THE BUGS BUNNY CRAZY CASTLE for NES FAQ by Golden Road Contact: golden_road15@hotmail.com Parts of this FAQ: 1--the objective 2--the items 3--the enemies 4--the levels 5--miscellaneous PART 1--OBJECTIVE Honey Bunny has been kidnapped by Wile E. Coyote, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, and Sylvester, and Bugs must travel through 60 levels in order to save her. To get past each level, Bugs must collect all 8 carrots in each level. PART 2--ITEMS Carrot--Bugs must collect all 8 carrots to get past each level. Each carrot is worth 100 points, except the 8th, which is worth a 1-up. Magic Carrot Juice--This makes Bugs invincible for 5 seconds. During this time, try to get enemies close to Bugs so he can bump into the enemies killing them. Any enemy killed with this juice is worth 100 points. Boxing Glove--Bugs can throw this weapon at an enemy to kill it. If it misses though, Bugs can get this weapon back. An enemy killed with the boxing glove is worth 500 points. 10 Ton Weight--This extremely rare item can be used to push onto or into enemies. If it crashes into an enemy, the enemy dies and you get 1000 points. The 10 ton weight moves one space at at time. Safe--This is just like the 10 ton weight, only it moves 2 spaces at a time. It's much more common than the 10 ton weight. Crate--This is just like the safe and the 10 ton weight, only it moves 3 spaces at a time. Bucket--This is like the above 3 items, only it moves 5 spaces at a time. Unfortunately, this is the most common of these four items. No Carrot Sign--This will actually kill Bugs if he touches it, but it does more that just that. It will bring you to a tough special level. If you win the special level, you get a 3-up. If you lose though, you are put back three levels. If you lose your last life to the No Carrot Sign though, the game is simply over, and when you continue, you will be back at the stage you died on. PART 3: ENEMIES There are basically 7 enemies in this game, and here they are, and how each one acts. Daffy Duck--He's easy to describe. He does not use passageways, pipes, or stairs. Usually, Daffy will go whichever way Bugs moves. If you move so that Daffy crashes into a wall though, he will start walking in the opposite direction. If he's doing this, he will always move right if you do not move, and he will stop when he hits the nearest wall to his right, and then you can control him again. Occasionally, if you take a single step, Daffy will not move, but usually, he will move in the direction Bugs walks. Interestingly, Daffy Duck appears brown in levels with Wile E. Coyote. Who the heck knows why? Yosemite Sam/Wile E. Coyote--Both of these enemies are identical. Like Daffy, they do not use passageways, pipes, or stairs. If they are on the same floor as Bugs, they will move toward him. If they are not on the same floor as Bugs, and Bugs is staying still, they will move toward Bugs. If they are not on the same floor as Bugs and Bugs is moving, they will walk which ever way Bugs is walking. If they bump into a wall, and if Bugs is on the other side of the wall OR Bugs is walking in the same direction of the enemy, the enemy will either walk AWAY from Bugs or walk in the OPPOSITE direction Bugs is moving until he bumps into another wall. For some reason, Yosemite same appears red and white in levels with Wile E. Coyote. Again, I do not know why. Pink Sylvester--This is the easiest of the Sylvesters. He CAN use passageways, pipes, and stairs. Interesting thing is, he can ONLY go up, and he ALWAYS goes up if he can. Other than that, he moves exactly like Daffy. He's basically a Daffy who always goes up pipes, passageways, and stairs. He can be easily distinguished from the other 3 Sylvesters because he is PINK. Black Sylvester #1--From now on, I'll simply call him the Black Sylvester. Again, he can use passageways, pipes, and stairs, and he ONLY goes up these things, and ALWAYS goes up these things. Other than that, he moves just like Yosemite and Wile E. He's basically a Yosemite or Wile E. who always goes up pipes, passageways, and stairs. Black Sylvester #2--He looks just like Black Sylvester #1, but he acts quite differently from any other enemy on the game (from now on, I'll call him the Blue Sylvester, even though he is obviously not blue, to simply avoid confusion between him and the other Black Sylvester). Again, he can ONLY go up passageways, pipes, and stairs, but he will not ALWAYS go up. If you don't move, he will ignore these things. In fact, if you move when he is going straight, being careful not to move for every fourth step he makes, and he will NEVER move up a pipe, passageway, or stairs. Also, his walking patterns are very bizarre, and harder to discribe than any other enemy, but I will try. Generally, he will walk in the direction you walk, but he will not stop when you stop (unlike the pink Sylvester)--he will keep going until he bumps into a wall, when he will keep walking back and forth. When he walks back and forth, he will walk the opposite direction Bugs walks, but will start walking back and forth again unless Bugs keeps walking. This enemy looks identical to the other Black Sylvester, and the only way to distinguish them is to look at their movements. If you ever see a Black Sylvester NOT go up a pipe, passageway, or stairs, it's this type. Green Sylvester--He can easily be distinguished from the other Sylvesters because he is the only green one, and for that matter, the only green enemy on the game. Again, he is a bit different from all the other enemies on the game. He is the only enemy you have NO CONTROL over. You can never make him walk a certain way by having Bugs walk a certain way. He can go both up and down stairs, passageways, and pipes. If Bugs is above him, he will always go up. If Bugs is below him, he will always go down. If Bugs is on the same floor as he is on, he will USUALLY go up, but not always! Also, an interesting thing about this enemy: if he bumps into a wall, and Bugs is on the other side of the wall, he will RUN AWAY from Bugs! And he will keep running away from Bugs until he bumps into ANOTHER wall. This ALWAYS works for this enemy though (although it SOMETIMES works for all the enemies EXCEPT for the Blue Sylvester--it NEVER works with him). PART 4: LEVELS I will note what enemies are in each level. Here's the key: D--Daffy Duck Y--Yosemite Same W--Wile E. Coyote P--Pink Sylvester B--Black Sylvester X--"Blue" Sylvester G--Green Sylvester An * behind an enemy indicates which enemies should be killed in each level 1--X*G* 2--B*G* 3--B*G* 4--B*X* 5--Y*B*G* 6--D*P*G* 7--B*X*G* 8--W*X*G* 9--D*P*X*G* 10--Y*BX* 11--Y*B*G* 12--PB* 13--D*P*B*X* 14--Y*X*G* 15--Y*B*G* 16--BX* 17--WB*X*G* 18--Y*B*G 19--Y*PB*G 20--B*X*G* 21--X*G 22--W*X*G* 23--DX*G* 24--D*X*G 25--Y*X*G* 26--D*B* 27--Y*P*G 28--P*B*G 29--D*P 30--DYW 31--W*PX 32--YP*X* 33--D*P*X*G* 34--YP*B 35--P*B*G 36--D*PG* 37--PX* 38--Y*XG* 39--W*P*G* 40--D*BG* 41--Y*B*XG 42--W*P*X*G* 43--X*G* 44--WB*X* 45--YPB* 46--D*P*B*X*G* 47--P*B*G 48--P*B*X*G 49--YG* 50--DPG* 51--D*B*X*G 52--W*PX*G 53--YP*B*X*G 54--D*P*X*G* 55--WPB*X* 56--PB*X* 57--DP*X*G* 58--DP*B*X* 59--YP*B*G 60--Y*W*PXG Here are some other hints for some of the levels: Level 19--You MUST kill Yosemite Sam in this level--you cannot get past this level if you don't. There are only 2 boxing gloves in this level, so make SURE you save one of them for him. Level 22--There is a Wile E. Coyote at the bottom of the stage. But you have to drop blindly to where he is! How can you make SURE you don't fall on Wile E.'s head? Here's how: stand on the floor right above the bottom of the stage, and stand as far right as you can go (DO NOT keep running into the wall, but stand still next to it). Wait a while, then QUICKLY fall down the ledge on the left side of the floor you're on, and climb the stairs there. Wile E. will always be to your right when you fall, and now you'll be able to see where he is at the bottom of the level. Level 23--Do the bottom of this level first. If you do the top first, you will have to do a blind drop, and you might land on Daffy's head. Also, make SURE you kill the blue Sylvester with the magic carrot juice! Level 24--At the beginning of the level, take a couple of steps to the right. After a few seconds, take two more steps. The bucket will fall off the ledge and land on Daffy's head, so you won't have to worry about a blind drop with Daffy down there. Level 25--It IS possible to kill an enemy with the bucket in this level, but it MUST be the green Sylvester. Get him to go up the left pipe on the third floor, and then you go up the right pipe. When he gets out the pipe, he will go up another pipe. When he does this, go down your pipe, wait a few seconds, and come back up. If your timing is right, Sylvester will come out of his pipe and walk right under the bucket! Level 28--Clear the right side of the level first, but don't rush to the left side. Wait at the stairs that lead down for a pink and black Sylvester--if you don't wait, they will ambush you on your way down. Level 30--NO WEAPONS IN THIS LEVEL! I'm sorry there is no hints I can give here. Just practice, practice, practice! The No Carrot Sign to S1 is here. Level 31--The easiest thing to do is to walk RIGHT as soon as possible. Wile E. should fall to the right side of his platform, and he will be trapped in a small area where he is very easy to kill. Just make sure you DO kill him, or he will prevent you from getting the last carrot. Level 36--Make SURE you kill Daffy! If you don't, you will have to do a blind drop later in the level, and you COULD land on him! Level 41--The No Carrot Sign to S2 is here. Level 43--My only question is why is this level so late in the game? This has GOT to be one of the EASIEST levels on the game! Level 45--The No Carrot Sign to S3 is here. Level 46--This is the first level with FIVE enemies in it! Fortunately, there are tons of weapons: a magic carrot juice, 2 boxing gloves, and a crate. Level 48--This is really just a point of interest: this is the ONLY level in the game where the 4 enemies are the 4 different Sylvesters. Level 52--Make SURE you save the boxing gloves for Wile E. Coyote and the Blue Sylvester. Otherwise, the level will be very tough. If you want a real challenge, kill the other two enemies instead. Also, at the begining of the level, walk LEFT so that the pink Sylvester climbs the left passageway instead of the right one--this will make the level much easier too. Level 53--QUICKLY clear the bottom of the level (forget the bucket, unless you really want to use it), and then keep running into the small ledge on the right side of the level. All the enemies should fall over the right side of the level! Then climb the middle of the level to the top, and then fall to the right to get the last carrot. Level 55--VERY hard level. Forget the bottom of the level, rush AS FAST AS YOU CAN to the top of the level to get the carrot in that little room on the left top of this level. If you don't go fast enough, 3 Sylvesters will fall into the room guarding a carrot, and since there're only 2 weapons in the level, you can only kill 2 of the Sylvesters, and you won't be able to get past. If you should be so lucky as to still have the boxing glove when you're finished with the top part of the level, you can use it on Wile E. Coyote at the bottom. If you don't still have the boxing glove, stand on the right ledge of the floor right above the bottom. Wait a while, then rush off the left side of the platform. This will avoid a blind drop where you can potentially land on Wile E.'s head. Level 59--Unless you are VERY good, you must kill the pink and black Sylvesters in this level. They guard a very tight passageway that's very tough to get through unless you kill them. Again, if you want an extra challenge, kill the other 2 enemies. If you hit 2 enemies with a weapon at the same time, unfortunatly, they don't both die. Here is the "order of death" in case you hit 2 enemies at once: Black Sylvester Green Sylvester Pink Sylvester "Blue" Sylvester Yosemite Sam Daffy Duck Wile E. Coyote The password to level 60 is YTKX. This is the ONLY password you need to know. If you press up on the level/lives screen, you can chance the level to any level you wish to play. PART 5: MISCELLANEOUS The GameBoy version of this game has 80 levels, but this version only has 60. But oddly, the GameBoy passwords for the additional 20 levels DO work on this game. The passwords for levels 61 to 64 send you to S3, S2, S4, and S1 respectively. The passwords for levels 65 to 80 send you to messed up levels. Is there any way to do any of these levels? I do not know. I do know that in level 74 is the only level where you can actually see Bugs, though not the floors or anything. If you type in XHO2, you can visit a very messed up level 80, and you can even see a Blue Sylvester on the screen. After you win the game, you start on level 1 again. Unfortunately, it's the exact same as the first time you beat the game--it gets no harder. To contact me, my e-mail is: golden_road15@hotmail.com These pages are MINE, Golden Road (i.e. Mallory P.
