mvComicsMaker is a free, Qt-based graphics editor for creating animations in Linux.
Working with mvCM, you are able to use bitmapped images with vector graphics.
You can also combine indexed pictures with true color pictures.
However, you can't create new bitmap pictures.
You can render a completed animation into MVA or FLC format.
The main idea behind mvCM is to help animators calculate frames.
