Should homelessness be allowed to exist

I spent this morning flipping through videos in a doomscroll. One
of the last ones involved some people talking about socialism and
capitalism, free markets, and all the normal stuff that comes with
it. There weren't any surprises in the talk, but I did come away
with a question. The way the discussion was going touched on
normal talking points for a given political spectrum usually
without spending time to question things any deeper.
Should homelessness be allowed to exist?
If I can break the discussion free of the canned response, free
from the mindset of defending an economic or governance model and
just engage with the question itself for a moment, I think that's
a better way to get at the heart. I've given no context here, no
specific examples, no distinction on what causes might lead to
homelessness or the state of the human who finds themself without
a home. The question is broader and more basic. Should that be
a possibility allowed to exist at all?
I'm not going to rant from there or take this any further. I would
just like to recommend you spend 2 minutes with it. Like,
literally 120 seconds, uninterrupted. Really consider it and then,
when you're done, let yourself think about what your decision
means for broader questions.
