Use this time to fire Bullet Bills. My Tips for the 3 Players: The stage is very small and there are holes in there for you to fall through. Plus, the Chain Chomps are hard to dodge. It's easy to dodge and has loads of lag time. You just open yourself up by using that move. Instead, use Rotate and Double Punch. If one of your opponents are close to one of your fists, punch them with that fist. My Tips for the 3 Players: Most of the punches are easy to dodge. The trickiest tiles to get are the lower most corners. Get those quickly and then focus on the rest of the tiles. Remember, when the robot rotates, you must jump over the rotating arms twice. The best way to do this is to send a lot of slow moving sea creatures such as the Bloopers and the Cheep Cheeps before using a Lakitu or a Sushi. This way, your opponents have to dodge the fast moving items while the slow moving items are still in the water. My Tips for the 3 Players: There really aren't very many safe places to hide in the water. You can't really hide near the top because of Lakitu and you can't hide near the bottom because of the shark, so you are just going to have to improve your avoiding skills. Try to find holes within the slow moving sea creatures so that you have space to avoid the fast moving objects. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: StratosFEAR! If there is a Bullet Bill above a player and a Bullet Bill heading straight for a player, it's kind of hard to dodge them both. The Thwomps don't fall fast enough and they are too spread out no matter what number or shape you say. Just hope that your opponents can't platform jump. My Tips for the 3 Players: This is easy considering the fact that it takes forever for a Thwomp to fall. The final stage is facing off with a really big spider. The small spiders die in one shot while the large spiders die in three shots. The really large spider takes a lot of hits before it falls over dead. When the really large spider's eyes turn red, that means the spider is almost dead. All the spiders shoot webs that will stun you. The really large spider can charge at you and stun you that way. If the large spider charges at you, move out of the way or move into the far corners of the stage to avoid him. Also, avoid hitting your partner with your fire, as it will not only stun your partner, but prevent your shots from hitting a spider. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6f. When a mole goes after your head at one hole, move to the other hole and stick your head out of that one. I tend to stay at the bottom of the level at the two holes at the star points. Other than that, this game is based on luck and luck alone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Air Farce Fun: 2 Challenge: 5 Rules: Move your glider across the screen. The glider that goes the furthest along the path wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: There is some trick to this game that I haven't figured out yet, although my roommate is really good at the game. I never really sat down and figured out the physics of the game. I know the game involves precise up and down movements without moving up or down for too long. One of these days, I might sit down and figure the game out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: The Final Countdown Fun: 4 Challenge: 4 Rules: Knock the enemies off the game board. The last player standing wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump B: Punch A -> B: Jump Kick My Tips: The numbers on the ground tells you when the panel will open. If a panel hits 0, the panel opens up and sends anyone standing on that panel to the bottom. The trick is to try to punch your enemies either off the side or onto panels that are about to open up. If you land a punch or a kick, your opponent will be temporarily stunned, which is perfect if they land on a panel that is about to hit 0. Of course, try to avoid moving onto panels that are almost at 0. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6g. Duel Minigames MP7MGDUE # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Warp Pipe Dreams Fun: 3 Challenge: 4 Rules: Make your way through all the warp pipes to find the warp pipe that will take you to the center warp pipe. The person who enters the center warp pipe wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: This game is partially a luck game. However, there is skill involved in this game if you analyze the game. Each warp pipe has a specific destination that does not change. Therefore, if you jump into a warp pipe that does not lead to the center warp pipe, then you can not only eliminate the pipe that you just jumped into, but also the pipe you just jumped out of. If you have a good memory, you can eliminate pipes that you jumped in or out of so you don't jump into them again. This way, you are always jumping into a new pipe and increase your chances of finding the correct pipe. While I normally hate luck games, I do like luck games that have some skill involved in them, like this one. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Weight for It Fun: 4 Challenge: 2 Rules: Hit the weighted balls over to your opponent's side. The player with the most balls on their side at the end of the time limit wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Swing mallet My Tips: If you get hit by a ball, then you will be temporarily stunned. If a ball hits another ball, that ball will begin moving also. It is possible to hit one ball and knock two of them into your opponent's territory. Keep track of the time and try to knock balls into your opponent's area in the last seconds to prevent your opponent from hitting them back to you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Mad Props Fun: 3 Challenge: 4 Rules: Move your boat down the river and cross the finish line first to win. Controls: L: Control left propeller R: Control right propeller My Tips: If you press both the L and R button at the same time, you will move in a straight line. If you press one or the other, then you will turn in that direction. It is normally hard to see where you are going since the screen doesn't show much, but you can generally follow either the coastline or the middle of the river to your destination. The coastline is harder to follow since there are a lot of rocks along the coastline. However, if you look at the middle of the river, there is a path of dark blue that can act as a guide for you to move your boat along. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Gimme a Sign Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: A Shy Guy will hold up a sign that corresponds to a platform on the river. That platform will then sink into the river. The first person to drop into the river loses. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: The longer the game goes on, the faster the Shy Guy goes, so watch out. If both you and your opponent are standing on the same platform, odds are, the Shy Guy will call that platform. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Bridge Work Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Avoid Cheep Cheeps that jump out of the river and onto the bridge. The first person to get hit by a Cheep Cheep or fall into the river loses. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: The bigger Cheep Cheeps are harder to avoid. Don't get too close to the edge or you might fall into the river. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Spin Doctor Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Move across the bridges from one side to the other. The first person to cross the finish line wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: There are some areas where the path will be blocked off. The red platforms spin in three directions while the blue platforms spin in four directions. The blue platforms are preferred since you know that whatever direction you are going, you will get there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Hip Hop Drop Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Press the button that is on the ground to move across that platform. The first person to cross the finish line wins. Controls: B, A, Y, X, L, or R: Press as it appears My Tips: This game is a simple press the given button. If you press the wrong button, you will fall through the platform and lose time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Royal Rumpus Fun: 2 Challenge: 1 Rules: Ground Pound the Goombas. The person who Ground Pounds the most Goombas wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump A -> A: Ground Pound My Tips: You can Ground Pound two Goombas at once, but it's hard to. Don't try to aim for that, or else you might end up missing both Goombas. One Golden Goomba will appear during the match. That Goomba is worth three Goombas, but it moves faster than the other Goombas. It's normally best to only go after it if it's close to you. Otherwise, you might waste time chasing it down and missing it while your opponent is getting more points. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Light Speed Fun: 4 Challenge: 1 Rules: Move your hovercraft across the board, changing the lights to your color. The person with the most lights changed to his color wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: Once you gain the lead in terms of color, follow your opponent around the board, changing whatever they lights they change back to your color. The four teleport pads may send you to another part of the board, but they are also slow, so avoid them whenever possible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Apes of Wrath Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: Run around the obstacle course while the monkeys try to catch you. The first player to be caught by a monkey loses. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: Try not to get caught on the platform that moves up and down. Also, getting cornered is not a good idea. The monkeys can jump, so remember that. As time progresses, more monkeys will appear. Do your best to lure the monkeys chasing you to your opponent so that he can deal with that problem. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Fish & Cheeps Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Avoid Cheep Cheeps as you swim through the river. The first person to get hit by a Cheep Cheep loses. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Swim My Tips: The best place to stay is near the middle. That way, you can see which direction most of the Cheep Cheeps are going. Try not to get pressed towards the sides, as that cuts off one direction that you can go. The Cheep Cheeps do move through the water, so watch their movements and swim through the gaps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Camp Ukiki Fun: 4 Challenge: 2 Rules: Run through the obstacle course and avoid falling off. The first person to cross the finish line wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: The first part of the obstacle course is weaving in and out through pillars, which is easy. The next part is jumping from platform to platform. This can be tricky sometimes, but this shouldn't be too badly. The next part is jumping over some steps. Try to jump two steps at a time. After that, you must jump up some logs to a zip line. Here, you must jump each log at a time. Once you go down the zip line, you reach the last part. Here, you can either go up the ramp or you can jump across a couple of platforms. If you are in the lead, it's best to take it safe and jump up and down the ramps. However, if you need to make up some time, it's best to jump across the platforms, since the finish line is after this section. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6h. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: Try to time your jumps to try to hit the banana bunches. You can move around a little while in the air to try to change your trajectory. If you land on a banana peal, you will slip and fall and be stunned for a bit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Stump Change Type: Multiplayer Minigame Fun: 1 Challenge: 1 Rules: Move your barrel around the stump collecting bananas. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: The center of the stump holds a banana bunch. It is normally worth it to try to get this, as it's the only banana bunch on the stump. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Jump, Man Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: Avoid the barrels as you climb up the stage. The first player to make it to the top wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: If a barrel hits you, you will be stunned. You can jump on top of the barrels. When you are climbing the ropes, make sure you climb all the way to the top of the rope. Otherwise, you might not be able to jump far enough and fall down a level. When you reach the top level, you must jump on top of the box that is producing the barrels. The best way to get up there is to jump on top of the barrels. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Vine Country Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Climb the vine as fast as possible. First player to the top of the vine wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move to the other side of the vine A: Climb My Tips: If you are a fast button masher, it's easy to leave DK in your dust. Avoid anything that may fall by switching sides. If you get hit by a falling item, you will be temporarily stunned. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: A Bridge Too Short Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 1 Challenge: 1 Rules: Pick a bridge and attempt to cross it. If a section of the bridge falls out, you must cross the other bridge. First person to cross the finish line wins. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: It is best at the beginning to pick whichever bridge DK picks. If DK crosses the bridge, keep following DK. When DK picks a wrong bridge, he will be stunned when the section falls out. Use this stun time to go across the right bridge. DK will pause a second when choosing a bridge, so if DK chose three right bridges, use this pause time to get ahead of DK on the bridge. Of course, if he picks four right bridges in a row, then you are just unlucky. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6i. Bowser Minigames MP7MGBOW # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # There are two types of Bowser Minigames. There are Single Player and Multiplayer Minigames. The Single Player Minigames is just you trying to complete some stunt. The Multiplayer Minigames have the four players trying to survive an obstacle course filled with traps and hazards. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Funstacle Course! Type: Multiplayer Minigame Fun: 3 Challenge: 4 Rules: Survive Bowser's crazy obstacle course while Koopa Kids are behind you trying to hit you with flamethrowers. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: There are five parts to the obstacle course. The first part is avoiding Thwomps falling from the sky. The second part is a series of ledges that move up and down. Do not rush the first jump, as sometimes you may think you can make it, but then the ledge moves up and you fall into the hole. You do have some time to wait and time your jump. The third section involves crossing small beams while the Koopa Kids are behind you trying to roast you. The fourth section has spiked pillars coming directly at you. There is always one spiked pillar that is faster than the others, so do not be surprised by it. The final section has the Koopa Kids firing fireballs at you. They will either fire two or three fireballs. You can jump over the fireballs, but the fireballs have horrible collision detection, so be careful. After this, you cross the finish line. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Funderwall! Type: Multiplayer Minigame Fun: 3 Challenge: 2 Rules: Move up the chain link fence while avoiding the spinning spikes and the Koopa Kids shooting flamethrowers. Controls: Control Stick: Move My Tips: When a Koopa Kid is about to fire his flamethrower, his cursor will glow red. The cursor will remain red until he stops shooting. Once the cursor glows green, it's safe to cross the cursor's path. The Koopa Kids do fire in the same pattern, so if you can memorize it, this challenge is easy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Magmagical Journey! Type: Multiplayer Minigame Fun: 2 Challenge: 3 Rules: Jump from pillar to pillar while avoiding the Koopa Kids shooting fireballs. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: It's best to not chance getting hit by a fireball and avoid crossing paths with the Koopa Kid's cursor. It's also best to stay near the middle of the screen, so that you can plan your jumps across the stage. Avoid getting jumped on or jumping on the other players, as it can cause you to fall into the lava. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Tunnel of Lava! Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 1 Challenge: 2 Rules: Find which Mechanikoopa has the key by jumping on top of them. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: Since the mechanical Koopas move around in a circle, it's easy to jump from Koopa to Koopa without hitting the ground. When the Mechanikoopas glow red, they are about to spit fire. If you step on one of them while they are glowing red, you will be stunned. There is enough time to get rid of all the Mechanikoopas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Treasure Dome! Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 1 Challenge: 2 Rules: Open each treasure chest and get all the keys until the fifth treasure chest is opened. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Try key My Tips: Honestly, the only way to lose this game is to have really bad luck. If the first key doesn't open up a chest until the last try, then you might be in trouble. Otherwise, it's hard to lose as long as you don't lose track of which chests you tried. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Slot-O-Whirl! Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 1 Challenge: 1 Rules: Match three key symbols on the slot machine. Controls: A: Stop wheel My Tips: Once you get the easy first wheel done, you can just rapidly press the A button to get the last two key symbols. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Bowser's Lovely Lift! Type: Single Player Minigame Fun: 2 Challenge: 3 Rules: Hit the dice in the four corners to move the lift up that amount of floors. When the lift goes to floor 100, you win. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Jump My Tips: Patience is the key for this game. It's best to avoid getting hit by Bowser and Koopa Kid and wait for them to stop firing their weapons. Once that happens, you should be able to hit at least one Dice Block until they resume fire. Play defense before going on the offensive. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6j. Rare Minigames MP7MGRAR # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Ice Moves Fun: 4 Challenge: 2 Rules: Push the puck into the opponent's goal. The most goals win. Controls: Control Stick: Move A: Speed up My Tips: This is ice hockey Mario Party style. If you are playing one on one, it's best to try bank shots. If you are playing two on two, one person should be on offense while the other person defends the goal. To get a faster hit, speed up into the puck by hitting A near the puck. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Stick and Spin Fun: 5 Challenge: 5 Rules: Try to clear off as many balls as possible by connecting five balls of the same color. Controls: Control Stick: Spin stage A: Drop ball My Tips: This is a fun little puzzle game. The basic concept of the game is to try to connect five balls of the same color to eliminate those balls. If you are playing a one player game, as you increase in levels, new balls will appear with their own set of rules. If you are playing a two player game, you must get rid of the numbered balls by connecting five balls of the same color adjacent to the numbered balls. When you do that, the ball will go over to your opponent with a higher number on it. The number indicates how many matches you must make adjacent to the ball before it disappears. If you connect more than five colored balls near the numbered balls, the balls will increase in size when they are sent to your opponent. This is definitely a fun game for puzzle lovers, but the game really isn't for those who are color blind (like me). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ######### ----------------------------#------------------------------------------------ Mario Party 7 # FAQ/Strategy Guide # 6k. 8 Player Minigames MP7MG8PL # -------------------------#--------------------------------------------------- # 8 Player Minigames can be played in the Deluxe Cruise mode. In the descriptions below, Player 1 controls the Control Stick and the L button while Player 2 controls the C Stick and the R button. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Real Smoothie Fun: 2 Challenge: 1 Rules: Each person must take the correct fruit that they are assigned. The team that collects the most fruit wins. Player 1 Controls: L: Grab fruit Player 2 Controls: R: Grab fruit My Tips: Player 1 must grab all the oranges while player 2 must grab all the strawberries. If you grab the wrong fruit, your character must place the fruit back, which takes up some time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Synch-row-nicity Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: The first boat to cross the finish line wins. Player 1 Controls: Control Stick: Move paddle Player 2 Controls: C Stick: Move paddle My Tips: The objective of this game is not to move the sticks as fast as possible. The objective is to move both sticks together in a rhythm. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Grin and Bar It Fun: 2 Challenge: 2 Rules: Jump over the bar when it passes under. The last person not hit by the bar wins for the team. Player 1 Controls: L: Jump Player 2 Controls: R: Jump My Tips: The bar is not straight. The bar has some bend in it, so each person on a team will not be jumping at the same time. If you are hit by the bar, you are eliminated. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Hammer Spammer Fun: 3 Challenge: 2 Rules: Avoid the hammers that the Hammer Bros. throw on the field. Last person not hit by a hammer wins the game for the team. Player 1 Controls: Control Stick: Move Player 2 Controls: C Stick: Move My Tips: If you are hit by a hammer, you are eliminated from the game. When the Hammer Bros. leave their platforms, that means they are about to use their giant hammers. Watch for the shadows and find the spaces that the hammers will not hit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Gimme a Break Fun: 1 Challenge: 4 Rules: Weather the conditions and stop before going off the edge. The person closest to the edge wins. Player 1 Controls: L: Brake Player 2 Controls: R: Brake My Tips: The conditions change for each play through. There could be rain or snow on the ground, which means you will have to brake sooner than normal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Bumper to Bumper Fun: 4 Challenge: 3 Rules: Bump your opponents of the edge of the platform. The last person left wins for the team. Player 1 Controls: Control Stick: Move Player 2 Controls: C Stick: Move My Tips: Try to avoid the edge as much as possible. When there are 8 people on the platform, things can get hectic. Also, the platform tilts as the match goes on. If an opponent is near the edge, try to bump them off. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Duct & Cover Fun: 2 Challenge: 3 Rules: Be the first to seal up all the leaks on the pipe and win. Player 1 Controls: Control Stick: Move B, A, Y, X, L, or R: Press as indicated Player 2 Controls: C Stick: Move B, A, Y, X, L, or R: Press as indicated My Tips: This is the only 8 Player Minigame that uses the B, A, Y, and X buttons. One person needs to be aware of what buttons need to be pressed when going up and down the pipe. Each leak requires a different button to be pressed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Real Smoothie Fun: 2 Challenge: 1 Rules: Pass the Bob-omb around the circle and be the last person standing. Player 1 Controls: L: Pass Bob-omb Player 2 Controls: R: Pass Bob-omb My Tips: When the Bob-omb explodes, it takes out any adjacent players. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Unhappy Trails Fun: 2 Challenge: 3 Rules: Each team must traverse the narrow trail to open the treasure chest and return with the jewel. First person to cross the finish line with the jewel wins. Player 1 Controls: Control Stick: Move Player 2 Controls: C Stick: Move My Tips: The trail is very narrow, so be sure to stay on the trail. If you fall in, you will lose a lot of time. You must take the key from one side to the other. Once the key is used to open the treasure chest, you must take the jewel back across the trails. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game: Shock Absorbers Fun: 3 Challenge: 3 Rules: Hit the button that lights up in order to avoid being shocked. Last person not shocked wins the game for the team. Player 1 Controls: Control Stick: Hit button Player 2 Controls: C Stick: Hit button My Tips: You only have a certain amount of time to hit the flashing button before you are shocked.
