In the game, you must walk around 32 small single-screen areas, collecting items from destroyable environmental obstacles, find bonus rooms for extra points and lives, and kill enemies to open the 'Exit Door' to the next stage. Most foes can be killed with your punches. Some, however, can only be slain by jumping on them, or utilising a Sword that you pick up in World 3. Occasionally, you can also find Shurikens or Boomerangs that last for less than a minute, but can help you blow through multiple enemies. There are also power- ups that increase the strength of your Punches. When you kill a specific number of enemies or collect a specific number of points (the author does not know which), the Exit Door at the northern end of each stage will open. You can tell if you are not within view of the door by the frenzied pace each enemy takes on, significantly increasing in speed. Once you get to the Exit Door, you can head to the next area. -------- CONTROLS -------- D-Pad - Move Around Start - Pause the Game A - Punch B - Jump + D-Pad - Miracle Kick (you must jump FIRST, not at the same time) A + B + Down - Change between Punch and Sword -------------- MENU INTERFACE -------------- At the bottom of your screen, you will have a menu bar. The menu bar is crudely redrawn here, with what each value is explained to the right of the menu bar. ____________________________ |JACK 01 W 1-1 K 01 M 0 | # Lives, World #, # Miracle Kicks, #Money |01234567 E 0 F 0 | Score, # E power-ups, # Punch power-ups |Icons | What items you currently own ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ------------- MIRACLE KICKS ------------- If you stop, and then jump, you can select a direction with the D-Pad and your character jumps that direction while still in mid-air, deliving a kick known as the Miracle Kick. It is rather difficult to actually kill enemies with Miracle Kicks, and generally only those killable by punches are killable by Miracle Kicks. However, where the Miracle Kick does excel is in moving you back and forth and jumping long distances past tricky enemies, especially the big boss- like foes who you do not have to specifically kill. Miracle Kicks cannot be performed indefinitely - there is a counter for how many times you can use them. Power-ups can be found in most stages to increase this counter by 10. ----------- BONUS ROOMS ----------- In most but not all levels, a Bonus room can be found by striking a specific block, bush, barrel, etc. or occasionally punching over a certain square. In the bonus room, you can punch heart-shaped items for 1000 points each, and these sometimes rarely give 1-Ups as well. Occasionally, Circle-E power-ups will also appear. If you punch 5 of these within a single Bonus Room before the timer runs out, you can also get a 1-Up from this. ---------- WARP ROOMS ---------- In a handful of levels, you will find Warp Rooms. Some of them warp ahead to the first stage of a couple of later worlds. Others allow you to return to any specific stage in the World you are currently in. The Warp Room in 8-3 lets you go to any room from 1-1 back to 8-3. -------- PICK-UPS -------- When you punch at an object, you may sometimes get an item drop. Punching an object will not necessarily break it (like a rock or a bush), resulting in one item drop to start when you punch it the first, and then a second item drop when you actually break that object. If what comes out is a Circle with a ? mark in it, punch it again to get either a Money Bag or an X-bag which zeros out all your money. Unknown function for what the Money Bag actually does - in Kung-Fu Hero, collecting 5 of them at a time creates a Circle-E item on the field, but that is not the case in Ninja Boy. '1-Up' - Gives you an extra Life 'E' - Collect 5 of these for an extra Life '2' - Gives you a three-way shuriken that fires in the direction you are facing and at 45 degree angles to the centre shuriken. This is a temporary weapon. '4' - Gives you a shuriken that rotates all around your character and flies off in multiple directions, making it a very powerful weapon. This is a temporary weapon. Boomerang - Gives you a boomerang. If you hit an enemy, you get a new one. Otherwise, the boomerang you throw out returns to you. This is a temporary weapon. Sword - Allows you to use the sword in lieu of Punches. Press Down + A + B all at the same time to switch between Punches and the Sword Floating Shoes - Allow you to walk over water and holes. They disappear when you die once. Spike Shows - Apparently allows you to walk over spikes. The author does not recall seeing any spikes anywhere, except for Cactus and spike enemies. They disappear when you die once. High-Speed Shoes - Boost your movement speed. They disappear when you die once There are multiple other items that the author does not know the function of, such as the stars or scrolls. If you know what they do, feel free to drop the author an email using the email address listed at the bottom of this guide. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Walkthrough -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [WALK] To get to a specific level number, use CTRL + F to activate your search function and enter in [Wx-x], where the first x is the world number, and the second x is for the part of that world you are currently on. Each level may have some general notes on that specific level in terms of enemies, environment, and so on. The enemies that are on that stage, the points they give off, and what weapons they can be injured and killed with are listed, along with the location of a Bonus room or Warp room (if present) and which bushes, blocks or barrels contain Special items. Enemy names are the author's own which he made up. If you have a manual or other official source with actual names for the enemies, feel free to send them to the email at the bottom of this guide. Special Items towards the later levels are not entirely comprehensive. This is because multiple special items such as the Sword or types of shoes are found in many levels, but if you picked it up early, you will not find a second copy. Therefore, later levels may be missing some of this information. Again, if you find a spot not listed in this guide, feel free to send such informatoin to the email listed at the bottom of this guide. --------- WORLD 1-1 --------- [W1-1] Enemies ------- Horned, Spiky-Haired (500 points) - Punches, Shurikens BONUS Room ---------- Upper left corner, underneath the bush south of upper-leftmost bush Special Items ------------- 1-Up - Bush to the right of the exit door Shurikens - Middle-right side, bush between the two ponds --------- WORLD 1-2 --------- [W1-2] Enemies ------- Horned, Spiky-Haired (500 points) - Punches, Shurikens Fat, Robed Guys (1000 points) - Punches (2 hits), Shurikens Round Monster with teeth (1000 points) - Jump on it WARP Zone --------- Lower left corner trio of bushes, upper left of the three --> World 2-1 --> World 3-1 Special Items ------------- Star - Closest bush to the exit door on the right side next to the fence Shuriken - Far left bush of four-set of bushes to the left of top fence --------- WORLD 1-3 --------- [W1-3] Enemies ------- Horned, Spiky-Haired (500 points) - Punches, Shurikens Fat, Robed Guys (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens BONUS Room ---------- Lower right block of the set of blocks near the upper-right corner Special Items ------------- Shuriken - Top block of blocks to the right of bottom pond Punch - Lower left block of blocks to the left of bottom pond --------- WORLD 1-4 --------- [W1-4] This is the first stage where you will take on a giant monster, but this is an OPTIONAL battle. It is apparently possible to kill it, but it would be very difficult. Instead, make use of the arrow points at the top-right and bottom-left to run away from it, or use Mirackle Kicks to skip past it. However, they will still occasionally spit out bullets, so stay away from them. From now on, you can use the Sword if you picked it up in the previous section. To switch between punches and Sword, press Down + A + B at the same time. Enemies ------- Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Gunmen (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Round Monster with teeth (1000 points) - Jump on it, Shurikens Long-nosed (5000 points) - Sword BREAK TIME Room --------------- Lone barrel to the right and south from the exit door Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Right barrel of left trio of barrels at the start Key - Lone Barrel in the centre left niche Shurikens - Rightmost barrel from the exit door --------- WORLD 3-4 --------- [W3-4] Another big enemy will show up in World 3-4, sometimes at the start of the stage. You can fight him, or you can walk around and take the arrow warps at each corner to avoid him long enough until the regular enemies return. Enemies ------- Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Fat, Robed Guys (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Leftmost barrel of four pack on the left side --------- WORLD 4-1 --------- [W4-1] There is a cactus-like enemy in this level that the author is unsure of how to defeat, since punches, shurikens and jumping on it did not work, or if it is just an environmental ornament (it does not cause contact damage). Miracle Kick over the wall to get to the exit door. Enemies ------- Horned, Spiky-Haired (500 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Left block at the start 10 Miracle Kicks - Second-left block at the start 1-Up - Second-left block at the start 10 Miracle Kicks - Second-right block at the start Widespread Shuriken - Lower right side block above centreline wall --------- WORLD 4-2 --------- [W4-2] Another large enemy will show up sometimes during this level. In the Bonus room, bullets will go horizontally across the centre of the stage, presenting an environmental danger. Enemies ------- Vampire (5000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Round Monster with teeth (1000 points) - Jump on it, Shurikens BONUS Room ---------- Top of two blocks against the lower right wall Special Items ------------- 3-way Shurikens - block to left of pond 10 Miracle Kicks - Top block of the four-pack of blocks to right of exit wall --------- WORLD 4-3 --------- [W4-3] It should be noted that in this area, you can smash the walls with your punches, so no need to jump over the walls to get around. Enemies ------- Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Floating Heads (5000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword BONUS Room ---------- Block to the right of the left statue Special Items ------------- Widespread Shuriken - Block underneath left statue Crystal Ball - Block to the left of the right statue 10 Miracle Kicks - Left block right below the exit door 10 Miracle Kicks - Right block right below the exit door --------- WORLD 4-4 --------- [W4-4] In this level, you will have four statues at the back end that spit out bullets straight south throughout the entirety of the time you are in the level. After clearing out multiple normal enemies, you will have to face two mobile boss enemies that shoot bullets out straight south and diagonally. To defeat them, your best bet is to use the sword and tackle them one at a time. Wait until one of them shuffles in front of the exit door, move up slowly while also moving left and right to dodge any shots they spit out straight south, then slash at the boss several times to destroy it. Repeat for the second one to be able to head out the exit door onto the next world. Enemies ------- Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Left of the two blocks to the northwest of the south pond 10 Miracle Kicks - Left block south of the exit door --------- WORLD 5-1 --------- [W5-1] Enemies ------- Round Monster with teeth (1000 points) - Jump on it Sand Mole (5000 points) - Jump on it BONUS Room ---------- Lower right skull Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Lower left skull Mirror - Lower left skull 10 Miracle Kicks - Skull on left island 10 Miracle Kicks - Skull on right island Key - Skull on right side of northern land mass --------- WORLD 5-2 --------- [W5-2] Enemies ------- Horned, Spiky-Haired (500 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Sand Mole (5000 points) - Jump on it WARP Room --------- Right of the two skulls in the centre of the level --> World 6-1 --> World 7-1 Special Items ------------- Fire - Lower left of three skulls in the lower right corner 10 Miracle Kicks - Upper right of four skulls in the upper right corner --------- WORLD 5-3 --------- [W5-3] In addition to the return of the long-nosed enemies, there are also some submerged enemies with only their head and part of their bodies above the sand. These are jumped on. Enemies ------- Long-nosed (5000 points) - Sword Submerged (5000 points) - Jump on it BREAK TIME Room --------------- Higher of the two lower-right skulls Special Items ------------- Urn - Lower left skull between two ponds High-Speed Shoes - Lower left skull above right pond Shuriken power-up(?) - Lower of two skulls right above where you enter --------- WORLD 5-4 --------- [W5-4] This level has another big enemy wandering around, specifically a snake, which once again you do not have to confront it - this is still entirely optional to fight. Enemies ------- Horned, Spiky-Haired (500 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword WARP Room --------- On the tile five panels south of the right side of the exit door. Punch to make a key appear, punch again to make the bonus door open. --------- WORLD 6-1 --------- [W6-1] In this level you will encounter teleporting enemies. If you get hit by one of the bullets they shoot at you, you will temporarily transform into a chicken. To kill them, use a sword, shurikens or jump on them (jumping will take a couple of hits). Enemies ------- Round Monster with teeth (1000 points) - Jump on it Teleporter (5000 points) - Jump on it, Sword, Shurikens BONUS Room ---------- Barrel above left pond Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Top barrel to the left of the upper right pond Shurikens - Bottom barrel to the left of the upper right pond 1-Up - Barrel below the upper right pond --------- WORLD 6-2 --------- [W6-2] The big sand monster may show up in this stage, sometimes right at the start, sometimes later, hanging around before disappearing later on. The black spikes that wander around kill on contact, but seem to be capable of being destroyed with the sword, but they will bounce around first and take out one of the horned enemies, blowing up at the same time. The author believes the spikes or *something* occasionally can shoot out some sort of triad of lightning bolts. Jump over these to dodge an attack. Enemies ------- Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Spikes (5000 points) - Sword BONUS Room ---------- Barrel to the right of the far left volcano --> Note that these have the bullets environmental obstacle again Special Items ------------- 3-way Shurikens - Barrel to the left of the far right volcano 10 Miracle Kicks - Barrel above the far right volcano --------- WORLD 6-3 --------- [W6-3] Enemies ------- Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Fat, Robed Guys (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens Floating Heads (5000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Barrel closest to the exit door south of it --------- WORLD 6-4 --------- [W6-4] The giant snake enemy returns for this level, and you will even have two on-screen if you do not kill the first one quickly. However, you do not need to slay either of them to be able to progress through the exit door. Enemies ------- Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Vampire (5000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword BONUS Room ---------- One tile south of the barrel slightly to the right and south of the exit door. Punch around that tile to make the door appear. Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Barrel from left of where you enter at Shurikens - Barrel in upper right corner --------- WORLD 7-1 --------- [W7-1] Enemies ------- Long-nosed (5000 points) - Sword Submerged (5000 points) - Jump on it Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Upper left barrel --------- WORLD 7-2 --------- [W7-2] Enemies ------- Teleporter (5000 points) - Jump on it, Sword, Shurikens Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword BONUS Room ---------- Lower left barrel of the four barrels next to the northwest corner Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Left barrel of the two barrels above the south pond --------- WORLD 7-3 --------- [W7-3] Like other levels, you can break open the walls in this level. This is a fairly short level, with no bonus room or breakable parts for items. Enemies ------- Black Spikes (5000 points) - Sword Gunmen (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword --------- WORLD 7-4 --------- [W7-4] There are statues at the north end that will constantly be spamming bullet fire straight down throughout the battle. Large snakes and sandmen will also occasionally come in to break up the flow of battle. There are no special items or bonus rooms in this area. Enemies ------- Long-nosed (5000 points) - Sword Submerged (5000 points) - Jump on it --------- WORLD 8-1 --------- [W8-1] You can punch the two guns in this level that are fixed in place and shooting left or right. Enemies ------- Gunmen (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Block with Limbs (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword Horned (1000 points) - Punches, Shurikens, Sword --------- WORLD 8-2 --------- [W8-2] Much like with World 8-1, there are no special item pick-ups or bonus rooms in this area, though it is a little more enclosed with less open space. The static guns in here are again capable of being destroyed. There are no big enemies this time around, however. Enemies ------- Black Spikes (5000 points) - Sword Teleporter (5000 points) - Jump on it, Sword, Shurikens --------- WORLD 8-3 --------- [W8-3] Enemies ------- Long-nosed (5000 points) - Sword Submerged (5000 points) - Jump on it WARP Door --------- Break open the block to the left and hit the key to reveal the warp door above you. This warp door can return you to ANY level except for 8-4, so you could restart all the way from 1-1 and continue up again, building your score. Special Items ------------- 10 Miracle Kicks - Far right block at the entrance --------- WORLD 8-4 --------- [W8-4] You must take on the only mandatory boss in this game (as 4-4 could be warped by). You do not have to defeat this boss all in one life - you can lose lives and the damage caused to the boss will be cumulative. Remember though that you lose your Shoes after you die once, so do not try to go running across the water. Use your sword to deal damage to him until he is defeated. Enjoy your ending. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Passwords -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [PASS] When on the Title Screen, press the following button inputs for the following effects: --------------- VIEW THE ENDING --------------- Up, Up, Down, Down, A, B, A, B, A, A, B, Start ---------------------------------------- START WITH 80 LIVES AND 99 MIRACLE KICKS ---------------------------------------- Up, Up, Down, Down, A, B, A, B, hold the A button and press Start ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Donations/Amazon -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [DONT] I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling generous, feel free to send one via PayPal to gammabetaalphafaqs AT gmail DOT com Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the link below.
