This program provides a full alternative to the X11 Window System, allowing you to replace X with Athene's VESA based graphics drivers and desktop technology. Athene supports its own natively written software and is also backwards compatible with X11 programs.

The Athene desktop features a responsive interface, translucency and alpha blending effects, unicode support, and high-resolution icons.
