Credits Basics Knights of Valour is a side-scrolling game created by IGS. This game has always been a hot favourite in arcades by virtue of its great replay value. Hopefully, this guide will serve to enhance your gaming experience. This game has a total of 18 characters, made up of 9 "Good" Characters and (alternate characters ("Evil" versions of each of the nine characters). The movelist below has the moves of each and every character. Normal moves are moves that can be done by using a joystick-button combination while special moves need a power bar to execute. Formations and Magic cannot be executed at the same time, and some characters cannot execute special moves except Formations and Magic when equipped with certain special weapons. Level Up System Different to KOV Original, this time every character has a different score requirement to level up. If your requirement is reached, you will notice that your character will have a small increase in attack power as well as life after each stage. Combo System All combos can contain at most 4 sets of attacks and 1 extra hit (which can be any move). A set constitutes any normal moves a character has or a combo done by pressing the A buttons repeatedly (up to 4 times maximum). Hence, this means that if you press A once and the turn back and press A again, you have done 2 sets. If you press A repeatedly 4 times and then turn back and the press A repeatedly 4 times again, you are also performing 2 sets. Upon knowing this, you can create all the combos you want. Solo Mode Or Co-Op Mode New to Kov9 Dragons in a Solo/Co-Op mode that can be chosen during which mode you attempt in the game. If Solo Mode is chosen, Combos done by you may not be interrupted by any allys you have. There is some advantage to this if you don't like your game being ruined by kids who play with you. Otherwise Co-Op mode is a better choice for linking combos. R-Mode or Internet Ranking Mode Another new feature in Kov9 Dragons. In this mode the enemies have enhanced AI. Not only you receive a crazy amount of damage when u get hit, even by small soldiers, the gameplay is slightly altered a bit for example, you may face Huang Gai and Lu Meng together at one point of time. Stage 1 Mine Start----|---------Open Field------Xia Hou Dun-----Dynamite Area Field (1). Clear the soldiers and you can either go into the minefield or continue venturing forward. (2). Get into the minefield and keep to the bottom of the screen to avoid the landmines. Collect the firebombs and smoke bombs. Do remember to get the Peace Robe, as armours are scarce if you are playing a multi player game. (3). Venturing forward, there is really nothing much to take note of as the soldiers are pretty much harmless. Furthermore, you can get a rice bun if you venture forward. (4). Clear the soldiers and avoid getting hit by the stones. Xia Hou Dun will then come next. Preferably, set fire and unlock the options (remember you can knock Xia Hou Dun after the sun rises 1 time to get an extra firebomb). Remember to get the Holy Water and Dragon Blade by knocking Xia Hou Dun before the sun rises. Knocking him again after he runs to the left will wield you a bomb. Boss Strategy Xia Hou Dun Xia Hou Dun is basically an easy boss. When attacking, do not stand on the same plane as him. Knock him before the sun rises to get the holy water and Dragon Blade. Do take note that he must be in the area of the dynamites(i.e, he MUST be standing to the left of the RIGHTMOST dynamite) before igniting the last dynamite. This will ensure that the options are unblocked. Important points Take note to avoid stopping on the mines and lose life unnecessarily. Also, it is quintessential to set fire successfully. Weapons + Armours Peace Robe (Defence +9%, protects against poison): Knock the metal soldier on the second screen inside the minefield once. Dragon Knife (Power +12%, allows you to destroy barriers swiftly.): Knock Xia Hou Dun three times before the sun rises. Chain Armour (Defence + 12%, protects against fire): Get Xia Hou Dun to surrender. Copper Armour (Defence +10%, protects against theft): Kill Xia Hou Dun. Items Wind scroll : Successfully set fire, then choose option A to kill Xia Hou Dun to get the wind scroll. Holy Water : Knock Xia Hou Dun once before the sun rises. General surrender Xia Hou Dun First of all, wait until the sun rises. Then, you will run to the back of the screen. Once there, use firebombs to ignite the dynamites, leaving one last one unignited. Fight Xia Hou Dun until he is reduced to less than half of one lifebar. Then, lure him into the dynamite area and ignite the last dynamite. This should unlock the options. Choose option B to persuade him to surrender. He will regain some life and fight you again. Defeat him again and he will surrender. Secret Rooms Minefield: Push up near the end of the first screen, in between the two weeds. Entering the city, you have the option to either set fire or not to set fire. It is advised that you set fire by continuously pressing the A button repeatedly at the beginning of the stage if Diao Chan is in the group as she can then get her weapon from the rooftop by pushing up in between the two wooden houses. If not, enter the secret room by the city gate for some crucial items such as the power up book and fire scroll. (2). If you reach the rooftop, you will find that the soldiers there are quite simple minded, so you need not worry about your safety on the rooftop. Do note that Diao Chan's weapon is crucial, as it will make a difference to the game. Also, try to get the supply horse by jumping down the rooftop. (3). If you decide to venture forward even after setting the fire or if you did not set the fire at all, then do take note of the archers, miners and other soldiers as they are moderately aggressive. Finally, one must be extra careful against the catapults, which will cause massive damage. (4). If you choose to go to White River's Dike (A), there is really nothing much you need to worry about. Just ensure that you get the rice and destroy the dam before you kill Cao Ren to get his general command. (5). If you choose to travel Upstream of White River (B),you will realize that this place is infested with leopards, tigers, animal-tamers and thieves. They are all very aggressive in attack so do use your specials discreetly to avoid losing vitality. Getting the Yellow Robe will be a major boost to the entire game, as you will gain specials at a very fast rate. If Huang Zhong is in your cohort, then you will have to choose between getting the Fire Bow or the Yellow Robe (I strongly suggest getting the Yellow Robe whenever possible). Boss strategy Cao Ren Cao Ren is a speed-based boss and as such must be dealt with cautiously. Try not to have him outside the screen and use strong attacks against him. Kill him off fast to avoid losing life by getting hit by the move where he jumps out of the screen and re-emerges to attack the player. Important Points Use your discretion to decide whether to set fire or not. If you intend to go to the Niujin route in Stage 4, it is advisable not to set fire and get the power up book. Also, watch out for the metal soldiers formation by killing them swiftly at one shot. Do not kill them off one by one for this will prove to be difficult. Finally, keen a watchful eye out for any sneak attacks from the animals, thieves and animal tamers if you choose to go Upstream of White River. Weapons + Armours Red Dagger (Power +18%): Set fire and go up the rooftop.Kill the eagle that flies out after all the soldiers on the first screen of the rooftop are cleared. Chain Armour (3/4 players): Kill off all the soldiers on the second screen of the rooftop area. Wizard Knife (Power +20%) : Method 1 - Do not set fire and hit the cart behind the fence on the second screen of the city area. Method 2 - Set fire and go to the rooftop. Enter the rooftop secret room and re-emerge in the city area. Hit the cart next to the wooden box two times and get the Wizard Knife. Firebow (Power +37%, fire-based attacks, Evil Huang Zhong cannot use Quarter- circle forward B special attack when equipped with it): Choose option B to go to Upstream of White River. Go to the secret room (top) and open the metal box using either normal moves or second weapons. Yellow Robe (Defence +4%, enables the player to store up the morale at a faster rate. If playing 1 player game, the rate is x1.5. If playing 2 players and above, the rate is x2): Choose option B to go to Upstream of White River. Go to the secret room (bottom) and wait for the cart pushers to settle down at both sides of the screen. Then kill off the fat soldiers who are running about. After this, hit the cart pusher on the left. As he pushes his cart to the right, he will trip and fall. Knock him once he gets up. Bright Armour (Defence + 14%, protects against fire and explosions): Choose Route A (White River Dyke) and defeat Cao Ren (regardless of whether he surrendered or not, he will drop the armor upon defeat). Items Fire Scroll: Solve the puzzle in the secret room 1 by first defeating all the soldiers and hitting the dragon head as follows. Right 2, Left 3. The fire scroll should fall down. Power up book: Solve the puzzle in secret room 1 after clearing the soldiers and getting the Fire Scroll. Hit the dragon head as follows after the fire scroll drops down. Right 1, Left 2, Right 3. The box containing the power up book will fall down. Purple book 1: Open the bottom left hand corner box in the secret room (top). Purple book 2 : Open the box which falls down after solving the puzzle in secret room 2. The puzzle is solved by hitting the dragon heads as follows. Left 2, Right 1, Right 3, Left 2, Right 1. If Zhuge Liang or Pang Tong is present, the box will contain a Supply Horse instead. Supply Horse: This is obtained by using the same method as getting the Purple book 2. The box will contain the Supply Horse if Zhuge Liang or Pang Tong is present. Red Book: Choose Route A (White River Dyke) and defeat Cao Ren (regardless of whether he surrendered or not, he will drop the book upon defeat). Detoxify Herb - Open the wooden box just before getting Wizard Knife. General surrender Cao Ren Go to White River's Dike and destroy the dam, then use normal attacks to kill Cao Ren and he will surrender. Secret rooms Secret room 1: Do not set fire and push up at the corridor between the wall of the city gate and the pillar of the first house before killing all the soldiers. Secret room 2: Set fire and go up to the rooftop. On the last screen of the rooftop, press the B button to jump on the large gaping hole 3 times so that you will fall down into the secret room. Forest secret room (top): After defeating all the soldiers, push up at the top of the screen, in between the two trees where two broken pots lie. Forest secret room (bottom): After defeating all the soldiers, push down at the bottom of the screen, where a broken log lies. Stage 3 Secret Room 2 |-A----|------------------------------------------------| | | | Secret Room 3 | | | | | Secret Room 1 | Zhang He-----------| | | + | | | (Menghu) | Protect Commoners------ |-------| | | Secret Room 2 | |-B----Protect Liu Qi-----Simayi------|-----------------| Stage 3 (1). Take note to protect the common people, especially the old man, for he will give you a triple jump armour and a commoners' scroll. This is quite important if you are playing a multiplayer game. Next, you will encounter some horses. It is advisable to attack the horses from the back to avoid having them inflicting damage on you. Otherwise, the first section of the stage is fairly easy. However, do not forget to go into the secret room to get Zhao Yun's weapon as well as the dark blue book, which is rather useful. (2).If you choose to seek for relief forces, you must pay extra attention not to let Liu Qi get hit too many times. Or else, you will be left with fewer items after defeating Simayi, who is one tough son of a gun. Watch out for the cart pushers and catapults, as they will inflict substantial damage on you if you get hit. (3). If you go and save young master, you will find yourself on the bridge with a lot of carts coming at you. The trick to avoid the carts is to stand in the center first and let the top and bottom carts pass by before moving to either the top or bottom to avoid the center cart that finally comes your way. Try not to save on specials especially on fighting on large amount of soldiers and formations in this area. Also, do remember to hit the top cart on your way to save young master to get a chicken leg. Do jump into the well as there are numerous useful items inside. (4). As you reach the path to fight Zhang He and Menghu, you will be faced with numerous formations. As such, use iron lilies or specials to finish them off. Also, do not forget to knock the leader of the third formation for rice to help you regain some vitality. Note: You will not fight MengHu if you choose route B (relief forces) to fight Simayi. He will appear in the last stage together with MengYu + Elephant instead. Boss Strategy Simayi Most probably the deadliest boss in the game, he comes equipped with snakes and lightning attacks. Players are of course, not advised to fight him because of the high difficulty. But if you think you have the aptitude to defeat him, go ahead. Basically, he fears fire and physical attacks and is virtually immune to all magical attacks. To effectively fight him, one must learn to block his lightning and avoid his snakes. When he is vulnerable, attack from behind, using strong attacks. Also, items such as iron lily, firebombs and beads deal substantial damage to him. Fight him with great patience and you will triumph. Holy water will fall out if 3 players or more are playing. Menghu Menghu is really a very simple boss who is vulnerable to all attacks. Players need only to guard against his roaring attacks that will leave you dizzy and prone to attacks. Other than that, he is really just a sandbag. Zhang He With his chain attacks, he can inflict heavy damage on the players. This coupled with the fact that Menghu will come out and assist him after sometime makes him a moderately tough boss. However, once you defeat Menghu, you can move in for the kill. Trap him in the bottom left hand corner of the screen where he cannot move and use strong attacks against him to reduce his vitality quickly. Important points It is crucial to make a wise choice between seeking for relief forces and saving young master. Also, it is quintessential for you to jump down the well as it contains various important items. Weapons + Armour Fire arm (Power +18%, obliterates barriers): Prevent the fat soldiers from kicking the box on the bottom portion of the screen and open the box. Triple jump armour (Defence +9%, protects against lightning and enables the player to jump three times if he cannot already so so): Save the old man in the second batch of commoners from enemy attacks and squat down before you engage in a dialogue with him and he will give you the armour. King armour (Defence +14%, protects against fire and dizziness): Enter secret room 2 and open the box at the topmost portion of the screen. Firefan (Power +50%, fire-based attacks): Enter secret room 3 and open the first box that floats your way. Heaven robe (Defence +12%, protects against explosions and ice): Defeat Simayi. (whether u successfully protect Liu Qi or not is irrelevant) Spike armour (Defence +9%, enemy will incur damage as well if he/she attacks the player): Go into secret room 3 and immediately proceed to hit the dragon head at the top right hand side once to stop it from spouting water. Do the same for the top left dragon head. The box trapped inside the railings will float out. Open it and you will get the armour. Superlance (Power +12%, eliminates barriers easily): Fight Zhang He as per normal, but take note not to kill him. Wait for Menghu to come out and finish off 3/8 of Menghu's life. Then, go to the top left hand corner of the screen and perform Zhang Fei's special (Down Up B) on chang ban qiao( the bridge area at the extreme left hand side of the screen). Menghu will be scared away and will drop Zhang Fei's weapon along the way. Another method of gaining this weapon is simply entering Secret Room 2 and hit the bag with wind scroll as per normal. If Zhang Fei is in the party, Wind scroll will be replaced with Superlance. Fire Halberd (Power +18%, fire-based attacks, destroy obstacles with 1 hit, cannot perform specials other than formations or magic): The code must be input at the player character screen by pressing BD * 3 at SunQuan. The timer will then reset to 9. Then, proceed to fight Zhang He as per normal. When he is first defeated, he will flash yellow. During this time when he flashes yellow, throw out a Holy Water (by pressing BC together) to him to revive him. Finally,knock him 3 times and the fire Fang Tian Hua Yi will drop out. Ching Sword (Power +50%, destroys obstacles easily, 1 hit is considered to be a full set of regular A button combos): Knock the leader of the first formation which appears before you proceed to the well. Items Holy water: Defeat Simayi (3/4 players) Holy water: Open the box in Mi Furen's secret room (the well) Commoner's scroll: Rescue the old man successfully (he must walk all the way to the left hand side of the screen without getting killed). At the last screen of the first scene of stage 3, he will reappear and give you the scroll. Dark Blue Book: Go into secret room 1 and open the top left hand box. Purple book: Defeat Menghu and he will drop it. Seven Star: Go to secret room one and open the top right box. Defence up book: Go to secret room 3 and open the second floating box. Power up book: Simayi will drop it upon defeating him. (whether u successfully protect Liu Qi or not is irrelevant) Wind Scroll: Go to secret room 2 and use triple jump to hit down the bag containing the scroll which is located at the middle portion of the rooftop. Black beast: Defeat Zhang He and he will drop it. General surrender Wooden Man Input the code at the character select screen and knock Simayi once when he has less than 1 lifebar. A flag will fall out. Take the flag and you would have gotten the general command of the wooden man. Menghu + Elephant Input the code at the character select screen and have one player obtain at least a score of 5 million. Then kill off Menghu and an elephant stamp should drop out. Take it and you would have gotten the elephant general command. The code need not be done if you are playing the game after someone else has completed (using the same machine), and Menghu will still drop the elephant command after killing him. Zhang He Defeat Zhang He for the first time. As he lies on the floor, he will flash yellow and say that he is really mad. Press the BC buttons simutaneously when placing your cursor at the holy water to throw it out to Zhang He. He will then be revived and ask the player to fight again. Defeat him again this time around and he will surrender. Secret rooms Secret room 1: Push up before killing all the archers and horses in the top middle part of the last screen before the dialogue with the soldier (to choose Route A or B) happens. Secret room 2: Hit the fence in the background after the dialogue with Mi Furen six times to break the fence to go in. If you had sought relief forces earlier, simply hit the fence six times and you can then enter the room. Secret room 3: After the dialogue with Mi Furen, do not take the baby. Instead, walk towards the left hand side of the well for about 5 secs, then press B to jump into the well and enter the secret room. This can be easily accomplished by stalling for time using special attacks to kill some but not all of the soldiers or to immobilize the soldiers. Recommended methods include Zhuge's Stone array or Killing the archer first then use smoke bombs on the remaining soldiers. Stage 4 Cabin Secret Room 1 |-Attack Cao's Army---- |----------------Niujin | River Crossing--------- | | | | | Cabin Secret Room 2 | |--Left-------- |-------| | | | |-Attack Soldiers After-------- | |--Ganning | | | Cabin Secret Room 3 | |-Right |-------------- | (1). Once you reach the harbour, you will be faced with numerous metal horses. It is recommended that you use specials or iron lilies to swiftly kill off the horses, as they will deal massive damage to the player when their attacks connect. Also, fight the fishermen carefully to avoid being hit by their quick spear attacks. After this, you will get on the boat where you will have to make an option to either go Route A or Route B. (2a). Going to A, you will see numerous fishermen. Kill them off and the enemy's boat will be set on fire. At this junction, you will have to choose whether to go down to the cabin or to carry on forward. It all depends on the amount of life and the risk you want to take. Going down will get you a fire scroll, red sparrow and books while going forward will get you a Cureherb1. (3a). If you go down, you must take note not to get hit excessively as there will not be any food for you once you get up from the cabin. As such, do not hesitate to use specials when there are too many soldiers on the same screen. The metal soldiers and the fatties are extremely dangerous and should be finished off quickly. (4a). Going forward will be much easier as the soldiers are easier to deal with. Add this to the fact that you will be able to get a cureherb1 and you have got a very safe route here. You just need to note that specials are limited so do not waste your specials as you will need them to fight Niujin later on. (5a). After clearing all the soldiers on the second last screen, you will proceed to the last screen which is the arena for fighting Niujin. Clear the soldiers and Niujin will come out to fight you. (2b). Going to B, you will see some fishermen. Kill them off and you will have to make another choice - to go to the left side or the right side of the boat. For beginner players, it is suggested that you go to the left side. (3b). (Left/right) Going left/right, you will again see more fishermen and small soldiers. Kill them off and you will have the option to either go into the cabin or to continue going left. Go into the cabin if you are confident that you will not lose much life in there. If not, continue going left to get the Cure Herb1 which you would otherwise forsake if you went down to the cabin. (4b). (Left/right) Inside the cabin, you should see many fatties and armoured soldiers and fishermen. Again, use specials intelligently to prevent you from losing excessive life. Once you get up from the cabin, you will fight Ganning after clearing the soldiers from the last screen. (5b). (Left/right) If you do not go into the cabin, you will have an easier time fighting the soldiers. All you need to take note of are the arrows from the archers as well as aerial attacks from the fishermen. You also have the added advantage of getting a Cure Herb1, which could be useful in emergencies. After clearing the last screen, you will fight Ganning. Boss strategy Niujin Niujin is essentially a simple-minded boss whose attacks are strong and fast in recovery. Therefore, do not attack head on with him as he can deal massive damage with his strong attacks. Try to exploit his simple-mindedness by attacking him from a different plane. In essence, he is really a rather simple boss if fought in the correct manner. If you are using Pang Tong,you will have an extremely easy time fighting him. Just use youe special (Down Up B) and the use any strong attacks to hit him while he is immobilized (eg iron lilies, combos etc) Ganning What makes this commander so difficult is his fast attacks, which sometimes can be extremely damaging (especially his flying arrow). On this count, do not rush into attacking him. Instead, try to look for openings and then unleash a deadly wave of attacks on him and deal a tremendous amount of damage to his vitality. Tactfulness and patience is the key to defeating Ganning. Important points Do take note that choosing to go to either route A or B will impact heavily on the rest of the game, so choose properly. If you are going for a high score, choose to go to A. If you are simply looking forward to having a good time and completing the game, then it is suggested that you choose option B as it offers a lower difficulty. Weapons + Armours God Clothes (Defense +14%, protects against fire and dizziness): Go to secret cabin 3 and open the metal box. Lightning Sword (Power +20%, lightning-based attacks): Go to the secret cabin 2 and open the boxes present in the majority followed by the boxes present in minority. Then, a metal box will fall down. Open that metal box to get the lightning sword. God Bow (Power +100%, explosion-based attacks, Evil Huang Zhong unable to use quarter-circle forward B special when equipped with it): Get Ganning to surrender and it will fall out. Three section (Power -18%, special attacks disabled (Except Formations), enables Sun Quan to perform nine hits instead of four for his normal full set of combos): Go to secret cabin 2 and open the boxes present in majority followed by those in minority. One of the boxes should contain the three-section. Alternatively, go to secret cabin room 3 and use Sunquan's 28A at the middle lantern 3 times. Hook knife (Power +25%, able to get 4 hits with his quarter-circle forward A attack): Get Niujin to surrender and he will drop it. Items Red sparrow: Go to secret cabin 1 and open the box. Fire scroll: Go to secret cabin 1 and open the box. Red Book(2 books): Go to secret cabin 1 and throw bombs to kill the pigs(2 of them). Red Book 2: Defeat Ganning and he will drop it. Commoner's Scroll: Go to secret cabin room 3 and open the wooden box. Seven Star: Go to secret cabin room 3 and knock the white metal soldier and it will drop out. Be warned that if you do not knock the white metal soldier, he will not die after you kill him. Instead, he will revive himself with the seven star and get up to fight you again(!). At this point, you cannot get the seven star even if you knock him. Purple book(2 books): Go to secret cabin 1 and throw bombs to kill the ducks(2 of them). Cure Herb 1: Kill one of the fishermen during the second screen of the ship when going to route A or B. White tiger: Defeat Niujin and it will fall out. Defence up book: Defeat Niujin and it will fall out. Blue dragon: Defeat Ganning in the absence of Zuoci (ie before Zuoci makes any appearance at all) and Ganning will drop it upon defeat. General surrender Niujin Defeat Niujin within 50 seconds. Ganning The player with a score of at least 30 million must deal the finishing blow to Ganning. Secret rooms Secret cabin 1: Go down to Niujin's cabin and jump hit the first small candle, third small candle and the last small candle. After clearing all the soldiers, jump and hit the second last candle two times from the left side. (The first lamp is not a candle and cannot be hit) Secret cabin 2: Go down to Ganning's cabin (left) and jump and hit the third and fifth lamp once each. After clearing all the soldiers, jump and hit the last lamp twice from the left. Secret cabin 3: Go down to Ganning's cabin (right). Do not hit any lanterns and defeat all the soldiers. After defeating the soldiers and moving ahead. There will be a sleeping soldier. Do not attack him and defeat all the other soldiers. Then the sleeping soldier will explode(!) and you can enter the secret room. Upon reaching the forest, kill off the hunters and the female warriors and you will confront Xu Huang. He is an easy boss so do not lose life unnecessarily. Upon killing him, you will have 2 options; either go to North Hill or Chiangling Road. To get Guanyu's Fire Blade or Huang Zhong's Super Bow, you should go to North Hill (Section 2.1.1). To fight Zhang Liao, go to Chiangling road and save Huang Gai and get on the cart (Section 2.2.1). To fight Xiahou Yuan, do not save Huang Gai and follow the directions to go down after clearing all the soldiers (Section 2.3.1). (2.1.1). Upon reaching north hill, you will see some thieves and tigers and animal tamers. Kill them all and proceed forward to destroy the barricades. Upon destroying the carts in front, there will be rice for your consumption. If Xu Huang is in your party, you can go into the cave to fight Xu Zhu and get Guan or Huang's weapons after defeating him. If Xu Huang is not in your party, you can only proceed on forward to fight Xia Hou Yuan (Go to section 2.3.1). (2.1.2). Upon entering the cave, Xu Zhu will make his appearance. For those who want to earn points using the black beast and white tiger combination, they can do so at this area. Xu Zhu is relatively easy as he is big and bulky. Hence, exploit his recovery lag and unleash a strong wave of attack on him. After defeating Xu Zhu, you have two options. Go left to get Guan's Fire Blade or right to get Huang's Super Bow. After this, you will proceed on to the main arena (2.2.1). Saving Huang Gai is a breeze. However, getting on the cart and fighting Zhang Liao is not. When you get on the cart, stay at the bottom left hand corner to kill the soldiers. This way, you can avoid the arrows from the archers. After getting off the cart, you will be rewarded with the Oldest armour. Then Zhang Liao makes his appearance. After fighting him, you will proceed to the main arena Note: If Xia Hou Dun did not surrender in stage 1,he will appear here again to help out Zhang Liao 30 secs after Zhang Liao makes his appearance!!! (2.3.1)You will reach the hill where by you will do battle with the hunters and female warriors. After defeating them, stand at the top of the screen to avoid the rolling rocks. After this, proceed on and you will see a wooden stick blocking a huge rock. Do not destroy this wooden stick or let it be destroyed by the soldiers or else the difficulty will be up one notch because of the rolling rocks that are released. After killing off the fat soldiers and the thieves, go into the cave. (2.3.2). Inside the cave, you will notice that there are thieves waiting to ambush you. Take great care not to get your items stolen by them. Kill off the thieves and you will see a bunch of snakes. It is suggested to kill the snakes off fast to avoid getting bitten by them. Therefore, do not be too thrifty with your specials. (2.3.3.1). You can choose to squat down at the hole and proceed into the right side if you want to get Seven Star and the auto defence armour. Upon reaching there, take care not to lose too much life as there will be no food available until after you defeat Xia Hou Yuan. Hence, avoid getting attacked by the bears inside. After finishing the soldiers, you will meet Xia Hou Yuan. (2.3.3.2). Choosing to go left will leave you fighting some bears. Take note that the bears are extremely dangerous. Sometimes, getting gored by them could mean losing up to 1/2 of your life. So pay extra care not to get attacked. After finishing the bears, you will get out of the cave and fight more thieves, fat soldiers and hunters. (2.3.3.2.1). Watch out for the falling rock once you get out of the cave. Getting squashed by it would deal considerable damage to your vitality. Kill off the thieves and miners quickly and venture forward to kill off the hunters and the fat soldiers. You will get a chicken leg from one of the fat soldiers to replenish some of your vitality. Xia Hou Yuan comes next. (2.4). Upon reaching the main arena, take note that there will be no food until after you defeat Cheng Yu. So, take note not to lose any precious life. The soldiers in this area are moderately aggressive but the bosses are very powerful. Upon killing the metal soldiers and horses at the final screen, Cheng Yu will make his appearance, followed by Cao Cao after you defeat Cheng Yu. Once again, don't lose life unnecessarily. Boss Strategy Xu Huang This woodcutter is one of the kings of auto defence. His attacks all have great priority when auto blocking so when you see him in the stance, do not try to attack him, or else you will be on the losing end. He is basically scared of fire element attacks so use them on him for effective measure. Other than that, try not to let him get out of the screen too often for he might jump back in doing his explosion move, which is extremely deadly. Try to finish him off quickly to get his general command to help you in fighting the elephant later on. Xu Zhu This big buffoon is really one of a kind. By virtue of his big body size, he is extremely deadly when he attacks, so please do not attack him when he is in auto-defence or performing any of his moves. However, it is interestingly paradoxical that his strong point is also his weak point. Big doesn't necessarily mean better all the time as this makes one more vulnerable to attacks, which is true in Xu Zhu's case. So, wait until he has finished attacking, and then unleash a merciless wave of attack on him from behind, dealing massive damage. Also, it is good to take note that it is more effective to attack him by not standing on the same plane (i.e. same line) as he is standing on. Xia Hou Yuan He has traditionally been the killer boss in all of the KOV series. He is however, toned down a bit for this series. While he has auto-defence abilities, it is easily negated by his apparent lack of damage. As such, players should find no problem defeating him if they manage to use theirs specials prudently attack from behind and try to deal as much damage as possible. Remember, the crux to defeating any boss is to avoid standing on the same line as him when you are dishing out your attacks. Zhang Liao Zhang Liao, tough as he is, can be defeated rather easily by cleverly avoiding his attacks. His main strengths lie in his ability to summon the formation as well as to throw out items such as iron lilies and ironguns. Hence, players will do well either to dodge all these attacks or to block them. While Zhang Liao has auto defence abilities, they are the weaker compared to the rest of the bosses. Therefore, one should try to avoid his attacks as much as possible and hit him from behind. Cheng Yu Cheng Yu - sorcerer supreme. Really, many have complained that he is far too supreme in this version, and yet IGS classified him as an easy boss!!! However, he is really not that hard once you find out how to fight him. Initially, he will call out the wooden men. Quickly kill them by using fire based attacks (i.e. firebombs or fire specials). After killing then, try not to move around too much and try to hit Cheng Yu to the right side of the screen. Then, perform all your combos on him when he is on the right side. Remember, try to make as little movement as possible, only dodging or blocking when he tries to attack. This way, he cannot teleport far and will be predominantly trapped on the right side of the screen. Players can then give Cheng Yu the thrashing of a lifetime. Fire Fang Tian Hua Yi needs more hits to kill the wooden men. Standard combos also cannot be performed on Cheng Yu (i.e. AAA,AAA,AAAA) Cao Cao Essentially, he is very much the same incarnation as his previous self in KOV2 (original). Try not to use any specials before he reaches the red portion of his life bar. Once he reaches the red portion, players just need to note that he can then unleash his falling swords, which are quite deadly. Therefore, it is advisable for players to be generous with the specials once Cao Cao reaches the red portion of the life bar. This way, he will not have the opportunity to utilize his tracking swords and will be easily finished off. Important points Try your best to get Xu Huang to surrender to make life easier for you later on. Also, note that the soldiers in this stage are moderately aggressive, so one must be on a constant lookout for sneak attacks. It is advisable to go fight Xia Hou Yuan, as he is the easiest among the 3 bosses you can choose from. Furthermore, one can get a ginseng and Holy Water by fighting him. Players should also be wary of Cheng Yu's physical attacks as they deal a great deal of damage if they connect. Cao Cao can easily be defeated but as always, one must keep track of his life bar to avoid a chaotic situation when he unleashes his tracking swords. Weapons and armours Flyclaw (Power +32%, only Ice Storm and Restore can be used, all other special attacks cannot be used): Get Xia Hou Yuan to surrender and it will fall out. Fire Blade (Power +28%, fire-based attacks, destroys obstacles efficiently): Guan Yu/Evil Guan Yu must collect a minimium of 3 bombs beforehand. Go left after defeating Xu Zhu and scroll leftwards immediately to look for the dynamite behnind the barricades. Then, Guan Yu/Evil Guan Yu must throw a minimum of 3 firebombs using BC on the dynamite, then Guan Yu/Evil Guan Yu must throw a firebomb using D on the combination of dynamite + 3 firebombs. If you are playing alone, open the wooden box in the bottom left hand corner to get an additional firebomb so that you can throw it at the dynamite (using D). Take note that you only have about 5 seconds to throw the bomb to ignite the dynamite and afterwards, the dynamite will disappear and you will not be able to ignite it afterwards. Also take note that only Guan Yu/Evil Guan Yu can ignite the dynamite (Using D). The barricade will then be destroyed and you will then be able to enter the Fire Blade room. Open the metal box to get the Fire Blade. Super Bow (Power +28%, enables Huang Zhong to shoot two arrows consecutively, arrows are fire and lightning-based in nature): Go right after defeating Xu Zhu and throw a fire bomb to ignite the arrow on the cart located at the bottom middle of the screen. Then knock the cart from the left to hit the barrier to open up a path to another area (Super Bow room), which contains the Super Bow. Yih Sword (Power +25%): Knock Cao Cao 5 times with in Ma Chao's presence. Auto defence armour (Defence +6%, enables the player to defend automatically when in the process of performing an attack): Squat down and walk left at the top left portion of the screen after defeating the thieves and snakes in the cave before fighting Xia Hou Yuan. Defeat one of the animal- tamers and it will fall out. Feather clothes (Defence +15%, protects against dizziness): Go left after defeating Xu Zhu and open one of the boxes. War Robe (Defence +17%, protects against poison and fire): (2 places) Open the top box after going right after defeating Xu Zhu. Explosive Fan (Power +42%, explosion-based attacks): Defeat Cheng Yu with a score of 45 million and above and block Cao Cao's impending attack for Cheng Yu. The Explosive Fan will be yours. Three sections (Power -18%,special attacks disabled (Except Formations), enables Sun Quan to perform nine hits instead of four for his normal full set of combos): Squat down and walk left at the top left portion of the screen after defeating the thieves and snakes in the cave before fighting Xia Hou Yuan. Then,open the metal box located at the top right corner of the screen. Oldest armour (Defence +12%, protects against confusion and woodify): It will fall off from the cart after Huang Gai gets off. Items Commoner's scroll: Defeat Xu Huang and it will fall off. Blue Dragon: Enter the Super Bow room and open the middle box. Defense Up Book: Defeat Zhang Liao and he will drop it. Seven Star: Squat down and walk left at the top left portion of the screen after defeating the thieves and snakes in the cave before fighting Xia Hou Yuan. Then, open one of the boxes. Detoxify (3 places): 1st-place: Squat down and walk left at the top left portion of the screen after defeating the thieves and snakes in the cave before fighting Xia Hou Yuan. Then, open the box located at the bottom left hand corner. 2nd - place: Defeat one of the snakes inside the cave where there are snakes, thieves and bears. 3rd-place: Defeat Zhang Liao and he will drop it. Cure Herb 1: Knock Xia Hou Yuan 3 times. Holy Water: Defeat Xia Hou Yuan and it will be available upon his defeat. Holy Water(2): Defeat Zhang Liao and he will drop it. Wind Scroll: Defeat Cheng Yu and it will drop out. Dark Blue Book: Defeat Cao Cao and it will fall out. Dark Blue Book 2: Protect Huang Gai and fight Zhang Liao. If Xia Hou Dun did not surrender at stage 1, and you are playing internet ranking mode (R mode), about 30 seconds after fighting Zhang Liao he will come out and assist him. Defeat him to get the book. Supply Horse: Go left after defeating Xu Zhu and open the wooden box at the top of the screen. General surrenders Xu Huang: Defeat him before he escapes to the back of the forest (in about 1 minute) Xu Zhu: Defeat him with Xu Huang. Then, have any player squat down in front of him. Xia Hou Yuan: Defeat him with Xia Hou Dun and then press AB in front of him when he is flashing yellow. (whether you have specials remaining or not is unimportant) Cheng Yu: Get a score of at least 45 million and help him to block Cao Cao's attack. Cao Cao: Use two urns (blue dragon, red sparrow, white tiger or black beast) simutaneously and defeat him with the commoner's scroll while the urns are still in effect. Once you reach the start of this stage, you will be given the option of either going to A: Attack city gate or B: Raid the back of the city. (2A). If you choose option A, you will venture forward whereby you will be faced with metal soldiers, archers and ax soldiers. On the second screen, take note to destroy the top cart so that you can get rice to regain some vitality. Watch out for the attacks of the metal soldiers, as they are extremely aggressive. After finishing the last batch of metal soldiers, Zhou Tai will make his grand appearance. (3A). After defeating Zhou Tai, be sure to get the items quickly and the get into the city gate because time is extremely limited! Procrastinate further and you will die!!! If Huang is in the party, remember to knock the archer to get the Poison Bow. Going into the palace, you will see numerous metal soldiers again. This time, fatties accompany them. Therefore, be extra careful when dealing with them for from this moment on, all the soldiers will be so aggressive in attack, it is as if they were in a state of frenzy. Use your discretion to allocate specials for use when you feel that you are in a precarious situation. Upon reaching the palace steps, try not to get hit too much by the eagles and bombs by avoiding them. It is recommended to proceed slowly up the steps with caution and to stand predominantly at the bottom of the steps so that you can better fight the enemies and avoid the bombs at the same time. Upon reaching the top of the steps, you will have to make an optio! n to either go up or right. Of course, going up would guarantee safety. Going right would mean more adventure ahead. (4.1A). If you go up, you will see a room full of animals. Be extra careful not to get bitten by the snake for the consequences will be grave. Also, do not kill any animals in the room. After killing all the snakes, run towards the right most half of the screen and throw out a detoxify herb to get into the secret room. Inside, you should find many goodies. Sun Quan then comes next. Steps to follow: 1. Jump over the snakes to avoid being bitten by them. 2. Don't kill any animals and go to the end of the screen and throw the herb outside the screen and wait for the turtle to eat it. 3. Kill all the snakes. 4. Go into the room. Note that only the first and third players can throw out the herb and enter, if not, the players will not be able to enter the room. (4.2A). If you decide to be adventurous and go right, you will be traveling along the palace corridor. There, you will see more soldiers who you should finish off fast. Then, you will meet Huang Gai. Do note that LuMeng will come out and help Huang Gai as well if you are playing internet ranking mode (R mode). Sun Quan comes next. (2B). Going down, you will be in the forest infested with thieves, fatties and eagles. Here, you will definitely need to use your specials when necessary as the thieves are extremely lethal in their attacks. Furthermore, they have the ability to steal your items (and not return them to you after you kill them at times), so you really need to be wary of them and take care of your inventory. After this, you will venture further down into the sewers. (3B). In the sewers, you will be faced with mainly fatties, fishermen and snakes. They are essentially harmless if you fight them properly, without losing life to extreme carelessness. Do go into the secret room in the sewers as there are many good items inside which will aid you in your quest. Coming out, you will face Lumeng. (4B). After defeating Lumeng, you will arrive at the palace corridor, where you will meet the next boss, Huang Gai. However, before doing battle with him, you will have to deal with the metal soldiers as well as the fatties along the corridor, who are in a state of madness, judging by the sheer aggressiveness in their attacks. Therefore, fight them carefully and you should lose minimum life. Huang Gai comes next. After defeating Huang Gai, Sun Quan is your next obstacle. (5). Upon reaching the palace, you will encounter batch upon batch of soldiers. They too are extremely strong in their attacks so do take note of this point and don't be caught off guard. Killing the soldiers, you will have a dialogue with Sun Quan. Then, he will summon the leopards to fight you. Stand at the top right hand corner beside the leopard statue to effectively kill the leopards. Killing all the leopards, Sun Quan will do battle with you. Boss Strategy Zhou Tai A strong boss in his own right, Zhou Tai relies on his superb auto-blocking abilities and the metal soldiers to aid him in his battle. Players should therefore watch out for sneak attacks from the metal soldiers as well as the auto-blocking state which Zhou Tai can sometimes be in. While he is auto- blocking, do not attack him, as you will be the only one at the losing end. Other than that, use your special attacks cleverly and Zhou Tai should not be much of a problem. Huang Gai Wielding a pagoda shaped fire-based weapon, he is one of the toughest bosses in the game by virtue of his forceful fire-based attacks and his various illusory skills. When fighting him, one must be careful not to be fooled by his illusions. Dodge his illusions cleverly by standing in a safe spot. Also, be careful not to be hit by his fire attacks as they deal a great amount of damage. Whenever possible, exploit his weakness by using ice-based attacks for they deal significant damage on him. Finally, take advantage of the recovery time between his attacks to unleash a strong wave of attacks to eliminate a substantial part of his vitality. Having done all these, Huang Gai will be yours for the taking. Lumeng Lumeng replaces Xu Zhu as the boss in the sewers. He is essentially a speed-
based boss who is scared of fire attacks; so do use fire-based attacks against
him as ice attacks only deal a small amount of damage to him. Players must take
note not to get hit by the poisoned water or the spike balls for they will
severely immobilize the player, making him/her prone to attacks that could be
costly. LuMeng has extremely short recovery lag and thus will be able to get up
very quickly and counter attack the player. Therefore, the tactic you should
use
when fighting him is basically "hit and run". Do not be too greedy for combos,
as you will get the short end of the stick ultimately. Finally, watch out for
his aerial move whereby he shoots out numerous fireballs for it deals massive
damage. When you see him jumping up, it is high time for you to dodge.

Sun Quan

Although slow and clumsy, he is powerful. These three qualities essentially
define Sun Quan. To fight him effectively, players need to be aware that one
must not stand on the same plane/line as Sun Quan when attacking him. This is
because this will render you prone to his strong attacks and allows Sun Quan a
chance to counterattack after he auto blocks. The strategy of not standing on
the same line/plane when fighting an enemy cannot be stressed enough. Other
than
that, use long range attacks against Sun Quan and try not to get too close when
attacking him as you might subject yourself to his attacks. Exploit his long
recovery time after his attacks to land a quick and damaging combo on him. Sun
Quan's leopards are quite irritating but you can kill the leopard first and
attack Sun Quan before the next wave of leopards come out. In conclusion, Sun
Quan can be easily won if players are careful enough not to get hit by his
attacks and never to attack him when standing on the same plane as him.

Important points

Take note not to lose too many life at Zhou Tai because that will land you in a
precarious position.

Weapons + Armours

Xuan Tie Ying Yang Tong (Ma Chao) (Power +10%, can perform up to a maximum of 2
hits, opponent will be left dizzy when hit): Get Zhou Tai to surrender and it
will drop off.

Poison Bow (Power +12%, Evil Huang Zhong cannot use Quarter-circle forward B
special attack when equipped with this bow): Knock the purple archer after
defeating Zhou Tai.

Scale clothes(Defense +15%, Protects against ???): Get Zhou Tai to surrender
and it will appear.

Water fan (Power +28%, ice-based attacks):Go into the turtle secret room and
open only all the wooden boxes. Then, go and stand on the middle stone tablet
and wait until a box drops out.Then, open the box to get Hook Knife and
continue
standing until a metal Box drops down. The timer will then reset to 3. Open the
box, get the Waterfan and then go out of the room. Note that if playing a
multi-
player game, all players should not exit the room and should all wait until the
timer resets before leaving.


War robe (Defence +17%, protects against poison and fire) : Open one of the
boxes in the sewer secret room.

Fly Claw: (Power +32%, adds up to additional 5 hits) In the sewer secret room,
wait by standing on the middle stone tablet until a metal box drops down. Open
it and you will get the fly claw.

Halberd aka Fang Tian Hua Yi (Power +45%, destroys obstacles with 1 hit, unable
to do specials (other than formations or magic) ): In the sewage secret room,
wait by standing on the middle stone  tablet until a metal box drops down. Do
not open it and proceed to open the boxes at the four corners. Then, go and
open the middle box and continue waiting for another box to drop down. Open
that box.

Feng Shen Pao (Defence +7%, increases the movement speed and distance/height of
jump, but not attack speed, of the character): Knock Huang Gai 5 times.

Emperor Armor (Defence +15%, protects against ice and explosions): It will
fall off after you defeat Sun Quan.

Items

Power-up book: Defeat Zhou Tai and you will get it.

White Tiger: Defeat Zhou Tai and you will get it.

Dark Blue Book(2) 1- Defeat Zhou Tai and you will get it. 2 - Go to the turtle
room and open one of the boxes.

Fire Scroll: Open one of the boxes in the turtle secret room.

Wind Scroll: Open one of the boxes in the sewer secret room.

Commoners scroll: Defeat Sun Quan and you will get it.

Red Sparrow: Open one of the boxes in the sewer secret room.

Holy Water: Defeat LuMeng and you will get it.

Red Book: Defeat LuMeng and you will get it.

Purple Book: Defeat Huang Gai and he will drop it.

Cureherb1: Defeat Zhou Tai WITHOUT him surrendering.

General Surrender

The person with a score of 45 million of above must deal the finishing blow to
Zhou Tai.

Secret Rooms

Secret room: At the second screen inside the sewers, defeat all the soldiers
swiftly, taking care not to hit the sleeping fat soldier behind. After
defeating
the soldiers, stand behind the fat soldier such that he will not see you. If he
turns he other way suddenly, then you should follow suit and go the other way
to
avoid having him see you. Do this until he stands up and the gates open.

(1).Remember to go to the secret room and get the black beast if you want to
get
high score! After you come out from the secret room, you will encounter the
hunter formation. It is suggested that you kill the entire formation with
specials such as Zhuge's lightning. If not, use the dark blue book to kill off
the green-coloured leader and get the rice. Defeating MengYu, you can either
choose to get to the cave to fight Shamok (Cross the bridge and go into the
cave) or take the waterway (Stand in the middle of the bridge and jump down
the bridge by holding the joystick direction down at the middle of the bridge).

(2.1). Upon reaching the cave, you will see many hunters and women warriors. If
you want to get the supply bull, do go into the secret room and solve the
puzzle. If not, continue venturing forward and you will encounter the bulls.
Be careful not to get gored by them for they do massive damage! After the
bulls,
you will fight Shamok.

(2.2). The waterway offers much more stability compared with the cave route.
Finish the soldiers and take the raft. Upon killing the last water soldier to
appear, you will get a Red Book. Use it effectively to kill the bucket men in
the ZuoCi area later on. Getting off the raft, you will encounter some miner
soldiers. Remember to get the Pot at that area for it adds more to your ability
to defeat the last boss (es).

(3). Entering the terracotta army area, you will be faced with spiked balls
rolling down the corridor. Therefore, squat down at the top left hand corner of
the screen so that you can effectively hit the snakes and scorpions that come
your way. Lure the lightning to hit the carvings on the floor 2 times to fight
Fake Lubu. If not, continue venturing forward and you will face Zuoci.

(4).Finishing ZuoCi, you will reach the final boss area whereby you will either
fight Real Lubu or Sun Quan and Cao Cao. You can only fight Real Lubu if your
score is above 80 million (100 million for 2 or more players). Then,
ZuoCi will drop a medal as he flies out and you can take the medal. This way,
you will encounter Real Lubu. The rest is history....

Note: If you choose to fight Fake Lubu, you will not fight Zuo Ci. Zuo Ci will
also not drop the metal even if you have met the score requirements. In other
words, if you fight Fake Lubu, you cannot fight Real Lubu.

Boss Strategy

Mengyu + Elephant

Fighting Mengyu will be a breeze if you either have Xu Huang or Elephant
general
command or a lot of smoke bombs. What makes Mengyu powerful is basically the
elephant. Just get Mengyu to come down from the elephant and he's a goner. To
efficiently finish off the elephant, use Xu Huang's A button attack.
Alternatively, you can use the Elephant general command and do 66 to knock the
elephant, thereby reducing the life bar. If you have a lot of somkebombs, use
them liberally to get Mengyu off the elephant. (Updated : Cao Ren can poke the
elephant to death by just using the A button from a distance. Some Characters
like Blood ZhaoYun 28B or Evil SunQuan 28B can hit multiple times on the
elephant hence killing it faster than usual)) Pangtong/Evil Pangtong can also
use 28A on the elephant. If Zhuge has the explosive fan, he can use it to
repeatedly stun the elephant, however the damage is very low and there is the
possibility that the elephant may retaliate. Thus, this method is only
recommended as a last resort... Also, Pangtong/Zhuge can use their 28B
(thunderstorm special) and Diao Chan can use her 82B special, both of which
deal relatively good damage to Mengyu.)

Note: If Menghu was scared away by ZhangFei to get the SuperLance previously in
Stage 3,he will join forces with Mengyu + Elephant. As such, watch out and
finish
Menghu before proceeding to fight the elephant. After this, there will be no
more
small soldiers which will appear to fight you.

Shamok

Shamok is a fire-based boss. Hence, he is afraid of all ice-based attacks.
Characters will ice attacks will have an advantage when fighting him. Do fight
him efficiently and utilize the first 20 seconds whereby there are no bulls
running out to attack him. Do try to attack him from behind and use damaging
attacks. Dodge whenever he is in his auto block state. With a little bit of
patience, this boss should be a breeze.

Fake Lubu

In this episode, Fake Lubu is further toughened up. While his power pales in
comparison to Real Lubu, he is still a formidable foe. As such, do use fire-
based attacks against him, as he is an ice-based boss. Preferably equip
yourself
with the Savage Armour to better protect yourself from his attacks. Use your
specials and items cleverly and he can be defeated.

Zuoci

The only boss capable of flight in the game, he is tough. However, that does
not
mean he is undefeatable. Lure the lightning from the terracotta statue in the
background and it will do substantial damage to his life bar. Avoid standing in
front of him for his ice attacks, which deal great damage, might hit you.

Sun Quan + Cao Cao

The pesky ZuoCi has revived the two leaders of their respective armies! These
two bosses are very easy to deal with if you can exploit their weaknesses. It
is
recommended to finish off Cao Cao first to stop those swords from landing on
your head. Use all the items that you have painstakingly accumulated here and
finish Cao Cao off by all means. After that, Sun Quan is yours for the taking.
His slow speed means that you can attack him after he does a move.

Real Lubu

The greatest headache in the game, but he is still fallible. He has fast speed,
great damage, auto block and high priority in his attacks. As such, do not
hesitate to use all your specials on him. Once you see him casting his
lightning, dodge all the 3 streaks as they will do great damage if they hit
you. Also, when he teleports, remember to run away. If not, you will be hit
from the back and sustain considerable damage (especially if you are not
equipped with the Savage Armour).

Important points to note

Remember to get the Black Beast if you want to get high score. Do your best not
to lose life at the boss area (Mengyu + Elephant) as the hunters and soldiers
are extremely aggressive there. Using a defence up book could be of help.
Remember also to equip yourself with the Savage Armour to stand a better chance
against the bosses. The soldiers in this stage are extremely aggressive, so
dodge whenever it is necessary. Finally, fight ZuoCi carefully to avoid losing
life unnecessarily.

Weapons and Armours

Halberd aka Fang Tian Hua Yi: (Power +45%, Unable to do specials (other than
formations or magic) )Defeat Fake Lubu and choose the option to kill him, after
which he will drop the weapon.

Savage Armour (Defence +20%, protects against lightning and ice): Defeat Mengyu
and the elephant and you will get it.

Items

Black Beast: Go into the secret room at the beginning of the stage and throw a
smoke bomb at the miner inside. Wait until he gets up and is giddy and press
66a
to knock the black beast out. Note that the miner must be on the left half of
the screen and facing the right before you throw out the smoke bomb to hit him.

Seven star: Defeat Mengyu + Elephant

Supply bull: Repeat the sequence you first see after hitting the stone statue
at
the beginning of the stage 3 times when you enter the secret room. If Zhuge or
Pangtong is not in the party, the metal box will contain a cureherb1 instead.

Holy Water: defeat the fatties after the raft ride

Red Sparrow: Defeat fake Lubu

Fire Scroll: defeat the first batch of bucket men in the Lubu secret chamber

Wind Scroll: defeat the second batch of soldiers (the wooden men) in the Lubu
secret chamber

Red Book: The last fisherman who jumps up unto the raft will drop it upon
defeating him.

Secret Rooms

Black beast room: Push up at the region that is surrounded by two flour sacs.
You will find this opening at the beginning of the stage (i.e. at the first
screen of stage 6).

Supply Bull secret room: at the beginning of the cave,hit the stone statue
without the hunter sleeping underneath it. The red pillars to the secret room
should open up. Then,memorise the sequence and go into the secret room before
killing all the soldiers

Lubu Chamber 1: Lure the lightning from the terracotta soldier to hit the stone
carvings on the first screen 2 times. The two blue dragons should surface and
you can jump down to the secret room.

Lubu Chamber 2: Recognise which side zuoci comes out from,and go to the side
opposite to it. (i.e zuoci appears from bottom right hand passage,so you go
into
the bottom left hand passage). Do note that you have to kill off the bucket men
fast enough to have ZuoCi to come out though.


Lubu Chamber 3: Recognise whether ZuoCi comes from the top or bottom passage
and
follow the passage. Do note that you have to kill off the wooden men fast
enough
to have ZuoCi to come out though.

General Surrender

Lubu: defeat him and choose not to kill him

Codes and secrets

The codes to make the 18 roles come out are as follows
For English version, (Nine Dragons)------Hold CD, press B4B6B
For Chinese (Traditional) version, (Fei Long Zai Tian)----Hold BC, press 4D6D4
For Chinese (Simplified) version, (Qun Xiong Zheng Ba)---Hold CD, press 6BBB4
Elephant: Press BC 3 times at Evil Huang Zhong. The timer should reset to 9
Wooden man : Press DC 3 times at Evil Guan Yu. The timer should reset to 9
Real Halberd (Fire): Press BD 3 times at Sun Quan. The timer should reset to 9
To fight 18 bosses in Boss Challenge even when playing 1 or 2-player game, hold
CD before selecting your character you want to use. Keep holding CD even after
you finish selecting your character, until you get to the selection screen and
see 18 blank boxes. Then, you can release the CD buttons.
For versus mode in Boss Challenge, play a multi-player game and defeat all 18
bosses. After you have done so, you will be in a versus game with your
teammate.



Miscellaneous (Stuff which are interesting to note)

Zhuge Liang's invincible anti-gravity (multi-player): Zhuge Liang has the
unique
ability to abuse his anti-gravity. When you perform that move, the opponent
will
float up and will be vulnerable to all physical attacks. Hit the opponent once
and he will bounce up and float up again. After this, the fun begins. When
playing a multi-player game, all the players can actually attack the boss
concurrently and the hits will intersect with one another (i.e. all the players
whose hits are normally very low in magnitude will increase to a high
magnitude).
This opens the option to kill a boss extremely quickly with power combinations.
It has been tested and proven that a team of Zhuge Liang, Blood Zhao Yun, Evil
Sun Quan and Pang Tong can kill off Niujin while the power up book is in effect
with the above-mentioned tactic within 10 seconds.

Pang Tongs's Lightning/Fire God Summon + Spikes

A famous trick. Summon a Lightning/Fire God and as the move is about to strike
the opponent,  do Pang Tong's Spike (28A) The Boss should be hit twice and high
up in the air dealing great damage. At this point of time, you can either spike
him again or combo him.

Earning Life

100 Million Points will earn you a life up so how in the world are you going to
earn that much? Basically the easiest method to accomplish this is to play a
four player game. Items required are Black Beast, White Tiger and A place with
corner You'll need the following characters for maximum effectiveness : Niujin,
Zhang He or Fake Diao Chan, Xia Hou Dun, CaoRen or Normal Diao Chan. Basically
just have Zhuge cast a stone array and Zhang He or Fake Diao Chan should haste
themselves with butterfly dance. Have Zhuge Change to Niujin and Unleash his
(236A) while Diao Chan or Zhang He do their 28A. It shouldn't take more than 
10
seconds for Niujin or Non-Hasted Characters to earn more than 100Million. Haste
characters do not earn as much as non-hasted ones so please do take note.

Infinite combo

You can perform infinite combos very easily using Zhuge's anti-gravity trick.
This allows you to earn remarkably high scores in the game. The method is to
try
to get the enemy to a side of the screen where he will not fall out of the
screen after combos. Then, perform the anti-gravity and get the enemy to float
up. Then, hit him once and wait for him to float again. Then, perform the usual
combo (i.e. AAA, AAA, AAA, AAA). Then, as the anti-gravity effect is about to
be
over and the king is about to fall onto the ground, do the anti-gravity again.
This time, if you are looking to gain score, you should summon Niujin out onto
the screen after the anti-gravity is in effect. He will hit the boss once when
he makes his landing and thus the combo hits will stay. Then, perform his
quarter-circle forward A move up to 4 times and press D to summon him back.
Then, immediately, before the enemy falls down, use the anti-gravity and call
out
Niujin, ensuring that he hits the enemy with when he is landing. Repeat this
and you are on your way to gaining score.

Stage 2 trick (thanks to Roy)

At the beginning of stage 2, when the dialogue asking you to set fire is over,
have any character with a forward b move which will make him hop forward
perform
that move, and you will find that the fire will be automatically set even if
you
did not press the A button repeatedly. Do note that if you do not press the A
button repeatedly, the fire will still eventually not be set. This works 50
percent of the time.

Zuo Ci Lightning

At the last stage of the game when Zuo Ci is reviving CaoCao or Sunquan. Just
mash the D button with white tiger chosen. The game will hang there with
lightnings all over until you release your tired fingers ^-^

Jamming the machine (works 100% of the time)

At stage 1, after the sun rises, have 1 player to stand at the top left hand
side of the screen such that he is not visible anywhere in the screen. Then,
with the player still outside the screen, not visible at all, set fire to the
dynamites to unlock the options. Choose to kill Xia Hou Dun and the game will
be
jammed. Note that this only works for 3 or 4 player games.

Funny numbers (thanks to limed)

When nobody is playing (ie at the intro), you hold down the C button on 1st
player and then hold down the B and D buttons on the 2nd player. Then, you hold
down A on the 1st player. You should see some numbers appearing on the top left
hand corner of the screen. (seems like it works only on some machines though,
but it's just for fun anyway...)

Stage 2 metal soldiers trick

Throw an ironlily in front of the blue leader of the metal soldier formation.
If he dies nicely, you will find that the other metal soldiers will not run
away, but will instead remain on the screen. You can then combo the metal
soldiers.


Red Words At Chiangling Road

Have Zhuge in the party with FireFan Equip..Notice the words become red...and
the screen sort of mess up. Why? We do not know :P

Imitation HookKnife

Get bitten by a snake with WizardKnife Equip, Ta-Da~! you have the
HookKnife...well sort off :P

There are many other ways to jam the machine which we will not
divulge....yet(speculate ppl...speculate!!!)






[Items]

Here is a small section dedicated to the items that you will encounter in the
game.

Smoke Bomb - Stuns opponents for 5 seconds and during this time you may combo
them. "Fighter" Type Characters (eg : Zhaoyun, DiaoChan) will throw up to 3
times when the smokebomb is used by them.

Iron Gun - Shoots a bead that penetrates opponents armor. Good vs Armored
soldiers or Armored horses. "Fighter" type Characters may shoot up to three
beads
at once and can be chained for combos. Bosses that have armor equipped (eg :
CaoCao will receive more damage)

Iron Lily - A iron flower that spreads its thorns up to 5 different directions.
Does damage equal to one full combo, however bosses take half damage from Iron
Lily.

Fire Bomb - Throws a bomb "Fighter" type characters may have their bombs bounce
up to three times. Note that it is possible to combo the bosses after they are
hit thrice by the bombs. Best used against animals or Wooden Man.

Holy Water - Restores 5 Morale Bars

Seven Star  - Ressurects a fallen ally from death. Reduces half of your
life to transfer to your ally. Usable as long as you have sufficient life to
transfer to your ally. If your lifebar is a mere silver (i.e. near death) then
you will not be able to resurrect your ally.

Detoxify Herb - Used to cure any status (Confusion/poison etc..) Or a
requirement for Ice fan and Hook Knife. Restores a silver of life if the
user is not confused or poisoned.

Ricebun - Heals a small amount of life

Chickenleg - Healing Item

Dumplings - Healing Item

BigBaoZi - Heals slightly more than Dumplings

Roasted Pig  - Healing Item

Supply Horse - Healing Item

Supply Bull - Healing Item

Ginseng - Portable and may be used anytime. Healing Item

Black Beast - Increases score earned for more hits/combos and grants infinite
sets for 25 seconds. Normally without black beast each character/surrendered
general can only do 4 sets + 1 additional (any) hit. While Black Beast is in
effect, all  characters/surrendered generals can do infinite sets, provided
they have a way to juggle the enemy, for example, Niu Jin's 236A or
Diao Chan's 28A.

White Tiger - Confuses opponents in the screen for 25 Seconds. During this
point of time, they may not attack you. They can still block your attacks
though.

Blue Dragon - Grants you Infinity Morale bars for 25 Seconds. During this point
of time you may do an unlimited amount of specials. Note that your morale bar
will be drained to 0 after the duration of the Blue Dragon seconds regardless
of
how many you had before activating.

Red Sparrow - Minor Defense Up + Minor Attack Up, all characters are granted
speed and jump height/distance for 25 seconds duration as if they were
wearing the feng shen pao (aka wind robe).

Red Book - Spear men from 2 directions rush through the screen. When used
against bosses, it will hit them up to 2 times

Dark Blue Book - 3 Catapaults appear from the side of the screen dealing
fire damage to enemies.

Purple Book - Assassins attempt to backstab for 3 Hits dealing major damage.

Power Up Book - Doubles the amount of damage dealt to enemies for 25 seconds
duration.

Defense Up Book - Reduces the amount of damage enemies does to you and grants
autoguard abilities to all characters for 25 seconds duration as if they were
wearing the auto defence armor.

Fire Scroll - Three huge tornados rushes through the screen juggling enemies

Wind Scroll - An eruption of fireballs fill the screen

Commoner's Scroll - Villagers rush through from either side of the screen
juggling enemies for good damage.

[General Recruitment Badges]

Xia Hou Dun - A requirement for his much better counterpart Xia Hou Yuan.

Cao Ren - Use him for crowd clearing or Elephant stabbing when Vs Meng Yu.
Normal attack kills potmen in one hit.

Zhang He - Lost his ability to Fire Spin infinitely unlike in KOV Original.
However when Butterfly Dance is activated (A+B) His 28A does decent damage.

Meng Huo - Best used vs Meng Yu (66A)

Wooden Man - Very slow,  be sure not to come in contact with any form of Fire
attacks as it will receive maximum damage.

Gan Ning - A good character to use, Given his fast speed and smoke based
attacks.

Niu Jin - The most used General in the game. Regardless for high score or
damage
dealing. Only use his 236A as the other moves are pretty useless.

Zhou Tai - 28A can stun opponents repeatedly, Has autoblock and a Vega style
pyscho crusher that does huge amount of damage when used with Stone Array.

Xu Huang -  28B does large amount of damage when used with Stone Array. Note
that Xu Huang can repeatedly mash the A button when fighting Meng Yu on the
elephant to deal huge amount of damage.

Xu Zhu - 28A does alot of damage...other than that, we suggest not to use him
due to his huge size and slow movement rate. However to compenstate off, High
Defence makes him a good general to use with Stone Array.

Xia Hou Yuan - The only general that has the ability to AAAA combo. Abuse his
uppercut attacks.

Cheng Yu - Has Weak defence and slow speed. However, his confusion tailsman
seem
to work pretty well with slow moving bosses. Note that his normal attack kills
Potmen in one hit.

CaoCao - Use his 28A when stone array is activated.

Lu Bu - Best General in the game, 28A does huge amount of damage when used with
Stone Array. However you are nearly to the end of the game :)

INTRODUCTION

This section is dedicated to Boss Challenge, the "small" part of Knights of
Valour 9 Dragons. This section will basically teach you how to get the highest
score by guiding you to choose the best bosses and characters to obtain the
high score.To play Boss Challange,you simply just have to select the last mode
which is "C" mode on the mode selection screen.This will then take you to the
character selection screen.

Ba Zhen Tu, 'Resetting' skills and its timing

-------------------

The most important skill in this mode is of course learning how to effectively
manoeuvre Zhuge Liang's Ba Zhen Tu special (Up-Down B) which lets you do
infinity
hits on bosses. The timing needed to perform the Ba Zhen Tu is explained below.

First,you should do the Ba Zhen Tu with the boss near the corner.Then summon
Niu Jin and
do his 236+A 4 times from about half of the screen(IMPORTANT!!IF YOU DONT DO
THIS,YOU CANT DO INFINITY HITS!!).After that, call back Niu Jin (Niu Jin should
not hit the boss as he makes his exit if you do this correctly) and quickly do
the Ba Zhen Tu again. The boss should float up again due to the effects of the
Ba Zhen Tu.Go near the boss and summon Niu Jin once again (Niu Jin should hit
the boss while making his entrance to continue the hits). Again,do 4 times
236+A from the centre of the screen.By repeating this,you can gain infinite
hits. (this apply to even "N" and "R" modes)

Combos During Ba Zhen Tu

You can deal bossess with massive damage while doing ba zhen tu.You can either
use generals
(recommended ones are Cao Cao and Xu Zhu) or use your ice fan.
Note:all combos below are to be executed when Ba Zhen Tu is activated.

Combo for Cao Cao:

1.Go near the person and hit him once(just press a) followed by 28b.
(the person should be facing you).

Corner combos

1.Go near the person and hit him once(just press a) followed by 28b then,while
the person
is suspended in the air,press aaa,aaa,236a.

2.Go near the person and hit him once(just press a) followed by 28b then,while
the person
is suspended in the air,press aaa,aaa,aaa,236a or 236b.

Combo for Xu Zhu

1.Go near the person and hit him once(just press a) followed by 28b then 236a.

Strategy

The only recommended character for this mode is Zhuge Liang as he has the
ability to summon
the eight battle diagram (Ba Zhen Tu)and create infinity combo while the best
score earner
is of course Niu Jin without doubt(236a).The second place goes to Cao Cao
because of his 236a.

I will not beat around the bush anymore and come straight to the point.I will
recommend the
best boss lineup(in my opinion) and when and where to do the combo.
There is also boss strategy and tips.

Recommended armor:Savage Armor

1.Niu jin(To maximise the no. of surrrender)

2.Cao Cao(Devastating attacks. Use to finish off bossess)

3.Huang Gai(easy timing to do Niu Jin's 236a)

4.Xu Zhu(Powerful attacks.use mainly to "save" Cao Cao in finishing bossess)

5.Xu Huang(Simple timing to do Niu Jin's 236a)

6.Zhou Tai(Break after using 9 Niu Jins)

7.Sun Quan(Advance timing to do Niu Jin's 236a)

8.Real Lu Bu*(your barrier to gaining high score)

9.Xia Hou Yuan/Shamok(easy timing to do Niu Jin's 236a)

*If you have score above 70 million (you should have if you follow this guide),
you will fight Real Lubu. If you have only 60 million,you will be fighting Fake
Lu Bu. If you get a score any lower than 60 million,you will go straight to the
final boss.

*note:all strategy is for Zhuge Liang only

1.Niu Jin

He is basically a simple boss.just use your fire fan and hit him but becareful
of his 236a
and fire attack as they will hurt you a lot. Alternatively, you can "ba zhen"
him and use ice fan to hit him for huge damage.

2.Cao Cao

Use the same tactis as Niu Jin(using fire fan)until he is left with 2
bar.Then,use all your
special(ba zhen and ice fan tactics)to finish him off before he get a chance to
do his "Xin
Shi Jian"(28b).This move is the tracing swords whereby they hit you if you do
not run around the screen.

3.Huang Gai

By now,you should have 7 Niu Jins. Use four of them on him before finishing him
off with the
icefan + Ba Zhen Tu tactic.

4.Xu Zhu

Use Cao Cao + Ba Zhen to kill him.You can also use fire fan to kill him of you
wish to save
you specials but beware of the consequences of losing a lot of life.

5.Xu Huang

Here comes the time where you need full concentration.Bring him to the left
corner and start
doing Niu Jin 236A as much as you can(with timing of course).You might also
want to combine
the combo with Cao Cao's 236A.Just remember not to use too much special.

6.Zhou Tai

Kill him swiftly with Ba Zhen Tu.Don't do any combo.the risk is involved is not
worth it.

7.Sun Quan

Same as Xu huang,bring him to the left corner and do niu jin 236 a(Use only
until you are
left with 2 Niu Jins).Then finish him off.Just be very careful of his Ba Wang
Chao Zhong(Down-Up B).

8(a).Real Lu Bu

Pray that he doesnt kill you(just joking ^-^).Use all the specials that you
have accumulated
in the form of storms(28b) and use your fire fan to hit him when he is in
mid-air.If you are
lucky,the thunder will hit him,causing big damage.Just be careful of his
ultimate attack(the
storm and rocks),lightning and teleporting attacks and you will own him.Note
that he is unaffected by the effects of Ba Zhen Tu.

8(b).Fake Lu Bu

An easy boss as he can be made to float using Ba Zhen Tu.Use strong generals
such as Xu Zhu and Cao Cao.You can also gain score by using Niu Jin on him.

9.Xia Hou Yuan/Shamok

Your last boss confrontation.Use all nine Niu Jins and all the general you have
on him.Just
take note that Xia Hou Yuan has only 2 life bars while Shamok has 3 life bars.
If you really want to maximise your score-earning, it is recommended that you
fight Shamok.

Miscellaneous

If you think that fighting only 9 bossess are too simple for you,you may want
to try fighting 16 bossess.Of course that means more challange and score.To
fight 16 bossess,simple hold "C+D" while choosing your character.It is
recommended that you use 2 person to fight this mode.

The recommended duo is Diao Chan and Zhuge Liang.Diao Chan is only for fighting
Real Lu Bu because in this mode,you will be fighting both Real Lu Bu and the
Elephant at the same time(^_^).What makes it worse is that Mengyu wont go down
from the elephant which means that you have to kill him in his "elephant"
form.After the last boss,you can fight your team mate.the purpose is still
unknown but you can summon generals to fight with your team mate. Just set your
icon as the boss you wanted to use and press B all the way (thanks to dralf).

CONGRATULATIONS!
You have defeated "C" mode and if you do all the Niu Jin combos properly, you
should gain about 2000 or more golden digit.
