This is going to take a while. Finished the title so that it looks all fancy :). 1.1 10/09/02 Finished Sections 1-9. Some names and prices are probably wrong. I'll have them fixed in the next update. Started 10. Also did Sections 17 and 28. More to come! 1.2 10/10/02 Made minor corrections to the 1.1 content. Redid some formatting. Sections 1-9 have been toned down to 1-8 and include some other sections. I might have another update today. 1.3 10/11/02 More information added. Several lists were completed. The grand ole' fish section has been finished. Expect the bugs in the next update. 1.4 10/13/02 Fossils section added. Minor Update to the rest of the FAQ. Bugs will come soon. 1.5 10/15/02 Completed the Animals section. Very minor update. 1.6 10/22/02 Started the NES Games section. Not near a completion. Redid the upgrades section a tad bit. Completed the beginner's guide. If you find any errors, please contact me. This guide is slowly growing to be the perfect FAQ on Animal Crossing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VERSION DATE UPDATE 2.0 11/22/02 Full release version. Every section is up, but may not have the full list of everything. I ask all of you to bear with me, as this is going to be a long process. It should now fully coincide with the GameFAQs requirements. I finished the Paintings and Gyroid sections. I'll finish each section shortly. 2.1 11/23/02 Completed the Gameboy Advance and Bugs sections. I added a location lexicon to both the bugs and fish sections. As of now, there are 18 sections FULLY COMPLETE. That is awesome considering that I plan to have 28 overall. That means that 70% percent is done. I added the overall completion of the other sections into that equation. It is an estimate. 2.2 11/28/02 Corrected misc excerpts thanks to Videoshocker2. I corrected some grammer mistakes here and there as well. chriswell22 also supplied a Redd secret. I also have completed the Wanderers section. GameFAQs and IGN have both accepted the FAQ! Yes! FULL RELEASE BABY! 2.3 12/03/02 Completed the Series part of the furniture section. It took some time just to get this part done. Expect the themes to follow in the next update. Updated a few other sections with various corrections. Most notably, the fruits section. 2.4 12/10/02 Completed the clothing section. Let me just say that it was the second longest list that I had/have to write for this document. (Second only to the furniture list.) I also discovered that I had left out the stationary and handheld items sections. A big whoops on my part. I completed the handheld section, but I wanted to release this version so much, that I didn't finish the stationary. So, tough luck. Thanks to Firefalcon2537 for correcting an error for me. 2.5 12/24/02 I also finished the stationary section. I have also finished the E-Reader section. All just in time for the holidays. Please send in the passwords on the back of your E-Cards! It will help all of your fellow gamers. Read more about it in the E-Reader section. I have also made the Table of Contents a little better. Finally, I have rewritten some of the introduction. 2.51 12/27/02 This update is so minor that it doesn't deserve a full number increase. I guess I got so P.O.ed at all of the e-mails I've received to make corrections. It isn't a bad thing, but it sort of got annoying... Thanks to Josh for telling me about the koala Yuka and to Brian for confirming it. Is Baseball an Animal Island only item? Please send me confirmation. Another change to the introduction and if you still havn't noticed, the update section has been reformatted. (Mostly to include the 1 after the 5. :) 2.52 01/03/03 Happy new year! This update is another minor, change a few things update. I have clarified in the Secret NES Games section a tip that I thought I had made that clear already. So many people kept e-mailing me about it, so I have placed a clarification. I also changed a minor error in the banner art. It really didn't matter though. Also check the E-Reader section for a quick change. Sorry for not getting the main sections done. I've been busy playing Phantasy Star Online. :) 2.6 01/09/03 Finished the Themes part of the Furniture section. That means that the majority of the furniture is somewhere in this guide. It will be finished soon! I also added a FAQ section for those with questions. 2.7 08/23/03 Many corrections throughout the FAQ. HRA, Special Events, and Tips and Tricks sections have been completed. The Furniture list has also been expanded further. Finally, I've completed the Holidays section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TABLE OF CONTENTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the section has a star next to it, it isn't finished. Since it is my personal site, I upload the file by myself and so I have it up at the same time I send the updates to the other sites. The other sites take a day or two to have it up fully. If someone would glady redo my title art, I would be most grateful. I am not much of an artist. You will receive credit. Thanks. If a section is not finished, please DO NOT send me any information for it. I am still doing the documenting for those sections and more than likely, I already know what you will send me. Welcome to my second ever FAQ. This will basicly be a reference for all of you die hard Animal Crossing fans. Since the current FAQs aren't that great, I've decided to do some serious searching in the game. After about 3 to 4 weeks after the games release, I finally have discovered almost all of the game's secrets and items. Obviously, I won't be able to cover every aspect, but I hope that this will get as close to possible. Well, hurry up and read on! To quickly find a section, press CTL+F. This will bring up the find menu. Type in the section's name from the Table of Contents, word for word (i.e. 1) Introduction) , and you'll be sent to the Table of Contents. From this point on, you'll have your own little town generated on a random basis. It is completely different from everyone else's and that is what makes this game so great. This section will explain the different shops and about how you can get the most out of your Animal Crossing experience. THE TRAIN STATION ----------------- Employees: Porter, K.K. Slider Location: Always at the top of the map. What it does: Enables you to travel to other player's towns. K.K. Slider comes here every Saturday night at 8pm to 12am. You can get some cool music from him then. Description: When you first enter the town, this is where you come to. Porter will greet you and send you on your way. There is a map in front of the station. Before you get your map, be sure to look at this one since it is the easiest one to remember the location for. Timmy and Tommy will appear when Nook upgrades his shop the fourth time. Try to visit the shop whenever possible. Every town has a group letter. Either A, B, or C. They symbolize which items are more likely to appear in your town. For example, if your town was A, every item that had an A for a group would appear in Nook's shop usually more than other items. You can still get them all, but this makes it slightly more difficult. Based on the most common furniture in my town, I have determined that my group is A. Yours is probably different. Info: The Upgrades, Furniture, Paintings, Clothing, Carpets, Walls THE POST OFFICE --------------- Employees: Pelly, Phyliss, Pete Location: In a random acre. What it does: Used to mail letters to other townfolk and to pay off your debt to Nook. Description: For those of you love sending letters, this has got to be your favorite place. They are as follows: GOODIES BELLS NEEDED Tissue 1,000,000 Piggy Bank 10,000,000 Mailbox 100,000,000 Post Model 999,999,999 (Thanks to Videoshocker2 for reminding me to place the Goodies info.) Info: The Upgrades, THE TAILOR SHOP --------------- Employees: Mabel, Sable Location: In a random acre. What it does: Enables you to buy new clothes and create new clothes. Description: The best place for people who love how they look. I don't spend that much time here, but I could care less about how my vid game character looks like. Yet, making clothes can be amusing. If anyone can send in a better description, that'd be great. Info: Gameboy Advance LIGHTHOUSE ---------- Employees: You, Tortimer Location: In a random acre on the sea edge. Can only be accesed when Tortimer is on vacation. What it does: Keeps ships safe off the coast of the town, duh. Description: A large white tower. I mostly black inside with a switch to turn off/on the light. Info: Holidays ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) The Beginning ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As soon as you start the game, you'll see K.K. Slider saying some stuff to you. It is a tad bit interesting, but as soon as this is over with, you'll get onto the train. You'll sit a while and then a cat named Rover will come up to you. He'll ask you a few questions and gives you the ability to set up how your character looks like. The following chart will tell you how to answer to get the character that you want: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mind if I Why are you Do you know You have Character sit here? going to where you're money, right? #. Answer them however you wish. Mine was Veran at Dargon. If you want the secret NES games, name yourself NES at NES. He'll call his friend in your village and he'll arrange to get a house for you. You'll get off the train and meet his friend who happens to be Tom Nook, your future best friend. He'll offer you one of four houses. I chose the lower right one. It really doesn't matter which one you choose except for its location. The items inside can always be changed and repurchased. You'll choose the house and pay him 1,000 bells, but that isn't enough. So you get hired to work for him. Tough luck. You'll owe about 18,800 bells. A very easy task it is to pay it off. He'll give you a work uniform and ask you to run some errands to help pay off the debt. Here is a list of them: 1) Plant some flowers and trees outside Nook's Shop An easy task. It doesn't matter where you plant them. Go inside to get 80 bells for your house loan. 2) Meet and Greet villagers You won't get paid for this task, but ohh well. All you have to do is meet every single villager in the town and the mayor. As soon as you have done that, you are finished and you'll need to talk to Nook. 3) Deliver a piece of furniture Nook will give you a piece of furniture. You will give it to someone else. Nook will give you 230 bells. You will put it to your loan. :) 4) Send a letter Now, Nook will give you a parchment and ask you to mail a letter to another animal as an ad. We all know this as junk mail, but the animals in the game do not. You'll need to watch your spelling and grammar, but basicly you can write anything you want. You'll get 130 bells for this job. 5) Helping is good for you Nook will give you some time off and ask you to go see if any of the villagers have any tasks for you. You'll get furniture and possibly more bells. You just have to do one chore to get Nook to give you your next task. 6) Carpet is nice Nook will give you some carpet for a delivery. Same as the furniture. Yet for some reason, carpet is worth more. Furniture is more expensive, but carpet... Never mind. I'm thinking too much. You'll get 580 bells for this task. (Unusual...). 7) You get a hatchet, but no cherry tree, bummer Another delivery except that it will be an ax. You'll get 230 bells for the job. 8) Another piece of spam :( Finally, Nook will ask you to post a message on the Town Bulletein board as an ad. Do the same that you did for your letter. This time, the reward is the ability to not have to work for Nook anymore! Yeah! During the tasks, you must wear your Work Uniform. Well, not really. If you walk into Nook's store without it, he'll get into a conversation about it and in the end, you'll both agree that it is stupid. You won't have to wear it anymore. You can keep it at the end or give it back to him, but if you get rid of it, it's gone for good. Unless you get a friend to give you his, but why would you want it? You are now in the real world. You can do whatever you want in Animal Crossing. Personally, I recommend trying to get all of the fish and bugs that you can during the month that you have started in. In about a year, you should be able to get cool stuff for collecting all of the fish and bugs. Be sure to buy all four tools. However, you will need to finish paying off your house debt. Did you really think that it was all over after finishign the jobs? No. You'll have about another 17,500 more bells to go. Joy. An easy sum to pay off with the fishing rod, wink, wink. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) The Upgrades ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your House: Your house has several upgrades that you can get to increase the space and make it look good. In the beginning, it won't matter what house you choose except for the particular location that you enjoy best. These upgrades will improve it considerably. YOUR HOUSE ---------- Cost: 19,800 Size: 4x4 Description: The first house. Not that big. You should probably try to pay it off the first day. THE FIRST EXPANSION ------------------- Cost: 148,000 Size: 6x6 Description: A much needed improvement. The house now has enough space to really begin to collect items. By the time you pay it off, more than likely you won't need the extra space. THE BASEMENT ------------ Cost: 49,800 Size: Basement - 8x8 First - 6x6 or 8x8 Description: Perfect for storing items that you can't fit upstairs, but want to keep. You'll get to choose from this and the Second Expansion. I recommend to get this first because you'll get more space and it is easier to pay off. The HRA does not rate this section of your house. THE SECOND EXPANSION -------------------- Cost: 398,000 Size: Basement - Possibly 8x8 First - 8x8 Description: A huge room that you won't have to worry about running out of space. This will be the largest first floor that you can possibly get. THE SECOND FLOOR ---------------- Cost: 798,000 Size: Basement - 8x8 First - 8x8 Second - 8x8 Description: The hardest to get and the hardest to pay off. This basicly adds an entire first floor to your house. The space is needed late on, but in the early game, you probably shouldn't have gotten to this so quickly. It will severly lower your scores from the HRA if there isn't much up here. YOUR STATUE ----------- Cost: None Size: 1x1 Description: When you finally pay off all of your debt, Nook will reward you with a statue in your town. The first person to pay off in your town, gets a gold one. Second, a silver. Third, a bronze. Do your best to beat your friends to the gold! THE BANK -------- Cost: None Size: None Description: What good does paying off the Second Floor do? At the Post Office, instead of paying off your debt, you'll be able to store your bells. Up to 99,999,999 of them! :) Nook's Shops: As the shops get larger, Nook has more stuff to sell. The sooner you get the largest store, you'll have a higher chance of getting the items you really want. The amount tells you how much you must buy/sell to get Nook to upgrade to the next level. It is not cumulative. The furniture says how many of the items that you can buy and get tickets from, that Nook will sell. NOOK'S CRANNY ------------- Amount: None Furniture: 1 Time: 9am - 10pm Description: A really small shop without much to offer. I would hurry up and buy/sell to get him to upgrade. You'll need both the money and the option to buy more items. NOOK 'N GO ----------- Amount: 25,000 Furniture: 2 Time: 8am - 11pm Description: Still not that big, but the open time is pure advantagous. I've played Animal Crossing at 8 in the morning and I hate to have to wait for him to open in the other stores. NOOKWAY ------- Amount: 65,000 Furniture: 4 Time: 9am - 10pm Description: The true beginning of Nook's shops. You can get here pretty quickly and get a large selection of items. He'll even start mailing you daily with the name of his best furniture. Quite a benefit. NOOKINGTON'S ------------ Amount: 150,000, Have one visitor from another town buy something from your Nookway Furniture: 6 Time: 9am - 10pm Description: This is when Timmy and Tommy poke their heads in. It has two floors of our little toys :). On the first, Tom Nook continues to be your cashier. It contains paper, seeds, an unbrella, and 3 tools a day. On the second floor, Timmy and Tommy become the cashiers. They are probably more annoying than Tom Nook was. On this floor, they have 6 pieces of furniture, 5 sets of clothing, 3 wallpapers, and 3 floors. This is probably the very best store imaginable. It took me about a month to reach this, but then again, I wasn't trying to get this far. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) Fruits ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Selling fruits is the easiest way to make some quick bells. You can sell your starting fruit for 100 bells and can sell fruit you brought from another town and sell those for 500 bells. Over time, fruit does not become a popular source of income. Fishing and catching bugs offer a larger amount of cash, but in the beginning, this is the best way. Coconuts are worth 150 bells. The Fruits: Apples Cherries Coconuts Peaches Pears ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) Tools ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the basic tools of the game. Learn to use them well: Shovel - Digging ---------------- Cost: 500 bells Info: Tips and Tricks, Golden Tools, Fossils, Gyroids To Use: Equip. Press A to dig a hole. Press A again to cover it back up. The first tool that you buy is one of the most used. You can dig up the stars on the ground to get fossils or gyroids. Both can be extremely valuable. Net - Catching -------------- Cost: 500 bells Info: Tips and Tricks, Golden Tools, Bugs To Use: Equip. Press A to swing. Press and hold A to slow down and get it ready for a strike. The second tool that you can buy. This will be your first real money maker. Bugs can give you from 60 bells to 10,000 each. The net will be the key to getting all 40. Fishing Pole - Fishing ---------------------- Cost: 500 bells Info: Tips and Tricks, Golden Tools, Fish To Use: Equip. Press A near water to cast. When a fish nibbles, wait. When the line goes underwater, press A repeatedly until caught. Bigger fish take longer to both bite and get out of the water. The third tool that you can buy. My personal favorite way to make easy money is to fish. Just in the sea, you can catch fish worth 3,000 to 5,000. Fish sell for 125 to 15,000 each. There are 40 fish all waiting to be caught. Ax - Chopping ------------- Cost: 500 bells Info: Tips and Tricks, Golden Tools To Use: Equip. Press A to swing. Stand near a tree for best results. :) This last tool is used to help control the population of trees. New trees will appear each day, so you will have to cut down dense forests to keep your town looking good. Use the shovel to dig up the stumps. The ax will grow dull if used alot. Golden Tools: The tools will all increase their abilities if you upgrade them to Golden Tools. To get them, follow the instructions: Golden Shovel ------------- To Get: First, purchase two shovels. Find a glowing spot on the ground and dig up the 1,000 bells. Then bury the second shovel into the hole. A tree sapling will appear. Wait a few days for it to grow into a golden tree. Shake the tree and the Golden Shovel will fall out. Extra: Can now dig up 100 bells if you dig around randomly. Golden Net ---------- To Get: First, purchase a net. Attempt to catch all 40 bugs. As soon as that is done, talk to the Mayor. He'll give you the Golden Net. Extra: Makes catching bugs easier. You'll also get a butterfly picture on the side of your house. Golden Fishing Pole ------------------- To Get: First, purchase a fishing pole. Attempt to catch all 40 fish. As soon as that is done, talk to the Mayor. He'll give you the Golden Fishing Pole. Extra: Makes catching fish easier. You'll also get a fish weathervane on top of your house. Golden Ax --------- To Get: You must have a perfect town for 14 days. To check up on this, talk to the wishing well. It'll will tell you several things that need to be done. I suggest checking the Perfect Town FAQ that is found at GameFAQs, maybe IGN, for more information regarding this. Then talk to the wishing well and it will give you the ax. How it does it, is quite interesting. (Thanks to Videoshocker2 for some info.) Extra: Never grows dull. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) Wanderers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many people will visit your town over time. Here are them: Chip ---- When: 6am to 6pm every Sunday in June and Nov Chip is a beaver who leads the Summer Fishing Tourney and the Fall Fishing Tourney. Bring him a bass and he'll measure it. If it is larger than the largest bass already, then you'll get a minor prize. You can continue the process until you decide to stop. If you have the biggest fish by the end of the day, Chip will mail you a larger prize. Usually a piece of furniture. It may be that missing piece in your collection. You can not turn in Sea Bass, but it is quite amusing hearing what he has to say about turning in one... Largest Bass Known: 33 inches caught by Andrew Caught a larger one? Send it in! vegeeta777@nc.rr.com Franklin -------- When: 3pm to 9pm on the fourth Thursday of Nov He shows up at the annual Harvest Festival. Not that turkies are bright or anything, but this one was invited to dinner by Tortimer. He suspects that he was invited to be the dinner! I can't believe Tortimer could be so evil... I'll get to them soon, I swear! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10) Paintings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A quick section on Paintings. First of all, the only way to get a painting is to purchase one from Redd or Tom Nook. The following chart contains all of them: (See Your Town - Tom Nook's Shop for definition of Group. The price is what you pay to get the item from Nook's catalog.) -------------------------------------------------------- Painting Group Price Available -------------------------------------------------------- Amazing - 1,960 Redd's Tent Basic - 1,960 Redd's Tent Classic C 1,960 Tom Nook's Shop Common - 1,960 Redd's Tent Dainty - 1,960 Redd's Tent Famous - 1,960 Redd's Tent Fine B 1,960 Tom Nook's Shop Flowery - 1,960 Redd's Tent Moving - 1,960 Redd's Tent Perfect A 1,960 Tom Nook's Shop Quaint - 1,960 Redd's Tent Rare B 1,960 Tom Nook's Shop Scary - 1,960 Redd's Tent Strange A 1,960 Tom Nook's Shop Worthy C 1,960 Tom Nook's Shop -------------------------------------------------------- That's all of the paintings in the game. They aren't that difficlut to track down. I highly recommend that you turn the first one that you get into the Museum. You can always buy the ones you like back from Tom Nook. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11) Fossils ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all know that dinos existed millions of years ago, but who would have thought that you could just dig up a little earth and find a fossil? Maybe not in the real world, but in Animal Crossing it is so easy to find a fossil. First, get a shovel. Next, look for a star on the ground. Dig it up and you'll find either a fossil or a gyroid. Usually a fossil. Now, there is only one thing you should do. Send it to the Museum for an examination through the mail. If you don't have the Museum's address, then head to your personal Museum and try to donate it to Blathers. He'll say that you can't do that and tell you that the main Museum will mail you with their address. Anyways, after you've mailed the fossils, only up to 3 will be mailed back to you the next day. Each will be a completely different dino part. You can either get a huge profit by selling it to Nook or donate it to your Museum. I recommend that you donate the first one you get and sell the repeats. The prize for donating everything is quite rare and difficult to get. Well, here is the full list of all dinos and their parts: (The price is the selling price to Nook. The dino, Small, are the little fossils that are placed on the stands.) ------------------------------ Dino Part Price ------------------------------ Apato Skull 5,000 Apato Torso 4,500 Apato Tail 4,000 Mammoth Skull 3,000 Mammoth Torso 2,500 Plesio Skull 4,000 Plesio Neck 4,500 Plesio Torso 4,500 Ptera Skull 4,000 Ptera Left Wing 4,500 Ptera Right Wing 4,500 Small Amber 1,200 Small Ammonite 1,100 Small Dinosaur Egg 1,400 Small Dinosaur Track 1,000 Small Trilobite 1,300 Stego Skull 5,000 Stego Torso 4,500 Stego Tail 4,000 T-Rex Skull 6,000 T-Rex Torso 5,500 T-Rex Tail 5,000 Tricera Skull 5,500 Tricera Torso 5,000 Tricera Tail 4,500 ------------------------------ That's all of the dinos. Now you would just say that there are only umbrellas and tools that do that, right? Since Tools is its own section, then shouldn't this just be Umbrellas? Well, there is more than those two items. Such as fans, pinwheels, and balloons. This section will detail where you can find the items and what the price to obtain them is. They each belong to a certain set and make noises. They also move in a certain way. Yet, why place a nuisance in a game when we have that already in our siblings. Because they can spice up any music. Just pop one in a boom box and their noises might make it sound cooler. I have one that continues to make a low beat to the music, making them sound quite cool. Well, here is the list of all of the gyroids. They are alphabetized by their set first, then their name. ------------------------------------------- Gyroid Set ------------------------------------------- Mega Alloid Alloid Mini Alloid Alloid Tall Alloid Alloid Mega Bovoid Bovoid Tall Bovoid Bovoid Bowtoid Bowtoid Mega Bowtoid Bowtoid Mini Bowtoid Bowtoid Tall Bowtoid Bowtoid Buzzoid Buzzoid Mega Buzzoid Buzzoid Mini Buzzoid Buzzoid Tall Buzzoid Buzzoid Clankoid Clankoid Mega Clankoid Clankoid Mini Clankoid Clankoid Tall Clankoid Clankoid Croakoid Croakoid Mega Croakoid Croakoid Mini Croakoid Croakoid Tall Croakoid Croakoid Dekkoid Dekkoid Mega Dekkoid Dekkoid Mini Dekkoid Dekkoid Dingloid Dingloid Mega Dingloid Dingloid Mini Dingloid Dingloid Squat Dingloid Dingloid Tall Dingloid Dingloid Wee Dingloid Dingloid Mega Dinkoid Dinkoid Mini Dinkoid Dinkoid Drilloid Drilloid Mega Drilloid Drilloid Mini Drilloid Drilloid Tall Droploid Droploid Mega Echoid Echoid Mini Echoid Echoid Tall Echoid Echoid Mega Fizzoid Fizzoid Mini Fizzoid Fizzoid Mega Freakoid Freakoid Mini Freakoid Freakoid Gargloid Gargloid Mini Gargloid Gargloid Tall Gargloid Gargloid Gongoid Gongoid Mega Gongoid Gongoid Mini Gongoid Gongoid Tall GOngoid Gongoid Harmonoid Harmonoid Mega Harmonoid Harmonoid Mini Harmonoid Harmonoid Tall Harmonoid Harmonoid Howloid Howloid Mega Howloid Howloid Mini Howloid Howloid Lamentoid Lamentoid Mega Lamentoid Lamentoid Mini Lamentoid Lamentoid Tall Lamentoid Lamentoid Lullaboid Lullaboid Mega Lullaboid Lullaboid Mini Lullaboid Lullaboid Tall Lullaboid Lullaboid Metatoid Metatoid Mini Metatoid Metatoid Mega Nebuloid Nebuloid Mini Nebuloid Nebuloid Nebuloid Nebuloid Slim Nebuloid Nebuloid Squat Nebuloid Nebuloid Tall Nebuloid Nebuloid Mega Obloid Obloid Obloid Obloid Tall Obloid Obloid Mega Oombloid Oombloid Mini Oombloid Oombloid Oombloid Oombloid Tall Oombloid Oombloid Mega Percoloid Percoloid Tall Percoloid Percoloid Mega Plinkoid Plinkoid Mini Plinkoid Plinkoid Plinkoid Plinkoid Mega Poltergoid Poltergoid Mini Poltergoid Poltergoid Poltergoid Poltergoid Tall Poltergoid Poltergoid Mega Puffoid Puffoid Mini Puffoid Puffoid Tall Puffoid Puffoid Mega Quazoid Quazoid Mini Quazoid Quazoid Quazoid Quazoid Slim Quazoid Quazoid Tall Quazoid Quazoid Mini Rhythmoid Rhythmoid Rhythmoid Rhythmoid Mega Rustoid Rustoid Mini Rustoid Rustoid Rustoid Rustoid Mega Sproid Sproid Mini Sproid Sproid Sproid Sproid Tall Sproid Sproid Mega Sputnoid Sputnoid Mini Sputnoid Sputnoid Sputnoid Sputnoid Tall Sputnoid Sputnoid Mega Squelchoid Squelchoid Mini Squelchoid Squelchoid Squelchoid Squelchoid Mega Strumboid Strumboid Mini Strumboid Strumboid Strumboid Strumboid Tall Strumboid Strumboid Mega Timpanoid Timpanoid Mini Timpanoid Timpanoid Tall Timpanoid Timpanoid Timpanoid Timpanoid Mega Tootoid Tootoid Mini Tootoid Tootoid Tootoid Tootoid Mini Warbloid Warbloid Tall Warbloid Warbloid Warbloid Warbloid ------------------------------------------- To get these interesting toys, you must dig up a star on the ground. (Can also be in October) Visit it to get one of the game's largest objects... the moon... Just don't go all werewolf on us. OCTOBER -------------------------- 2nd Monday Explorer's Day 15th to 25th Mushrooming Season 31st Halloween Random Day Harvest Moon 2nd Monday - Explorer's Day Since Animal Crossing has virtually no exploring whatsoever, I have no idea why this is in the game. Maybe so you could get the Bottled Ship from Tortimer... hmmm... 15th to 25th - Mushrooming Season Five Mushrooms magically sprout from the ground at 8am. The townspeoples will find one every 15 minutes after that. Locate them to sell to Nook for an extremely handsome price. 31st - Halloween From 6pm to 1am on Nov 1st, all of the townies will be out trick or treating. If you had been purchasing all of the candy appearing at Nook's shop this month, you'll be able to use it this day. Search around the town to find everybody except for you is dressed as the infamous Jack. They'll all chase after you and if they catch you, they'll do a classic trick or treat. They'll take your candy or if you have none, turn your clothes into a patched shirt or an item you have into a Jack-O'-Lantern. But there are two people that you actually do want to find on this night. Tortimer's gift today is Katrina's Tent, so find him by the well. The second person to find is Jack. Giving him candy will let you have an item from the spooky set. So, what is the best strategy to getting the entire spooky set? Collect hordes of candy throughout the month and store them in your basement. Next, write 8 letters to whoever you want. Attach eight candies to each letter. Where only a piece of clothing that you don't really care about. Now it's time! Since everybody looks the same, Jack is kind of hard to find. What you have to do is run around in each acre and look for the one Jack look a like that doesn't chase after you. That one is the true Jack. Take a piece of candy off of the letter and talk to him. Giving him the piece will let him give you a piece from the Spooky set! Attach the piece to the letter and continue the charade. Jack will randomly appear in the town, so it may take some time. Let a villager trick you twice so that you can get the Patched Shirt and a Jack-O'-Lantern. By the way, collecting the entire set is an incredibly easy way to get the 100,000 points for the HRA. That's what I did, so it works. EVENT GIFTS Spooky Bed Spooky Sofa Spooky Bookcase Spooky Table Spooky Chair Spooky Vanity Spooky Clock Spooky Wardrobe Spooky Dresser Spooky Carpet Spooky Lamp Spooky Wall Patched Shirt Jack-O'-Lantern Jack-In-The Box Katrina's Tent Random Day - Harvest Moon This day varies every years so check your calendar. If you're not a criminal, honor them by getting the Police Model from Tortimer. 4th Thursday - Harvest Festival Basically, Thanksgiving. See Tortimer for a Cornucopia. Then, between 3pm and 6pm, find a bird hiding behind buildings and trees and speak to him. You'll discover that he's Franklin and he's been invited to the feast, not as a guest, but well, you get the point. Steal some the knife and fork from the festival table and give it to Franklin to get an item from the Harvest set from him. Strangely enough, you can continue to do it constantly... EVENT GIFTS Cornucopia Harvest Mirror Harvest Bed Harvest Sofa Harvest Bureau Harvest Table Harvest Chair Harvest TV Harvest Clock Harvest Rug Harvest Dresser Harvest Wall Harvest Lamp 4th Friday - Sale Day At Nook's store, he'll sell tons of Grab Bags at extremely low prices. Visit between 11pm and 1am on the 1st of Jan to get the Noisemaker from Tortimer. And that, concludes our list of events. Have fun trying to go to all of them. Most people have too busy of schedules to see them all, but try your best. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23) HRA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This section is the necessary guide to the HRA and Feng Shui. It should help you get that hard to earn Manor Model. If you get enough points, you'll earn cool collectibles that also add points to your total. REWARD POINTS NEEDED House Model 70,000 points Manor Model 100,000 points TIPS ---------------------------------- - Rare items that you receive at holidays and other events always add points to your home's design, no matter where they are and what's in the room. - If you complete full series and themes, you'll get more points. Series are sets of furniture that could be a real home's worth of furniture, where as themes are just cool looking items that look nicely together, like a museum exhibit. - Assembling the "necessities of life" get you a small bonus. This includes a bed, table, chair, wardrobe, and a dresser/bureau. - When presenting a complete series or theme to the HRA, always place it on the first floor. Never on the second or basement. - Don't mix themes or series on the first floor. This will make the HRA deduct 4,000 points per object. - Furniture sets are meant to be placed on the second floor. When you complete a set, the HRA will multiply each item by 3,000. You can even place duplicate items up there. Don't mix two sets or you won't get the bonus. - NEVER place furniture toward a wall. A dresser is meant to be facing you. Use common sense. - A messy home isn't very attractive. 1 point will be deducted for each piece of clothing and letters on the floor. Place them on dressers or tabletops. - Your basement will NEVER be scored by the HRA. Sets are best scored on the second floor and themes and series are best scored on the first. SCORING SHEET ---------------------------------- METHOD POINTS Completed Furniture Series 48,000 Wallpaper and Carpet of Same Series 10,000 Wallpaper or Carpet of Same Series 4,800 Complete Necessities of Life (Same Series) 16,000 Complete Necessities of Life (Different Series) 4,400 Theme Furniture (# of pieces x7,000)+15,000 Wallpaper and Carpet of Same Theme 10,000 Completed Furniture Set (# of pieces x3,000) FENG SHUI ---------------------------------- Feng shui is a mystical method of arranging items. It actually exists in real life and has been brought into Animal Crossing. It isn't very difficult to figure out, especially with my catalog of furniture. Each item has color that is represented in Feng shui. The more items of that color that you have placed in the proper location, then you will score even more points than just putting the item anywhere. You will also gain some luck. COLOR DIRECTION LUCK IN Green South Money and Items Orange North Money and Items Red East Items Yellow West Money and Items Now what do the directions mean? Well it's actually quite simple. Each two spaces next to the wall in the direction. Here are the Feng Shui charts: Initial Space First Expansion Second Expansion YOOR YOOOOR YOOOOOOR OYRO OYOORO OYOOOORO YGGR YY RR YY RR GYRG YY RR YY RR GYGGRG YY RR YGGGGR YY RR GYGGGGRG YGGGGGGR NOTE: The center areas have no Feng Shui bonus, no matter what you put there. In the corners, there are two colors in a criss cross pattern. Both of those colors are on all four spaces. Oh, and for the idiots out there, Green = G, Orange = O, Red = R, and Yellow = Y. I'm one hundred percent sure that Feng Shui applies to the bottom floor, but I'm not so sure about the second floor. Hey, it doesn't hurt to try. FENG SHUI SPECIALS ---------------------------------- These items can upgrade your Feng Shui, no matter where you place them. Highly recommended for the middle, so you can save room for the ones that need to be placed appropriately. Angler Trophy Autumn Medal Big Festive Tree Dracaena Festive Tree Fishing Trophy G Logo Hinaningyo House Model Luigi Trophy Mailbox Manor Model Mario Trophy Piggy Bank Post Model Samurai Suit Spring Medal Tanabata Palm Tissue Treasure Chest Well, that's it. Hopefully, y'all will become HRA masters shortly after reading this. Have fun! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 24) Gameboy Advance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This section will explain what you do with your GBA, what you can do with your GBA, and what your GBA can do for you. It also contains info on the Island. How to Connect -------------- To connect everything, you must have a Gameboy Advance, Gamecube, Gameboy Advance and Gamecube Link Cable, Memory Card, and Animal Crossing. Basically, just start up Animal Crossing. Remember to plug your controller in slot 1. Plug the link cable in slot 2 and plug the other end in your link port of the Gameboy Advance. Start your game. Turn on the Gameboy Advance. Make sure that there are absolutely no cartridges inside the Gameboy (unless it is E-Reader, which is an entire section of its own). You are all set to begin. Sleep Mode ---------- One neat little function of the GBA is to put it into Sleep Mode. What you do differs between each use. Playing NES Games requires you to press L and R and select Sleep. The Design Tool and Animal Island require you to press Select to access a menu. Select Sleep. To leave Sleep Mode at any time, press and hold the buttons Select and L. There are several things that you can do with your Gameboy. They are: Play NES Games -------------- As long as you have unlocked some NES Games in Animal Crossing. You can play them on your Gameboy Advance. Just go up to the game on the big screen and press A to come to a menu. Select "Advance Play". The game will download to your GBA. You can now play it while you're away with the Gamecube off! Yet, if you turn of the GBA, the game will disappear from RAM. To solve this problem, put the Gameboy into Sleep Mode. Most games can be played on your GBA, but Wario's Woods cannot. We assume that it is too large for the GBA to handle, but there might be another reason. The Design Tool --------------- Another feature is the ability to design on your GBA. (See Special Tasks for the Design Tool's instructions on the GCN.) This is useful in case you wish to design a long and tedious project. Your siblings can take the GCN for a spin, while you go to your own private corner and start designing! To get the tool, talk to Mable and say "Download Tool". This will transfer your patterns and the tool to your GBA. You can then begin designing. However, due to the GBA's capabilities, the tool will appear darker than it is on the screen. It's just a small price to pay. Yet, another misfunction is the fact that there are no gridlines. This is because the GBA does not have enough pixels to generate the full tool. It still is fun to use. Be sure to put it into Sleep Mode before you upload it to the GCN. ANIMAL ISLAND ------------- This is more of a section on its own, but the other ones were so small that I decided to connect all of them together. Anyways, get the connections all set up. Then walk to the dock at the sea. Now, if the GBA is hooked up, an Animal named Kapp'n will be there. Talk to him and he'll row to your Animal Island. Leave the GBA on until you get off the boat. You can still leave it on if you want, but you'll waste batteries. The island is completely random for each town. You'll greet another animal on the Island. This one is randomly generated from the following list. Everyone's islander isdifferent, just like their town. ISLANDERS Ankha - Cat Annalise - Horse Bliss - Squirell Boomer - Penguin Bud - Lion Dobie - Wolf Drift - Frog Elina - Elephant Faith - Koala Flash - Pigeon Flossie - Rat June - Bear Maelle - Duck O'Hare - Rabbit Pigleg - Pig Plucky - Chicken Rowan - Tiger Yodel - Ape These Islanders can't be helped, but will have a few requests of items. If you bring them the items that they ask for, you might get something special in return. Your Islander will be necessary for the GBA connection thing that I'll talk about soon. I've noticed that all of the boys wear a blue shirt with white fancy designs on it and the girls wear red. Can anybody clarify that for me? There is also a house on the island. It is more like a community beach house. Anybody living in your town can connect a GBA and visit the island. Then they can enter it and move or take anything that they want. So don't put your absolute valuables there, unless your the only one living in your town. When you first enter it, there will be some shirts for you to grab. I think that they are the ones that the Islanders wear. Go ahead and do what you please with them. There is a flag flying on the island. You can use The Design Tool to make a design for it. Possibly, get some of your friends to decorate their islands with the same flag. That'd be cool. The island is always in a Tropical climate, so it is like an eternal Summer. Many of the insects and fish that you could only catch in the Summer months in your village can now be caught here, year-round! How's that for an incentive. There are many hidden treasures to get on your island. Each might require the shovel, net, or fishing pole. While you are at the island on the GCN, go ahead and leave those three tools on the island. Then talk to Kapp'n and arrange to visit the island using the GBA. Be sure to leave it on during this action. TOOLS Shovel - Give the shovel to your islander on the GBA, and he/she will dig up holes in search of treasure. You might come across a few. Net - Give the net to your islander to catch floating treasure. Remember those floating balloons? Well, there back and they have loads of gifts for you to collect. You'll have to be fast to nab one. Fishing Pole - When your islander casts the line of the fishing pole, you'll either get a treasure or a fish. Most of the time, a fish. What do you get as a treasure? Well many things really, but there are some that can only be gathered at the island. They are the following: ANIMAL ISLAND ONLY ITEMS Baseball (Please confirm. vegeeta77@nc.rr.com. Sent in by Thunderbird_16.) Beach Chair Beach Table Diver Dan Life Ring Snowcone Machine Surfboard Treasure Chest Ukulele Wario's Woods Wave Breaker All other items can be gathered in your town or the other normal locations. Another exciting feature of the Animal Island GBA thing is the ability to trade islands with a friend. If you're getting bored of the same old Islander or you think your island is dull, go ahead and trade with your friend's! You'll both like the results. Just select "Exchange Islands" when both of the islands are on two GBAs. It requires a connector cable. Be sure you want to do this. You may be stuck with the island for a while. I hope this mostly covers the Animal Island. If I've missed something that you think needs to be added, don't be afraid to e-mail me asking about it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 25) E-Reader ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to know the full list of every card? You've come to the right place. It will also help explain how to connect the E-Reader. The password section has been removed due to lack of interest. There are also design and town tune cards. However, since there are so many of them, I do not exactly intend to make a list for them. One may come by in the future, though. Series two should be out in Jan. 2003. I'll do my best to come up with yet another list. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 26) Special Events ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, there's always tons of events going on in your town (see Holidays), but there are a few that don't follow that special schedule. Here they are: Bridges are needed ------------------------------ When your village gets lots of people to move in, Tortimer will be hanging around the river. If you talk to him, he'll ask if you want to build a bridge in the acre he is in. If you don't like the acre, wait till' the next day. He'll keep switching acres every day until you make a decision. Place it in a spot that will save you much time in accomplishing a task that you do very often. Camping isn't just for scouts ------------------------------ During the summer times, some animals will set up campsites in the middle of town. If you speak to them, they'll engage in a conversation and may start a game with you. If you win or you purchase something, you'll get cool items. Available, only with the tent. Camping Gear ------------------ Backpack Bonfire Campfire Cooler Kayak Lantern Mountain Bike Propane Stove Sleeping Bag Tent Model Iglooin' ------------------------------ On a snow day, citizens will make igloo structures. How they do it, is a science of its own... But anyways, if you chat with the person inside, you may get a cool gift. Snow Day Items ------------------ Chowder Crab Stew Fireplace Igloo Model Sleigh Snow Bunny Snowboard Snowy Tree Model Lighthouse isn't a background object???? ------------------------------ Some time in January and February, Rortimer will ask you to turn on the lighthouse every day for seven days. Completing the task will reward you with the Chocolates/Lighthouse Model. Snowmen Galore ------------------------------ When there is snow everywhere, most likely, there's the snowman around. Find his three balls of snow and roll them around. If they are the right size and you put them together, they're form a snowman who'll give you a cool gift from the Snowman collection of furniture. See the corresponding Furniture list for more information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 27) Tips and Tricks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This area includes info on various tid bits of information that I may have come across. It should help you improve your daily habits. - ALWAYS dig up the stars on the ground. They usually contain fossils, which can be sold for thousands of bells. Especially, if you're short on funds. - Fishing is the best method to get bells. But, only if you're patient... - If you are filthy rich (like me), purchase every item that you don't have in your catalog from Tom Nook's store. Then sell it back if you don't want it. That way, if that's the one piece missing from your furniture set or something, you'll know how to get it quickly. - Upgrade Tom Nook's shop ASAP. You're only hurting your own shopping sprees when it isn't incredibly large yet. - Don't bother making friends, unless it really interests you. Or, if you want NES games. - The balloon that flies around holding an item never stops, till' it hits a tree. Don't waste your time using the bug net. - Visiting a friend's town often can be very profitable. And no, there is no benefit for riding the train a gazillion times. Know of some more tips? Send em' in! vegeeta777@nc.rr.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 28) Secret NES Games ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are many NES Games in Animal Crossing. Most of them have been explained in the NES Games section. Yet, there are several that elude our grasp. You'll know what I mean if you read on. I also have some codes to get some free games. Hassle free. The Animal Crossing website has had a code generator for quite some time now. I've been there every single time that they have changed the code generator. What it does is generates a code to give to Tom Nook. In return you get a NES game. I've compiled a list of codes for my town and the town of NES. Here you go: MY TOWN My Name: Veran My Town: Dargon NES TOWN Name: NES Town: NES WARNING! You must create a town with Veran in Dargon or NES in NES to use these codes. These are not universal, so they will NOT work in anybody's town but these two. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME UNLOCKED MY TOWN CODE NES TOWN CODE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clu Clu Land D SRJ9nwjXVauKLN y9i4DvHnfOsX6L FNfqSN8Guid@ez jmZDPI&Rmc3XUb ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donkey Kong 3 SRJ9cbhXVauKLv y9i4mvilfOsX6L HNaYSN8XuidCtz TmMmAg&Rmb3XUb ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donkey Kong Jr. AjIpEHDfGgzAYd yMi4S2HnftsX6L Xk@rtiMZSjIZiZ TmMIPV&Rmc3XUF ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soccer SRJ9cbhXBjuKLg yMW4F2ilfOsX6L HNaYSNKXuidCtz TmMIAV&Rmb3XUF ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To get the codes entered, there are two ways to follow. The easiest way is to go to Tom Nook and give him the code. Just go up to him and select "Say Code". Enter the codes above. The second way is to write a letter to a friend. This time, there is a format to follow. On the first line, make the key symbol. On the second, write the first line of code. Third, write the second line of code. You must use the enter button. No using extra spaces or it might mess up. Personally, I recommend the first technique. IMPORTANT: The NES codes do work, thanks to Videoshocker2 for testing that for me. All of my town's codes have been tested and do work. The code generator makes zero and o the same character. Be sure to keep that in mind when entering in the codes. So get out there and earn some NES games! (Do not send me codes generated by your name. I hope that this FAQ will not be a continously updated piece of work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 29) FAQ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This portion of the guide pertains to various questions about the Animal Crossing world. If you have a question, e-mail me at vegeeta777@nc.rr.com. I'll post it here with the answer! Q: What the heck is a pitfall? A: A pitfall is a wierd white circle thing with a red exclamation point in the center. What you do, is bury them. If someone walks over it, you, your friends, or the animals, then they will fall into a hole. You must press the A button continuosly to get out of it. The item will then disappear. Why they are in the game is a complete question, but I guess they are there for some quick laughs. (one of the most common topics on the message boards) Q: What is the difference between the memory card in the game and a normal card? Can you transfer your data? A: The difference between the memory cards is basically nothing. First of all, you can NOT transfer any of the data between the cards. That includes the town files. The card that comes with the game also has a bonus file on it. It has a picture of a letter on it. It makes one of the villagers in your town send you some mail a few days into the game. You will then receive a NES game. Otherwise, there really is no difference between the cards. My town is on my awesome 16x (1,019 blocks) card, because I gave the card from the game to my brothers. Just don't delete the mail file, there is absolutely no way to get it back. (sent in by DeliDude15) Q: Once I get my second floor in my house, is it OK to have the bottom floor filled with one series of furniture and the top filled with another? Like Exotic on the bottom and Blue on the top. Or does it lower my HRA ratings? A: It is highly recommended that you do just that. Do not mix the sets on the same floor though. I got more than 100,000 points for just putting the entire spooky set on the bottom floor. Then I had my slowly growing collection of modern items on the second. I also recommend that you put special feng shui items in your house. Finally, complete sets on the bottom floor are worth more than complete sets on the second. It is no where near completion, but I hope that soon it will become the best Animal Crossing FAQ on the net. Thanks to CJayC and his wonderful GameFAQs website. Let's all hope to improve it! Thanks to Morki_master_Wolf for the use of his Nintendo Power Animal Crossing Strategy Guide to fill in a few blanks in the Reference material. I'm not perfect, so of course I wasn't able to collect everything. The material includes a few songs, Redd only items, furniture, and two bugs. Also the best times to catch each bug and fish. Thanks to Videoshocker2 for several information tid bits. Testing the NES codes, help fill me in on the Golden ax info, and reminding to put the Post Office goodies list. Thanks to criswell22 for supplying a little secret about Redd. Thanks to Firefalcon2537 for correcting a spelling error. I spelled the duck, Pate, as Plate in the animal list. Thanks to Josh and Brian for telling and confirming that I missed the koala, Yuka in my animal list. Thanks to the other FAQs and Codes on www.gamefaqs.com. I may have used some of the material. I don't remember if or which, but I'm going to give some credit to them. Thanks to www.ign.com for accepting my FAQ at a version not accepted by GameFAQs. Thanks to you for reading this guide! To contact me, e-mail me at vegeeta777@nc.rr.com. Please send notifications of any errors or contributions. You will get credit. Promise. I want to make this the perfect free guide, so send in anything you have. Finally, please mention the site that you saw the FAQ at. That knowledge will keep my future FAQs at those sites. The only sites that have permission to display this guide are: http://www.primalfusion.tk http://www.gamefaqs.com http://www.ign.com http://www.gamespot.com To receive permission, e-mail me with the request. This took alot of work and I really would like to know who has posted my FAQ on the web. The first site that usually posts the most recent update is primalfusion. The reason being that it is my personal site and I control the exact upload. That happens when I send the updates to all of the other sites. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31) Legal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: If you are affiliated with any government, Anti-Piracy group or any other related group, or were formally a worker of one, you cannot view this FAQ, cannot access any of its sections, or do anything related to this FAQ.
