The Broken Capsule -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author(s): Mat Westhorpe Genre: Science Fiction Website: http://www.brokencapsule.com/ Language: en First Publication Date: 2013 License: Shareware Forgiveness Rating: Nasty Rating: 3.0 (based on 4 ratings) ABOUT THE STORY Part text adventure, part game review, The Broken Capsule puts its tongue firmly in its cheek as it puts you in the role of an EVE 'capsuleer', a player in the massively multiplayer sci-fi game, EVE Online. In the real EVE Online, players can take control of spaceships and participate in huge battles, trade and explore. In the text adventure... not so much. The Broken Capsule lampoons numerous mistakes which were made during EVE Online's tumultuous 10+ year history, particularly the day the developers decided to force every one of its 100s of 1000s of players out of their spaceships and into an empty, pointless room which made computers overheat. This is what happens when technology (and game design) fails. [Further info: The author also researched and wrote narration for the 'A Tale of Internet Spaceships' documentary (available on YouTube) which focuses on the real impact of the events which are made light of in this Interactive Fiction.] EXTERNAL LINKS Downloadable HTML Right-click to save and play offline.
