Information:
Sysdaemon is a system monitor daemon, written in Perl 5. Since it is reasonably generic, it should be suitable for many different UNIXs.
The program's purpose is to monitor the components that make up a UNIX server. For example, your UNIX server functions as a whole due to components like sendmail, inetd, named and httpd servers.
At a user-specified time interval, a configuration file containing the server daemons that you want to monitor is scanned. If one is found to be missing, an e-mail is sent to your support team.
If Hylafax or another paging system is in use, the e-mail could be redirected to page your support team as well.
