This one covers a Nintendo DS game, which is a compilation of three other games. These are not, to my knowledge anyways, individual DS games, but, rather, three relatively popular card games by Hasbro - Uno, Skip-Bo, and the Uno/Tetris derivative in Uno Freefall. ... That's all I have to say. To do so, you will put them on the face-up discard pile next to the deck of cards. However, this discarded card must meet one of several conditions in relevance to the discard pile's top card: - Same number or symbol - Same color - The discarded card can also be a Wild/Wild Draw Four card If you don't have a playable card, then you can draw from the deck. If this drawn card is playable, you may play it - otherwise, play circles on to the next person. If you discard a card with a symbol on it, certain effects could occur: - Skip: This is marked with a crossed-through circle. The next person will skip their turn, regardless of choice. - Reverse: The play order reverses. - Draw Two: The next player must draw two cards. - Basic Wild: This is marked with just four colors. This will change the color on the discard pile to the card player's chosen color. - Wild Draw Four: Your antithesis and best friend. This will not only change the color on the discard pile, but force the next player to draw four cards. However, the play of this can be challenged because it is illegal to play it if the player of it has cards of the discard pile's current color. If challenged, the card player will have to draw four cards ... but only if the play was, in fact, illegal. If it wasn't, the challenger then draws EIGHT cards. O_o Play generally circles around someone has lost all of their cards. There is one key thing to remember. If you get rid of your second-to-last card, you have to call "Uno" or you'll have to draw cards if someone notices. To call Uno, press the R Button. -------------------- Game Modes and Setup -------------------- Game Modes: ``````````` Quick Play allows for a quicker set-up of a game by giving you fewer customization options. Custom Game allows the whole thing. The Special Modes allows for several challenge modes. These include Challenge Mode (five challenging levels), Endurance Mode (getting as high a score as possible before losing too much),and Timed Mode (play within a time limit). Game Setup: ``````````` This assumes the full setup allowed in Custom Game. First is the player setup menu. You can choose from two to four players, and, if four players are being used, whether to play on teams. Team members will play separately, but their benefits and losses affect each other the same. Next, you'll choose whether each of the players will be a human or computer. Human players are capable of passing around the Nintendo DS console, so there is no need for the use of local Wi-Fi. If a computer is in use, you can choose their difficulty (easy, normal, hard), at the bottom. Then you can choose the game type. There are several modes you can play. Some of them also have certain win conditions that can be edited as well. - Endless, where you play until you want to stop. - Points, where you play until enough points are earned (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, or 1,000). - Rounds, where you play until someone has won enough games (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10). - Survival, where you play until you run out of points. Then you leave the game after losing. The last person remaining is the winner. The beginning points can be 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, or 1,000. You can also choose to play using the house rules. If on, you get to choose a few things. These can include drawing cards until you can play one of them or just having one drawn card; the ability for one person to play multiple Draw Two cards at once; how many cards a player will end up drawing upon being successfully challenged on not saying Uno, which is zero to five; how many cards you start with, which is five to fifteen; and, finally, the ability to play Wild Draw Four cards illegally for an attempt at a bluff. Then there are the alternate cards. If you opt to use them, then you can use a Wild version of the Reverse and Skip cards; a Wild Symbol card, which allows the card's player to choose a number or symbol; an All Draw Two card, which makes everyone but the card's player draw two cards; and a Leader Draw Two card, which makes the player(s) with the least number of cards draw two cards. After the various thematic themes are chosen, you can finally begin your game. This is played along the general rules outlined previously, in addition to any changes in the house rules and such you may have made. Good luck. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Section Five: Skip-Bo **USBUFF_5** =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= ------------- Game Controls ------------- The Touch Screen can be used in lieu of the obvious choices, depending on the situation. ~ D-Pad : Move cursors. ~ A Button : Confirm decision. ~ B Button : Cancel/decline decision. ~ X Button : N/A. ~ Y Button : N/A. ~ L Button : N/A. ~ R Button : N/A. ~ Start Button : Pause gameplay. ~ Select Button: N/A. --------------------- How to Play This Game --------------------- Winning this game will consist of emptying your stock pile. Your stock pile is all face-down, except for the playable top card. You empty your stock pile by building on the four building piles from your hand, discard pile, and stock pile. A "1" will usually start a building pile, then you build them up in sequence - 1, 2, 3, ... 12. Skip-Bo cards are wild and can be used for anything you want. You'll begin the turn with five cards in your hand. Place them as you will, then you get more and continue your turn if you use all five. Once you're done, you have to place a card - any card - in any of your discard piles. It is ideal to first start four of them and keep an eye on potential future straights, for you can play from the top of a discard pile as well! -------------------- Game Modes and Setup -------------------- Game Modes: ``````````` Quick Play allows for a quicker set-up of a game by giving you fewer customization options. You need to connect three falling Uno cards in one of the acceptable methods of matching - same number or same color. The groups can be horizontal, vertical, or in an L-shape. These matches will earn you points; forming cascades (chain reactions of matching) earns you bonus points. You will probably note the Uno-emblem cards. To flip them over, you need to match a card next to them. Also note the Wild/Wild Draw Four cards - you can change their color as they fall, so remember this. It is set once they hit the ground, though. The Draw cards will flip over the Uno cards if matched. As time runs on, new cards will rise up from the bottom. Your goal is to keep them at a minimum - if you don't, they'll rise up to the top, which, like in Tetris, means a game over! To delay the new rows, you can match up Skip or Reverse cards. In Versus Mode, you can match up Draw, Skip, or Reverse cards to bank up specials to use on an opponent. Skip freezes the opponent's controls; Reverse reverses them; and Draw will force more cards onto the field. ---------- Game Modes ---------- Classic Mode plays like the game outlined above. Special Modes include the Flippy Mode, where nearby cards always flip; Perfect Match Mode, where you need to match every card on-screen; and Timed Mode, where there is a timer. Finally, there is the Versus Mode, where you play against a number of AI opponents. You can play against human opponents via the title screen. This mode includes a Versus Classic, a Versus High Score (you compete for the best score), and a Versus Timed (you play for the better time).
