       Shakuhachi is calling
       October 16th, 2026
       ----------------------------------------

My hobbies are legion, but my interest and attention rotates
through them in a meandering path. I wish I could hold that
attention still in one place a bit longer, and I also wish the
wandering followed a predictable path. Alas, no such luck.

I was recently hyped back on my shorthand practice and managed to
get through a difficult reading threshold. But that has waned.
I have supplies for bookbinding now, and I really should move on
that hobby since I intend to use it for gift giving this
Christmas, but it hasn't claimed me yet. Maybe this weekend?

The one that I feel bubbling back to the surface is my shakuhachi,
the Japanese bamboo flute. It's been quiet for most of this year.
Now I can hear it in my dreams. I think about where it's waiting.
I've had the itch to pick it up come the past few nights, just too
late to do so without being a nuisance to neighbors. I think it's
       time.

Are you like this? Do you cycle through things, or can you hold
steady to a hobby for longer than 2 months at a time?
