[3.6] [0] - About This Guide After searching for a quick reference chart of which Pokemon will breed with each other and being generally unsuccessful, I decided to write my own and share it. This is not intended to be an explanation about how or why you should breed. If you need help with that, Serebii.net has plenty of information for you. Rather, this guide is for quickly answering the question, "Hey, what can my Castform breed with?" or "How can I get this TM move from the Monster egg group over to the Mineral egg group?" To use this guide quickly, search for the Pokemon's name you are interested in. If you're looking for a specific section, search for the quick reference section number with the brackets. For example, if I wanted to skip to the 'Breeding Bridges' section, I would search for [2]. [1] - Egg Groups Egg groups define which species of Pokemon will breed. As long as two Pokemon are in the same egg group, they will produce an egg of the female's species. There are three exceptions: 1. Except for Ditto, the 'Unbreedable' egg group will not produce eggs. 2. Ditto can breed with any Pokemon that is not in the 'Unbreedable' egg group, producing an egg of the other Pokemon's species. 3. Genderless Pokemon can only breed with Ditto. These Pokemon are noted under the 'Ditto' egg group. However, since they will never breed with anything inside those egg groups, I opted for the more practical 'Ditto' egg group. [3.2] - Credits Serebii.net - They had all the information; it just needed to be rearranged a bit. aburnett - For the idea of using a 'Ditto' egg group. Stryker - For the correction on Shedinja [3.3] - Contact If you find any errors, feel free to contact me at pianorain *At* bellsouth -d0t- net. Please include 'Pokemon Egg Groups' somewhere in the subject line. Questions or comments not directly pertaining to this guide have a high likelihood of being deleted. [3.4] - FAQ - Why won't my Ditto breed with [any Pokemon]? I've gotten this one with varying amount of information, anything from emails containing only that question to some with a bit more of the important stuff (and my personal favorite, the one that postulated that it had something to do with the weather). Yes, your Ditto will breed with any Pokemon that can breed except for itself. It seems a lot of people are concerned about the "The two don't seem to like each other much." message from the old man at the daycare. This -does not- mean that your Pokemon will not breed. It just means that it will take a while. The only message that means that your Pokemon will not breed is "The two prefer to play with other Pokemon than each other." You can check it for yourself by dropping two Pokemon that should never be able to breed in the daycare. - How do I breed a level 1 [any evolved Pokemon]? The simple answer is: you can't. Yes, you can breed certain Pokemon for either themselves or their baby evolution, depending upon the presence of an Incense, but that's the only exception.
