Note: All versions generally contain minor updates not listed; don't start whining because I didn't say so. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Version 1.5: Added a new "Difficulty" measure for minigames and bosses, fixed some spelling blips, and added a bunch of random sarcasm. Hopefully I'll have a contact method set up by version 2.0. Hurry Up activation is posted as well. Version 1.0: All stuff is up. ///////// 2. INTRO \\\\\\\\\ FluffyPoop2 In case you haven't noticed, this is a guide describing the bosses and minigames of Metroid Prime Pinball. Each section (supposedly) has in-depth strategies, descriptions, diagnoses, and asparagus-conversions of bosses and minigames. Nothing else. Except controls. Got it? Note: We do not actually have diagnoses or asparagus-conversions. ///////////////////// 3. CONTROLS/POWERUPS \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ FluffyPoop3 Controls: Control Pad Right: Right Flipper Control Pad Left: Left Flipper A Button: Right flipper B Button: Lay a Bomb Y Button: Lay a Power Bomb X Button: Fire a Missile (in Combat Mode) L Button: Left Flipper R Button: Right Flipper Start: Pause Game Select: Show your last score on the "Last Bounty" Screen (press B at the title screen... Speculation is that it's for the MPP High Score Leaderboard, which Nintendo says is coming soon... Whenever that is. Supposedly it's when now will be then. Touch Screen: Slide your finger across it to tilt the table. There's no tilt sensor, so don't worry about too much of a tilt. Powerups: Missile: Allows you to fire a Missile. Collected in Phazon Mines. You can chuck up to 4 of these things. On a boss table, you'll only shoot 1 at the boss, but on a regular table, you'll launch every single one in all directions at the same time. They'll powerful enough to kill a beetle in one hit, but aren't much good for Shriekbat Shootout. The missile-ish lights on the left of the Health Meter shows how many you have. Power Bomb: Allows you to lay a Power Bomb. Collected in Phendrana Drifts. You can only keep 1 Power Bomb, but it gives a whackatron big enough that this isn't too much of a drawback. Hit a boss with this thing to do many much damage. The light above the Bomb Lights shows whether you have one of these or not. Force Ball: Allows you to PUMP UP your ball. Run over a Force Concentration to PUMP UP. While your ball is PUMPed UP, you're invincible, and will do almost illegal amounts of damage (i.e. kills Metroids in one hit without making you bounce). Unbelievably great for bosses, but you need to kill Metroid Prime before you can use it on anyone else. The PUMP UP only lasts for about 8 seconds, so use it while you can. The green light thingy above the Health Meter shows whether you're PUMPed UP or not; the faster it's flashing, the less PUMP UP time you have. ///////////// 4. MINIGAMES \\\\\\\\\\\\\ FluffyPoop4 This section details each and every minigame on every board. -------------------- |a. Artifact Temple| -------------------- FluffyPoop4.0 Found on Artifact Temple board Duration: Until you die Activation Instructions: Get 10 artifacts, then get Thardus' and the Omega Pirate's artifacts to access to this level. The whole level is pretty much consisted of this minigame. Basic Instructions: This is both a minigame and the Meta Ridely boss fight. When you start, hit the ball into the saucer at the top of the table, and you will get 6 Artifact Balls. Your job is to activate all twelve Artifact Towers. To do this, you whack one to set it, then hit an Artifact Ball into the hole on the set tower to activate it. This seems easy, but you lose your Force Field quickly, don't get it back, and are constantly bombarded by Meta Ridely. One hit from Meta Ridely will destroy an Artifact Ball. If you have less than six of them, you can hit the target at the top of the screen to get a new one. Reward: An extra ball, access to the Impact Crater Strategies: Six balls is too much to handle on both screens, so for now just focus on making sure all the Artifact Balls don't fall out. If some get hit by Meta Ridely, ignore them. Once you're down to 3 or less, you can concentrate on the top flippers to get the top Artifact Towers. If you're down to one ball, make it your top priority to get at least one more. Level Differences: Meta Ridely gets less weenie. Difficulty: 6/10 ----------------- |b. Beetle Blast| ----------------- FluffyPoop4.1 Found on Tallon Overworld board Duration: Until you are forced back into Standard Mode Activation Instructions: Light up all the S-A-M-U-S Lights to activate combat, or activate combat using the Award Scanner. Once you are in the Combat Saucer, this minigame will automatically boot up. Basic Instructions: Slaughter all the Beetles that pop up before they do likewise to you. Reward: 25,000 points, 50,000 points if you are never hit, an Artifact/Special Strategies: Just make sure you always hit the one closest to you. Level Differences: Increasing number each level Difficulty: 1/10 ------------------ |c. Burrower Bash| ------------------ FluffyPoop4.2 Found on Tallon Overworld board Duration: 60 seconds Activation Instructions: Shoot the Mode Saucer when a Burrower is shown. Basic Instructions: You'll see a bunch of Burrowers pop up, then they'll chicken out underground. Run over where they're hiding to force them up, then convert all of them into roadkill. If you're too lazy, they'll come up on their own after about 10 seconds. Reward: 25,000 points, an Artifact/Special Strategies: On level 1, it's better to wait out the 10 seconds, but you want to do it as quickly as possible on level 2 and 3, so go ahead and just fire away. Level Differences: The Burrowers will burrow back into their holes on level 2, and they will do so more frequently on level 3. Difficulty: 3/10 -------------------- |d. Clone Multiball| -------------------- FluffyPoop4.3 Found on Pirate Frigate board Duration: Until you lose 2 out of your 3 balls Activation instructions: Hit the lights at the middle of the top screen, then shoot the ball into the green flashing saucer. Basic Instructions: Launch yourself up any of the ramps to get a Jackpot. If you can get it up the Wall Jump ramp (you'll need to use the top flipper - deal with it) then you'll get a Double Jackpot. Shoot the Clone Lock when it opens to score Ye Olde Super Jackpot. Reward: How ever many points you get via Jackpots, Artifact/Special if you get Ye Olde Super Jackpot. Strategies: It's a lot easier to get Double Jackpots, beileve it or not, but you need to keep a close eye on your other balls. Level Differences: Activation requires more hits. Difficulty: 4/10 ---------------------- |e. Gunship Multiball| ---------------------- FluffyPoop4.4 Found on Tallon Overworld board Duration: Until you lose 2 out of your 3 balls Activation Instructions: Lock 3 balls in your Gunship. Basic Instructins: Whack yourself up any ramp to get a Jackpot; no Doubles here. Once you get 3 Jackpots, hit yourself into the Gunship to get Ye Olde Super Jackpot. Reward: How ever many points you get via Jackpots, Artifact/Special if you get Ye Olde Super Jackpot. Strategies: None currently Level Differences: Activation requires you to go up the Gunship Ramp to light a light (that didn't come out right) Difficulty: 2/10 ------------- |f. Hurry Up| ------------- FluffyPoop4.5 Found on Tallon Overworld and Pirate Frigate boards Duration: Until the points count down to 10,000 for a while Activation Instructions: Hit all the Hurry Up lights (little arrow lights on the edge of the upper ramps and Mode Saucer) Basic Instructions: On the Pirate Frigate board, just launch yourself to the rightmost ramp. Tallon Overworld makes you shoot it up the leftmost ramp. This seems easy, but points decrease really really really fast, so saying Hurry Up would be like saying "take a leak, wait until the cows come home, then wait until Bush grows some brains". Synonymous with forever. So hurry the ing up instead, and happy you will be. Reward: How ever many points were displayed when you shot the ramp. You'll get an Artifact/Special if you shoot the ramp when the point display is still at max. Strategies: None currently Level Differences: Points increase, but count down faster Difficulty: 5/10 ------------------ |g. Metroid Mania| ------------------ FluffyPoop4.6 Found on Tallon Overworld and Pirate Frigate boards Duration: 60 seconds Activation Instructions: Shoot the Mode Saucer when a Metroid hologram is displayed. Basic Instructions: Just annihilate all the Metroids before the time runs out. Handy to be PUMPed UP when doing this. Reward: 25,000 points and an Artifact/Special Strategies: When there are only 2 left, go ahead and let them suck you in, then bomb them quickly. Level Differences: 2 Metroids on level 1, 4 on level 2, and 6 on level 3 Difficulty: 4/10, but 8/10 when on level 3 ------------------- |h. Parasite Purge| ------------------- FluffyPoop4.7 Found on Pirate Frigate board Duration: 60 seconds Activation Instructions: Shoot the Mode Saucer when a Parasite hologram is displayed. Basic Instructions: Run over all the Parasites before the clock reaches -00:00:01. More will come down from the realm of mustard above if you wait too long, so follow the technique I mentioned in the Hurry Up instructions. Reward: 25,000 points and an Artifact/Special Strategies: Most will appear in the outer or inner loop; destroy these first. Level Differences: Parasites will appear more quickly on levels 2 and 3. Difficulty: 4/10 --------------------- |i. Phazon Multiball| --------------------- FluffyPoop4.8 Found on Pirate Frigate and Tallon Overworld boards Duration: Until one of the Phazon Balls dies Activation Instructions: On the Tallon Overworld board, shoot down the Phazon Barriers, then shoot the ball into the Phazon Saucer. On the Pirate Frigate board, this can only be accessed via Award Scanner. Basic Instructions: Collect the Red Phazon Fragments with the Red Phazon Ball, and the Blue Phazon Fragments with the Blue Phazon Ball. Once you collect all of one color, a Large Phazon Fragment of that color will appear. Collect that to get a Jackpot. Collect both Large Phazon Fragments and a Mondo Phazon Fragment will appear at the Phazon Multiball Activator. Nab that to get Ye Olde Super Jackpot. Reward: Points collected, (10,000 per Fragment) an Artifact/Special if you get Ye Olde Super Jackpot. Strategies: ALWAYS use the bottom flippers. NEVER focus on the top ones. Level Differences: Only on Tallon Overworld: The Phazon Barriers will reappear after you knock them down on level 2 and 3. ------------------ |j. Phazon Frenzy| ------------------ FluffyPoop4.9 Found on Tallon Overworld board Duration: 60 seconds Activation Instructions: Shoot the Mode Saucer when the Phazon hologram is displayed. Basic Instructions: Just collect as many Phazon Fragments as possible. You can't die, and you can't really do anything but that. Reward: Points collected, (10,000 per Fragment) and Artifact/Special Strategies: None currently Level Differences: None Difficulty: 0/10 ----------------------- |k. Shriekbat Shootout| ----------------------- FluffyPoop4.01 Found on Pirate Frigate board Duration: Until you are forced back into Standard Mode Activation Instructions: Light up all the S-A-M-U-S Lights to activate combat, or activate combat using the Award Scanner. Once you are in the Combat Saucer, this minigame will automatically activate. Basic Instructions: A huge mob of Shriekbats will appear on the top screen; one hit will convert them into molten brocolli. After about 5 seconds, they'll start charging towards you, so don't be lethargic. Reward: 25,000 points, 50,000 if you are never hit, an Artifact/Special Strategies: If any of them are heading towards you, hit them. Immediately. Level Differences: There will be more Shriekbats each level. Difficulty: 4/10 ----------------------- |l. Space Pirate Panic| ----------------------- FluffyPoop4.02 Found on Pirate Frigate board Duration: 60 seconds Activation Instructions: Shoot the Mode Saucer when a Space Pirate hologram is displayed. Basic Instructions: Massacre all the Space Pirates. They'll jump around, so make sure to hit your ball hard. They'll also fire missiles at you, which not only do damage but send you flying to kingdom come. Reward: 25,000 points, an Artifact/Special Strategies: Try to move around as much and as quickly as possible; their Missiles will get really annoying. Level Differences: There are more Pirates on levels 2 and 3. Difficulty: 6/10 -------------------- |m. Triclops Terror| -------------------- FluffyPoop4.03 Found on Tallon Overworld board Duration: 60 seconds Activation Instructions: Shoot the Mode Saucer when a Triclops hologram is displayed. Basic Instructions: Whack all Triclopses to death. If you get to close, they'll suck you in and spit you out toward the gap in between the flippers. If you have a Force Field, this isn't a problem; if not, make sure to tilt the table as soon as you're launched. Reward: 25,000 points, an Artifact/Special Strategies: It's OK to move a little slow; you want to drop a Bomb right before they catch you; then they will suck in the bomb and explode with it. Also, the one higher up has a greater chance of spitting you out into the abyss, so be more careful around that one. Level Differences: 3 Triclopses on level 1, 6 on level 2, and 9 on level 3. -------------- |n. Wall Jump| -------------- FluffyPoop4.04 Found on Tallon Overworld and Pirate Frigate boards Duration: Until you fall off Activation Instructions: Shoot the Wall Jump Ramp until all lights are lit, shoot it one more time to land in the Wall Jump Saucer. Basic Instructions: Whack the flipper buttons in synchronized timing to spring up to the top of the chute-ey thingymabobers. Reward: Points collected, and Artifact/Special, or an Extra Ball Strategies: Always press the next button about eight and a half nanoseconds after you hit the wall, not before. Level Differences: Levels 1 and 3 have an Artifact/Special as a reward, while level 2 has an Extra Ball. It also requires more shots up the Wall Jump Ramp on levels 2 and 3. ////////// 5. BOSSES \\\\\\\\\\ FluffyPoop5 This section details all the bosses and how to kick their butts. Plus a handy little nickname! --------------------- |a. Thardus (Fartus)| --------------------- FluffyPoop5.0 Located on the Phendrana Drifts board Item Collected: Power Bomb Boss Bio: Fartus is a big mass of animated, Phazon-infused rock. It can curl itself into a big destructive ball, or throw spare rocks at you. Strategies: Power Bomb him as soon as you can. It'll take a good chunk outta his health. When he curls up into a ball, drop to the lower screen to make him uncurl. Then pelt him some more. -------------------------- |b. Omega Pirate (Omeggy)| -------------------------- FluffyPoop5.1 Located on Phazon Mines board Item Collected: Missile Boss Bio: Omeggy is the pinnacle of Project Vertigo, (program to infuse Space Pirates with Phazon) and the strongest of the Elite Pirate forces. He uses his Wave Quake Generator to make giant shockwaves to pulverize you. Strategies: Make sure to hit him a good amount of times until you fall, then activate combat ASAP. Hit him with 4 Missiles, and his joints will be blown off. Whack him while he's trying to recover to do unholy damage. --------------------------------------- |c. Meta Ridely (Zombie-Dragon-Cyborg)| --------------------------------------- FluffyPoop5.2 Located on Artifact Temple board Item Collected: None Boss Bio: ZDC is the old Ridely bioform from Zebes, leader of the Space Pirates, reborn with mechanical technology. He will bombard you constantly while you're trying to complete the Artifact Temple minigame. Strategies: See Artifact Temple minigame ------------------------------------- |d. Metroid Prime (Metroidus Primus)| ------------------------------------- FluffyPoop5.3 Located on Impact Crater board Item Collected: Force Ball Boss Bio: A huge life form discovered by Pirates, Metroidus is genetically similar to Metroids, although it is many times more powerful and is capable of producing Phazon. It will fire a massive stream of energy at you, and is invulnurable to any attacks except a well-aimed shot with a PUMPed UP ball. Strategies: When you land in Combat Mode, always whack his right arm. You will be ejected on the left side, so you can get a clear shot at that ramp to hit the Force Concentration. ------------------------------------------------------------------- |e. Metroid Prime Core Essence (Metroidus Primus Off The Steroids)| ------------------------------------------------------------------- FluffyPoop5.4 Located on Impact Crater board Item Collected: None Boss Bio: MPOTS is Metroidus Primus without the shell. It is weakened a lot more, and can be damaged with the standard attacks. It will launch exploding balls of Phazon at you, or shoot a huge beam of Phazon that will do 2 damage to you. Strategies: Hopefully you have a Power Bomb; use it now. A shot from the Force ball will take out a colossal chunk of health, so try to get that, now that the ramps aren't guarded by his arms. Also, two Metroids will appear instead of one. /////// 6. FAQ \\\\\\\ FluffyPoop6 Here I answer dumb complaints you send me.
