------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------[James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing]--------------------- ----------------------------[by Ice Queen Zero]-------------------------------- ---------------------------[ Sega Master System ]------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- also known as Heavyweight Champ in Europe. Rehashed as George Foreman Knockout Boxing but slightly different. o---------------------o INTRODUCTION o---------------------o Step into the ring as the first man to defeat the baddest man on the planet, "Iron" Mike Tyson. This game was Sega's answer to Mike Tyson's Punch Out with their Genesis does what Nintendon't but I'm FAQing the SMS/GG Version of the game as part of the SMS Completion Project. The game is not the same as the Sega Genesis game of the same name. The SMS version is a rare find as Buster did not get to defend his title as he got KO'd by Evander Holyfield 8 months later. o---------------------o DISCLAIMER o---------------------o James Buster Douglas Knockout Boxing is a trademark of Sega and all copyrights belong to them. You then choose if you want to play a 1 or 2 player game. You will fight against five opponents who get tougher each fight you progress but I consider T. White as weaker than B. Santana. Your character Buster Douglas starts out with 1 bar each and must defeat his foe to earn more to add to his stats. P stands for Attack Power (meaning that you'll hit harder if you connect). R is for Resilience/Recovery (meaning that you'll regain more stamina between rounds or after getting up from a knockdown). F is for Speed though the letter may stand for Feet (meaning your fighter will move faster). Getting 3 knockdowns in the same round will result in a TKO. You can also get a TKO victory or defeat if you or the opponent is out of stamina when knocked down thus the ref won't even bother counting. In fact, if either fighter gets knocked down a certain number of times. They will stay down for the 10-count. Don't even bother mashing the buttons as getting up is done automatically. A super punch is down by holding 1 and 2 then releasing it when close to launch a haymaker that knocks the opponent across the ring and in some cases is a good use for distancing yourself away from an opponent trying to corner you. Missing the punch will cause you to lose energy. After 12 rounds of boxing, if there is no winner by this time, the match will go to the scorecards. The fighter with the most points is the winner or else it's a draw. Should you lose a match, you can get a rematch but losing that rematch and it's game over. Fighters -------- B. Santana Power: 2 Recovery: 1 Speed: 2 3 Special Punches T. White Power: 3 Recovery: 2 Speed: 3 3 Special Punches M. Williams Power: 3 Recovery: 5 Speed: 3 4 Special Punches R. Bernard Power: 5 Recovery: 3 Speed: 4 4 Special Punches K. Gibson Power: 5 Recovery: 5 Speed: 5 5 Special Punches The first fight is tough and the second fight is easier in comparison. The third fight is where things get real tough. The title fight is the toughest one of all as K. Gibson is all maxed out. Beat him and you are the champ. o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o Sega for making this game. GameFAQs and others for hosting.
