AIPS is the Astronomical Image Processing System. It is primarily used by Radio Astronomers for reduction, calibration and analysis of synthesis array data such as from the Very Large Array and Very Long Baseline Array. It can handle data both in image form (FITS) and "UV" format (fourier domain). It has been used for optical, X-Ray Astronomy and Medical Imaging.
