Geki Yaba Runner Deluxe on Nintendo 3DS (by QubicGames) Strategy Guide and FAQ -------------------- General Data -------------------- Author: Dale Hoffman (Chickenbolt) Email: dalemichelleh@aol.com Originally Created: January 10, 2017 Version: 1.0 -------------------- Table of Content -------------------- General Data Table of Content Scope Spoiler Alert About the Game Differences in the Sequel Problems Help and Strategies Frequently Asked Questions Final Note from the Author Legal -------------------- Scope -------------------- The primary purpose of this document is to help players meet objectives in the game. The secondary purpose is to share interesting information about the game and the game series. This is not intended to be a complete walkthrough. -------------------- Spoiler Alert -------------------- From the very beginning, this document will tell the game's order of events, what is coming, and everything that happens all the way to the end of the game. If you don't like spoilers, I recommend you stop reading, continue playing the game, and only read the parts of this document that you need in order to reach your personal goals in the game. -------------------- About the Game -------------------- I was overjoyed to see more courses in this series. The manual for Geki Yaba Runner Deluxe says this is a sequel for 2 Fast 4 Gnomz. The game has most of the same style graphics, sound, and play. The most notable difference is that this is much more difficult, which can be expected for a good sequel. The story has not changed. The purpose of the game is a greater challenge, and not necessarily a story continuation. It simply retells the same story throughout the adventure. Note that the difficulty curve is much like the original game. It starts with a few easy courses to learn any new abilities, then the difficulty ramps up from there. However, in this sequel, the difficulty curve escalates much higher and faster. Note that, like the original game, these courses are not necessarily in order of difficulty level. For more fun after finishing the game, I recommend running back through all the courses again. You will find that the skills you have perfected later in the game will make earlier areas that you struggled with much easier to clear. At the time of this writing, this game is available in the Nintendo eShop for $4.99. There are many courses in this high quality game, and it worth much more than the 5 dollars you pay for it. -------------------- Differences in the Sequel -------------------- In this section I will refer to Geki Yaba Runner Deluxe as the Sequel, and the Nintendo 3DS version of 2 Fast 4 Gnomz as the original. However, there was one version of 2 Fast 4 Gnomz on the Nintendo Wii, which also applies to all comparisons below. 1. Controls In the sequel you can use A or Up to glide. In the original, you could only use Up. This is more convenient, making in-game control much easier--especially being able to hold A to glide. Also, when you reach a clock in the sequel, you only need to touch the clock to rewind. In the original, you had to press the opposite direction you are running to rewind. These are good enhancements, but make it difficult to go back and play the original. This game is all about such quick moves, that your brain takes over and does most of it unconsciously. Before you go back and play the original game, you may have to wait a few months for your brain to forget to use the A button to glide. Honestly, I've been playing this game so much, the original is nearly unplayable for me right now because I am unconsciously trying to use A to glide. 2. Challenges In the sequel you must meet challenges to advance to the next course or earn a trophy. In the original you were expected to simply clear the course with focus on sock collection, death count, and speed. There are 2 challenges on each course in this sequel. Meeting the first challenge advances you to the next course. Meeting the 2nd challenge in addition to the 1st will earn you a trophy. 3. Golden Socks The original game had only normal socks to collect. The sequel has the normal socks, plus 1, 2, or 3 golden socks in some courses that are generally more challenging to collect. You will know how many golden socks you have, not only by looking at the lower screen, but also because the gnome carries them on his back. If you crash, the golden socks will continue moving, bouncing around in a comical fashion. Collecting all the golden socks in an area will earn you the trophy--if you also meet the main objective. 4. Time Bomb In the sequel, some courses have the gnome carrying a time bomb, and a ghost gnome used as a pace guide. In these courses you must reach the goal in time (ahead of the ghost), or the bomb will explode. Level 66 is the first time bomb course. The buzzer will sound when you have 2 seconds left. Generally speaking, you should try to keep pace with the ghost gnome, since the bomb will explode as the ghost crosses the goal line. If the bomb explodes, you will have 3 options: return to the last checkpoint, restart from the beginning, or return to the map. If you reach the goal in time, you will see the bomb go into the chest on the lower screen. 5. Use of Abilities In the original game, after you had unlocked a new move you could use it in previous courses to enhance your clear time, death count, and ease of sock collection. In the sequel, the course layout and accompanying special challenges are designed for the specific abilities. In short, you can only use the abilities available to you in any given course. 6. Map Layout There are many more courses in the sequel than were in the original. In the sequel, the map has much more color and detail than in the original. Progress in the sequel is generally upward, where in the original 3DS version, progress was from left to right (the Wii version map was somewhat twisty, and the map had a flipside). Note that in this sequel, you can press left or right on the map to select courses one by one, or press up or down to skip through finished courses quickly. Congratulations to the game developers--this map is absolutely beautiful. 7. Skip Feature In this game you can skip one course. If you want to skip another course, you will have to go back and finish the course you have already skipped. 8. Graphical Themes The sequel has all graphical the elements of the original, and adds the mirror/castle and lava/volcano themes. The volcano areas are a special treat, and look excellent in 3D. 9. Cut Scenes After completing some castles, you will trigger a cut scene. The cut scenes tell the same wacky story of senseless urgency as found in the original. The differences are in the added sound effects and enhanced animations, resulting in a more humorous and entertaining flavor overall. 10. Title Screen I noticed immediately that this game has no title screen. -------------------- Problems -------------------- This is a high quality game, and the developers did excellent work. There were a few points that I did not like. Here they are listed from most annoying to least annoying. 1. Level 52 Glitch At the time of this writing, Level 52 begins mid-course. There are enough socks to advance to the next level, but not enough to earn the trophy. I sent a message to the developer's email address on the last page of the manual. They quickly responded to thank me for bringing it to their attention, and said they will look into it. I hope to see a software update soon, so we can see if anything special happens when all 135 trophies are earned. If this glitch is corrected in a software revision, I intend to update this document in a version 1.1. 2. Lag I noticed that some courses--especially those with more whirlwinds and tornados--tend to have some degree of lag. Some courses exhibit this mildly, and some more severely. What I mean by "lag" is that the action is not smooth. Running is somewhat choppy or jerky. This causes inconsistent play. For instance if you push down to dive, you might move slightly shorter or longer than you intended, since the gnome moves in quick jerks. Although this makes the game slightly lower in quality and fun, it is only a minor complaint--since it does not in any way make the game unplayable. I have tried turning off the 3D feature, but this does not diminish the problem by any degree. 3. Time Resolution Resolution of course time limits is one tenth of a second; however, finishing the course within the exact time limit will sometimes count as a pass, and sometimes count as a fail. This tells me that even though the clock shows tenths of a second, there is still an unseen timer that has a higher resolution. This is such a minor complaint, it is hardly worth mentioning. If you finish in the stated time limit, but are judged a failure, it is fun to go back, play through again, and finishing a tenth of a second faster. -------------------- Help and Strategies -------------------- This section is intended to help you complete the 2 challenges for each course, and not intended as a complete game walkthrough. Some courses are not tricky, and can be cleared with practice and patience. The courses with obvious paths and normal socks are not mentioned in this section. However, this game is full of tricky maneuvers, hidden passages, and difficult item collection. Below you will find the following: 1. Locations of all golden socks, whether hidden or obvious, are included. (The obvious or easy golden socks are included only for the sake of being thorough.) 2. Complete walkthroughs for trickiest courses are included in relatively high detail. 3. In general, solutions for finding hidden paths or socks are described very briefly. If there is a course you have having trouble with that is not mentioned here, or if one of my descriptions is not of help, please send me a message. I will try to respond. I appreciate any and all input, and would even consider updating this help section. Here are my notes: Level 2 The 1st golden sock in the entire game is placed very conspicuously just after the 2nd checkpoint. Jump to collect it. Level 4 After the 1st checkpoint, glide through 4 socks, and fall down to a platform to collect the golden sock. Level 7 Run all the way through the 1st whirlwind to find the golden sock. Level 8 Jump through the last 4 socks (purple, pink, red, and orange), and at the top of your jump, glide to get the golden sock. Level 11 Just before the 3rd whirlwind, there is an arrow pointing down. Ride the 3rd whirlwind up to find the golden sock. Level 12 After the 1st checkpoint, the golden sock is easy to see. Time your fall to collect the golden sock without touching the thorns. Level 15 After the 3rd checkpoint, ride the whirlwind and time your fall correctly to collect the golden sock which is in plain view. Level 16 After the 1st checkpoint, collect 6 socks, then, after the dark blue sock, fall down to the low road to find the golden sock. Level 18 After the 1st checkpoint you will hit a switch, then you will see 2 arrows. One points straight ahead, and the other points down. Glide across straight ahead to find the golden sock. After collecting the golden sock, immediately fall and glide to the platform below so you don’t miss any socks. Level 19 After the 4th checkpoint, glide up through the series of whirlwinds to take the high road and find the golden sock. Level 22 After the 1st checkpoint you will see a green arrow pointing straight ahead, and a red arrow pointing down. Fall down and glide through the golden sock next to the switch that opens the path to the next checkpoint. Level 25 In this castle you often find 2 mirrors to choose from. The next paragraph shows the combination of mirrors I used to get all socks. You can only miss 3, and still get the trophy, so pick up as many as possible using this path of mirrors: Upper, lower, upper, upper, lower, lower. From here you will exit the mirror and fall down automatically through some socks, then run into another mirror. This is the 1st checkpoint. You will exit the mirror outside the castle. Avoid hazards and run into the next mirror which is the 2nd checkpoint. Avoid hazards and run into another mirror which is the 3rd checkpoint. You will exit this mirror inside the castle. Glide through the 3 socks to the upper mirror, which will take you back to the checkpoint where you can fall down to continue collecting socks. Run into the lower mirror. When you exit the mirror you will be able to run outside the castle and reach the goal. If you have missed only 3 socks or less, you will earn the trophy. Level 26 Dive off the last ledge before the goal to collect the golden sock. Level 27 Immediately after the checkpoint, fall down to the low road to find the golden sock. Level 29 If you ride the 2nd whirlwind high enough, you can collect the golden sock above the tree. Level 33 After the checkpoint, count 3 trees. After the 3rd tree, the socks will lead you down to the low road to find many more socks. You must collect all 36 socks to get the trophy. Level 36 In this course, all 3 golden socks are in plain view, but the 1st golden sock could possibly be missed because its position is low. At the beginning of the course there are 3 rows of socks to glide through. After the 2nd row of socks, dive down to the platform to collect the golden socks before gliding through the 3rd row of socks. After the 1st checkpoint, jump on 2 platforms, then jump off the 2nd platform high enough to glide through the 2nd golden sock. Continue on to 2 whirlwinds. Ride these 2 whirlwinds high enough to collect all the socks, then just before the 3rd whirlwind, fall between the thorns to collect the 3rd golden sock. Level 37 After the 2nd checkpoint there are 4 platforms. After the 4th platform with the pink sock on it, dive down to find the golden sock. Jump slightly before smashing the tree to collect it just before reaching the goal. Level 39 After the 1st checkpoint, ride the series of whirlwinds high enough to get the 1st golden sock. After the 3rd and final checkpoint, ride the series of whirlwinds and control your glide to the low road to collect the 2nd golden sock just before the goal. Level 40 The golden sock is plainly visible just before the 1st checkpoint. Smash the tree, collect the golden sock, and jump quickly before touching the thorns. Level 41 Just before the goal, hit the switch to open the low road and access the golden sock. Level 43 After the checkpoint, watch for the arrow pointing up before you reach the double whirlwind. Ride the whirlwind up, fall through the 3 socks, and continue falling to the low road where the golden sock is hidden. Level 44 Just before the 2nd checkpoint, take the low road to collect the golden sock. You are allowed to miss 21 socks and still advance to the next course, so you may be able to afford to miss some. However, here are a few that might be tricky to collect: After the 2nd checkpoint, don't ride the whirlwind too high. Take the low road, or you will miss 10 socks. After the 3rd checkpoint, jump over the switch. If you hit the switch, 3 socks will be blocked by a trap door. Level 45 After the 2nd checkpoint, drop down just before the 2nd whirlwind to collect the golden sock. Press the glide button as you collect the golden sock, or you will not have enough lift to clear the thorns. Level 47 After the 2nd checkpoint, do not ride the 1st whirlwind. Run through and fall down to collect the golden sock. Press the glide button as you run through the sock, or you will not have enough lift to clear the wall. Level 48 At the beginning of the course, jump at the very edge of the 1st cliff as high as possible and glide. When you have gone past the switch, dive down for the golden sock. If you hit the switch, a trap door will block access to the golden sock. Level 49 After the checkpoint, hit the switch, fall down for some normal socks, ride the whirlwind up, and immediately drop through the crumbling platforms to collect the golden sock and more normal socks before reaching the goal. Level 50 After the 1st series of whirlwinds you will have to dive correctly to collect the golden sock. After collecting the golden sock, continue holding the down button to smash the tree just before the 2nd checkpoint. Level 52 See the Problems section above. There appears to be a glitch that starts you mid-level. I can find no way to collect enough socks for a trophy. I would like to update this section if the developers make a software correction. This is the only course that I cannot earn a trophy on. Level 58 After the 1st checkpoint you will need to perfect a series of normal jumps, mini jumps, and dives to collect the golden sock and survive to the next checkpoint. Level 59 Start by smashing a sword and diving down through some socks. Enter the mirror. Exit the mirror gliding. Glide over the bricks, dive through more socks just after the bricks, and enter the mirror. Exit the same mirror gliding, and continue gliding all the way to another mirror. This is the 1st checkpoint. Exit the mirror, jump for some socks and avoid the thorns, smash the sword, jump for more socks, and dive through the tornado. Hit the switch and enter the mirror, which takes you back to the 1st checkpoint. Exit the mirror, and see that the switch you hit dropped the bridge. Dive down to the dungeon floor while collecting any socks you may have missed, jump some spikes to collect socks, smash a sword, jump more spikes, charge through the tornado, and jump into the mirror. Run through a whirlwind and charge through the tornado. Jump the spikes to collect socks, smash the sword, jump the chasm, charge through the tornado, throw the switch, and enter the mirror which takes you again back to the 1st checkpoint. Jump the open bridge, jump the spikes, and dive down the next open bridge to collect some socks, and reach the 2nd checkpoint which is not a mirror. Make 3 consecutive jumps charge through a tornado and smash 2 swords, then quickly ride the whirlwind up, and charge through another tornado. Jump the spikes for more socks, smash a sword, and enter the mirror. You will exit the mirror down one level. Jump the spikes to collect socks, smash the sword, hit the switch, and enter the mirror, which is inside a tornado, and takes you again back to the 1st checkpoint. This time you will jump both bridges, and you will see that there is a bridge allowing access through the tornado. Charge through the tornado. Jump more spikes, smash a sword, and jump more spikes (all the while collecting socks), then jump into the mirror. You will exit the mirror at the goal. Level 60 Ride the whirlwind up to the top mirror. When you exit the mirror, jump 2 mirrors while collecting socks. Smash the sword and run into the 3rd mirror. You will exit the mirror up one floor where you find the golden sock. Dive down and enter the 4th mirror which is the 1st checkpoint. Here you will see many socks that cannot be collected on one visit. Collect as many as possible, and maybe ride the whirlwind to get the socks across the ceiling on this visit. Run into the mirror. The 1st exit of this mirror brings you into a long room with a whirlwind. Dive down through the whirlwind, smash the sword, and enter the mirror. You will exit the mirror in the same room on the lower level. Jump the spikes and ride the whirlwind up collecting all the socks. Enter the mirror which takes you back to the 1st checkpoint. Collect as many of the remaining socks as possible, and enter this mirror again. The 2nd exit of this mirror brings you to a tall room with a whirlwind. Ride the whirlwind up to the 2nd mirror. Exit the mirror at the top of the room, collect the socks, flip the switch, and dive to the floor. That switch opened the way to the lowest mirror. Enter that lowest mirror and exit near the middle of the room, jump for an arc of socks, and enter the opposite mirror which takes you again back to the 1st checkpoint. Here is your 3rd chance to pick up any socks you missed. Enter that wacky mirror for the third time. The 3rd exit of this mirror brings you to a room with 2 swords. Smash the 2 swords and enter the mirror. Exit the mirror and immediately dive down through some socks and into another mirror. This takes you again back to the 1st checkpoint. Here is your 4th chance to collect any socks and enter the mirror yet again for the 4th time. Glide as you exit the mirror, as the 4th exit of that mirror takes you to the mirror on the ceiling near the start of the course. Glide through some socks. There is no time limit, so here you have an option: Optional: If you missed any socks in the room at checkpoint 1 (and still want them), you can glide back into the upper mirror and cycle back through the course until you get them all. Note that you can miss 5 socks and still advance to the next course. If you have cleared the room of socks after checkpoint 1 (or if you think you have enough socks), enter the lower mirror. Immediately jump and glide through the last 6 socks, and run through the goal. Level 61 This is the 1st course that has a trophy hinging on a time limit--but you cannot dash yet. To get the trophy, you will have to take the correct course with very few mistakes, and you can only miss 7 socks on the way. At the beginning, just run into the mirror, exit on the ceiling, immediately glide through 3 socks, fall down past the mirror you just entered, jump through three blue socks, and into the mirror. This is the 1st checkpoint. Exit the mirror, jump the chasm, glide through the socks over the spikes, drop down through the socks, hit the switch, and run into the mirror. This will bring you to the ceiling, so immediately glide to the brick platform. Jump and glide through more socks over the spikes, smash the sword, jump and glide through socks over more thorns, dive down, charge through the tornado, and enter the mirror. This is the 2nd checkpoint. Exit the mirror, and make 3 jumps to collect socks. After that third jump, you will charge through a switch inside a tornado, then enter a mirror. Exit the mirror, hit a switch, jump through more socks, smash the sword, dive down as far as possible, and enter the mirror that is inside a tornado. Exit the mirror, hit the switch, jump and glide through more socks, and enter the mirror on the ceiling. This is the 3rd checkpoint. Exit the mirror, dive down, jump through three socks over thorns, dive to avoid the overhead wall, jump again, glide through the 3 socks over the thorns, and dive or fall into the mirror. This is the 4th checkpoint. Exit the mirror and immediately ride the whirlwind up to the next mirror. When you exit that mirror, ride the whirlwind up again to the top mirror. Exit the mirror into a room with a special switch. You will have to trip the switch by landing on top of it. Simply jump through the socks, land on the switch to trigger it, and run into the mirror. This will take you back to the 4th checkpoint. When you exit the mirror, ride the whirlwind slightly up, and fall between the mirrors to continue on, jumping 2 chasms to reach the goal. The jump between mirrors might take some practice. If you want the trophy, you will not have time for many attempts. Keep replaying the course until you can perform the jump/glide quickly enough to earn the trophy. Level 65 After the 3rd checkpoint make a precise dive for the 1st golden sock, which is just past a small ledge in plain view. After the 4th checkpoint, the last golden sock is also in plain view and collected in much the same manner is the 1st one. Level 66 After the checkpoint, hit the switch, cross the bridge, then fall down one level and glide so you don't miss too many socks. You will have to take the low road if you want to earn the trophy. Level 67 After the 2nd checkpoint, drop down the 1st whirlwind between the thorns to find a hidden low road and 8 socks (you can still advance to the next course without these socks if you get enough of the others in the course). Ride the large whirlwind back up to the high road, but not too high, or you will hit some thorns. Continue on until you see an arrow pointing down into the snow. Drop down through the snow to find the golden sock and an alternate goal. Level 70 Fall over the very 1st ledge and follow the low road to find the golden sock. Ride the whirlwind to regain the high road. Level 71 After the 1st checkpoint, jump into the switch and collect the 1st golden sock. Drop slightly and glide through another switch and collect the 2nd golden sock before dropping down and gliding through a 3rd switch. It will take practice to time all 3 drops correctly. Level 73 Before the 1st checkpoint you will come to a row of crumbling platforms. Dash across them, and dive at the precise moment to go safely down and collect the golden sock. Level 75 After the 2nd checkpoint, you will have to glide high enough to reach the 3 golden socks on top of 3 trees, while still getting low enough to dash under falling stones between them all. Level 77 At the beginning of the level you will find 3 rows of socks between thorns that you must use the whirlwind to reach. If you want a trophy, you should be able to practice the timing to glide up, then dash through all 3 socks. Keep practicing until you can do this perfectly 3 times in a row, and it will shave some significant time off your run. Level 78 After the 2st checkpoint, perform a well-timed dive to collect the 1st golden sock located below a small ledge. You may have to jump first to get the correct angle. The 2nd golden sock is located in the fog just after dashing under 2 falling stones. It may be difficult to see because of the fog. You will have to meet the golden sock at the high point of your jump to collect it. The 3rd golden sock is found right before the 3rd checkpoint near a patch of thorns. Dive just after the thorns to collect it safely, then run through the 4th checkpoint. Remember, this level has no time constraint, so take it easy, and don't dash unless you have to. If you miss 1 sock, you will still earn the trophy, as long as you have collected all 3 golden socks. Level 80 After the 1st checkpoint, follow the down arrow to the low road for 15 socks. You cannot advance to the next course without them. Level 86 This one of the rare courses where there are no normal socks to be found. The main focus is to stay ahead of the clock, which gives you only 30 seconds to finish. If you want the trophy, collecting the 3 golden socks and reaching the goal fast enough will take practice and skill. Fall over the very 1st ledge, glide through the 1st golden sock, and ride the whirlwind up. Do all this while dashing as much as possible. Try to keep pace with the ghost. Shortly after the whirlwind, you will see the 2nd golden sock. After collecting the 2nd golden sock, dive immediately to avoid a collision with a wall. Shortly before the goal, you will see the 3rd golden sock in plain sight. The jump and glide maneuver must be precise in order to collect it without hitting the thorns. Level 87 This castle is somewhat complex, loaded with 158 socks, and there may be more than one way to clear it. Keep practicing, and try to collect as many socks as possible. You are only allowed to miss 13 of them to advance to the next course. The following walkthrough may not be the best or most efficient way through, but of all the ways I have tried, it was the fastest for me. Most importantly, this is the method I used to access all socks, and to earn the trophy: Start by dashing under a falling spike ball. Continue straight through, jump over the chasm for an arc of socks, then run into the mirror which is right at the gnome's feet. If you dash into that mirror, you might hit the wall. This is the 1st checkpoint. Jump through another arc of socks and into the mirror. Exit the mirror, hit the switch, and dive through a downward line of socks. The switch will close the bridge on the floor so you can jump for 3 more socks leading to a sword. Smash the sword, dive down through more socks and dash into the mirror. This is the 2nd checkpoint. Now dash through a switch, which is in the middle of another arc of socks. That switch will open the way to socks through and over spikes. Follow these socks until you can dash through a switch in front of a mirror. This mirror takes you back to the 2nd checkpoint. Exit the mirror to the same location, but this time dive down through socks. You may have to jump before diving through these socks to get the angle correct. Next dash through a long arc of socks, over a crumbling platform, and through another switch which is right in front of a mirror. This takes you back to the 1st checkpoint. When you exit the mirror, begin dashing immediately to fall perfectly over the spikes and through a switch. Jump and dash through another long arc of socks, and you will see another switch at a ledge. Dive over the ledge after hitting the switch. You will dive down to a floor where you can jump for 3 more socks, dash under a spike ball, mini-jump to smash a sword, and enter a mirror. This is the 3rd checkpoint. You will exit the mirror on the top floor. Dash under a spike ball, smash a sword, and jump down to collect a downward trail of socks--jump normally with no dashing, diving, or gliding. If the angle is correct, you can collect all the socks on the way down. Immediately dash under a spike ball, and jump through 2 long arcs of socks, and through a switch in front of a mirror. This is the 4th checkpoint. Exit the mirror and practice a normal jump over the 1st ledge, then a dash over the 2nd ledge until you can get all the socks over both ledges. After you have dashed over that ledge, jump normally up a half level. You will see that the switch has formed a bridge. Dash through the socks over that bridge, under a spike ball, through more socks over spikes, and into the mirror. This is the 5th checkpoint. Exit the mirror and dive down through more socks. You will have to jump before diving to get all the socks on the way down. Keep jumping for 4 more upward lines of socks, then dash into the mirror. As you exit the mirror, immediately glide through a row of socks into the mirror directly across the chasm. Exit the mirror and make a short dash into the opposite mirror. Glide as you exit that mirror to reach another mirror directly across from the one you exited. Hold the down button as you exit the mirror to dive down and avoid spikes, and dash into a mirror. This is the 6th checkpoint. Exit the mirror, then jump and glide through more socks, leading all the way to the goal. If you collected enough socks you will advance to the next course. If you were fast enough, you have earned the trophy. Level 89 Although my walkthrough often says to dash over long stretches of spikes, you can also jump and glide over many of them. Note that there is no time limit in this castle. You can take it as slow or as fast as you want, but here you can only miss one sock if you are playing for the trophy. Start by dashing under a spike ball, and long-jumping twice to clear spikes and a crumbling platform. Jump and glide up through the whirlwind, and continue gliding to a hidden path along the ceiling where you can run into a hidden mirror. This mirror will bring you back to a point just before the whirlwind. You can fall through more socks, then ride the whirlwind up again. This time, dive down to the lower mirror. This is the 1st checkpoint. You will exit the mirror into a room with 7 socks ahead of you. It may not be possible to collect all 7 socks on the 1st visit to this room. Jump to collect the arc of 5 socks, dash under the spike ball, jump over the spikes, dash under another spike ball, ride up a whirlwind, and jump into the mirror. This is the 2nd checkpoint. Dash under a spike ball, through the switch, over the spikes collecting socks, then glide through more socks before hitting the spikes below. Go through the whirlwind, but do not jump into the hanging mirror. Dash over more spikes and a crumbling platform to collect more socks, then hit the switch and enter the mirror. This is the 3rd checkpoint. Exit the mirror, fall down, dash under a spike ball, jump over some spikes to collect socks, dash under another spike ball, smash the sword, hit the switch, and enter the mirror. This is the 3rd checkpoint... again. You are again at the 3rd checkpoint--but the switch you threw has opened the floor. Now you can drop down to the next floor with 4 mirrors surrounded by spikes. The first 3 mirrors on the ground will take you back to the same 3rd checkpoint. Keep trying to dodge the spikes and mirrors until you can glide over the final spikes and into the 4th mirror which is hanging from the ceiling. This takes you back to the 2nd checkpoint. Exit the mirror at the 2nd checkpoint. Now that you have returned to this room, you can collect the socks you missed on the last visit. The floor is now open, so you can drop down and enter the lower mirror. Keep practicing to get the angle right for sock collection here, as you are only allowed to miss one sock to earn a trophy. This is the 4th checkpoint. Exit the mirror, dash over the crumbling platforms through socks to more crumbling platforms, dive through the last platform, and immediately begin to dash again to stay on top of more crumbling platforms. Jump into the mirror, and when you exit, you will reach the goal. Level 90 Start by riding the whirlwind up. Hit the switch to make a bridge and dive into the clock to rewind. Now you can go straight through over the bridge and hit the main switch. This opens the way forward, but it also makes a secret bridge below. Touch the clock again to rewind. Now you can dive down to the bridge for some socks and the golden sock. Touch the clock to rewind. Now you can continue straight ahead, jump over the clock, and continue the course. Level 91 From the beginning, dive over the 1st ledge into a hazardous area to hit the switch and collect 3 socks. Touch the clock to rewind. Now you can move upward and onward. After the 2nd whirlwind, you will see the golden sock. Dive to collect the sock, then use the whirlwind and get to the same clock again. Rewind and continue upward to finish the course. Level 92 The socks are all in obvious places, but I found this to be the most difficult of all courses to earn the trophy for. I can offer very little help. The only suggestion I have is to keep trying to until you perform the 3 dive/glide maneuvers perfectly. It took me over 1000 deaths to get this trophy. Be patient, and with attempt after attempt, you can eventually get all the socks in the course. Level 96 There is no time limit on this course, so take it slow and easy. Also, don't worry if you miss a few socks. You can miss up to 4 socks and still earn the trophy. From the starting point, count 2 trees. Dive after the 2nd tree down to the low road for some hidden socks. Hit the clock, rewind, and continue on the high road. Soon after the 1st checkpoint is a whirlwind. Dive before reaching the whirlwind to get some socks on the low road and dash into the clock to rewind. Rewind and continue on until you see a switch, 2 rows of socks, and a clock. Hit the switch to open the upper path, collect 1 row of socks, dash into the clock to rewind, and dive down again to collect the other row of socks. Hit the clock to rewind, then continue to the high road. Level 97 Ride the 1st whirlwind up, and stay on the high road to find the 1st golden sock. After the checkpoint, stay low on the 2nd series of whirlwinds to take the low road for the 2nd and last golden sock. Level 99 You can miss up to 9 socks and still get a trophy, so don't worry if you miss a few. There is one tricky set of socks to collect: After the 1st whirlwind is a line of crumbling platforms. Dash across and dive through the last crumbling platform to reach an arc of socks. Level 100 You can miss 6 socks and still get a trophy, but here are the tricky ones: After the 2nd checkpoint, ride the whirlwind up, smash the 2 trees, then fall down between the 2 thorns to the low road to find 7 hidden socks and an alternate goal. Level 101 From the beginning, dive down as far as possible, hit the switch to open the path above you, and touch the clock to rewind. This time dive down and enter the whirlwind above the clock, smash the tree, run through the whirlwind, jump to collect the 1st golden sock, touch the clock, and rewind. Dive down one level and glide through the whirlwind above the lowest clock again. This time ride the small whirlwind up one level to a row of socks, and touch the clock to rewind. Now you have collected all the hidden items, and can continue upward. Smash the trees, and ride the whirlwind up to the 1st checkpoint. Dive down, hit the switch, and touch the clock to rewind. That switch opened the way forward, and opened the way to the false ceiling in the whirlwind. Do not go through the false ceiling, or you will miss a golden sock. Continue forward, smash the tree, jump through the whirlwind, collect the 2nd golden sock, and touch the clock to rewind. Ride the whirlwind up, collect the socks, and cross the 2nd checkpoint. Here you will have to hit a series of switches to open lower and lower paths. Before the 3rd switch, the 3rd golden sock is located beside some thorns. A well-timed dive will allow you to collect it safely, hit the switch, and touch the clock to access the next level down-- which leads to the goal. Level 102 Ride the 2nd whirlwind up and over the spikes, fall just far enough to collect the 1st golden sock near the spikes, then catch yourself with a glide at the last moment to continue safely on. Ride the 3rd whirlwind up, then use the 4th whirlwind to get more height and fall down through the 2nd golden sock near more spikes just before the checkpoint. From the checkpoint, ride up a whirlwind, charge through a tornado, jump on a platform with 3 socks, jump on the next platform which is empty, then glide off it under the 3rd platform through the 3rd golden sock. You will have to dive quickly to charge through the tornado and continue to the goal. Level 106 The time bomb will explode in a very short time, so dash as much as possible. Here are golden sock locations: Long jump over the chasm and carefully dive/glide down between the spikes. Jump for the 1st golden sock just before a falling rock, then quickly dash under it. Long jump to a crumbling platform, and long jump again into the 2nd golden sock just before another falling rock. Dash under it, and continue on across chasms until you reach the checkpoint. Continue on until you reach the whirlwind. Ride it up, run over the crumbling platforms, and dive down through the last crumbling platform in time to collect the 3rd golden sock. Continue on to 2 switches and the goal. Level 107 The 1st golden sock is found just before you reach the 1st clock. You will have to perform a precise dive to collect the golden sock just after clearing the spikes. The 2nd golden sock is found after the 1st checkpoint. Fall down slightly through the whirlwind to collect the golden sock, then ride the whirlwind up to the clock to rewind. After the 2nd checkpoint, follow the down arrow down through the 3 socks and continue going down to hit the switch, then the clock to rewind. Now jump to the high road and hit that switch. Continue on, and glide/fall skillfully through to collect the golden sock in plain view inside the 2nd whirlwind. Hit the switch, then the clock to rewind. Now continue forward through the rest of the course. Level 108 After the 1st checkpoint, drop down the 1st whirlwind between the thorns to find 8 hidden socks. If you do not pick them up, you will not earn the trophy. Near the end of the course there is an arrow pointing to the goal. There are 6 more socks on the low road and an alternate goal. Just after the arrow, dive down through the snow to find 6 socks on a low road, and an alternate goal. If you have picked up enough socks earlier, you won't need these 6 socks to get the trophy. Level 112 Dive off the very 1st ledge so you don't miss the 1st 3 socks, then stay low for 9 more socks, hit the clock, rewind, and ride the whirlwind back up. After the 2nd checkpoint, glide down low for some underground socks. You can only miss one sock if you want the trophy. Level 113 Here is another area with no normal socks. The 1st golden sock is found just after the 1st checkpoint. If you dash over the thorns correctly, you can pick it up and smash the tree in one quick maneuver. After the 2nd checkpoint you will hit 2 switches to open the path ahead, then 2 more switches, then the 2nd golden sock is in plain sight between the 3rd set of 2 switches. After the 4th checkpoint, watch for a switch on the ceiling. Jump a little farther while hitting the switch so you can catch the 3rd golden sock on the way back down. Level 116 This course has a tricky series of switches, so here is a brief walkthrough in case anyone is struggling to meet the challenge criteria. Dash as much as possible, or the time bomb will explode before you can reach the goal: Hit the switch immediately in front of you, then jump up to the top clock to rewind. Now dive down to hit the lower switch and touch the clock to rewind again. The way forward is now open. Continue over a bridge, dash over and dive through many spikes. Hit the switch down there to open the bridge you just crossed, then touch the clock to rewind (since the path to the checkpoint is blocked). Now that the bridge is out, dive down far enough to glide, collect the 1st golden sock, and touch the clock to rewind. This time don't go down as far, so you can hit the switch that opens the path to the checkpoint, then touch the clock to rewind. Now you can go back over and down through the spikes, dash under the clock, and cross the checkpoint. Dive down, dash through the switch, and keep dashing all the way to the clock to rewind. Now jump for the switch in front of you, and with dashing/diving, collect the 2nd golden sock, then touch the clock again to rewind. Finally, jump upward, and hit the 3rd switch. Those 3 switches have opened all 3 barriers, so you can now run under the clock and continue on to find 4 more switches. Hit as many switches as possible, then run into the clock to rewind. Now hit the switches you did not hit on the first time through. With practice, you should need no more than 2 passes to hit all 4 switches. Dash under the clock when all 4 barriers are down, and you will see the goal ahead of you. If you want a trophy, do not jump for the goal yet. Instead, dive down into the pit to collect the 3rd golden sock, and hit the clock to rewind before hitting the spikes. Now long jump over the pit and to the goal. Level 117 Here is another tricky castle with many ways to miss socks. You can only miss 2 socks to advance to the next course. Also, if you want the trophy, you have to speedrun the castle quickly and efficiently. This is the fastest method I could find that reaches all socks: Ride the whirlwind up and dash/glide over the spikes while collecting socks. Make 2 long jumps over spikes then fall down through the whirlwind, hit the switch, and glide/fall over more spikes. Stay low to collect the socks on the low road. Perform 3 mini jumps to avoid overhead spikes, one normal jump to avoid more spikes, then dash into the mirror. This is the 1st checkpoint. You will exit on the high road which has more socks scattered around. Jump over and down the wall, and stay high, since the lower path is not open yet. Hit the switch. This will not only open the low road, but will also close the high road behind you. Charge through a tornado, dash under a spike ball, charge through another tornado, then ride the whirlwind up to land on the bricks. The way to the goal is blocked, so dive down to hit the switch to make a bridge to the goal. Enter the mirror. This is the 2nd checkpoint. You will exit the mirror at a point just below the start of the course. From here you should ride the whirlwind up, then fall down the pit full of spikes. Practice gliding/falling until you can collect all 3 socks in the pit and safely reach the mirror, which takes you back to the 2nd checkpoint. Now you can ride the whirlwind up and glide/dash/fall through more socks until you reach the floor. Here you must perform 5 jumps over spikes, catching one sock at the end of each jump. The low road is closed, so ride the whirlwind up to the high road. Here you will collect more socks while avoiding spikes and walls. Ride the whirlwind up and enter the mirror near the ceiling. This is the 3rd checkpoint. The mirror deposits you a short way back so you can collect 3 socks on a very dangerous high road. Avoid all the spikes, and dive down and under the mirror you just entered. Jump over the wall again. Now that the low road is open, you can collect the last socks while avoiding tornados and spikes. Ride the whirlwind up to the top of the bricks. Now that the bridge is in place, you can dash through the goal. Level 118 Dash until you have to make 3 mini jumps while collecting socks. Hit the switch and touch the clock to rewind. After performing the 3 mini jumps again, dive down to the 1st checkpoint. From here you will make 3 dangerous jumps through spikes and socks, then ride the whirlwind up slightly to hit the switch on the ceiling to open the upper path, then dive into the clock to rewind. Repeat the 3 dangerous jumps through spikes. Now that the ceiling is open, ride the whirlwind up to the 2nd checkpoint. Charge through the tornado, and long jump under a spike ball and collect the sock. The best way to make this jump is, while dashing, tap the jump button at the very end of the ledge. This should keep you low enough to pass under the spike ball. Now dive and charge through the tornado, and dive down to the low road. Hit the switch to open the high road, and touch the clock to rewind. Again, charge through the tornado, long jump under the spike ball, and charge through the tornado. Now that the bridge is activated, dash through the 3rd checkpoint. This area is very tricky, but I found the following method to be the fastest and most efficient for earning a trophy: Ride the whirlwind up, collect the blue sock, and enter the mirror. The mirror will bring you to a point near the ceiling. Notice that the mirror ahead of you is blocked. Fall down and enter the lower mirror, which will bring you back to a high point just behind the whirlwind. Fall through the socks. At the moment you have collected the last sock (orange), glide up through the switch to activate it, then dash through three socks into the mirror. It takes you back to the upper mirror behind the whirlwind. Ride the whirlwind, glide and collect the 3 socks above the switch that you have already tripped, and dash back into the mirror. You are taken back to the top again. This time jump and glide through the whirlwind, collect the 2 socks, and enter the mirror straight across near the ceiling. This will take you to the other side of the room near the ceiling, but the switch you hit has opened the way to the upper mirror on the far side of the room. Immediately jump and glide into the mirror while collecting the 2 socks. You will exit the mirror at a point where there are 3 socks on an upper path, and 3 socks on the lower path. Collect the lower 3 socks, jump and charge through the tornado, then jump and dash into the mirror. This takes you back so you can collect higher 3 socks, then jump and ride the whirlwind up, charge through 3 socks and a tornado, then jump into a mirror. This will take you higher yet where you can jump and charge through 3 more socks and a tornado, then jump to the 4th checkpoint. Charge through the tornado, ride the whirlwind up over the wall and spikes, then dive down to collect the yellow sock, and dash into the mirror. This will take you one floor higher than the 3rd checkpoint. Charge through the tornado, and ride the whirlwind up high to collect 2 socks. Hit the switch to open the way forward, and enter the mirror. You exit at the same mirror again. Charge through the tornado, and notice that the way forward is open. Glide straight across, and ride the whirlwind up. You will see a pink sock on the other side of a trap door. You cannot access this area yet, so you will have to go down. Read on: In this area, there are are 4 mirrors accessible, one on each of the 4 floors beneath you. Each mirror has 2 socks in front of it. Fall/glide/dive down to the next floor down, collect the 2 socks, and dash into the mirror. You will exit the mirror above the same room. From here you should skip the 2nd floor down, and reach the 3rd floor down to get those 2 socks, and enter the mirror. Both mirrors will
take you back to the top again. However, when you have at least 43
socks, you can skip either of these last 2 mirrors and just dive to the
bottom floor. Enter the lowest mirror after collecting the 2 socks.
This will take you to the 2nd floor down. Hit the switch, then jump
across for 2 socks, and dash into the mirror. This takes you back to
the top of the room. Fall down, dash across to the pink sock, and on
to the goal. If you collected at least 48 socks, and you ran the
course fast enough, you will earn the trophy.

Level 119
You can only miss one sock here. If you follow this walkthrough, you
will have access to all the socks on your way through. There may be
other ways, but this is the fastest way through the castle that I can
find when trying to earn the trophy:

Dash as far as possible, then jump and dash/glide/fall down between
spikes, picking up the socks as you go. Dash into the mirror. You
will exit the mirror higher in the castle. Jump the chasm and spikes,
glide/dash through socks, pick up the orange sock, and dash into the
mirror. This is the 1st checkpoint.

Dive down the 1st ledge through a sock, then glide through the row of
socks under the spikes. Continue gliding all the way to the mirror on
that level and dash into it. This will return you to the 1st
checkpoint.

Now glide over the chasm and spikes, dive through 3 socks, and dash
into the mirror. This is the 2nd checkpoint.

Smash the sword, dash under the spike ball, and long jump through a
light blue sock, then under a spike ball. When you reach the dark blue
sock in the whirlwind, glide up, dive down to the platform to get the
purple sock, smash the sword, charge through the tornado, perform a
mini jump onto the bridge, dash to grab another sock, continue dashing
under a spike ball, charge through the tornado, and dash under another
spike ball and into the mirror. This is the 3rd checkpoint.

Carefully jump as necessary to work through spikes while picking up
socks, jump and ride the whirlwind to clear more spikes and pick up
more socks, charge through the tornado, then glide over the ledge, over
the bridge, collect the red sock and hit the switch to drop the bridge.
Dash under a spike ball, charge through a tornado, and dash under
another spike ball and into the mirror. This returns you to the 3rd
checkpoint.

Jump through the dangerous spike area again, ride the whirlwind up,
glide/dash as necessary, then charge down through the tornado, and
through the floor that you just opened. Collect the sock, jump the
spikes, charge through the tornado, smash the sword and dash into the
mirror. This is the 5th checkpoint.

Long jump a chasm, smash a sword, dash through the whirlwind, and long
jump another chasm all the while picking up the socks. Dash into the
mirror. Exit the mirror and continue straight ahead, long jumping over
the chasm, gliding over spikes, through a sock, through a whirlwind (do
not glide upward), and continue on until you can dive through the 2
socks and dash into the mirror. Long jump across the chasm again,
continuing straight ahead, gliding through one sock over spikes, then
ride the whirlwind slightly upward for 3 socks, glide/fall back down to
dash through 3 socks and into the mirror. You will exit the mirror
near the ceiling. Immediately glide through a sock, and continue
gliding. Use the whirlwind to get more lift, so you can glide through
2 more socks and into the mirror on the ceiling. Again,
dash/jump/glide straight ahead for the sock. Then continue gliding but
be careful not to ride the whirlwind too high into the spikes. Control
your glide/fall to get the 2 socks on the way down, then dive for 2
more socks on the ground. Jump for 3 more socks, then long jump over
the spikes, and through the goal.

Level 120
The golden sock is positioned near the top of a column just before the
goal. Meet the column high enough to collect the golden sock before
smashing the column and reaching the goal.

Level 122
When you have lowered the lava and rewound with the clock, dive down
the 1st chasm to find the golden sock near the top of a column. If you
dive down the 2nd column, you will bypass the golden sock.

Level 123
The 2nd lava pit has a down arrow over it. Glide into the down arrow
and immediately dive. You will have to make an immediate series of
jumps to get the golden sock, and glide into the clock which is inside
a whirlwind. Rewind and continue on.

Level 124
After the 1st checkpoint, you will need to use the clock to rewind and
collect the socks you missed on the first time through. When you have
collected all the socks, jump over the clock to continue the course.
You can rewind as many times as necessary to get all the socks, since
there is no time limit here. At the end of the course, it is very
tricky to stay just below the spikes and above the lava. Keep
practicing until you have accomplished this very precise falling and
gliding. You will have to collect all the socks on the course to get
the trophy.

Level 125
There are 6 barrages of falling hot coals to clear. The first 4 you
can simply glide safely through. The 5th should be dashed through, and
you can glide again through the 6th. If the 6th hits you, try to dash
just a little longer on the 5th one than you did the last attempt to
adjust the timing for the 6th. From here you should be able to dash
all the way to the checkpoint if you time your jumps correctly.

From the checkpoint, dash over the 2 sets of crumbling platforms.
These are best cleared by jumping normally, then dashing on the last
part of each jump. The golden sock is located in the 2nd whirlwind.
You will have to fall low enough to collect it, but not so low that you
can't clear the next wall of hot coals. Next, dash under the falling
coals, smash the column, dash under more falling coals, and pass
through the goal. You can miss 6 socks and still advance to the next
course.

Level 127
Start by dashing and jump at the light blue stock. Hold for the
longest jump possible, and you will go through the switch and into the
mirror. Press and hold A or up to glide just before exiting the mirror
(simply holding the glide button when exiting the mirror will not give
you enough height). When you touch they very edge of the down arrow,
immediately dive and dash back into the mirror. Now that the lava has
lowered, dash down one level. Avoiding thorns and spike balls on this
floor, get the blue sock, the pink sock, hit the down arrow, and dash
into the mirror--which is the 1st checkpoint.

Exit the mirror and dash down one more floor. Avoiding hazards, pick
up the purple sock, hit the down arrow, pick up the yellow sock, hit
the switch to open the door, and dash into the mirror, which is the 2nd
checkpoint.

Exit the mirror and dash as far as possible before gliding into the
down arrow. When the lava is low enough, dive into the 3 socks and
dash through to collect all 3, and dash into the mirror. This is the
3rd checkpoint.

Exit the mirror and dash as much as possible clearing the hazards while
gliding to the floor below. Jump into the mirror with the dark blue
sock in front of it. This is the 4th checkpoint.

Exit the mirror and see that the way up is open. Take the green sock,
ride the whirlwind up one floor, avoid all hazards, and drop down.
Start dashing before you hit the first in a long row of socks. Dive
down just before taking the last sock, and you should be able to get
them all without hitting the wall. Practice timing on this. By now
you should have more than 18 socks, so you can leave a few if
necessary. There are easier socks to pick up later. Do not dash into
the mirror on the ceiling. Instead, avoid the hazards and dash into
the 2nd mirror. This is the 5th checkpoint.

Now you are outside the castle, and you will have to learn how to
perform a very, very precise series of falls. Do not dash while the
lava is going down, or you will be too close to the lava when you reach
the 2nd or 3rd fall. Instead, when you exit the mirror, dash forward
and glide through the down arrow. Continue to glide, and fall as
necessary using the hot coals on the ceiling as your guide. You will
want to stay just below the ceiling at all times in order to avoid the
lava, which is dropping almost too slowly. If you have at least 18
socks, don’t worry too much about collecting the socks on the way down.
This is one of the most difficult parts of the entire game. Keep
practicing, and you will reach another mirror, the 6th checkpoint.

As you exit the mirror, hold the glide button. Keep gliding almost to
the wall, and drop. Catch yourself with the glide button again to just
clear the ceiling of hot coals, and use the glide button as necessary
to control your fall all the way to another mirror, the 7th and last
checkpoint.

Hold the dash button as you exit the mirror. You will need to do a
series 3 identical dash and dive maneuvers before reaching the goal.

If you have dashed enough throughout this course, you will have
completed the course in less than 60 seconds and earned the trophy—
assuming you have collected at least 18 socks.

Level 128
After the set of 2 whirlwinds, the 2 golden socks are located at high
points just ahead of walls. You will need to practice the
glide/dive/glide timing to collect both of them, hit the down arrows,
and safely reach the checkpoint.

Level 129
After the 3rd checkpoint, the golden sock is located just before the
whirlwind. When you dive down through the 3 socks, dive far enough
down to glide through the golden sock, and ride the whirlwind up
slightly to continue gliding over the spikes.

Level 130
After the checkpoint you will work through some controlled gliding and
falling. There is a lone red sock at the start, then set of 3 socks--
dark blue, light blue, dark blue. After a gradual fall, there is
another set of 3 more socks--pink, red, orange. Just after that orange
sock, get ready to fall slightly to collect the golden sock.

Level 131
At the beginning of the course, hold the dash button and tap the jump
button immediately after you start. Just keep dashing and jump in
front of each sign, and at the very end of the crumbling blocks. Each
of these 6 jumps should be just a short jump (only tap the jump button
each time), and you should avoid all falling coals. Stop dashing just
long enough to smash the column of hot coals, dash under the falling
coals, smash another column, and stop dashing before you reach the 1st
checkpoint sign.

From the 1st checkpoint, run normally and dive over the ledge between
the coals flying from the left. In this area do not dash until you
reach the crumbling platform, or you will upset the timing to work
around the flying coals. If you jump/glide/fall using the socks and
obstacles as your guide, you will miss all the flying coals. Some
glides and jumps may require practiced timing. Keep trying, using the
socks and obstacles as your guide, and you will learn it. Be sure to
start dashing before you reach the crumbling platform, but stop dashing
immediately after you cross it, or you will hit the hot coal flying in
front of you. Now continue to run normally and avoid obstacles until
you reach the 2nd checkpoint.

From the 2nd checkpoint, smash the column, glide through the 1st set of
3 socks, jump the hot coals, and dash through the 2nd set of 3 socks.
Run normally, and jump before reaching the last 3 socks, then dash the
last half of your jump through the 3 socks when the falling and rising
coals make a path for you. Dive immediately after you collect those
last 3 socks to smash the column. Jump the coals flying from the
right, and there is one last jump to reach the goal. If you missed 1
sock, you will still receive the trophy.

Level 132
There is no rush here, but you must have excellent control to collect
all 104 socks for a trophy. Just before the checkpoint, when you are
jumping the 4 waves of coals, you will have to glide for a fraction of
a second on each jump to clear the first 3 sets, then glide over the
4th set to reach the checkpoint (don't glide too far, or you will hit
the wall of hot coals just before the checkpoint). That is the
trickiest part of the course. The last half of the course just takes
some practice.

Level 133
There are no checkpoints, but this is a short course. Dash as much as
possible to stay ahead of the hot coals flying from the left. You are
only allowed to miss one sock to move on to the next course. If you
dash enough, you will get the trophy.

Level 134
From the start, take the high road, then the low road, then the high
road to find all the socks, and reach the 1st checkpoint.

From the 1st checkpoint, after the 2nd whirlwind, take the low road
with some difficult maneuvers to collect both golden socks. At the end
of the course, you will have to touch all the down arrows quickly, or
the lava will rise too high.

Level 135
In this course, you are allowed to miss one sock and still meet the
first challenge. Try to dash as much as possible to complete it in
less than 44 seconds to earn the last trophy.

After a few normal hazards, you will see 3 rows of hot coals fly toward
you. Hold down and use mini jumps to clear the 2 small obstacles and
get the 1st sock. Those 2 mini jumps will keep you under the first row
of coals. Jump and glide over the next row of coals. Keep gliding,
and if your angle is correct, you will glide straight under the 3rd set
of coals. When you reach the row of crumbling platforms, dash over
them. Dash under the falling coals, but run normally where the ceiling
is lower. Here you will perform a series of jump/dive maneuvers to
clear 4 waves of flying coals. Dash through the 2nd sock, and into the
mirror--the 1st checkpoint.

Exit the mirror with a short dash, and jump through the 3rd sock and
into the next mirror. Hold the glide button as you exit the mirror, or
you will fall into the lava. Control your falling and gliding through
a series of 3 down arrows to lower the lava. Glide through the switch.
After you pick up the 4rd sock, you will be forced through an up arrow,
raising the lava. Dash and jump across 2 crumbling platforms and into
the mirror. Hold the glide button again as you exit the mirror to
avoid the lava. Contol your fall/glide to the lowest mirror that the
lava will allow you to access. This is the 2nd checkpoint.

Dash out of the mirror for a short length, then run normally to
jump/dive over 3 sets of coals. Glide over the 3rd set of coals, and
keep gliding to just past the ledge, then dive (if you dive off the
very edge, you will hit the wall). Dive down to the platform, jump
over the thorns, and glide/dash downward. When the lava is gone,
continue dashing onto the floor. Dash under the falling coals, smash
the sword, dash under another set of falling coals, jump the thorns,
smash another sword, and dash into the mirror. This is the 3rd
checkpoint.

Exit the mirror to find a series of normal hazards and up arrows. If
you hit the up arrows, the lava will rise and you will have to start
from the checkpoint again. The 2 socks are positioned just after each
of the 2 down arrows, so you will have to dive at the last moment to
avoid the down arrows, and immediately dash both times to avoid the
falling spikes. Jump and dash across the crumbling platforms,
collecting the last 2 socks.

Jump again, then dash under the sword and through the goal. If you
collected at least 7 socks, you can press A to watch the credits.

Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------
Here are some questions that are often asked, in order of most frequent
to least frequent.

Q: What does the game title mean?
A: I have no definite answer, but will share what little I know. This
is the first question many of us thought of when we first saw this
title in the eShop. I consider myself an expert at Geki Yaba Runner
Deluxe, but I am in no way an expert at languages of the world.
American English is my first language. I know some college Spanish,
and nothing else. That being said, I did a little poking around the
internet out of curiosity, and here is what I found: I have not yet
determined if Gekiyaba (see eShop game description) or Geki Yaba is a
well-known character in coutries outside my United States, but I assume
not, since there is little to be found on the internet regarding these
names. It is probably only referring to a game of the same name which,
according to a YouTube search, is played on phones. I don't play phone
games, so I cannot go any further with that idea. I went on to look
into gekiyaba and geki yaba and geki and yaba as normal words, and
everything I've found seems to point to Japanese, even though the game
developer is in Poland. Geki generally points to a similar sounding
Japanese word for theater. Also, some searching points toward Japanese
words referreing to the releasing of ones wrath. Since rage is
mentioned more than once in the eShop description for this game, I am
inclined to guess that this is what the title of the game is referring
to. Perhaps this game is the theater where the gnomz unleash their
anger, or where we as players can get so frustrated by the difficulty
level that we exhibit rage--or maybe both.

Q: Why is there so much lag in this game?
A: Lag is almost a curse word in the video game industry. Some people
are calm about it, some people (like me) are mildly annoyed by it, some
people get offended and angry--or any reaction between these extremes.
I don't know for sure why there is so much lag, since the original had
none. I can assume it has to do with some courses being more complex,
and, therefore, harder for the system to process smoothly.

Q: How long is this game?
A: The answer depends on the skill of the player. My 3DS activity log
says it took me a little over 17 hours to earn all the trophies (except
Level 52), and I believe my skill level to be a high moderate. For
most people, expect to play for 15 to 20 hours if you want to clear all
the challenges. Here's an interesting piece of information for those
of you who enjoy trivia: After finishing this document, the activity
log shows over 37 hours. That means with going through the game again
and writing this document, I logged another 20 hours. (It was so much
fun.)

Q: What is the most difficult course?
A: This also depends on the player's specific skills. For me, the
most difficult course to finish was Level 127. The downward
falling/gliding at the end was particularly difficult because the lava
always seemed to lower too slowly, and gliding had to be very precise.
The most difficult course me to earn the trophy on was Level 92 by a
long shot. On Level 92 you have to perform 3 perfect dive-glides to
collect all the socks. I came back to this course after finishing
everything else. It took about 3 sittings, and I estimate having died
well over 1000 times before finally earning the trophy.

Q: What happens when you finish Level 135?
A: The top screen will show the same art you see when you first
initialize the software from the 3DS home menu (the Geki Yaba RUNNER
DELUXE title, 4 gnomz, a castle in the background, and socks all
around). The message, "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!", is shown above the
gnomz. Credits roll on the lower screen, then you automatically return
to the map screen.

Q: What happens when you earn all 135 trophies?
A: This is still unknown, since I have not found a way to get a trophy
on Level 52 yet. I will update this section if the glitch is fixed.

Q: There is a bridge on the map after Level 135. Are there more
courses to unlock?
A: It does look like the path goes on, and Level 135 does not appear
to be on the top of the mountain. This is unknown as yet. It would be
nice to see a few more courses unlock after earning all the trophies.
We will have to wait for a software update to know for sure.

Q: Why is this series so addictive?
A: Yes, the music is excellent. Yes, the gnomes are entertaining.
Yes, the graphics are colorful and fun. But I think what makes this
one of the best runner series is the fact that when you die, you do not
have to to back too far. If there were no checkpoints, I would not
even bother to finish this game. The developers are genius to make
sure the gnome starts again immediately after crashing, which makes you
want all the more to complete that stretch and reach the next
checkpoint. And, since the fast action is constant, and there are no
boring areas to have to drag yourself through after you die, it is so
much fun to try again, over, and over, and over...

Q: Why do you spend so much time writing an FAQ?
A: The short answer is that it is fun, and adds more enjoyment to a
game that I already enjoy. Here's the long answer: This question
seems to come up more and more, not only from asking myself, but other
people also ask. Some people think it is a waste of time to spend
hours writing something like this. When I finish a game that I really
enjoyed, I always wish there was a way to find more content. When
there is no more content, I find great joy in going back through the
game while writing a help file, so others, who would otherwise not be
able to finish the game, can finish it or make more progress. If even
one person gets some benefit from the document, it was more than worth
the time it took to write it. I checked the gamefaqs.com statistics
for my contributions, and it turns out that my 2 Fast 4 Gnomz text
documents have been accessed over 1000 times each. Writing this is
certainly not a waste of time.
