Credits 0. INTRO ======== I wrote this FAQ because I wanted to play the Amiga version of MK2 but was surprised to see that there weren't any moves lists for the platform on GameFAQs. So I wrote my own. This document lists mostly Amiga-specific details of the game. Some other stuff, such as ways to fight Noob Saibot, are the same as in other versions of the game. See section 4. The moves and tricks documented in this FAQ were tested using the WinUAE emulator, as I don't have an actual Amiga. This shouldn't have any bearing on the validity of the information presented below, with the possible exception of the Kintaro morph Fatality - see section 4.8. NOTATION =========== U - up D - down B - back F - forward Fire - fire 1 Fire2 - fire 2 (using a 2-button joystick, must be set in options first) X-Y - do X, then do Y X+Y - do X and Y at the same time X+(Y-Z) - hold down X, do Y, do Z, release X 2. COMMON MOVES =============== Standing block - B+Fire Crouching block - D-B Uppercut - D-Fire Low kick - F+Fire or F+Fire2 Throw - F+Fire or Fire+(F) (very erratic, not sure) Sweep - D+B Roundhouse - Fire-B or B+F2 Crouching low kick - D-F Crouching high kick - D-Fire2 DEAD POOL FATALITY - D-Fire+(D+B) (close) 3. CHARACTER MOVES ================== X (Y sec.) means hold down X for Y seconds, then release X. For moves like Block+(X-Y-Z), first do Block, keep holding down Fire, do X-Y-Z and then release Fire. If a move requires you to press Fire while holding Block, hold B instead of fire. There are a few moves that use D-B-Fire as input, which means they can easily result in a sweep instead. You can do B-D-B-Fire or F-D-B-Fire instead to make sure they work as intended. Fatalities are printed in ALL CAPS, followed by Stage Fatality, Babality and Friendship. Stage Fatalities can only be done in Kombat Tomb and The Pit II. Unlike other ports of the game, on the Amiga there are no special requirements for Babalities and Friendships. All moves are tested and confirmed to work. TIPS AND TRICKS ================== 4.01 DISABLE VIOLENCE --------------------- In the main menu (START + OPTIONS) type FIONA. If done right, the screen will flash green. Now blood and Fatalities are disabled - you can only do Friendships, Babalities and the Dead Pool Stage Fatality. To re-enable violence, type FIONA in the main menu again - if done right, the screen will flash red. 4.02 CHEAT MENU --------------- In the options menu type ZEDWEB - a new menu called DIAGNOSTICS will appear, where you can make yourself invincible, start at Shao Kahn etc. SOAK TEST shows a CPU vs CPU fight of random characters when you select START, other options are self-explanatory. Type ZEDWEB again to disable the cheat menu. 4.03 RANDOM SELECT ----------------- On the player selection screen move press U+Fire. Unlike other versions of the game, in the Amiga port the cursor doesn't need to be on specific characters for the random select to work. 4.04 FIGHT SMOKE ---------------- On the Portal stage, when you hit the opponent with an uppercut, Dan Forden's head will randomly appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen and say "TOASTY!". When that happens, press D+Fire. NOTE: I've never managed to pull this off, I've only read accounts of people who supposedly did. Some say you need to stand in front of the portal for it to work, but that didn't make any difference for me. Perhaps you'll have more luck. 4.05 FIGHT JADE --------------- There doesn't seem to be any requirement for fighting Jade, unlike other versions of the game. Just defeat the opponent before the ? sign in the ladder and you'll be taken to her automatically. 4.06 DISABLE MUSIC ------------------ Pressing the S key at any time disables music. To turn it back on you need to restart the game. 4.07 PAUSE AND RESET GAME ------------------------- During a fight press the P key to pause the game. While paused, press P again to unpause or Q to reset the game. 4.08 LIU KANG FRIENDSHIP GLITCH ------------------------------- Start a Liu Kang vs Shang Tsung match. Morph Shang Tsung into Liu Kang, then beat him before he morphs back. Now do Liu Kang's Friendship. 4.09 SHANG TSUNG'S KINTARO MORPH -------------------------------- Apparently you need at least 2 MB Chip RAM to do this Fatality, otherwise the game will freeze. Personally, I never managed to do this Fatality without the game freezing, even with 8 MB Chip RAM or 2 MB Chip and 8 MB Fast, but there are YouTube videos that prove it to be possible. See: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WCokODjEIGM. 4.10 PLAY FROM HARD DRIVE ------------------------- The game comes with no hard drive installer, but you can install it with a fan-made tool called MortalKombat2_Hd which you can find on Aminet (http://aminet.net/game/patch/MortalKombat2H.lha). Unpack the archive to a directory on the HD, run the INSTALL.EXE file and insert the floppies when prompted. The installer is intended for the 4-disk version of the game, it may or may not work with the 3-disk version. NOTE: To see the installer and the game files, you might need to select Window -> Show -> All Files in Workbench. To do this you need Kickstart version 2.0 or newer. 4.11 FIGHT NOOB SAIBOT ---------------------- To fight against Noob Saibot you need to win 25 fights in a row. If you lose to him, you will have to win 25 more fights - this is unlike the arcade, where you would have to fight Saibot until you've beaten him. NOTE: For some reason the 2-player game uses up credits. This means that in order to reach Noob Saibot you'll have to increase the number of credits in the Options menu or enable free play in the Diagnostics cheat menu. 4.12 PONG --------- Due to the credits decreasing with each fight in the 2-player mode, it is likely that the hidden game of Pong may not be present in the Amiga port, or at least it might be unavailable without cheating - in other ports, you need to win 250 fights to play Pong. 4.13 STAGE FATALITY FUN ----------------------- In the Kombat Tomb do the Stage Fatality, then press and hold D on your joystick before your opponent hits the spikes - after a while he'll fall down to the ground. In the arcade and other versions you can also hold D after the Stage Fatality in the Dead Pool to hear the skeleton mumble something. This is, however, not present in the Amiga version. 5.
