AN OCEAN OF TROUBLE "Light to Mega Man! Light to Mega Man! Come in Mega Man!" "We have a CODE: RED emergency off our northern coast. Dr. Wily has taken control of an oil platform and is drilling through the earth's crust. He plans to tap the energy generated by the earth's magma to fuel his newest robotic monstrosity! We need you to go in and melt this robot down to size." "My intelligence sources say that Dr. Wily has eight of your old foes waiting for you, so I'll have Rush and Flip-Top meet you there. Get going and good luck." "Light out." =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 3) CONTROLS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section describes the basic controls. Up to three pellets can be fired on the screen at one time, and it can be charged to deal more harm. -------------- Rush Coil (RC) -------------- Received From: Snake Man Rush Coil summons Rush in his spring form in front of Mega Man. The Blue Bomber can hop onto the robotic dog to be catapaulted into the air to reach ledges and the like. ---------------- Spark Shock (SP) ---------------- Received From: Spark Man Spark Shock fires a ball of electricity. Nothing special. ----------------- Gemini Laser (GE) ----------------- Received From: Gemini Man Gemini Laser launches a laser that is capable of bouncing off walls for a short while. ----------------- Snake Search (SN) ----------------- Received From: Snake Man Snake Search deploys up to two snakes at a time on the floor. These snakes can climb walls to hit foes. ----------------- Shadow Blade (SH) ----------------- Received From: Shadow Man Shadow Blade enables Mega Man to throw ninja stars a short distance. It can be tossed directly forward, a 45 degree angle, and a 90 degree angle. --------------- Punk Blade (PU) --------------- Received From: Punk Can we say Metal Blade? Punk Blade fires a spinning blade in an arc. Energy consumption is extremely low. One notch is equal to eight blades! ------------- Rush Jet (RJ) ------------- Received From: Dust Man This has to be THE worst version of Rush Jet I've seen! Rush appears in his jet form. Mega Man can ride him to travel across dangerous gaps. The jet only travels forward. That's right..it can't even go up or down! ----------------- Dive Missile (DI) ----------------- Received From: Dive Man Dive Missile is a simple missile that homes in on the nearest foe. Use it to hit robots out of your reach. ------------------ Skull Barrier (SK) ------------------ Received From: Skull Man Skull Barrier protects Mega Man from some weapons. The shield vanishes after taking too much flak. --------------- Drill Bomb (DR) --------------- Received From: Drill Man Drill Bomb fires a bomb that explodes upon contact. If you press fire again while it's moving, it detonates. Can be used to destroy barricades. ----------------- Dust Crusher (DU) ----------------- Received From: Dust Man Dust Crusher launches a piece of junk. It splits into four smaller pieces when it hits an enemy. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 5) BOSS STRATEGIES ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Here are tips on the bosses... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.1] BOSS ORDER >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is my suggested order for taking on the Robot Masters. ------- Group 1 ------- 1. Snake Man 2. Gemini Man 3. Shadow Man 4. Spark Man ------- Group 2 ------- 1. Dust Man 2. Skull Man 3. Dive Man 4. Drill Man <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.2] ROBOT MASTERS >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> --------- Snake Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster (P) / Spark Shock (SP) Receive: Snake Search (SN) & Rush Coil (RC) Stick to using charged Mega Busters shots throughout this fight. Snake Man paces back and forth in the room, while firing Search Snakes on occassion. I would recommend holding your ground on the far left. If you fire charged shots quickly enough, you should be able to walk away from this fight without wasting a life or an E-Tank. ---------- Gemini Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Snake Search (SN) Receive: Gemini Laser (GE) Gemini Man starts off the battle by duplicating himself. The duo move around the room in a counterclockwise motion. Each time you fire, one of the two will do the same. Hit either Gemini Man three times with Snake Search to eliminate the duplicate. Then the robot shoots his Gemini Laser. Watch out for it, as it causes significant damage! ---------- Shadow Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Gemini Laser (GE) Receive: Shadow Blade (SH) Shadow Man's pattern consists of hopping and throwing ninja stars. His jumps are at two different heights, one of which you can slide under him. Shadow Man really isn't that hard. Because he's usually on the ground, your Gemini Laser shouldn't have a problem hitting him. --------- Spark Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Shadow Blade (SH) Receive: Spark Shock (SP) If you'll notice, Spark Man's lair is convienently placed to make use of the angles you can fire the Shadow Blade at. Spark Man uses two offensive electric moves. One is a large ball of electricity, and the other is a spreadshot that travels at several angles. -------- Dust Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster (P) / Drill Bomb (DR) Receive: Dust Crusher (DU) & Rush Jet (RJ) Even with only the Mega Buster, Dust Man is cake. His leaps are high enough to give you plenty of room to slide. When the Robot Master uses his Dust Crusher, stand in place and jump before it hits you. Doing that enables Mega Man to safely evade the small pieces of junk. --------- Skull Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Dust Crusher (DU) Receive: Skull Barrier (SK) Skull Man is much more agile compared to the other bosses. When he puts his Skull Barrier up, he'll just stand there and not do anything else. Wait until the shield vanishes, and then let him have it! Skull Man also fires his arm cannon on occassion, but it's easy enough to dodge. -------- Dive Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Skull Barrier (SK) Receive: Dive Missile (DI) Since you're using the Skull Barrier, you have to get pretty close to Dive Man to hit him. Forunately, he seems to travel slightly slower than he did in the NES version. Your shield will protect you from the two Dive Missiles he launches frequently. So, the only way you can take damage is from being careless. :P --------- Drill Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Dive Missile (DI) Receive: Drill Bomb (DR) Drill Man is capable of going underground for a few seconds. Keep walking or sliding back and forth to avoid him when he returns above ground. You shouldn't encounter trouble dodging his Drill Bombs. Remember, Dive Missile automatically homes in on the target, so fire and forget! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.3] DR. WILY >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ---------- Giant Suzy ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster (P) / Spark Shock (SP) This boss seems to have a completely random attack pattern. It either slides around the walls or bounces around, the latter being the more dangerous. Its jumping can stun Mega Man for a short time. It's minor, but you're left open to take a hit. Use either the Mega Buster or the Spark Shock. The buster does more damage than the other weapon when fully charged. The boss enters a "hyper" state when it takes a lot of hits. ---- Punk ---- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster (P) Receive: Punk Blade (PU) Nasty. Even a few slip-ups here will easily cost you a life. Punk follows two maneuvers. He jumps up, throws a spinning blade, and continues that for three or four times. A hit from that takes off about 25% of your energy. His other move is morphing into a blade and flying across the screen. Before he actually does anything, Punk "warms" up by bouncing. The amount of bounces is random, so stay far away in order to have adequate time to react. When he finally does move, Punk is either at ground level or at Mega Man's head. For the latter, you will have to slide to dodge him. Taking a hit from that depletes nearly a third of your energy. The best time to attack is when Punk is jumping and tossing blades. Try to make sure your shots are not blocked by his weapons! ------------------------- Wily Machine (First Form) ------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Charged Mega Buster (P) The only weapon that affects this monster is charged Mega Buster rounds to its eyes. This boss may seem overwhelming at first, but this fight is quite easy! Simply stay to the far left, and only jump to avoid missiles and shoot your buster. By doing that, you won't have to put up with this robot leaping around. -------------------------- Wily Machine (Second Form) -------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Punk Blade (PU) Dr. Wily doesn't do much here. The robot launches two bouncy balls at Mega Man's position. That's it! In between attacks, jump and toss a spinning blade at Wily's cockpit. You have plenty of ammo, so don't be concerned about that! =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 6) PASSWORDS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section lists passwords for your use.
