Contact Information --------------------------------- | | | FAQ Intro | | | --------------------------------- Well, If you're reading this, then you've probably already read another one of the more thorough FAQ's, but being a newbie to the Harvest Moon series, I learned most all things quickly, such as crops, fertilizing, animal care, wooing a wife, etc... The only thing is that no matter how many times I tried, all of my efforts in cooking resulted in an unknown dish which tasted horrible. I especially didn't like the game referring to my dish as "Failed Cooking". Regardless, I've scoured many web pages and put together this FAQ so that frustrated would-be chefs around Forget-Me-Not Valley can savor that taste of good food with my FAQ! --------------------------------- | Introduction | | to | | Cooking | --------------------------------- ***PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU CONTACT ME WITH QUESTIONS, AS MOST QUESTIONS I*** ***AM ASKED ARE ANSWERED HERE AND IT GETS PRETTY ANNOYING AFTER A WHILE.*** Well first of all is the Introduction to Cooking. There are 5 types of meals you can cook. Only 2 are available from the start: Soup and Salad. The other 3 you can unlock are Hors D'Oeuvres, Entrees, and Desserts. The easiest way to unlock these three choices is to plant about 30 Sweet Potatoes or 30 Turnips, then make Yam Soup or Light Pickles, which only need one ingredient. The lists that follow tell the order that the foods are to be put in and the resulting dish. It's fairly simple, but you HAVE To put the ingredients in in the correct order or else you will get "Failed Cooking", which really sucks, because it's nasty to eat, and is worth pretty much nothing, and you just wasted the ingredients, which sometimes are VERY valuable. The "$$$$" listed in each table represents the sale price of a dish that you would get from Van. RareTrees and RareCrops are made by mixing 2nd Gen. Hybrids to make a corresponding "Rare" piece of produce. Mushrooms indicates that any mush- room in the game may be used. Listed are the hybrids needed to make the crop. When recipe calls that 2 ingredients are the same, ex: Veg 1, Veg 2, they still must be a DIFFERENT vegetable/fruit. VERY IMPORTANT: R.C. or R.T. indicates a "Rare Crop" or "Rare Tree", respectively. --------------------------------- | Crops | | List | | | --------------------------------- | | | | | | Veg.1 | Veg. 2 | RootVeg.1 | RootVeg.2 | Fruit 1 | Fruit 2 | --------|-----------|--------------|-----------|------------|---------| Tomato | Berrytoma | Carrot | Bashber | Apple | Appage | | Cabber | Potato | Bashota | Banana | Gehju | | Caberry | Sweet Potato | Beryber | Grape | Jurum | | Camelo | Turnip | Beryto1 | Melon | Lanmuge | | Dhibe | | Beryto2 | Orange | Magenge | | Dhilon | | Cady | Peach | Magerum | | Gretoma | | Kandy | Strawberry | Orahge | | Melotoma | | Kanro | Watermelon | Oraphu | | Tomaca | | Kashry | | Phuju | | Trady | | Melober | | Phurum | | | | Paberryta | | | | | | Potamelo | | | | | | Radita | | | | | | Raury | | | | | | Sholo | | | | | | Tataro | | | | | | Tobatama | | | | | | Yamato | | | --------------------------------- | 2nd Gen. | | Hybrid Crops | | List | --------------------------------- | | | | | | Crop 1 | Crop 2 | Hybrid | Seasons | Rate |Class| -----------|----------|---------|---------|------|-----| Carrot |Potato |Tataro | Win-Sum | Fast |Root | |Strawberry|Caberry | Aut-Spr | Fast |Vine | |Turnip |Cady | Win-Sum | Fast |Root | |Watermelon|Cabber | Spr-Sum | Slow |Vine | -----------|----------|---------|---------|------|-----| Melon |Tomato |Melotoma | Spr-Aut | Slow |Vine | |Sw. Finished all the basics I wanted to go over. Still have to add how to get RareCrops and RareTrees; otherwise this FAQ isn't fully helpful. Version 1.00 - March 29, 2004-First Complete Version. Fixed a few typo errors and corrected some spaces that shouldn't have been there. Fixed Table of Contents and make new spaces where RareTrees and RareCrops will go. I will try to update that ASAP. Version 1.10 - March 30, 2004-Added Origins of RareTrees. Didn't have time to update RareCrops, but I will try to in the next couple days. I also fixed a few more "meespellings". Version 1.11 - March 31, 2004-Made a title box for RareCrops for when I get time to fill them in. Also Updated the "Introduction to Cooking" section. Fixed many spacing errors between title bars and text within sections. Version 1.20 - April 4, 2004-Reworked whole FAQ in Microsoft Wordpad to eliminate errors in spacing for people who have newer than Win98 and don't have Notepad. Also fixed a few little things. Version 1.21 - April 5, 2004-Now that my FAQ is finally posted, I can rework spacing/tab errors. Also fixed a few things. I will try to update RareCrops by tommorrow. Version 1.22 - April 6, 2004-Fixed "Sweets" and "Appetizers" to in-game terminology (Deserts and Hors D'Oeuvres) for more realism. Will have RareCrops finished for tommorrow. Also corrected more things with help from seanbadNT. Verion 1.30 - April 7, 2004-FINALLY finished RareCrops. Now that I've finished everything I initially set out to do, Updates will be less frequent. (Once every week or two). Version 1.40 - April 8, 2004-Added 2 new sections. 2nd Gen. Hybrid Crops and 2nd Gen. Hybrid Trees List may help those of you who don't know how to make the necessary ingredients for a recipe. Also corrected Table of Contents, and other minor things. Version 1.41 - April 8, 2004-Alphabetized the 2nd Gen. Hybrid Crops and 2nd Gen. Hybrid Trees lists. Added more details for 2nd Gen. Hybrid Trees and RareCrops. Correct LOTS of LITTLE errors with help from seanbadNT. Version 1.42 - April 12, 2004-Eliminated some spacing errors and added necessary info to Introduction to Cooking. Reworked ASCII title to center it a bit more. I plan to add a few more sections in the near future. ^_^ Version 1.50 - April 14, 2004-Added New Section, RareTree Checklist. All the info comes from seanbadNT. I tweaked it to the look and flow of my FAQ and it is now a permanent section. A RareCrop Checklist is soon to follow. Keep those new section suggestions coming people! Version 1.51 - April 18, 2004-Tweaked some very minor things. Had to remove e-mail address, because of SPAM and a virus! Some people ruin it for everyone. Version 1.60 - July 13, 2004-Added a few little things and tweaked some more. Been a while since I updated, I know. I've been busy working on something "bigger". Version 1.70 - Added one small paragraph to "emphasize" some anxiety of questions people ask me. You know who you are. Deleted "checklists" as they are kinda pointless, and I didn't have time to finish them anyways. --------------------------------- | | | Contact Information | | | --------------------------------- Well, This FAQ is FINALLY OVER. It took me 6 Hours just to get the 1st draft arranged for the world to see! Well, if you have any questions/comments, or want to suggest additions, contact me on AIM, my screen name is: SuperMario1024. Feel free to IM me anytime I am online. I unfortuanetly had to take down my e-mail link due to (arg...) SPAM and a VIRUS! Well, the only way you can ask questions now is through AIM, so there! Don't even try to e-mail my old e-mail address, as e-mails WILL NOT BE RESPONDED TO! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2004 Tre' E. I give a special thanks to FeosMiao for making his walkthrough for me to base the look of mine on. And also his Hybrid Lists. I refered to them for certain crops/trees that I didn't yet have in my game. Sincerest Gratitude! A special thanks to seanbadNT for the RareTree Checklist, the helpful feedback, and always checking my FAQ for errors.
