Players can play as either Jake or Elwood, going through five different levels in search of five different musical instruments that are located at the end of each stage. On the way, they will encounter multiple police officers, construction workers, thugs and other riff-raff. Jake and Elwood do not have any actual attacks themselves. Instead, both of them can pick up crates and throw them straight forward to take out enemies that hinder and pester them. -------- CONTROLS -------- A - Climb up on top of crates (when standing right on front of one) - Jump B - Grab Crates - Throw Crates (when holding a Crate) Select - Pause/Unpause the Game Start - Open and close your Menu Left/Right - Move through the Levels --------------- JAKE OR ELWOOD? --------------- No question, Elwood is the superior choice here. He has a superior height when jumping, which is especially helpful for tricky long jumps given the number of spikes in this game. ----------------------------------------------------- AUDIO DISCS/BONUSES, WRAPPED BOXES, LIVES AND ENCORES ----------------------------------------------------- Throughout each level, you will find multiple audio discs. Each Audo Disc you collect adds 1 point to your 'Bonus' counter, which you can see when you open your menu up with the Start menu. When you collect 100 points, the Bonus counter rolls over and you get an extra Heart onto your life meter, which tops out at 5 Hearts. Wrapped boxes come in two varieties. There are 'good' wrapped boxes which add 20 points to your Bonus total, and the walkthrough typically mentions if you can pick up a wrapped box or not. 'Bad' wrapped boxes will burn your character, not actually dealing any damage but removing 20 bonus points. You cannot tell the difference off-hand. In Level 4, there are also razor-like items that also remove 20 points. Approximately once per level, there is an item that gives you a Life Up. If you lose a life, you start exactly where you lost your last heart on the stage. If you lose all your lives, you can restart the stage over again as long as you have an Encore. If you run out of Encores, however, it is then Game Over for you. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Walkthrough -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [WALK] --------- LEVEL ONE --------- Head right and pick up a box from the trio of boxes. Continue right and throw it at the first cop that you wander across. Return and grab a second box and throw it at the goon you wander across next in front of a storefront. Backtrack once again to the starting pile and use it on a second police officer, then return to get another box from in front of the store to throw it at a third officer. Climb up the stairs at the end of the long street to start going left next (do not bother trying to jump in front of the wrapped box. It appears to be some sort of bomb that only, for comedic effect, burns up your character but does not do any actual damage. However, it will remove 20 away from your Bonus score. There are 'good' wrapped boxes that increase your bonus by 20, however, most of which are indicated as such in this walkthrough). Up the stairs, grab the first box you see to throw it at another baseball bat-wielding thug and continue on. Walk up the next set of stairs and collect all the Audio Discs, then continue left and off the platform. Progress until you confront another police officer, and jump over the bullet he shoots and then over the copper himself, and head up the next flight of stairs. Up here, jump onto one of the two balloons and it will automatically fly up, with your Blues Brother on it. Move around to grab as many Audo Discs as you can, but when you approach the ceiling at the top, move left, and press left on falling to go into a corridor hidden away in the left wall. Pick up a box to go left and throw it at another enemy while collecting more Audio Discs, then grab a second box and head left and up the ladder. Throw your box at a gardener wielding a rake, then grab all the remaining Audio Discs up here. Head back down the ladder and down right. Grab the second balloon and collect the remainder of all the Audio Discs in the air that you can grab. You can fall down wherever you need to, as if you fall to the left, you can hop from the top of the stairs to another layer of steps to your upright. Take the elevator going up and down on the right end (you may be waiting a while), and grab some Audio Discs as you go by and jump over the goon. There is a Heart hidden behind one of these Audio Discs, and you do not top out at three, so you can keep adding more Hearts on to increase your lifespan until you have Five (5) of them. Grab one of the two boxes in the centre of the corridor (again ignoring the wrapped present) and go right to throw it at another police officer. If you missed the heart earlier while trying to get past the thug, grab the second crate and throw this one at him to continue collecting Audio Discs. Once you hit the right end of the hallway, you will come to a number of conveyor belts. Follow them down and go left at the third belt down a long hallway, grabbing another Heart and some more Audio Discs, then grab the crate. Head right and take the higher passageway, and throw the crate at a goon. Drop down the gap, grab another crate, throw it at another goon. Take the last box and walk down the hallway, and stop shy of the next crate, and toss the current crate you have to eliminate an enemy off-screen. Take the crate next to the elevator, and hop on when it comes by. Jump off to your left when it goes up, and take a second elevator, throwing the crate in your possession at a copper once you reach the height of your travel. Go back down to retrieve another crate. Take the same elevator back up, then head up two more elevators and exit out left to go outside, throwing the crate at another police officer when you encounter him. Head left from here, hopping over a pair of gardeners walking right, and jump onto the tree with ledges at the end. Travel up the ledges until you make it to the top, and grab one of the crates up here. Travel right, and throw your crate straight forward as soon as you drop down to the ledge below to take out another enemy hanging around on a cloud. Drop down to the right of the first cloud for a small extra cloud platform to use to jump to the next cloud, and continue until you come across another pair of crates. Pick one of them up, jump over another couple of clouds and throw a crate at another enemy. From here on, head right until it looks like there are no more clouds to continue on. Take a leap of faith from here to fall down to the ground through a lot of Audio Discs - collect as many as you can. On landing, you can go left and take a single balloon up to grab as many more Audio Discs as you can before falling again for still more. After that, you can take a ladder to your left to climb back up some more platforms and take still more jumps for more Audio Discs. The Audio Discs are not really important other than as a bonus item, so when you are finished with the level, head right on the ground to find the guitar and finish this level. --------- LEVEL TWO --------- Walk right and jump on top of the background boxes for three Audio Discs to start the level. Jump up to the right and then left and continue left to find some more Audio Discs. Head back right and onto another box for some more Audio Discs, and move over the crates to dodge fire from another goon. At the end, fall off the boxes, then jump right onto another platform, then slowly make your way down for Audio Discs, then up and right for more Audio Discs. On one of the upper right platforms, you should notice a cylinder shaped hole in the ceiling. Jump up this hole and you will automatically clear it. Land to the left to grab a crate, go back down the cylinder, then hop up again to the right, taking out a construction worker. Retrieve one of the crates up here and go down the ladder, chucking it at a second construction worker. Take the box down here and use it at at third construction worker. Travel around and get all the Audio Discs. Head back up the ladder, retrieve the remaining box in the hallway, and go left past the cylinder, and throw the box in your hands at still another construction worker. Backtrack a little to take another crate in this hallway and continue walking left, and eliminate another construction worker around the ladder at the end. Climb up the ladder and head right over a conveyor belt, and jump over the spike bed (this does not kill you, just takes away a heart). Crouch and crawl underneath the wrapped box, then jump over a second spike bed, and grab this wrapped box. Hop over a third bed of spikes and next take up the ladder. Up top grab a crate and hop onto the floor to your right, chucking the box at a construction worker. Walk right and fall down to the left once you fall off to land in a short hallway. Take a box and throw it at the construction worker (crouch if he throws first before you can get to the box), then grab the Life Up here. Head back right and fall down, pressing left again to travel into a familiar corridor. Fall down the cylinder and then jump back up again to the left side, take the ladder back up, and hop over the spike beds again and go up the ladder at the end. This time, head left, running underneath an upside down spike bed platform that travels up and then sinks down, dodging a construction worker, then running past two more mobile spike beds, and hop left over the gap at the end. Take the ladder down, and continue left over some more spike beds. Jump up to the right once you hit the opposite side of the corridor, collecting a lone Audio Disc on the way. Jump over a construction worker and climb the boxes and then jump onto the metal beams. Go left and climb the left- most ladder/metal beam, dodge a construction worker's attacks, and hop up and to the left for more Audio Discs. Jump back down and hop over the worker for more Audio Discs, then go right and hop up onto another metal beam. Head right and grab still more Audio Discs, and hop up the first set of platforms for the wrapped box up top. Ignore the second and third wrapped boxes up above and instead continue right, jumping over another construction worker on your way, until you get back outside. Take the first ladder you see, then jump up left, right and then left again, and crawl past numerous falling spike beds. Once you get outside, jump off the spring for a high bounce up to the left. Fall down a slope to another spring, and repeat the pattern of bounce and slide a couple of times until you hit a ladder. Jump left from the top of the ladder to land over a construction worker's head. Climb up the next stack of barrels and take a ladder up to the top of the construction side, then drop down the top of the chute to be transported to the lower right corner of the stage. Down here, hop up the barrels to find yourself a pair of headphones, wrapping up this level. ----------- LEVEL THREE ----------- Head down the ladder to your left to start. Once the soldier walks to your right, drop down and go left for a crate to throw at him, then continue right and down another ladder. Ignore the next ladder to your right and instead jump onto the fence and climb straight right until you hit a wall. Drop down and crawl through a narrow space. Head up two ladders for some Audio Discs, then up a third ladder and jump up to the top ledge. Crawl through another crawl space for more Audio Discs, then take the two ladders indoors down and head right outside. Duck and wait for the man with the bazooka to fire before jumping over him, and duck again until you can rush right to safety and Audio Discs. Continue walking right and down a slope and hop off, holding right all the time to narrowly land on a platform (if you miss, you will take a hit and lose a heart, and should quickly jump to the narrow strip of space right to the far right). From the platform jump right onto the lower right corner, and climb up the ladder. At the platform up top, jump up to the left. Quickly grab the crate and chuck it to knock out an enemy wielding a bazooka. Leap off to the left for a small platform and then up to the left for another platform with a Heart. Drop down the right side from here. Ignore the top floor and drop down to the next highest floor. Toss a crate at the gladiator inside, then head down the ladder, left and up a ladder into a cells area. Grab both crates to the right to knock out a soldier and a police officer before heading left and down another ladder to the bottom. Crawl through some narrow spaces going left for more Audio CDs and then down the next couple of ladders. Obtain some more Audio CDs while travelling left up and down past spikes in the floor, then up a few more ladders at the end, dodging one rat going around. Fall off the right up top and crawl through another space. Walking right through an open corridor, duck and jump over another bazooka shooter, then leap onto the ladder and climb up. Head left and over some platforms, then continue left and down the first ladder you come across. Drop down several platforms, retrieving multiple Audio CDs in the process. On the bottom floor, line yourself up at the centre of the floor and press Down + A to drop to a floor below with a Heart. Hop up to the right where this wrapped box will not adversely affect you. Return back to the ladder up top and go right slightly, then press Down + A to drop down through this floor. Crawl through the space at the bottom, dodging a rat, then take the ladder down and head left and up another ladder. Jump off the ledge for a Life Up, then return back right. Continue down the hallway, standing on top of the fountains to avoid the rats, and take the ladder down at the end. Grab the crate here and go up the next ladder. Throw the crate right through the wall and then crawl through. After taking some more Audio CDs, climb down, hopping off to the left or right to avoid a spike, then climb down a second ladder. Head left and up a ladder and take a crate up top to throw at a soldier and continue marching left and over a rat. At the left end, take a ladder down and drop off to the right to avoid a spike. Jump over several more spikes and crawl through the small crawlspace and grab a crate to throw at a prisoner coming up shortly. Once you get past him, hop up to a high ledge. Crawl through a gap, grab a crate, then head right and chuck the crateat a police officer. Head to the far right and hop off the box for three more Audio Discs, then return left, head up the ladder with a crate, and throw the box at the soldier up top. Hop up two background boxes going up, then walk right until you get to another floor that you can drop down. Drop down, take some Audio Discs, then head on right and up a ladder to grab two wrapped boxes. Return back left and make use of the boxes in the background to jump up a couple of floors again, and walk right to a ladder with a wrapped box up top this time. Proceed back down the ladder and head left and up this ladder. Get to the opposite side of the bazooka grunt to grab a crate and throw it at him. Hop onto the springs and leap to the top and go right, using a crate to knock out a policeman. Leap right at the end, grab another crate, jump over to the next platform, and throw the crate at a soldier when you come by him while going right. Drop down the floor about where the soldier was (align with the right end of the Audio Discs below you) to avoid a spike bed, and take the ladder down on the right side of this room. Take a crate and go back up the ladder, then move left and fall down, then go down another ladder. Avoid the rabbit and head right, and make use of the box in your arms to take out another bazooka-wielding person. Take the ladder that he was guarding up. Head right and jump up, then crawl underneath the first platform SLOWLY and jump over right and then make a running leap left. Avoid smashing into a spike wall and this time make a similar running leap up to the right, then quickly hop over another spike. Climb down the ladder and drop off to the left to avoid a spike. Take the guitar to your left at the bottom to finish this level. ---------- LEVEL FOUR ---------- You will notice several sort of razor-like items littered throughout the level. These are like the wrapped boxes that burn you - they do not cause any damage, but they WILL take 20 points away from your Bonus. Grab the two Audio Discs to your left once you start, then jump onto the crate and following the top ledge for more Audio Discs. Fall back down the left side to take the crate and go right, throwing it at an enemy and grabbing some more Audio Discs. Return left and fall down a section of wall using Down + A, then head right down below to the end and up a ladder. Ignore the construction worker to your left, then go right and hop over a second construction worker. Climb the ladder above his head, and go right, grabbing more Audio Discs, then fall down the right side of the wall. Hop over the first construction worker down below and run past him. Take the crate in the next section and throw it at the worker up here, then go down the ladder and droppable floor behind him. Down below on the ground, head left past the cracked windows and jump over a pair of construction workers. Use Down + A to drop down, then continue to drop down a section of floor with a chute underneath it. Duck once you land to avoid projectiles from another construction worker, then head left for a wrapped box and several Audio Discs as you jump up left and right and crawl underneath one razor at the top. Jump left from the top of the ladder for a Heart, and quickly climb up the platforms before you are attacked by another construction worker. At the top of the platforms, head left, hopping over another worker and grabbing more Audio Discs. Drop down, retrieving still more Audio Discs, until you fall next to two crates. Take one of them to chuck at the nearby bazooka- wielder, then grab the other crate and go right and throw it at a second construction worker. Return back left and go down a ladder for a third crate. Head past where that worker was to fall down and go left off a slope for more Audio Discs before landing. Walk left and throw your crate at another worker. Ignore the ladder and instead head left and drop down a long shaft. Hop onto the crates here to recover some more Audio Discs, then jump right over the platforms to the ledge at the end. Grab the crate you see here immediately for use on a construction worker, then scale the platforms up left and right, grabbing a crate on the way. Take the ladder up top and throw your crate at a worker, then drop down to the left side of the ladder for another crate and go right and down, throwing your crate at still another enemy. Take the crate near where you waylaid the worker and continue straight right onto some platforms, knocking out another worker. Just left of where the worker was standing, hop onto a high platform and ascend up, hopping left for a Heart. Move right, take a crate, drop down the right end and throw the crate at another worker still. Head left and slide down a slope. Repeat twice more, and press and hold left coming off the third slope to land in a corridor. Go left and take the wrapped box in the hallway but NOT the one that you need to jump for. Drop down to your right and walk over, and immediately jump up and climb a ladder when you have the chance. Go back down the next ladder and then hop up a chute, grab a crate, then go down, up, down and up another long chute, tossing the crate at an enemy before taking the next chute down. Head all the way right in the below corridor for a Life Up, then return back and head back up the long chute. Up above, take a crate up the first ladder and hop off the other crate to the higher platform and go up the chute. Up top, move right and jump up onto a ladder. Climb up, head left and toss the crate at another enemy, grabbing a Heart in the process, before climbing back down. Go to the right side of this room to fall down a long shaft. Walk right and jump up a chute, then take the box in here and jump up a second, longer chute, followed by two more chutes, concluded by throwing the box in your hands at an enemy up above and immediately docking to avoid his return fire. Climb the ladder behind where your foe was. Walk left, take a crate, then climb up the short ladder to the right to throw at another enemy. Follow it up by jumping up the stone ledge to your right. Hop over the first construction worker, grab a crate, and throw it at him. Take the second crate and dash left, throwing it at another construction worker. At the end of this area, find yourself the CD which will finish up the penultimate area. ---------- LEVEL FIVE ---------- Take one of the crates to start and walk right, taking out a construction worker. Head back for a second crate and run right again, throwing it this time at a police officer. Take some Audio Discs on top of the barrels, then double back and leap up to a ladder and climb up. Climb the ladder to your left for a wrapped box and three more Audio Discs, then return down the ladder. Jump off to the right to collect a row of Audio Discs, then take the ladder up at the end. Hop onto the metal beams to go around and collect a smorgasboard of Audio Discs, then drop down to the left and hop off a crate for two more Audio Discs. Take the crate and drop down to your left to chuck it at a copper, then after taking more Audio Discs, continue walking left. Climb up the stairs. Once you land on top of a metal beam, crawl right past a ladder, dodging fire by staying down to grab a wrapped box, then quickly dash back left. Climb the scaled fence up and jump over some more metal beams and climb up more scaled fence, taking a wrapped box at the top metal beam platform. Walk to the right to where the last scale fence is right underneath the beam, climb down and fall down. Grab a crate and quickly throw it at police officer to your right. Grab some more Audio Discs on top of crates as you head right. Once you fall down, head left for a wrapped box. Hop back up left and go all the way left back to the construction crane structure, taking the metal beams and scale fence up to the top. This time, walk right for some time, hopping over one construction worker on the way, and fall off at the far end, pushing right as you land. Climb up several ladders, grabbing a few Audo Discs on the way up. For the last couple of platforms, make sure you press against the wall so you do not take damage from the spikes. Up top, head right and go up some stairs, a ladder, more stairs and several spikes platforms. Head left and grab a crate. Make a running jump left onto a metal beam, and release your crate in a police officer's face. Take a second crate over here and go left and up several ladders. Ignore the thug and instead run left and hop onto a platform and then onto a high scaffold tower, climbing it up with crate still in hand. Up top, go right and throw it at a police officer (you should see his legs) and then collect several Audio Discs. Continue right until you get to some scale fence. Go down the fence and crawl right a little bit to drop on top of a metal beam for some Audio Discs. Jump right over a spike, grab some more Audio Discs, then take the fence to climb over yet another spike. Drop down from a metal beam to collect some more Audio Discs, grab a crate, then walk right past the metal beam for some more Audio Discs. Walk right with crate still in hand and go down a ladder. Throw the crate at a policeman. Move back and take the other crate, then go down some more ladders and toss this second crate at a construction worker, dodging as soon as you let go. Take the crate here and go down the ladder at the left end, hopping off to the right to avoid a fire right underneath the ladder. Toss the box at yet another policeman, then go down the next ladder. A ladder later after that, head left, hop over a pair of fires, then go up the metal beams for multiple Audio Discs. Jump down the left side and return over the fires, then head down over the next ladder. Drop straight down, and drop down another droppable floor (Down + A). Take the ladder down below. Walk left, retrieving multiple Audio Discs. Climb up the ladder, then jump over a bunch of small metal beam platforms to ascend a vertical level. Grab some Audio Discs going left, then slowly go back down this area, collecting more Audio Discs on top of those you obtained before. Near the ground floor, go to the left side to take a crate. Drop down the ladder and throw the crate at the thug waiting for you down in the hallway. Walk along the hallway until you get to the end, and wait for an elevator to come down. Get on once it comes around. Move into the room to your right. Take some Audio Discs from the room, then retrieve a crate and climb up the ladder. Up top, throw the crate at another construction worker. Climb the metal beam tower right next to the ladder, and hop off to the right for a Life Up (not that you will really need it very soon). Go up to the top for a crate and throw it at another thug, then drop down back to the lower metal beam floor. Head left for another elevator. Get onto this elevator and you should enjoy a smooth ride if you removed the goon from up top earlier. Climb up a few more central towers, taking some crates and removing another thug and police officer on the way up, and grab the Microphone off at the top to end the level and the game. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Donations/Amazon -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [DONT] I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling generous, feel free to send one via PayPal to gammabetaalphafaqs AT gmail DOT com Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the link below.
