If I get back to you when you e-mail me something like that, it'll probably be something very mean. :| Contact me if you have a new strategy for a certain X operation, as this will aid those who view this guide. I will give full credit to those who contact me with new strategies, as long as they provide a name. Or I'll just use the name I got as an e-mail address (except for the @email.com part; so, using my e-mail address as an example, "NickOfTime146@gmail.com" would be credited as just "NickOfTime146"). Also, have the subject of the e-mail be something like "Trauma Center X operations guide" and I'll know that you have something to say about it. Since I may forget to add something, let me know if you're still having trouble with a certain part in an operation. Be sure to detail it so I know what you're talking about. If I add it to the guide, I'll credit you for bring it to my attention. -------------- | Introduction | -------------- This guide uses the same template as my X-operations guide for Trauma Center: Under the Knife 1. The difference, though, is that in this guide I will detail almost everything about the GUILT, the Special Bonuses, and give general tips for XS-ranking. There is going to be some spoilers, obviously. Despite this, the guide assumes you know what you're doing in terms of where the tools are, what they do, and what the procedure for defeating each GUILT is. This guide will also be really detailed, based on the pattern I have for each one. How much HP they have, what their attacks do, what you should do after attacking, and other details will be included. ------------------- | Table of Contents | ------------------- 1. General Tips 2. General Tips | ----------------- If you just started on these X operations, one easy thing to do is learn how to use two styli. It helped me finish nearly all of them easier, and it'll help with getting higher ranks on them. If you want to learn how to use two styli, try doing simpler operations with both of them, using your left hand to pick out the tools on the left, and using your right hand to get things done and pick out the tools on the right. Or vice versa, if you're left-handed. After a while, you could try doing things with your left hand, like cutting open a patient or suturing. Just know that it'll be a bit easier to get the operations done with two styli. It's definitely possible with one, but it probably might take a little longer. As always, practice makes perfect. If you're stuck on a mission, don't feel bad about it. All you need is a little more practice to be more precise and a little faster. Especially on Tetarti and Sige. ------------------------- | 2. X Operations "Story" | ------------------------- I put "story" in quotes because of the fact that there's pretty much no story. The only reason these operations exist is to give you that extra challenge you crave so much. However, there is that little bit of dialogue between Stiles and Raitenau/Mercer/Mayazumi that some people would consider a small bit of "story." So I'll include that bit of info. Look for it in the "X# operations" sections; it'll be there. And again, the patients you're operating on are completely anonymous. But since Adam isn't there anymore, I don't have any theories on who they are. ----------------- | 3. X Operations | ----------------- Each GUILT is accompanied by their respective "owners." Kyriaki, Tetarti, and Pempti (the "old" GUILT), are joined by Heinrich von Raitenau. Nous, Bythos, and Sige (the "neo-GUILT") are accompanied by Patrick Mercer. Aletheia has some meaning with Mayazumi even though it just made her look really old, so she's in the background of that operation. They all have their own intimidation lines, which are said during the operation, after the operation, and whenever you fail. Von Raitenau (X1, X2, X3): During the operation: Do you seriously believe you can defy the laws of nature that bring humanity its rightful death? After the operation: Doctors like you, with your foolish ideals... You'll destroy the world! Failed the operation: A foolish mortal, choosing to defy the providence of nature... Your struggles are futile, Doctor. Mercer (X4, X5, X6): During: Soon you will see for yourself just how powerless doctors are! After: Even with the power you hold, there are diseases that can't be cured... Failed: Do you see how weak doctors are? You won't be needed in the world still to come... Mayazumi (X7): During: These GUILT are my children... Let's see you try to rebel against their might! After: Th-This can't be...! My children! Are you saying that I... that we... were wrong...!? Failed: The old world shall end soon... Now sleep, in the furthest reaches of the darkness... And now for the reason you're here. ------------------ -----| 3.1. X1: Kyriaki | ------------------ Time Limit: 5:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 1: Kyriaki, the wicked blades Raitenau: Through GUILT alone can mankind find salvation. My grandfather, the greatest patriarch, Adam... Why do you refuse to understand his noble teachings? Derek: I'll never accept such twisted, self-serving logic! - Special Bonus: No Healing Touch 100 No misses 500 Completed with 100 left 700 MAX CHAIN Over 50 700 Kyriaki HP: 3 Queen Kyriaki HP: 6 Kyriaki's laceration: 5 vitals Cutting out an egg: 3 vitals Cutting out the Queen: 6 vitals (+5 from the resulting laceration) The initial "spawning" lacerations (including the 3 from the Queen) don't do any actual damage, other than the normal blood loss vital damage. - The strategy for this operation has changed drastically compared to Under the Knife 1. Instead of gel+syringe every 2 seconds, you now have to actually suture every cut as soon as possible. In the beginning, the regular lacerations spike vitals more than the large gashes, and since time matters quite a bit in this for the bonus, suture the normal ones first so you won't have to waste as much time with the stabilizer. There will be 3 Kyriaki for the first wave, and when you defeat 2, another 2 more will spawn. The first thing you should do is suture everything right when they spawn. They don't cause lacerations that quickly, so if you need to raise vitals, just go ahead and use the stabilizer after suturing. For the remaining 2 Kyriaki, make sure you leave some kind of injury on the patient before defeating that last one. Unless you're a miracle worker, you more than likely have around 20 vitals left. This won't last you very far with the Queen. So leave some kind of cut or laceration, raise vitals to 99, then go ahead and fix it up. When the Queen appears, suture the 3 lacerations, and ultrasound the four corners. This gives you a large area of effect, and will help find the eggs, along with the Queen, a bit faster. If you haven't found any from the corners, go along the centers of each side. If you still haven't found any, then they're most likely just in the middle. If you know what you're doing, 99 vitals will most likely cover two hits on the Queen. You may be able to go as low as 65 vitals for two hits, but that's risking it a little. Your priorities should be (in order): Find/extract the eggs, keeping vitals up past the death zone of 15-30, suturing, then finding/lasering the Queen. Each repetition of this should only take you around 20 seconds. If you're just aiming to pass it, use the Healing Touch after the 3rd hit on the Queen. It'll most likely go over the remaining 3 hits. For the XS: The major obstacle is the time bonus. You only have 3:20:00 (in the operation, you have to finish with more than 1:40:00 left). In general, if the Queen does 4 or more lacerations (excluding the one it does when you cut it out) before each hit, you're taking too long. You also cannot allow any eggs to hatch. It may not directly take away your bonus, but it will take time. For the chain, you just have to suture correctly enough. You can either suture in the shape of a small "N" across the center of the laceration, or make oversized zig-zags across the entire thing. Both ways work fine. ------------------ -----| 3.2. X2: Tetarti | ------------------ Time Limit: 5:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 2: Tetarti, a myriad of toxins Raitenau: Man's deep attachment to life has led to the uncontrolled advancement in medicine. Are you aware of what awaits in the end? A world of madness, where life's course is manipulated without care for the world's natural order! Is that what you doctors wish for? Derek: Is it so wrong that people want to live? We're only here to serve those who need help! - Special Bonus: No Healing Touch 100 No misses 500 Completed with 180 left 700 MAX CHAIN Over 35 700 Tetarti HP: 6 Toxic gas: 2-3 vitals/sec (rough estimate) Note that that's for one of the three bodies. - As always, there will be three diverticula there. But unlike the original, you don't have to wait for them to grow to see the colors. So take care of 'em This GUILT has gotten a serious upgrade in terms of difficulty. They move quite a bit faster, and stay white for less time. So what you have to know is just how much you need to inject, and when you can start injecting. Take the time to notice that there's 8 distinct frames in the syringe's animation. Based on what I know, the 3rd frame is just how much you need to inject. Use the Healing Touch after your 4th injection since it will only go over two. For the XS: Practice the injection on an easier Tetarti if you need to. This operation realistically only has two ranks: A and XS. Fill the syringe by the audio cues if it's easier (it was for me). When they appear, establish in your mind which colors of serum are needed, and where they are. If you can focus on just the three that are needed each time, you can spend less time looking for it and more time actually using them. ----------------- -----| 3.3. X3: Pempti | ----------------- Time Limit: 5:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 3: Pempti, the raging nightmare Raitenau: If man refuses to live in harmony with nature, then nature will eventually destroy him. That is humanity's fate! Their dreams, desires, and wishes are what ultimately bring about their destruction. Ironic, isn't it? Derek: Shut up! No matter how sinful we may be, I have faith in mankind... - Special Bonus: No Healing Touch 100 No misses 500 Completed with 30 left 700 MAX CHAIN Over 130 700 Top/Right Pempti HP: 4 Bottom/Left Pempti HP: 6 Laceration core: 8 vitals each laceration Tumor core: 5 vitals each tumor when you laser them Revolving core: Variable (increases vital spike over time even if one is left) - Skipping to when they split into two. They will always spawn 6 of any given core. This is more useful to know for the laceration cores, though, since after the sixth one, you can suture or raise vitals. The cores give you enough time to laser them before they attack, as well, so it's even easier. You don't have to be instantly on them, but you still have to be quick. The laceration cores have nothing too special about them. They should just be lasered without incident. If one happens to go by, though, it stalls a bit before sending out the next core. If you don't wanna wait until after the 6th core, go ahead and suture it. The tumor cores are important. The goal for them is to laser at least 4. Doing so will leave you with time to laser/gel the tumors and raise vitals. If you're going for the XS, purposely leave 2 cores for your chain. The revolving cores are also important. After lasering that last one, you have enough time to inject two full syringes of stabilizer. This is really useful. Since the bottom/left Pempti has 2 more HP than the other, focus your first three attacks on that one, then go back and forth between the two. If you leave one with 2+ HP when it becomes unstable, you're going to have to use the Healing Touch or restart. After one disappears, raise vitals as much as possible (4 full syringes can be injected), because you'll need it. The unstable Pempti can take as much as 60 vitals before being hit once. For the XS: The only minor problem is the chain. As stated above, the tumors can help your chain quite a bit. They only do 5 vital damage each, they give +2 to your chain each, and there's usually only 4 or 5, which isn't much vital damage, and is an extra 8-10 to your chain. The time bonus is extremely easy, it's almost impossible to miss (unless you screw up the nanomachine injections), and the Healing Touch isn't needed much unless you mess up by leaving the unstable Pempti with 2+ HP. Overall, if you can beat it, you can XS-rank it. -------------- -----| 3.4. X4: Nous| -------------- Time Limit: 5:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 4: Nous, the malignant side of wisdom Mercer: You possess the gift of the Healing Touch... yet you refuse to use it effectively. Are you content with just saving people's lives? Have you ever considered what lies beyond that? I have. I'm about to change the world! Reformation is impossible without firm belief! Derek: I don't care what vision you have for the future! I'm determined to keep saving lives! - Special Bonus: No Healing Touch 100 No misses 700 Completed with 120 left 700 MAX CHAIN Over 97 500 Nous HP: 6 Exploding tumor: 35 vitals each - Whoo, X4 is easy despite what GUILT they use for it. The only real advice for this is to just remember what order they appear. It gives you more than enough time to extract each tumor even with the 6 at the end. You can either drain/scalpel each tumor seperately, then get them all out at once, or drain/scalpel/forceps each one. Whatever works. Note that if you don't drain them in the large amount of time it gives you, they'll all explode for 35 vital damage each. For the XS: Don't miss. That's pretty much it. ---------------- -----| 3.5. X5: Bythos| ---------------- Time Limit: 5:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 5: Bythos, the profundity of the abyss Mercer: It is the Neo-GUILT--the true hands of Asclepius--that will guide us to the new age! Those incapable of symbiosis with GUILT will wither away... No one can stop this! Derek: GUILT brings us nothing but death! Your so-called "new age" is the end of mankind! - Special Bonus: No Healing Touch 100 No misses 500 Completed with 90 left 700 MAX CHAIN Over 70 700 Bythos HP: 6 Hitting a spore/shard with the core: 25 vitals Laceration: 20 vitals Laceration + Hemorrhage: 15 vitals (+15 when you cut out the hemorrhage) Hemorrhage bursting: 25 vitals - This is a major annoyance. Whenever it makes lacerations, suture them. Some people also leave them there and just gel every 2 seconds to save time. If you've worked on your suturing, however, you won't need to do this. The easiest thing to do is laser it as much as possible without bursting it, then waiting until it gets into the bottom right so it bursts near the tray. This covers up a significant majority of the spores (and some of the shards, too), making it a lot easier to extract the core. When it bursts, look at the ring of spores closest to the core. When there's an opening at that point, and you're near the tray, extract it as fast as possible. While you're waiting for the opening, raise vitals. When you're not near the tray, and your vitals are high, you can probably risk it by trying to extract the core. If it's purple or red, though, don't do it. The opening in the nearest ring of spores is almost always covered by spores in the outer rings. Another thing you can do is use two styli and "warp" the core to the tray. If you've been playing with two styli, you probably know that if you touch two seperate spots, the game will register it as you touching the spot right in the middle of those two. To warp, use one stylus to pick up the core, touch the other stylus at the tray (warping the core to the middle), then lift the first stylus (warping it to the tray). If you're seriously low on vitals, you can burst it, completely ignore it, and just use the stabilizer until it regenerates. For the XS: Again, wait until Bythos is in the bottom right area to burst it. You can allow it to regenerate once (for stabilizer, as seen above) before risking your time bonus. Letting a hemorrhage burst will break your chain, so take care of it right when it occurs. If you wanna use warping, then go for it. --------------- -----| 3.6. X6: Sige | --------------- Time Limit: 5:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 6: Sige, the dense fog of silence Mercer: No matter how advanced medicine becomes, there are always those who cannot be saved... Intractable diseases... Incurable ailments... Inescapable deaths! How many souls have you forsaken? Have you ever considered the feelings of those who lie in bed, with no hope of being cured!? If you call yourself a doctor, then treat those people right now!! Derek: I'm only human... but I'll do everything I can to save my patients! I will never give up! - Special Bonus: No Healing Touch 100 No misses 500 Completed with 120 left 700 Pus formed < 24 times 700 Sige HP: 6 Cutting out Sige: 10 vitals Sige and its clones running around: roughly 1-2 vitals/sec each Cutting out a hemorrhage: 10 vitals Hemorrhage bursting: 25 vitals - Sige is serious business. Thankfully, when you cut it out, you still have all your tools (as opposed to the earlier operation where you only have the stabilizer when you cut it out). So as soon as you do, spread gel everywhere while blowing into the mic. If you know where a hemorrhage is, fix that up instead of spreading gel. After the gas is gone, spread gel everywhere once more to temporarily stop the Sige, then drain the pus, then fix up the gas hole. If you need to raise vitals, fix up the gas hole, spread gel everywhere, use the syringe twice (the second time, Sige will start moving again, but the vital spike isn't as bad), then drain the pus it makes. Repeat if necessary (I usually raise vitals to 50, which is enough to hit Sige twice). When you gel/cut Sige, ultrasound that exact spot it went into. You'll see the shadow there every time. For the XS: The major obstacle here is the pus bonus. You can't really hesitate here. You have to know what you're going to do and waste no time in doing it. The basic pattern is: 1. When Sige appears after fixing up the initial injuries, suture the 4 lacerations as fast as possible, then ultrasound the middle until you find it. If you took more than two ultrasounds, it more than likely made a hemorrhage. 2. When you cut it out, spread gel everywhere while blowing into the mic. 3. When the gas disappears, drain the pus/blood and fix up the gas hole. 3.1. Raise vitals if necessary, draining pus every 2-3 injections. 3.2. Heal inflammations if necessary. 4. Gel/Cut Sige. 5. Ultrasound that same spot. Cut Sige out instantly before it has a chance to create a hemorrhage. Repeat five more times. After 3 hits, if you're fast enough, you can raise vitals to 60, and just rush the Sige. Skip the stabilizer, skip the pus, and just fix the gas hole each time (if you need to drain the pus to fix it, then do it). It takes about 10 seconds to go through the steps each time in this way. Your vitals only go down by 10 (+5 or so based on how much gel you spread each time you cut it out), so 3 times would only take out about 30 vitals, leaving you with a buffer of 30 more. You can't skip fixing the gas hole, though. Just the pus and stabilizer. And that's only if you're generous with the gel while you're blowing into the mic. ------------------- -----| 3.7. X7: Aletheia | ------------------- Time Limit: 10:00:00 Condition: Confidential Operation 7: Aletheia, the omniscient eye of truth Mayazumi: The new age is just over the horizon... and I'll bring about the new age of mankind! Don't we all want to be smarter, stronger, and more beautiful? The world will be populated by those who are superior. My beloved GUILT will eliminate all else... Derek: Don't give me that! GUILT won't bring happiness to anyone!! - Special Bonus: No misses 300 Completed with 240 left 600 MAX CHAIN Over 50 700 Red pipe not touched 400 Every summoned GUILT HP: 1 Aletheia HP (Phase 1): 11 full syringes Aletheia HP (Phase 2): 12 full syringes Aletheia HP (Phase 3): 13 full syringes Kyriaki lacerations: 1-2 vitals/sec each Nous green tumor: 1 vital/sec Nous green tumor explosion: 35 vitals Pempti tumors: Roughly 1.5 vitals/sec for a group of 3 tumors Sige pus: .5 vitals/sec each pus cloud Tetarti diverticula: Roughly .5 vitals/sec each polyp Tetarti diverticula gas: 3-5 vitals/sec each release Bythos hemorrhage: 1 vital/sec each Bythos hemorrhage bursting: 10-15 vitals - Do NOT use the Healing Touch until the end. I hope you know that by now. Aletheia is awesome-epic. Especially with that music. This one's probably my favorite X-operation. Every time you defeat a GUILT body, Aletheia's eye... thing... opens. You can inject the serum into it when it's like this. It also has 3 phases, like my other favorite GUILT. Phase 1: Kyriaki: Instantly laser one, inject; laser another, inject, suture. Repeat until they're all gone, then inject 3 times and suture while it summons Nous. Simple enough. Nous: When they first appear, excise the ones on the left and the top, since you have more than enough time. This leaves the ones that are closest to the scalpel, so it's a little easier to excise them in the small amount of time it gives you for that. Making the tumor explode by skipping it will break your chain. Pempti: If you've injected as much as you could (once for each GUILT body, and 3 times when it's summoning another bunch of GUILT), you won't be here. Seriously, though, you're not supposed to see Pempti throughout this entire operation. If you do, you're doing it wrong. :< Cut, cut, cut Phase 2: Sige: Gel/Scalpel/Inject/Drain (if necessary) one at a time, to maximize the serum injections. Note that cutting without gel and causing it to create pus will break your chain. If you don't have a 50 chain by the time this happens, you probably won't be able to get it later because of Bythos's hemorrhaging. Tetarti: From where they spawn, they will always go to the nearest spot counterclockwise (credit to Azn Psycho for this tip). There's not much time to notice the colors, so be sharp on this. Alternatively, the pause trick (pausing right when they show their color so you know where they're going to go) works wonders here. Kyriaki: Again, you're doing it wrong; you're not supposed to be here. :| Cut, cut, cut once more Phase 3: Bythos: This is a major obstacle. The cores by themselves (after being lasered) make hemorrhages. Injecting the serum will cause any hemorrhages to burst, breaking your chain. But if you did what I did at Nous, and didn't mess up Sige, you already have a 50 chain by that time. If your vitals are below 30, you risk being caught off guard by two or more hemorrhages, so raise vitals past 45 before proceeding. If you want to, you can use the serum for only 3 extractions of the Bythos. This may save your vitals, and may or may not take some time, depending on your work with the Sige. If you're on top of it and you don't need to use stabilizer much on the Sige, you'll be well-advised to do this. Sige: Same as the Sige before, except they're a bit more aggressive with the pus. After the second or third injection, Aletheia will be ready for cutting (if you've injected as much as possible with the Bythos), so just get rid of the Sige as fast as possible. Or, if you want, you can replace the serum with the stabilizer in the pattern. Pempti: Doing it wrong, etc. You'll have some serious trouble with this, so don't end up here. Cut, cut, cut one more time Aletheia will then reduce your vitals to 30 (if it's lower, it stays at wherever that happens to be) and go crazy, so use the Healing Touch, and finish X7. For the XS: The major obstacle is the chain. Nous from phase 1, Sige from phase 2/3, and Bythos from phase 3 all have chain breaking abilities. The easiest way to chain to 50 is to deal with the Nous. You don't need to make them explode if you take care of the ones on the left and top first. This will leave the ones that spawn on the right every other time, which are closest to the scalpel. The second easiest chain is the distance between the Nous phase (if you exploded a tumor) and the Bythos. You can chain off the pus of the Sige between them very easily if you need to. If you don't chain to 50 those two ways, you probably won't get the bonus... The minor obstacle is the time. Unless you totally screw up and touch the red pipe, though, you won't have to worry too much about it. The only risk you'll probably have for the time bonus is if you try to chain in the second manner explained above. --- After you finish X7, it'll show your rank (XS I bet), then fade to a black screen, which states the following: The threat of GUILT has ended, and so has your journey filled with peril and hardships... Your phenomenal surgical skills and indomitable spirit will be forever remembered by all. For now, rest... until the day comes that you must wield your scalpel once more. As long as there is illness in the world, the doctor's battle will carry on... --- Congratulations to you when you manage to beat all of the X-operations. ----------------- | Version History | ----------------- ------------- -----| Version 1.0 | ------------- The first version of the guide. --------- | Credits | --------- Credits go to: Nintendo: For making such a great handheld console, the Nintendo DS.
