Since then a ROM was finally dumped allowing more people to get their hands on the game, followed later by a Sega Dreamcast version of it sponsored by a revamped SNK company in the form of Playmore, and finally a PS2 version, but originally I had used my Neo cart to write this FAQ and make the endings available for all non-Neo*Geo/MVS owning KoF fans out there to enjoy. For the record, this FAQ is a collection of exact transcriptions of the original endings in English text, not translations of the Japanese text. As you'll see, KoF 2000 has one of the most solid collections of endings that the series has ever seen. Unlike earlier games in the series, KoF 2000 has (for the most part) eliminated all the pointless/silly endings that the secondary teams used to suffer from, and made them all relevant or at least interesting in some way. There's a lot of intriguing loose ends that were seemingly designed to be continued on in KoF 2001. _/_/_/_/_/_/ LEGEND _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ "<< >>" - These are used to describe the visual being displayed on screen when it's relevant to the text or ending in some way.              Ergo, I must conclude...

             Zero intended to destroy NESTS's base of operations.

             An investigation was made, but that was after someone
             absconded with the project data.

             If my hypothesis is right, then Southtown was NESTS's...?
             But it's just a hypothesis.

             All I know for sure is: We got creamed big time.

             We lost a city... and our pride.  I wonder what our foes
             have in store for us next.

   The two special team endings in KoF 2000 aren't complete individual
   endings like the others, rather they're a special series of scenes & text
   that will take place only after the point where Zero is defeated... well,
   at least that's true for the Kula Team.  Although the Kyo & Iori Team
   ending does feature it's own unique text variations during the initial
   "generic" portion, because it's technically an edit team, the person
   who's supposed to be speaking the lines is unspecified.

   To see the Kyo & Iori Team ending you'll have to select Kyo, Iori, and
   any two characters other than Kula.  Also, "roulette" teammates won't
   work, it has to be a set team of 4.

   For the Kula Team ending, any team with Kula on it will do... Kyo & Iori,
   "roulette", whatever.  Keep in mind that when Kula is on your team she
   will not challenge as a mid-boss.

  **In case you're unaware of this, Yuki was supposed to have died in the
    '97 Sacred Force Team ending.  Orochi kidnapped and used her as a
    kushinada sacrifice.  What she says in that ending when she appears
    as a surreal sketch is "Materu kara ne, Kyo" (I'll be waiting for you,
    Kyo)... indicating that she is in fact "gone".  At that point Kyo
    becomes enraged and jumps in to help Iori kill off Orochi.  Here in this
    ending, Iori is taunting Kyo by reminding him that she's gone. Mind you,
    Yuki is very much alive in an overall SNK sense.  In that strange way
    in which SNK allows fan popularity to override event continuity
    (see: Geese Howard), Yuki lives on as a reoccurring character that's
    seemingly immortal outside the confines of the KoF timeline.  So yes,
    Yuki is alive in a general SNK sense, just not in KoF**

   An interesting point somehow passed under my radar when writing this FAQ.
   In case you are unaware, the English/NA version of KoF2000 is censored
   both in the arcade and on the Neo cart.  Things that differ from the
   original Japanese version include:

     - All blood has been removed (except for Lin's win pose).
     - Gravity seems to have no effect on Mai's chest.
     - The team specific ending musics have been replaced with one generic
       track... strange.  As a result, the music doesn't end properly with
       the credit roll.
     - The Ikari Team's ending has actually been altered.  Originally, Whip
       is supposed to raise a gun and shoot Zero dead... you even get to
       hear the shot fired.
     
   Now unfortunately, if you're playing the cart version on a NA Neo*Geo,
   then switching the language option to Japanese doesn't remedy the
   problem.  Doing so will allow you to hear the proper ending musics and
   see the original Japanese text, but the other elements remain censored
   and there is no "blood & bounce" code.  So to see everything as it should
   be, you'd need either a JP Neo*Geo, or a NA one equipped with a territory
   switch.  I became enlightened to all this when I plugged my cart into
   someone's NA Neo*Geo.  Mai with no bounce looks ridiculous, and actually
   altering an ending is a heinous crime.

   However, the ROM is a different story.  Although there's no actual "blood
   & bounce" code, ~Youngy~~Anyieth~ informs me that it is possible to get
   around the censorship and see the original game in all it's bloody,
   bouncy, gun poppin' glory by setting the game mode to ARCADE and
   switching the language option to JAPANESE.

   As for the Dreamcast version of the game, I've tested it and can assure
   you that it is the original unaltered Japanese arcade version.  For those
   of you that imported it and don't happen to read Japanese, I guess the
   fact that it doesn't include an English text option makes this FAQ fairly
   handy indeed.

   I'm aware that the PS2 version also lacks an English text option, but I
   haven't actually played it so I have no comment as to it's censorship
   details... but I'd assume it's basically the same as the Dreamcast
   version.

   The translation in the KoF series has always been decent, so unfortunately
   this section is more for informational purposes than amusement.  All I've
   done here is list the few corrections I made to the text, none of which
   are funny.

   -ALL TEAMS-
   Zero: "You can't resist me.  I'll beat you all like a drum.  Then your
          energy will  sent to Zero Cannon."
   
   -ART OF FIGHTING TEAM-
   Ryo: "I guess'd be to early to say it's all over..."
   
   -PSYCHO SOLDIER TEAM-
   Athena: "You'll never succeed.  We'll crush you.
            Then will (we'll) put an end to your Zero Cannon!"
   
   -WOMEN'S TEAM-
   Kasumi: "Good job, Hinako!  You won you're (your) first time out!!!"
   
   -EDIT TEAM-
   Heidern: "If my hypothesis is right then, (right, then) Southtown was
             NESTS's...?  But it's just a hypothesis.
   
   -KULA TEAM-
   Kula: "She says she is my friend and protect me.  That's it..."

   -CREDIT ROLL-
   All appearances of "Monster Maeduka" have been corrected to read
   "Monster Maetsuka".

   -KENSOU WA DARE??-
   Although "Sie Kensou" is how his name ALWAYS appears in the games, I
   refuse to write it as such because it's an improper use of romaji; an
   old misspelling that's been left uncorrected for years.  I assure you
   that the proper English spelling of his name, as it appears on ALL
   media besides the actual KoF in-game text, is "Shii Kensuu".  As such,
   every appearance of his name in this FAQ has been corrected.
