I will put their names on the bottom so don't lie! Don't bother inserting your name in the bottom either as my original copy will always have the correct sites and GameFAQs will always be the first site I host my guides on. If you see different sites using this guide other than those listed on the one found at GameFAQs, they stole it! If you are a site that is not listed in the GameFAQs version, please remove it immediately! I just HATE people who copy/plagiarize other people’s work and call it their own. What is plagiarism you ask? It’s the technical word for the stealing of other people’s work. It’s also ILLEGAL in every state and country. Patchwork plagiarism is also illegal. This means that someone copies someone else’s work, changes a few words and/or paragraphs, and claims that it is an original work. In other words: DON’T DO IT without my permission!!!!!! Over time, I've gotten tired of all these sites asking to use my guides. People ask, "I read all of your guides. Can I use them on your site?" First off, I doubt anyone would really read through ALL of my guides. They probably just looked at my contributor page and thought they'd get an already written guide, without doing any work. Then, I'd have to go and update all of my guides. So therefore, my guides will ONLY be displayed on sites of my choosing. The sites that already have permission to use my guides may keep on using them, but from now on, my newest guides will have hosting privileges GameFAQs ONLY, and my own site. Other sites will be sites with special privileges, and will only get a guide of mine if I contact them personally. I apologize if you are a reader and find this to be a bit excessive but I wrote this guide for GameFAQs because it's a free site and I give it to them for free. Therefore, I don't want to see this anywhere except the places where I choose since it's also free to view there, as well. Page width of this document: This guide is best viewed in MS Word, Courier New, size 10 font, with 1 inch margins around the document. Apparently, when I change the margins in Word to 1 inch all around, it resets the left and right margins to .92 inches. Just to let you know. Also, I do NOT like dumb questions. Please do NOT ask me about anything that is already covered in the FAQ. In some of my FAQ's, I included a FAQ section for the most Frequently Asked Questions. Please look there, and look at the content of the main FAQ, and if you still don't understand, ask the message board. Personally, I do NOT like questions, period. Also, do NOT ask me anything about sequels, other games in a series, or anything within those lines. If you HAVE to ask me a question, keep it within the game I made a FAQ for. Praise is also accepted, but don't ask for a response, because I won't give you one. Honestly, I get enough junk mail day after day, and I am sick of it. I check my e-mail every day, but I would rather keep my inbox as small as possible. Also, don't try to sell me anything, as your e-mail will be deleted the moment I see it. Thank you, and good day. ***************************************************************************** *******************************Version History******************************* ***************************************************************************** Version 1.0: Created, and hopefully finished, the entire FAQ. Version 1.1: Aside from a few cosmetic changes, I added a warning about getting the Golden Diamond after catching all 50 Boos. ***************************************************************************** ********************************Introduction********************************* ***************************************************************************** It's been a long time since I've written a guide. I had recently picked up Luigi's Mansion and realized there wasn't a decent guide that covered the money totals throughout each room through the entire game. Therefore, I decided I'd write a good walkthrough for money grubbers like myself who aim for a perfect score. So therefore, I'd like to write a guide with the sole purpose of getting a perfect score and getting the maximum amount of cash to get the S Rank Mansion at the end of the game. Otherwise, Luigi's Mansion is just a game when I want a fun game between games. I don't play it often because of other game cravings, though I do love the comical nature of this game, and the fact that it can scare me as well. ************************************* **********Table of Contents********** ************************************* 1) Strategies for getting a perfect score Find Code: *1) 2) Walkthrough Find Code: *2) 3) Bosses Find Code: *3) 4) Gallery Ghosts Find Code: *4) 5) Speedy Spirits Find Code: *5) 6) Golden Mice Find Code: *6) 7) Plants Find Code: *7) 8) Sites which I have given my permission to use this guide Find Code: *8) 9) Credits Find Code: *9) Note: Find Codes conveniently allow you to skip to the section you're looking for. For most Internet browsers, you can push Ctrl-F to search for something in the web page. Enter the Find Code into the search box and hit Enter to skip down to the section you wish to view. Mac users will probably have to do it differently so I can't help you there. ***************************************************************************** ******************1) Strategies for getting a perfect score****************** ***************************************************************************** First and foremost, getting a perfect score is best done on a replay of the game, rather than doing it on the first playthrough of the game. Second, be prepared to reset the game a lot through the pause menu because each time you take a hit you may just want to reset the game a every time you take a hit so you don't lose a single coin. (You lose coins whenever you take a hit, and must collect them quickly again before they disappear.) Ok, to start out this FAQ, Luigi's Mansion is an action adventure game where you go around a haunted mansion and collect a bunch of stuff and eventually reach the final boss of the game. To defeat the ghosts you must take a leaf out of the Ghostbusters' book and use a super powered vacuum gleaner. Oh yeah, Nintendo totally stole that idea from that old TV show and the movie. Copyright issues aside, the game is really simple. You kill ghosts with a vacuum cleaner. That's about it. And you search for treasure. That's what this FAQ is about. The treasure, you goof. Killing ghosts isn't the main focus of this fact. Simple sentences are fun. They show this game is simple. Anyways, this FAQ is all about getting the most money from the mansion before your night of ghost busting is over. Therefore, you will get the A rank mansion with the highest score possible. It will give you a room-by-room total count of all money you've made up until that point in the mansion. It will also serve as more of a skeleton walkthrough, though it really doesn't get much more detailed than "Here's where the treasure is, so get it and kill the ghosts." I shouldn't have to tell you how to kill a ghost unless it's a more difficult ghost to kill. All you'll need to know is in here and from Professor E. Gadd's tutorial in the beginning of the game. Many times you'll see in the walkthrough a mention of the "wiggle-and-hold" technique. Quite frankly, it's the easiest way I've found to beat gallery ghosts and regular ghosts by doing the most damage without breaking a connection from the vacuum to the ghost. Just as the name implies, you will need to wiggle the Control Stick and hold away while vacuuming a ghost. Actually it's more like alternating between the two. You will want to wiggle the Control Stick away from the ghost to take chunks of life away. Then you should hold away from the ghost to retain your connection. Alternate between these two methods ever two seconds or so and keep repeating the process until the ghost is defeated. It's the most effective way to catch a ghost from what I've seen. You can try throwing in the C-Stick to face the ghost at all times, but the wiggle-and-hold technique is all that I really would use. (I got the maximum score on normal mode with that technique alone.) As an added mention of that technique, use it on all of the Gallery Ghosts, even on the easy ones. Practice makes perfect in this game, so never waste an opportunity to practice. The more Gallery Ghosts you can defeat in one pull, the more money you can make. Taking a Gallery Ghost's life from 100 to 0 in one pull will not only net you a gold frame for a perfect pull, but also net you four Small Pearls, four Medium Pearls, and one Large Pearl. The Large Pearls and smaller pearls are worth a hefty sum of money at the end of the game, and there are many Gallery Ghosts that have them. Also, you can only get Medium Pearls for every ten hit points you take away starting at 50 hit points, and a Large Pearl is obtained from taking away 90 hit points in one pull. As for searching for money, search every nook and cranny for cash, and when vacuuming special ghosts or chests that hold cash, try to get all of the loose change first before getting the chests (and gems from those chests). Gems last a few seconds longer than the cash before everything disappears, so get the cash first and gems later whenever possible. When grabbing a gem, Luigi will smile at the camera, and coins and dollars can disappear then. Therefore, it makes sense to grab as much of the regular money as possible, and then try to get the gems last. I prefer using sweeping motions around the chests and special money ghosts because you get the bulk of the money all at once, rather than a few at a time. Also, throughout the game there are money-bag ghosts. There are two kinds of special ghosts that explode into large amounts of money when vacuumed completely. The first is a Speedy Spirit, and the first one you will encounter. To beat these guys, read through the guide and know where they will show up, and know that they will always try to move behind Luigi. That way you can expect them to show up and turn the flashlight off so you can prepare to vacuum them. Preparing also means turning on the Sidestep control sequence, where you can then force them into a corner and then backing up into them and flashing your light to start vacuuming them. The other cash cow ghost is the Golden Mice, found all throughout the mansion. These little guys are easy to vacuum up, though they are fast and disappear quickly, though the rooms are usually small enough that you shouldn't miss them if unless you're sleeping. Also, only half of them will only appear when you inspect a piece of cheese in the room that those mice appear in, and the room has to be dark. The other half of the mice will appear randomly when entering the room. If they don't randomly appear, exit the room and go into a nearby room other than the room you just came from, and go back. Their locations, as well as the Speedy Spirits, are listed in the FAQ, and are listed in ALL CAPS in the rooms they are listed under for easier searching. Next, there is another way for making money. You can get money in places other than the various pieces of furniture and from defeating Gallery Ghosts and rare ghosts. There are a bunch of plants hanging around the mansion, so when you water them when you have the Water Element Medal, you can get gems and coins. Another thing to mention about the plants is that there is a giant plant in the Boneyard that you must water in Chapters Two, Three, and Four. If you water that plant each chapter, in Chapter Four you can get a Gold Diamond and a load of cash that will basically double your cash total from Chapter Three, if you get it at the start of Chapter Four. Finally, the last piece of information worth mentioning is that after an event that happens in Chapter Two, you'll be able to catch Boos that hide in nearly every room you clear. There are 50 total Boos in the game, and when you catch all of them the last one will have a Golden Diamond on him, which is your reward for being a Boo-catching master. That alone is worth more money than all the money you can get in Chapter One and them some. ***************************************************************************** *******************************2) Walkthrough******************************** ***************************************************************************** **********************Chapter One: The Living Quarters*********************** *****Foyer***** Key Item: PARLOR KEY Ah, the start of the game. This is the first room of the game, and it also is the first example of how the game will feel for the rest of the game. You are treated with a glimpse of the mansion from the outside, and then you go inside, ignoring the storms and crows squawking on an old dead tree. Cautiously, Luigi steps inside and looks around. He is welcomed by a completely pitch-black room, armed with nothing but his flashlight and his scared-stiff wits. To start out, you need to go upstairs and check the double doors. They're locked, so seeing as how you can't go anywhere yet, go back downstairs and there should be a short cut-scene where you see an orange mist float around and drop a key. After it's been dropped, walk over and pick up the Parlor Key. Then go back to the double doors and use the key to walk into the Parlor. *****Parlor***** Here in the Parlor, you will get nothing but a big cut-scene. Luigi will cautiously quiver through the room and that orange ghost will reappear, though much more clearly this time around. Luigi will back off and seem to meet his doom, when Professor E. Gadd comes in and starts using some sort of vacuum on the ghost. The ghost, clearly more powerful than the Professor, will pull his little body around the room and wallop him, promptly disappearing. Professor E. Gadd and Luigi get a few seconds to chat, before the orange ghost comes back with reinforcements. You then quickly run out to Professor E. Gadd's Lab, away from the mansion. *****The Lab***** Here, you and the Professor get a good chat, and you learn that Mario had gone into the mansion and hasn't returned yet. Therefore, Luigi volunteers to go and bring Mario back, dead or alive. (Of course, Nintendo's star character can't be dead, so we're going to bring him back alive.) So, Professor E. Gadd gives Luigi his Poltergust 3000, and gives Luigi a short training session. The max number of ghosts you can get is nine this time around, and the way to do that when there are a large number of ghosts is to run around the room until they're all in the same spot, then flash your light and suck them all up at the same time. You get nothing for it though. Next, you are treated to look in on the Gallery, or simply go back to the lab. If you want to waste time, Professor E. Gadd will give you more tips on how to search the mansion and a little tidbit on some Gallery Ghosts that had escaped his Gallery. Either way, you'll want to head back to the mansion and start your journey. *****Foyer***** Money Locations: Ceiling Light x1, Chandelier x1, Coins lying around Here we go, into the thick of things and armed with the ghost buster weapon of choice, the Poltergust 3000. To start out, talk with Toad, who has just recently shown up and is crying to your left. He'll save your game, and this is vital because since you are a money grubber you'll want to use him, and use him often. Start out by going upstairs and grabbing all the coins that are just sitting around. Then save the game again and go back upstairs and vacuum the chandelier. Lots of money should drop down below, and you'll want to grab it all. (That's why you save often, so you can get every last cent dropped in here, and in every future room.) Finally, you'll want to vacuum the ceiling light above the door covered in thorns. A few coins should pop out, so grab them all. NOTE: You should always get anything other than coins in an even amount, and that is, a multiple of five. That goes for coins as well, with the exception of about five rooms where you only get an odd number of coins from certain parts of these rooms. This is the first room, because you get only three coins from one set of coins lying around at the top of the room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 28 Dollars: 15 *****Parlor***** Key Item: ANTEROOM KEY Money Locations: Dish Cabinet x1, Low Cabinet x1, Nightstand x1, Chandelier x1, Coins lying around Enemies: Gold Ghost x3 We're back in the Parlor, and there are a lot of coins lying around. So grab them first and then search the cabinets in the corners of the rooms. Finally, try and see if you can get the Gold Bar in the chandelier hanging above you (vacuum it and walk around until you see dust). Try to avoid the purple candles until you're ready to fight. Next, vacuum the purple candles to put them out. The paintings will somehow laugh and try to scare you off, but we're not quitting so early in the game. So now you face three Gold Ghosts. These guys are easy, just walk away from then at first, and the turn around and flash your light in their face, and vacuum away. It doesn't take much effort and you fight them one at a time, so simply take them out and light up the room. After you grab the key from the chest, search the room for more loot, including the low cabinet that the purple candles were sitting on. Save and move on to the Anteroom. ***Money Total*** Coins: 73 Dollars: 35 Gold Bars: 1 *****Anteroom***** Money Locations: Nightstand x2, Chandelier x2 Enemies: Gold Ghost x4, Purple Puncher x2 The Anteroom is one of the most uneventful places in the entire mansion, so don't let it get you down. Start out by taking out all of the ghosts, and then looting the chandeliers and tables. The new enemy here is a purple puncher, and they have a long straight attack, so when they wind up their fist, run to the side. Otherwise all these ghosts should be easy and should cause little trouble. The table on the right should only have hearts, as I have never gotten any cash from it. Head left into the Wardrobe Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 88 Dollars: 50 Gold Bars: 2 *****Wardrobe Room***** Key Item: LIVING QUARTERS HALLWAY KEY Money Locations: Wardrobe x1 Enemies: Gold Ghost x3, Garbage Can Ghost x2, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 First things first, when you start out in this room, don't open any of the wardrobes. Instead, take out any ghost that may spawn before you do anything. Also, a new ghost shows up here. There's a green Garbage Can ghost, and he hurts you by dropping banana peels, hoping you will slip on one. Anyways, when the ghosts stop spawning, activate Sidestep Mode. Then open the right wardrobe. Introducing a Speedy Spirit, who is a ghost that when defeated, drops lots of cash. The way I catch these guys is to turn on Sidestep Mode and face away from an empty corner of the room. The Speedy Spirit should go to that corner of the room, so I back up into him and then shine the light and vacuum him up. After that, I grab every last cent he drops before doing anything else. When you take out the Speedy Spirit, open the left wardrobe and take out the last Gold Ghost hiding inside it. The key will appear above the clothing rack. Use your vacuum to bring it down. After that, the only place I think that has money in it is the middle wardrobe. Next go to the room on the left. ***Money Total*** Coins: 123 Dollars: 95 Gold Bars: 2 *****Living Quarters Balcony***** The only thing to do here is talk to Toad and light the balcony up. You'll come back here later to get some cash, but you can't get the money right now because you need the Water Element Medal. Head back around to the Foyer and go through the left door on the second floor. ***Money Total*** Coins: 123 Dollars: 95 Gold Bars: 2 *****Living Quarters Hallway***** Money Locations: Coins laying around Enemies: Various Introducing your first hallway, where the lights will not turn on until you complete the chapter. The ghosts here will respawn indefinitely each time you come here until you defeat Chauncey, the boss of this chapter. Anyways, grab the coins just sitting around and don't open any door unless I tell you to open a door. There are several fake doors that when opened, will slam you against the wall and cause you to lose coins and hearts. The door you want right now will be the far right door on the north side of the hallway. NOTE: The coins lying around here will make your total coins go from a multiple of five plus three to a multiple of five plus four. That means that you will gain coins in future rooms at a multiple of five, however you'll want to take a note that you're getting enough to come one coin short of a multiple of five coins. ***Money Total*** Coins: 134 Dollars: 95 Gold Bars: 2 *****Study***** Key Item: MASTER BEDROOM KEY Money Locations: Books x2, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Neville, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1, GOLD MOUSE x1 Introducing Neville, your first Gallery Ghost who is a piece of cake. However, my usual routine before taking out a Gallery Ghost is to loot the room of all treasure before taking it out. So first, search the books on the table and get some dollar bills. Next, grab the money out of the chandelier and save the game. You'll get your second Speedy Spirit here as well as your first Gold Mouse. You must get these before you take Neville out and turn the lights on. I would get the Speedy Spirit first, and he is in the chair behind the desk. Taking him out will net you lots of coins, some bills, and your first Ruby. Next, walk behind the desk and use your Game Boy Horror (push X) and examine the cheese. A Gold Mouse will pop out so vacuum it quickly and then grab all the money. You'll get your first Emerald from this mouse as well. All in all, you should now be ready for your first Gallery Ghost. To get Neville to show his heart so you can start vacuuming him up, you'll simply need to face away from him until he yawns. (Make sure to take out the flying book before we start.) Then the real fun begins. Neville is so easy you probably will take him from 100 to 0 without breaking a connection (and thus, getting yourself a Large Pearl), however, here's a run-down of how you should take out a Gallery Ghost: First, start out by holding away from the ghost until you're a fair distance away from it. Then wiggle the Control Stick away from the ghost and alternate between holding and wiggling the Control Stick. This will allow you to retain the connection and taking his HP down at a reasonable pace. Neville, however, will be easy enough that you should be able to get into a corner and wiggle the Control Stick away from him the entire time, thus taking his HP down in no time flat. Once you take out Neville, grab all the pearls. Since we are money grubbers, you should be taking all Gallery Ghosts down from 100 to 0 and netting yourself four small pearls, four medium pearls, and a large pearl. You won't get the large pearl if you don't take a gallery ghost down by 90 points in a single pull, but since we've done 90 in one you might as well do it well enough to take him down all the way in one shot. Finally grab the key from the chest and save the game. You'll want to head to the far left door on the north side of the hallway. ***Money Total*** Coins: 189 Dollars: 130 Gold Bars: 2 Small Pearl: 4 Medium Pearl: 4 Large Pearl: 4 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Master Bedroom***** Key Item: NURSERY KEY Money Locations: Dresser x2, Ceiling Fan x1 Enemies: Lydia Once again, grab all the money from the room. Open the dressers for a Gold Bar and some cash. Next, start vacuuming the ceiling fan and it'll rotate faster and faster until finally, some dollars will pop out. Next, it's time to take out Lydia. To get the battle started, use your vacuum and pull the curtains near her. Then back up and start shining your light on her until the usual heart pops out and begin vacuuming. You'll want to hold her in the bottom-right corner of the room and you might want to make your first attempt at the wiggle-and-hold technique. She'll break the connection if you don't hold her well enough, so if she doesn't push start and quit, then try again until you take her down from 100 to 0. She's not as hard as some bosses though she will take more effort than Neville did. Finally, once she's defeated grab the NURSERY KEY from the chest and save the game. The next room contains your first real boss fight. ***Money Total*** Coins: 199 Dollars: 165 Gold Bars: 3 Small Pearl: 8 Medium Pearl: 8 Large Pearl: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Nursery***** Key Item: 1F HALLWAY KEY Money Locations: Ceiling Light x1, Coins lying around Welcome to the Nursery, home of your first boss fight. As usual, grab the coins and search the room for more money so you can acquire the maximum amount of cash for the chapter. Just avoid vacuuming the rocking horse until you're ready to go for the first boss fight. You should find some coins around the rocking horse as well as in the ceiling light. Next save the game and get ready to fight. Start out by shaking the rocking horse with your Poltergust 3000. Chauncey will wake up and start throwing his stuffed animals at you. To get the real fight started, you'll need to vacuum his ball, and release it in his face. He'll then get really mad, shrink you, and transport you to his crib. That's where the real fight starts. NOTE: The coins lying around the rocking horse will change the amount of coins you get again. You should now get coins at a multiple of five plus three, rather than four. So you should always be short of two coins to make a multiple of five coins when gathering money in future locations. ***Money Total*** Coins: 213 Dollars: 165 Gold Bars: 3 Small Pearl: 8 Medium Pearl: 8 Large Pearl: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: Chauncey ** ***************************************************************************** * The fight with Chauncey is a fairly straight-forward fight. He first * * starts out by throwing rocking horses with you, and then several balls * * and then repeats. * * * * To avoid the rocking horses, stay in the middle and when it gets close * * run in the opposite direction that it is moving in, and you should be * * able to run past it as it flies towards you. * * * * The next step in this battle is to avoid the balls he sends at you. You * * will have to run around his crib and avoid the balls as they fly at you. * * After they stop coming in from out of nowhere, one will be left behind. * * That's your chance to do what you did before and grab the ball with your * * vacuum and release it at Chauncey. This will knock him off-balance and * * allow you to start vacuuming his life away. Just remember on boss fights * * you won't get it all in one go. To get a gold frame you have to fight a * * boss taking as little damage as possible. * * * * After you take a chunk of his life away, he'll get mad and bounce around * * his crib. This is easy to avoid as he only goes in a square around his * * crib clockwise. Then it's repeat and rinse, with only one exception. * * When he gets low on life he'll throw two rocking horses at you. Simply * * stand in the center and they should fly to both sides of you, missing * * you. * ***************************************************************************** After the fight is over, you'll get the 1F HALLWAY KEY, which will end the chapter and allow you access to the bulk of the mansion. You'll also get a running total of how much money you've made, as well as a raw total of what your score is up to this point, in Gold Pieces. (I believe this is the only Mario game that has ever used a currency other than coins.) ***Scenario Total*** 9,665,000G ************************Chapter Two: The First Floor************************* At the start of this chapter, simply go through the vine-covered door on the first floor. Now that you have the key from beating Chauncey, the vines will disappear and allow you to access the rest of the house. *****1F Hallway***** Money Locations: Vase x4 Enemies: Various, GOLD MOUSE x1 Here in the main hallway, you will find many ghosts that will not disappear until the next chapter. So make the most of it and loot the four vases that have money. They are in each corner of the hallway, so make sure to grab all the loot. Also, a Gold Mouse will randomly appear on the south end of the center section of the hallway. Simply walk over there and you have a random chance of it appearing. It should only take a few tries before it'll show up, and when it does, grab all the money it drops. (If it doesn't appear, go back two rooms to Parlor, for example, and then go back to that part of the hallway until it appears.) You should get four Gold Bars between the Gold Mouse and the vases. Anyways, take the southeastern door to the basement, as there is a bit of cash we can get there. ***Money Total*** Coins: 263 Dollars: 180 Gold Bars: 7 Small Pearl: 8 Medium Pearl: 8 Large Pearl: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****1F to BF Staircase***** Money Locations: Ceiling Light x1 Grab a few dollars hanging from the ceiling light and head into the north door at the bottom of the stairs. ***Money Total*** Coins: 263 Dollars: 185 Gold Bars: 7 Small Pearl: 8 Medium Pearl: 8 Large Pearl: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Breaker Room***** Money Locations: Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Mice, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 The whole reason we're here is to get some cash. Therefore, there're some coins in the ceiling light and a Speedy Spirit in the table (with a Sapphire). Grab all the money and go save, and head back into the main hallway. Our goal is the very northwest door right next to the vine-covered door. ***Money Total*** Coins: 288 Dollars: 190 Gold Bars: 7 Small Pearl: 8 Medium Pearl: 8 Large Pearl: 2 Sapphire: 1 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****1F Bathroom***** Key Item: BALLROOM KEY Enemies: White Grabbing Ghost x2 There's really nothing to do here other than kill two new enemies and head to the next area. Introducing the Grabbing Ghost, a ghost that will try to strangle Luigi and cause him to lose hearts and coins. The White Grabbing Ghost, found here, will only strangle you though. It won't cause any coin loss or heart loss. Just take these two out and grab the key, which appears on the shelf on the left corner of the room. The next stop if the first door on the right (from the Foyer) in the center portion of the main hallway. ***Money Total*** Coins: 288 Dollars: 190 Gold Bars: 7 Small Pearl: 8 Medium Pearl: 8 Large Pearl: 2 Sapphire: 1 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Ballroom***** Key Item: STORAGE ROOM KEY Money Locations: Chandelier x2 Enemies: The Floating Whirlwinds, Shy-Guy x6 First things first, grab some cash and a Gold Bar from the chandeliers, and then get to the ghost busting. To take out these Shy Guys, vacuum their masks off and then shine your light to vacuum them up. Next after you take all six out, it's time for another Gallery Ghost. The Floating Whirlwinds are easy enough to take down. They're easy like Neville was. You may not even need to use the wiggle-and-hold technique on these two. Just vacuum and wiggle away (no pun intended). Your reward is a chest with the Storage Room Key, connected to the very same room you're in. ***Money Total*** Coins: 303 Dollars: 205 Gold Bars: 8 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 1 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Storage Room***** Money Locations: Trash Can x1 Enemies: Purple Puncher x2, Grabbing Ghost x2, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 First things first.... there's a Speedy Spirit here in the chair next to the door you come in from and he has two Gold Bars. Grab that and every drop of cash that goes flying and then take out the normal ghosts. Turn on the lights and search the garbage can for some money. Next, look in the mirror, and it shows a button on the other side of the room. Push it, and a passage is revealed. Next, suck the poster off the wall in the new area and push the button there. You'll get a short cut-scene where fifty-one Boos will pop out of a hole in the ground and run away. Professor E. Gadd will ask you to come back to the lab for a short chat at activate your Boo Radar function on your Game Boy Horror. Now, you don't have a new place to go just yet, but we do have a new task awaiting us. Go back through the first area and grab every Boo you can get. Remember, you have to manually aim the Poltergust 3000 because you are in a lit room. Therefore, you have to use the C-Stick and the Control Stick at the same time to catch Boos. Also, remember that if any Boo runs into a room you can't enter yet you can always push start and restart your game. They'll be back in their original rooms so you can make another attempt at catching them. Here's a short list of the first Boos you can catch: BamBoo: In the Parlor, 30 HP. Bootha: In the Anteroom, 50 HP. GameBoo Advance: In the Wardrobe Room, 30 HP. TaBoo: In the Study, 50 HP. Boolicious: In the Master Bedroom, 30 HP. TurBoo: In the Nursery, 50 HP. Boo La La: In the Ballroom, 60 HP. GameBoo: In the Storage Room, 50 HP. Now, what do you need to do to go farther in the game? You need to catch at least five of those Boos and Professor E. Gadd will tell you to go to the Washroom and wash your face. That's the trigger to allow you to go farther into the game. If you try going there before you get five Boos, you'll be told by someone in the Washroom that it's... occupied. After you get the five, go to the room just south of the Bathroom you were in a short while ago. Coins: 328 Dollars: 215 Gold Bars: 10 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 1 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Washroom***** Key Item: FORTUNE TELLER'S ROOM KEY Money Locations: Wall Cabinet x1, Ceiling Light x1 There's not a whole lot to do here. Just search the usual ceiling light and the cabinet on the wall for some cash, then talk to Toad to turn the lights on. He'll also mention something that's in the toilet. Open it to find a very smelly FORTUNE TELLER'S ROOM KEY. (Hey, it's more of that whacky Nintendo humor, I guess.) The next room is the first door right of the entrance to the hallway from the Foyer, on the south side of the hall. Coins: 333 Dollars: 225 Gold Bars: 10 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 1 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Fortune Teller's Room***** Money Locations: Dresser x2 Enemies: GOLD MOUSE x1 As per usual, search both of the dressers for some cash. Then, use your Game Boy Horror and search for some cheese behind Clairvoya's little tent. Grab the Gold Mouse from that cheese for a large number of coins and a Sapphire. Now you can't turn on the lights in this room until much later in Chapter 3, but you can talk to her if you'd like. Just shine your light on her crystal ball until you hear the usual sound effect that you get when you "solve a mystery." Still, all you need to do is head east into the Mirror Room. (I recommend saving the game first because the enemies in here are difficult and you can't backtrack until you finish the room.) Coins: 373 Dollars: 245 Gold Bars: 11 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Mirror Room***** Key Item: FIRE ELEMENT MEDAL Enemies: Blue Grabbing Ghost x6 Boo: Kung Boo, 40 HP To my knowledge, there is no money in this room, just lots of hearts, so our score should stay the same by the end here. Anyways, it's your usual ghost- busting with a new enemy. These Blue Grabbing Ghosts are invisible, though you can see their reflection in the mirror. So it helps to turn on Sidestep Mode in this room and take them out one-by-one. Also, it helps to scare one away momentarily when you have to take out two at a time. Your reward for this room is the FIRE ELEMENT MEDAL. You can now vacuum up fire elemental ghosts in places where the fires in the mansion will not go out. It's a good tool for taking out ghosts that have a frost barrier, as well as taking them out completely. And as you might have guessed, it's used to solve puzzles, like the one in this room, for example. Grab a fire elemental from the torch and light the candles to remove the vines from the door. Grab another and head back one room to the Fortune Teller's Room. Coins: 373 Dollars: 245 Gold Bars: 11 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Fortune Teller's Room***** Key Item: LAUNDRY ROOM KEY Our score will be the same, seeing as we just got everything here and it isn't Chapter 3 yet. However, light the candles and you'll make a key appear. It's on top of a pillar on the right side of the room. Next, head out the way you came into the hallway and go straight west. Coins: 373 Dollars: 245 Gold Bars: 11 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Laundry Room***** Key Item: MARIO'S HAT Money Locations: CHEST x1, Soap Cabinet 1, Trash Can x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Purple Puncher x2, Grabbing Ghost x1, White Grabbing Ghost x1 Boo: Boogie, 40 HP Now, there is nothing new here, nor are there any new keys for later, but we do want to clear this room before moving ahead. Start out by clearing the ghosts and you'll get some more treasure. The chest here has a large amount of treasure, though I recommend getting the treasure chest last. I'd rather grab all the money from the trash can, ceiling light, and cabinet first, as well as getting MARIO'S HAT from the washing machine. It's a key item used later on, but it doesn't hurt to collect it now. If you want, take it back to Madame Clairvoya and get a short cut-scene about the fate of Mario. Next, grab the chest, which contains money and a Gold Bar. Also note that the trash can here is bugged. The money will sometimes fall into the wall and disappear completely, which really makes it hard to get all at once. You'll want to save before going for the trash can. Finally grab the Boo and head south into the Butler's Room. Coins: 408 Dollars: 280 Gold Bars: 13 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 2 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Butler's Room***** Money Locations: Tool Cabinet x1, Trash Can x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Shivers, Mice You can't clear this room just yet, but we will in a moment. First we'll need to loot the room before getting lighting the room. It makes it easier because there's a Gallery Ghost coming soon. Loot the tool cabinet, the ceiling light, and the trash can in the corner for a Sapphire. Next, grab a fire element from the candle and head back towards the washroom in the hallway. Coins: 428 Dollars: 305 Gold Bars: 13 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 3 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****1F Main Hallway***** There's only one thing we came out here for. Light the candelabra floating here and make a beeline back to the Butler's Room. Coins: 428 Dollars: 305 Gold Bars: 13 Small Pearl: 12 Medium Pearl: 12 Large Pearl: 3 Sapphire: 3 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Butler's Room***** Key Item: CONSERVATORY KEY Enemies: Shivers, Mice Boo: PeekaBoo, 40 HP First thing, before Shivers comes back suck up all the mice in the room. That's the whole reason we hurried here so we won't have interruptions while we take out the next Gallery Ghost. Shivers himself is also fairly easy, but use the wiggle-and-hold technique we need to practice for later on. Defeat him and grab the CONSERVATORY KEY from the chest. After you're done with him, grab another fire element from the candle and save the game. We're going to a special room connected to the Butler's Room. Use your Game Boy Horror on the north side of the room and search the mouse hole on the northeast side of the room. It'll create a vortex to a treasure- chest filled room. Coins: 428 Dollars: 305 Gold Bars: 13 Small Pearl: 16 Medium Pearl: 16 Large Pearl: 4 Sapphire: 3 Emerald: 1 Ruby: 1 *****Hidden Room***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Red Chest x2, Goblet x2, Chandelier x1 Enemies: Flash x4, Gold Bats Boo: GumBoo, 40 HP There is a trick to this room, and since you're the biggest money grubber around this is a room where you don't want to screw up. First, starting from the Butler's Room, grab a fire element, for a full fire power meter. KEY POINT: don't hold R at any time when you move between rooms. If you do, you be attacked by golden bats, which act and attack whenever you push R near them. Anyways, once you're in the room, back up into a corner and aim up towards the center of the room. Get all the bats in one go. Next, it's time to light the room up. There are four chests in here that have Flashes. Going clockwise from the bottom left corner, they are the far left chest, the upper left chest on the ledge, the center big chest, and the lower right chest. Now before you open these up and start doing your thing, remember that you got the fire element for a reason. Instead of doing the usual flash-and-suck routine, blast each one, one by one, with the fire element. Every time you run lower than 5 bars of fire power, go back into the Butler's Room and grab another fire elemental. (When you go back, the bats are there again so remember not to hold R until you are in a corner.) Once you light up the room, DON'T OPEN ANYTHING ELSE. Go back and save your game. Don't open the green chest either. When you come back from saving, vacuum the chandelier first and get some dollars, then look for the Boo in the room. If you open a chest that bursts with money while looking for it, get the money first, and leave the Boo for later. You can always quit and restart if the Boo gets away, or chase him down. But since you are a money grubber, don't let a cent pass you by. (Remember, you save if you catch a Boo, and then you might miss some money.) When the Boo is safely caught, and you are sure you didn't miss a cent or a dollar. Open each chest except the green chest one-at-a-time until you have every bit of money you can find. You'll find money in the upper-right chest and the lower-left chest. Also, grab two Gold Bars, each from the goblets in the room. Finally, we have the green chest. We've put this off until the very end because it has 3 gems, and the main goal before getting those gems is to get everything else that comes out of the chest before getting the gems (or else when we're grabbing the gems the coins and dollars will disappear). When you open the chest, vacuum the center of the room until you've got all the loose coins and bills, and then sweep the outside of the room a few seconds before the gems stop bouncing and are susceptible to the pull from the vacuum. Finally, once you have the coins and dollars listed below, grab the gems and the two Gold Bars in the middle. You should come out with these results below, which is what you get if you've done the mansion perfectly up until this point. The Conservatory is our next room to tackle, and it's the first door on the north wall to the right from the Washroom. Coins: 478 Dollars: 375 Gold Bars: 17 Small Pearl: 16 Medium Pearl: 16 Large Pearl: 4 Sapphire: 4 Emerald: 2 Ruby: 2 *****Conservatory***** Key Item: DINING ROOM KEY Money Locations: Dresser x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Melody Pianissima Boo: Boomeo, 40 HP As with all Gallery Ghost rooms, loot the money first. There should be some bills in the light and some coins and money in the dresser to the right of the piano. Next, save the game and inspect every instrument on the left side of the room. When all of the instruments are playing the Mario theme, go over to the piano and you'll talk with Melody. She'll then play a song and you'll have to guess which song she's playing. (The answer should either be Super Mario 3 or Water, depending on which song she plays.) Finally, you'll get a chance to battle her. You'll have to take out her musical sheets and she'll reveal her heart, then it's vacuuming time! Melody is also another easy ghost to get from 100 to 0, though it doesn't hurt to practice your technique. Grab the Boo and the DINING ROOM KEY, then head to the door on the left of the center hallway. Coins: 493 Dollars: 395 Gold Bars: 17 Small Pearl: 20 Medium Pearl: 20 Large Pearl: 5 Sapphire: 4 Emerald: 2 Ruby: 2 *****Dining Room***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Cabinet x1 Enemies: Mr. Luggs, Waiter x2, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1, GOLDEN MOUSE x1 Boo: Boodacious, 80 HP Let me just say, this: MR. LUGGS IS A PAIN! First off, he's very good at breaking your connection and it's very hard for a money grubber like yourself to get the full 100 to 0 drain in one shot. Second, he's the first of many Gallery Ghosts that require you to work for your gold frame. It will really require you to use your wiggle-and-hold technique to take him down that much in one go. However, we're getting ahead of ourselves. First, before taking on this gallery ghost, search the cabinets for money and a Speedy Spirit which holds an Emerald. Next, look for a piece of cheese under the chair in the back right portion of the room to get a Gold Mouse with two Gold Bars. Finally, save once you've gotten everything of value before you take on Mr. Luggs. Next, it's time to take on Mr. Luggs. After saving, come back and suck up all the bananas and the table cloth. Next, grab a fire spirit from one of the flaming pillars. Then, light the candles on the tables and suck up the rice that Mr. Luggs is eating. If two waiters approach the table, shine the flashlight on them and quickly go back to sucking the rice until you finally suck it all away. (If you hold the vacuum parallel to the ground, you should be able to get all the rice before the waiters arrive.) Next, Mr. Luggs will get angry and shoot fireballs in a pattern of one, then two, then three, then four, then five. When he finishes firing five fireballs at a time, he gets weak. That's your time to shine your light on him and finish him off. Now those pointers I'm talking about. What I did to get him in one shot was first have three fingers on the Control stick when I vacuumed him. If you haven't read the introductory section read it now. I'll also put the wiggle- and-hold technique here also. Every second or two you'll want to hold away from him and switch back from holding and wiggling away from him to pace yourself. You'll want to take his life down slowly, then quickly, and repeat that over and over again. You hold away from him to retain your connection, and wiggle quickly to take his life down quickly. Once Mr. Luggs is out of the way SAVE THE GAME! I did that first thing because it took me so long to take him out with a perfect score (on normal mode that is). The last thing I wanted to do was open his money chest and not get all of the loot from it due to it fading. What's the prize for getting the chest? It's your first Diamond, plus a bucket full of loot and two Gold Bars. Coins: 573 Dollars: 445 Gold Bars: 21 Small Pearl: 24 Medium Pearl: 24 Large Pearl: 6 Sapphire: 4 Emerald: 3 Ruby: 2 Diamond: 1 *****Kitchen***** Key Item: WATER ELEMENT MEDAL Money Locations: Dish Cabinet x1, Stove x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Flash x1, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1, GOLD MOUSE x1 Boo: Booligan, 80 HP This room may be a bit misleading. There's only one ghost apparently, however, there are two money-making ghosts that you should grab first. First, open the left stove for another Speedy Spirit who has a Sapphire. Then open the stove on the right and use the fire element to cook the pot for
a Ruby. There is also a Gold Mouse with an Emerald that appears randomly here, so grab that mouse as well. Finally, get the money from the center ceiling light and the dish cabinet. The last thing to do is light up the room, so make sure to grab a fire element and open the fridge FROM A DISTANCE. The fridge will whack you in the face if you stand in front of it when you open it. Then, burn the Flash away and take the Water Element Medal from the chest. Lastly, catch the Boo and get some water from the sink. Use it to extinguish the burning door. Now that you have a water gun, it's time to re-visit some old areas and water the plants for more cash. Go back to the first area's balcony that had Toad on it with the Water Element in hand. Coins: 643 Dollars: 475 Gold Bars: 21 Small Pearl: 24 Medium Pearl: 24 Large Pearl: 6 Sapphire: 5 Emerald: 4 Ruby: 3 Diamond: 1 *****Living Quarters Balcony***** Money Locations: Plant x4 Come all the way back here and water the right plant for a Gold Bar. The one next to that one will have a Sapphire and the one in the corner will have some dollar bills. Finally, the plant next to Toad will have some coins. When you're done here, go to the Master Bedroom with more water element. Coins: 653 Dollars: 485 Gold Bars: 22 Small Pearl: 24 Medium Pearl: 24 Large Pearl: 6 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 4 Ruby: 3 Diamond: 1 *****Master Bedroom***** Money Locations: Plant x1 Water the plant next the bed for an Emerald. Then head back to the kitchen and go through the door that was burning before you extinguished it. Coins: 652 Dollars: 485 Gold Bars: 22 Small Pearl: 24 Medium Pearl: 24 Large Pearl: 6 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 5 Ruby: 3 Diamond: 1 *****Boneyard***** Money Locations: Water the plant for a large amount of money later Enemies: Spooky, Mr. Bones x1 This room is pretty uneventful as far as cash goes. Otherwise, you'll want to grab a water element and water the plant before you take on Spooky. I save the game before because Spooky is the first required Gallery Ghost that you will need to practice your wiggle-and-hold technique. I think I've given you enough pointers by now, so just keep practicing it and you should be fine. When you've defeated Spooky, save your game first and then use your Game Boy Horror and search the mist by the dog house. Use it to warp to the Graveyard. We're about to take on the next big boss in the next area, Bogmire, and we can't get back to the Boneyard until we defeat him. Coins: 653 Dollars: 485 Gold Bars: 22 Small Pearl: 28 Medium Pearl: 28 Large Pearl: 7 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 5 Ruby: 3 Diamond: 1 *****Graveyard***** Key Item: COURTYARD KEY Money Locations: Pipe x1 Enemies: Mr. Bones x3 First, investigate the pipe to the right of where you come out of the tree stump. It'll contain a Ruby. Next, disturb the graves until some Mr. Bones will come out. Take them all out and the grave stone in the back will shine. Approach it and it's time to fight Bogmire. ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: Bogmire ** ***************************************************************************** * Again, like Chauncey, Bogmire is fairly straight-forward. There aren't * * many attacks to Bogmire. Simply suck up the black shadows of Bogmire and * * they'll transform into a ball that you can shoot at Bogmire, so you can * * start taking his HP down. As the fight drags on, you'll get more shadows * * to wade through. Simply vacuum them until you have a few left. Just try * * to bring their number down to about one or two before attacking Bogmire * * because you don't want to run into the shadows while draining his HP, and * * possibly ruining yourself of getting a Gold Frame (and some coins). All * * in all, he's the easiest boss in my opinion. * ***************************************************************************** As an added note, I HAVE gotten Bogmire from 100 to 0 in one pull. I was just very fortunate in how he pulled Luigi around that I took massive chunks of his life away in the Hidden Mansion mode. In my own opinion, he's the easiest and most uneventful boss in the game. ***Money Total*** Coins: 653 Dollars: 485 Gold Bars: 22 Small Pearl: 28 Medium Pearl: 28 Large Pearl: 7 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 5 Ruby: 4 Diamond: 1 ***Chapter Total*** 39,365,000G ***********************Chapter Three: The Second Floor*********************** The third chapter is now in place, and you'll notice the first floor hallway is now lit up. It's now a free roam through the hall, but first, head back to the Boneyard which was the second-to-last room we were in where we fought Spooky. *****Boneyard***** Money Locations: Water the plant for a large amount of money later Grab another water element and water the plant again. It should bloom into a big flower. That's all there is to this room at this time. Head back into the main hallway and head the northwest end where the door with vines is. ***Money Total*** Coins: 653 Dollars: 485 Gold Bars: 22 Small Pearl: 28 Medium Pearl: 28 Large Pearl: 7 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 5 Ruby: 4 Diamond: 1 *****Courtyard***** Key Item: MARIO'S LETTER Money Locations: CHEST x1, Statue x1, Plant x3 Enemies: Ceiling Surprise x1, Purple Bomber x3 First things first, you'll want to turn on the lights out here. There are a bunch of Purple Bombers here and a Ceiling Surprise. Take all four out and you won't have to bother with those little Flying Fishes while looting all the money here. Check the bird house before looting everything and grab Mario's Letter. You can take that to Clairvoya now if you want to. I'd save as usual before grabbing the chest. The next thing I do is go for the chest first because it's in a fairly safe spot as far and not making any other money appear. (It has your regular coins and dollars and two Gold Bars.) Also, there's a statue on the right that has money in it, and three of the four plants can be watered for money. The upper-right plant has an Emerald, and the lower left plant has a Gold Bar. Now the door on the right is locked, and there's a crying Toad in the shed (open it from the side as it will whack you in the face), but he won't save your game until you see what's in the well. Take his advice and jump down (hold R so you fall through and not take the ladder, you daredevil), and you'll be in the Bottom of the Well. ***Money Total*** Coins: 703 Dollars: 535 Gold Bars: 25 Small Pearl: 28 Medium Pearl: 28 Large Pearl: 7 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 4 Diamond: 1 *****Bottom of the Well***** Key Item: REC ROOM KEY Enemies: Ceiling Surprise x1 Here at the bottom of the well, move right and you'll crawl through an opening in the hole. You'll finally find out what happened to Mario. He's been trapped in a painting by King Boo. But, of course, we're only halfway through the game so the game designers made it so you can't get through the stone statue's mouth. I guess it's time for more mansion-crawling for us (as opposed to dungeon-crawling). So on your way out, grab the Ceiling Surprise and a key to the REC ROOM will be yours. Head back up to the Courtyard and talk to Toad again for another save point. Head into the Rec Room as there's a quick shortcut to the second floor from the first floor hallway. ***Money Total*** Coins: 703 Dollars: 535 Gold Bars: 25 Small Pearl: 28 Medium Pearl: 28 Large Pearl: 7 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 4 Diamond: 1 *****Rec Room***** Key Item: HALLWAY KEY Money Locations: CHEST x1, Dresser x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Biff Atlas, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Boo: Booregard, 100 HP Before we do anything, let's get a key for a shortcut. Run on the treadmill on the left side of the room and eventually you'll get a key. Head south out of the room and then head west to unlock the door. It will to make a shortcut to the second floor, and will speed up your runs to and from Toad on the first floor much more bearable. Right now, I'd go save as we have another Speedy Spirit to grab and some money to get before our next optional Gallery Ghost. First, check the left ceiling lamp and the dresser for a Gold Bar and some change, and the save. Check the bicycles to the right for a Speedy Spirit who holds a Ruby. Next, save and get ready for Biff Atlas. Biff rivals Mr. Luggs in difficulty, though by now you should be at least decent with your wiggle-and-hold technique so that you can defeat him in less tries than Mr. Luggs. To get his heart to show, you'll need to knock him out with the punching bags three times. Remember to avoid the bags on the return swing, and avoid Biff so he doesn't get too close and smack you around. Once he's down for the count it's time to do your thing. Next, save the game and grab the Boo. Finally, grab the chest, which has two Gold Bars and another Diamond. Head out into the hall which we visited just briefly (to the south). ***Money Total*** Coins: 753 Dollars: 570 Gold Bars: 28 Small Pearl: 32 Medium Pearl: 32 Large Pearl: 8 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 5 Diamond: 2 *****1F to 2F Staircase***** Money Locations: Chandelier x1 The chandelier has some dollars in it so grab them. Also, go back and grab more water power and extinguish the door like you did before. Let's head in to the Tea Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 753 Dollars: 580 Gold Bars: 28 Small Pearl: 32 Medium Pearl: 32 Large Pearl: 8 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 5 Diamond: 2 *****Tea Room***** Key Item: ICE ELEMENT MEDAL Money Locations: Dish Storage Cabinet x1, Chandelier x1 Enemies: White Grabbing Ghost x2, GOLD MOUSE x2 Boo: Boojangles, 50 HP This room contains two, count 'em, two Gold Mice. The first will appear randomly when you enter the room. The second is in a piece of cheese by a chair on the left side of the room behind the table. So try and avoid the Grabbing Ghosts and the flying dishware and grab both of them before turning the lights on. Both mice drop a Ruby, and there is another one in the dish storage cabinet on the right side of the room. While catching the mice, avoid the right side of the room because there is a Reverse Gravity Pad. It'll flip you on the ceiling making it hard to get all of the cash in one go. So pull them over to the left side of the room and try to vacuum them over there so you can get everything. Also, the chandelier has some dollars. Once you're done with lighting up the room, grab the Boo, use the Reverse Gravity Pad and drop down on the table, and get the Ice Element Medal. Head out of the room and west into the hallway. ***Money Total*** Coins: 813 Dollars: 615 Gold Bars: 28 Small Pearl: 32 Medium Pearl: 32 Large Pearl: 8 Sapphire: 6 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 2 *****2F Hallway***** Money Locations: Urn x4 Enemies: Various, GOLD MOUSE x1 Ah, your next hallway. Fortunately, you won't spend as much time here in this hallway because during this chapter you will be going back to old areas and clearing rooms you weren't able to get into before. Well, let's loot this hallway like usual. First, there's a random Gold Mouse in the south part of the hallway that appears as you turn right and head to the Sparks. It'll once again appear randomly, but don't miss out as it has a Sapphire. Also, the center urn in the north part has a Gold Bar and there's also one in the urn on the right side of the Sparks on the south end. (Also, don't vacuum those guys, they'll explode on you and cause massive damage. Burn them from far away if you have to take them out.) There are also two urns in the northwest and northeast that have some coins and dollars. When you're done, walk straight west on the north side into another washroom. ***Money Total*** Coins: 853 Dollars: 635 Gold Bars: 30 Small Pearl: 32 Medium Pearl: 32 Large Pearl: 8 Sapphire: 7 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 2 *****Washroom 2F***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Temper Terror x1 There's no Toad here this time. The first thing to do here is to aim up and grab the water elemental. Then open up the toilet and spray the Temper Terror down to light up the room. Next, I'd save the game before opening the money chest, as usual (it has a Gold Bar). Also, grab a couple coins from the ceiling light. Also, don't vacuum the poster as it has recoil and will hurt you when you try to get rid of it. (You can't get rid of it sadly.) The next location we need to go to is either door north of the washroom. I picked the right door. NOTE: This is the last room, I believe, where you get an odd number of coins. The ceiling lamp has an odd number of three coins. Your coin total should now be at a multiple of five plus one from now on. ***Money Total*** Coins: 876 Dollars: 655 Gold Bars: 31 Small Pearl: 32 Medium Pearl: 32 Large Pearl: 8 Sapphire: 7 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 2 *****Nana's Room***** Key Item: TWINS' ROOM KEY Money Locations: Dresser x1, Chandelier x1 Enemies: Nana, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Boo: LimBooger, 100 HP This section of the game is a little odd. Instead of this portion of the game being very linear, you have five rooms to visit including the Tea Room and Washroom 2F that you just visited. This room, however, is the first required room you need to do to progress the story. Anyways, let's do the usual and loot the room before taking on another Gallery Ghost. There's a Speedy Spirit here as well, and you'll be getting a lot of these\ guys from now on. Yay! More loot for us money grubbers. He's in the right chair and contains two Gold Bars. However, since this is a big room, my preference is to get the money from the chandelier and the dresser first. Last, we have Nana. To get her to show her heart, knock the balls of yarn off her table, and then shoot them at her. This time, she fights back, and somehow shoots lasers from her eyes. She only does that, though, when you've got a ball of yarn stuck in your Poltergust 3000. Anyways, you must hit her three times and quickly or else she'll disappear. When you do, just use your usual technique. She's a bit easier than some of the others but she WILL break the connection if you don't do so hot. When you're done, grab the usual Boo and the Twins' Room Key from the chest and go back to the Tea Room. Grab an ice elemental and save. Next, head go across the hall from Nana's Room to another Bathroom. ***Money Total*** Coins: 926 Dollars: 695 Gold Bars: 33 Small Pearl: 36 Medium Pearl: 36 Large Pearl: 9 Sapphire: 7 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 2 *****2F Bathroom***** Key Item: BILLIARDS ROOM KEY Enemies: Miss Petunia As with the other bathroom, there's not much to do here. All we need to do is take out Miss Petunia and grab the key. To do so, open the curtain and avoid her ball of water that she will throw at you. Then chill her out with your ice element and do your thing. Also, make sure that when you grab the pearls at the end to check the tub, as a few may have fallen inside and have to be pulled out by vacuuming them and then aiming the vacuum up. Grab the key and head downstairs to the Billiards' Room, which is the room next to the 1F Washroom. ***Money Total*** Coins: 926 Dollars: 695 Gold Bars: 33 Small Pearl: 40 Medium Pearl: 40 Large Pearl: 10 Sapphire: 7 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 2 *****Billiards' Room***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Dresser x2, Ceiling Fan x1 Enemies: Slim Bankshot, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Boo: Boohoo, 50 HP This is another optional room with tons of cash. First, grab the loot from the dressers (with one Gold Bar) and the ceiling fan (the same kind as in the Master Bedroom in Chapter 1). Then, grab another Speedy Spirit in a chair next to the table on the southeast side of the room (with a Sapphire). Lastly, it's time for an optional Gallery Ghost, Slim Bankshot. Start out by waiting for Slim to move around the table, and then suck up three balls, one at a time, and shoot them at Slim. After three hits he's vulnerable, so do your thing. He's a little bit harder than some ghosts to get from 100 to 0, but not impossible. Try to avoid the objects in the room as you do your duty. Finally, grab the Boo and another money chest (save first) which holds your third Diamond and two Gold Bars. (I think Diamonds are a reward for beating optional bosses.) Head into the room on the right, which is where we need to go. ***Money Total*** Coins: 971 Dollars: 740 Gold Bars: 36 Small Pearl: 44 Medium Pearl: 44 Large Pearl: 11 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Projection Room***** Key Item: MARIO'S GLOVE Money Locations: Movie Reel Cabinet x1, Light x1 Enemies: Purple Grabbing Ghost x6 Boo: ShamBoo, 50 HP As with the poster in the 2F Washroom, don't vacuum the screen because it will recoil and cause you to lose health and coins. Anyways, leave the projector alone for now and search the light on the right and the movie reel cabinet for cash. Then save the game and turn on the projector. Your fight in this room consists of more invisible Grabbing Ghosts, and this time they're the color purples. Fortunately, this is the last time you'll have to deal with invisible ghosts. Stay next to the screen and you'll be able to see the shadows of the Grabbing Ghosts so just turn, shine, and vacuum them. I recommend using the flash light to scare away all but one Grabbing Ghost and then take out the last. It'll be hard to avoid them when three show up. Just try your best and retain all of your money. When you light up the room, grab Mario's Glove from the chest and take it to Clairvoya again. The next room we have a key for is the Twin's Room, and that's back in the first area, adjacent to the Nursery. Also, get another Boo, making this your 20th if you've gotten them all. Since this is your 20th Boo, you'll have access to the boss of this chapter, though you still need the key to the door. If you don't have 20 Boos you'll be thrown to the Foyer before you make it to the chapter boss. ***Money Total*** Coins: 986 Dollars: 750 Gold Bars: 36 Small Pearl: 44 Medium Pearl: 44 Large Pearl: 11 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Twins' Room***** Key Item: MARIO'S SHOE Money Locations: Dresser x1, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Henry and Orville, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Boo: Booris, 100 HP There's another Speedy Spirit, so search the bunk bed and grab it. Also get some spare change from the dresser and the ceiling light. Then save as we have yet another Gallery Ghost. This time you'll be fighting Henry and Orville, at the same time. They only count as one Gallery Ghost though. To start things off, spin the airplanes on the ceiling and they'll eventually appear. They ask you to play Hide and Seek, so agree and leave the room. Reenter and there are a few boxes around. Use your vacuum and open only the boxes that shake when vacuumed. They'll call you out for cheating and then attack you. Start out by getting the twin on the ground, and vacuum his toy tractor. Take him out first and that leaves the twin on the plane. (By the way, you don't need go from 100 to 0 on the twin on the tractor.) Take the last twin out from 100 to 0 to get the gold frame and clear the room. Lastly, grab Mario's Shoe and the next Boo. I would have Madame Clairvoya read your fortune now on all four of Mario's items at this point if you haven't already. The reasons are that she's on our way back to the second floor and she can be captured after you have your fifth fortune read, so you don't want to have to back and have all your fortunes read a second time if you mess up. Our next stop is back on the second floor. Go to the central hallway and go through the only door you can go through on the right side. (The other door is sealed, but we'll go there later.) ***Money Total*** Coins: 1021 Dollars: 795 Gold Bars: 36 Small Pearl: 48 Medium Pearl: 48 Large Pearl: 12 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Astral Hall***** Money Locations: Table x1, Chandelier x1 Enemies: Orange Ghost x2, Shy Guy x4, White Grabbing Ghost x1 Boo: Boonswoggle, 100 HP In essence, this is simply a room for battle. The only real reason to clear this room is to catch the Boo afterwards, getting ever closer to your 50th Boo. Start out by opening the left table and searching the chandelier for money. Then go and get some fire power and light the candles. Remember, when ghosts start appearing, you can burn them away with fire if it makes the fight easier. Finally, grab the Boo and head right of the Astral Hall. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1046 Dollars: 810 Gold Bars: 36 Small Pearl: 48 Medium Pearl: 48 Large Pearl: 12 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Observatory***** Key Item: MARIO'S STAR Money Locations: Dresser x1 There is almost nothing to do here. There's a Gold Bar in the dresser and that's it. Check out the telescope and half the room will disappear, so that means there's nothing in the chandelier. Your next task is to suck up the shooting star in the newly appeared outer space portion of the room. Shoot them at the moon until they hit it. It'll probably take a few tries unless you get lucky on your first shot. A pathway will appear and you can get Mario's Star at the end. That's all there is to this room. You don't even light it up, but it's considered clear (Luigi still hums, not whistles, and the room is lit on the map since you checked the telescope). With the last item in hand, take it to Clairvoya. -***Money Total*** Coins: 1046 Dollars: 810 Gold Bars: 37 Small Pearl: 48 Medium Pearl: 48 Large Pearl: 12 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Fortune Teller Room***** Key Item: SAFARI ROOM KEY Enemies: Madame Clairvoya Boo: Booigi, 40 HP The first thing to do here is make sure you've gotten the Gold Mouse, which you should have gotten in Chapter 2. Next, if you haven't had Clairvoya read the first four fortunes do so now. Then save and have your last fortune read, and now it's her time to go. She's one of the easiest Gallery Ghosts to defeat, other than the small room which may cause you to run into the usual Poison Mushroom. Grab the Boo, head back to the second floor, and go all the way to the end of the hall to the third floor. Take the south door as the north door is a trap. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1046 Dollars: 810 Gold Bars: 37 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Safari Room***** Key Item: BALCONY KEY Money Locations: Ceiling Light x2 Enemies: Blue Blaze x3, Garbage Can Ghost x2, GOLD MOUSE x1 Boo: Little Boo Peep First and foremost, stay away from the hunting trophies on the wall as you search for money in the lights. Also, get another Gold Mouse in some cheese near the chair. Finally, save and grab an ice elemental from the Tea Room. Shake the trophies and you'll fight a few Blue Blazes and Garbage Can Ghosts. Grab the BALCONY KEY, the Boo, and another water elemental, preferably from the 2F Washroom. Head west from the Safari Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1081 Dollars: 850 Gold Bars: 38 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****East Hall***** Let's do a final check before we end this chapter. You'll need 20 Boos to proceed through the door to the north, but you should have 24 by now. Also, make sure you've watered the plant in the Boneyard a second time. Finally, have a water element before going to the Balcony, as there are plants to water for treasure. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1081 Dollars: 850 Gold Bars: 38 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 6 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 *****Balcony***** Key Item: WEST HALL KEY Money Locations: Plant x13 Like I said, there are a lot of plants to water here. Going counter- clockwise, there's an Emerald, Gold Bar, Red Quartz, coins, dollars, both dollars and coins, both dollars and coins again, dollars, a heart, an Emerald, another heart, both dollars and coins again, coins, dollars, and finally a Gold Bar. Go back and save before approaching the circle of Boos. Now that Red Quartz should be worth something. Oh yeah, it's the second to last item on the list so it must be valuable. Wrong. The Red Quartz is worth as much as a single coin. Meaning it's almost not worth to get it, other than being a money grubber. It's good for completion but it's not good for much else. Anyways, it's time to take on the chapter boss, Boolossus. ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: Boolossus ** ***************************************************************************** * Boolossus can easily rival the final boss in terms of difficulty of * * getting the gold frame. It starts out easy, as any boss should, but * * then gets harder as the fight goes on. To start the fight, run either * * left or right and stay there the entire fight. You'll want to hang by * * one of the statues for a cache of ice elementals. Now, the next thing * * you should know is you need to pop Boolossus on one of the statues. You * * can use your Poltergust 3000 to affect his path slightly in the beginning * * and later to throw him into a statue. After this is done, ice down the * * smaller Boos while avoiding the rest, and vacuum up the frozen Boos. * * * * As there becomes less and less Boos, they get faster and faster, so you * * may want to try shoot blocks of ice by clicking down the L button * * (pushing it in all the way and then loosening the tension so you can * * click it again). I found it easier to stay on the south side of the * * arena and shoot straight north when a Boo was straight north of me. * * * * Finally, when you get down to your last Boo, Boolossus will not reform * * and you have to take that last one out. The worst part is that the * * sucker is very fast and evasive. The easiest way to get him is stop * * holding L down and when he's about to ram you, freeze him. That should * * take care of the battle plain and simple, though it'll be hard to avoid * * the ramming from all of the other Boos while you're taking down their * * friends. * ***************************************************************************** Note: Boolossus is worth 15 Boos, so you should have 39 Boos by now. With Boolossus down for the count, grab the West Hall Key and Professor E. Gadd will invite you over for dinner. Back at the lab, it's time to put the ghosts back into portraits and get your current score for the chapter. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1111 Dollars: 895 Gold Bars: 40 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 8 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 ***Chapter Total*** 72,660,000G ***************Chapter Four: The Third Floor and the Basement**************** Back in the mansion one final time, you make a dash to find Mario, and it takes you back-and-forth between the third floor and the basement, with the final destination in the basement. There's many more optional Gallery Ghosts, as well as a plethora of cash. Start out by going to the Boneyard, where we've been to twice now. *****Boneyard***** Money Locations: Giant Plant The giant plant has grown once more, and finally it's time to reap the benefits of us watering it each chapter. It will literally contain more money than most rooms in the mansion, as that's primarily due to the Golden Diamond in it. It also has two Gold Bars in it, so grab them and every last cent in it before it all fades away. Save the game after getting it all, and then head back to the Balcony. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1141 Dollars: 915 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 8 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Balcony***** Here's where the biggest pain in the game is. It's the blackout event, and we have to do this perfectly or we won't get every last cent in the game that we need to get the biggest score. I would grab a fire element on the way to the Balcony as you'll want it to kill some ghosts later on. Approach the door on the west end and lightning will strike the mansion. This will cut the power in every room and make the ghosts run rampant. Now, as you go through the blackout event, I recommend turning on Sidestep Mode and keeping your back to the walls at all times to avoid ghosts from appearing and causing damage. It'll make this event go by so much easier when you don't have ghosts attacking you from all angles. Having your back to the wall and your flashlight pointing straight out will make it so the ghosts won't appear nearly as much. Head through the door you just unlocked and into the West Hall. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1141 Dollars: 915 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 8 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****West Hall***** This part is totally optional, and gives you clues to what to do next. Go through the southeast door to the Telephone Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1141 Dollars: 915 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 8 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Telephone Room***** This room is optional, but it gives you hints on how to turn the power back on. When you pick up the telephones, you'll talk to Toad first and then to Professor E. Gadd. Toad will mention the Breaker Room, which we've been to once to grab a Speedy Spirit. Then Professor E. Gadd will mention that you should look for Uncle Grimmly while the mansion is so dark. Uncle Grimmly likes to live in complete darkness, which we have now. Anyways, some ghosts will then appear, and you have to defeat them to proceed back the way you came. The next stop is down on the first floor back at the Conservatory (which has all those instruments). NOTE: Try to avoid getting the money in this room. We'll get the money later, when we come back to light up the room normally, when the power to the mansion is back on. It just makes the blackout harder than it needs to be. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1141 Dollars: 915 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 8 Ruby: 8 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Conservatory***** Enemies: Golden Ghost x3, Purple Puncher x1, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Ok, is Sidestep Mode on? It really helps to clear these rooms and get our three Speedy Spirits here that only appear during the blackout. When you first enter the room, go in the southwest corner and turn your back to the room. Grab the first Golden Ghost and then go back in the corner. With your back turned to the room, approach the trumpet to make just the Purple Puncher appear. Do your thing and then move right into the room slightly to get the next two Golden Ghosts, one at a time. Then search the piano bench for your first Speedy Spirit during the blackout. He's usually the make-or-break Speedy Spirit because I have a hard time collecting every coin and dollar he drops with all of the objects in the room getting in the way. Try to get the money to fall in such a way that it doesn't go past the piano. That means get the Speedy Spirit in the southwest corner. You'll get a Ruby and lots of spare change when you take him out. Anyways, the next stop is in the Hidden Room, which is also in the first floor on the southwest side of the main hallway. Remember, to get there you need to go through the mouse hole in the Butler's Room. NOTE: You may want to fight in the Butler's Room to avoid any potential damage when changing rooms. There's also a fire element in the candle, so you can use that to burn ghosts and make things easier. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1161 Dollars: 920 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 8 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Hidden Room***** Enemies: White Grabbing Ghost x1, Blue Twirler x2, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Remember when changing rooms DO NOT hold the R button down. Otherwise the gold bats will attack you. The first thing I do is scare all the ghosts away. The Blue Twirlers can really mess you up if you let them get a hit in, and may ruin your current run here when you want to keep every coin you have. To take them out I recommend getting in a corner and first getting rid of all the bats. Then I burn the ghosts one by one until it's safe to get the Speedy Spirit. The Speedy Spirit is in the rightmost chest. He contains more money and an Emerald. It should be easier to get all the money because it's such a small room. The next stop is back in area one, where we fought Chauncey. To the Nursery! ***Money Total*** Coins: 1181 Dollars: 925 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Nursery***** Enemies: Golden Ghost x2, Blue Twirler x1, Purple Puncher x1, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 The last Speedy Spirit is here when we have the blackout. Take out the enemies with the highly recommended fire elemental. Then, shake the crib for the last Speedy Spirit. You should be able to easily get the money in time as there is no jewel to get from this one. Finally, our last target is Uncle Grimmly in the Wardrobe Room. He's just a short ways away in the second floor, just off the second floor of the Foyer. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1201 Dollars: 955 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 52 Medium Pearl: 52 Large Pearl: 13 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Wardrobe Room***** Key Item: BREAKER ROOM KEY Enemies: Uncle Grimmly Uncle Grimmly is one of the easiest Gallery Ghosts in the game to catch. He's down on the level that if you get anything other that a gold frame, you should be ashamed of yourself. To get him to show his heart, simply have your back to him and wait for him to try and scare you. Then turn and burn. Your reward is a chest with the BREAKER ROOM KEY. That's in the basement, accessible from the southeast end of the first floor hallway and then through the door on the north side at the bottom of the stairs. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1201 Dollars: 955 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 56 Medium Pearl: 56 Large Pearl: 14 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Breaker Room***** Key Item: CELLAR KEY Enemies: Mice Boo: Boo B. Hatch, 200 HP When coming to the end of the blackout, make a beeline to the switch in the middle of the room and turn it on. The lights will turn back on in every room you've ever cleared. Grab the CELLAR KEY from the chest and SAVE. Now, the Boo here is probably too hard to catch until you clear a room or two in the basement. So start out by going south into the Cellar from the staircase leading to the basement. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1201 Dollars: 955 Gold Bars: 42 Small Pearl: 56 Medium Pearl: 56 Large Pearl: 14 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Cellar***** Key Item: CLOCKWORK ROOM KEY Money Locations: Shelf x6 Enemies: Purple Puncher x2, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1 Boo: Booripedes, 100 HP The first thing to do is grab yet another Speedy Spirit in the box on the left. Simply tap it with the A button and aim up, grabbing is as soon as its heart shows up. All the money should safely fall between the wall and the fence (with two Gold Bars). Next, check the barrels for some Purple Punchers. An easy way to go from one end of this room to the other is to vacuum the dust on either the northeast or southwest sides of the room. Then, step on the Reverse Gravity Pads and walk over to the door on the other side of the room. First though, loot all of the shelves in the room for a large amount of cash and two Gold Bars. Grab the CLOCKWORK ROOM KEY also. You can also grab two Boos now, with some difficulty. You can get the first one here in the Cellar, and the other one from the Breaker Room. Just stay on the left side of the Basement Hallway and vacuum them until they go back into their original rooms. You should be able to get both of them and your 40th Boo. In order to fight the final boss at the end of this chapter, you need at least 40 Boos in order to enter his room. Otherwise he'll send you to the Foyer. (It's kind of pitiful that it's that many, since you should have had somewhere around 35-39 Boos when you ended Chapter 3.) Our next stop is to backtrack to the first floor and go all the way back up to the third floor. We're going to revisit the Telephone Room, which you may have visited briefly during the blackout. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1241 Dollars: 975 Gold Bars: 46 Small Pearl: 56 Medium Pearl: 56 Large Pearl: 14 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Telephone Room***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Dresser x1, Wood Chest x1, Light x1 Enemies: Mr. Bones x2 Boo: Boomerang, 300 HP There's little to do here, just the usual "kill ghosts and loot the money" deal. There are two Mr. Bones here, and they are both in the wood chests. The third wood chest will have some money in it. Also, get some money from the dresser and light on the right side of the room. Next, go north one room to the Clockwork Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1306 Dollars: 1015 Gold Bars: 47 Small Pearl: 56 Medium Pearl: 56 Large Pearl: 14 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Clockwork Room***** Money Locations: Light x2 Enemies: Clockwork Soldiers Boo: Six 'o Clock Boos, 300 HP First off, as with any Gallery Ghost room, grab some money from the money locations. There is some money in the ceiling lamps. Next, note that the Clockwork Soldiers are one of the harder Gallery Ghosts to get a gold frame on. To start off, tap the clocks in the corners and near the west table to get them to come after you. You'll need to vacuum them when they come towards you and shoot their guns at you. Also, leave the blue soldier until the very last, as he is the one who determines the gold frame and how many pearls you will get from the battle. You'll have to run from one end of the room and catch the green and red soldier when you get the chance. Also, avoid the other soldiers when you're vacuuming another, because they can easily hit you with their guns. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1311 Dollars: 1020 Gold Bars: 47 Small Pearl: 60 Medium Pearl: 60 Large Pearl: 15 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Roof***** Key Item: ARMORY KEY Enemies: Shy Guy x6, Flash x2 Here we are, on top of the mansion, with lots of ghosts to kill and absolutely no money to loot. Oh well. You'll want a fire elemental, and you can get one in the fire here if you haven't gotten one already. Try to get it before you take out all the Shy Guys as you have two Flashes afterwards. Now technically, the room lights up, but I don't really say it does. Luigi still hums instead of whistles, and in reality, this is where the last boss fight is. So even though it gets slightly brighter, there are no lamps or anything to signify that this is a cleared room. Anyways, go over to the west chimney and push A to climb the ladder. Then grab the ARMORY KEY and go to the east chimney. There isn't a grate here so fall right down to the Sealed Room. Or, if you don't want an optional room, go back down the elevator to the clockwork room. There's tons of treasure in the Sealed Room and two rooms after that though. You might as well do it. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1311 Dollars: 1020 Gold Bars: 47 Small Pearl: 60 Medium Pearl: 60 Large Pearl: 15 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 9 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Sealed Room***** Key Item: SITTING ROOM KEY Money Locations: Chest x7, Trophy x3, Chandelier x1 Enemies: Golden Ghost x1, Purple Puncher x1, Blue Twirler x1, Purple Bomber x1, SPEEDY SPIRIT x1, GOLD MOUSE x1 This is the best room for treasure in the game, aside from the single cash cows, the Golden Pearls. To start out, don't go crazy and grab up everything you can get. You'll want to make a few trips here to make sure you've gotten everything. Also, there is a randomly appearing Gold Mouse. He's a pain to get because you generally have to make several trips here to get him. That means you have to go all the way through the mansion to get back here. The benefit of the Gold Mouse is basically doubles the money in the entire room (not counting the Emerald and Gold Bars). (The Gold Mouse gives 30 coins and 40 dollars, which is more than any other Gold Mouse or Speedy Spirit in the game. He alone gives you have a 550,000G at the end of the scenario.) Oh yeah, to get out of this room pull the towel off the mirror and use your Game Boy Horror (X button) to search it and warp back to the Foyer. Anyways, the first thing to get here besides the Gold Mouse is the Speedy Spirit. He is located in the chest to the right of the long table (he has your last Emerald, the tenth one). Now start at the chest to the left of the chest on the carpet, and go counter-clockwise around the room. The last chest you want is the one on the carpet, as the ghosts in the room appear from opening this one. (I recommend using a fire elemental to make things easier as you fight four ghosts at once.) Make sure to get the Gold Mouse and Speedy Spirit before opening this though. All in all, you'll get money from every chest except the two mentioned above. You'll also get a Gold Bar from every trophy. Don't forget about some dollars in the chandelier either. When you've cleaned it out, grab the Sitting Room Key and warp once more to the Foyer. Then, go back to the second floor to the Sitting Room, which is the southernmost door in the hallway. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1416 Dollars: 1135 Gold Bars: 51 Small Pearl: 60 Medium Pearl: 60 Large Pearl: 15 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Sitting Room***** Money Locations: Plant x1 Enemies: Golden Ghost x6, Temper Terror x2 Boo: Boolivia, 100 HP This is just another bonus room for combat and another Boo. You have to fight to go back or forwards though. So first, light the candles on the wall with help from the candle on the table. Immediately after, grab a water element from the pot. Hose down all the Golden Ghosts and Temper Terrors and you'll light up the room. Water the plant afterwards for a Gold Bar. When you're done you can grab another Boo. (You'll see why we're still collecting all the Boos before long.) Save and move to the Guest Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1416 Dollars: 1130 Gold Bars: 52 Small Pearl: 60 Medium Pearl: 60 Large Pearl: 15 Sapphire: 8 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 3 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Guest Room***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Table x1, Plant x1 Enemies: Sue Pea Immediately when you enter this room you'll notice that it's upside-down. Try as you might, you can't loot the room until you've finished off Sue Pea. You'll need a water elemental before you do anything here, and there's conveniently one in the previous room. Anyways you'll want to wake up the sleeping ghost, Sue Pea, with water. If you're scared, don't be. She has more bark than bite. She's one of the easier Gallery Ghosts in the game, or at least I've had no trouble with her. Oh, and before you shine and suck, take out the dolls first before you work on Sue Pea. It makes it easy if you don't have dolls attacking you all the time. Now, the chest will appear on the ceiling, but how will you get it? It's easy. Just leave the room and you'll hear a rumble. Go back inside and it'll be right-side up. You can then water the plant for a Sapphire, and loot the dresser beside the bed. Finally, grab the chest, which will contain lots of loot, a Diamond, and two Gold Bars. The next location is where we should have gone to before our little side quest, and now it's time to get back on track. Go up to the third floor, to the West Hallway, and through the door opposite of the Armory. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1446 Dollars: 1165 Gold Bars: 54 Small Pearl: 64 Medium Pearl: 64 Large Pearl: 16 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 4 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Armory***** Key Item: PIPE ROOM KEY Money Locations: Iron Chest x3 Enemies: Golden Ghost x1, Purple Puncher x2, Grabbing Ghost x1, Blue Twirler x1, Garbage Can Ghost x1 Boo: UnderBoo, 150 HP The first thing, as usual, is to take out the ghosts before doing anything else. Use your vacuum and vacuum all of the suits of armor until you find the four suits of armor that won't open their helmets when vacuumed. Then, tap these four suits of armor with A and NOT FROM THE FRONT. If you tap them from the front, they'll smack you hard with their maces. The fifth and sixth ghosts are in chests. The fifth one is in the chest on the south side of the room, and the sixth one is in the chest that is the second from the left in the back. With that, you can now loot the room, though I suggest saving the game before because you might lose some money due to the cramped room. There is a Gold Bar in the chest perpendicular to the north wall. Also, there are some coins and such in the other two chests. Finally, there's the PIPE ROOM KEY and the Boo. To catch the latest Boo, try to stay on the left side of the room and get him into the hallway, and force him into the Telephone Room where you can finish him off. We have another bonus room here, and the door is north of the Armory. (Don't use the door in the West Hall, it's a trap. The Game Boy Horror might mislead you a bit showing you the Pipe Room door, which is on the east side of the BASEMENT hallway.) ***Money Total*** Coins: 1486 Dollars: 1205 Gold Bars: 55 Small Pearl: 64 Medium Pearl: 64 Large Pearl: 16 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 9 Diamond: 4 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Ceramics Studio***** Money Locations: CHEST x1, Jar x6, Ceiling Light x1 Enemies: Jarvis The first thing to do here is to grab the ice elemental and mess with the pots a bit. Jarvis will see you touching his pots and tell you that you have to beat him at a game before you can do anything with the pots. (You can't get money from the pots just yet, he'll stop you before you get a chance.) So, agree to play and freeze him seven times to make him vulnerable. When he becomes vulnerable he'll throw some jars at you from around the room. I suggest getting the jars first by standing in the southeast corner and vacuuming away. Doing this allows you no interruptions when taking down Jarvis himself. (He's quite easy also. The optional Gallery Ghosts lately seem much easier than the other Gallery Ghosts where in previous chapters.) When you've got Jarvis down for the count, grab all the money in the jars and the light. You should end up with two Gold Bars, a Ruby (your 10th and last), some coins, and some dollars. Next, grab the Boo. Then, I would save the game as there are lots of nooks and crannies where the coins from the chest may fly off to, and you want to get it all. (The chest contains your last Diamond, and two more Gold Bars.) Our next stop is clear on the other end of the mansion, all the way back in the basement. Go all the way back to the Cellar, the room with all that dust, and head through the west door. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1516 Dollars: 1240 Gold Bars: 59 Small Pearl: 68 Medium Pearl: 68 Large Pearl: 17 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Basement Hallway***** This is another one of those hallways you will never light up. Combined with the West Hallway and the East Hallway, these three hallways are the last places for combat once you've cleared all the rooms. To make a note, the door on the north spits out some Sparks, so avoid them each time you're here. And speaking of combat and clearing rooms, you're now past all the optional bosses and rooms. Every room past this point is required to clear, so let's finish the game fast. As an added note, you're on your last three rooms before the final boss room. I'm just letting you know that the game is almost over. Head through the door on the northwest corner of the hallway to the Pipe Room. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1516 Dollars: 1240 Gold Bars: 59 Small Pearl: 68 Medium Pearl: 68 Large Pearl: 17 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Pipe Room**** Key Item: COLD STORAGE KEY Money Locations: Trash Can Enemies: White Grabbing Ghost, Grabbing Ghost x2 Boo: Booffant, 300 HP This is the last boring room in the mansion. Every room after this room contains a Gallery Ghost or the last boss. This is the last room for simple ghost combat. Anyways, you'll be faced against three Grabbing Ghosts. One is a White Grabbing Ghost. Personally, I just grab a fire elemental and burn them all down. Then I grab the Boo and finally, the ice elemental. Also, there's a Gold Bar in the trash can. Now ice down the sewer sludge that inconveniently blocks your way, and turn the valve on the other side of the ice patch. When the water is shut off, at treasure chest is revealed behind the fence. So go
over there and grab the COLD STORAGE KEY. I would save before going any farther. The next Gallery Ghost is probably the hardest in the game to take down from 100 to 0. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1516 Dollars: 1240 Gold Bars: 60 Small Pearl: 68 Medium Pearl: 68 Large Pearl: 17 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****Cold Storage***** Key Item: ARTIST'S STUDIO KEY Enemies: Sir Weston Boo: Boolderdash, 150 HP Now let me say that, in my opinion, Sir Weston is easily the hardest Gallery Ghost in the game to take down from 100 to 0 in one shot, especially if you aren't using the Hidden Mansion. However, on this playthrough I was able to stumble across a glitch in the game that quite frankly, makes him easy to do so. Exploit it if you will, however, this guide is for money grubbers, and since you want that large pearl and you're probably fed up with the difficulty on some bosses (including this one), then you may just take advantage of this very nice exploit. Anyways, once you reach the Cold Storage, start out by grabbing the fire elemental in the oil lamp or whatever that thing is that somehow doesn't melt all this ice in this room. Next, light the bonfires on the opposite sides of that string of canned goods. Sir Weston will appear, and he'll get angry for you heating him up while he's chilling out (ouch, stop with the pain!). After that, he'll shoot a string of ice towards you, making it difficult to avoid when you throw in the factor of all those icicles that are falling from the ceiling. Now you must burn him even more with your fire element and break the ice block around him. After that, you can capture him. Finally, here's that exploit to get him from 100 to 0. Shine your light as usual to stun him, and then get on the left wall as close to the fire as possible and try to stop right there. Then vacuum him from that spot and try to hold left as much as possible while rolling the Control Stick down (quickly) about every second or two. The bug here is to stay on the left wall next to the fire so you will both avoid the icicle and hold Sir Weston in that spot the entire time (or most of the time). When you do the trick correctly, you will easily take down 60-90 HP before he runs out into the open, where you can easily use your usual wiggle-and-hold technique to finish off his remaining HP. Upon taking out Sir Weston, grab all the pearls left over and open the chest for a key to the Artist's Studio. Save the game, then grab the Boo and take out any other Boos left in the basement. The last stop is a room we've passed by so many times on the third floor. It's the northeast door in the East Hallway. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1516 Dollars: 1240 Gold Bars: 60 Small Pearl: 72 Medium Pearl: 72 Large Pearl: 18 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 1 *****The Artist's Studio***** Key Item: SECRET ALTAR KEY Enemies: Vincent Van Gore, Golden Ghost x3, Purple Puncher x3, Blue Twirler x3, Grabbing Ghost x3, Shy Guy x3, Garbage Can Ghost x3, Purple Bomber x3 Boo: Bootique, 300 HP Here we go. This is our last Gallery Ghost, our last Boo, and basically the last room period before we fight the last boss. Vincent Van Gore will start out by attacking you with every ghost in the book, basically, and he'll attack you with them three at a time. I HIGHLY recommend getting a fire element for this fight. It makes all the ghosts as easy as pie. Just don't hold the L button down when you burn them. Do it in short bursts, and they'll burn for five points each time. This will save "fuel" as you take the ghosts out and run around the room laughing at them burn. You know the drill otherwise, right? I shouldn't tell you how to bust ghosts at this point in time, so survive long enough without losing any coins and you'll face off with Vincent Van Gore. In the past two times I've fought him he was a complete and total pushover. He was much easier to beat than the ghosts he summoned. So much for being the last Gallery Ghost and mini-boss of the game... Anyways, simply grab the pearls and a key will pop out of his treasure chest painting he was working on just before you interrupted. It's a shiny gold key much like the keys you got from fighting chapter bosses. !!WARNING!! Once you get the last Boo here, go back to Toad and save the game. In fact, I recommend that you do NOT save with E. Gadd once you defeat the last Boo. This is because when you defeat all 50 Boos the last one will drop a Golden Diamond. You cannot collect it until after E. Gadd asks you to save the game after catching it, but before collecting the diamond. You can potentially lose the diamond if you don't save immediately after collecting it. !!WARNING!! Our final stop, if you haven't been paying attention to the map, is in the basement. Go north from the Basement Hallway into the Dark Corridor. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1516 Dollars: 1240 Gold Bars: 60 Small Pearl: 76 Medium Pearl: 76 Large Pearl: 19 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 2 *****Dark Corridor***** Ok this is the last chance to catch Boos. You should have at least 40 Boos by now, unless you totally went brain-dead during Chapter 4. You should have had at least 35 upon beating Boolossus in Chapter 3, and you could have had 39 by then also. So you should have gotten at least the five required before going here, right? Anyways, this is the last hallway ever. You'll be thrown to the Foyer if you don't have at least 40 Boos. The last room is just down the hall. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1516 Dollars: 1240 Gold Bars: 60 Small Pearl: 76 Medium Pearl: 76 Large Pearl: 19 Sapphire: 9 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 1 Golden Diamond: 2 *****Secret Altar***** Money Locations: KING BOO'S CROWN, Torch x2, Chandelier Enemies: King Boo This is the absolute last room for money grubbing. Your last Sapphire is in the chandelier, and some coins and a Gold Bar are in the torches on the right. I would save before searching the south torch as once again the money in it might fall off the screen and leave you with less than what is inside the torch. Other than that, there's a mirror behind the torches to warp back to the Foyer. When all the money in the world is yours, approach King Boo for dialogue and a warp to the roof where you both face off for one last battle. It's... Bowser? ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: King Boo in a Bowser Suit ** ***************************************************************************** * Just like the name implies, you are not really fighting Bowser. You are * * fighting King Boo in a Bowser Suit. I must say that this is the coolest * * looking version of Bowser I've ever seen, and I have to admit I love this * * version better than the Super Mario Sunshine version of Bowser. The * * character model is so clean and smooth looking that he just looks so * * awesome. * * * * Anyways, do this battle without taking a hit. To get the Gold Frame, you * * almost have to. Bowser usually starts out with a fire breath attack. * * Simply walk away from it but don't walk away too far. If you walk away * * too far he'll jump in the sky and attempt to land on you. The attack * * he'll use that you can use to damage him is his mine attack. Basically * * he'll throw three land mines at you and then rush at you to try to suck * * you in and chomp you in his mouth. If he does that, restart the battle, * * as it WILL ruin your chance to get a Gold Frame. * * * * After he throws the mines at you, QUICKLY use the Poltergust 3000 and * * grab the mine, then BACK AWAY. When he bends down to suck you in, launch * * the mine at his face. This will knock the head off of King Boo's Bowser * * Suit and give you a chance to knock his health down. He has 500 HP, but * * it goes down VERY fast. Also, run around King Boo in a circle as the * * Bowser Suit's head will shoot ice blocks at you. Keep doing this until * * he's below 200 HP. * * * * When he gets below 200 HP, he gains a new attack. When you've taken King * * Boo's life down, as usual, his head will come on backwards. He'll then * * run around the roof in a pinball fashion. I totally avoid this by * * standing north or south of him on the wall while he puts his head on. * * Then, when he starts running I run away. He'll go up and down on the * * roof but nowhere else. It's pretty easy to avoid this attack. * * * * Another side note is to never suck up a mine when Bowser is less than * * half the distance of the roof away. If he's on the other side of the * * center "hut" you are fine. If not, he gets a more opportune strike on * * you when he rushes at you. You won't have enough room to launch the * * mine, and he'll either hit the mine with fire or chomp on you. So avoid * * this and run to the other side for his next mine attack when he closes in * * on you. * ***************************************************************************** Finally, you've beaten King Boo. Your reward for winning is obviously the end of the game and also another Red Quartz (his crown). Yes, it's the same one we got before that is worth one whole coin. Whoopdy-doo. Anyways, enjoy the ending with the maximum amount of money, you've earned it. ***Money Total*** Coins: 1536 Dollars: 1260 Gold Bars: 61 Small Pearl: 76 Medium Pearl: 76 Large Pearl: 19 Sapphire: 10 Emerald: 10 Ruby: 10 Diamond: 5 Red Quartz: 2 Golden Diamond: 2 ***Game Total*** 142,390,000G ***************************************************************************** **********************************3) Bosses********************************** ***************************************************************************** ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: Chauncey ** ***************************************************************************** * The fight with Chauncey is a fairly straight-forward fight. * ***************************************************************************** ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: Bogmire ** ***************************************************************************** * Again, like Chauncey, Bogmire is fairly straight-forward. * ***************************************************************************** ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: Boolossus ** ***************************************************************************** * Boolossus can easily rival the final boss in terms of difficulty of * * getting the gold frame. * ***************************************************************************** ***************************************************************************** ** Boss Battle: King Boo in a Bowser Suit ** ***************************************************************************** * Just like the name implies, you are not really fighting Bowser. With the exception of Boolossus, every Gallery Ghost has 100 HP. Each normal Gallery Ghost that isn't a boss will also drop pearls for every 10 points of health you take away in a single pull and you will be rated on how much life you can take away in a single pull. If you can get 50 points of health taken away in a single pull, the pearls will convert from small pearls to medium pearls, and you will get a silver frame. If you can take away 90 HP away in a single pull you will get a large pearl and a gold frame. As for the boss Gallery Ghosts, you don't get pearls but you can get a gold frame by beating the boss and take less than 10 HP of damage. You will get a silver frame if you take less than 50 HP of damage but more than 10, and a bronze if you do worse than that. Getting gold frames is for collectors and for those who want a perfect save file. Also, getting the large pearls is fairly vital to getting enough money to gain an A rank mansion when you beat the game. This section will tell you how to beat each gallery ghost that isn't a boss. That's what the boss section is for in the previous section. Name: Neville Found in: Study Difficulty: Easy How to get him to show his heart: Turn away from him until he yawns, and then he is vulnerable. Additional information: Neville is probably one of the easiest Gallery Ghosts to beat. He hardly has enough strength to break the connection, and is good practice for later Gallery Ghosts. You should have no trouble on this one unless you are a fairly new gamer and aren't as coordinated as most. Try to get him in a corner and vacuum away. Name: Lydia Found in: Master Bedroom Difficulty: Medium How to get her to show her heart: Pull the curtain to the side and she'll go over to close it. When she starts moving that's your chance. Additional information: Lydia is just a step up in difficulty after Neville. She will break your connection if you don't do so hot. Try to get her in the bottom right corner and vacuum away. Name: The Dancing Whirlwinds Found in: Ballroom Difficulty: Easy How to get them to show their hearts: Kill all of the Shy Guys in the room to make them appear. Then, stand on the rotating platforms until they pirouette and then they become vulnerable. Additional information: These two count as a single ghost and you don't even have to capture them separately like some of the ghosts later on. As far as their difficulty goes, you should have no trouble getting the gold frame. Name: Shivers Found in: Butler's Room Difficulty: Easy How to get him to show his heart: Light his candelabra in the hallways and run to the Butler's Room. When he makes it there, he'll sit down on his candelabra and become vulnerable. Additional information: Any difficulty from this fight comes from the mice in the room that wander around. Hitting a mouse will cause damage and ruin your chances at getting a gold frame. Therefore, once you light his candelabra run to the room and take out all the mice before he gets there and you will have a mu8ch easier time at taking him down. Name: Melody Pianissima Found in: Conservatory Difficulty: Medium How to get her to show her heart: Use the A button to tap all the instruments and then approach her. Listen to her song and answer her question correctly and you'll do battle with her music sheets. Vacuum them up and then she becomes vulnerable. Additional information: She's a little tougher than most because she can break the connection a bit easier and there's a fair amount of setting up before you can being to take her down. Just try to get her in a corner and vacuum away. Name: Mr. Luggs Found in: Dining Room Difficulty: Hard How to get him to show his heart: Use a fire element and light the candles on the table. Then, vacuum his food away and he'll spit several fireballs at you. Eventually he'll get tired and become vulnerable. Additional information: He's much harder than any Gallery Ghost you've fought so far. Make sure to use the wiggle-and-hold technique because it's almost required here. Name: Spooky Found in: Boneyard Difficulty: Hard How to get him to show his heart: Let him chase you for a while and a Mr. Bones will appear after a while. Beat him and a bone will appear, drawing Spooky to it. At that point he's vulnerable. Additional information: As with Mr. Luggs, use the wiggle-and-hold technique or you'll have more trouble than it's worth. Name: Biff Atlas Found in: Rec Room Difficulty: Hard How to get him to show his heart: Hit him with the punching bags with the A button three times and he falls to the mat. He's vulnerable then. Additional information: Much like the last two, he'll be hard to get the gold frame on. However you should know how to take him out because it's been said far too many times in this guide on how beat Gallery Ghosts easily. Also, watch out for the punching bag on the return after you hit them as they can hit you back. Name: Nana Found in: Nana's Room Difficulty: Medium How to get her to show her heart: Use the A button to knock the balls of yarn off the table. Then, use the Poltergust 3000 to suck up the yarn balls and shoot them at her. Hit her with all three and she becomes vulnerable. Additional information: She's not as hard to get the gold frame as some, though she can and will break the connection if you're not careful. Also, avoid the lasers she shoots from her eyes when you are attempting to shoot her with the yarn balls. They hurt. Name: Miss Petunia Found in: 2F Bathroom Difficulty: Medium How to get her to show her heart: Pull back the curtain and avoid her water ball. Then, shoot her with some ice to chill her down and make her vulnerable. Additional information: She's about as tough as Nana is though there is less setting up before you can take her down. Also, avoid her water ball at the start and when you finish her off make sure to check the tub for any loose pearls that might have fallen in. To get them, start vacuuming the tub until you hear them rattle around then aim up, pulling them out of the tub. Name: Slim Bankshot Found in: Billiard's Room Difficulty: Hard How to get him to show his heart: After he circles the table and hits the balls in the air, vacuum them up and shoot them at him. After three hits, he becomes vulnerable. Additional information: He's hard to get a gold frame on, though he's just slightly easier than some of the previous optional Gallery Ghosts. The room is very cluttered though so try to avoid objects when taking him down. Name: Henry and Orville Found in: Twin's Room Difficulty: Medium How to get them to show their hearts: Start out by spinning the airplanes on the ceiling to make them show themselves. Then, agree to play hide-and-seek. Leave the room and reenter and open the two boxes that shake when vacuumed. After that, suck up their toys that they ride on and take them both out, one at a time. Additional information: For the amount of setup that you have to do to take make them vulnerable, they are graciously easier than most Gallery Ghosts to beat. These two take more time than anything to get the gold frame on. Otherwise, make sure to take out the twin on the tractor first, and avoid the bombs that the other twin throws while you take out the one on the tractor. Name: Madame Clairvoya Found in: Fortune Teller's Room Difficulty: Easy How to get her to show her heart: Collect all five of Mario's items found throughout the mansion and have your fortune read from each one of them. After the fifth reading, she becomes vulnerable. Additional information: She's exceptionally easy for the amount of time you have to spend searching through the mansion collecting items just to make her vulnerable. She's down on the level of being as easy as Neville. Just make sure to avoid the poison mushroom in that cramped room. Name: Uncle Grimmly Found in: Wardrobe Room (In the blackout event) Difficulty: Easy How to get him to show his heart: Simply face away from him and he'll try to scare you (very pitifully I might add). He's vulnerable at this point. Additional information: Being a part of the blackout event, the only difficulty you will have is getting to him safely and without much hassle. He's super easy to get a gold frame on, so you can get it and barely lift a finger. Name: Clockwork Soldiers Found in: Clockwork Room Difficulty: Hard How to get them to show their heart: Tap the three clocks in the three corners of the room and they become active. After that, you have to be vacuuming them when they shoot their guns at you and you can take them out one at a time. Additional information: Since there are three of them, you have to take out 300 HP of damage before you can clear the room. Also, this means that you have them attacking you while you try to take each one down one-at-a-time. Fortunately, the blue one will move slowly and if you hurry in the beginning, you can take one of the fast ones down before the other two come over to your corner in the room, by which time you might have finished the first one off already. After that, run to the other side of the room and take out the other fast one while the blue one catches up. You have to be fast on these guys, however, to net the gold frame easily. Name: Sue Pea Found in: Guest Room Difficulty: Easy How to get her to show her heart: Spray her with water three times and she becomes vulnerable. Additional information: After spraying her with water three times, don't rush to take her out and instead, vacuum up her dolls first. Then spray her with water one more time and finish her off. She was very easy to beat the last several times I've fought her. Name: Jarvis Found in: Ceramics Studio Difficulty: Easy How to get him to show his heart: Mess with his jars a bit and he'll challenge you to a game. Freeze him seven times and he becomes vulnerable. Additional information: He's very easy to beat, just make sure to vacuum up the flying jars before you make an attempt at him. Then, you have no interruptions between you and the gold frame. Name: Sir Weston Found in: Cold Storage Difficulty: VERY Hard How to get him to show his heart: Grab a fire element and light the piles of sticks next to him. After that, burn his ice block to make him vulnerable. Additional information: Combined with his frost beam attack, the icicles, and a slippery floor, he's easily the hardest Gallery Ghost to get a gold frame on. He breaks the connection extremely easily and it's hard to avoid taking damage in this room. However, if you start vacuuming him just to the left of the left bonfire along the wall, you can cheat a little and keep him in his ring for most of the battle and take large chunks of his life down before he runs out into the room. This makes getting the gold frame much more bearable than making 100 attempts before finally accomplishing a most difficult feat. Name: Vincent Van Gore Found in: The Artist's Studio Difficulty: Hard How to get him to show him heart: At the start of the battle, he'll basically throw three of every ghost in the book at you. If you survive long enough, he'll become vulnerable when all the ghosts have been defeated. Additional information: Vincent Van Gore is easy all by himself, though you're in for a big fight before you can get to him. Use all your techniques and possibly bring in a fire element to take out his minions beforehand and you should be able to make it to him, and capture him for your last Gallery Ghost. ***************************************************************************** ******************************5) Speedy Spirits****************************** ***************************************************************************** Throughout the game, you will see these extremely fast ghosts that move around the room behind you. To easily catch these ghosts, turn on Sidestep Mode, back into them, and shine your light on them to vacuum them up. These ghosts are great because when you catch them, they drop large quantities of money. You have to be quick to catch them or they'll disappear, and they cannot be respawned later on. Also, they can only be spawned in the darkness.
