If your inventory is full, you can either leave the item on the ground or make room for it by dropping another item. -Checking the Map- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Look at the map of the entire town. Use the Control Stick to move the cursor over the map. This way, you can see the names of all the buildings and animals in each acre. From here press the A Button and a little list of options will be displayed. Choose "Drop" and the item will be set down, but remember that there must be enough room where you are placing the item. -Picking Up Furniture- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Stand in front of the piece of furniture you want to put away, and press the B Button. The item will go back into your inventory. -Using Furniture- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Some items such as the television, radio, speed bag, et cetera can be used. Press the A Button or title the Control Stick when facing the item. -Moving Furniture- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Tilt the Control Stick while holding the A Button to move or rotate furniture in your room. You must have enough space to do this. An icon will appear on-screen near the X Button if the letter can be accented. Press the X Button to change the accent on that letter. -Switching Keyboards- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can use three different keyboards to write your letters: the letter keyboard, the punctuation keyboard, and the icon keyboard. Press the Y Button to switch between the three. -Changing Key Layout- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can arrange the letters on your keyboard screen in the same order as a standard keyboard, but if you're not familiar with a standard keyboard, just press the Z Button to rearrange the letters in alphabetical order. -Spacing and Carriage Returns- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ To type a space, you can either press the R Button or select "SP" on the keyboard and then press the A Button. To enter a carriage return, either press down on the + Control Pad or Choose "<--|" on the letter keyboard and press the A Button. -Editing- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Use the + Control Pad to move the cursor to any spot you want to change, and then just type or delete letters as needed. -Writing a Letter!- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ --Choosing Stationary-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Select some stationary from your inventory screen and choose "Write Letter". When your stationary pops up on-screen, choose the recipient's name from the list. --Write Your Letter-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Enter your message. Once you finish writing the message, you will return to the item screen. The letter you wrote will appear as a blue letter icon in your letter inventory. --Attach Present-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you want to include an item in a letter, grab it from your inventory, drag it to the letter and press the A Button. --Rewrite Letter-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can re-write letters you've finished writing. To change the recipient, place the cursor next to the recipient's name and press right on the + Control Pad. --Mailing Letter-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Drop off the letter at the Post Office, and you're done! The recipient might even send back a response. If you ever want to meet new people and see new places, you can visit another town using a Memory Card that contains a friend's town data. There are two ways to travel to another town. -Talking to Porter- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you want to take a trip, go to the train station and talk to Porter, the attendant. ºººBefore you travel, check your Animal Crossing clock and Nintendo GameCube system clock to make sure the time settings between your town and your destination are roughly the same. If the two time settings are very different, your turnips might go bad or an item you've sent might not reach its destination. -Differences in Towns- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ While visiting another town, you will notice some differences between that town and your town. Some differences include the villagers, the items at Tom Nook's store, the on trees, the paths, et cetera. Look for other differences. Some things in other towns may seem similar to those in yours. -Going Home- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ When you are ready to head back to your town, go to the train station and talk to Porter again. When you get back home, be sure to talk to your Gyroid and save your progress! If you reset or quit without saving after you return from traveling, you will lose all of the Bells and items you were carrying. Always talk to your Gyroid and save after you've been traveling. This will also load any patterns you are carrying. Follow the same steps you do on the Nintendo GameCube to create a new pattern. -Load Design- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Talk to Mabel at the tailor's shop while your Game Boy Advance is connected to the GameCube with the power turned on. Select "Other Things," "Design Advance," and then "Load Design." The patterns you created on the Game Boy Advance will be sent to the Nintendo GameCube. The new patterns are saved on your pattern list in the item screen. [7-D] *~~Sleep Mode~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ When you're done playing your Game Boy Advance, press Select to enter Sleep Mode. Sleep Mode turns the screen off while keeping the power on, helping to save battery power. -Entering Sleep Mode- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Press the Select button to bring up a screen. Select "Yes" to enter Sleep Mode. If you select "No", the game will resume. While considered "cheating" by the majority of the people, some people say they have good reasons for time traveling. When you have to go on a trip, during Christmas, New Years Eve, your birthday, et cetera, most people decide to time travel. It is because of this that many things may occur in your game that you might not be satisfied with. If someone misses a gift/item that they were supposed to receive in the game, they should keep it that way and just wait until next year, it only makes the game more realistic, however, some people just have to get their hands on the gift/item. They then decide to time travel. It is then that the consequences come into play. Some of the consequence include: -Massive weed (NO, not drugs...) all over the ground. -Cockroaches in your house. -People move away. Those are some of the consequences that you might have to face for LONG "time travels". Select "I'll buy it!" to purchase the item or "Never mind..." to decline. The store changes its stock every day. If you don't find anything you want, try coming back the next day. -Sell Items- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Sell your unwanted items to make some money. Once you've sold an item, you can't cancel the transaction, so be careful. Make your selection with the A Button, or use the X Button to select multiple items and sell them all at once. -Catalog- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ See a complete list of items you've purchased or received in the past. Select an item from the list to place a special order. Select the tabs on the right or press the R Button to switch the type of items being displayed. -Turnip Prices- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Check the price of turnips-it changed daily. Be sure to check the price before you make the sale-if you're not careful, you could wind up losing out! -Creating Your Own Secret Codes- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Sometimes, you want to give your friend an item that you have, but you just can't deliver it in person, and your friend isn't able to pick it up. That's when Tom Nook's shipping service comes in handy. You can take any item you have in your catalog to Tom Nook's shop and trade it in for a secret code that you can tell to your friend. Your friend will then be able to use that code at Tom Nook's shop in his or her town to receive the item in exchange. -Creating Secret Codes- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Choose "Other Things" and then choose "Hear Code." Tom will ask you for the item and the town and player name that your friend is using. He will then give you a secret code that only your friend in that town can use! Of course, once you give the item away, it's gone for good (or so you may believe...)! You can tell your friend to re-enter that code over and over and he'll receive the item again and again. The person your trading with can then trade the item back so that both of you will have the item. Another thing, you can't trade with someone who has the same town name as you. -Using Secret Codes- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If your friend gives you a secret code for you to use in your town, simply visit your local shop and talk to Tom Nook. Choose "Other Things" and choose "Say Code." After you say the secret code, Tom Nook will give you the item. [10-B] *~~The Post Office~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can send letters and pay off your home loan at the post office. Go to the counter and talk to the clerk to bring up the menu. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- WHEN TALKING TO PELLY/PHYLLIS... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- When talking to Pelly/Phyllis, the following appears on-screen. =_MENU_= ¯¯¯¯ -Mail Letter -Deposit -Save Letter -Nevermind... -Mail a Letter- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ To hand a letter to the clerk, select it from the letter list on the item screen. If the shelf behind the counter is full, you can't send any more letters. Walk out and then go back in. You can send letters from your post office only to the residents of your town or the Farway Museum. -Pay Off Your House- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Select "Deposit" to pay off part of your loan. Decide how much you want to pay with the control stick, and select "End" to pay off your house. Talk to Tom Nook once you've finished paying off your loan. He'll be thrilled to upgrade you to a bigger house! -Save Your Letters- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can save up to 160 letters on one town's Memory Card. -The e-Reader(tm)- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Your local post office has its very own e-TM, or e-Transfer Machine. This nifty machine will decode the data on your Animal Crossing e-Reader cards (sold separately) and transfer it to the Nintendo GameCube game, allowing you to receive letters and presents from some of your favorite characters. The e-TM is easy to use. First, insert the e-Reader into your Game Boy Advance and connect it to your Nintendo GameCube using a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable. (The Game Boy Advance, e-Reader and Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance cable are all sold separately.) Next, stand in front of the e-TM and press the A Button. You must prepare your e-Reader to scan your Animal Crossing e-Reader cards, so choose "Prep e-Reader" from the menu. Once you have downloaded the card reading program to your e- Reader and Game Boy Advance, you can use it to scan e-Reader cards anywhere in Animal Crossing as long as you don't turn your Game Boy Advance off. Once the e-Reader is ready, choose "Read Card." Prepare the e-Reader to scan your card, and then just swipe the card. The e-TM will then decode the data on the card and mail it to your house. But if you happen to have an Animal Crossing e-Reader design card (sold separately), you can immediately get a fine design straight from the e-Reader card! First, insert the e-Reader into your Game Boy Advance and connect it to your Nintendo GameCube using a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance cable. Next, go to the Able Sisters, tailor shop. Talk to Mabel and choose "Other Things." You'll have to get your e-Reader ready to transfer design data, so choose "Prep e-Reader." Follow the instructions on your Game Boy Advance screen, and then swipe your card through the e-Reader! You can transfer the design from the e- Reader card to your Nintendo GameCube game by dropping it onto one of your 8 available patterns. Just remember-you'll have to sacrifice one of your 8 designs to save it. -If You Talk to Mable...- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ --Create a Pattern-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Select a place to store your pattern. The wishing well can also tell you about the state of your town. If you know where the recipient lives, you can hand over the item by visiting that town. Go to these acres and cut down trees, plant flowers, pull weeds out, et cetera. Remember to this everyday, as much as possible. -Apologize- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ When you have a villagers item in possession and are unable to deliver it because that villager has moved out, go here. You throw it in the Wishing Well and apologize. You are then relieved of your guilt and depression. =P -What is this?- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Nothing much, you just get a brief description of what the Wishing Well is... [10-F] *~~The Dump~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Drop off items you no longer need here. They'll stay in the dump until the next garbage-collection day. Make sure to check the dump daily, there will sometimes be items that can be very valuable. When visiting a friend's town, check the dump for any items too. Older messages get deleted as new messages are posted. Once you post a message, you can't delete it, so be careful what you write! Any special town events will be posted on the bulletin board, so be sure to check it frequently. [10-J] *~~The Town Tune Bulletin Board~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can compose and change the tune that plays every hour in your town and whenever you talk to the other townsfolk. Press start and choose "Yes" to use the music you composed or choose "Throw it out" to undo your changes. When you change the music, the previous tune is deleted. The problem with Crazy Redd is the fact that he overcharges you for every product. When you visit Crazy Redd you should have a large some of bells because you'll want to buy all of the items he has for sale. If you don't buy the items at that given time, you might not see them again for a very loooong time! 02) Name: Totakeke (K.K. Slider) Use: K.K. Slider also known as Totakeke, is the dog that likes to play music on his guitar. K.K. Slider comes around your villager every single Saturday from 8:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M.. Every week, depending on how many players live in your village and how many towns you can visit will determine the amount of songs K.K. Slider will give you. Every person is given a song a day but some people aren't satisfied with that and visit other towns and obtain songs from the three other players in the town. When K.K. Slider gives you a song, you will be able to play it in your home and only in your home. You can play up to three different songs at a time...in the basement, first floor, and second floor. Below is the complete list of 55 songs that K.K. Slider will play throughout your adventure. 03) Name: Wendell Use: This animal loves fish, and ONLY fish. Try giving him some unique fish such as a Red Snapper. He'll eat the fish and give you a very rare carpet in return. Wendell only gives one rare carpet per visit so keep that in mind. Remember not to feed him any other kind of food, he'll just eat it and give you nothing in return. 04) Name: Saharah Use: Ugh, this bitch (excuse the language) is a rip-off and a half!!! She likes to sell carpet and it doesn't come cheap. When you visit her take at least 100,000 - 200,000 bells and some common carpets, depending on how much carpet you want to buy. Her first offer will cost you 3,000 bells and one common carpet, her second offer 6,000 bells and one common carpet, her third offer will be 12,000 bells and one common carpet, et cetera. The bi...woman keeps doubling her price... 05) Name: Gracie Use: O_o is all I can say...if that's even a saying... (LOL). Anyway, Gracie comes to visit in a shiny red sports car AND she wants YOU to wash it. Don't worry though, you'll be rewarded...depending on the job you do. You must press the A Button as quick as possible...without stopping. The quicker you wash the car, the more rare the shirt...however, you'll get a common shirt for a satisfactory job. You can only wash her car once per visit. 06) Name: Katrina Use: The Fortune-teller of Animal Crossing. She charges 50 bells per reading, which isn't even much. She arrives at 9:00 P.M. and stays for 24 hours. Her reading consist of five different things... "You'll be loved!" ~ Villagers of the opposite sex will be attracted to you. "You'll be unpopular!" ~ Villagers will really dislike you. "You'll become lucky!" ~ You'll receive more rare items than usual. "You'll have bad luck!" ~ While running, you will often trip. "You'll have good luck!" ~ You'll find a lot of money bags with 1000 bells. 07) Name: Joan Sow Use: This woman can help you earn your biggest profit in Animal Crossing!!! Like JTrost said, it's like the Stock Market, you must use your head. Your strategy is to buy cheap, sell high. Buy about 500-1000 turnips from Joan, as long as she is selling each turnip for under 95 bells. Then, check "Turnip Prices" for Tom Nook everyday. If Tom Nook is buying them for a much higher price than what you bought it for than you should sell, and gain a huge profit. However, you can end up losing a lot of bells as well. If your late into the week and you haven't sold your Turnips than you might be in trouble. Turnips die in a week so if your on Saturday and you haven't sold your Turnips than you might as well do so, regardless of what Tom Nook is paying for them. Just remember to try and sell your Turnips before Thursday. 8) Name: Gulliver Use: The bird is washed up on a shore one day a week at a random location of the shore. He is washed up on shore from 6:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. on that random day so be sure to check the ocean acres of your map everyday. After this conversation, the train pulls into your new town... [12-C] *~~In Town~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ -=-=-=-=-=-=- --_IN TOWN_-- -=-=-=-=-=-=- Upon arriving, you are greeted by Porter, the train porter monkey. Make your way down the short red brick stairs and be prepared to be greeted by Tom Nook himself. He'll begin to have a conversation with you and he tells you about the phone call he had with his good ol' pal, Rover. He then tells you he is the owner of a shop and begins to laugh at you because your moving to a town with no place to stay... You then have the choice of saying either of the following... 1) Don't laugh! 2) Whatever... Regardless of your answer, Tom Nook will apologize for laughing at you and the game will progress. He then takes you into the next axis with four houses, each of equal size. He then allows you to look in either one of the houses and decide which you feel is best for you character. Each house is similar size but they each have a different wallpaper and carpeting. Each house also includes an orange box, college rule, and tape deck. After looking at a house and walking out, Tom Nook will ask you the following... --Question 1-- (Tom Nook) Well? What do you think? How was it, hm? --Answer 1-- 1) I like it! -Tom Nook asks you question 2. 2) It's OK, I guess. -Tom allows you to view another house. --Question 2-- (Tom Nook) Your quite sure? This is the one you want? --Answer 2-- 1) Here is good! -Allows you to keep the house. 2) Umm, hang on! -Tom allows you to view another house. After that, Tom Nook will run down how you'll live in the house and earn some bells to pay of your debt. He tells you that with bells you'll have to pay off your debt, buy furniture to decorate your home, et cetera. He also tells you that you can check out some homes of your fellow neighbors and get an idea of what you'd like your pad to look like. Tom then talks about the Gyroid in front of your home, and what it's good for, such as notifying people that you aren't home, saving, et cetera. Then, Tom Nook asks you the following... --Question 3-- (Tom Nook) Did you get all that? Do you perhaps wish to hear it again? --Answer 3-- 1) No, thanks... -Game proceeds. 2) Tell me again. -Tom repeats everything said above. After that is over, Tom Nook will ask you to pay some of your debt, proceed by paying him 1,000 bells...and then be prepared to be laughed at. He tells you that he'll hire you since you don't know anyone in town yet and have no money to pay off your debt... Once you gain control, head up, back to the train station and look at the map...memorize the town format and if you don't like it, reset your game, without even making a game file. This will make a new format for your town. Each town is made up of a grid of 6 by 5 pixels. Memorize the location of Tom Nook, Police Station, Post office, Dump, Museum, Tailor Shop, & Wishing Well... If you want a more in-depth description on each of these locations you can press Ctrl + F and type in "Locations of Importance." That will take you to the "Locations of Importance" section for more information on these important locations. Try and keep these in mind as well... --Trees-- Try shaking trees and you can find some money bags, but be warned, beehives can be found in some trees and they won't be happy when you disturb them... --Rocks-- Rocks are scattered throughout your town, and have really no point. Once a day a random rock will be loaded with money bags, hit it with your shovel as much as possible and earn yourself some money. --Dirt Patches-- Dirt patches are little tiny brown X's on the ground. You'll get something different depending on the weather... --Bright Gold Spots-- Once a day random spot will have a bright gold light shining out of the ground. Dig in this location and you will find a money bag with 1,000 bells. When you find this money bag, bury it again and a little sprout will grow. You will have yourself a money tree that will have 3,000 bells within 4 days...you can also bury a normal shovel and have a golden sprout grow... ;) [12-D] *~~Working For Tom Nook~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ From here, head to wherever Tom Nook is located. He will tell you it's about time you got there, even if you took one minute... -_-. Anyway, he gives you a neat uniform and he asks you to change into it. Do so and talk to Tom Nook again, this time, you'll have work... Tom tells you that beauty attracts customers, so make sure you have 10 slots open... =-=-=-=-= --Job 1-- =-=-=-=-= Tom Nook will give you some tree sprouts and flowers and will ask you to plant them outside, around his store. Go outside and plant them however you want, I suggest placing them in any brown dirt spots, to cover them up. Once you've planted them all, go inside and Tom Nook will pay you and assign you with your second job... =-=-=-=-= --Job 2-- =-=-=-=-= Well not really a job, but you have to do it...Go around the village and talk to everyone in it...All your neighbors, officers, mayor, et cetera. Once you think you've talked to everyone, head back to Tom and he will assign you with your third job... =-=-=-=-= --Job 3-- =-=-=-=-= Tom is going to ask you to deliver random furniture to a random villager whom you've already met...No you can't steal the furniture. Deliver it to the random chosen villager and once you do, be rewarded by the villager and return to Tom Nook for your pay and fourth job. =-=-=-=-= --Job 4-- =-=-=-=-= For your fourth job, Tom asks you to mail a letter to one of his good customers. The letter is to a random villager but Tom will supply you with the stationary...Write the letter using the keys to type and after you have finished off the letter, head to the post office and mail it. When you return to Tom, he will tell you that he hasn't prepared the next "package" that he needs you to deliver. Go outside and go work for some of the villagers...of course I can't walk you through because the villagers are random let alone the work that is assigned for you, which makes the game that much more fun. After you worked for some villagers return to Tom Nook, he will assign you with Job 5... =-=-=-=-= --Job 5-- =-=-=-=-= Tom will ask you to deliver a nice carpet to another random villager whom you've already met, and no you can't steal this carpet either. Deliver the nice carpet to the randomly chosen villager and once you do, be rewarded by the villager and return to Tom Nook for your pay and sixth job... =-=-=-=-= --Job 6-- =-=-=-=-= Your sixth job will be similar to Job 5. This time you will be delivering an Ax to a random villager...this time, Tom will tell you that you can't steal the Ax nor use it, it isn't yours and that you'll have to buy one if you want to cut down trees, -_-. Anyway, deliver the Ax to the random villager, be rewarded by the villager and return to Tom Nook for your pay and seventh and final job... =-=-=-=-= --Job 7-- =-=-=-=-= Tom will ask you to visit the bulletin board in front of your house, and write something to advertise the store. You may write whatever you wish, but keep it clean, =P. Once you posted your message on the bulletin board, head back to Tom Nook After you complete these jobs your character will celebrate, I don't know why though, he still has a debt to pay, >_<. Anyway, if your using the official Animal Crossing Memory Card that came with the game, head to your mailbox and you should receive a Grab bag from Nintendo...inside is a K.K. song and two random NES games. Yes, you hate paying off your debt, I enjoy it...lots! ^_^ ~ SweetPimp... "Bah, it's a waste!" ~ Dman1550... But...dude, it's SO much fun!!! ^_^ ~ SweetPimp... "o_O!" ~ Dman1550... In loving memory of Dman1550...heh. Anyway, back to the point...there are so many ways to pay off your debt, this section will obviously list any form of earning money, in order to pay off your debt... --Fishing-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ One of the best ways to earn yourself some money is fishing. The first couple of days you won't be able to fish since you don't have a fishing rod, but that's ok. You can trade for a fishing rod, =P. Anyway, fishing on a rainy night by the ocean is best for bells. Be patient when your near fish, remember, the bigger the shadow, the more valuable the fish. "Heh, you said rod..." ~ Dman1550 "LOL!" ~ SweetPimp --Selling-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Selling, not that great but you can get money either way...try selling products that you no longer need or are taking up space in your house. Pass by the lost and found and dump daily and sell any of those items. NEVER dump stuff into the dump since you can make easy cash off of it. You can also sell some fruits from other villages for 500 a piece!!! When you get the chance, sell to villagers that offer you lots of cash, they usually pay double the amount of the product... --Fossils-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can make some good cash off of fossils. Whenever you dig up fossils, send them directly to the museum for examination. When you get a new fossil donate it to the museum, once you get repeats of fossils, sell them. You can only find oh so many fossils a day and when you receive them from the museum at least half of them can be copies, just sell them, most go for a damn good price... --Running Errands-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Running errands is another way of making some good cash...not really. You can get some sweet products by running errands and you can sell those errands for a good price. People always need work to be done so you'll always be giving someone a hand at work... --Shaking Trees/Hitting Rocks-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Tree shaking and rock shaking are two of the most basic ways of making some money. You shake a tree and a money bag usually falls out, containing 100 bells. Once a day a rock will contain a load of money bags and you will continually have to hit it with the shovel, most of these bags contain 100 bells and 1000 bells. This can be really good if you talk to the fortune- teller and she tells you that you are exceptionally lucky with money. Once she tells you this, you can go out and shake tress and get 1,000 bell money bags and you can even hit the rocks and get up to a 30,000 bell money bag!!! --Golden Spots-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Like the rock, this spot appears once a day. When you dig the bag up, it will contain 1,000 bells. As soon as you find it, re-bury the bag and within 4 days you'll have a money tree that has 3,000 bells. When your lucky with money, dig up the bag and get a load of money too... --Mail-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ That's right, the good ol' Postal Service. Try writing nice short letters to your villagers and attach a cheap gift, such as a shirt, fruit, et cetera. They will usually reply and send you better items. You can either keep these items or just sell them for some bells! Gardening is a big essential in Animal Crossing and the nicer your town, the better. When you keep your town in order for two straight weeks you receive your Golden Ax via mail, which is unbreakable, unlike the regular Ax. You shouldn't go chopping all the trees, just trees that are bunched up in groups. Try and keep a nice amount of trees in each acre and try covering up the large dirt patches with flowers and trees. Prevent running by the flowers as you'll just ruin them. Below are some ways of keeping your village nice and sexy... o_O! --Plant Trees-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Try and buy tree sprouts from Tom Nooks store, daily. Talk to the Wishing Well and do as it requests, this will help you figure out which acres lack trees. Try planting them in patterns, not just bunched up. Make sure that you have enough room between trees and that they don't block any important paths. Make sure you plant lots of various fruit trees as well. Don't just plant them all in one acre, plant them in as many acres as you can. --Watch How You Plant!-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Be careful about planting trees. You shouldn't plant a tree if it is too close to water, it's raining, there are too many trees in the acre, it's too close to a building, et cetera. --Limit Your Trees-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Limit the amount of trees you plant. You shouldn't plant anything over 15-20 trees. When you plant to many trees, most of them usually die and it's bad for your town. --Plant Where Necessary!-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Plant trees where they belong. Cedar Saplings should only be planted on the top half of your town while Saplings can be planted anywhere. Coconut plants should be planted in Acre F. --Plant Flowers-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Visit Tom Nooks shop everyday. While your there make sure you buy all the flowers that you possibly can. With these flowers, you should talk to the Wishing Well and plant flowers in some of the acres that it mentions. When the Wishing Well says "In areas where there is very little green" it is referring to the large brown patches. Try and cover these large brown patches with fields of flowers. Try making patterns by planting the same group of flowers together. Another way of getting a lot of flowers at one given time is by starting a new game. When you accept Tom Nooks first job and are given the flowers than you can go and plant them anywhere you want. Just be careful not to run over the flowers when your running near them. --Fruit Galore-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you like saving money and gardening at the same time than this is for you! Try trading with other people to obtain different fruit. Plant the fruit and when the tree are fully grown make sure to shake the trees, pick up the new fruit, and plant more fruit in different acres of your town. Soon, you will have a nice fruit town and it can earn you a lot of money as well. You can sell fruit from other towns for 500 bells a piece. Keep in mind, a lot of fruit trees in your town can have a good affect on the Wishing Well and your town as well. Another note, Coconuts can only be planted in Acre F. --Golden Trees-- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Yes, golden trees. In order to do this you must have a spare shovel a day. Everyday, when you run into a golden spot on the floor, dig up the bells and bury a shovel. Do this everyday for a couple of weeks and you will soon have a lot of golden trees. Golden trees have a very good affect on the Wishing Well and your town as well. When you collect these, it is best to donate them to the Museum, if you haven't already donated that specific item. The Museum is only large enough to hold one of each item, but it isn't easy to complete this. Certain bugs and fish appear at certain months throughout the game, so if you don't time travel it might take roughly about one year to complete the Museum. However, after filling in the fish and bug section, you are rewarded. If you obtain all the fish and bugs and donate them to the Museum you will receive a Golden Bug Catching Net and a Golden Fishing Rod. As for the paintings and fossils, I am not sure as of yet. Well, it's real simple and will be explained in the following sub-sections. *NOTE* - You CANNOT trade with anybody that has the same town name as you. [#-A] Giving an Item ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Sometimes, you want to give your friend an item that you have, but you just can't deliver it in person, and your friend isn't able to pick it up. That's when Tom Nook's shipping service comes in handy. You can take any item you have in your catalog (that is tradable) to Tom Nook's shop and trade it in for a secret code that you can tell to your friend. Your friend will then be able to use that code at Tom Nook's shop in his or her town to receive the item in exchange. Choose "Other Things" and then choose "Hear Code." Tom will ask you for the item and the town and player name that your friend is using. He will then give you a secret code that only your friend in that town can use! Of course, once you give the item away, it's gone for good (or so you may believe...)! You can tell your friend to re-enter that code over and over and he'll receive the item again and again. The person your trading with can then trade the item back so that both of you will have the item. Another thing, you can't trade with someone who has the same town name as you. [#-B] Receiving an Item ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If your friend gives you a secret code for you to use in your town, simply visit your local shop and talk to Tom Nook. Choose "Other Things" and choose "Say Code." After you say the secret code, Tom Nook will give you the item. If Tom Nook says that the code you have entered is incorrect you have either been jipped (it happens) or you accidently mistyped a letter/symbol/number. Go back and make sure the code is correctly entered. If the code is correct, you can continue to input the same code and you can receive an infinite supply of that same item. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You start the game with one Gyroid, the one right outside your house. This Gyroid can perform a few helpful functions for you: -Save -Door pattern -Display items -Display message Save, as you may have figured out, will save the game for you. You should always save your game after you play, unless you're looking for a visit from a certain hot-headed mole... As for the door pattern, you can choose to display a design that you got from the Able Sisters' Design Store on the door. Not much point to it, but it can help spruce up the exterior of your house a bit. If you have other human players sharing a town with you, you might find the displaying items feature quite helpful. Thru yours and others' Gyroids, you can have a virtual commerce within the confinements of your town. Let's say you have a shirt that you know another human player (your sister, for example) would really want, but you're not stupid and you won't give it to her for free. Simply choose to leave the item with your Gyroid and set a price for it. It would certainly be more beneficial to set the price higher than what Nook would sell it for, so you can turn in a good profit. Don't set it too high, or your sister might just tell you to take a hike. Anyway, if you have some items on display with your Gyroid and another human player talks to your Gyroid when he/she is playing, they can then view your items and choose whether or not they wish to buy them from you. If you choose to display a message, when someone else is playing and comes to talk to your Gyroid, the Gyroid will display a personalized message of your choosing. Again there isn't a whole lot of point to this, but it's just another neat way of interacting with your fellow villagers. [#-B] The Other Gyroids ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Remember the cracks in the ground where you usually find fossils? Well rarely you'll dig up a Gyroid in this spot (this seems to occur much more often if you have a golden shovel). As a matter of fact, the only way to find Gyroids is by digging them up - Nook won't sell them, Crazy Redd won't sell them, you won't get them as a reward for doing other villagers favours, and you can't trade them. It's for this reason that you might want to hang on to them when you do find some. Tom Nook will buy Gyroids off you for a mere 828 Bells and he'll either sell them back for more than 3,000 Bells or not at all, so it's a judgement call whether you want to keep them all or not. They can take up much- needed space, but they're also fun to keep in your house. When you drop a Gyroid in your house, it will begin to "gyrate" (hence the name) and will even start making sounds. If you get a full family of Gyroids, you'll notice that their noises actually go in sync, providing you with a veritable orchestra. If the noise starts grating on your ears, just press A in front of a Gyroid to "shut it off". Touch the Gyroid again to put it back into action. [#-C] Gyroid Families ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ As far as families go, Gyroids come in families ranging anywhere from two to six members. The names of the Gyroids indicate to which family it belongs. The names are typically an adjective followed by the family name: for example, Mini Buzzoid, Tall Dingloid, Mega Lullaboid, etc. The exceptions to this rule are the Gyroids that don't have an adjective (Drilloid, Rustoid, Quazoid, etc.). Usually they fly around leisurely, and all you have to do is run up to them and swing your net until you nab it. Flying bugs never seem to put up any resistance, so you can spend all day swinging at something in the air if you really have bad aim. Some flying bugs you're likely to see are dragonflies, butterflies, mosquitoes, and so on. [#-C] *~~Catching - Ground Bugs~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Ground bugs, as the name would indicate, crawl around on the ground, in bushes, or on flowers. Unlike flying bugs, these insects will get scared and start freaking out (but they won't disappear, like fish) if you get too close to them, or if you run at them. They will jump around erratically, trying to get away from you. The more times you scare the bug, the harder it'll be to catch. If you've scared away a bug and it jumps away a bit, just wait a moment and slowly walk towards it. A way of preventing this problem altogether, is to use the "creeping" technique I talked about earlier. If you run (or even walk normally) towards a bug, it will skitter away. Remember, even if you're sneaking up, you can never stand beside a bug. You'll have to get within a certain distance, aim, and release the A button to bring your net crashing down over the insect. Practice! [#-D] *~~Catching - Rare Bugs~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Rare bugs are bugs that are exceptions to everything I talked about above. You won't unconditionally find them flying through the air or patrolling the soil, you'll have to look a bit harder than that (hence, rare). To find rare bugs, try shaking trees (bees, bagworms), hitting rocks with your shovel (pill bugs), leaving spoiled turnips on the ground (ants), the water (pondskater) and so on. I would like to take a second to discuss catching bees. It's a frequent question around the GameFAQs Animal Crossing board, and many people doubt it can really be done. Well it can, because (a) bees are part of the 40-bug checklist and (b) I've done it. Different strokes work for different folks, but here's how I do it. It's not a flawless method and you will need to practice: Shake a tree. If a hive falls out, you're in "luck". As soon as that hive hits the floor, turn and run the opposite way for about one and a half seconds. Quickly turn around to face the other, but press Start as your character is turning around. Equip the net. Press Start again to return to the game, and hit A as soon as you can to swing your net. If you're lucky, you'll have avoided a stinging and will have caught the bee. Pat yourself on the back, then take it to the museum or Nook's. To hunt for fossils, you need one thing: a shovel. Shovels can be purchased from Tom Nook's store for 500 bells. If it's not there one day, check tomorrow. He will eventually stock one, so keep at it. Now once you've got your shovel, you're set. Run around your town, but pay close attention to the ground. Why? Because there are five places where fossils are buried each day. And you can spot where they are by looking at the ground, as I said. If you find a spot on the ground where it looks like a yellow X (I've always thought the spots look like yellow starfish), you're in luck. Because under that thin layer of soil could be your fossil. [#-B] *~~The Finding~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ So, you've found the dig-spot. Press Start, and "equip" your shovel. Go back to the game, and stand in a fashion so that your character will dig on the X/starfish/crack/thing. If you're not angled right, your character will dig a hole next to or in front of the X. Cover up those holes, and keep trying. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to dig up those fossils. Now, got all that? Ready...and...DIG! If you got the right spot, a blue circle with a white swirl on it should pop out of the ground, and your character will proudly hold it up (like he does when he catches a fish). The text box pops up and says, "Check it out! I dug up a fossil!" Then your character stuffs it into his pocket. If this is your first fossil, take it straight to the museum and offer it to Blathers. Blathers will tell you the fossil is unidentified (all fossils you dig up will be unidentified, more on that later), and he'll ask you if you've gotten a letter from the Farway Museum yet. If you have gotten the letter, choose "Yes" and Blathers will tell you to mail the fossil to the museum. Choose "No" and Blathers will assure you that the letter will arrive shortly. The reason for this being that Blathers apparently can't identify fossils. Which brings us to the next section... [#-C] *~~The Mailing~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Since Blathers can't identify fossils, there's only one place to turn to: the Farway Museum. You'll have to write a letter to the Farway Museum (with the unidentified fossil attached as a present, of course) asking them to identify the fossil for you (chose "Museum" from the list of recipients you get when you write a letter). Now, you don't have to write "Please identify this fossil for me thank you blah blah blah" every time you have something to send the Museum. A great deal of my letters to the Museum consist of "fossil", "ffffff", "snfknwfwn", and so on. It doesn't matter what you write to them, as long as you attach a fossil. Bring your letter/fossil to the post office, and mail it like you would any other letter. You're done! The Museum usually sends the fossil back the next day. But what will you do with it? [#-D] *~~What Now?~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ So you check your mail the next morning, and lo and behold you've gotten a letter (or letters) from the Museum. Read the letter to find out what type of fossil you've gotten. If it's a rare fossil, the Museum will tell you, and thank you, and whatnot. Anyway, once you've read the letter, pick up the present from said letter, and drop it into your inventory. Open the present, and the icon will now be a skull and bones instead of that blue/swirl thing it was when it was unidentified. If you keep your cursor on the fossil, the game will tell you what kind of fossil it is, so you don't need to keep the letter from the museum handy all the time. Well now you've got a fossil. You have a choice of what to do with it now. Fossils tend to bring in a fair amount at Tom Nook's shop (more so for beginners), but your town will benefit much more if you donate it to the Museum. If you choose to donate the fossil to the museum, go bring the identified fossil to Blathers, and choose to give it to him. If the fossil has not already been donated to the museum, Blathers will gladly accept with open...uh, wings. He'll blather (GET IT?) on a bit about the history of this fossil, and then thank you. No, you don't get any Bells or any reward by donating things to the Museum. Just the feeling of knowing you helped make your town a better place for everyone. But then again, Tom Nook's shop offers a big persuasion. If you choose to be greedy, ignore the museum, and sell it to Tom, you'll get about 1,000 Bells for common fossils, with his highest buying price being 5,500 Bells (for the Tricera Skull, in case you were wondering). Basically, the rarer a fossil is, the higher price Tom will pay out. If you get a duplicate fossil (you've already donated it to the museum), feel free to sell it to Tom. Not much else you can do with it. [#-E] *~~Other Notes~~* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ºººThe museum will only send you back three fossils at a time. ºººNot all dig-spots will be so easy to find. There are usually about three clear-as-day spots on a given day, but there could be two (or more, or less) that are impossible to find. The reason for this is usually that the spots are in an invisible spot: behind a building, behind a tree, behind the lighthouse, and so on. A clever way to counter this is to plant flowers behind every building, tree, etc. It's even been suggested on the GameFAQs Animal Crossing board that you plant flowers on EVERY spot in your town except for five, and the dig-spots will appear in those five un flowered spots every day. This is a little extreme, and would make running around from job to job very difficult. ºººYou won't always dig up a fossil. On rare occasions, you will find Gyroids in those cracks, and on even rarer occasions, furniture. ºººNot all cracks lead to something. There is an item in the game called a pitfall, which looks like a white circle with a red exclamation point. Dig a hole, bury the pitfall, and it looks just like a crack you'd hope to find a fossil in. But if you walk over these cracks that bear pitfalls, your character will fall in the ground and become trapped, as if he walked into quicksand. Just tap the A button and your character will pull himself out. As far as I know, pitfalls can only be buried by human players, and not animals. ºººIf you drop an identified fossil in your house, it turns into the fossil itself, so you can display it for all to see. The common fossils are small and don't take up much room, but if you want to display a full T.Rex, you won't have room for much more. ºººFossils will appear in your catalogue, but you won't be able to order them. When you have an NES game in your possession, simply go into your house and drop it as you would with a regular piece of furniture. The NES game will turn into an NES with a game cartridge on top. Walk up to the NES and press A. You'll be asked if you want to play the game. Press ok to play the NES game. 5) Q. Where's Crazy Redd, Wendell, Katrina, et cetera? A. Make sure you talk to Copper the dog, everyday. He will tell you when a certain guest is going to visit your town. It isn't everyday that these visitors come to your town. When they do, take advantage. Sometimes you'll be mailed when a visitor is coming to town, giving the time and date that they'll be visiting. 6) Q. What's a Universal Code? A. A Universal Code is a worldwide code. It works with every copy of Animal Crossing. It is a good way to obtain items that you are having trouble obtaining. 7) Q. How do I get Wario's Woods/Baseball? A. Go to Animal Island with ten or so pieces of furniture that you no longer use. Bury them with a golden shovel, then drop the shovel and leave the island. Have your villager (on your GBA) pick up the shovel and dig up the items. He/She will bury another item in its place. Keep on doing this until he/she buries an NES game. You'll know an item is an NES game because the item will be in the shape of a console rather than a leaf. 8) Q. How do I get the well to tell me that my town is perfect? A. Talk to the well daily. Follow all of its requests by planting flowers, cutting trees, planting trees, et cetera. Sooner or later, the well will tell you that your town is perfect. Try to keep your town perfect for a long time and you'll soon receive a golden axe in the mail. 9) Q. How do I get the golden shovel? A. To get the golden shovel you need a shovel first. Run around your town until you see a gold beam of light coming out of the ground. Dig a hole in that spot and take the money bag. Now bury the regular shovel in the same hole and a small gold sprout will grow. The plant can die so make sure to keep an eye on it. Once the tree is fully grown just shake it and a golden shovel will fall from it. 10) Q. How do I get the golden axe? A. Check question 8. You must keep your town in perfect condition for a certain amount of days and sooner or later you will receive a golden axe in the mail. 11) Q. How do I get the golden fishing rod? A. You must capture all of the fish in Animal Crossing and donate them all to the Museum. 12) Q. How do I get the golden bug catching net? A. You must capture all of the bugs in Animal Crossing and donate them all to the Museum. 13) Q. Where is Wisp the Ghost? A. Wisp the Ghost appears at a random location between 12:00 A.M. to 4:00 A.M. but he appears at a different location every night. 14) Q. I time travelled and my turnips spoiled! What do I do? A. Well, it is your fault for time travelling in the first place. There is nothing I can really do to help but try time travelling back to the sunday you bought the turnips. 15) Q.
