Aim of the Jahrbuch Project
The Jahrbuch Project provides a database of
the "Jahrbuch über die Fortschritte der Mathematik" (JFM) and a digital
archive of the most important mathematical publications of the period
1868 -1942.
The JFM database and the digital archive will be presented in the
World Wide Web. The project will provide free access to the database JFM and the
digital archive for everyone from all over the world. In more
detail: the Jahrbuch Project will enclose
creatinga database of the JFM in
different steps
digitalization of the printed issues of the JFM
enrichment of the original data by mathematicians and librarians:
classification regarding the Mathematical Subject Classification 2000
description by english keywords
evaluation and selection for the digital archive
supplements to the bibliographic data
(e.g. different forms of the names of the
authors or various types of journal titles)
creating a digital archive
scanning the relevant publications (up to 20 % of all publications)
linking to the scanned documents starting from the JFM database
presentation and long-time-storage in a document-management system
The JFM database will serve as a portal for the user to find
mathematical publications of the period 1868-1942.
