Characters: Jonathan Morris: Jonathan is 18 years old, he's the protagonist. Has a tendency to be hot headed and not think things through (aren't most video game protagonists this way?). He wields the Vampire Killer, the legendary whip of the Belmont Clan that has defeated Dracula for centuries. Jonathan is also energetic, despite his youth he thinks he can take everybody down. You'll get a lot of comedic relief from him too. Charlotte Aulin: Charlotte is a 16 year old magic user. She is extremely intelligent but thinks little of others' business and feelings. She LOVES to talk and will always say that she's not a kid. She is very mature for a 16 year old though. Is loved by many on the GameFAQs message boards. Vincent Dorin: Vincent is a 32 year old Monk. He's cowardly, but he acts as a guide and runs the store. An easter egg will reveal some funny dialogue between him and Jonathan or Charlotte, or both. Wind: Wind is your local friendly ghost that you find during your adventures here at Castle Dracula. He's the guy who'll give you quests which are all optional (except 1) some of them being down-right fun. He reveals some important information about the castle to you early on. Brauner: Brauner is the Lord of the castle at the moment. He wishes to cleanse humanity after the deaths of his daughters. Of all things he uses friggen paintings to augment his power, wussy sounding I know. Stella: Stella is one of the two sisters who considers Brauner their father. When you play the game, you'll notice that they are intricately woven together with another character you meet during your playing time. She will annoy you to no end until you do something good for them. Uses physical attacks. Loretta: Loretta is the other sister. Her description can be taken the same way as Stella's. Uses magical attacks. Death: The most notable thing about him that you don't already know is that he's lawful evil with samurai like aspects. John Morris: Jonathan's father, deceased. Star of Castlevania: Bloodlines Richter Belmont: One of the game's most infamous typos, ranking up there with "Game Ober," and "Charotte." You'll see his name as "Richiter" with an extra 'i' in there somewhere. Don't believe it, you Castlevania noobs, it's really Richter. Star of Dracula X: Chi no Rondo for the TG16 and Dracula X for the SNES. Played a major role in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the PS1. Trevor Belmont: The first Belmont to destroy Dracula. No typos in this name. Star of Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse, and played a role in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. Sypha Belnades: Trevor's lover, helped him out in Castlevania 3. Grant: Helped Trevor in Castlevania 3. ====================== 4. Walkthrough: (under construction) 1. The Beginning 2. Entrance 3. City of Haze 4. Entrance Pt. 2 5. Buried Chamber 6. Great Stairway 7. Sandy Grave 8. Great Stairway Pt. 2 9. Nation of Fools 10. Tower of Death 11. Entrance Pt. 3 ====================== ************************* The Beginning ************************* Start the game and hit "New Game". Input your name and edit your emblem. The game begins with a scrolling text introduction about the basic time period and plot for this part of the game. When it is completed you see a monk pacing back and forth. Enter Jonathan Morris, you control Jonathan now. Walk up to the Monk and talk to him, this is Vincent, he'll recognized Jonathan immediately because you're carrying the Vampire Killer. SURPRISE!! Jonathan can't use the whip because he's 1) Not a full-blooded Belmont and 2) Not the rightful heir at this point. The girl following Jonathan will finally talk and Jonathan will reveal that she is Charlotte. Later on, Vincent will reveal that he runs the store. Everything else is fairly unimportant. ************************* Entrance ************************* First thing you want to do is drop down. Now walk to the right and receive the "Change Cube". The Change Cube allows you to switch characters freely by pressing the X Button. Go to the far right and jump up the platforms, now jump to the platform on the left to receive the "Call Cube". The Call Cube lets you call your parter by pressing the A Button, press it again to send them away. Stay standing on the switch. Jonathan will comment about not being able to open the bridge by himself. Call Charlotte, the bridge will now fall all the way down. You can keep her out or send her away, it's your choice. The next room contains zombies, kill them all with the Vampire Killer and proceed to the right. The next room has nothing in it so keep going right. More zombies, kill them and keep going to the right, when you notice a platform in the floor, press down and B to drop down. You'll get the Tome of Arms 1 for Charlotte, equip it. Drop down again and go left to get the Short Sword for Jonathan, equip it. Drop down again and go all the way to right to access your first save room. Go ahead and save it. Go back to the previous room and return to the top, go right to go into a room with a bunch of cracked pillars. Before you do anything you may want to send your partner away if you have both of them out. Attack them to break them. After a few you'll be chased by the Behemoth, PICK UP THE PACE!!! Right before the end you'll find a few platforms, the topmost one has Beef Jerky, get it and stay on the top platorm until the Behemoth goes by. Go right some more and get the Knife. Keep going right to access another Save Room and save it again. In the previous room you'll notice another shiny crystal at the top of the right side, ignore it because you can't get it yet. Go up the left side and go left now. Kill the skeletons. In the next room you'll find the "Wait Cube" right at the beginning. Have Jonathan stand on top of the glowing statue and use the Wait Cube. Now push the cube all the way to the left and switch characters. Now you can jump up to the second level. Go right and you'll find Raging Fire, it automatically equips on Charlotte. Go a little to the left and jump up to the third level and keep going left. More Skeletons and some Axe Armors, kill them all, you need the experience right now. Keep going left to get into a big room jump to the left to get a Head Guard, equip it on Jonathan. Head to the top of the big room and jump up there, kill the Axe Armors, and grab the Book of Spirits. Keep going left to unlock a Warp Room. Go back to the big room and drop down, on the left you'll notice two narrow passageways, we can't get in those right now so go right. You can go ahead and step the switch in the middle of the bottom level to unlock a wayback to the beginning of this area. Now go right and enter the room. Enter Wind: In this room a cutscene will initialize, Jonathan will sense a strange presence and they'll walk down the stairs and a blue person will appear from the glowing light on the floor. Charlotte will notice how it's not human, but it once was. Jonathan will want to kill it but Charlotte will stop him saying that he's not evil. The Blue Person will finally start talking now. At first he'll say he's a ghost and he needs no name. Charlotte will be amazed that he's kept his conscious within Dracula's Castle. Jonathan will still want to kill him. Blue will now say something about how Jonathan can't use the Vampire Killer, Jonathan almost goes ape, but Charlotte stops him at the last second. Charlotte will inquire into his knowledge of the Vampire Killer. Blue will now talk about how he cast a barrier on himself before he died and bound himself to this specific room in the castle. Blue is free but inside a prison at the same time. Charlotte will be amazed again that he cast a barrier that should in fact be impossible. Blue will now give you a name to call him, Wind. Charlotte will now wonder why he's here, her logic being that if he could cast a barrier that powerful and bind himself there, why couldn't he just cast something else to get him out. Wind will now comment on Charlotte's intelligence, Charlotte gets all pissy because Wind's treating her like a child. Wind will ask who the boy is and Jonathan gets all pissed because now he's the one being treated like a child, and he gives Wind his name. Wind says the only reason he remains in the castle is "regret". He's going to be there until the Lord of the Castle is vanquished. *NOTE: If this is your first time playing the game, you'll probably think he's talking about Dracula, this will be brought into more detail later.* Jonathan asks what Wind is going to do if he can't move, Wind says he can give you items and techniques he had in life. Jonathan still wants to go it alone but Charlotte will try to talk some sense into him but mentions Jonathan's father. Big no-no. Jonathan turns into a drama queen, and asks Wind for his help. Wind will help you only if you accept his tasks. You'll go into the Quest Selection screen, there's only one choice so choose Preparations. Just go right and you'll see Vincent. Vincent will say some things, Charlotte will comment on how his shop just happens to be here. Buy a potion and map from him. Also this room doubles as a Save Room so you can save your game behind Vincent. Talk to Wind and hit Preparations again to get a Lizard Tail. The Lizard Tail allows you to slide by pressing Down+B. Now Wind will comment about the Castle's Lord, Charlotte will ask about Dracula. Wind will tell you that good ol' Dracula is not the Lord of the Castle right now. Jonathan acts extremely stupid by saying that Dracula is why the Castle is called Dracula's Castle. Wind will tell you that it is Dracula's Castle, but the Lord is a vampire named Brauner. SURPRISE!!! Charlotte is shocked and in disbelief. Wind will say that Brauner has been a secret for years, and that Brauner infuses his magic into painting in order to increase his own power. Wind tells you to search for these paintings, which we will. Charlotte now has a false sense of security, and Wind warns the two. Jonathan according to Charlotte is unreliable but never breaks his word, a nice little paradox for you. Go ahead and buy a fewmore potions and save your game in Vincent's room. Go back to the big room and now slide through the narrow passageway on the second level. When you enter the room you'll get adescription about paintings from Charlotte and how it must be one that Brauner uses that Wind told you about. Jonathan will recommendripping it to shreds but Charlotte describes how pointless it will be as it will simply rejuvenate. You'll get a description that Johnathan can't understand and he asks for it to be dumbed down. Nothing left but to enter it. ************************* City of Haze ************************* Go right and you'll find a Warp Room (no, you can't warp from a painting Warp Room, straight into a castle Warp Room). Keep going right. You can break the street lamps for money or hearts. Kill the skeleton and the next enemy is a Death Mask, it may take some time to take down at level 1 but they'll get much easier. Keep going right into the next room and pick up the Clover Tiara, equip it on Charlotte. Jump up the platforms and kill the skeleton. Go to the top and head right and kill the Axe Armor, go up the platforms. At the top head left and you'll find another Axe Armor, some hunks of meat that swing when you hit them, and a Kirtle at the far left of the room. Go back after you've had your fill of meat beating. This time go to the right and drop down, keep dropping down until you see the Leather Cuirass, equip it. Go down to the bottom and kill the skeletons, now go back up and kill the skeleton. At the far left, drop down into the next room. Nothing in this room except some money, so keep going right. You'll be back outside and you'll see an Andras, kill it and go right. In the next room, you'll find a White Corsage, equip it and go right into a Save Room. Save the game and go back into the previous room and go up. You'll find a Leather Corset, equip it only if you're willing to sacrifice an INT point for a DEF point and go left. You can break the things on the tables for money. You'll find another Death Mask so kill it and keep going right, now go up the platforms into the next room. You'll immediately run into a Zachhino and Forneus, so kill them both. Go left and go up the platforms. In here, you'll run into more Death Masks so kill them quickly and movealong to the left. In the next room, drop down while collecting money. At the bottom you'll find an Axe Armor waiting for you so kill him and go right, in this room you'll find your first Dual Crush, Rush. Go back and go up the platforms on your left. You'll find another Axe Armor waiting for you, kill it and go up. At the top, you'll find a Claymore, equip it and head right. Kill the Axe Armor and at the far right, you'll find some Sandals, equip it. Drop down and kill some Mini Devils. Go right and you'll see some Claymore bait in the form of Zombies and Slingers, go right. In the next room, you'll run into another Forneus, kill it and go up. Go left and kill the Zacchino, grab the Leather Whip but don't equip it. Climb on the platform and jump onto the narrow passage, get the potion and move right. Now move down and kill the Axe Armor. Go to the right and kill the two Forneus's (Fornei?) and move right. In the next room, go up and kill the Zacchino at the top. To the left there's another Warp Room, go back and go right now. At the far right, there's some Enamel Pinheels, they don't increase anything more than the Sandals you have on, so don't bother equipping it. Go to the bottom and head right, in this room, you get another Dual Crush, Holy Lightning! Head back 3 rooms, and go down then left. Go left again and kill the Peeping Eye. Now go down, and kill some bats as they fly at you. QUICK! GO DOWN AND GRAB THE MONEY BAG!! Good job, you just made $1000. Go left into the save room and save. Now go right and you'll see a glowing cart and a switch. Stand in the cart and tell your partner to Stay. Now go hit the switch and switch to your partner. Head right, a Peeping Eye will come floating towards you, so kill it and go up for now. At the top of this room, go right and you'll find a Warp Room, go back and go up now. Kill the Slinger above you and move to the right, you'll see two items here, one on the top, and one on the bottom, on the top we have the Gale Force, equip it and go to the right, now slide under the top platform to get a Mace, equip it and go back down. Go to the bottom and head right, you'll get a Skill Cube, continue to the right. Kill the Slingers and Axe Armors and continue to the right. Kill the Peeping Eye and go right into the Save Room, save and go back a room. Now go up and kill the Slinger at the top, continue to the right and kill the Slingers and Forneus and continue to the right. Kill the Death Mask and go right, you'll find a Houppelande, equip it and go down, kill the Axe Armor and Mini Devil. Go right and kill the Zacchino, and continue. In the next room, kill the Mini Devil and go up. Kill the Death Mask and some more Mini Devils, go left and you'll see a bag of $1000. Go right now and kill the Peeping Eye and Zacchino, go up and right to find a Warp Room. Go back and go up. Kill the Slingers and go right to find a Save Room and save your game. Go back and go up now. Kill the Mini Demons as yougo left and you'll see a door at the end of this room. Prepare for the first boss of the game. ************************* Dullahan ************************* Stats: 600 HP 500 EXP Attacks: He'll put his head on his shoulders and balls of pain will shoot at you, after that he'll throw his head and smaller ballswill shoot, you can take them out with an attack. He'll also lunge at you with his spear, move back because his whole body will follow, and the body's what's dangerous because his spear goes right over your head if you're standing on the ground. His last attack is a jump in which he jumps up and stabs his spear into the ground, shockwaves follow. My Equipment: Jonathan: Weapon: Mace Subweapon: Axe Body: Houppelande Head: Head Guard Charlotte: Weapon: Tome of Arms 1 Spell: Raging Fire Body: Kirtle Head: Clover Tiara Legs: Sandals Accessory 1: White Corsage Dual Crush: Holy Lightning Strategy: When he puts his head on his shoulders, run and stop when they shoot out and all of them will miss. When he throws his head and the smaller balls are shooting, attack them and they'll disappear. When he lunges at you, get plenty of space between him and you as his body will lunge towards you but his spear will go flying over your head. When he jumps in the air get out of his way and jump when the shockwaves come. Attack him in between his attacks and he'll go down soon enough with the Mace, if you jump and attack he should get damaged twice. You can use Holy Lightning to cause some pain. Grab the ball to heal, Charlotte will say that the creature was the core of some magic energy. Jonathan acts stupid, thinking Brauner is totally defeated by now, and Charlotte says that his power has decreased a bit. Enter Loretta, she smells maggots and it looks like she's talking about you! Jonathan may not be bright but he knows a vampire when he sees one, Loretta acts all holier-than- thou and insists that she's a LADY. She does acknowledge a slight weakening but she has bad news, there's more paintings Charlotte already knows and Jonathan is clueless. Loretta enters the danger zone by calling Charlotte a child. Jonathan wantsto pick a fight and this time Charlotte agrees. But Jonathan can't use the Vampire Killer so it's all for naught. Loretta has ordersnot to fight you so she runs away. Go back and save. Go back through the boss room, in the next room, you receive an Acrobat Cube, this will be useful to access some areas. In the next roomwe're going to go up, so kill the Slingers, Mini Demons, and Death Masksalong the way. At the top right, use your fancy new Acrobat Cube to getto a cape. Equip it and move left now. Go into the room at the top leftand you'll find the Thick Glasses, these give a nice INT boost to Charlotte. Now go back and drop all the way down the left side. Kill the Axe Armor in the next room and move left. Go up in this room and kill the Slinger. Use the Acrobat Cube to get some Moonwalkers. Now drop down to the bottom and go through the platform, kill everything in here and get the Axe. Equip it and go back up and head left. Kill everything and go down at the end of this room. Go left since there's nothing in this room. We're going up again so kill everything along the way and at the top right, use the Acrobat Cube again to get the Long Sword, don't equip it. This time in the far left there's a Velvet Ribbon, if you equip it you lose those INT points you have with the Thick Glasses, so don't do it. Drop all the way down the left side and go left through the next room. Keep going left until you get the Push Cube, use it to move that glowing cart. Keep going left after you do that though, don't drop down just yet. Kill the Andras' and keep going left, now kill the line of Axe Armors and grab the CON Boost. Go back to the room where you pushed the cart and drop down. Head to the Warp Room that's right under you and warp to the painting's entrance. ************************* The Entrance Pt. 2 ************************* First thing you can do is another quest if you want, I won't go into detail here. You can check out what Vincent has and then save your game. Head back to the room that had the two ways up, and you couldn't get up the left side. Go up the left side using the Acrobat Cube. You'll get Whip Skill 1 at the top. You can save it again if you want and then go right. Keep going right and pick up the Spear but don't equip it. Save and prepare for the boss. ************************* Behemoth ************************* Stats: 800 HP 1000 EXP Attacks: He'll charge out of the room and come back in, touching him will hurt, he'll jump into the air. He'll stick his tongue out and it wiggles all over, it hurts too. He spits balls of pain at you, hit them to make them go away. My Equipment: Jonathan: Weapon: Axe Subweapon: Axe Body: Biker's Jacket Head: Head Guard Legs: Moonwalkers Accessory 1: Cape Accessory 2: Studded Choker Charlotte: Weapon: Tome of Arms 1 Spell: Gale Force Body: Houppelande Head: Thick Glasses Legs: Sandals Accessory 1: White Corsage Dual Crush: Holy Lightning Strategy: When he charges you, get onto the platform and jump as he runs by. When he jumps, slide under him, he'll usually follow a jump with a run out of the room, when he sticks out his tongue, just get away from him any possible way. Hit the balls of pain to make them go away Keep your distance from him and keep attacking him. Holy Lightning hurts him. Use potions to stay alive and tonics to recharge Holy Lightning faster. Only call out your partner when you want to use Holy Lightning. Go back and save now. Go back through the boss room, go down now since you can't do anything in the room to your right. At the bottom, go through the door. ************************* Buried Chamber ************************* Head right killing the Golem and Skull Archer along the way. Go down at the end of the room and watch out for Unes. Kill them when you find them. At the bottom of this room, head left to find an Anti-Venom, drop down now. Head left into the next room and you'll find Offensive Form. Go back to the second room and go right now. Kill Mud Men as the appear and the Ice Shades as well, they'll just be annoying if you don't. Keep going right. For this next part, I recommend that you go up first and circle around, killing everything as you go of course :) Just keep an eye out for Golems, they can be tough if you're underleveled. Work your way down and around again. Watch out for Invisible Men (Micheal Jacksons :)) on the bottom screen, they're tough to see once they get their outfits off. At the far left of the bottom room, you'll find a Cestus, don't equip it, it sucks. Now work your way back around to the right side of the square and head right. Head right again to find a Save Room, you can save it if you want. Go back and go down now. At the bottom of this room, go left to find a Warp Room. Go right now through the previous room and right again. In the next room you'll run into your first Dragon Zombie as kind of a mini-boss. Kill him, he's not hard at all, if you enter and re-enter, the Dragon Zombie is replaced by Mermen. Keep going right now. Watch out for random Bats, they're more annoying than anything. In the next room, you'll find some Mermen, Slimes, and Frozen Shades just kill them and move on. In the next room kill the Invisible Man quick and go up. There's a bat hiding up in the upper left corner so watch out for him. In the next room, there's a Slime on the ceiling, get him down and kill him, watch out for the Frozen Shade, continue on killing everything and going right. When you see the platforms, go up them because there's nothing to your right for change. Go up and kill the Slimes while watching out for random Bats. At the top you'll find a Potion, head right through the next room. Kill the Invisible Man and grab the Bandana. Go left now and kill the Frozen Shades, at the far left of this room is the Ice Fang spell. Go up now and watch out for random Bats, about halfway up this room, you'll find a Copper Plate, equip it if you want. Go up then left, kill the Invisible Man quickly and continue to the left. ************************* Great Stairway ************************* First thing's first, kill the Skull Archer and move up, killing the Skelerang on your way. Head left now. Enter Death: When you enter this room you'll see a Skeltor looking version of Death. Jonathan's all surprised so they jump down. Death had a hunch you would show up and cause problems for his master, Dracula. One problem though, Dracula's not around, and Brauner is the master of the castle right now. Jonathan's puzzled as to why Death is still around. Death insists that the castle belongs only to Dracula and Charlotte is actually wrong. Death doesn't know who Brauner is or what he would be doing at Dracula's Castle. Jonathan gets pissed at him, Death even with all his power didn't sense Brauner around here. Jonathan makes another enemy, and Death goes into the Danger Zone by saying that Jonathan's father was much stronger than Jonathan and now he's dead. Jonathan goes off like a bottle rocket. Charlotte becomes the General in this situation, and tries to calm Jonathan down. Death gets a good laugh out of the situation and continues on his Deathly business. Jonathan explains how he goes crazy when someone mentions his father. You get some history about Jonathan's father, if it interests you. Go left twice to find a Warp Room, go back and go up now. Head right and take out all the Persephones along the way. In the next screen go down to find Don Quixote, equip it and go right to find a Save Room. Save it and go back up and right. ************************* Keremet ************************* Stats: 666 HP 2000 EXP Attacks: Shoots balls of pain at you, shoots a big ball of pain straight ahead. My Equipment: Jonathan: Weapon: Axe Subweapon: Offensive Form Body: Copper Plate Head: Bandana Legs: Sandals Accessory 1: Cape Accessory 2: Studded Choker Charlotte: Weapon: Don Quixote Spell: Ice Fang Body: Houppelande Head: Thick Glasses Legs: Inuit Boots Accessory 1: White Corsage Dual Crush: Holy Lightning Strategy: Attack until he comes out and start wailing on him, when he shoots small balls, hit them to make them go away. When he shoots the big ball, get out of the way. Use Holy Lightning to cause pain. Use Potions to stay alive. Just keep attacking his head area to make him go down eventually. * Alternate Strategy * This alternate strategy is courtesy of neeker and I take absolutely NONE of the credit. "There's actually an easy way to kill Keremet (Great Stairway boss). To do so, jump onto the pot itself, and start whacking the pot from on top of the edge of it. Keremet will pops his head out soon, but if you're standing on the edge, you can avoid being hit. He can shoot balls and summon small slimes for all he likes, but the place you're standing would be a blind spot that these balls and slimes can never hit. Keep slashing away until he retreats, and then repeat the process until he's gone. You can finish him off without losing any health, and without using any magic or combo." Go back and save. Go back through the boss room and grab the Stone of Flight, YOU CAN FINALLY DOUBLE JUMP!!! Watch out for Larva that fly around randomly. Grab the Partisan at the top and go right. Kill the Catoblepas and move on, in the next room go right instead of up. We've got something to take care of before we go up. In this room kill the Skull Archers and the Lerajie. At the right side of the top of the room grab the Iron Leggings and equip them. Move down now, there's a crumbling floor that you can use to take straight to the bottom, or you can kill everything on your way down. At the bottom go all the way left to find a Nun's Habit and a Mimic. Kill the Mimic and equip the habit if you want. Now go right into the next room. These Persephone have vacuums, head right again to find a Save Room, save it and go back and head down. At the bottom, head left to find a Warp Room, now head right and enter the painting. ************************* Sandy Grave ************************* Welcome to the Egyptian painting, this is one of the new, original areas that IGA decided to make in this game. Head right to find a Warp Room, head right again. Kill the Mummies as they appear, and keep going right. Kill the Mummies and Devil Wheels as they appear. Keep going right and climb the sand dune. SURPRISE!!! A Sand Worm just came to ruin your fun, kill it and go stand where the Sand Worm was, allow yourself to sink in the sand. Drop down to get your first HP Max Up! Head back up and continue to the right. Red Skeletons are invincible so attack them, run over them and get away from them. Grab the Steel Whip and jump up to the top of this statue. Head right to find a Save Room, go ahead and save, now head back and go down. Go right through the narrow passage and keep going right. Head down now to find a lot of Red Skeletons and a lot of money, go right at the bottom. Kill the Amphisbaena, and keep going right. When you step on the platforms in this room the statue may or may not shoot lasers at you, it depends on if there's a money sitting on it. Grab the money and backdash quickly, then jump over the platform to advance. Make sure you grab the Diamond Brooch as well on your way. In the next room, go all the way to the bottom and go left, go through the Warp Room to find a Save Room, save it if you want. In the previous room, go right through the halfway point, kill the Ghosts and Elgiza as the appear. In the next room, kill the Mummies and the Dragon Zombie. In the next room, kill the White Dragon and go right. Kill the White Dragon at the top and get behind him to get an MP Max Up. Go left at the top to get to the next room. In this room, you need to jump over the balls as they roll towards you, jump into the spaces in the ceiling to make it easier. Make sure you climb up in between balls, head left when you get past them. In this room, kill the Mimic and then grab the High Potion. In the next room go left, killing Mummies and Ectoplasms along the way. Kill the Spittle Bones as they appear as they will annoy you, at the bottom kill the White Dragon and grab the money that's behind it, work your way to the top now. Grab the 1,000 Blades at the top and go back down now. Head back through the Mummy room, now kill the Fleamen as they are ALWAYS annoying. Go through the top. Now before you go right, we're gonna backtrack to the left. Kill everything as you work your way to the top. On the right is some money, on the left is Clear Skies. You can go back and save if you want, otherwise head back to the right. Enter Brauner: When you enter the room to the right of where you came back up, you'll find a pale man with red eyes, meet Brauner, the lord of the castle at the moment. He is surprised by the fact you are IN the painting. With him are Loretta and Stella, and they provide backup. Jonathan actually says something smart in identifying Brauner. Stella demands that Jonathan show her father some respect. Brauner makes the usual demonic "we're-better-than- humans" insult. Now Jonathan goes back into stupidity, he wants to know if Brauner's trying to revive Dracula, and just what he's doing this fine afternoon inside an Egyptian pyramid. Loretta and Stella act all snobbish. Charlotte acts as the usual brains of this outfit and realizes that Brauner does not wish to revive Dracula. Brauner makes a comment about how many times Dracula has failed (thanks to Alucard and countless Belmonts). Brauner decides that it's up to somebody else to control humanity, and who better than he? He makes it seem like he's doing a charity by making his actions for the sake of his own daughters. Brauner then makes a comment about how "Humans bring death and ruin to everything of beauty." WWII allusion anyone? Jonathan wants to know why the castle is here if Dracula isn't. Brauner reveals his plans to use Dracula's immense power to augment his own, so he can reshape the world in his image. Charlotte realizes that Brauner only wishes to use Dracula's power, and how it should be impossible to seperate Dracula from his power. Brauner proves her wrong, by saying paintings are how he will steal Dracula's power. Stella does another demonic insult towards humans and Jonny gets pissed. Loretta wants to fight you but Brauner will not let her. Brauner comments about how Dracula's servant is sniffing around HIS castle, so they go off to search for Death. Another insult and Brauner disappears. Charlotte says most ordinary people would go mad if they merely looked at Brauner, Jonny wants to use the whip and is denied yet again. Head right now, from the platform in the middle of the room, use the Acrobat+Stone of Flight combo to perform a triple jump and get on the ledge to your right, head right and grab the Bwaka Knife. Head down and go to the right now. There's another Sand Worm in the next room, kill it you can't go down after you kill it so go right and kill the Corpseweed, grab the Bahg Nahk and head back left again. This time go up the left side and go through the passages. Kill the Devil Wheels and Ghosts on your way up. Watch out for the falling columns, they hurt, anyway in the next room pick up the Pumpkin Pie and go up, grab the Crystal Necklet and go left to find a Save Room. Go back down and head left, kill the Persephone and keep going left. There's another Elgiza in the next room so kill it and move on. The next room is a Warp Room. Go left again, and then up in the next room. Kill the tower of Bone Pillars and grab the Steel Ball that's behind them. Now jump up onto the platform above you to get a High Potion, and move right. Head up at the top of the room, kill everything as you move up in the next room. Kill everything in this room and go right, through the passageway. Kill the Amphisbaena and move right. Go through the passage and step on the switch in the next room to lower a blockade. Head up, kill the Skull Archers and jump to the right, grab the Uncurse Potion and go left now. Kill the Crossbow Armor but watch out for his attacks, they hurt, go up now. There's a Skull Archer right next to you so jump and kill it. Head upwards, killing everything as you go up. In the lower left corner is the way to a Warp Room, and the upper left corner goes to a Save Room, save your game and continue upwards. ************************* Astarte ************************* Stats: 1,500 HP 3000 EXP Attacks: Charms Jonathan, shoots green balls of pain, shoots unseen air you, lunges at you and tries to stab you with a staff. My Equipment: Jonathan: Weapon: Axe Subweapon: Steel Ball Body: Kalasiris Head: Bandana Legs: Iron Leggings Accessory 1: Cape Accessory 2: Studded Choker Charlotte: Weapon: Don Quixote Spell: Gale Force Body: Kalasiris Head: Thick Glasses Legs: Inuit Boots Accessory 1: Crystal Necklet Accessory 2: Diamond Brooch Dual Strike: 1,000 Blades Strategy: Use Charlotte for this fight, use her spells to cause pain. Use 1,000 Blades, use Tonics or let your MP heal normally while you wait to use another 1,000 Blades. You can easily spam 1,000 Blades to win this fight with ease. Just keep your distance and her attacks are useless. If for some unknown reason Jonathan gets charmed anyway, spam Gale Force instead of 1,000 Blades. Go back and save. Go through the boss room, drop down twice and get the Strength Glove. Go back to the Save Room. Go down a room, we're going somewhere we missed on our way to fight Astarte. Remember to be careful around Crossbow Armors, they can do more damage than Astarte could've dreamed of doing. Go down and grab the High Tonic. Watch out for the Fleamen and Ghosts, go down again. Go right in the next room to find the Charm Necklace. Triple jump onto the platform and grab the Glamorous Pumps, equip them and backtrack to the nearest Warp Room, we're finished here. ************************* Great Stairway Pt. 2 ************************* I've got a strategy for money farming courtesy of Michael Berry, I claim no credit. "Dawn of Sorrow had a similar room to this. First, teleport to the GreatStairway. Then, exit right. Now, jump up to the top of the room, and exit to the right. The enemies in the room are Persephone's. They are all very weak, and rarely will you get damaged by them. They drop 2 items, the important one being Frilly Camisole. Run in and out of this room, collecting Frilly Camisole. A full load (9) of them yields around 22,250 gold from the shop. Also, a strange thing I noticed, is that when you're using your main attack, if you continue running through the room with the attack (sword, whip, etc.) gold will start dropping from the candleholders. But, if you use a skill to attack (ricochet rock, arrows, etc.) the candleholders only give hearts. I think, the best option would be to farm this area, using your main attack, to save up for the mastery ring (the 200,000 gold item in the shop) then equip that for skill building." Farm until you're content or you can choose to do it later. The choice is yours. Anyway go back through the big room and go up the first opportunity you get. At the top of this room, go right first, you'll see a Great Armor, kill it and move on. Kill the Lerajie in the next room and grab the Goggles. Go back 2 rooms and head left now. At the far left of this room, grab the MIND Boost. Kill everything as you move through. In the next room, kill the Skelerang as you move up. Go left through the empty room, go left again to find a Warp Room. Go left at the top of the room because you can't do anything to the right. Kill the Persephone as you move through this room, go through the empty room. You'll find Hill Guards here, kill 10 of them if you're doing the quest. Jump on the bottom platform, double jump over to your left, not straight up, kill the Skull Archer and grab the Poncho. Keep going down the stairs, killing Hill Guards as you go, you can't reach the second platform down so go for the third on and grab the tonic after you kill the Skull Archer. At the bottom, kill the Skeleton Flail and move right, killing Skeleton Flails and Lerajie as you go, move up now and grab the Tome of Arms 2 and equip it. Now go back to the top and go up the platforms. Jump to the left onto the hanging platform and grab the STR Boost. At the bottom again, go left to find more of the stairway, kill Hill Guards as you move down. Jump up the second platform up and jump left to get the Monocle, continue down the stairway. If you time your jump perfectly off of the stairway, you can reach a ledge wich contains a Skelerang and an Uncurse Potion. At the bottom, kill the Glasya Labolas and move right. Kill the Skeleton Flails along the way. Kill the Mimic above you and grab the HP Max Up. Go all the way left on the bottom to find your way to the beginning of the Great Staiway. What we want to do is go back to the first big stairway room and go through the door from the top stairway. Kill the Lilith at the beginning of this room and Go all the way to the top of this section, killing everything on your way to the top, when you finally get to the top you'll find a Sequined Dress. Go back to the bottom of this section. Go left now and kill the Crossbow Armor, keep going left. In the next room, kill the Liliths as you move down, jump over and grab the Iron Plate. Kill the Mimic in the middle of the room, time your jumps carefully and grab the Whip Knuckles. Work your way to the bottom of this room, drop down and head right. You'll now be on the top stairway of the second stairway room, work your way up and hit the switch to allow easy passage for the rest of your days. Go back and head to the top of the Lilith room, go left to find a Warp Room. What we're going to do now is find a shortcut back to the Entrance, in the middle of the Lilith room, go through the passage, killing the Liliths and Crossbow Armor. Go through the door and head left. Keep going through the Larva infested room and continue. You can't move the block at the top so head down. Kill the Spittle Bones along the way, at the bottom, you'll find Slingers. Go right, in the next room is an Invisible Man and a Great Armor, kill them both and proceed. In the next room, you'll find Knee Strike. Backtrack 2 rooms into the Spittle Bone and Slinger room. Head through the door in the middle of the room. Go through the passage, in the next room, jump up to the top platform. Kill the Lilith and grab the Laurel Brooch, go back down. Work your way to the bottom of the room and drop down. Head left twice to find yourself in the room outside of Wind's. Warp to the room above the Lilith room, head up the stairs to find a Save Room, go right from the Save room to find the next painting. ************************* Nation of Fools ************************* Unlike the first two portraits, you're presented with two paths right from the start. I took the left path first so I'll put it here first. The walkthrough here may be confusing because of the multiple paths that even the inital paths have, I'm going to try to make it as simple as possible. Left Path: Go left from the portrait, go through the empty room and you'll find the first room with enemies. Kill the Harpy and go up, at the top go left, watch out for the Slime and kill the Armor Knights as you move up. In the next room, kill the Killer Clowns and go up through the second bombed out building (?), kill the Lerajie and move left. Wait until the Flaming Skulls rotate and go through to find the Grenade. Go back to the bottom of this room, go up all the way to the left, watch out for the flaming skulls, go up through the hole. This room defies gravity as you should see at the beginning, jump up but watch out for the pendulum. Triple jump at the right side of the room, go left and grab the Battle Jacket. At the far left is an Armor Knight, kill it and go up. At the top of this room, go left again. Go up and right. Keep going right, the next room is a Save Room, go ahead and save it, when you're done move up. Go left to find a Moon Brooch. Go up from here go all the way to the top and head right. Go up again, there's nothing below you. Go left twice and then up. In the next room, take any path to get to the top. At the far right of the next room is some Corn Soup, just watch out for the Flaming Skulls as you grab it. Now get to the top of the screen and head right. In the next room, head all the way to the right side, drop down and grab the Rotten Durian. Head right twice and you'll find a Warp Room. Head right through the next room killing the Coppelia's, head right again to find the Volcano Dual Crush. In the previous room, drop down and head left. In the next room, grab the MP Max Up. Drop down, head right and drop down again. Drop all the way to the bottom of this room to find the Critical Art. Head left to find a Save Room, save it and head right now. Head right to find a Warp Room. Warp to the previous Warp Room and backtrack all the way to the room where found the Moon Brooch. Go back through the last room, heading right. Watch out for the pendulum and move up. Keep going up, avoiding Fleamen and more Flaming Skulls, all the way to the top, you'll find an HP Max Up here. Go down and go through the Flaming Skulls. Head right, in the next screen, watch out for Flying Armors. Keep going right, going around some annoying obstacles. In the next room, go to the bottom and drop down. Go right to find Spaghetti, go back and go left to find Pasta Carbonara. Go all the way to the bottom of this room, dodge all the pendulums. Go left twice, down once and left again to find a Warp Room, drop down again to find yourself back in the Portrait Room. This time, we're going to take the right path. Right Path: The right is ridiculously simple, go right from the portrait room, then go up, left now, and you'll find yourself in a familiar room. The reason I did this is to focus your attention more on the left side and then go through in detail the areas we missed that are on the right side of the map. Go up from the Warp Room that's right above the painting, now go right 3 rooms. In the next room, go down go right to find a Save Room, drop down again and grab $2000. Go right twice, kill the Harpy and go up, go right at the top of the room. Kill the Armor Knights as you work your way to the right side, go right again. Get up to the upper left corner of this room and grab the Dancer's Blouse. Now get up to the upper right corner, when you get to the top head left and grab the Silk Hat, go up now. Work your way to the top of this room and grab the High Potion, head right to move on. Go up and left in the next room, go left again. The next room is a Save Room, go up after you're done here. In this room, work you're way to the right side, there's a pendulum to dodge and a Spittle Bone to kill, anyway at the right side is an HP Max Up. In this room, you have two choices to go up, go up the right side, at the top go up again, grab the $2000 in the next room and head left. Go left again, go to the far left of the next room and drop down. Go down until you see the Flaming Skulls, grab the tonic and clear the rest of the room out. If you go left, you'll work your way back the big room in the middle, so go down instead. Grab the MP Max Up and 2 rooms. Go up from the room with the random Larva. Go right twice, then go up and left. Work your way to the top of this room and go up. Go left right after you enter the next room, kill the Slime and White Dragon, grab the High Tonic and go up to the middle level. Go left through some pendulums and grab the Spiked Boots. Now head up to the top level and go left. Work you way to the left in the next room and go left. You can't grab the item in the next room so don't even try. Go up and left twice and you'll find yourself back on the Left Path! Now go back to the Save Room above the middle room and save it, prepare for the boss fight. ************************* Legion ************************* Stats: 2000 HP 4000 EXP Attacks: He moves around, bodies will detach from the main unit and shuffle towards you, he shoots lasers. My Equipment: Jonathan: Weapon: Long Spear Subweapon: Grenade Body: Kalasiris Head: Bandana Legs: Iron Leggings Accessory 1: Hero's Cape Accessory 2: Studded Choker Charlotte: Weapon: Tome of Arms 2 Spell: Ice Fang Body: Kalasiris Head: Goggles Legs: Glamourous Pumps Accessory 1: Moon Brooch Accessory 2: Diamond Brooch Dual Crush: 1,000 Blades Strategy: To start the boss fight, drop down and grab the Cog. Have both characters out, control Charlotte when bodies fall. Just let Jonathan go crazy on the Legion but keep an eye on your MP. When bodies start falling down, wait a second and unleash Ice Fang to take them all down. Attack a part of it until it disappears, do that until you can attack the center, attack the center part of it with 1,000 Blades from a platform and you'll make short work of it. Now that Legion's dead, warp to above the portrait and return to the Castle. Warp to the Great Stairway, the one that's right next to the big stairway rooms. Go up and head right, kill everything along the way, when you get to a room with a glowing wall, call out your partner while you're pushing it and push it all the way back. Walk away from it and let it move the switch in place. Go up and then right. ************************* Tower of Death ************************* The first room contains Skeleton Gunmen and a Skeleton Flail, jump to dodge the Gunmen's blast and attack them to kill them, proceed right when you're done. In the next room, attack right wall right in front of you to get a Tasty Meat. Move up now, killing everything you see.
To your right is a Warp Room, keep going up for now, at the top
go left to find a Save Room, save it and drop back down to the
bottom of this room. Go left through the boss door to initiate a
cutscene.

Talking with Stella: Stella's tired of waiting for you, so it's good you
got here sooner than later! Jonathan is apparently blind to all that's
in front of him, and asks the vampire to show itself. Stella calls you a
mortal, as if that automatically makes you evil. She taunts you and
Charlotte is theoretically analyzing the situation. Stella says some
cliche dialogue about literally ripping you to pieces. She must get
off on gore. Prepare for the fighting.

Stats: 2500 HP
Attacks: Sends green energy flying at you from the ground, slashes
the air and a shockwave follows, attacks with sword, sends
crescents flying at you.
My Equipment:
Jonathan:
Weapon: Long Spear
Subweapon: Rocket Slash
Body: Kalasiris
Head: Bandana
Legs: Iron Leggings
Accessory 1: Hero's Cape
Accessory 2: Studded Choker

Charlotte:
Weapon: Tome of Arms 2
Spell: Gale Force
Body: Kalasiris
Head: Goggles
Legs: Glamorous Pumps
Accessory 1: Moon Brooch
Accessory 2: Diamond Brooch

Dual Crush: Volcano

Strategy: Only use Jonathan for this fight, her attacks are primarily
physical but she's not too weak to Charlotte's attacks. You'll know
what attack she's going to use because she'll say it, when she yells
"Hurricane" prepare for the shockwave attack. When she says
"Secrets Furious Wind" double jump when she attacks. When she
says "Cresent Bow" she'll make the cresents dodge them when they
fly at you, they're extremely slow. She's easy to take down once you
know what attacks she'll use. Just attack her when you see an opening,
which is fairly often. She'll go down eventually if you remember to use
Volcano.

After the fight you get another cutscene, Stella is dumbfounded as to
how you defeated her (most storyline bosses do this), then Jonny
wants to throw in a deathblow but Loretta stops him with her magic.
Loretta drops in as Stella's angsting about her pain. Loretta comes
here to save her, and to partially scold her for leaving the painting.
Stella actually says you're a "threat", amazing how characters change
as soon as you defeat them. Loretta decides that they'll return to
their painting. Loretta turns to you and tells you that if you keep
playing the game, they'll show you no mercy. Death threat! Are
you gonna take that from her? For now you are. They drop
a locket as they leave. From across the room, Charlotte can
tell that there's a photo inside. In the photo, you see Wind, next
to him are Stella and Loretta. PLOT TWIST!!! Charlotte tells you
that you should ask him about it.

For now, go left and you'll initiate another cutscene, Charlotte
says that the cog you found in the Nation of Fools can be used
here. Jonathan puts it in and it opens up this passage. Head back
to the Warp Room and teleport to the Entrance.

*************************
Entrance Pt. 3
*************************
Head to Wind's Room.

Jonny starts asking questions. Charlotte tells Wind to look at the photo,
Wind gets a pale look on his face from that that (*RIMSHOT*).
Charlotte demands an explanation, and after a pause, Wind gives it to
you. Wind's real name is Eric Lecarde, and if you're a true Castlevania
fan, you'll realize that he was the second playable character in Castlevania:
Bloodlines for the Genesis. Jonny knows that he fought alongside his father.
Wind tells you that John was his best friend, and Charlotte cuts right to the
chase, why he's with Stella and Loretta. Eric you sly devil, you never told
me you had kids. Jonathan can't grasp his mind around the fact that they
call Brauner "father" and yet Eric just told you they're his daughters.
Eric reveals that Brauner's real daughters died in WW1. Brauner used
the power that was awoken to become a vampire. Eric shows some weird
logic that Brauner uses, as Brauner believes that his daughters were reborn
as Eric's daughters. Jonny thinks Brauner stole Eric's daughters, how stupid
can you get? Eric reveals that since Brauner has his daughters back, he
can exact revenge on humans. Jonny attributes the Lecarde blood to the funny
stuff the whip was doing. Charlotte gets it all now, realizing that if Eric
fought next to John, he would know how to unlock the Vampire Killer. Eric
knows how, but there's a 'but' involved, and that's never pretty in video
games. Jonny's cutting right to the chase, if a Morris is to use the Vampire
Killer, he needs the power of a Lecarde. But there's a problem, Eric's dead,
and his daughter's have become vampires, fine pickle you're in. Jonny thinks all
is lost, and then he angsts about the meaninglessness of his title as heir
of the whip. Eric now tries to tell Jonny why John died, both Jonny and
Charlotte think it's because of mortal wounds he suffered while stopping
Dracula's resurrection, Eric simply says "You're wrong..." and then
proceeds to tell you. If somebody's not a Belmont, the only way to use
the true power of the Vampire Killer is to give up a part of their life. That's
why the Lecarde's are there, to be the key that unlocks that power, to
make sure it's only used during a time of need. John used it too much,
and as a consequence, he's now dead. Jonny looks angry and then tries
to blame John's death on the whip. Eric says that's why John didn't want
to teach Jonny how to use it, John wanted Jonathan to know how to
survive without using the whip. Eric then tries to console Jonny for
all this previously unknown information about John. Jonny as always
just doesn't quite understand everything. But he does bring up some
great points, why the Belmont's gave the whip to the Morrises is a
good question he brings up. Eric answers the question, the Belmonts
can't touch the whip right now because it is prophesized that Dracula
will be resurrected in 1999, and if you've played Aria or Sorrow, it's
revealed that Julius Belmont, with the help of the Belnades clan,
Hakuba clan, and Alucard destroy Dracula's physical being and seal his
soul within a complete solar eclipse. Even though the Belmonts may not
be the ones who can keep Dracula at bay should there be those who
wish to revive him, there must be somebody, and that job was taken
by Quincy Morris in Dracula, and since then, the Morris family has
been the primary Vampire Hunters. Jonny feels better now that he
knows the truth, Jonny then asks if Eric approves of the job, because
in the process they will hurt his daughters. Charlotte comes up with
a solution, a purification spell, too bad we don't have one of those,
right now anyway. But not even Eric knew how to purify his own
daughters, and he asks for forgiveness.

Let's head back to the Tower of Death now.

*************************
Tower of Death Pt. 2
*************************
Go back through the room where you fought Stella, head left again.
This next room is the infamous Motorcycle Sequence, it's not even
hard when you follow my godly instructions. I always put Charlotte
in the bottom, to make things easier for yourself, do it too. Have
Jonny get on the top bike and away we go. IMMEDIATELY switch
to Charlotte and crouch, then switch to Jonathan quickly, have him
crouch too. Switch back to Charlotte and crouch once more, this
time switch back to Jonathan and when the obstacle comes, jump.
DON'T SWITCH CHARACTERS!!!! Stay Jonathan and crouch,
that's the end of that room. Move on to the left.

Are you happy that that's over now? Anyway, in the next room, get
on the water carriers, ignore the first room on your left, we can't do
anything here right now. Grab the Halberd on your way up, as tempted
as you may be, don't go through that door on your right yet, we've got
stuff to do at the top still. Keep riding up, the next door on your right is
a Save Room, save it and go up a square to find a Warp Room to your
right, and a painting to your left. Ignore those and go through the top,
kill the Crossbow Armor and Killer Doll and grab Taunt. Go through
the painting now to enter the Forest of Doom!

"There's actually an easy way to kill Keremet (Great Stairway boss).
To do so, jump onto the pot itself, and start whacking the pot from on
top of the edge of it. Keremet will pops his head out soon, but if you're
standing on the edge, you can avoid being hit. He can shoot balls and
summon small slimes for all he likes, but the place you're standing would
be a blind spot that these balls and slimes can never hit. Keep slashing
away until he retreats, and then repeat the process until he's gone. You
can finish him off without losing any health, and without using any magic or
combo."

characters out, control Charlotte when bodies fall. Just let Jonathan go crazy
on the Legion but keep an eye on your MP. When bodies start falling down,
wait a second and unleash Ice Fang to take them all down. Attack a part of
it until it disappears, do that until you can attack the center, attack the
center part of it with 1,000 Blades from a platform and you'll make short
work of it.

*************************
Stella
*************************
Stats: 2500 HP
Attacks: Sends green energy flying at you from the ground, slashes
the air and a shockwave follows, attacks with sword, sends
crescents flying at you.
My Equipment:
Jonathan:
Weapon: Long Spear
Subweapon: Rocket Slash
Body: Kalasiris
Head: Bandana
Legs: Iron Leggings
Accessory 1: Hero's Cape
Accessory 2: Studded Choker

Charlotte:
Weapon: Tome of Arms 2
Spell: Gale Force
Body: Kalasiris
Head: Goggles
Legs: Glamorous Pumps
Accessory 1: Moon Brooch
Accessory 2: Diamond Brooch

Dual Crush: Volcano

Strategy: Only use Jonathan for this fight, her attacks are primarily
physical but she's not too weak to Charlotte's attacks. You'll know
what attack she's going to use because she'll say it, when she yells
"Hurricane" prepare for the shockwave attack. When she says
"Secrets Furious Wind" double jump when she attacks. When she
says "Cresent Bow" she'll make the cresents dodge them when they
fly at you, they're extremely slow. She's easy to take down once you
know what attacks she'll use. Just attack her when you see an opening,
which is fairly often. She'll go down eventually if you remember to use
Volcano.
