The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Juggernauts Copyright Acclaim 1992 Written By Brian P. Sulpher E-mail: briansulpher@hotmail.com Version 1.2 Dates Written: April 23rd to April 26th, 2004 I dedicate this FAQ to SubSane. The mere fact that he writes about so many god awful Simpson games while I write about one of the few decent ones, makes me appreciate how damn hard he works and how high his tolerance for this crap must be! Also, for Cougar, Howler, Koonce, and Gracey. I miss you, and I hope you are living it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my memories, and you will never be forgotten. ----------- Version 1.0 ----------- -Submitted FAQ on April 26th, 2004 ----------- Version 1.1 ----------- -Submitted guide on February 9th, 2005 -I added in Honestgamers as a site allowed to use my FAQs ----------- Version 1.2 ----------- -Submitted guide on July 13th, 2006 -Altered the format a bit and made a minor correction to Moe's Tavern Shove Fest that was a very bad oversight on my part ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------Table Of Contents------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Introduction 2) Game Premise 3) Four Weeks Of Gaming 4) Capt. Seriously, I can count on one hand all of the good Simpsons games, but this one happens to make it through as a rarity. So, sit back and enjoy the massively rich story! Kent Brockman: Live from the Springfield Arena. Welcome to another edition of Juggernauts! the show that invites you to win big prizes by taking on a series of pumped-up hulking brutes and takes no legal responsibility for any injuries you might sustain. I’m your award winning host, Kent Brockman and with me is guest commentator Dr. Marvin Monroe. Dr. Marvin Monroe: Hiya. Brockman: So who’s our lucky challenger today? Monroe: It’s Bart Simpson Kent. Bart weighs in at about 60 lbs. and just over 4 ft. tall. Brockman: And how big is our smallest juggernaut? Monroe: That would be Snarla, Kent. 6’2, 163 lbs. of catlike fury! Brockman: Meow! Heh-heh. Good Luck. Bart. Let’s play week # 1. I know it is THAT good! No really, it is a good story! SERIOUSLY, I... Okay, so it is a little weak. However, don't judge it by this, but instead step up and try it out. Give it a few rounds so you can appreciate the great events hidden under the massive challenge that exists simply from tough design and not from terrible controls (which is the usual affliction of a Simpsons game, causing that built-up challenge factor). Anyway, step up and kick some Juggernaut butt! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------Game Premise------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) This section will look into the premise of the game, ignoring for a moment that is a ridiculous idea for a game to begin with! So, you want to take part in a competition too severe for American Gladiators? You want to make some cash while embarrassing Juggernauts that are 2 to 4 times your weight in muscle? Maybe you just want to play a fun game? Well, step on up to Bart vs. The Juggernauts! Although it seems like a silly concept for a game, you will pleasantly surprised by the very different, fun, and challenging games that Bart must partake in to win his money and go for the ultimate prize! I will say this now however, you will need to experiment in each event to master it, allowing you to gain enough money to advance onwards. Practice, practice, practice is your motto, as you will learn how to win through trial and error. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------Four Weeks Of Gaming--------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) This section will take a look at the Four Weeks, including Games and the Money Totals you must reach. Also, the Bonus Game will be covered in this section. o----------o | Week One | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Events ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Capt. Murdock's Skateboard Bash and Crash 2. Your goal is to drop the Barbell Weights onto the Juggernaut's bar that is being carried above her head, adding enough weights to make her crumple under the weight. =================== Weight Requirements =================== Week One-Week Two : Four Week Two-Week Three : Six Week Three-Week Four: Eight ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Scoring ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Event Money : # of Weights X $100 Time Bonus : Time Remaining X $10 Win Event Bonus: $500 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------Capt. Murdock's Skateboard Bash and Crash----------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Howdy L'il Partner! A special Super Skateboard would improve your chances dramatically! So would a careful choice of Ramp Lanes! Captain Lance Murdock Well, in this event Bart will be heading down a long ramp, dodging obstacles while building up speed to allow Bart to Launch off the ramp to fly through the air to try and reach the Juggernaut protecting the platform Bart needs to get on. Bart will need to kick him where he is unprotected, so aim towards the body where his shield is not located. o----------o | Controls | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ On The Ramp ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D-Pad : Controls Bart's movements on the ramp, so press UP and DOWN to bypass the obstacles while speeding down the ramp. SELECT : No apparent use. START : Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: Press repeatedly to build up your speed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ In The Air ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D-Pad : UP will make Bart fly higher into the air, while DOWN will cause Bart to lower his trajectory. LEFT will slow him slightly while RIGHT will speed him up slightly. SELECT : No apparent use. START : Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: No apparent use. o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Grate..............: Found at the flat portion of the ramp before the lip that sends you flying. It does not always appear, but be ready to dodge it as it will slow Bart down completely. It will not wipe your run out, but without the speed Bart will be unable to launch himself at the Platform Juggernaut. Juggernaut Hand....: Able to appear in four different areas of the ramp, some of the hulking brutes will punch holes through the ramp from underneath, allowing them to try and grab Bart, costing him a Run. Pizza..............: Able to appear in four different areas of the ramp, these food products have been carelessly left lying around to disrupt Bart, wiping him out, costing him a Run. Platform Juggernaut: The goal of your run is to build speed, allowing Bart to fly at this large fellow. Dropkick him where his shield is not, or he will block your puny efforts to unseat him. o-------o | Items | o-------o Super Skateboard: Found behind the Platform Juggernaut, fly past him and touch it to collect. You will only be able to collect it twice, as it will not re-spawn afterwards. o----------o | Strategy | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ The Ramp ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i) The Ramp is divided into six portions: the starting point, slope one, slope two, slope three, bottom, and the lip. ii) Juggernaut Hands can appear in the first four portions. iii) Pizza can only appear in portions two, three, four, and six. iv) The Grate will only appear at portion five. v) You will only have to face four obstacles on every run down the Ramp, so this means two areas will be bare for safe passage. vi) There are two areas that dictate how the rest of the Ramp will be strewn with Obstacles. If the starting point has a Juggernaut Hand, no Obstacle will be found on slope one (the opposite holds true of no starting point Juggernaut Hand means slope one will have on obstacle). If the Grate appears at the bottom portion of the Ramp, then the lip will not have a Pizza resting on it (the opposite holds true of no bottom portion Grate meaning Pizza will rest on the lip portion). vii) If you wish to be a little underhanded while playing, pause the game as you enter every new portion, which allows you to scan for objects. You can then plan ahead of time which way to move, making the reaction time needed for this event far less than it normally is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ In The Air ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i) If you wish to be a little underhanded while playing, pause the game as the Platform Juggernaut appears on the right. This will allow you to line up your trajectory easier, making it less likely for failure on the dropkick attempt. ii) If you want to go for some extra cash, fly over the Platform Juggernaut to find a Super Skateboard. This can be done twice, as after the second collection it will no longer reappear. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although it seems like a way to make less money, the following will earn the typical player anywhere from an extra $1000-$2000! i) Use your first two runs to get the Super Skateboards. ii) Now spend your next two runs building up max speed, launching off the lip, and then flying over the Platform Juggernaut to go as far right as you can. DO this till you are on your last Run. iii) On your final Run, take out the Platform Juggernaut to win the game! o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Money....: More Runs = more money (knocking off Platform Juggernaut is good for $3000) Run Bonus......: # of Runs remaining X $500 Win Event Bonus: $500 o----------o | Glitches | o----------o i) When the Pizza is placed on the highest spot on the lip portion of the Ramp, Bart can ride right through it, provided he too is as high on the Ramp. ii) If any D-Pad direction is held as Bart leaves the ramp, he will not start his dropkick, thus the run will be wasted. iii) After hitting the Platform Juggernaut, Bart will be able to move straight up and down. If he moves down, he will pass through the platform, though this will not cause anything bad to happen. If you move upwards so Bart is not touching the platform, the game will not end till Bart touches down on it. If you move him off screen a bit, he can come back down, but if you move him up too far off screen, he will not return no matter what you do, making the game freeze on that screen! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------Dr. Marvin Monroe's Hop, Skip and Fry------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) For this event I'd suggest the contestant overcome his or her game playing inhibitions and experiment with some new moves! Dr. Marvin Munroe Here you will find two massive Juggernauts (Chunk and Super Chunk) jumping around the electrified floor without delay, yet Bart will need to stay on the safe, white squares while staying off the black, deadly squares. Take your ball up to the hoop at the top and score it before returning to the bottom area to do it all over again! o----------o | Controls | o----------o D-Pad...: Each direction will move Bart in the corresponding direction pressed while on the electrical floor. When at the very top or the very bottom, LEFT/RIGHT will move him thusly while UP/DOWN will put Bart onto the electrical floor (depending on where he is). SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: When held, this will allow Bart to jump the nearest square when combined with a D-Pad movement. This will also shoot the Ball when Bart is at the top of the area near the net, but it is easier to just hold the Button as you run at the net, getting a slam dunk. o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Juggernauts.: These guys will bounce Bart through the air in a random direction, landing him on a square that is within two squares of where the contact took place. This square can be white (safe) or black (electrified). Floor Panels: The floor has two phases, and it will switch back and forth between these two phases, switching the panels from safe to electrified and electrified to vice versa. This change will occur with every three flashes that take place on the screen between the two electrical diodes. The following is a map of the game floor in the beginning phase, so just alternate the colours when looking at it for Phase One and Phase Two. ___________ KEY | | BL - Black | ___________| NET __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ |BL|BL|BL| |BL| | | |BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL| |BL|BL| |BL| |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| | | | |BL|BL|BL|BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | | |BL|BL| |BL| | |BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| |BL| |BL| | |BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| | |BL| |BL|BL| | |BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL| | | |BL| | |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| |BL|BL| | | |BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL|BL| | |BL|BL| | |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | | |BL| | |BL|BL| |BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| o-------o | Items | o-------o Ball: Bart must collect this before he sets off for the top of the arena, as this is what he tries to get to the basket so he can score some money! o----------o | Strategy | o----------o i) Phase One recommended pathways, following the "xx" spots: => NET __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ |BL|BL|BL|xx|BL| | | |BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL| |BL|BL| |BL| |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| | |xx| |BL|BL|BL|BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | | |BL|BL| |BL| | |BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| |BL|xx|BL| | |BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| | |BL| |BL|BL| | |BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL| |xx| |BL| | |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| |BL|BL| | | |BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL|BL| |xx|BL|BL| | |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | | |BL| | |BL|BL| |BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| /\ || ii) Phase One recommended pathways, following the "xx" spots: => NET __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ | | | |BL| |BL|BL|BL| |BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| |BL|xx| |BL| |BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL|BL|BL|BL| | | | | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL|BL| |xx|BL| |BL|BL| |BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL| |BL| |BL|BL| |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL|BL|xx|BL| | |BL|BL| | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL| |BL|BL|BL| |BL|BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | |BL|xx|xx|BL|BL|BL| |BL|BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| | | |BL|BL| | |BL|BL| | | |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| |BL|BL|xx|BL|BL| | |BL| |BL| |__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__|__| /\ || iii) ALWAYS dunk the ball. This will not only get the usual Ball Bonus, but every dunked ball will count as an additional $100 from the Event Bonus as well. iv) If Chunk and Super Chunk get in your way, wait for them to move. It is not wise to risk their bump, as they tend to find black squares when they throw Bart as opposed to finding the nice safe white squares. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This strategy is risky in that the gains are few and you may accidentally lose the game, but it will score you an additional $200. So, you may wish to skip this strategy, as it is not really worth the effort. i) Make your way up to the top and back, but on two of the occasions, purposely jump onto an electrical square, sacrificing a Run. ii) This will put Bart back on the bottom where he can grab a ball and start back towards the net, but he will have saved the time to return. iii) Provided you score two more balls than you can without doing this (I usually score 9 when I do it without wiping out any Runs), you will be $200 richer! o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Money....: # of Dunks X $100 Run Bonus......: # of Runs remaining X $500 Win Event Bonus: $1000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------Moe's Tavern Shove Fest-------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) Try the Back Flip -- It's a real doozy! And keep your filthy paws off the mat -- That's my own personal table cloth on there! Moe Scizlak Bart will need to use his brawn and brain here to knock Snarla off the Pool table twice before she can do the same to Bart! If you manage this feat, prepare to meet a Moe's Tavern regular who has a mighty gut for Bart to contend with! o----------o | Controls | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Basic Controls ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D-Pad...: Pressing a direction will move Bart in the corresponding direction. SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: Shoves an opponent. A Button: Jump into the air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Advanced Techniques ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Backflip........: Hold B Button + DOWN, followed by UP Dropkick........: UP + A Button Running Headbutt: DOWN + A Button o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Barney Gumble: If you beat Snarla, the Moe's Tavern barfly will step onto the pool table to take a few shots at pushing Bart around! He uses a beer bottle shove frequently, though he will pull out a massive shove if you are not attacking (sending Bart over three-quarters of the way across the ring!). If Barney belches in Bart's face, he will be stunned temporarily for a few seconds, allowing Barney to throw his gigantic girth into a vicious shove! Snarla.......: The initial opponent for Bart, she is not too strong nor too persistent in her attacks. She prefers to use a hip pushing technique, though she will use a large push if you are not attacking (sending Bart over halfway across the ring!). If she kisses Bart, he will temporarily stunned for a few seconds, leaving him wide open for a large shove! o----------o | Strategy | o----------o i) The most important thing to remember in this event is to NEVER stop attacking. The moment you let up, the computer will immediately nail you with their stunning attack and a shove, or they will nail Bart with a vicious shove. ii) The best attack to use is the Headbutt... OVER AND OVER. This attack is quick to unleash, leaves a minimal area of Bart exposed to attack, and it is enough usually to push your opponent back continually to the edge of the pool table. However, IF your opponent is not in your line of attack, stop attacking or you will move Bart off the pool table yourself! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This strategy is risky in that you will be toying with the opposition for as long as possible, eliminating Barney Gumble at the last possible second. Since the Time Bonus is so pitiful, you gain more money for repeated fisticuffs than a fast finish. However, this comes at a severe risk as time can run out or Barney can knock a KO off of Bart, negating the $200-$500 gained through this strategy. o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Money....: More moves = more money Time Bonus.....: Time remaining X $10 KO Bonus.......: # of Runs remaining X $500 Win Event Bonus: $1000 o----------o | Glitches | o----------o i) Although I am not 100% sure this is a glitch, if you lose on KO against Snarla, you will regain it if you defeat Snarla and go on to face Barney. This just may have happened to make the battle against Barney begin on equal footing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------Nuclear Power Plant Bop `Till You Drop------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) Although I'll go to my grave denying it -- certain so called scientists insist our harmless nuclear byproducts can actually cause pain when coming in contact with skin! I say rubbish! C. Montgomery Burns Use your baton to beat the opposing Juggernaut senseless, knocking him into the nuclear waste three times before he can do the same to Bart! Remember that El Barto is not above cheating, so do not be afraid to take advantage of any "nuclear" opportunities that present themselves! o----------o | Controls | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Basic Controls ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D-Pad...: LEFT/RIGHT will move Bart in the corresponding direction on top of the nuclear silo. Holding DOWN will cause Bart to duck. SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: Swings the Baton in a Low Swing. A Button: Causes Bart to leap into the air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Advanced Techniques ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ High Swing: UP + B Button Jab Swing.: RIGHT + B Button o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Jousting Juggernaut: He is the big, hulking brute with a baton of his own, looking to make Bart take a nuclear bath. He prefers to use slower attacks, so he is predictable enough to dodge if you watch carefully. o-------o | Items | o-------o Nuclear Waste Glob: After a few blows have been exchanged, this highly toxic Item will fly up from the nuclear waste below. If Bart or the Juggernaut can time an attack to hit the glob a la baseball style, it will fly into the opposition, removing two ticks of their life meter! This Item is worth the effort to try and time the hit as it is just so satisfying to see the guy recoil backwards in pain! o----------o | Strategy | o----------o i) Jab Swings are by far the quickest and the computer is very poor at defending them. This makes them an ideal attack to se repeatedly, as it will not only score a lot of hits, but the Juggernaut will be stopped as he attempts to attack. ii) Make use of the Nuclear Waste Globs, as they will drain the Juggernaut's life meter quickly. They also score some serious cash. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Simply put, this game requires that Bart clear the Gladiator out three straight times in as short of a time span as possible. Due to the high Time Bonus that exists, it is impossible to make more money by prolonging the fight. However, if the individual sparrings go on long enough, make use of the Nuclear Waste Globs as they yield some good cash. Also remember that not dodging the attacks will lessen your Event Money considerably, so use Jab Swings to prevent attacks from the Juggernaut. o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Money....: More hits/dodges + Using Nuclear Waste Globs = more money Time Bonus.....: Time remaining X $50 KO Bonus.......: # of Runs remaining X $200 Win Event Bonus: $1000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------Herman’s Military Minefield Mayhem-------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) PSSST! Listen kid: this info is top secret -- you get me? Avoid the water balloons -- they're strictly verboten! And don't loiter on the minefield! Herman of "Herman's Military Antiques" Quite possibly the only unfair event contained in the game, you will need to parachute through a gauntlet of Water Balloons and Knives, followed by slowing down on the landing. Then Bart must traverse two mine fields, barbed wire, and Water Balloon throwers as he attempts to reach the finish line! Good Luck! You'll need it... o----------o | Controls | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Parachuting ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D-Pad...: UP will decrease the descent speed, while DOWN will increase the descent speed. LEFT/RIGHT will move Bart in the direction pressed, though the movement is slightly delayed. SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: No apparent use. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Minefield ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D-Pad...: Move the direction to wish to go. SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: No apparent use. o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Barbed Wire...: Found on the Minefield, Bart will have to crawl underneath it. During this time, Bart will be more vulnerable to Water Balloon attacks because of him being on his stomach (more body to aim at then when he is standing). Knives........: Thrown straight across the screen as Bart Parachutes, they remove one hit if they connect with the young Simpson. Land Mines....: If Bart steps onto one of these, he will lose one Run, regardless of how many Hits he had remaining. Water Balloons: Found in the Parachuting area (they fly in a big arc) as well as the Minefield area (thrown like grenades), they remove one Hit per contact. They also have the unfortunate effect of bouncing Bart backwards, often knocking him into a waiting Land Mine. o----------o | Strategy | o----------o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Parachuting ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i) Slow and speed up your descent as needed, allowing Bart to avoid the incoming projectiles. If it a Knife thrown early, slow up to let it pass, but if it appears the guy is waiting, then speed up and blow on by. Water Balloons fly in a large arc, is speed downwards to get inside their falling arc before slowing up so the next projectile can be gauged correctly. ii) When Bart reaches the bottom of the Parachute corridor, SLOW HIM DOWN! If you fail to do so, Bart will crash through the ground, costing him a Run! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Minefield ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i) Plan your route through the Mines while out of range of the Water Balloon lobbers, as it is difficult to move through the Minefield randomly while dodging incoming, watery attacks. ii) When you reach a point where you need to change your row on the Minefield, you will often find the Mine in the row you are stepping to will blow up. To avoid this, edge up against the Mine in the row you are leaving as the spot where it blows up is not right at the left edge, meaning that you can cheat up on it a little bit to make it possible to move down without igniting the other Mine. iii) While moving around, ALWAYS keep an eye on the Water Balloons that are incoming. They can really be placed in bad spots, so anticipate their landing areas, keeping Bart out of harm's way. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Complete the level without losing a Run will gain the highest possible score. To actually achieve this difficult to do feat, you must practice your Parachuting and Minefield maneuvers (especially the Minefield, as it is infinitely more difficult). Also note that if a Water Balloon/Knife or two hit you, this will not affect your score, unless you take three hits in a row, as your Hits will run out. o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Money....: $1000 for getting past Parachute portion of game Time Bonus.....: Time remaining X $40 Run Bonus......: # of Runs remaining X $1000 Win Event Bonus: $2000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------The Krustyland Hammer Slammer----------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) Here's a tip from your old pal Krusty: Keep pounding away and watch for those container of "Juggernaut Juice" -- the fruitlicious fuel of Champions! Krusty The Clown Here is what I consider to be the most intense yet enjoyable game in the entire cart. Four Juggernauts are positioned on large poles, seeking to climb down to lay a clubbering on Bart by taking his mallet from him. In order to survive, Bart must continually "ring the Juggernauts" by slamming the sensor to send the o----------o | Controls | o----------o D-Pad...: LEFT/RIGHT will move Bart in the corresponding directions. Tap either one twice in a row rapidly to make Bart sprint to the next pole. SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: No apparent use. A Button: Press once to get the power meter going, press again to pick power of your swing. o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Juggernauts On Poles: There are four of these brutes attempting to climb to the ground, where they can grab the mallet from Bart to put a stop to "El Barto", who is a real pain in their ass! o-------o | Items | o-------o Juggernaut Juice: Occasionally, a strange noise will occur, heralding the arrival of a can of this potent stuff. As it floats downward, snag it, and then the next pole you hit will send the Juggernaut that was on it flying off and out of your hair! o----------o | Strategy | o----------o i) RUN between every pole, as this gives the Juggernauts less time to move downwards. They will easily get you if you do not utilize the Run movement properly. ii) When you smack a pole's bottom, try to hit it as far to the right of the power meter as possible. This will drive the Juggernaut on the pole as far up as possible, making him less of a threat for a longer period of time. iii) If a Juggernaut is still well up his pole (use the small meter on the bottom to gauge), skip him as you run around, instead going after a Juggernaut is far closer to the ground. By prioritizing properly, no Juggernaut should ever come close to the ground where he could do mean things to Bart. iv) If you are lucky enough to be blessed with Juggernaut Juice, use it on Pole 1 or Pole 4, as removing one of these outside poles cuts down on the area you must patrol, making it easier for Bart to keep the Juggernauts off the ground. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sadly, there is no way to assure the highest score possible, as it depends upon the randomly appearing Juggernaut Juice. If it shows up, use it on either Pole 1 or Pole 4, making less area to cover. With one less Juggernaut to chase down, Bart will spend less time running, meaning he will get more Mallet Swings in. This in turn means he will gain extra money due to the extra swings, making Bart the most money possible. o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Money....: # of Mallet Swing Hits X $100 Win Event Bonus: $4000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------The Kwik-E-Mart Doggie Dodge------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10)Greeting valued challenger! Please allow me to offer some advice: certain helpful canine-type items left on my shelves by disrespectful customers should be of some use to you! A game that is difficult at first due to it's length, a savvy gamer will take their time as they progress, using the Items scattered throughout to their advantage, and timing their jumps carefully to make it to the checkout counter to have a Squishy! o----------o | Controls | o----------o D-Pad...: LEFT/RIGHT move Bart in the SELECT..: No apparent use. START...: Pauses/unpauses the game. B Button: Throws the Dog Bone Item. A Button: Bart will jump into the air. o-----------o | Obstacles | o-----------o Caged Dog....: These Dogs will growl (although the sound is quite bad) for a few seconds from within the cage they have broken, followed by leaping outwards. Jumping Dog..: Found between a few platforms, these guys will leap up and down in the area where Bart will have to jump through. Loose Dog....: Left on the loose, these guys will growl for a few seconds before they take off running after Bart. Sausage Ropes: Found high above gaps between platforms that are too far apart to leap across, use these to get across the gap. o-------o | Items | o-------o Arm Protector: This creation will allow Bart to stand still and let a dog come snarling and biting onto it, causing the dog to lep off the ledge. Dog Bone.....: With this in hand, press the B Button to make Bart bait the dog into jmuping off a ledge after it. Just note that the dog needs to be pretty darn close for this to work properly. o----------o | Strategy | o----------o This section will have a map of the level (only of most relevant areas you need to traverse), with the Dogs and Items laid out for you: __________________ Key | | A - Arm Protector | B - Dog Bone | C - Caged Dog | D - Loose Dog | J - Jumping Dog | S - Sausage Rope | T - Starting Spot | X - Finish | __________________| __________________________________________________________________________ | XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX| | _____________________| | _ _ | | _|_|_|_ | | ________________D______ _|_|_|_| | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ | | ________D____|_|_|_|_|_|_____ | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ _ _ | | _|_|_|_|_ _|_|_|_ |||| | | |_|_|_|_|_|_________|_|_|_|_ ________C|||||_____ | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ | | |_|_|_|_|_|_________________________A___ | | _ _ | | _|_|_ _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ _ _ _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ _|_|_|_ _|_|_|_|_ | | ______C_|_|_|_|_|___||_ _|_|_|_|_ _____________D__|_|_|_|_|_| | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ |||| | | |_|_|_|_|_|_________________D_____||||||____ | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ | | _______D__|_|_|_|_|_| | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ | | |_|_|_|_|_|____ | | _ S S S S | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | _|_|_|_|_ _ | | ___|_|_|_|_|_|_ _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | |||| _|_|_|_|_ | | ____||||||__|_|_|_|_|_| | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _ _ _ _ _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_| _|_|_|_ _|_|_|_|_ |||| | | ___C_|_|_|_ _|_|_|_|_ _|_|_|_|_|_|____||||||___D_________A____ | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _ _ _ ^ ^ ^ _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ | ||||| | | _|_|_|_|_ | | __B______|_|_|_|_|_|____|| J _|||||||_ J _____||_ J ___C_|_|_|_|_|_| | | _ | | _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ | | |_|_|_|_|_C__________ | | _ _ | | _|_|_ _|_|_ | | _|_|_|_ _|_|_|_ | | _|_|_|_|_ _|_|_|_|_ | |______________|_|_|_|_|_|_______________T_____________D___|_|_|_|_|_|_____| i) use your Items as soon as you get them (meaning use them on the next Loose Dog you happen upon), as you could end up losing a Chance as well as the Item by trying to save it for a future problem. ii) Caged Dogs should just be out waited, as they can only leap a short distance before disappearing for good. iii) Jump across gaps that Jumping Dogs patrol just as the Jumping Dogs start their downward momentum. iv) Start your jump towards a Sausage Rope just as it begins to descend, making it more likely Bart will be able to grab it. Let go at the highest point while holding LEFT to fall to the next platform. v) Perhaps the most important advice I can offer for this game is to take your time while moving through it. No time limit exists, it is really long, and rushing will lead Bart into the teeth of all the Dogs before you know what hit him. If you fall down through a hole as you get higher up, don't worry about it as you can re-climb without worry of the Dogs, as they will be gone from the previous trip through these areas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ High Scoring Strategy ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Simply put, you must do this all on your first chance while using all the Items that you find. This is how to score the highest possible score. o---------o | Scoring | o---------o Event Bonus.: Use of Items to rid yourself of Dogs. Yes! Now you and your family will travel in style in your very own Truck-O-Saurus! Step over annoying traffic jams and ignore crowded parking lots! Driving was never this much fun! You do indeed win the car crushing and flame spewing Truck-O-Saurus that appeared early on in the series as your ultimate prize (as well as the $100000+ that you garnered on the show)! This is a real tip of the hat to long time fans of the show, so do not be shocked if you are younger and have no clue what the object actually is. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------Final Word--------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12)As is the usual, this walkthrough is copyright property of Brian P. A pleasantly surprising game, especially considering that it is a Simpsons licensed game (if you have played the majority of Simpson's video games, you completely understand and agree with this statement). It is really tough at first, but after a few go arounds at it, you will begin to understand the games, allowing you to dominate and even win insane amounts of money! I highly recommend this game, especially for road trips, as it got me out west to British Columbia and back to Ontario. In fact, this was the first time I ever managed to finish it, and this is how I became such a fan of this great game (I believe it was in Winnepeg that I first won, on a rainy day, hiding out under the van while plugged into an extension cord with my old bulky Gameboy recharger)!
