Early on in the series, the "Black Cat" Train Heartnet and his Sweeper (a Sweeper is a bounty hunter) partner Sven Vollfied are confronted by a thief for hire by the name of Rinslet Walker, who proposes a deal with them. Rinslet has been hired by the government to steal the research data of Torneo Rudman, a crime boss. Train and Sven agree to work with her because Torneo's bounty is worth half a million dollars. Train goes on a reconnaissance mission at Torneo's mansion, and spots Torneo with a few men and a girl, and 2 men on the ground. Torneo insists on a man playing tag with the girl, Eve, and Eve says she's "it". Then Torneo commands Eve to kill the man, and Eve changes her hand into a giant knife Train makes his presence known, stopping Eve from killing the man. At this point, you find out that the research data that Rinslet is after is that Torneo is attempting to make "Super Humans". Torneo commands Eve to play "tag" with Train, but Train "escapes" from the mansion. Torneo is working with nanotechnology that can manipulate DNA, developing a living military weapon that can transform at will. The result of his research is Eve. Sven and Train free Eve from Torneo's control, and Rinslet ends up destroying the data instead of stealing it. Train and Sven take Eve with them, instead of letting her be taken by the government, to another lab. Eve has no known birthdate, and the author says "For now, I'm making her 11 years old" in her character profile between chapters 13 and 14. Eve has the ability to transform any part of her body into any object at all. She saves Sven from being shot by turning her stomach into steel, and saves Rinslet later on by giving herself wings and flying. In this game, most of Eve's attacks are executed by using the nanomachines inside her to attack with her hair. ---------------------------------------- 2) Unlocking and Evolving Eve Eve is unlocked in J-Space, on the Black Cat world. The symbol for the series is a black cat. In the first mission for the world, you unlock Eve by collecting all the stars in 40 seconds or less. Eve will appear under the Character Evolution screen as the first character on the list, and has blond hair. Eve's evolution chart is as follows: --[2]-[3] | [1]---[4]-[5]-[S] 1 = Help Koma 2 = 2 space Support Koma 3 = 3 space Support Koma 4 = 4 space Battle Koma 5 = 5 space Battle Koma S = Black Cat Stage As always, the Help Koma is free of cost. The gem costs for the other Koma are as follows: 2 space Support Koma - 5 Red, 45 Green, 5 White 3 space Support Koma - 30 Red, 70 Green, 10 White 4 space Battle Koma - 50 Red, 150 Green, 15 White 5 space Battle Koma- 50 Red, 350 Green, 20 White Black Cat Stage - 200 Green, 100 Blue Total Gems Required: 135 Red, 815 Green, 50 White, 100 Blue By purchasing the Black Cat Stage, you can fight on that level from that point on. The shapes of her Komas are as follows: Help - [] 2 support - [][] 3 support - [][] [] 4 battle - [][] [][] 5 battle - [][][] [][] ---------------------------------------- 3) Help and Support Koma Help Koma - Eve's Help Koma lets your character jump three times, instead of the normal two. This aids your character by allowing him/her a greater chance of making it back to the platform if your character is knocked/thrown off the edge, or your character can flee danger more easily. 2 space Support Koma - This support Koma, when activated, makes Eve appear in front of you with a shield. A gray tile will appear above your character's head, which makes it so all damage you take is cut in half. 3 space Support Koma - When used, Eve's head will pop up out of the ground, and you'll get to choose one of your opponents, on the touch screen. Eve will then jump up behind the enemy, appearing as a mermaid, and punches the enemy with her hair, then dives back into the ground. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 32 Damage to Laughter: 48 ---------------------------------------- 4) Move List Passive Ability - Eve's health automatically regenerates, over time, thanks to her nanomachines healing her. A - Jump. By using the wings she gives herself, Eve can jump a max of three times, which is her second passive ability. Select - Eve's Ultimate Action is to perform a "Super Jump". With this, she bends down and gives herself her wings, then jumps to the same hight that she would if she had jumped three times. Combined with her normal ability to triple jump, Eve can effectively reach a hight as if she'd jumped five times. Down - Eve turns one of her hands into a shield, using her other hand to support it. This is the standard guard move. B - Eve punches forward with her hair, hitting about two character widths in front of herself. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 7 Damage to Laughter: 10 Forward + B - Eve punches forward with her hair, hitting about four character widths in front of herself Damage to Power/Knowledge: 8 Damage to Laughter: 12 Up + B - Eve bends down and turns her hair into spikes, hitting anybody above or next to her within close range. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 8 Damage to Laughter: 12 Down + B - Eve turns one of her hands into a mace, takes a step forward,and attacks with it. This attack, like everybody else's Down + B attack, forces the opponent to change characters when struck, if able. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 7 Damage to Laughter: 10 Y - Eve turns her hand into a giant knife, steps forward, and slashes with it. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 16 Damage to Laughter: 24 Forward + Y - Eve thrusts forward, throwing her hair forward about four character widths. If the enemy is about three to four character widths away, Eve will grab the enemy with her hair, throwing him/her over her head, about the same distance away. If the enemy is too close or too far, this attack won't do anything to the enemy. But, if you can grab the enemy, it can be a good way to set the enemy up for one of her other attacks, especially her specials. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 14 Damage to Laughter: 21 Up + Y - Eve will bend down and her wings will come out, with one looking like a fist. Eve will have one of her hands in a fist as well. She will then jump up and perform an uppercut with both her fist and her wing, but it will only count as one hit. This will lift the enemy into the air as well, leaving him/her prone to Eve's aerial Y attack. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 16 Damage to Laughter: 24 Down + Y - Eve turns one of her hands into a giant mallet, grabs it with her other hand, takes a few steps forward, and slams it down on the enemy. Like everybody else's Down + Y, this attack will break guards. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 16 Damage to Laughter: 24 Aerial B - In the air, Eve will turn her hair into a fist, punching at a 45 degree angle downwards. This attack has about the same range as her forward B attack, only at a downward angle. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 8 Damage to Laughter: 12 Aerial Y - In the air, Eve will turn her hair into a fist, punching straight ahead. This attack will reach almost to the edge of your top screen, in a straight line. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 16 Damage to Laughter: 24 Note: Like everybody else, Eve will stop in the air when performing an aerial attack. ---------------------------------------- 5) Special Attacks 4 Koma specials: X - Eve turns her hair into several fists, and starts to attack with a barrage of punches. Repeatedly tap X to make the barrage last longer, and to make Eve move forward in the process. At any given time, there will be about seven to eight fists on the screen. You'll get a max of 10 hits from this. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 18 for 4 hits, 24 for 7, 30 for 10. Damage to Laughter: 27 for 4 hits, 36 for 7, 45 for 10. After much testing, these are the most common amount of hits you'll get from this attack. Up + X - Eve raises a wing and shoots off six feather blades in front of herself, hitting the enemy up to six times. Damage to Power/Knowledge: each hit does 5 damage, for a max of 30. Damage to Laughter: 5 hits do 6 damage, number for doing 7 instead, for a total of 37 damage. 5 Koma specials: x - Eve bends down, has her wings come out, and turns one of her hands into a large lance. She then dashes forward, skewering any enemy in front of her with the lance. When she stops moving, the enemy is flung off the lance. The attack will damage twice, once when they are skewered on the lance, and once when they are flung from the lance. This is an effective move for getting a Ring Out on the enemy, as being flung off the lance causes the enemy to spin as he/she falls, making it harder to recover when knocked off the stage's platform. Because of the distance she can cover with this, it is a good way to perform a surprise attack on the enemy. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 10 on the first hit, 26 on the second, 36 total. Damage to Laughter: 12 on the first hit, 33 on the second, 45 total. Up + X - Eve turns her hair into two large spear heads, and starts to spin, jumping in the process. If you tap X, you get more hits out of this attack, to a maximum of 8 hits. The last hit will cause the enemy to be flung a short distance away. Damage to Power/Knowledge: 14 for 2 hits, 22 for 4, 26 for 5, 34 for 7, 38 for 8. Damage to Laughter: 17 for 2 hits, 27 for 4, 32 for 5, 42 for 7, 47 for 8. After much testing, these are the most common amount of hits you'll get from this attack. ---------------------------------------- 6) Ally Boost Eve is boosted by Train and Sven from Black Cat, as well as Akane-chan from Neuro. 4 koma Eve's HP starts at 128, then goes to 136, 144, and 152 with each boost. 5 koma Eve's HP starts at 144, then goes to 152, 160, and 168 with each boost. ---------------------------------------- 7) Combos After some experimenting, these are the combos I've been able to come up with. B, Forward B, Y, Forward Y. Like almost every other character, this is the most basic combo you have. The first three hits setup the hair grab perfectly, as long as the enemy doesn't get knocked out of place. Forward Y, Four koma Eve's X special. The enemy will get hit with the hair fists right after being released from the throw. Unfortunately, this tactic only really works with Four koma Eve's X special. With the Feather Shoot and Lance, it may work a couple times, but there's enough of a delay for those attacks that after the first few times seeing it, the opponent will just jump while in the air to avoid it. And, the Nanoslicer (five koma's Up+X) will not be within range to be able to get more than two of the hits in. B, Forward B, Y, Forward Y, Four koma Eve's X special. If you need me to explain this, please seek help. Just combine the two above. B, Up B, Y, Forward Y, Four koma Eve's X special. Same as before. Down B, Y. A good, quick combo that switches the enemy's character on the first hit. If the enemy is switching out characters to let one heal, this will be a good way to bring that character back out and possibly finish it off. Down B, Four koma Eve's X special. Same as the above combo, with the same speed, only more damaging. Again, this won't work as well with other specials, due to the aforementioned time delays and range issues. Down B, Y, Forward Y, Four koma Eve's X special. The same character switching process above, combined with the X combo mentioned before that. Up Y, Aerieal Y. The uppercut knocks the enemy into the air, and then the Aerial Y attack will immediately hit them before they recover. Up B, Up Y, Aerial Y. Just like the above mentioned combo, only you add an extra hit in. You COULD add a B attack onto this, but that only works if you're right next to the enemy. Otherwise, the Up B and/or Up Y attack will miss. ---------------------------------------- 8) Fighting as Eve Fighting as Eve is a bit tricky to get used to, at first. Because of her low HP, she can't take too much abuse before she gets KOed. One of the better tactics you can use with her, thus, is to hit and run. Because she naturally regains HP, this can make her last a lot longer if you don't have any healing komas. The good part about her Aerial B attack is it's angle of attack. While it may not be too damaging, not very many characters can do an attack at that angle to hit you first. Because of this, their only defense against this is typically to block. Since most people think that your attacks are over after the first one, you can do it again right after the first attack, and catch them off guard. Or, you could take advantage of Eve's triple jump ability, use an air attack, and then jump out of the way of danger. Eve's combos work surprisingly well on enemies on WiFi, despite her not being the fastest character in the game. If you can keep attacking the enemy, while avoiding their attacks, you'll wear them out over time. Another way to survive and do well as Eve is to distract/stop the enemy, then attack with combos and/or specials. You can either do this by making it so the enemies are too busy fighting each other, or via support komas. With the support komas, you want to use ones that will keep the enemy still and defenseless long enough for you to mount an attack. Some komas grab the enemy and hold them before attacking, while others you should use freeze/paralyze the enemy. Two koma Shishio (Ruroni Kenshin) and three koma Kakashi (Naruto) are examples of the former, while three koma Hitsugaya (Bleach) is an example of the latter. But, wait, some of these komas will have a delay for the enemy to block, right? Just use Down + Y for Eve to break the guard of the enemy, at the same time as activating the support koma. Either the enemy will have their guard broken and get hit by the support koma, or they'll attack to counter the guard break, and usually get hit by the support koma anyways. Most of the time, you'll still have enough time to pull off the attack you were going to do anyways. Also, remember to keep in mind Eve's low HP. Use support komas that can heal HP, as well as ones that will keep the enemy at bay. ---------------------------------------- 9) Fighting Eve To take Eve out, your best bet is a quick character. Either quick moving or quick attacking will work against her. Because Eve has low HP, she can't take too much abuse before she gets KOed. Also, because she is a Knowledge character, she takes even more damage if you simply use a Power character. Ichigo (Bleach) is a good character to use against Eve, because he has fast attacks, is a power character, and can move in closely quickly. Renji (Bleach) is also a good character to use against her. He may not be as fast, but he has very long reach, which will keep you out of harm's way while tormenting the Eve user with your attacks. Luffy (One Piece) is very similar, in this regard. His normal attacks will reach long enough to hit Eve while staying safe, and are fairly quick. Luffy's specials serve the same purpose, in that respect, as not only do they reach far, many of them will have a good range vertically as well as horizontally. Also, Luffy's specials are difficult to stop, and the only way for the enemy to get through without taking damage if you're coming at them is to use Eve's lance. That won't stop Luffy's specials, however, so watch out for an attack from behind. Perhaps the Eve user tries to use the Aerial B attack mentioned above to their advantage. A good way to stop that is Yusuke (Yuu Yuu Hakusho). He can fire back at the same angle that Eve would be attacking from with his Up+Y attack, and can easily knock her out of the air that way. Another way to defeat Eve is to catch the user completely off guard. Use Dio (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) or Linali (D. Gray Man) for that effect. Five koma Dio drops a steamroller from above, which he then starts punching rapidly. Linali has a similar special that attacks from above as Dio, which does a lot of damage and can be used well to ring out the enemy. That combined with Linali's natural ring out abilities can be hard for Eve to overcome. And let's not forget about support komas. Most players will not like it if you use these characters, but three koma Seiya (Saint Seiya) and three koma Trunks (Dragon Ball Z) are very effective ways to break combos. Also, use support komas that cause the Eve user to be stopped or drain SP, to eliminate Eve's great mobility and the ability to use specials/supports. As for levels, any level that is small will make it so Eve doesn't have much room to move, thus Eve will have a harder time evading attacks. Also, make use of levels that have hard to break/unbreakable walls, such as the Bleach level. Just remember that a good Eve player will know their weaknesses, and will do what they can to stop you from exploiting any of them. ---------------------------------------- 10) Four koma or five koma? Which Eve should you use in battle? Both battle characters have their pros and cons, but either is a suitable choice. Four koma Eve looks like the optimal choice, especially considering that it can combo into it's specials much better than five koma Eve can, and can fit easier into a deck since it requires one less open space. However, because of her low HP, it's a bit of a gamble to use four koma instead of five. Four koma Eve is best used to pound the enemy into submission with combo attacks, or guard the edge to force the enemy to be ringed out, when you knock them off the edge. Five koma Eve, on the other hand, serves two purposes with her specials. The lance is great for ring outs, especially when combined with support komas that stop the enemy from blocking or evading. A personal favorite, for me, is to do the guard break, use three koma Hitsugaya (Bleach), and then use the lance. With this, you'll break the guard, freeze the enemy, and launch them a long distance. To put this in perspective, this combo can make an enemy that was at full health be ringed out from the middle of the training stage, and they can't recover due to being frozen. The nanoslicer, while not as effective at defeating enemies as the lance is, is good for clearing space around yourself, if you're getting attacked. Since it's a quick attack, it's a good way to get rid of the crowd around you, and help you escape damage. Five koma Eve also has more HP, so she can survive longer. My personal preferrence is to use five koma Eve, because you can effectively come out of nowhere and attack the enemy without them realizing what's about to happen with the lance. The only clue you're about to get hit is the sound of the special being activated, especially if you're distracted by another enemy. However, four koma Eve is by no stretch of the imagination a bad choice, especially considering how effectively you can take away the enemy's HP with the combos including a special. Really, there is no "right" choice. It's all up to how you want to play. ---------------------------------------- 11) Version Info 1/7/07-1/8/07 - v.1.0 created.
