It's a budget title (1000 yen cheaper) released at the same time as the Nintendo DS in Japan. The graphics are very simple, clean and serve their purpose. The game uses the DS touch screen very well. __________ | Controls | The game and the menus are controlled entirely via the touch screen. The only button that's functional is the start button, which works as pause when you're in-game. The controls are quite detailed so it's recommended to use the stylus to get precision. _______ | Icons | These Icons appear throughout the game: ( O ) Yes/Confirm ( X ) No/Cancel ([ ]) Return to Menu __________ | Starting | When you start the game you will get this question: ゲーム説明をみますか? Do you want to see the game explanation? If you choose (O) you will be taken to the tutorial. If you choose (X) you go straight to the main menu. You can always find the tutorial later in the Lounge menu. I recommend doing the tutorial before starting to get a feel for the game. __________ | Tutorial | Quick descriptions of the lessons in the tutorial. To pause the game at any time either press the Start button or tap ([ ]) the book icon in the top left corner. Tap the (O) icon to resume the game. You might want to start with the Checkmate mode to get some slow practice before getting into the fast paced Challenge mode. ________________ | Challenge Mode | Blocks of pieces fall down from the top. Clear them out by making solid horizontal lines. Once the falling blocks catch up with you it's game over. If you get a high score ("RANK IN"), instead of simply entering initials you get to draw a something. Select the pencil to make black pixels. Select the eraser to make white pixels. When you are done tap the feather in the bottom right corner. - Practice mode (プラクティス) Here you never get time over. Take it slow, plan your path and figure out strategies for future sessions. ________________ | Checkmate Mode | No timer but harder puzzles. Clear each stage by making solid horizontal lines in one stroke. You can also create your own puzzles or enter passwords for new puzzles in the edit section. You then access these in the "Original" stage selection. To make things easier you can choose to display hints. Display previous failed path: If you fail a stage and retry the top screen will display the failed path you tried the last time. Tap (O) to confirm and the new puzzle is saved. Tap ([ ]) in the top left to exit. If you get PASSWORD NG (No Good) you have to enter the whole password all over again, so be careful. Once you solve it you're asked: ステージを更新しますか? Do you want to update the stage? Tap (O) to confirm and your new puzzle is saved. Tap ([ ]) in the top left to exit. ________ | Lounge | In the lounge you can access the tutorial from the start of the game. You can also send trial puzzles to a friend via the DS wireless connection. In the settings you can see how much time you spent playing the various modes. You can also change the volume of the background music and sound effects, and turn the backlight off. You can also erase your save here. Be careful so you don't do it by accident. __________________ | More Info/Credit | Official site: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/asnj/ Great dictionary: http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html ___________ | Copyright | Copyright Titney 2004 All rights reserved.
