      INTRODUCTION

Time to do something a little different. If everything goes well, this will be
my 100th FAQ posted on GameFAQs although I already have more than 100 FAQs that
is under my belt, some just need to be redone before I submit them. What better
way to make FAQ #100 an old school game in anticipation of a new-school game of
the same name coming out in February for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and PSP. The name
of the game is Dante's Inferno for the Commodore 64. Bear in mind that it is
totally different from the modern day Dante's Inferno which is being made by
Electronic Arts.

         STORY
o--------------------o

WELCOME TO HELL! JAJAJAJAJAJAJA! That's right kiddies, ye art trapped here in
hell for all eternity where ye shalt endure the many circles of hell. But ye
shalt not despair, if you should make it through all nine circles and faceth
Lord Satan, ye might escapeth hell and see the stars once more. Is ye brave
enough lads to playeth this game or is ye chicken?

      CONTROLS

Up/Down/left/right = move the player along the screen.
Fire Button = Use left item
Space Button = Use right item

       BRIEFING
o--------------------o

Now the emulator of choice I prefer for Commodore64 is the Hosx64 which has
made loading this game easier than having to type a lof mumbo jumbo on the
BASIC screen.

Your mission is to make it your way towards Satan and escape from hell. I'll
warn you now that the final scene and the ending will anti-climatic.

You get points for every time you pick up an item or pass through to another
area of hell. You'll know when the latter happens when you gain 500 points 
for doing so.

       GAMEPLAY
o---------------------o

This is the Limbo Circle and where the game begins. You will not have to worry 
about any dangers here. Start off by going down to pick up an item and go back
up and go right. Ignore the passage to the next circle and keep moving to pick
up the other item then go back and enter the tunnel. Notice that the level had
a scrolling text that said "Abandon every hope". Once you are in, go left and
drop the first item you received to ride the ferry before the bees reach you.
At the end of the ride, go down to the next area.

Welcome to the Lust Circle. work your way down and to the left. When you see
the troll, try to fake him out (make him come up) then run to the bottom and go
right. Forget about going up, go down instead and avoid the demons who look
like they are doing cartwheels as you get another item make your way down to..

The Gluttony Circle. This is a simple maze where you got to watch out for the
black dogs. First go right then down, then left. Go down at the intersection
and go left again. A black dog is pacing back and forth so go up when the black
dog is going right and make a break for it to the left. Go down at the first
intersection and..

You are now in the Greed Circle. This is basically the same as the Lust Circle
as you are working your way down while you are avoiding the demons pushing some
boulders back and forth. This circle is short so as you reach the bottom, the
next circle is..

The Sloth Circle. Watch out for those hands as you go down to the lower left
side of the tower and board the ferry across the lava river known as the river
styx.

A day will pass when you reach the Wrath Circle as you come face to face with
Medusa is supposedly guarding a castle called, the city of DIS. All you have to
do here is chase her to the right. By chase, I mean move right and watch her
patterns, her pattern will drag her to the right each time it passes. When she
is a good distance away, go down into the gates of the City of DIS.

Now that you are in the City of Dis, welcome to the Pride Circle. Drop off one
of your items in favor of a cross. Use that to kill the zombies on the screen.
You get one use out of the cross each time you pick one up so use it wisely. Go
to the left and go down to..

The Envy Circle. Work your way down and to the right. You will see two dogs.
Make the top one come down and go around the left side and go to the far right
and come down and make a break to the right before the other dog gets you and
go down at the end.

You are now in the final circle of Treachery. This is the toughest circle of
them all no doubt. You must avoid the burning fire. Work your way to the bottom
and go right. The fire will burn back and forth to the left and right so wait
until it reaches the left and "chase" it to the right and go down when you get
to the intersection. Wait for the dragon to give a lift down and then go left
for the cross then go down to the bottom and to the right. At the end, do down
and to the left. Use the cross on the whip troll. Go down at the first inter-
section and left for another cross. Go right and use the cross on the troll.
Next will be a series of zigzagging downwards so you are going right at the
moment, go down and left, then down and right. Another day will pass. GO down
and right to get the cross and keep moving. Go down at the first chance and go
left. Use the cross to kill both trolls at the same time. Now just work your
way down to the very bottom and avoid the black hands. Go left and you are face
to face with Satan himself. Just walk into the pit in front of him and..

WHAT!? THAT'S IT!?

Yes folks, you have beaten the game. Listen to the tune of Joy To The World as
Dante stands outside of a tree as the text "See once more the stars" scrolls
across the screen. CONGRATULATIONS!
