At the invitation of Princess Peach, Mario, accompanied by party-crashers Luigi and Wario, enter the Mushroom Castle. But when the three don't come out of the castle for a long time, Yoshi decides to check up on them. Upon entering the castle, Yoshi discovers that no one is there. According to Toad, Bowser has stolen the Power Stars guarding the castle and locked Princess Peach into the walls and paintings. Maybe Mario and his friends have been captured in the paintings, too! Now it's up to Yoshi to rescue Princess Peach, Mario, Luigi, and Wario from the castle's paintings and walls!" ****************************** 3. WALKTHROUGH ****************************** ----------------------------------- Section 0: Pregame ----------------------------------- As the game begins, you see a note from Princess Peach inviting Mario to the castle to come over and have some cake. After the letter fades away, we see the Latiku cameraman doing a fly-over of the castle grounds. As he settles down to a position at the beginning of the path to the castle, a pipe comes up from the ground, and out comes Mario! After a few more seconds, two more pipes appear. Who could it be? Luigi and Wario then emerge from the pipes. After a brief "funny" moment, the trio head toward the castle. The camera then pans up revealing Yoshi sleeping on the roof of the castle. Fade to black. The picture returns showing Latiku. He tells Yoshi that Mario, Luigi, and Wario have been in the castle for awhile, and that Yoshi should go check on them. You then gain control of Yoshi. Head over the grassy hill and across the bridge. Wait, what's that? A lock on the door? When you approach the door, you get a message saying you need a key to open the door, along with a menacing laugh. Head back over the bridge. Latiku approaches you and informs you that he just saw a rabbit running off with a key, and suggests that you look at the Touch Screen to find where the rabbit is. Head over toward the shining star-key icon on the Touch Screen map. You'll arrive in a hedge maze type area. You'll see a small yellow rabbit that hops away as soon as you approach. Chase the little bugger down and get him with Yoshi's tongue. The rabbit will then rebuke you and plead with Yoshi to not eat him. Yoshi spits the rabbit out, and the rabbit gives you the key. Congratulations. Save and head over toward the castle doors. Approach the door to unlock it, and head inside. Inside, you'll receive a sinister message telling you that no one's home. Talk to the Toad on the left as soon as you enter the foyer. He'll give you the lowdown on what's going on. Basically, the Princess, Mario, Luigi, and Wario have been kidnapped by Bowser and trapped in the walls. Last Toad saw them, they were heading into the room with the Bomb-Omb painting in it to your left. Take the Toad's advice and enter the door with a blank star on it. Inside, you'll find a large, raised platform and a large painting of some Bomb-ombs. Jump into the picture to start your adventure. ----------------------------------- Section I: Bomb-Omb Battlefield ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== Just inside the castle foyer to the left, up a small flight of stairs, behind a door with a blank star on it. ==================== Course Requirements ==================== None ==================== Course Overview ==================== Basically, this course is a giant battlefield dominated by a huge mountain. The area you begin at has a few red Bomb-omb Buddies and some red blocks containing coins. There are some Goombas near a ramp up the path as well as a red ? box to the right of the ramp. Up the ramp is a flat plain containing more Goombas. To the left is Chain Chomp and his cage. Over the teeter-totter to the left is an area containing a Star Marker, some posts, trees and more Goombas. To the right or up the stairs is an area containing some hills and lots of Bomb-oms. The occasional water bomb also graces this area. In the back is another red ? block and some flowerbeds. Below the ramp that leads through the gate is a small room with a ! switch, a 1UP, and a red coin. Through the aforementioned gate is a white ramp that all the falling cannonballs roll down, and a few Bomb-ombs. Back up through the gate you'll find a pit with a few cannonballs rolling in it. This leads to the main path up the mountain. Along this path is a small area with a tree, a Bomb-omb, and a cannon. Farther up the path is a hole that some cannonballs come out of, followed by a pit. Farther up, you'll come to a Bomb-omb next to an active cannon that's shooting out water bombs. Across the next pit you'll come to a ledge with some coins and a cannon. The next ledge up has a heart and a sign on it. Almost to the top. One more cannonball hole will assault you as you finish your climb up the mountain. What you'll find at the top depends on what Star you're working on. There is also a small floating island next to the mountain with a tree, a cannon, and a ? block. ==================== Cannon Locations ==================== Bomb-omb Buddy: Talk to the Bomb-omb Buddy standing next to the cannon right by where you begin the level. 1. Right next to where you start. Note: If you choose the star "Big Bomb-Omb On The Summit", this cannon will not be available. 2. Directly beneath the floating island, to the right of Chain Chomp in the top of a large white rock. 3. In the area over the teeter totter in a white rock near the flowerbeds. 4. Up the mountain path a bit next to a Bomb-omb and a tree. 5. Further up the mountain on the second ledge. 6. On the floating island. ==================== Warp Locations ==================== 1. In the cannonball holes on the side of the mountain. They transport you between the two of them. 2. In the flowerbed to your right as you run up the wooden ramp. It transports you to another flowerbed near cannon number 3. ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Big Bomb-Omb On The Summit Requirements: None Make your way up the path and over the ramp. Carefully run past Chain Chomp and over the teeter-totter. Follow the signs and make a right, crossing over a small stone bridge. Make another right and navigate the ball pit. Head left and start your trek up the mountain proper. As soon as you come to the first cannonball hole, take the warp up to the top of the mountain. Approach King Bomb-Omb. He makes a small speech and the battle begins. Back away from the King and wait for him to throw a small Bomb-omb at you. Pick it up (or suck it in as Yoshi) and throw it (or spit, again, as Yoshi) at the King. When you land a hit on him, he will begin to bounce around. Avoid him until he stops. Three hits with his own bombs will make him surrender. Grab the Star as it emerges from his exploding body. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Footrace With Koopa the Quick Requirements: Star 1 complete, plus Mario, or a Mario cap When you enter the course, you'll likely spot Koopa the Quick ahead on your right. If you're Mario, he'll challenge you to a race right away. If you're any other character, he'll ask you to go find Mario. You'll need to grab one of the two Mario caps provided for you. Head up the wooden ramp towards the cap shown on your Touch Screen and you'll find a Goomba wearing it. Stomp him, and take the cap. Anyway, when you talk to Koopa as or under the guise of Mario, select "Go!" to start the race. The best course of action is to take the same route outlined in the previous star: Up the ramp, over the teeter-totter, and up the mountain. However, it is imperative that you DO NOT use the warp. If you do, Koopa will accuse you of cheating. If you keep a leisurely pace and to not follow Koopa, you should easily make it to the summit before him. If you lose your cap on the way up, grab it quickly or grab the other cap as you're making your way up the mountain. When you make it to the top before Koopa, he'll reluctantly award you his star. Better luck next time, Koopa. Note: If you lose to Koopa, you'll have to exit the course to try again. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: 5 Silver Stars! Requirements: Star 2 complete SS 1: From the start, head right towards the path past the Star Sphere. To the left of the path is a tree. Climb up to the top of the tree and dismount to collect the first Silver Star. SS 2: Head up the wooden ramp. You'll see Chain Chomp bouncing around in the area with the second Silver Star at the end of his leash. Carefully navigate behind him and grab it. SS 3: Make your way over the teeter-totter and make a left. The Goomba on the left has the third Silver Star. Stop him and grab it. SS 4: Jump up the ledge and go straight past the ? block. The Silver Star in bouncing in the second flowerbed. SS 5: Go right from the fourth star and head over the white stone bridge. Go through the ball pit and star up the mountain. The last Silver Star is in the possession of the second Goomba you see. Stomp him and grab it. Power Star: Head back towards the Star Sphere marked on your Touch Screen near the beginning of the level and grab the star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Big Bomb-Omb's Revenge Requirements: Star 3 completed, plus Mario or Mario cap. This is simply a rematch with the King Bomb-omb, but his time he doesn't throw bombs, so you'll have to grab the Mario cap on the Goomba on the first ledge up the mountain. When you get to the top, simply run behind the King, pick him up, and throw him three times to get the Star ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Mario Wings to the Sky Requirements: None, but Mario or Mario Cap and ? switch activated strongly recommended. This Star is next-to-impossible to complete without Mario and the ? block, so I won't go into how to do it. Anyway, grab a feather from the ? block to the left of the wooden ramp and go into the cannon near the start. Shoot up onto the mountain and go into the cannon there. From that cannon, shoot over onto the floating island and land by grabbing onto the tree. Grab another feather from the ? block up there and jump into the cannon. Ok. Now, see all those rings of coins with a coin in the middle of each? Well, what you need to do is get the middle coin out of all five of those coin rings. Shoot out of the cannon and guide Mario to all 5 coins. It will definitely take some practice to get, but keep working at it and you'll get it eventually get them. Don't forget to land and grab another feather every minute or so. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Find the 8 Red Coins Requirements: None Red Coin 1: From the start, head down the path towards the wooden ramp, but go to the elevator instead of over the bridge. The first coin is floating above the elevator. Red Coin 2: Ride up the elevator and head toward the large white rock to the left of Chain Chomp's cage. The coin is on top of the rock. Red Coin 3: From the rock, head right to Chain Chomp. The coin is on top of the post Chomp is leashed to. (Oh joy) Red Coin 4: Head over the teeter-totter and make a left. Coin four is right next to the Star Marker. Red Coin 5: The coin is right next to Red Coin four. Red Coin 6: Jump up the ledge and head across the plain to the stone bridge. Enter the niche below to the left to find the sixth Red Coin. Red Coin 7: Head up the ramp from Coin six and cross over the top of the stone ledge. Instead of going through the ball pit, approach the large grassy hill and dash up it to collect Red Coin seven. Red Coin 8: After you reach the top of the slope where you collected coin seven, do a U-turn and head up the mountain until you come to the cannon. Shoot over to the floating island and collect the Red Coin over the tree. Power Star: Simply jump in the cannon and shoot towards the Star Marker on your Touch Screen and collect the Power Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Behind Chain-Chomp's Gate Requirements: None This Star is easy. Simply head up over the wooden ramp to Chain Chomp. Pound the stake he is leashed to three times to free him, and he'll thank you by breaking open the cage holding the Star prisoner. ALTERNATE METHOD: If you have unlocked Luigi, grab a Power Flower from the ? block to the right of the wooden lamp and simply run through the bars of the cage and grab the star. ----------------------------------- Section II: Whomp's Fortress ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the castle front doors, make a right. You'll see a light brown door in the side of the wall with a star on it. There is a red "1" inside of the star. The course is in the painting in this room. ==================== Course Requirements ==================== 1 Power Star ==================== Course Overview ==================== You begin in a small grassy area at the foot of a gigantic fortress. If you climb all the way up the tree right next to where you start, a small brown owl will fly out and offer to take you to the top of the fortress. Continuing along the grassy area, you come to a Piranha Plant sleeping in a flowerbed. Around the corner to the left are two posts, a Star Marker, two Goombas, and two flowerbeds, one surrounded by coins. Over the fence is a red block tucked away in between who brown pillars that conceals this level's Star Switch. Further ahead is another Piranha Plant and another red block. Around the corner is a pit. On the other side is a small ledge with three red blocks and a Bullet Bill launcher in front of it. Further ahead are two flowerbeds concealing three, count 'em, three Piranha Plants. Around the _next_ corner is this level's Star Sphere and a fence leading over to a stone area with a few Goombas. Up the ramp is a small area with a few coins and the level's only cannon. After that is a small water filled area with a few coin rings. Down the ledge to the right is the starting point. Up the small ramp in front of the starting point are some blocks that come out of the wall and try to push you off to the ground below. Ahead of those are some sections of the ground that will slide out from under you making you fall as well. Past those is a small area containing a red ? block, a red brick block and a giant grey Thwomp. Under the Thwomp and up the stairs is another small area containing a ramp back down the the watery area and some stairs leading further up to a sleeping Piranha Plant. To the left is a collapsing bridge, which in turn leads to a small wooden bridge. On the other side is a rotating platform. Across that lies a wide large stone path circling around the fortress that ends at an elevator. Up the elevator is the top. What you'll find here depends on what Star you are currently completing. If you're doing the "Chip Off Whomp's Block" Star, you'll find the gigantic King Whomp. If you're doing any other star, you'll find a smaller tower with moving bricks placed around its exterior. If the smaller tower is present on the top of the fortress, then a wooden plank will be standing up in one of the corners of the top of the large part of the fortress. If you kick this down, you will gain access to a few floating islands containing some coins. ==================== Cannon Locations ==================== Bomb-omb Buddy: If you have the "Shoot Into the Wild Blue" Star active, the Bomb-omb Buddy will appear right next to the cannon. To get there from the start, jump up onto the small ledge in front of you, and backflip up to the top of the stone wall. Run across the watery area and the Bomb-omb Buddy will be right there. 1. Right next to the Bomb-omb Buddy who is across the watery area from the start. ==================== Warp Locations ==================== None ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Chip Off Whomp's Block Requirements: None From the start, jump up onto the ledge in front of you and backflip up to the top of the stone wall. Run up the stone ramp to the top and make a left. Run past the Piranha Plant and across the collapsing bridge. make your way over the small wooden bridge and across the rotating bridge to the other side. Make a right and follow the wide stone path past two small Whomps to the elevator at the end. Jump onto the elevator and take it to the top to meet King Whomp. He makes a small speech about how Mario doesn't appreciate the work he and his subjects do for Mario, blah blah blah. When the battle begins, wait for Whomp to jump and quickly run out from under him and go behind his prone body. Jump onto his back and do a ground pound. Whomp will then get up. Repeat this process twice to make Whomp throw in the towel. He will apologize to Mario and explode, leaving behind his Power Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: To the Top of the Fortress Requirements: Star 1 completed This Power Star is relatively easy to obtain. Simply follow the same path as you did to get to Whomp. When you get to the top, instead of seeing Whomp, a smaller tower has appeared on the top of the fortress. Carefully jump up the sliding blocks around the tower until you get to the last one, which will give you a nice smooth ride to the very tip-top of the tower. Up here you will find your Star ripe for the picking. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Shoot into the Wild Blue Requirements: Star 2 completed From the start, jump up the short ledge and backflip to the top of the stone wall. Run across the shallow water to the waiting Bomb-omb Buddy. Once the cannon is open, jump in. Aim down and to the left so you see a small hanging area with a flagpole on the top of it. Aim your cannon so that the bottom of the middle and farthest pillar is just touching the bottom of your line of sight. If performed correctly, you will fly out of the cannon, hit the pillar, and fall safely to the bottom of the small platform. From here, simply slide down the pole to the area below and collect your Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Red Coins of the Floating Isle Requirements: Star 1 completed Red Coin 1: From the start, jump up the small ledge and run up the brown ramp. Floating above the middle moving brick is the first coin. Red Coin 2: From Coin 1, jump over the pits and climb the stairs. Jump from a higher step onto the top of the second Thwomp, wait for it to rise, and grab the next coin. Red Coin 3: Jump off of the Thwomp and go back down the stairs. Jump over the fence to the ground below. Make a left and jump over the pit and up the ledge. Now, walk slowly and kill the three Piranha Plants in the two flowerbeds ahead, and grab the third coin. Red Coin 4: From the third coin, make a left and jump over the pit and the fence. Run up the ramp, make a left, and go through the water. Run up the next stone ramp and make a left. Run quickly behind the sleeping Piranha Plant to nab the fourth coin. Red Coin 5: Keep going left past the Piranha Plant and you see the coin sitting on a skinny ledge. Red Coin 6: After you get coin 5, kill the Piranha Plant and run onto the spinning platform. Walk onto it, then wait for it to face the opposite side. When it does, quickly run to the end of the platform, so you'll catch coin number six as you pass by. Red Coin 7: From coin 6, make your way to the top of the fortress. In one corner, a long wooden board will be standing upright. Kick it down and cross it to grab the seventh coin. Red Coin 8: From the floating platform where you grabbed coin seven, jump across the three spinning grassy platforms to grab the last coin. Power Star: From the floating island that coin eight was on, simply long jump in the direction of the star on your Touch Screen. You should land safely a few feet in front of the Star Marker. Grab the Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Fall onto the Caged Island Requirements: Star 2 completed. Jump into the tree right near where you start and climb to the top. An owl will appear. After he is done talking, jump and hold B to have him take you high up in the sky. Simply guide the own above the island marked by a star on your Touch Screen, and let go of B. You will fall onto the island and be able to grab the Star, ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Blast Away the Wall Requirements: Star 2 completed From the start, jump up the small ledge and backflip to the top of the stone wall. Run across the shallow water and jump into the cannon. Aim the cannon right until you see two corners with a red coin between them. Position the cannon so that the corner of the farther wall is in the middle of your crosshairs. Fire. You will shoot out and blast away the corner of the wall, revealing a Star. From where you landed in the water, run up the stone ramp, go left past the Piranha Plant, go over the collapsing bridge and the small wooden bridge after it to grab your Star. Note: You can also try to shoot out of the cannon again to claim your Star, but this is very tricky and will more often than not get you killed unless you are a marksman or just plain lucky. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Switch Star of the Fortress Requirements: Mario or Mario cap From where you begin, head around the corner, go past the Goombas, and jump over the fence. In between the first two brown pillars is a red brick. Break it with a punch. (If you need a Mario cap, the Goomba right next to the switch has one.) Once you hit the switch, a Star will appear in the Star Sphere, and a timer will begin to tick. Go! Run left and jump over the pit. Make a left past the Piranha Plant and jump over the next pit and up the small ledge. Run through the stakes, and make a final left past the three Piranha plants. Jump the final pit and jump into the Star Sphere to smash it and grab your well earned Star. ----------------------------------- Section III: Jolly Roger Bay ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the main castle entrance, head right and go up the small flight of stairs directly opposite the stairs that lead to Bomb-omb Battlefield. The course is behind the three star door up the stairs. ==================== Course Requirements ==================== 3 Power Stars ==================== Course Overview ==================== Welcome to Jolly Roger Bay. This course is mostly water, with a few islands and dry spots here and there. You start on a small patch of land with a few Goombas, some red bricks, and a blue coin switch. Heading out into the water and swimming right will lead to a small wooden platform in the water. From one side you can reach the Bomb-Omb buddy for this level, and from the other side you can jump up to a platform with a ! switch that places block is between the floating wooden platforms that will lead to the ship when you raise it up from the sea floor. The sea floor gets very deep here, and at the bottom you'll find quite a few coins and a vortex or sunken ship depending on how you have progressed. A small tunnel in the wall of the trench leads to a cave containing this level's Switch Star, and a great deal of falling blocks. ==================== Cannon Locations ==================== Bomb-Omb Buddy: From the start, head out into the water and swim right to the floating piece of wood. Jump onto it and then onto the platform to the right where the Bomb-Omb Buddy is waiting. NOTE: You must have completed Star 1 for the Bomb-Omb Buddy to appear. 1. In the large white rock right in front of where you start. ==================== Warp Locations ==================== None ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Plunder in the Sunken Ship Requirements: None From the beginning, make your way forward and swim until the sea floor drops. Come up for air and dive all the way down towards the bottom. Head towards the sunken ship resting on the sea floor. There is a window with an eel in it towards the stern of the ship on the deck. Swim near the eel to lure him out of the hole, and swim in after his egress. You will appear in a large water filled room. Swim down to a treasure chest on the floor. Open it and quickly turn around and swim toward the rapidly descending water flowing down a sloped wall with many little platforms on it. If you swim fast enough, you should be able to get yourself onto one of the higher platforms before the water completely recedes. From the place where you surfaced, carefully jump from platform to platform or crawl up the wall itself to the top platform. Break open the ! block there and collect the Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Can the Ell Come Out to Play? Requirements: Star 1 completed From the start, swim straight ahead to the deep portion of the sea. Dive down, and in the far wall you will see an eel with his head sticking out of the wall. Swim past him to lure him out of his hole. As he swims past, you will probably notice the Power Star on his tail. Keeping an eye on your Power meter, carefully manuver behind him and touch the Star on his tail. It may take some practice. After touching it, the Star will some a few feet away nearer to the eel's hole. Swim over and nab it. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Treasure in the Ocean Cave Requirements: None From the start, swim straight to the deep portion of the sea. Dive down and enter the tunnel in the wall. At the end of the tunnel, you will be emptied out into a large cave. Make a left and run through the cave, dodging the falling bricks as you go. You will come to four chests on a raised platform. Stand in front of the front chest (DON'T TOUCH IT!) and open them in this order Rear, Left, Right, Front Grab the Star that emerges from the last chest and you're outta here. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Blast to the Stone Pillar. Requirements: Star 1 competed. From the start, enter the cannon in the rock ahead of you. If it is not open, see above for how to open it. Once in the cannon, aim the cannon down and right until you see three spikey rocks. Aim at the leftmost one, and position the cannon so that the leftmost spike is in the center, and that just about half an inch of the tree scenery in the background is showing at the bottom. Fire, and you should grab hold of the spike. Position yourself so that your back is facing the platform with the Star to your left, jump, and nab the Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Red Coins on the Ship Afloat Requirements: Star 1 completed. Red Coin 1: From the start, enter the water and dive to the bottom. The first coin is in the mouth of the nearest clam to the shore. Approach and wait for it to open, then grab the coin. Red Coin 2: From the previous coin, swim up and left to the area with the floating wooden board. The coin is in another clam in front of the wooden board. Red Coin 3: From coin two, jump up onto the floating wooden platform onto the stone ledge with the Bomb-Omb Buddy on it. The coin is floating over the top of the spike next to the platform. Red Coin 4: From coin three, swim forward and down to the ledge separating the shallow water from the trench. The coin is inside yet another clam situated on the ledge. Red Coin 5: Swim down into the trench. The coin is in the mouth of the only clam on the sea floor. Red Coin 6: Swim from the trench back up to the floating wooden platform. This time, jump onto the stone ledge on the left. Press the ! switch and navigate onto the deck of the ship. The next coin is floating above the bow (front) of the ship. Wait for the ship to rise, then nab it. Red Coins 7 and 8: From the last coin, simply jump up onto the stern of the ship. The two coins are floating above the stern. Wait for the ship to rise and grab them. Power Star: The Power Star appears right next to the two coins you just collected. That was easy ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Switch Star of the Bay Requirements: Luigi rescued From the start, swim down into the ocean trench. Collect the Luigi cap on the far side of the trench (if needed) and make your way through the tunnel and into the cave. Head straight and grab the Power Flower out of the ? block to make Luigi invisible. Run towards the other end of the cave, sticking to the right wall. You'll see a Star Switch. Step on it, and continue your sprint to the other end of the cave. Once there, dash into the cage and smash the Star Sphere to collect the Power Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Through the Jet Stream Requirements: Wario rescued From the start, make your way straight to the trench, dive down, and enter the underwater cave. Head left and grab the Wario cap (if needed), then grab the Power Flower from the ? box. Quickly run back through the tunnel to the trench and enter the jet stream containing the Star, and grab it. ----------------------------------- Section IV: Cool, Cool Mountain ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the main castle entrance, head left and enter the brown door with a "3" in a Star on it. The course is in the middle painting in the next room. ==================== Course Requirements ==================== 3 Power Stars ==================== Course Overview ==================== Unlike most other levels involving a mountain, you begin at the top of the mountain in this level. Ahead of you as you begin is a small wooden cottage with a large chimney on top that you can jump into. Above the cottage is a small ledge with a baby penguin and a Red Coin encased in a block of ice. To the left is a small ledge with a fire on it, and further down is a small wooden area with a small pedestal on it. To the right is a slope that you can slide down that leads all the way down to another area lower on the mountain. In this area, there is a gigantic snowman head on a pedestal and some red bricks. ==================== Cannon Locations ==================== Bomb-Omb Buddy: From the start, head down the chimney and go down the slide. After you emerge from the bottom, head left and step on the small wooden elevator. About halfway up, you'll see a small floating island with the Bomb-Omb Buddy on it. Jump off on the elevator to the island. 1. At the bottom of the wooden elevator, near a tree with a Red Coin over it. 2. Near the giant snowman in between two trees next to the wooden elevator. ==================== Warp Locations ==================== 1. From the start, head right and you will come to a broken wooden bridge. Stand still at the end of the bridge, and you will be transported to another broken bridge at the bottom of the mountain near the Mama penguin. Stand on the edge of this broken bridge to be warped back up to the top of the mountain. ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Slip Slidin' Away Requirements: None From the start, head forward and jump into the chimney of the cottage. Once inside, you will find yourself at the top of a very large ice slide. After you go around the second turn, you will see a line of coins heading towards the wall. Follow them to go through the wall and take a safe shortcut to the bottom of the slide. Once at the bottom, exit through the door. The Star will appear in front of you outside. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Li'l Penguin Lost Requirements: Mario unlocked or Mario cap Jump up onto the roof of the cottage and from there onto the ledge above. Here you will find a small penguin. Only Mario, Luigi, and Wario can pick things up, so if you're Yoshi, you may need to look for the nearest cap on your Touch Screen. Anyway, once you are able to pick things up, head back to the ledge home to the small penguin and pick him up. Head left and take the icy slope to its bottom. Once there, head towards the big snowman head and cross the wooden bridge beyond it, avoiding the jumping snowmen. Once you're on the other side, jump off of the ledge down to where the mother is below. Jump out of the snow, pick the penguin up, and bring it to its mother. She will thank you and reward you with a Power Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Big Penguin Race Requirements: Star 2 completed Jump down the chimney of the cottage, and this time there will be a large penguin at the top of the slide. If you approach, he'll challenge you to a race. Accept, and the race begins. Take off after him and carefully but quickly making your way to the bottom of the slide. Do _NOT_ take the shortcut, because the penguin will accuse you of cheating if you do. Once you defeat him, he'll cough up the Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Frost Slide for Eight Red Coins Requirements: Yoshi Red Coin 1: From the start, jump up to the ledge above the cottage and make a left. Jump down to the small ledge containing the campfire. Suck in the fire, jump back up to the ledge with the penguin on it, and breathe fire on the block of ice encasing the Red Coin. Red Coin 2: Jump down to the area in front of the cottage, and take the warp bridge to the bottom. Head left and grab the coin. Red Coin 3: Head over to the front of the cottage and you'll see the third coin floating above the tree next to the cannon. Red Coin 4: Step onto the wooden elevator and ride it to the top. The fourth coin will be there waiting for you. Red Coin 5: Jump up the small ledge and run past the snowman's head hugging the wall to the right. You'll find the red coin tucked away there along with a Bomb-Omb Buddy. Red Coin 6: From the last coin, run back past the snowman's head again and head over the wooden bridge. When you come to the end, you'll spy the coin spinning on the broken bridge ahead on your left. Red Coin 7: Jump off of the broken bridge where coin 6 was and land in the area with the Mama penguin. Take the warp bridge to the top. Now, you must be very careful when attempting this next part. Stand on the edge of the bridge and look down. You'll see an area with a yellow ! block and some ice cubes. CAREFULLY jump off of the bridge and land down there. Grab some fire from the campfire and melt the ice to grab coin number seven. Red Coin 8: Jump off of the ledge and cross the bridge to get back to the Mama penguin area. Head past the entrance to the warp bridge and look around the stone corner to find the well hidden last coin. Power Star: Take the wooden path to the right of the cottage up to the bridge with the two snowmen on it. Turn around, and long jump across the broken bridge to collect your Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Snowman's Lost His Head Requirements: Star 4 completed From the start, jump up to the ledge above the cottage and head left. Drop down two ledges to where you see a snowball sitting on a pedestal. Approach it, and it will offer to follow you to the bottom of the mountain to the snowman's head. Take off down the slope and follow it to the bottom. Quickly run behind the snowman's head, and the giant snowball will follow you around the corner and come crashing into the head, making a body for the snowman. He will thank you and give you the Star. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Mario's Super Wall Kick Requirements: Mario rescued or Mario cap. From the start, take the warp bridge to the bottom of the mountain. Head past the cottage and jump into the cannon. Aim all the way down until you can see a ledge with a tree on it off in the distance. Position the cannon so that the bottom of the tree is resting on the bottom of your line of sight. Fire. Jump off of the tree and head right. Long jump across the pit. Jump up onto the ledge and run to the wall at the end. Backflip up to the sloped platform above. Now, here's the tricky part: You need to run up the slope and time your jumps so that your double jump takes you off of the edge of the slope and up into the flat portion of the wall above, and wall kick off of the wall onto the ledge above. This may take some practice. Once you're up on ledge, walk carefully across the ice to the Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Switch Star of Cool, Cool Mountain Requirements: Wario rescued From the start, take the warp bridge to the bottom. Take the wooden elevator up to its top stop. Now, jump off and then back onto the elevator to start the ride back down. As you are going down, carefully jump to the small floating island with the Star Switch on it. Hit the switch, and catch the elevator as it makes its way back town. Jump off at the bottom and run over to the large patch of ice. Ground pound to break the ice and smash the Star Sphere. ----------------------------------- Section V: Big Boo's Haunt ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the main entrance, head through one of the two dark brown doors on either side of the main staircase. Once inside, you'll see a large ghost. Follow it to the castle courtyard. Go through the door and head right to a grassy area. Look carefully for a ghost, which appears to have a little cage in it. This Star has you running around the mansion proper trying to find and kill 5 small Boos. Boos 1 & 2: From the start, run around the left side on the mansion. When you come to the back of the building, turn right and you will see a small ledge with a door on it. Enter, and inside are two Boos. Boo 3: Run back around to the front of the mansion and enter through the front doors. Inside, head to the left door on the far wall. Enter, and kill the Boo inside. Boo 4: Exit the room and enter the door on the right side of the far wall. Inside, run across the collapsing bridge and defeat the Boo you find on the other side. Boo 5: Continue through the door on the other side of the bridge and into the next room. The last Boo is on the middle platform in the room. Power Star: When you kill all 5 Boos, you'll get a message saying that the Master of Mischief, the Titan of Terror, the Big Boo himself has arrived. Head back out to the main room of the mansion to find him. Hit him three times to raise the stairs to the second floor and grab the Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Ride Big Boo's Merry-go-Round Requirements: Star 1 completed From the start, head left and enter the small shack on your left. Once inside, jump on the elevator and ride it down. Once inside, run down the hallway and enter a door that leads to another hallway. Follow it to the main room. Inside, head left, then make a right. Take the door on your left. Welcome to the merry-go-round. Here you must once again defeat 5 small Boos to summon the Big Boo. Defeat Big Boo and grab the Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Secret of the Haunted Books Requirements: Star 1 completed Enter the mansion and take the stairs to the second floor. Make a left and take the right door on the left wall (Confusing, isn't it?). Once inside, long jump down the row of books to avoid the flying books that pop out and harm you. When you reach the dead-end, you'll see three books sticking out of the case. Jump into them in this order: Top, Right, Left The bookcase will slide back revealing a door. Enter and grab the Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Seek the 8 Red Coins Requirements: Mario or Mario cap, Star 1 completed, ? Switch pressed Red Coin 1: Enter the mansion and go through the left-most door. The first coin is tucked away behind the ferocious piano. Red Coins 2 and 3: Exit through the other door in the piano room to enter a small library. Be wary of the monstrous books as you jump on top of the bookcases to collect coins two and three. Red Coin 4: From the main room in the mansion, enter the door on the right wall and retrieve the coin from the center platform. Red Coin 5: Head upstairs and enter the door on the left side of the back wall. Jump across the pit in the middle of the mesh and collect the coin. Red Coin 6: Enter the door on the right side of the back wall. Retrieve the sixth coin from under the coffin in the front on the left. Red Coin 7: Enter the door on the right wall of the second floor and head around the corner. Be wary of the hole in the floor as you collect the seventh coin. Red Coin 8: Exit through the door right by where you found coin seven. Hit the ? block and grab the Power Flower to blow up. Float over to the coin waiting near the ceiling. Power Star: Keep floating over to the balcony to the left where the Star is in plain sight. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Big Boo's Balcony. Requirements: Star 1 completed Enter the mansion and ascend to the second floor. Enter the rightmost door. Inside, jump on top of the ? block in the corner, and long jump over to the hidden balcony above where you came in. Welcome to the third floor. From here, go through the door on your right to exit the mansion onto the balcony. Here, you'll have to fight Big Boo yet again for your third Star from him. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Eye to Eye in the Secret Room Requirements: Luigi rescued, ? Switch pressed, Star 1 completed Head into the mansion and ascend to the second floor. Head through the rightmost door. As Luigi, grab the Power Flower and backflip up to the secret ledge. Enter the door and run towards the camera and make a left. Run through the picture of Boo here. Inside, defeat the giant eyeball to gain his Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Switch Star in the Basement Requirements: Wario rescued From the start, turn left and enter the shack, taking the elevator down to the room surrounding the carousel. Grab the Wario cap here and use Wario to break the black bricks covering the Star Switch. Run into the carousel and get hit by a Boo to ditch the cap. Then, head back to the previous room and hit the switch. Dash around to the other side of the room to grab the Star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: The following four courses require that you have defeated Bowser in the Dark World ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- Section VI: Hazy Maze Cave ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the main castle entrance, head through one of the dark wooden doors on either side of the staircase. Head down the long flight of stairs and enter the door. Follow the curved hallway right and go through the door. Make a right, a left, a right, and finally another left. You will end up in front of a door with a Star on it up on a ledge. Go through the door. Head right, then left, and run up the slope that the giant boulders are rolling down. Go right and enter the door. Take the elevator in the floor in front of you to the bottom. Follow the path into the water. Swimming around in this lake is a giant Nessie-type creature. Swim over towards it and jump onto its back. Do a ground pound to make it lower its head, and grab the Wario cap off of its head. As Wario, swim to the island in the middle of the lake, punch the boulder, and grab the Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Elevate for 8 Red Coins Requirements: None From the start, head down the right hand path and enter the door at the end. Slide down the pole. Welcome to the Work Room. Head right and jump up the grassy stairs to reach the Work Elevator. You're going to have to operate this device if you want to collect all of the coins. Basically, to make the Work Elevator move, you have to step on one of the four arrows to make the Elevator move in that direction. The Work Elevator will continue to move in the pressed direction until it can no longer progress or you step on another arrow. NOTE: For clarity of this part of the walkthrough, I have designated a front and back of the Work Elevator room. The side of the room containing the Star Sphere and the Work Elevator I have called the front, and the opposite side is the rear. Red Coin 1: Step onto the Work Elevator and move it in the direction of the opposite ledge with the Star Sphere on it. Once it stops, step on the arrow pointing right towards the rest of the room and the central platform. As the Elevator moves by, punch the first set of red bricks you come to free the first Coin. Red Coin 2: Maneuver the Elevator into the central platform. Guide the Elevator into the next set of red bricks next to the central platform. Break them apart and grab the second Coin. Red Coin 3: Keep the elevator moving towards the rear wall until you collide with the wall. Move the Elevator towards the triangular ledge in the far corner to collect Coin three.
Red Coin 4: Jump off of the Elevator and make your way back to the place up the grassy stairs where the Work Elevator spawns. Long jump across to the ledge containing the Star Sphere and climb up the purple pole. At the top, jump off of the pole onto the ledge. Walk onto the green-checkered elevator. It will begin following its preset path along the room. When you get to the set of red bricks, punch it to reveal your next Coin. Red Coin 5: Stay on the elevator and collect the Coin floating along the elevator's path. Red Coin 6: As the elevator passes under a small bridge of floating land, jump over it to obtain Coin six. Red Coins 7 and 8: Stay on the elevator until it pulls alongside a long floating platform. Jump off and collect the final two coins. Power Star: Jump to the ground (Make sure you ground pound before you hit so you won't take damage) and head over to the Star Marker in the middle of the room and take your reward. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Metal-Head Wario Can Move Requirements: ? Switch pressed, Wario rescued (Optional; see alternate strategy below) From the beginning, take Wario down the right hand path and enter the door at the end. Slide down the red pole and enter the hallway in front of you. Go down the hallway and ride the elevator up to the next floor. Exit through the door here and proceed through the next room. Head over to the slope with the falling rocks and run to the top. Enter the door on your right and ride the elevator to the bottom. Break the ? block at the bottom and grab the Power Flower. Quickly run down the light brown path and follow it underwater. Step on the ! switch at the end and quickly go through the door behind t he newly opened gate. Inside the Abandoned Mine, carefully long jump across the pits and grab the Star. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: This Star can be obtained before rescuing Wario. To do so, follow this next set of instructions. When you first enter the course, select the first Star from the menu, Swimming Beast in the Cavern. Follow the set of instructions above to get to the underground lake. Once there, retrieve the Wario cap from the swimming beast. Once you acquire the cap, run up the slope and break the ? block to grab the Power Flower. Then, follow the instructions presented above to obtain the Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Navigating the Toxic Maze Requirements: None From the start, head down the rightmost path and enter the door at the end. Slide down the red pole and go up the small slope in the wall to the left. Enter the door. In the next room, fall through the hole in the floor. Quickly head up the slope to get out of the poison gas. Head straight towards the ? block and make a right. Make a left around the u-bend and make a right around the next u-bend. Place your back to the middle of the wall to your left, so you are just to the left of the pit in the floor. Backflip up to the ledge above you and enter the door. Follow the hallway to the end and ride the elevator up to your Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: A-Maze-Ing Emergency Exit Requirements: None From the start, head down the rightmost path and enter the door at the end. Slide down the red pole and go up the small slope in the wall to the left. Enter the door. In the next room, fall through the hole in the floor. Quickly head up the slope to get out of the poison gas. Head straight towards the ? block and make a right. Make a left around the u-bend. Stand with your back to the wall opposite the next u-bend and backflip up to the ledge above you. Enter the door. Follow the curving hallway to the end and ride the elevator up. Grab onto the cage above you and go and-over-hand over to the Star. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Watch for Falling Rocks Requirements: Wario rescued From the beginning, head down the right-hand path and enter the door at the end. Slide down the pole and enter the hallway at the bottom. Follow it to the door at the end. Run across the slope with the falling boulders to the other gate-like floor on the other side. Smash the black bricks and grab the mushroom that appears. Run towards the slope with the rocks, and run into and smash three of them to make the Star appear further up the slope. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Underground Switch Star Requirements: Wario rescued From the beginning, head down the right path, grabbing the Wario cap if you aren't already him. Enter the door at the end of the tunnel and slide down the pole. Go to the far right corner of this large room and smash the black bricks in the corner that are concealing the Star Switch. Ditch the Wario cap by grabbing the nearby Luigi cap (Or just grab it as Wario to transform), and hit the Star Switch. Run towards the front of the room and the Work Elevator. Triple jump up to the top of the stairs and turn right. Long jump from the Work Elevator over the gap and smash the Star Sphere. ----------------------------------- Section VII: Lethal Lava Land ----------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the main castle entrance, head through one of the dark wooden doors on either side of the staircase. Head down the long flight of stairs and enter the door. Follow the curved hallway right and go through the door. Make a right, then a left. You'll see a large painting of a fiery face down the hall. Head left through the arch and make another left at the next intersection. Cross the raising bridge and go past the eyeball. Head down the small ramp and jump onto the sinking platform. Head across the sinking platform and jump onto the Bowser puzzle. Carefully cross to the other side of the puzzle and head up the small ramp. Go down the path and carefully jump onto the spinning platform with flames circling around it. Head around the left side (with the flames and against the platform's motion) and jump off onto the wooden platform on the other side. From there, it's just a short run across a sinking platform onto the raised podium with the Big Bully in it. To defeat the Big Bully, you'll need to knock him off of the edge of the platform into the lava. To do this, jump on top of him when he charges you. He will be knocked back in the direction you are facing. Repeat this process until you knock him into the lava. Carefully head up the collapsing platforms to the podium that holds your Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Bully the Bullies Requirements: None More Bullies! From the beginning, head down the platform and long jump across the gap. Head left through the arch, and make a right at the next intersection. Head down the small ramp and jump onto the tilting platforms. From there, jump to the sinking platforms, and from there to the stone platform. Follow it to its end and jump onto the four square sinking platforms. Then, jump onto the raised wooden podium holding three small Bullies. Defeat them by jumping on their heads to knock them into the lava. Just when you've killed all three and think it's over, the Big Bully returns! Well, you know the drill. Jump on his head and knock him into the lava. When it's all said and done, grab your Star and get the hell outta here. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: 8-Coin Puzzle with 15 Pieces Requirements: None Red Coins 1-8: This is by far the easiest Star in the game to obtain. From the start, head down the platform and long jump the gap. Go through the arch and make a left at the intersection. Head over the bridge and past the eyeball. Jump onto the sinking platform and from there to the shifting puzzle. All eight coins are floating above the puzzle. Collect them. Power Star: Uhhh..... Duh? ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Red-Hot Log Rolling Requirements: None From the start, head down the platform and long jump the gap. Head through the arch and make a right at the intersection. Go down the ramp and onto the tilting platforms. From here, jump onto the nearest sinking platform and from there onto the small ramp leading to a platform with some Bullies. There is a small grate-like platform on the right side of the platform. Jump on it and ride it to another platform further right, avoiding the flames. Jump quickly from the wire platform and off of the white stone platform before it sinks. Head up the small ramp to a giant log. Jump onto the left side of the log and run against the rolling motion to keep rolling to the other side of the track. Jump off and head down the ramp to claim your Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Hot-Foot-It Into the Volcano. Requirements: None From the start, long jump across the gap and hit the ! block past the arch. Grab the Shiny Shell and ride it around the platforms and jump up into the volcano. Inside the volcano, head right over a black platform until you come to a ledge attached to the wall. Run up this ledge, and be sure to avoid the flames that shoot out of the wall. Be careful as you pass the ledge after the Bully, because a large section of the wall right before the next ledge will drop down and try to crush you. Wait for it to drop, then jump up onto the ledge. Follow the coins and jump across the small platforms to yet another ledge sticking out of the wall. Run past the flames and past the next Bully. Walk carefully across the ledge in front of the lava fall, and jump onto the pole on the next platform. Climb up the pole (Do not stand up at the top) and position your back towards the next pole. Jump. Follow the same directions to jump from this last pole to the platform containing the Star. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Inside the Volcano Requirements: None From the start, long jump across the gap and hit the ! block past the arch. Grab the Shiny Shell and ride it around the platforms and jump up into the volcano. Inside the volcano, head left and jump over the lava and across the three black platforms. Jump on the small elevator at the end. Ride on the elevator as it follows its path, and jump off onto the next elevator as you come to it. Jump from this elevator onto the pole farther ahead as you pass it. Climb up all the way to the top of the pole and place your back towards the next pole. Jump and you will grab onto the second pole. Climb to the top of this pole, and carefully jump off onto the small platform. Hop over the next two floating platforms and grab the Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Flaming Silver Stars Requirements: Star 6 completed From the start, head down the platform and long jump over the gap. Head past the arch and grab the shell out of the ! block. SS 1: From the platform where you got the shell, go in between the ledge with a cage on it and the smaller ledge. Head over toward the small wooden island with the two Bullies on it. Past the island is a small stone island with an eyeball and the first Silver Star on it. SS 2: Continue heading the same direction you were going when you came to this island, and ride up the wooden hump. The next Silver Star is on top. SS 3: Head past the Big Bully to the opposite corner of the of the level where you'll find the third Silver Star SS 4: Turn the corner and head towards the Bowser puzzle. Jump over it and turn left the find the next Silver Star on a small ledge. SS 5: Jump back over the Bowser puzzle and head left to find the last Silver Star on another small ledge. The floor panel to the right of the ? block in the Tox Box maze will warp you to the tree on the other side of the maze. This warp goes both ways. Stand under the tree to warp back. ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: In the Talons of the Big Bird Requirements: None When you start, look at your Touch Screen. Look for a Star marked on your map. That is where the Big Bird is. He usually is circling around one of the four tall pillars that surround the pyramid. Simply make your way to the pillar which he is currently circling, walk up to the top of it, and kick it out of his claws. The Star will then fly out of his claws to in between the two pillars on the far side of the pyramid (opposite the start). Navigate over there via the warp or Tox Box maze, and grab the Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Shining Atop the Pyramid Requirements: None, but ? Switch pressed strongly recommended NO ? SWITCH STRATEGY: From the start, head around the dunes and over to the Tox Box maze. Navigate or warp to the other side. Once there, head around the corner of the pyramid, avoiding the sinking sand. Run up the ramp in the front of the pyramid. Ignore the entrance and jump up onto the ledge to the right. Run to the end of the ledge, avoid the Flame Sphere, and jump up onto the next ledge on your left. Go to the end of this ledge and jump up onto the next ledge. Run down this ledge and turn the corner to the left. Ahead in a small alcove is your Star. ? SWITCH PRESSED STRATEGY: Mario Required From the start, head over to the cannon in the corner of the Tox Box maze. Grab the feather from the ? block and jump into the cannon. Shoot out towards the pyramid and fly around to the front. Turn around and fly into the star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Inside the Ancient Pyramid Requirements: None From the start, head around the dunes and navigate the maze or take the cannon to the other side. Head around to the front of the pyramid and enter through the hole in the front. Inside, the real quest begins. Run down the hallway and make a right at the end. Run around the corner and stop then you see a gigantic mummified block pounding the ground. Wait for him to fall, then jump on top of him. Quickly backflip off of him to the ledge on the right. Run right and climb up the pole you come to. Jump off at the top. Go right and run up the small ramp. Climb hand-over-hand across the cage and drop on the other side. Jump up the blocks to the next ledge. Wait for the rolling block to come towards you, then roll away. Follow it until you come to a small alcove in the wall. Enter it, and wait for the block to pass you again. Continue down the ledge and turn the corner. Jump up the moving ledges to the next level. Run down this ledge avoiding the electrified balls. Carefully walk across the very skinny ledge. Climb the pole at the end and jump off at the top. Go right, and wait for the hopping block to get to the far end of the lower ledge. Jump down onto the ledge and run under the block as it hops. On the other side, run up the ramp and jump onto the final ledge to obtain your Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Stand Tall on the Four Pillars Requirements: Any non-Yoshi character From the start, grab onto the Frog Box and use it to hop over the dunes to your left. There will be a large red-and-yellow checkered pillar in front of you. Run towards it, and you will run right up to the top. From here, jump down and wait near the quicksand pit for a whirlwind to appear. When one does, jump into it and fly over to the second pillar in the sinking sand surrounding the Tox Box maze. Jump off of that pillar onto the maze. Cross to the side containing the oasis. Run up to the top of the last top pillars here. When you stand on top of your fourth pillar, a sound will play. If you look at the pyramid, the top will begin to spin, and then explode. Warp back over to the cannon and grab a feather (If you're Mario and have pressed the ? switch. If not, just follow the walkthrough for the second Star and walk into the hole you'll find up there.) and jump into the cannon. Fly up to the top of the pyramid and enter the hole. You'll land in a large caged elevator that will begin to descend. When it stops, jump out and into the small alcove ahead of you. Break the bricks and slide down the ramp. Approach the coffin at the far end of the room, and a boss will appear. (See Bosses section for strategies.) Defeat him and grab the Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Tox Box Switch Star Requirements: Wario rescued From the beginning, head to the cannon area in the corner of the Tox Box maze. As Wario, break the black bricks near the cannon. (If you need a Wario cap, you can grab one from the Goomba on the lowest ledge on the pyramid.) Hit the Star Switch and quickly long jump across the gap. Keep long jumping down the long areas and across the pits until you get to the other side. Smash the Star Sphere on the other side of the oasis. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Pyramid Puzzle Requirements: Star 5 completed This Star is actually a cleverly disguised Silver Star collecting mission. Follow the walkthrough described in Star 3 to make your way to the top of the pyramid SS 1: Right below the ledge containing the Power Star at the top of the pyramid. SS 2: Drop down off of the ledge where you collected the first Silver Star through the small opening in the guardrail. You'll land on a small ledge containing the second Silver Star. SS 3: Carefully, CAREFULLY jump to the opposite side of the sand fall and fall onto the next small ledge containing Silver Star three. You'll want to press X and take a closer look at where you're jumping before you actually do. SS 4: Look down and jump off to the final small platform on the other side of the sand fall. From there, jump into the trough all the sand in flowing through. Quickly run, jumping to keep from sinking, to the next Silver Star at the corner. SS 5: Continue down the sand trough and you'll see the final Silver Star in front of you. Power Star: Run down to the end of the trough and smash the Star Sphere to grab the Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Free Flying for 8 Red Coins Requirements: Mario or Mario cap, ? Switch pressed Red Coin 1: From the beginning, turn around and run down the sand path in between the tall sand dunes and the sinking sand around the edge of the map. At the very end where the two meet, you'll find the first coin. Red Coin 2: Run around the dunes past the start and head into the small stone structure. The first Coin is in the red bricks nearest the Tox Box maze. Red Coin 3: Head over to the cannon and grab a feather. Shoot out and collect the third coin floating near the fence next to the front of the pyramid. Red Coin 4: The next Coin is floating above the pillar nearest the entrance to the pyramid. Fly and collect it. You may need to warp back to the cannon and collect another feather at this point. Red Coin 5: The next coin is floating above the pillar nearest the oasis. Fly and collect it. Red Coin 6: Coin six is floating in the oasis. Land and collect it. Red Coin 7: Coin seven is floating above the pillar in the sinking sand surrounding the maze. Fly and collect it. Red Coin 8: The last coin is sitting on a block in the middle of the Tox Box maze, further towards the oasis relative to the cannon. Collect it. Swim through the tunnel, making sure to come up for air in the middle. When you emerge on the other side, swim under the large sub in the middle of the cavern and surface on the other side. Jump out of the water onto a small ledge where you'll find a ! switch. Press it, and jump up the blocks that appear to the deck of the sub. Grab the Star spinning behind the prow. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Chests in the Current Requirements: None From the beginning, swim down to the bottom of the trench. There are a few chests here you'll have to open in a certain order. 1: The chest opposite the tunnel, right next to a clam 2: The chest directly in front and to the right of the tunnel. 3: The chest on the ledge directly in front of the whirlpool, opposite the tunnel. When you open the three chests in that order, grab the Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Pole Jumping for Red Coins Requirements: None This is quite possibly my least favorite Star in the game. From the beginning, swim down and through the tunnel into the area where the sub used to be. Surface at the opposite ledge and press the ! switch. Run a little further down the ledge until you come to another set of red bricks. Climb up these to a platform floating above the water. Red Coin 1: This Coin is sitting right in front of you as soon as you climb the red bricks. Red Coins 2, 3, and 4: Go to the left side of this platform, and you'll see three Red Coins suspended along the path of a moving pole hanging from the ceiling. Wait for the pole to come, then jump on and collect the three coins as you pass them by. Red Coin 5: Ride the pole back to the first platform. Grab onto the other pole that arrives at that platform and ride it to the platform with the Star Marker on it. From there, grab onto the other pole that arrives at the other end of the platform, and ride it until it meets with another pole. Ride this pole past the next platform and collect the next Coin floating above the water. Red Coins 6 and 7: Drop onto the platform with the two cages on either side of it. Head to the other side of the cages and grab onto the pole moving behind the cages. Collect the two Coins floating on either side of the platform. Red Coin 8: Make your way back to the platform with the Star Marker on it. Make a left and grab onto the pole that arrives at that side. Ride it to the platform with the Blue Coin Switch on it, and transfer onto the other pole that arrives there. Grab the coin sitting on the platform the pole connects to. Power Star: Simply ride the poles back to the platform containing the Star Marker and it's yours. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Through the Jet Stream Requirements: None Head from the over to the area where the sub used to be. There is a large grate on the floor of the lake that emits blue rings every few seconds. To obtain this Star, simply swim down towards the grate, swimming through the blue rings as you do. It may take some practice. Swim through 5 rings in a row to make the Star appear. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Koopa Surfin' Switch Star Requirements: Wario rescued At the beginning, swim over to the small island containing a ! block and some black bricks. As Wario, break the black bricks to reveal the Star Switch. Hit it, and quickly smash the ! block at grab the shell that appears. Quickly surf over the water on the shell to the Star Sphere on the opposite side of the level. Smash it and grab the Star. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Inside the Cage Requirements: Luigi rescued, ? Switch pressed Make your way to the area where the sub used to be. Surface on the side where the ! switch is located. To the left of the ! switch, you'll find a ? block with a Power Flower in it. Grab it to become invisible, and dive down into the cage directly to the left of the gigantic hole in the wall. The Star is inside. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: The Manta Ray's Reward Requirements: None In the trench where you start the level at, there is a large manta ray swimming around the vortex. Blue rings, similar to the ones emitted by the grate in the sub area, come off of the manta ray's tail. It's the same deal here. Long jump across the gap you'll find up there to the small overhang on the other side. Run down this slope and hang a left. Jump onto the long island in the middle of the freezing pond. Make your way past the Flowergirls and turn onto the straight that the waves of snow are coming from. Head down this way jumping over the waves as you go. Double jump up to the ledge at the end. Make your way up the next set of wooden ramps until you come to a large ice bridge in the front of the snowman. The snowman will make a small speech, threatening to blow you off. He will do so if you attempt to cross on your own. Here's where the large penguin also on the bridge comes into play. Wait for him to move to the end of the bridge you are on, and position yourself so that the penguin is in between you and the snowman. Follow the penguin's walking patterns until you reach the other side. From here, backflip up to the snowman's forehead and grab the Star! ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Chill with the Bully Requirements: None More bullies! These guys just don't quit! Anyway, from the start, make your way up the hill to your right. To the right side of the plateau, you can see a thin sheet of ice suspended over the water, with a big blue ice Bully on it. Long jump over to meet him. Here, apply the same strategies you used in Lethal Lava Land (Jumping on him, punching him, etc) to knock him into the water. once you do so, grab your waiting Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Yoshi's Ice Sculpture Requirements: Yoshi (Hmmmm...), ? Switch pressed From the start, make your way to the top of the hill on your right. hit the ? block and grab the Power Flower. Quickly make your way back past the cannon towards the structure with the ice cubes on it. As you are running towards it, start jumping so that you Triple Jump up onto the stack of two ice cubes. From up there, stand on the edge of the ice cube facing the stack of three ice cubes and breathe fire, melting the topmost one. Quickly jump across and do the same to the cube concealing the Star. Grab it when you're done. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Whirl from the Freezing Pond Requirements: None From the beginning, make your way up the hill to your right and Long Jump across the gap at the top. Head over onto the long island in the middle of the freezing pond. Run all the way to the end, past the snow waves, so you're facing the wall on the other side of the pond. Now, jump onto the head of the Flowergirl in the pond that is nearest to you, and you'll get a large jump boost. Use this to maneuver over the wall on the other side of the pond. Hit the ! block on the left and grab the Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Snowman's Silver Star Requirements: Star 4 completed SS 1: Follow the instructions for the previous star to get over the wall opposite the freezing pond. Once you're over the wall, hit the ! block on the right and hop onto the Shiny Shell. Head right and jump to collect the first Silver Star. SS 2: Continue along the snowy ledge and head down to the other end. Jump to collect the next Star. SS 3: Jump off of the ledge right by where you collected Silver Star 2 and the third Silver Star will be right in front of you. SS 4: Head over towards the Bully's platform and surf onto the water beneath it to collect Silver Star 4. SS 5: Keep heading straight toward the Goomba pen to collect the final Silver Star. Power Star: Make a left and head back towards the cannon, where you'll find your Star waiting in a Star Sphere. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Into the Igloo Requirements: Luigi rescued, ? Switch pressed Follow the directions outlined in Star 4 to get over the wall. Smash the right ! block and grab the Shiny Shell. Go back over the wall and onto the freezing pond. Ride the shell up the coin-studded slope to the left of the snow waves and make your way to the top, jumping liberally. Smash into the igloo at the top to break the shell. Crawl into the igloo. Once inside, look down. You're standing on your prize. Head over to the far corner and grab the Power Flower from the ? block. Quickly head back to the entrance and fall through the grating and nab the Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Red Coins in the House Requirements: None From the beginning, make your way up the hill to your right and Long Jump across the gap at the top. Head over onto the long island in the middle of the freezing pond. Run all the way to the end, past the snow waves, so you're facing the wall on the other side of the pond. Now, jump onto the head of the Flowergirl in the pond that is nearest to you, and you'll get a large jump boost. Use this to maneuver over the wall on the other side of the pond. Smash the right ! block and grab the Shiny Shell. Go back over the wall and onto the freezing pond. Red Coins 1-8: All eight coins are inside of the igloo. It's not very hard to find them. Some are floating in the air, and some are in the water. Power Star: Once you get all the coins, the Star appears on an island in the igloo. ---------------------------------- Section XI: Wet-Dry World ---------------------------------- ==================== Course Location ==================== From the main castle entrance, head through the door with the key hole on it at the top of the main staircase. Head up the spiral staircase inside and exit through the upper door. READ THIS FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This course has a unique feature. The higher you jump into the painting to enter the course, the higher the water level will be when you enter at after the Star selection screen. I will say at the beginning of a Star description how the water should be when you enter the level. The water level can also be changed internally by touching the floating colored diamonds scattered throughout the level. Run down the path and jump up to the ledge above once you reach the end. The Bomb-Omb Buddy is on this ledge. 1. At the top of the tallest tower in the water to the left of the starting point, diagonally across the level from the fenced-off entrance to Downtown. ==================== Warp Locations ==================== None ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Shocking Arrow Lifts! Requirements: None Enter the course with the water level at its highest. From the start, dive into the water and turn around. You'll see a large white colored platform underwater, with a diamond-shaped object on it. Swim over and touch the diamond. After the water lowers, dive off of the side of the platform that the coins are on. Ahead in the water you'll see three floating wooden platforms. Swim over to the short one on the right side and jump up onto it. From this platform, backflip up to the floating orange platform and from there, jump up onto the next orange platform. Now, you'll see a little block with two blue arrows on it. As soon as you step on this brick, it will begin to move towards another one. Keep riding these bricks until you are taken to the brown ledge with a ! block on it. Smash it and grab the Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Top O' the Town Requirements: None Enter the course with the water level at its highest. From the beginning, swim to the left and over to the cannon. Jump in. Move the cannon to the left until you see the Star floating on the highest platform in town. Aim the cannon so that the Star itself is about 1/8th of the way up from the bottom of your field of vision. Fire, and you should run right into the Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: 5 Secrets in the Shallows & Sky Requirements: None Enter the course with the water level at its lowest. Secret 1: From the start, head left towards the tower on which the cannon is located. Behind it, you'll find a large grey and red block. Push it to the left until a red number 1 appears. Secret 2: Keep pushing the block until it is under a yellow ! block. Jump onto the pushable block and smash the ! block for secret number two. Secret 3: Head right from secret two and jump up onto the ledge with the catapulting enemy. You'll see a pushable block in the wall. Push it until you see a red number 3. Secret 4: Have the catapult enemy fling you up to the next-highest ledge, and do the same on the next ledge. Once you're on the top ledge, jump up onto the circular platform being circled by a Shocker. Break the ! block you find here for secret number four. Secret 5: Jump over the sign and off of the circular platform. Head over towards the caged area to your right. Jump on the ! switch and jump up the red bricks to the top of the cage. The ! block up here contains the last secret. Power Star: From the top of the cage, turn around and long jump onto the ledge containing a Goomba. Head down the ramp and hit the diamond to raise the water level. Jump into the water and swim over to the Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Express Elevator--Hurry Up! Requirements: Star 3 completed, Mario off of the right-hand wall to jump onto the Enter the level with the water level at its lowest. Go to your left and jump up onto the first ledge. Have the catapult enemy throw you up to the next level. Repeat this until you are on the level with the caged area. Step on the ! switch and make your way to the top of the cage. Jump down onto the wooden ledge on the other side of the cage. When you step on the edge, one half of the platform will begin to descend. Quickly jump off of the platform to the ground, remembering to ground pound just before you hit the ground. Quickly run into the cage and do a wall kick to jump onto the wooden platform. Ride it up and grab your Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Go to Town for the Red Coins Requirements: None Enter the level with the water at its highest. Red Coin 1: From the beginning, head over to the caged area in the corner of the level and jump over the top on the cage. Swim down through the tunnel until you emerge in Downtown. When you swim over the last fence, swim straight down and hit the diamond you'll see to lower the water level. Go behind the brown building and hit the ! switch. Use the block that appears to jump on top of the neighboring building. Break the bricks here and nab the Coin. Red Coin 2: From the roof of the brown building, Triple Jump over to the roof of the neighboring white building. Smash the bricks for the second Coin. Red Coin 3: Jump off the roof and head back to the ! switch. Press it, and run in the direction of the churchtower at the front of the town. Next to the surrounding wall, you'll see a brown building with some red bricks leading up to the roof. Jump up them to the roof and smash the bricks up there for the third Coin. Red Coin 4: Long jump over to the roof of the neighboring building and smash the block there for the fourth Coin. Red Coin 5: Jump down and grab the Luigi cap lying nearby. As Luigi, backflip up to the top of the very skinny wall surrounding the center of town. At the end of the wall, you'll see two red bricks across a gap from each other. Smash one for a Coin. Red Coin 6: Smash the red brick opposite the one you smashed earlier for the sixth Coin. Red Coin 7: Head over towards the churchtower and jump onto the ledge leading up to the tower. Smash the brick here for the seventh Coin. Red Coin 8: Backflip up to the top of the churchtower for the last Coin. Power Star: The Star appears right inside the churchtower. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Quick Race Through Downtown! Requirements: Luigi rescued, ? Switch pressed Enter the level with the water at its highest. From the beginning, head over to the caged area in the corner of the level and jump over the top on the cage. Swim down through the tunnel until you emerge in Downtown. As Luigi, lower the water level to its lowest by using the diamond directly under the entrance. Run down the street and grab the Power Flower from the ? block. Run through the brick wall in the middle of the town, and head over through the cage on the opposite side of the churchtower. Backflip up the ledges to grab the Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Soaked Silver Stars Requirements: Mario rescued, ? Switch pressed Enter the level with the water at its highest. SS 1: Turn around and dive into the water. The first Silver Star is spinning on top of the white structure with the diamond on it. SS 2: Swim over towards the arrow lifts to see the second Silver Star floating on an orange platform. SS 3: Swim over to the long grey ramp to the right of the main tower. The third Silver Star is spinning underneath it. SS 4: Swim over to the highest point in the city, near the purple Bomb-Omb. Smash the ? block and grab the Power Flower. Use it to float up and collect the Silver Star spinning over the floating brown platform in the middle of the city. SS 5: Swim down to the bottom of the city and drain the water to its lowest level. Smash the first red brick on the wall to the left for the final Silver Star. Power Star: By way of the catapult enemies, make your way back up to the ? block. Stand on the smallest and lowest mushroom in the patch of moshrooms growing out of the sky directly after the two long jumps at the beginning of the course. Down here and across a this ledge you'll find this level's only cannon. ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Scale the Mountain Requirements: None From the start, follow the slope of the mountain up past the Goombas and across two long jumps. Go around the patch of mushrooms and past the Monty Moles. Go down the straight, past the Bomb-Ombs and the large purplr enemy, and jump across the small platforms to a ledge with a small monkey. Avoid him and jump onto the log. Make it roll to the other side and jump off. Run up the hill, avoiding the cannonballs. Slide down the opposite side. Long jump across the waterfall and go past the cloud. Run through the Goomba Garden (as I like to call it), and carefully cross the stone bridge that passes in front of the waterfall. Then, turn the corner and run up to the top of the mountain to claim your Star! ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: Mystery of the Monkey Cage Requirements: Star 1 completed When you begin the level, turn aound and climb to the top of the tree behind you to wake the owl in it. Ride him up to the top of the mountain. Drop off when you're over the top. A small monkey will be there. He'll try to run away from you, but you can easily dive and catch him. Once you do, let him go and he'll lead you down to the monkey cage and open it so you can grab the Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Scary 'Shrooms, Red Coins Requirements: None Red Coins 1-4: From the start, run past the Goombas and long jump across the gap. The first four coins are floating above the mushrooms growing out of the sky directly after the gaps. Red Coins 5-8: Continue on past the mushrooms until you come upon the Monty Moles in the ground. Power Star: Jump down to the bottom of the wall and long jump across the gap to the mushroom where the Star is waiting. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Mysterious Mountainside Requirements: None Follow the walkthrough described in Star 1 until you come to the floating cloud just past the long jump in front of the waterfall. From here, follow the coins and jump unto the side of the mountain that they lead in to. Inside, make your way all the way to the bottom of the slide where you'll find your Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Blast to the Lonely Mushroom Requirements: None From the beginning, make your way past the Goombas and across the long jumps. When you come to the patch of floating mushrooms, stand still on the smallest and lowest one to warp to the ledge leading to the cannon. Run across the small ledge and hop in the cannon. Aim so that the spinning Star is about 3/16s of the way up from the bottom of the screen and fire. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: 5 Secrets of the Mountain Requirements: Mario, ? Switch pressed From the beginning, jump into the tree behind you and wake up the owl. Ride him to the top of the mountain and land on the top. Break the ? block here and Triple Jump to behin flying. Around the top of the mountain are five rings of coins, each with a coin in the middle. You must collect this middle coin from all five rings. I recommend that you only try to get a coin once or twice before heading back to the summit to replenish your Wing Cap and take off again. When you collect all five coins, head back to the summit and collect your reward. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Breathtaking View from the Bridge Requirements: Wario rescued As Wario, jump into the tree at the beginning of the level and wake the owl. Ride him up to the top of the mountain and drop onto the stone bridge crossing in fron of the waterfall. (Remember to ground pound just before you hit the ground!) From the bridge, jump onto the small wooden ledge and break the black bricks behind the waterfall to reveal your Star. Climb the spiral staircase and exit at the top. Make a left and go through the door in the outside wall. This is a very unique course in that it has two entrances. If you enter through the left painting, you will enter the course large. If you enter a pipe while you are large, you will emerge small, and vice=versa. The corner of the small floating island with a coin on it will warp you beside the pipe near the piranha plants. This is a one-way warp. ==================== Star 1 ==================== Name: Pluck the Piranha Flower Requirements: None Enter the course through the left-hand entrance (Large) From the start, jump across the lake and onto the island with a tree on it. From here, jump into the water and up onto the higher ledge further beyond the first island. Be wary of the piranha plant and enter the green pipe. You'll emerge a smaller being. What you need to do now is walk around this platform you're on now to make the large piranha plants appear. When one does, punch it to kill it. Do this to all five of the plants on the island to reveal the Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: The Tip Top of the Huge Island Requirements: None Enter the course through the left-hand picture. (Large) Jump across the small lake at the start to the island with a tree on it. Jump onto the tree and use it to vault up to the next ledge. Head left and enter the pipe. When you emerge small, jump up the ledges in front of you. Be wary of the pruple enemy as you pass him and cross the wooden bridge. Turn left, head up the hill, and break the ! block to reveal the Star! ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Rematch with Koopa the Quick Requirements: Star 2 completed Enter the course through the left-hand picture. (Large) Jump across the small lake at the start to the island with a tree on it. Jump onto the tree and use it to vault up to the next ledge. Head left and enter the pipe.
Wneh you emerge, head right and go down the ramp beside the large black hole. Turn the corner here and hug the fence and you'll see your dear old friend Koopa the Quick. He got a little steamed when he lost the last match to you, and he's been practicing. When you're ready, say "Go!". Head around the fence and up the slope. Make a right and follow the cannonballs down the slope. Be careful that you don't get blown off as you cross the wooden bridge. Run past the pipe and to the flag. If you beat Koopa yet again, he'll begrudgingly hand over your Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Klepto the Condor Requirements: Star 3 completed Enter the course through the left-hand painting. (Large) Jump across the small lake at the start to the island with a tree on it. Jump onto the tree and use it to vault up to the next ledge. Here, you'll need to play the waiting game and wait for the giant condoe Klepto to come around to this side of the island, holding yet another Star in his talons. When he does, jump up and kick him. The Star will fly out of his talons into a small isolated island over the abyss. Jump down into the lake near the start and from there, jump up to the platform with the piranha plants. Step on the ! switch near the pipe to create a bridge to the island. Hurry over and grab the Star. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Wiggler's Red Coins Requirements: Mario rescued Enter the course through the right-hand painting. (Small) Head through the small mousehole in the wall at the start. Avoiding the Latiku and the large fish, make your way to the other bank and jump into the cannon. Aim up and grab onto the tree. Jump off and run past the Goomba on to the wooden bridge. Carefully run across the bridge and into the hole. Red Coin 1: On the same platform as you are when you enter the cave. Red Coin 2: Jump from the end of he first platform to the next one for the second coin. Red Coin 3: Jump to the next platform for the third coin. Red Coin 4: *sigh* Jump onto the NEXT platform for the fourth coin. Red Coin 5: Jump down onto the next platform for the fifth coin. Red Coin 6: *snore* Jump up to the next platform for coin six. Red Coin 7: Jump up to the next platform and carefully collect the seventh coin from beside the flame-shooting ball. Red Coin 8: Head over to the platform with the blue Star Marker on it. Wall kick between the two pillars up to the platform holding the last coin. Power Star: Jump down off of the pillar onto the platform below for your boring old Star. ==================== Star 6 ==================== Name: Make Wiggler Squirm Requirements: None Enter the course through the left-hand painting. (Large) Jump across the small lake at the start to the island with a tree on it. Jump onto the tree and use it to vault up to the next ledge. From there, jump up the ledges running up the side of the mountain and cross the small bridge. Climb up the last slope and into the pool of water at the top. Stand in the water and perform a ground pound to drain the water. Head back down the side of the mountain to the pipe by the cannonball hole. Use it and shrink down to a smaller size. Head back up to the summit of the mountain and enter the newly made hole. Inside you'll find a very mad catapillar named Wiggler. After his speech, all you need to do is stomp him three times and he'll cry uncle. Take the Star. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Switch Star on the Island Requirements: Mario rescued Enter the course through the right-hand painting. (Small) Head through the small mousehole in the wall at the start. Avoiding the Latiku and the large fish, make your way to the other bank and jump into the cannon. Aim up and grab onto the tree. Jump off and run past the Goomba on to the wooden bridge. Carefully run across the bridge and into the hole. Inside, make your way around the room to the platform with the blue con switch, the ? block, and the Star Switch. Press the Star Switch and quickly jump down the platforms to the ledge on the opposite side of the room. Head through the Star Door and double jump up to the face of the large clock in front of you. This course takes place in a giant clock. The entrance of this course has quickly moving hour and minute hands on its face. The position of the long minute hand when you enter the course will have an effect on the behavior of the elements within the clock. Long Hand Pointing at 12: The clock will be motionless. Long Hand Pointing at 3: The clock will behave normally. Long Hand Pointing at 6: The clock will behave erratically. Long Hand Pointing at 9: The clock will behave faster than normal. At the beginning of each Star description, I will provide my recommended setup for the clock for that particular objective. Run to the opposite side of the cage and jump onto the platform above the conveyor belt. Jump up the spinning platforms and up onto the next ledge. Head past the pusher and jump to the top of the cage you come to. Run across the cage, head down the ramp, ride the moving platform up to the next ledge and climb the pole up to the next level. Jump up onto the platform on your right and ride it up to another moving platform. Jump from this platform to the next ledge and jump up the spinning blocks. Jump down onto the caged area to the right containing a ? block. Stand directly underneath it and grab the Power Flower. Luigi will fall through the cage and onto a platform between two pendulums. Quickly head right and use the spinning platform to cross the gap. Run right on this ledge past the Goombas and jump through the small cage platform onto the ramp below. Quickly run up this ramp and through the cage at the top to claim your Star. ==================== Star 2 ==================== Name: The Pendulum Switch Star Requirements: None Enter the clock when the big hand is pointing at the 12. From the start, jump over the gap with a pendulum in it and run up the ramped cage. Jump onto the turning block and up onto the next platform. Avoid the next pendulum and jump across the gap to the next ledge. Run up the ramp and jump up the three spinning blocks and jump off to the ledge at the top. Jump up the spinning platforms and up onto the next ledge. Head past the pusher and jump to the top of the cage you come to. Run across the cage, head down the ramp, ride the moving platform up to the next ledge and climb the pole up to the next level. Head left and step on the Star Switch. Quickly run left and jump into the platform and from there onto the next ledge. Run left and jump across the gaps to get to the Star Sphere and your Star. ==================== Star 3 ==================== Name: Get a Hand Requirements: None Enter the clock with the big hand pointing at the 3. From the start, jump over the gap with a pendulum in it and run up the ramped cage. Jump onto the turning block and up onto the next platform. Avoid the next pendulum and jump across the gap to the next ledge. Run up the ramp and jump up the three spinning blocks and jump off to the ledge at the top. Don't get pushed off my the moving section of the wall as you pass it by and jump onto the next cage. Here, you'll need to wait for the gigantig clock hand to come around to this platform. When it doesn, hop on and ride it around to the small alcove containing the Star. ==================== Star 4 ==================== Name: Stomp on the Thwomp Requirements: None Enter the clock with the big hand pointing at the 3. From the start, jump over the gap with a pendulum in it and run up the ramped cage. Jump onto the turning block and up onto the next platform. Avoid the next pendulum and jump across the gap to the next ledge. Run up the ramp and jump up the three spinning blocks and jump off to the ledge at the top. Don't get pushed off my the moving section of the wall as you pass it by and jump onto the next cage. Run to the opposite side of the cage and jump onto the platform above the conveyor belt. Jump up the spinning platforms and up onto the next ledge. Head past the pusher and jump to the top of the cage you come to. Run across the cage, head down the ramp, ride the moving platform up to the next ledge and climb the pole up to the next level. Jump up onto the platform on your right and ride it up to another moving platform. Jump from this platform to the next ledge and jump up the spinning blocks. Jump up onto the caged platform on your right, and backflip up to the ledge on your left. Run along this ledge and be careful as you pass the pushers. Jump up the conveyer belts and onto the next ledge. Follow this ledge up to the very top. Wait here for the clock hand to come around and ride it to the other side. Backflip to the top of the Thwomp at the ewnd of the conveyer belt, and from there to the Star! NOTE: If you ignored me and entered the course with the intention of doing this objective with the clock stopped, it is still possible to obtain the Star. When you get to the top, simply climb up to the very top of the long pole in the middle of the clock hand and vault off to the conveyer belt. ==================== Star 5 ==================== Name: Timed Jumps on Moving Bars Requirements: Wario rescued Enter the clock with the big hand on pointing at the 12. From the start, jump over the gap with a pendulum in it and run up the ramped cage. Jump onto the turning block and up onto the next platform. Avoid the next pendulum and jump across the gap to the next ledge. Run up the ramp and jump up the three spinning blocks and jump off to the ledge at the top. Power Star: Jump back down to the base of the clock where you'll find your Star waiting. ==================== Star 7 ==================== Name: Tick Tock Silver Stars Requirements: Stars 1-6 completed SS 1-5: This is an odd objective. All of the Silver Stars begin at the top of the clock and gradually make their way down to the bottom. All you have to do is stay at the start and play the waiting game, collecting the Silver Stars as they fall onto your level. Don't worry if one falls into the abyss, for it wall respawn at the top of the clock and fall down again. Power Star: Jump over the gap with a pendulum in it and run up the ramped cage. Jump onto the turning block and up onto the next platform. Avoid the next pendulum and jump across the gap to the next ledge. Run up the ramp and jump up the three spinning blocks and jump off to the ledge at the top. Don't get pushed off my the moving section of the wall as you pass it by and jump onto the next cage. Run to the opposite side of the cage and jump onto the platform above the conveyor belt. Jump up the spinning platforms and up onto the next ledge.
