Aims and scope:
The Electronic Journal of the Argentine Society of Computer Science
and Operations Research (SADIO) arose from the decision of establishing
a scientific information service on the disciplines that it represents:
Computer Science, Information Technology and Operations Research.
The new service should become a meeting point for the national
and Latin-American community, a permanent means of knowledge,
communication and updating for all the professionals of the area,
from academy or industry; making use of the dissemination capabilities
of the Internet. We will work towards that goal, with the support
of all our community.
The purpose of this document is twofold: on one hand, it has to
serve as a presentation of this new publication, on the other
hand it is an invitation to participate in this project that,
we hope, will not only be the project of SADIO but of the whole
CS, IT and OR community of the country and the region.

Main characteristics of the publication:
The journal will contain the following sections:
Format of the journal
The journal will be open to the different alternatives that present
technology provides to electronic publication. We believe that
at this point it is convenient to be as flexible as possible and
incorporate new tools as they become available and necessary.
For that reason, contributors to the Journal will be invited to
propose formats to the Editors, being the final decisions a responsibility
of the latter.
The first issue
We have already anticipated some of the features of the journal. However, we believe that the best way to achieve our high-quality goal is to start little by little. For that reason, we plan to start only with just part of them.
More concretely, the first issue will be dedicated to the XXVI
JAIIO, the 26th Annual Argentine Conference of CS and OR, that
was held from August 11 to 15 in Buenos Aires. That issue will
contain from 10 to 15 full papers, that will be selected among
the 42 original research papers presented in the five different
symposia that composed the conference. For this occasion, the
program committee presidents of WAIT, ASOO, SOST, SIO and Redes
will be Invited Editors, choosing the best presented works, inviting
their authors to prepare full versions and submitting them to
a final revision by anonymous referees to allow a final selection.
Publication of the first issue is expected for February 1998.
Subsequent issues of the journal will contain the research
papers, surveys and ongoing research sections, while other sections
will be added progressively.
