Since no one had wrote for this game, I figured that I might as well step up to the plate and take a swing at it. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* T A B L E o f C O N T E N T S *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* ~!~NOTE~!~ If you need to find a certain something in the guide, press and hold Control (Ctrl) and press the F key. It looks like ol' Zoopster is back to write another FAQ/Walkthrough once again, but this time it is more based on the fact that such a great game like Tail 'Gator doesn't even have a friggin' walkthrough for it! What a crime! Tail 'Gator was one of the Game Boy's brightest titles, and one that Capcom fans could truly enjoy just as much as those Konami freaks down the corner. Natsume created one of the best gaming experiences available at the time that could please anyone that enjoyed a side-scroller, and it is still a classic to this day. There is only so much that you can write about in regards to this game, so here is the list of where to find everything: if you're saving money by switching to Geico, you're here in the Introduction. You can find out how to e-mail me at the Contact Me section. The controls and a couple of game basics are found in the Controls/Game Basics section (what a shock!), while the step-by-step details on how to complete the game can be found in the Walkthrough section. The Enemies List will contain all of the enemies in the game, with brief descriptions of them, and the Credits carry all of my Thank Yous. You can find all of the passwords in the Passwords section. Wrapping things up is the Disclaimer, which will tell you not to steal my guide. No more beating around the bush, as we've got a game to play! -David "Zoop" McCutcheon http://guides.ign.com ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: *** *** *** *** SECTION I.a - CONTACT ME *** *** *** *** ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: If you need me for anything whatsoever that IS NOT covered in the guide, and that means SEARCHING THE GUIDE by pressing Control and F together and typing out what you are looking for, and then hitting enter. You can choose to defeat each section of an Area in any order that you wish, but for reference sake, you can easily follow my walkthrough as it tells you which section to go to. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. /\ III.a / \ =======================/ /\ \======================= ======================/ / \ \====================== =====================/ /====\ \rea 1================ ====================/ / \ \==================== ===================/ / \ \=================== \/ \/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 1 / / TOP SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Starting out, jump up to the very top section, and enter through the small hole in the wall. You will wind up in an area with plenty of clouds that Gator can slip through, so watch your step. Immediate take out the Knight with a few tail swipes, and drop down to the cloud below for a couple hits on the second Knight. A Bird will swoop into action from the right; so quickly hit it to knock it away. Bash the treasure chest to find a B Icon, and take out the upcoming Knight on the ground level for some extra protection. Coming up, you will find a few more Knights as the ones behind you respawn. Collect the P Icon in the treasure chest near the top, and grab the Key from inside of the treasure chest on the far right. Quickly take out all of the Knights that lurk amongst the clouds above as you make your way to the newly-opened exit near the upper right-hand corner of the screen. In the second room, you will notice a waterfall-like substance to the right. Burst the treasure chest, kill the closest Knight, and grab the P Icon. Drop down to kill off the Knight and Bird that roam in through here, and grab the second P Icon inside of the treasure chest on the ground. Hit the waterfall-like substance to find out that it is really gusting wind, and break open the treasure chest as you land to reveal the Key to exit. Stand off to the right, a break the Knight's skull open as you climb to the exit. Immediately drop down and break open the treasure chest to the left. Grab the Bomb to watch all of the enemies get blown up instantly, and head to the right. Drop down and head left to find a B Icon, as well as a few others to the right. Kill the Knights as they spawn, and take the Key from the treasure chest near the top. Exit the room after you have the Key securely in your possession. In the next room, quickly take out the two treasure chests to find a B Icon, as well as a P Icon. Take out the Knight near the bottom, and the two Birds. Notice the disappearing blocks in the area to the right, and ignore them. Instead, kill the Knight and break the treasure chest to find a Heart, and climb over to the left to find a Key to exit. Kill the final Bird, and hop over to the exit to clear the stage. Password: 5632 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 1 / / HIGH CENTERED SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Collect the couple of Hearts that are laying out, and go through the highest section available now that the top section has been sealed off. Upon entering, quickly jump up as the Knights cross one another, and take them both out. Drop down a couple of platforms to break open the treasure chest on the left, which contains a Bomb to knock away all of the evil doers, including that Mouse that is coming after you. With the enemies cleared, head right and collect a second Bomb in the lower treasure chest. Now, hop up and break the high treasure chest to collect your Key, and walk through to the next area. Drop down and go to the platform with the treasure chest sitting on it. Bust it to find a P Icon, and beat up the Knight to the right. Quickly head further right, and bust the treasure chest to collect the Bomb before the Mouse reaches you. This will destroy all of the enemies on the screen. Jump up onto the pole to the right, and break the chest to the left that contains a Key. Jump to the platform on the left, and over to the right to reach the exit. Go through the doorway. Drop a few platforms, and descend to the next platform once the Knight heads left, and turn around to destroy him before he touches you. Hit that treasure chest on the left to find a P Icon. This will fill up your meter in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Destroy the Knight to the right, and break the chest down here, as well, to reveal another P Icon, along with a third up above in the treasure chest. The P Meter will allow you to launch unlimited projectiles with every attack. Lovely. Keep heading right, knocking every enemy that you can find into the dirt, and collect the Key to get to the exit. You can destroy the treasure chest that is high above and to the right, if you wish, or you can wait until a later time. Another P Icon rests inside of it, so the choice is yours, but grab it before we depart. Break the crate in the center to find a Bomb to clear the room, and head left for another P Icon in a chest. The Key is on the bottom right-hand corner, inside of a treasure chest. Hop up the clouds to reach the exit. Password: 4718 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 1 / / LOW CENTERED SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Go through the level above the watered area down below after you collect your two Hearts, and you will enter a rocky area with a couple of Rattlesnakes that are patrolling throughout. You should have a little P Power left, so take out the top one, as well as the Mole that comes charging at you, much like the Mice from the previous section of the area. Go through the bottom and bust several treasure chests to find some P Icons, and go through the upper portion while fighting off the Rattlesnakes and the Moles to find the final treasure chest containing the Key to get into the next room. Once you arrive in the next room, bash the high treasure chest from the other side of the rocks, and collect the P Icon. Drop down and bash open the next treasure chest, revealing a P Icon and some solace. Hide from the Moles, and bash the coupling, along with the annoying Rattlesnake. Go through the lower path, and take out the treasure chest down here. Take out the treasure chest on the far right to collect a B Icon, and jump off to the left to deal a few swipes to the treasure chest containing the Key. Take out the Mole, if it respawns, and exit through the doorway. Jump onto the disappearing block below, and over to the next platform. Deal some pain to the Rattlesnake here, and bash the treasure chest open to reveal a Bomb to destroy all of the enemies within range. Jump up and dish out some tail to the next treasure chest to find a P Icon. Backtrack to the bottom, near the volcano, and kill the Rattlesnake, then crack the treasure chest on the right. Climb back up via the disappearing blocks, and head towards the east further. On the floor is a treasure chest containing the Key, but a Rattlesnake guards it. Take care of it, and take the Key. Hop onto the small rock on the left for leverage, and jump over to kill the second Rattlesnake before heading for the exit. Now, it's time for a boss fight with a Giant Frog. Collect the giant P Icon, and begin unleashing your wraith on the Giant Frog. He will line three tiny rocks up, and launch from at you from bottom to top. Jump over the first two while launching your projectiles at him. He will jump clean over your head, and to the opposite side of the room. Watch out for his quick tackle, as it may hit you. Continue to bash away at the menace. By the second time that he jumps to the left, he should be destroyed. Take the Key, and jump over the rocks to the right. Password: 9132 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 1 / / BOTTOM SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- With only one more section to go in the stage, collect your two Hearts, and head for the lowest section available. Ahhh, an underwater stage! In the first room, you will be able to swim by using the directional pad up and down. Take out the Piranha that zig-zags through the water, and bust up the treasure chests to find some P Icons, and then the Key. Go through the doorway after you have your equipment. Swim down, and take out the Piranha and the Rattlesnake near the middle platform, and then quickly destroy the two treasure chests that are on this platform, collecting the P Icons along the way. Drop down to another platform, and take out all of the Rattlesnakes that clutter the area down here. Proceed to bust open all of the treasure chests to find goodies, as well as the Key. Dart for the exit, which is, as always, to the far right. In this next room, you will notice some moderately fast Seahorses. Do not be intimidated, as they will go down in one hit. Eliminate them all, and burst the three nearest treasure chests to find some Bombs and a P Icon. The Bombs will clear the way for you to collect the Key in the fifth treasure chest, and go through the exit doorway on the right. As you enter the fourth area, destroy the first treasure chest to find a B Icon, and quickly destroy the abundance of Seahorses and Piranhas. You can also watch for the Jellyfish that rise from the sea floor. Two hits will do it in. Swim to the bottom and bust the Rattlesnake that is guarding the B Icon inside of the treasure chest. Head over to the right before the enemies respawn, and collect the P Icon inside of the treasure chest here. This should fill your P Meter. Take the B Icon from the highest treasure chest, and drop down to the left to kill the Rattlesnake and take the P Icon inside of the chest. On the other side is the Key inside of the treasure chest, so take it and exit whilst defeating the enemies that surround it. Password: 6291 /\ III.b / \ =======================/ /\ \======================= ======================/ / \ \====================== =====================/ /====\ \rea 2================ ====================/ / \ \==================== ===================/ / \ \=================== \/ \/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 2 / / TOP SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual compared to before, start out on the highest level available. After entering, head straight and break the first treasure chest, and head down a few clouds and to the left to find the second treasure chest. This one contains a Bomb, so watch as it blows away the competition. The treasure chest across from it contains another Bomb to bash those Knights and Birds clean off of the screen. Now, head down and break the treasure chest here to find a B Icon. Head left and crack two treasure chests before reaching the third, which contains the Key. Careful jumping is in order to avoid the annoying Seagull in the area. In the next room, jump repeatedly while slashing your tail at the treasure chest up above, and collect the P Icon after you bust it open. Drop down to the left, and destroy the Knight as he charges towards you, then break the treasure chest that is farthest left. Pop up through the clouds on the right, and dish out some pain on the Mouse before popping the treasure chest to reveal a P Icon. Get in the gust of wind, and jump off to the left several times, bashing the treasure chest until it breaks. Kill the Seagull and the Bird, and hop off of the gust of wind and over to the right to bash the treasure chest here. Use the Bomb, and grab the Key out of the final treasure chest before exiting this room. As you arrive in the next area, drop all the way to the bottom on the left and break the treasure chest to reveal a P Icon. Head right, and pop that middle treasure chest whilst defeating the Birds in the area. Hop towards the top, and attack the chest from the right side, as it's impossible to from the left. Go right and break the treasure chest near the top, and fend off the Mice along the way. Take the Heart in the center, and go right to destroy another treasure chest containing a Bomb. Blow everything up, and take the Key inside of the treasure chest in the corner, then exit. At the start of this room, sink through the cloud below, and kill the Bird and the Seagull along the way. Break the treasure chest down here, and smash the one on the ground before jumping up to attack the left of the two paired together through the vine wall. Afterwards, jump up and smash the chest that rests up here, and go through to the other side to do damage to the right treasure chest. Kill a few Birds, if need be. Jump over to the left to destroy the treasure chest that is high above, and go back to the right to take out the one near the center by heading right and dropping down. Watch out for the Ghost Girl, as you do not want to get trapped. Backtrack, and collect the Key. Go through the doorway to clear the room. Password: 4105 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 2 / / HIGH CENTERED SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Take those two Hearts that you will likely need, and go through the doorway that is directly below the one that you completed last. As you enter, you will notice that the platforms are in stacks. Take out the Raccoon, who enjoys hopping, with two hits of the tail, and then take out the treasure chest that is to the left to reveal a Bomb to eliminate every threat in the immediate area. Proceed to burst every treasure chest above this one, as well as the hidden treasure chest containing a Heart that is in the middle of the stage. Head right, and take out a Mouse along the way. Break the three stacked treasure chests to find a P Icon, a Heart, and the Key. Upon exiting, you will fall onto a cloud. Drop down, and take out any enemies in your view, including the easily defeatable Sharks that charge at you in the water. Take out the Knight, and hit the chest for a P Icon. Climb back up, taking out the majority of enemies that get in your way, and pop the two closest treasure chests that are up high. When near the center, sink down and take out the treasure chest resting at the bottom of the pond. The final treasure chest is on the far right, at the bottom, unguarded. Take the Key, and run in defense. As you reach the next room, drop into the water, and bat the Swan away, along with the Shark. Take out the treasure chest on the left, and climb up the small platforms, eliminating each Treasure Chest before the Raccoon has a chance to reach you. Jump into the water again, but head right this time around. Watch out for the pellets from the Sunflower, and take it out with your tail from beyond the wall. Just below it is another treasure chest, so it's for the taking. On the far right side is a mirror replica of the treasure chests that were on the left, so break and collect as fast as possible, and dart for that exit. Password: 0619 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 2 / / LOW CENTERED SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Collect your couple of Hearts, and go through the highest doorway possible. You will end up in another cavern with Moles and Rattlesnakes to bother you further. Along the ground, attack the Rattlesnake, and take out the treasure chest. To the slight left is one suspended that you must climb platforms to reach. Destroy it, and take care of two Moles before hitting the one on the far left wall. Take it out, and glide over towards the right a bit further, taking out the treasure chest that is along the top of the ceiling. Hit the chest to the right, near the exit, and the one "underground" afterwards to find your Key. There's a possibility that you'll get lucky and snag a Bomb in the process. Go through the doorway to go into the second room. Defeat the Rattlesnake, and run along the platforms above. Knock away at the two closest treasure chests, and note the hidden chest above the second closest one. Go left, and you will find a Seal that wants to play, so kick the crap out of it. One hit will do! Kill the Seahorse, and break the treasure chest back here. Go back out, and go down. To the left are two more treasure chests, so pick through them, and head along to your right. Defeat any enemies that may respawn, and break the final treasure chest on the right. Collect the Key, and climb the ridged platforms to reach the doorway. Once on the other side, jump over and defeat the Rattlesnake. If you jump too high when attacking the treasure chest on this platform, a spike will hit you. Try to adjust yourself to where your head is hitting the top of the cavern into of the spikes overhead. Head left, and destroy the two nearest treasure chests, and take out the Jellyfish along the way. Break the two treasure chests on the left, and collect the Heart without hitting the spikes. This is fairly simple, considering the fact that you're swimming. Carefully jump off of the ledge to the left to reach the treasure chest containing the Key, and don't forget the hidden treasure chest in the waterfall. Now exit this area. In the fourth room, you will drop down, so pop the chest open, and kill the Rattlesnake. There will be Bats that launch rocks at you towards the right, so watch out. Kill them whenever you get the chance, and drop into the water to deal with the Seals that float about. Take out the treasure chest down here, and destroy the Jellyfish at the end. Float up to the top, and blow the treasure chest away up here. Carry on, and clear out the rest of the treasure chests that lie up here before heading down a waterfall to defeat the Bats and take the goods inside of the treasure chests. Head through the doorway after you're through with this room. Password: 9626 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 2 / / BOTTOM SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Grab your two Hearts, and head through the lowest door possible. By now, it should be the only door possible. Deal pain to the Rattlesnake, and watch your back for a stray enemy. Take out the treasure chest directly in front of you, and get that treasure chest that is high above and to the left. Take out any one-hit-death enemies as you destroy the treasure chests along the zig-zag path on the way up. The final treasure chest is in the lower right-hand corner of the room. Collect the Key, and go through. In this room, you must watch out, as spikes corrupt the flooring of the place. You must kill the Jellyfish one by one as you go along, and crack the treasure chests through the seaweed walls. You will likely have to ditch a few Icons that come out of the treasure chests, if you're bad at retrieving the items amongst the spiked flooring. Just be sure to hit the very last treasure chest exactly that: last. That way you can easily grab the Key without it sinking to the bottom of the pit. Go through the doorway. In the third area, go straight and take out the Piranha that swims your way, as well as the treasure chest that is directly in front of you. Swim down and to the left, bashing any one-hit-death enemies along the way, and crack the three chests in a row. Hopefully, a Bomb will be amongst them. After all is clear, head down and left to break the treasure chest over here, and the second one down here before heading back up to travel over to the right. There will be two treasure chests along the middle path, so break them and head under the cove to find the final one. Take each swipe individually, so you do not hit the spikes on the bottom, and collect the Key. There's a secret treasure chest near the final platform to the door in this room. Now, go through the doorway. Ahh, another boss battle! This time, it's against a Giant Goldfish. First and foremost, collect your giant P Icon to get prepared for the fight. He will spit out a bubble that will split into three rock objects within a few seconds, so get underneath the bubble, or over it, all while shooting him with your projectiles. You can easily defeat the Giant Goldfish before it can move to the other side of the screen by simply wailing into it with your projectiles, over and over again. Thank goodness for a pattern. Password: 4350 /\ III.c / \ =======================/ /\ \======================= ======================/ / \ \====================== =====================/ /====\ \rea 3================ ====================/ / \ \==================== ===================/ / \ \=================== \/ \/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 3 / / TOP SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As you start off, jump up to the very top and enter the doorway, and take out all of the immediate enemies along the top. Break open every single one of the treasure chests along the top, and drop down below to expand the playing area. Now, it's time to knock those middle chests out, so patrol the center and take each one of them out. Remember to grab the goodies before they fall, as they're nearly impossible to reach after they're on a cloud's surface. Take out those Seagulls and Ghost Girls as you carry on towards the bottom. There's a hidden chest underneath the chest with the gap below it near the bottom. Take both out, and pop the one beyond the vine wall to the right. Get rid of the treasure chest to the far left, and head towards the right after popping up from the lower point to break open the chest with the Key inside. Manipulate the wind gusts by moving to the far left, and reaching the higher platforms. Watch out for the Knights and the flying enemies along the way to the exit, but watch out for falling through the clouds along the way. In the second large area, a Sunflower will be to your immediate right as you begin to fall through the closed area. Hit the treasure chest once as you descend, and climb the disappearing platform to reach the cloud on the right. Jump and attack the treasure chest in mid-air to the right. From here, take out the Bird and the Seagull, and jump to the left at the right time. Pop the treasure chest while standing on the disappearing block, followed by jumping over to the right while attacking to find a hidden chest. Hop back on the cloud, and jump to the far left. Climb up, and take out the treasure chest. Up higher is a second one that you can reach from the disappearing block. Jump right afterwards, and fall down a ways to reach the next treasure chest. Jump over to the right once again to find another chest. Now, backtrack towards the top, and kill the Birds as you make your way towards the right. Break the two treasure chests near the door while ignoring the one near the Sunflower, and backtrack to that very one to collect the Key. Go through the door afterwards. Move forward and drop down after you've taken out the Seagull and the Bird, and turn around quickly to remove the chest. Hop up the clouds, and kill the Raccoon. Drop back down one level and head into the small enclave to take out the chest through the vines, and head left to reach the next treasure chest. There are four stacked treasure chests in the center of the room, which you can reach the higher ones by heading into the wind gusts. Just make sure that all of the enemies are dead before doing this. Head right and take out the lower treasure chest, and head on ground level to grab the Heart. Clear the enemies, and take the Key in the treasure chest above this one to clear the room. To reach the exit, jump in the gust and ride it to the clouds. Uh oh, it's boss time! Giant Bird is the next boss on our list, and this one is an annoyance compared to that last one, mostly due to the fact that our health will likely be low. Start out by grabbing the giant P Icon. The first attack that the Giant Bird will use will be a simple rock-spitting routine that can be dodged by standing on the highest clouds, so as the rocks line up in the back of the Giant Bird, while it's invincible, climb to the top. Begin wailing into the Giant Bird with these attacks, and drop down a cloud as the Giant Bird slowly moves towards the bottom of the screen, and back towards the top as the Giant Bird makes it's way up. It's easiest to stay near the middle for most, however, and simply jump over the rocks that get spit out. Just keep your distance, that way you can anticipate the attacks. The Giant Bird will swoop near the center of the room after it makes its way up and down. Immediately after this attack, get ready for a sonic wave in the center of the screen. The key to winning this battle is to keep your distance, and close in when striking only. Head for the exit afterwards. Password: 9564 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 3 / / HIGH CENTERED SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Collect the couple of much needed Hearts, and go through the highest doorway available. Now, drop down and take out the treasure chest on the left, and drop further to destroy the second and third treasure chest that you find immediately at the start of the room. Jump up and take out the Seagull, the Bird, and the treasure chest through the wall. Climb to the top and break the treasure chest, and fall down to the right to find another by your left side. Take out the chest to the right, beyond the wall, and kill the Sunflower below you before tackling the treasure chest down here. There's another below it. The rest are in plan sight to the far right with no kinks to figure out. Backtrack to the top, knock the chest here, grab your Key, and go through the doorway. At the start of the second room, sink through the clouds and take out the treasure chest to the right. Now, head far right and take out the chest that is opposite of the one that you just destroyed. Sink into the clouds, and take out the treasure chest that would've been in-between the ones that you just destroyed. Sink another level, and take out both treasure chests on the sides. Yet another level we go, so destroy the treasure chest in the center of the room. Now, hop up and go right. Jump into the "pit" that is walled-in, and destroy the two treasure chests through the walls. Sink through to the water, and break through the chest that's on the left. Destroy the one in the center on the seafloor after you go through the next treasure chest to the left. You can find a way to reach it on the left. Now, pop back up through the platforms in the center, and go left this time to break the two treasure chests. Sink through the cloud, grab your Key, and run towards the exit, killing any enemy that gets in your way. Wait for the disappearing block to appear, and jump attack the treasure chest on the right. Do the same to the one on the left that is below you. Take out the Mouse, and drop down to destroy the treasure chest on the left. Drop a few platforms, and take out the treasure chest in the center. Drop a few more platforms, and take out the treasure chest on the left after destroying the Swan. Head right, underwater, and take out the Shark as you reach the treasure chest on the right that is underwater. Hop out of the water, and destroy all three of the treasure chests that remain in the area. Head up, towards the center of the stacked platforms, and dish out some pain to the treasure chest here. Take care of the Sunflower, and jump up to bash the treasure chest in the center. Hop over to the tiny cloud on the right and destroy the treasure chest through the wall. Drop down, and head right, up the clouds, and pound the final treasure chest before entering the boss chamber. Yep, another boss, and this one is rowdy. Grab the Giant P Icon, and get ready to battle with the Giant Beaver. Ho ho! Insert a sexual innuendo THERE, Bill O'Reilly. The Giant Beaver will chase you, and spit out three sets of four spikes. You should have a few Hearts left, so this fight shouldn't be too harsh. Bash the Giant Beaver with your projectiles, and position yourself to where the spikes will land next to you rather than on top of you. To dodge the Giant Beaver itself, just jump to a cloud and back down to the left very quickly. This battle will be over before it really even begins. Grab your Key, and exit. Password: 1106 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 3 / / LOW CENTERED SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As always, collect your two Hearts, and go through the highest doorway available. We are back in the cavern area, so take out the treasure chest through the rocks as soon as you enter. Jump up and take out the treasure chest at the end of the line, followed by a second inside on a depression in the wall. Drop down, and kill the Rattlesnake that lies on this platform. Keep traveling to the left, and drop down again after timing the Bat's movements. Fall into the water, kill the Rattlesnake, and take care of the treasure chest on the right. Be prepared to battle a Mole afterwards. Sneak up and take out the two Bats as you bash the treasure chests along the way. With a mere two chests left, take out the bottom one through the rocks, and drop down to fight the mean ol' Rattlesnake down here before deciding to jump up the tiny rocks. To do this, jump and swerve to the outer right edge, and up to the next rock. Just watch out for the volcano along the way. Take out the treasure chest at the top, take the Key, and exit the area. In the second room, drop down a level and take out the Bird and the treasure chest. Jump over the rocks coming from the Bat, and defeat him as he pops up. Take out the chest to the right of where the Bat was, and take out the final treasure chest on this line, on the far right. Now, sink into the sand/water/whatever it is, and head right to drop down below. Make small jumps across the tiny rocks to avoid hitting your head on the spikes that are aligned amongst the ceiling of the platform above. Destroy the three treasure chests amongst these tiny rocks, and drop another level. Take out the Bat down here, along with any Rattlesnake that gets in your way. Destroy the treasure chest on the far right, and walk to the far left to jump on top of the volcano. Quickly jump up the platforms until you reach the top. Carefully jump over the small wall that blocks you here, and destroy the treasure chest that you see first. Jump over the spikes, and take out the Seals that you find along the way. Destroy the final treasure chest, and take the Key. Sink through to the bottom floor, and backtrack up along the left. Jump early to reach each disappearing platform until you reach the exit. Drop as far down as possible, and take out the Seal in the water, followed by the Seahorse that lurks below. Take out the Treasure Chest here, and watch out for the volcano as you go right to nab the Heart. Exit the enclave, and take out the Mole that lurks down here. Take out the treasure chest in mid-air, and believe it or not, you can jump over the spiked gap by mashing the button down and going for it. There's a hidden treasure chest on the end of the right. Take out the Mole as it comes from above, and climb the disappearing platforms. To the left is a treasure chest that can be broken with your tail. Do so, and continue to ascend the disappearing platforms. Quickly take out the treasure chest on the left before your flooring disappears, and repeat the steps with the treasure chest on the left. Jump over the next treasure chest on the left, and wait until the bottom disappearing block appears until you land to destroy said treasure chest. Jump back over to right, and drop down to destroy the treasure chest down here. Afterwards, backtrack back towards the top. Just up the disappearing blocks, and take out the two nearest treasure chests from left to right. Kill the Mole before carrying on towards the right, and quickly destroy the treasure chest to reveal the exit Key, and dodge the spit from the Bat that rests to the right. Destroy it extremely fast, and dart for the exit. In the next room, destroy the treasure chest quickly, and jump over the spit of the jumping Bat as carefully as possible. Destroy the Bat without falling down, and cross over the gap to find another chest to the right. Destroy it, and drop down to quickly disassemble the lives of a Mole and a Mouse before busting up the treasure chest next to you. Head towards the left and bust both of the reachable treasure chests up, and head back to the right to take out the treasure chest here along with the hidden chest in the same region before going over the hump in the platforms. Take out the treasure chest above the volcano from the safe platform, and jump down. In the water, swish towards the left to reach the last treasure chest containing the Key. Collect it, and backtrack to the exit. Password: 1897 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 3 / / BOTTOM SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- With only one more area to go, hit it after collecting your well- deserved Hearts. Once inside, swim forward and dodge the Bat's spew, and break the treasure chest. Swim up and to the left to find another treasure chest, and back down slightly, curved off to the right for a fast couple of treasures chests. With four chests down already, backtrack to the beginning and sink down a bit while fending off the Seahorses. Take out the two closest treasure chests near the bottom, and kill the Bat for good measure. Sink down slightly, and slip through the small path to reach a new area, and bust up the first couple of treasure chests that you spot. Easy chest stages rock! The rest of the treasure chests are in this exact spot, and all are easily reachable, not to mention the fact that simple Seahorses only guard them. Take the Key from the last treasure chest, and backtrack through the tunnel. Go through the exit doorway to reach the second room. Once you arrive in the second room, drop slightly and take out the treasure chest to the left. Take out the Piranha, and sink down. Destroy the treasure chest near the bottom, and head left through the bottom while taking out any enemies that get in your way. Dip down once again and follow the path to the right near the bottom, destroying every treasure chest that you come across. Head up, and through to the left, killing a Jellyfish along the way. Once again, go down and destroy the two treasure chests down here. Backtrack to where you first descended amongst the depths of the ocean, and head right this time. Now, kill the Jellyfish, and go up through the first area to find a couple of treasure chests, and some well-placed enemies. Backtrack and go through the second top opening to find one more treasure chest. Now, hit the downlow and hit the chest, and notice a second chest that is on the seafloor. Go through the area to the left, and head down to find it, and the Key. Now creep to the exit. Keep going forward in the new room, and take out the treasure chest along the top, and go through the hole to the left to reach a new area with plenty of easy to reach treasure chests. Three are to the left, and go through the hole along the bottom of the area, killing enemies as you carry on. Destroy all of the treasure chests that you find along the way. Now, take out the two treasure chests along the right wall, and backtrack to the left to reach the hole to access the final treasure chest through the middle. Take the Key, and go through the exit doorway. Fall onto the top of the treasure chest, and whip your tail to the right to find a hidden treasure chest. Take out the Bird as it comes towards you. Jump up to the platform on the right and take out the treasure chest to the left. Drop down and hit the Mage twice to send him flying before he uses his wand to create a skull to hit you. Take out the two treasure chests in the immediate area, and jump over to the right to destroy the treasure chests over here before dropping to take out the persistent Advanced Knight. Jump up the platforms to reach the suspended treasure chest, and drop down to take out the lone treasure chest on this platform. Drop off to the right and clear all of the abundance of treasure chests down here, along with clearing the "basement" screen of those pesky Ninjas that jump all around as you try to navigate through. After you have the Key, jump up the platforms on the right side of the screen to reach the exit doorway. As you drop from the doorway, use your tail to whip the treasure chests along the way down. Quickly rush onto the third platform and destroy the treasure chest at the end. Hang off the side and tail whip the treasure chest over here before jumping into it. Kill off the Advanced Knight, and jump off of the side, and turn left to hit the treasure chest. Fall back into the cove that you were in, and repeat these steps with both chests until they have been destroyed, and you're on the top right platform. Head over to the far upper-left platform, and take out the treasure chest here. Head over to the right side of this left platform, and drop off and onto the platform directly below it. Destroy the Advanced Knight, and the treasure chest. Drop into the center of the water, and destroy both bottom treasure chests, followed by the Ninjas that patrol down here. You can take out the two upper chests by jumping onto the rocks, and to the tabletop platforms that extend to the chests themselves. Break the treasure chests, and grab the Key. Jump up to the exit doorway, and go through. Drop into the water, and destroy the two treasure chests immediately. Take out the Mermaid with a couple of swigs of the tail, and carry on through the underwater region. Destroy the treasure chests in order to reach a platform to jump up from. Take out those Advanced Knights and the Mages on this platform as you head left, taking out every treasure chest that you come across. Destroy the top treasure chest through the wall first, before you destroy the one on the bottom, that way you can reach the Key easier. Head through the doorway after you've obtained it. As we enter the next area, notice the Sunflowers below you. Jump down to the list after they spit, and turn around to eliminate the treasure chest here to provide a platform for you to stand on. From here, take out the treasure chest to the upper right, which will hopefully have a Bomb inside. Drop down to the ground and destroy the two treasure chests here. Go right on the very bottom, and destroy the treasure chest in front of you. Hop up and take out the last treasure chests and take the Key. Climb up to the doorway, and walk in. Password: 8093 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- \ / \ AREA 4 / / SECOND SECTION \ / \ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As you walk in, dart through the top section and eliminate a couple of Birds as you hit the three treasure chests along the way. Drop off to the right and hit the hidden treasure chest in the water, on the platform. Now, kill the Ninja and take out the treasure chest here, as well. Take out each treasure chest as you go along to the left, and climb up on the small platform to destroy the treasure chest to the left. Knock away the last remaining treasure chests on the left side, and hop onto the disappearing block to go to the right side and fall in to destroy the treasure chest here before exiting as you grab the Key. Walk forward and fall down, but hook a sharp left to enter the area here, and destroy the treasure chest lying here. Go up, and take out the Advanced Knight. Jump across to the treasure chest in mid-air to destroy it, and drop down to kill the Mage before taking out the treasure chest on the left. Destroy the treasure chest here, and drop into the water to the right. Destroy the treasure chest on the left, and inside of the enclave to the right. Head towards the west, and beat up the treasure chest in the bottom left-hand corner. There's a disappearing block nearby to use for leverage as you begin to collect the Key from one of the treasure chests on the left, on dry surface. You can find your way back up by making awkward jumps via disappearing platforms. Hold a tight right, and fall into a hole that leads to a treasure chest across a gap. Perform a jump that leads around the outside and hug left to reach a higher platform with a treasure chest atop of it. Destroy the chest, and drop back down. Go further left to find two treasure chests to destroy, and pull off another outside jump to land on the platform to the left. Jump into the small opening on the right, and jump off of the edge of it, leading left. If done correctly, you will land on top of the platform will ease, and with direct access to the rest of the treasure chests up here. Drop off to the left, and go all the way down. Destroy the Ninjas, the Mage, and the Bird once you reach the bottom. Destroy the treasure chest here, and head left. You can find two treasure chests on the left, and two on the right. Once you have the Key, climb up to where the rock ledges are to the right, and jump onto the platform on the left, but watch out for that lousy Mage. Jump off here, and you will reach the rock ledge. You must perform one last outside jump to reach the top rock, and the boss entrance. Yep, it's a boss fight! This time, you will face the mentor of the evil: the Giant Dragon! Ooh, spooky! Starting out, grab your Giant P Icon AFTER THE GIANT DRAGON HAS STOPPED FLASHING, and the lone Heart container. The Giant Dragon isn't too hard, as he will launch out giant fireballs that burst into debris. The debris is the key factor in the battle, as it will do damage to you. Just remember to shoot your projectiles at him constantly, stopping only to jump over the fireballs or the debris that the fireballs produce. Try to stay in the center platform, and remember, if the fireball is centered, you must jump afterwards. If it's slightly tilted down, stay in place and keep firing. The hardest part of the battle is noticing the fireballs, as sometimes they get glitched out. After the final blow to the dastardly Giant Dragon, you will have completed this rigorous game! Congratulations! Now, can anybody tell me why in the hell an alligator was fighting mermaids, mages, and knights in the first place? ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: ::: ::: ::: ::: SECTION IV. - ENEMIES LIST ::: ::: ::: ::: ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: Here, you can find a list of the enemies in the game, listed from A to Z. Enjoy. ADVANCED KNIGHT --------------- A ground patrol guard that lurks in Area 4. He cannot do much of anything besides be stubborn with his armor, so send him for a loop with a few tail whacks. BAT --- The Bats can become an annoyance as you progress throughout the game, as they will quickly launch several rocks at you. You must be careful of their placement in the room when battling them. BIRD ---- The Birds will swoop down into action in an attempt to hit you. One swipe of the tail will do them in. GHOST GIRL ---------- The Ghost Girls appear in the second area of the game, and can be very deadly in small corridors. Watch your back when dealing with these demons. JELLYFISH --------- Along with the Seahorses, Jellyfish can be found as they rise from the sea floor. They are very slow, and can easily be avoided. You can kill them with two hits. KNIGHT ------ The Knights resemble the Meta-Knights from the Kirby series, and have basic short-ranged attacks. You can kill them with two hits. MAGE ---- These guys are pesky, and appear in Area 4. They will use their wands to create stones to throw at you. MERMAID ------- Much like all of the other fictitious characters in the game, the Mermaid appears in Area 4, and can be killed with a couple of hits. Think of an underwater Seagull, and you have the Mermaid. MOLE ---- The Moles will come charging at you without much fail, so watch your step. You can defeat them within two hits. MOUSE ----- The Mice in the game look extremely funny, and they are quite persistent when it comes to chasing you around. Give them a couple of whacks to make them leave you alone for once. NINJA ----- They are the fastest of the ground patrolling troops, and they are also a pain in the rear end due to their pesky jumps. PIRANHA ------- The Piranhas will swim in a zig-zag fashion, but can easily be killed with a single swipe of the tail. RACCOON ------- These Raccoons mean serious business! You can stomp their hoppiness out by hitting them twice with your tail. RATTLESNAKE ----------- The Rattlesnakes patrol the ground in typical fashion, and only have extremely short-ranged attacks. Defeat them with two swipes of your gator tail. SEAGULL ------- The Seagulls, found in Area 2, are slow non-swoopers in comparison to their Bird counterparts, and they're also a bit tougher to kill. SEAHORSE -------- The Seahorses are quite slow in speed, but persistent in comparison to the Piranhas. A single hit will also eliminate them. SEAL ---- These little fellas will swim along the stretches of the ocean, and can be killed with one hit. SHARK ----- The Sharks can easily be stopped with a mere swig of the tail. They act as Piranhas, for the most part. SUNFLOWER --------- The Sunflowers are tricky enemies, as they will shoot seeds at you. Be very wary of your current placement on the screen when Sunflowers are in the area. SWAN ---- Yes, it's the deadly Swans of doom! These "creatures" lurk around the surfaces of ponds, and they want you DEAD! One hit will kill them... Hey, they're friggin' swans. Did you expect something terrifying? Just watch out for their charges, as they can catch you off-guard. ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: ::: ::: ::: ::: SECTION V. - PASSWORDS ::: ::: ::: ::: ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: Looking to skip to that certain area in the game? He's a great guy with a great website. Thanks to Stephen Ng for appreciating my work, and for posting it even when I'm annoying and submit through e-mail instead of the website function over at faqs.ign.com. Thanks guys, you both rock my bedroom. Thanks to Natsume for making such an awesome game. Seriously, if you have a Game Boy, and you do not have this game, you deserve a kick right where the sun don't shine. This is a classic side-scroller that deserves some serious attention. Thanks to my loving girlfriend, Valerie, for putting up with my constant writing. I never stop, and she still supports me. What a great gal... probably because I stop to watch soap operas with her. Woo for Days Of Our Lives! Thanks to my pals, Snow Dragon, Devin Morgan, Andrew Schultz, Brian Sulpher, Kain Stryder, Colin Moriarty, Chad Steele, Tom Hayes, Gobicamel, ZeroSHIFT/Masamune3, Reverend Vegita, Jennifer Langston, Jess Hawkins, Melissa Norton, and everybody that reads my LiveJournal, which can be found under the username "zoopsoul". Thanks to Collective Soul for supplying me with a lovely soundtrack to my guide writing. And lastly, thanks to you, ya big freak. You actually read this thing for an ancient game that practically nobody knows. You deserve a hug, so go tell your parents that you're special. ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: ::: ::: ::: ::: SECTION VII. - DISCLAIMER ::: ::: ::: ::: ::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---::---:: This document is Copyright 2003-2004 David McCutcheon.
