Legit questions: You haven't written about them yet...but how do I beat *insert monster here* or You missed a monster! in *insert area here* you missed *insert monster here* and I will go back and try to find it. MAJOR spelling errors (not if I forgot to capitalize an i) spelling error: section, monster/area, what I spelled wrong, the correct spelling ************************* =-*'*-= Basically, I'm writing this in-depth guide or FAQ...I guess it falls between the two...for those of us that absolutely hate the random battles in Skies of Arcadia Legends. Since I started a new game and accidentally saved over my old game (stupid me...I was so ticked...) I'm starting with the earlier monsters and will cover up to the ones I remember. I'm only just past Valua right now (which, considering I've only spent 4 hours on it, is pretty darn good!) and I have tons of monsters for ya! I've separated them by place or dungeon or time, so you don't have to go searching too hard. =-*'*-= Not that it's extremely large, but I included a search function for this for those people too lazy to look for themselves (like me ^_^) Press Ctrl-F at the same time and it will pull up a "find" box. Type in the word in that's in parentheses after each section. =-*'*-= If Area is after a section, that means that it covers the area around what it is after. If the section says an ocean or an airspace, that means the monsters which are generally encountered in that ocean or airspace. Anything else is either a temple or someplace special that you can run into random battles...I haven't come across one yet =================== +Table of Contents+ =================== Section 1- Introduction and How to read my guide (FAQ_intro) Section 2- Magic, S. Moves, and attacks (FAQ_attacks) Section 3- Random Battle monsters (FAQ_guide) -Beginning of game/Mid Ocean -The Albatross -Shrine Island -Mid Ocean -Sailor's Island area -Valuan airspace -Valuan Airspace -The Catacombs -strategy to beating catacomb monsters -The Railcar -Nasr Airspace -Maramba area -Temple of Pyrynn -How to beat the Magma Tikis -South Ocean Section 4 -Acknowledgements (FAQ_thanks) ------------------------------------------------------------- ======================================= =========== +1-Introduction & How to read my guide+ (FAQ_intro) ======================================= =========== Thank you for clicking on my guide and reading it ^_____^ I appreciate it. I have spent a lot of time on this, and I hope it is effective for you, and helps you out. Random battles can be extremely annoying, and the monsters can be quite difficult if you don't know how to beat them. In this in-depth FAQ/Guide I included a list of magic spells and properties, S. Moves, and attacks which make beating the battles easier and are necessary for beating them. Remember, if you can beat the random monsters for each stage then you will have no problem beating the bosses. =-*'*-= This guide can be confusing if you don't understand how I wrote it... so I have included for you an explanation of how I formatted the info on the monsters. The area I will call the Mid Ocean is the area surrounding Pirate Isle, and is walled off by sky rifts...The Sailor Isle area is past the tunnel that you must go through in order to get to sailor's isle and before you get to Nasr, and also is walled off by sky rifts. Valua is easy because if you look up above you there should be black clouds. So long as there are, you are in Valua. Nasr is any area that has low visibility due to dust in the air, extending to Nasrad. Yafutoman airspace is really just what extends from the dark rift (not too close though) to the sky rifts leading back to Esperanza. South Ocean is...self explanatory, as is North ocean, and anything that is Ixa'Takan is the area where there are leaves flying around. Dark rift area is anywhere around the dark rift, and inside of the Esperanza area. Lands of ice is over the ice, and areas such as inside of the dark rift and the entrance to the Maw of Tartas areas are considered dungeons. The area surrounding Crescent Isle is I guess just...well it's its own area...I'll call it Crescent Isle area, and the area which the Dark Rift intersects and is walled off by a sky rift where the looper's nest is Looper Land (which is what Qax named it in their world map .gif which is available also under the in-depth FAQ section of the SoAL gamefaqs site, where you got my FAQ). !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !NOTE! Since the creators lacked creativity, the monsters are repetitive. Take Looper for example...Loopers will start out one color, and change the name and color and tweak the power a bit but it's still the same. there will also usually be a hint of the original monster's name in the new monster's name (i.e. looper-loopalon-Blooper) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ******************************************* Name of monster - +Magic property color+ -amount of health -what doesn't affect it -what does affect it -attributes -more attributes (if there are any) -attacks -s-moves (if there are any) -difficulty -tips (if there are any) -------- comments: ******************************************* If the monster is Silver, then it is affected equally by all colors except yellow, which hurts it a lot; if there isn't one of the categories listed, that means that there wasn't any (like s-moves or tips or attributes) That's how I wrote them, and it makes them easy to read that way if you don't think so, then feel free to e-mail me and tell me. =-*'*-= I also wrote a magic spell section, and they are listed like this... +Color+ -element ------------------------------------------ Spell(spirit needed) What the spell does Spell(spirit needed) What the spell does Spell(spirit needed) What the spell does Spell(spirit needed) What the spell does Spell(spirit needed) What the spell does --------------------------------------------------------------- ============================== ============= +Magic, S. Moves, and attacks+ (FAQ_attacks) ============================== ============= In Skies of Arcadia: Legends there are normal attacks, magic attacks, and super moves. I'll start first with Magic, since it ties in with the other two. There are six properties of magic (green, red, purple, blue, yellow, and silver). Each area of magic has a different property. Each monster has a different magical property color to it. You can change each of your weapons to a different magical color/property. When selecting a target for an attack (physical, magical, or super move) on the right side of the screen there is a list of all the enemies that you are facing, and on the left and top of the box there is a color tint. That color tint represents the color property of the monster (NOT THE COLOR OF THE MONSTER ITSELF, THIS CAN BE MISLEADING). +++++ Magic +++++ In each magic category there are two magic spells. One is the main spell which has four different strengths, and one or two stat-altering spell of which there are two. The main spell's strength is shown by its suffix (which gets longer each time). The suffixes are: 1. -i, 2. -es, 3. -um, 4. -ulen, -len, or -en. The stat-altering spells don't really have suffixes. Each spell takes only one MP but takes a certain amount of spirit to cast. (sp 2) means that that particular spell takes 2 spirit points to cast. Towards the beginning of the game magic isn't as useful, but toward the middle and end it becomes a necessity. Random battles allow you to learn spells and get more powerful so they aren't really that bad overall, just a pain. Now onto the spells... +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Spells ~~~~~~ +Green+ -Health ------------------------------------------ Sacri(sp 2) Restores 500 hp to one person Noxi(sp 3) Small damage, potentially poisons one enemy Sacres(sp 4) Restores 1,000 hp to one person Noxus (sp 6) Small damage, potentially poisons all enemies Sacrum (sp 8) Restores 1,000 hp to party Sacrulen (sp 6) Restores all hp for one person ------------------------------------------ +Red+ -Fire ------------------------------------------ Pyri(sp 2) Small damage to all enemies Increm(sp 4) Raises At and De of one person 25% Pyres(sp 4) Moderate damage to all enemies Pyrum(sp 6) Heavy damage to all enemies Pyrulen(sp 10) Extreme damage to all enemies Incremus(sp 16) Raises At and De of party 25% ------------------------------------------ +Purple+ -Ice ------------------------------------------ Crystali(sp 1) Small damage to one enemy Crystales(sp 2) Moderate damage to one enemy Sylenis(sp 2) Can prevent one enemy from casting magic Panika(sp 3) Can confuse one enemy Crystalum(sp 3) Heavy damage to one enemy Crystalen(sp 4) Extreme damage to one enemy ------------------------------------------ +Blue+ -Wind ------------------------------------------ Wevli(sp 2) Small damage to enemies in a vicinity Quika(sp 6) Raises the quick of party Wevles(sp 4) Moderate damage to enemies in a vicinity Slipara(sp 6) Can put all enemies to sleep Wevlum(sp 6) Heavy damage to enemies in a vicinity Wevlen(sp 8) Extreme damage to enemies in a vicinity ------------------------------------------ +Yellow+ -Lightning ------------------------------------------ Electri(sp 2) Small damage to enemies lined up Driln(sp 3) Lowers At and De of one enemy by 25% Electres(sp 4) Moderate damage to enemies lined up Electrum(sp 6) Heavy damage to enemies lined up Drilnos(sp 6) Lowers At and De of all enemies by 25% Electrulen(sp 8) Extreme damage to enemies in a wide line ------------------------------------------ +Silver+ -Life and Death ------------------------------------------ Curia(sp 2) Cures all but unconscious for one person Risan(sp 4) Has a 50% chance of reviving one person along with 50% of their health Eterni(sp 5) Can kill one enemy instantly Riselem(sp 8) Revives one person to full health Eternes(sp 10) Can kill all enemies instantly Eternum(sp 15) Will either kill instantly or cause extreme damage ------------------------------------------ ++++++++ S. Moves ++++++++ A Super Move is a powerful attack that one character can cast and is unique to that character, and get more powerful as that character levels up. Enemies have these too, but they aren't nearly as powerful. Bosses have them, and abuse them; therefore, you must learn to abuse them as well. At the very beginning of the game you don't have any special moves, but throughout the game you will get items called Moonberries, which allow you to learn new S. Moves. Some take more than others. I will list them by character, then by the order which they give them and the Spirit required in order to cast them. For the three main characters (Vyse, Aika, and Fina) there are five S. Moves each, and for the lesser characters (Drachma, Gilder, and Enrique) there are three. About halfway through the game (Sometime close before Yafutoma) you get two new party special moves. They each take your maximum sp. these will be listed at the end. For the main characters the special moves take... First s. move -- One Moonberry Second s. move -- One Moonberry Third s. move -- Two Moonberries Fourth s. move -- Two Moonberries Fifth s. move -- Four Moonberries and the secondary character's s. moves take... First s. move -- One Moonberry Second s. move -- Two Moonberries Third s. move -- Four Moonberries ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Vise's s. moves are the more powerful ones. ++++++++++++++ Cutlass Fury(sp 7) Vyse pummels his enemy with a few small hits and then one large hit causing heavy damage to that one enemy. Counterstrike(sp 1) Vyse guards against everything and counters physical attacks. Rain of Swords(sp 14) Vyse flies up in the air, and releases a whole bunch of fireballs down on all of the enemies. Skull Shield(sp 5) Vyse calls on a dead pirate to defend and counter for your party. Pirates Wrath(sp 21) Vyse sends a shockwave at one enemy and then slices a skull shape into them, causing severe damage. ++++++++++++++ Aika's s. moves aren't powerful at all, but are meant more for backup and assistance, and are also mostly area attacks, making them very good for random encounters. They are also named after Greek letters...o__O someone in the naming department was lacking creativity I see o_o. ++++++++++++++ Alpha Storm(sp 4) Aika spins her boomerang and causes a cyclone to damage all enemies in a triangle from her. Delta Shield(sp 2) Aika forms a shield around each person that deflects magic (that is directed toward your person, not when you cast it. If you cast Increm it will be blocked, but it won't block Pyri) Lambda Burst(sp 8) Aika summons flames that damage all enemies. Epsilon Mirror(sp 10) Aika creates a shield around her that restores and restores 10 mp for her. Omega Psyclone(sp 12) Aika summons flames that severely damage all enemies ++++++++++++++ Fina's s. moves aid mostly with healing, and take a LOT of spirit. ++++++++++++++ Lunar Blessing(sp 12) Fina grants regeneration to everyone. (after each turn each person regains around 200 health). Lunar Glyph(sp 3) Fina damages and most of the time will stone one enemy. Lunar Cleansing(sp 18) Fina will cure everything but unconscious for the party Lunar Winds(sp 6) Fina will damage all enemies and take away any beneficial effects (Increm, Quika...etc) Lunar Light(sp 18) The ultimate healing spell...Fina will cure everything and restore full health to the entire party ++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Drachma's s. moves are very powerful, but only hurt one enemy at a time. ++++++++++++++ Tackle(sp 10) Drachma will charge and heavily damage one enemy Spirit Charge(sp 0) Drachma will do a large focus and guard Hand of Fate(sp 25) Drachma will either kill or severely damage one enemy ++++++++++++++ Gilder's s. moves are similar to Aika's...they aren't too powerful but are good for those annoying random battles. ++++++++++++++ Gunslinger(sp 9) Gilder heavily damages all enemies in a line. Aura of Denial(sp 3) Gilder guards against status changes for the party The Claudia(sp 18) Gilder heavily damages all enemies. ++++++++++++++ Enrique's s. moves are like Vise's, powerful but mostly only to one person ++++++++++++++ Royal Blade(sp 8) Enrique slashes at one enemy causing heavy damage Justice Shield(sp 4) Enrique guards for the entire party The Judgment(sp 16) Enrique does extreme damage to one enemy +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Crew s. moves I told you about earlier affect everyone. When you focus or use an Aura of Valor to max out your sp after you get the Delphinus, your run option spins around a few times and is a new icon! click on it, and you will have two options, both are powerful, but prophecy is more powerful. ++++++++++++++ All of your party must be alive and able to fight for this one... ++++++++++++++ Prophecy(max sp) All for characters put their power together to more than severely damage all enemies ++++++++++++++ This one is amusing to watch... ++++++++++++++ Blue Rogues(max sp) Your ship crew will attack and heal at the same time. Some crewmembers heal and some attack...you find out which ones. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++ Attacks +++++++ Each character has three attacks (except for Fina and Gilder). One attack is for close range (a slash,or stab) and one is for long range (Vyse sends a shockwave, Aika throws her boomerang, Cupil attacks, Gilder shoots, Enrique throws an energy bolt, and drachma fires his hand and pulls it back on a rope) and one called a critical hit, which is the most powerful physical attack a person can do. Depending on your At level and your number level, and the weapon you use, your attacks will do more or less damage. Also, depending on which color your enemy is and which color your weapon is, your attack will do more or less damage. Here is a list of what is effective against what Yellow has an advantage over Blue Blue has an advantage over Red Red has an advantage over Green Green has an advantage over Purple Purple has an advantage over Blue Green has an advantage over Yellow Red and Purple are equally effective against each other Silver and Yellow are equally effective against each other --------------------------------------------------------------- ====================== ========= Random Battle Monsters FAQ_guide ====================== ========= This section is what my whole FAQ/guide is about, Random battles. Random Battles are extremely frequent and annoying battles that occur in every area of the game except for towns and some special areas. When you are flying in a ship, there will be random battles, and the monsters will change depending on where you are. During a dungeon there will be random battles--if you can defeat the random monsters in a dungeon, then you can beat the boss, and this is NOT a boss FAQ, there is one already written by Cyril under the In-Depth FAQs section. Since I was a moron and accidentally saved my brand new game over my almost-beaten game, I have to start back at the beginning again, but will take notes on each monster I encounter (it won't take me more than a month and a half to beat the game again) and update this as often as possible, which will probably be every day (so I'm not filling out a version section, and won't bother writing versions either except for the fact that GameFAQs requires it). YOU SHOULD NEVER RUN FROM A BATTLE-----IT HURTS YOUR SWASHBUCKLER RATING In the Introduction to my FAQ, I gave an example of what my monster information will look like and how it is formatted. I will start the way I put it in my Table of Contents... ******************************************* +The Albatross+ ******************************************* When you first start your game, you will take control of your father's ship, the Albatross. When you are flying around, you will want to find some discoveries, and you will encounter your first random battles! con ******************************************* Marroca - +Blue+ -200-300 -red -green -it will spit smoke at one person, or slap them -at the beginning, moderate; toward the end, cake. use green...it works best. -------- comments: They are ugly little squids with snail shells... nothing to fear really ******************************************* Looper - +Silver+ -very low...one hit will kill it -any color will hurt it... -it will spit fire at one person or cast powerful magic -will run A LOT -has an EXTREMELY high dodge rate, it's almost impossible to hurt it with physical attacks -isn't hurt by most magic at all (fire may be the only one...I forgot to test it) -use a special move or have every character hit it, chances are it will run before you get to hurt it. -------- comments: really annoying, especially when you have a lot of them. They heal a lot and will run a lot, and dodge a lot...they are a pain just be diligent and NEVER RUN from them. ******************************************* +Shrine Island+ ******************************************* Your first dungeon! +hooray for you+ not really...well, you now know what a dungeon is like. hooray! the random monsters are easy here...save for the Loopers...man they're a pain...but be optimistic! you can beat them easily. ******************************************* Looper - +Silver+ -very low...one hit will kill it -any color will hurt it... -it will spit fire at one person or cast powerful magic -will run A LOT -has an EXTREMELY high dodge rate, it's almost impossible to hurt it with physical attacks -isn't hurt by most magic at all (fire may be the only one...I forgot to test it) -easy to kill, hard to hit -use a special move or have every character hit it, chances are it will run before you get to hurt it. -------- comments: really annoying, especially when you have a lot of them. There is a "cheat" strategy to these morons toward the end. ******************************************* Crylhound - +Green+ -not a lot...100? -purple -blue and red -they will use yellow magic -they fly at you and bite you -easy -just one hit -------- comments: they look like pokemon...weird... ******************************************* Tsirat - +Purple+ -50-60 -red -yellow, green -it will use Electri a lot -they travel in large groups -they are fast -they just attack -easy -just use a Pyri...one should do it. -------- comments: they travel in large groups and with no other monsters...they are easy though ******************************************* Mind Stealer - +Green+ -200-300 -green and blue -purple and red -high defense -it will come up and bite(?) you -moderate -use Vyse and hit it with red -------- comments: annoying buggers...the hardest random monsters in the catacombs. ******************************************* Basalish - +Red+ -low...don't know exactly -red -Blue and purple -it hits you... -really easy...but only found in the sewer part -no tips...maybe use a Wevli if you have it -------- comments: they are ugly little blobs...just kill them ^_^ ******************************************* +Rail Car+ ******************************************* When you reach upper city, Valua, you will have to hop on the train. you will have to face Valuan guards on your way up to the front of the train. ******************************************* Patrol Guard - +Yellow+ -somewhere around 200 -red -purple or blue -they do something similar to Vyse's long shockwave -Their special moves are actually items... -poison grenade -similar to Noxi -grenade -a giant burst of power -moderate-hard, depending on how many -just hammer them and focus on one at a time. -------- comments: they get to be annoying, but nothing too bad ******************************************* +Nasr Airspace+ ******************************************* +Maramba area+ ******************************************* the Maramba area is the area beyond the boulder reef that's enclosed by sky rifts and mountains and the boulder reef. the rest of Nasr is anywhere near the straits (N. Dannel, S. Dannel) and up to shortly before Crescent Isle but you wont get there till MUCH later. ******************************************* Azbeth - +Blue+ -150 -Red -Green and Purple -Very fast, and usually has first hit -It spits a wind thing at one person -it will call allies, and usually doesn't miss, but also will call more of the most powerful bird monster on the screen -moderate -take them out...its easy -------- comments: make sure you get rid of these FIRST, since they will summon more of them and will usually summon Stonebeaks if they are alive ******************************************* Stonebeak - +Yellow+ -300-400 -Red and purple -red and green -very powerful -dodges often -it will fly at you and hit you causing damage -critical hit: actually extremely powerful...watch out -difficult... -take these out right after the Azbeths... -------- comments: none... ******************************************* Loopalon - +Red+ -very low...one hit will kill it -any color will hurt it... -------- comments: The exact same as Loopers but with more red magic ******************************************* Durel Beetle - +Blue+ -not too much...pretty low -Red -Purple, Yellow -they will use blue magic often, especially Slipara. -They are faster than you in the beginning and hit before you -they just fly up and attack -They will call allies...and usually miss but if they all do it at once then they will have a bunch of new beetles for ya! -Difficult in packs, easy when solitary -Use Pyres on them with Fina and they should die. -------- comments: These buggers are ANNOYING because they come in large groups and keep enlarging themselves. ******************************************* +Temple of Pyrynn+ ******************************************* Very long temple...expect to play for a few hours...and very frequent random battles, that include large monsters...Also--see the END of this portion to find out how to beat the Magma Tikis that guard the chests in this temple. Also, when you reach the bridge area where you have to make your way down a pot-holed pathway the monsters change. ******************************************* Dung Fly - +Blue+ -low...100 maybe -blue or red -green and purple -it's the same as a Durel beetle -is more accurate with Slipara and with calling allies -it just hits you... -Call Allies-self explanatory -fairly easy -one pyres will generally kill these -------- comments: just a dung beetle...it hides behind the dung, giving it good defense ******************************************* Death's Head - +Green+ -300-400 -Green, blue -Red, purple -high defense -it bites(?) you -Stone Breath (will usually stone someone) -moderate-hard -same as the mind stealers, just take them out with Vyse -------- comments: as I explained in the introduction area, monsters repeat themselves. This is a repeat of the mind stealer. ******************************************* Loopalon - +Red+ -very low...one hit will kill it -any color will hurt it... ******************************************* !!MONSTER CHANGE!! remember how I said that the monsters change when you get to that pathway? they change to these salamander things, and sometimes a Loopalon ******************************************* Salamander - +Red+ -100 -red or purple -green or blue -no defense or dodge% really -They bite you -easy -By now you should have pyres, so use it -------- comments: ******************************************* MAGMA TIKIS Guarding the chests in the Temple of Pyrynn, there are these freaky tikis that can be hard but don't have to be. If you were smart and bought Crystales boxes from the mystery merchant in either Sailor's Island or Maramba, you should use one with fina on one of the Tikis, and another Cystales box on another one, and vyse (using purple) a cutlass fury or an attack. They come in groups of three for every time you open a chest. ******************************************* Magma Tiki - +Red+ -400-350 -red -purple -high defense -can't dodge -it shoots lasers out of its eyes -Magma Burst - 500-700 -Tremble...no use (focus?) -easy or hard -reffer to above -------- comments: ******************************************* South Ocean ******************************************* The South Ocean is an area where there is a strong headwind blowing toward your ship making it quite difficult to make it through here. It isn't so bad at first but then the random battles are very frequent. Believe it or not, there isn't much variety to the random monsters here. They are almost all green and so fire magic works well (until you run out of MP ^_^) so just try that. ******************************************* Graver - +Green+ -150 -Green, blue -red and purple -!!!BEWARE!!! they use eternum!!! -very fast and try to run a lot -they shoot the strange little beam at you -HP Absorb - 400-500 (they use it often) -hard in groups, easy when alone -use delta shield (to guard from the eternum) and then use Pyres or Pyrum -------- comments: ******************************************* Elooper - +Green+ -very low...one hit will kill it -any color will hurt it... -------- comments: The exact same as Loopers but more Green magic *******************************************
