INTRODUCTION- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hello and welcome to this FAQ for the minigames from Donkey Konga. Donkey Konga is a brilliant game, where you control the game with the use of a bongo controller. This is very fun to use, and if you can get another 3 sets of bongos, then it is ideal for parties. This FAQ will tell you how to access the minigames that are in Donkey Konga, and how to master them with some hints and tips. If you see any mistakes, or would like to contribute something to the FAQ (credit will given where due), then feel free to email me at (carter12.faqs@gmail.com). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -2.COPYRIGHT- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This FAQ is Copyright 2003 Thomas Carter. They add an unusual twist the game, which is a ncie bonus. All of the three minigames use the the bongo as the controller, and it works as a superb tool to control the games. The games utilise all of the features on the bongos, left tap, right tap, together tap and the clap feature are present in all of the games. The minigames are not available at first, but they can be purchased from DK Town in the main menu. The games are located under the "Monkey Shine" icon. The games cost different prices, and have to be brought with the coins earned from your attempts at songs in the main game. To play the games you need to go to the "Ape Arcade" section on the main menu. The games are as follows, with a brief explantion and cost:- -Bash K. Rool ------------- Slam King K.Rool back into the ground. Go for high scores! - Cost: 5800 coins - Players: 1 -Banana Juggle -------------- Juggle bananas and set records -Cost: 5800 coins -Players: 1 -Vs. Banana Juggle ------------------ Compete at juggling, only one ape can win -Cost: Free, comes with Banana Juggle -Players: 2 -100m Vine Climb ---------------- Climb vines and collect fruit to set records -Cost: 4800 coins -Players: 1 -Vs.100m Vine Climb ------------------- -Cost: Free, comes with 100m Vine Climb -Players: 2 Well with the games list sorted, and how to buy them, lets get into how to play them. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -5.WALKTHROUGH/TIPS- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= --------------- -Bash K. Rool --------------- Controls - Left Bongo - Left hole Right Bongo - Right hole Together - NOT USED Clap - Centre Hole Aim of Game ----------- In this game your aim is to take out King K.Rool when he pops his head out of the 3 holes in the ground. To take K.Rool out you use the bongos, which in turn sends the Barrel Hammer crushing down. As the hammer is very heavy, try not to get it in the wrong hole else it takes valuable time to bring back up. Also be extra careful for young Diddy Kong, who after about half way through the game pops his head up. Do not hit him, or you will lose points. Time Limit: 60 seconds Game Screen ----------- _________________________________ / | T | | S | \ | |___| |___| | | | T - Time limit | | S - Score | H | H - Holes where K.Rool and Diddy appear | | TP - Today Top Score | | | H H | | | | | | | | | \__________________________TP_____/ Hints and Tips -------------- - Be quick but be careful not to hit Diddy Kong - Around 20 seconds in, Diddy well start appearing, until this time you are safe from hitting him. - K.Rool sometimes breifly comes part way up a hole, but then choses another, be weary of this. - Try not to make a mistake because it takes time to lift the hammer up. - Each time you hit K.Rool, you will recieve 1 point. - After about 30 seconds the game will speed up, and a message saying "Speed Up" will come across the screen. - Hover your hands over the bongos so that you do not accidently make a mistake. ---------------- -Banana Juggle ---------------- Controls - Left Bongo - Pass the banana Right Bongo - Toss Banana Together - NOT USED Clap - New banana Aim of the Game --------------- In this game you get to have ago at juggling. May sound complicated, but the bongos make a nice introduction into this. Your aim is to get bunches of bananas flying through the air, the more bananas in the air, the more points you will score. However, drop any bananas, and the amount will be deducted from your total score. Time Limit: 77 seconds Game Screen ----------- _________________________________ / | T | | M | \ | |___| |_B_| | T - Time limit | | M - Maximum bananas had in the air | | B - Bananas used | | A - Amount of time thrown | | DK - Donkey Kongs location | A | D - Diddy Kongs location | | TP - Todays Top Score | D DK | | | | | | | \__________________________TP_____/ Hints and Tips -------------- - Start off with about 3 bananas, and when you feel comfortbale, clap, to get another banana and build on that. - Try and get a rythm going, and then you will be able to get more bananas - Watch out for Diddy Kong, as he randomly gives you another banana, which can sometime break you rythm. - Be careful not to register a clap when you don't need to, as Diddy will give you a banana, and maybe break your chain. ------------------ -100m Vine Climb ------------------ Controls - Left Bongo - Move left Right Bongo - Move right Left and Right Bongos - Slide Down (Together) / Climb (Alternate) Clap - NOT USED Aim of the Game --------------- In this game you have to use the bongos to climb to the top of the vines (100m) and collect fruit on the way up. This game is technical to get to grips with, but after a while you get used to the controls, all though in my opinion, the controls are a bit dodgy on this game. Each piece of fruit counts as 1 point, and bunches of bananas count as 5 pieces of fruit. If an enemy hits you, you will fall down, not to the bottom though. Time Limit: None Game Screen ----------- ___________________________________ / | |__M__| \ | | | | | | | M - Height in meters | | | | V - Vines | ------ | | | | ------ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | V | | | | | | | | | | \___________|_______|_______________/ Hint and Tips ------------- - Watch out for the enemy, the lizards and bugs that crawl in your path, swing out of the way to avoid them, or you will fall. - When you see a piece of fruit, go forit, however, watch out for the enemy. - When alternating between both bongs to climb, try not to tap both together else you will begin to slide down. - If you miss a piece of fruit, hold both left and right bongos to slide back to pick it up. - If you get stuck underneath a block of vegetation, then use either the left or right bongo to swing to the nearest vine. - You can only climb with both arms and legs on a vine. For the two multiplayer games, the controls are the same, and the screen layout and objectives are also the same. There is just a more competitive edge to it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -6.
