Content: I - Introduction II - Game modes and rules III - Trick Game Solutions IV - Challenges V - Super & Zone VI - FAQs I - Introduction _________________ Side pocket for SNES is an enhanced adaptation of the original Arcade game with the same name. It was developed by Iguana and released in 1993 by data East. This version consists of four game modes and Jukebox. II - Game modes and rules _________________ 1P Pocket Game: History mode itself. Go across USA, reach the necessary points and beat the challenges shots to be awarded as "pool king". You need to reach the minimum score and pass the following stages: Los Angeles - 3000 points - Star: yes. Zone: yes. Super: enabled for 9 and 10 balls tables. Challenge: no. Las Vegas - 4000 points - Star: yes. Zone: yes. Super: enabled for 9 and 10 balls tables. Challenge: yes. San Francisco - 5000 points Zone: Star: yes. yes. Super: enabled for 9 and 10 balls tables. Challenge: yes. New York - 6000 points - Star: yes. Zone: no. Super: no. Challenge: yes. Atlantic City - 7000 points - Star: yes. Zone: no. Super: no. Challenge: yes. You start the game with 16 tries signed on the top of screen. If you not drop any ball, you lost one try,if you drop your own ball (white ball) you lost one try too. If you drop your ball in the zone hole, You not loss the try and even can be rewarded if you have just one remaining try. If you drop your ball after hit the super ball you lost one try only. Drop one table ball in the zone hole make it works like star hole (it even can give you one "trick" bonus who's worth nothing) Consecutive score: If you drop your balls without miss one shot, you'll be awarded with extra points if you clear the table. You can also, drop your balls by ascending numeric values (1,2,3...) The score system for consecutive drops are the same like below: 600 point extra for any consecutive hits: 2 ball sequence +600 3 ball sequence +1200 4 ball sequence +1800 5 ball sequence +2400 6 ball sequence +3000 7 ball sequence +3600 8 ball sequence +4200 9 ball sequence +4800 Complete table for numeric or sequential hits award even more points: 6 ball table +5500 9 ball table +5800 10 ball table +5900 Tips: Try to drop your all balls in numeric order to achieve table points reward, it's easier than drop all balls in sequence. Drop your White ball in the hole marked as Zone to have more chances to get bonus points/tries. Every first star hole dropped is a "Trick" (0 points) but subsequent stars gives good bonus points or ups (tries). 2P Pocket Game: A five set match against your friend by the rules of pocket game (a.k.a. score more points) 2P 9-Ball Game: You can choose between 3,7 or 15 set matches to compete against player two, by the rules of 9-ball a.k.a. hit the lower ball on the table, until you can drop the ball 9. Ball 9 can be dropped indirectly. Miss a shot or hit other than lowest ball throw one foul, making your opponent choose the ball position before his/her shoot. All pocket rules exists in nine-ball game, but the win is only achieved by "pocket" the ball 9. Trick Game: Challenge yourself through 19 challenges for... Well... See one girl and impress your friends !!! Jukebox: The (good) soundtrack of the game. note: it doesn't have sfx, just songs. II - Game controls __________________ B - Start gauge meter, pressed again throw the shoot. Y - press: Change view between colors and numeric. hold: While holding B button, you can move the area of the ball which your cue will hit. By that logic, to access the top area of the ball you need to hold the Y button and tap the up button 5 times. A - Cancel the shot if gauge is started. ARROWS (directional buttons) - Moves the aim to that direction continuously until reach their "cardinal" limit. Moving to opposite directions will make the aim move in clockwise for that direction. L - Tap aim direction counter-clockwise. R - Tap aim direction clockwise. Note: SNES version don't have the "circular aim" like Genesis version. To help this tutorial I made an ugly representation of the ball as shown below: Ball Legend: Face: - - - FOLLOW - - - - - FOLLOW - - - - - - - FOLLOW - - - o - - - LEFT - CENTER - RIGHT - - - - - - - DRAW - - - - - DRAW - - - DRAW Top-view: - MASSE3 - - - MASSE2 - o - MASSE1 Legend: o - Initial position / Final position - - Possible directions Also, to help the orientation, I'm considering only shoulder buttons and taps to that directions: [number]R = Taps to right/clockwise [number]L = Taps to left/counter-clockwise Straight = no taps required We can also consider press one directional button until it stay fixed in your "cardinal position" as shown below: Legend: AU = All Up (a straight line in up direction) AD = All Down (a straight line in down direction) AL = All Left (a straight line in left direction) AR = All Right (a straight line in right direction) So 3R means 3 taps in right shoulder button and AU means hold up button until the aim stop to move. Diagonals will be ignored for sanity reasons. III - Trick Game Solutions __________________________ The order of the solutions is consider the occidental reading direction: left to right, and up to down directions. The text line will hint the directional taps and the intensity of shoot. Tip: For the SNES version, max power (strongest coin power) does not help like Genesis version. Instead, it causes an excessive force and cause an error (aka Adiós glasses...). Every square will represent one number as shown below: 1. AR - 4th coin meter Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Different from Genesis version, but easier in my opinion. 2. AU + 30R - 4th coin meter Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's harder because using max power not work. I only hit right when the coin turns darker on 4th section of power meter. 3. AL + 9R - max power Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Max power is required in that trick. 4. 8R - 4th coin meter Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - The trick is use the DRAW effect on the bottom of the ball !!! 5. Straight - 4th coin meter Top o - - - - - - This trick can't be performed below the 3rd "coin meter". See game controls, to learn how to use MASSE3 effect. 6. AL - max power/4th "coin meter" Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This trick is important to advance level and earn extra balls in the pocket game. 7. 4L - max power/4th "coin meter" Top - - - - o - - Remember, 4L means four taps on L shoulder button. This trick can be messy if you miss the MASSE effect. 8. 14L - 4th "coin meter" Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - The hardest challenge in my opinion. Try to put coin next to max power, but before it. 9. 1L - max power Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - There we go ! 10. Straight - max power/4th "coin meter" Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - Not at bottom edge of the ball, but one mark above. Used to give extra balls on pocket game. 11. 1L - max power/4th "coin meter" Face - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ball one gives me anxiety, but the trick works !!! 12. 6R - max power/4th "coin meter" Top - - - - - o - This trick can be hard to perform sometimes. AD - 4th coin meter Face - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - An impressive effect in my humble opinion.. 15. 3L - max power Top o - - - - - - I remember trying desperately use MASSE1 effect in this trick... But now I know the truth !!! Max power is required. Try to press the hit button before the coin reach the gauge limit. 16. 8R - max power Top - - - - o - - A beautiful effect, but maximum power is required. 17. 3L - 4th coin meter. Face - - - - - - - - o - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The only reason I make that "ball map" above, I hope it's being helpful. 18. 4R - max power Face - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o - - - - - This trick is just...
