Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Famista 2 is the second game of a trio of baseball games for the Game Boy. It plays much like any other baseball game of the era, with simple controls and a fairly minimal approach. There are two modes: Pennant Race (play a season against every other team, plus two bonus teams at the end), and All Stars (play an exhibition game using "all-star" teams). My only complaint about this game is that the players move relatively slowly when running the bases, and a majority of your hits at bat (both player and computer) are very weak, so good hits to the outfield are rare. Aside from that, it's a simple enough game, so if you want a quick baseball fix, it wouldn't hurt to try this one. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ========== Game Modes ========== Pennant Race (こうしきせん): Play a 15-game "season" against every other team. After beating every selectable team, you will play a special team called "Stadiums". Win that game and you will face one last time called the "All Japan" team. Beat them and the season will be complete. All-Stars (オールスターせん): Play a single game where you can play as and against one of four "all-star" teams. ======== Pre-Game ======== After you choose a game mode, you will go to a team selection screen. In the Pennant Race mode, once you pick your team, you will have the opportunity to enter a four digit password to pick up where you left off previously. If you do not have one, simply press A to pick the computer's first team. Finally, choose whether you want to play a 9 or 5-inning game, and press A to proceed to the stadium selection screen. You can pick from two stadiums, but there is no major difference between the two aside from the background. Once you pick a stadium, you will get to select your starting pitcher for the game. After that, the game will begin! ========= Post Game ========= Following a Pennant Race game, you will first go to a screen where you will see the final box score. Note the four digit number in the top-right corner; this is your password! To use it, select the same team on Pennant Race mode and enter the password to pick up where you left off in the "season". All Star mode does not have a password, and you return to the title screen after you press B to continue. If you are in Pennant Race mode, the next screen will give you a score based on various actions throughout the game. You get points for hits, home runs, stolen bases, consecutive outs, and the pitching performance itself. The score does not mean anything, not to worry. Press B from here and you return to the team selection screen, where your password will again be displayed, along with the next team you will face in the sequence. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5. Secrets/Tips and Tricks -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ====================== Hidden Ball Speed Mode ====================== On the title screen, hold B and press Start. You will access a hidden screen known as Ball Speed Mode. There, you can adjust the throwing distance (そくてい　きょり) from 1-30 meters, pitch it (とうきゅう) to start the spinning numbers, catch it (ほきゅう) to see the speed, then reset to throw again (りせつと). The max speed is recorded, so you can try and beat that score if you want.
