This directory contains the complete distribution of the interactive graph 
visualization system daVinci for Intel PC's with Linux. The current version 
is daVinci V1.4.2. Refer to the user manual (docs/user_manual.ps) for further 
details. If you are updating from daVinci V1.3, you should read the transition 
guide (docs/transition_guide.ps). 

CHANGES

is an ASCII file with the changes from version to version. Please read this
file if you're familiar with other daVinci versions, to be informed about
relevant changes.

README_linux
------------
A file containing special informations for the Linux distribution of daVinci.
It contains especially informations about the Linux and XView versions, that
were used to compile daVinci.

application
-----------
is a directory containing the example of a graph administrating daVinci
application. Such an application can be connected with daVinci; the 
communication between both programs is done by pipes. An application is able 
to use daVinci as an abstract user interface. The user manual will give you 
the details.

daVinci
-------
is a binary file, compiled for Intel PC's with the Linux operating system. 
You don't have to install daVinci, just call it from a shell. But it's a good 
idea to read the installation chapter in the user manual first. Here you can 
find informations about hard- and software requirements as well as shell 
variables which has to be set to use certain features of daVinci.

docs
----
is a directory containing documents about daVinci.

example_graphs
--------------
is a directory containing some graph examples in a term representation which 
could be visualized with daVinci. Here you can find some status files for
daVinci also.

grapheditor
-----------
is a directory containing a grapheditor for daVinci.

images
------
is a directory with some images in X11-bitmap format. These images are used
for icons in the visualization of graph 'example_graphs/icons.daVinci'. To
use icons, you have to set shell variable DAVINCI_ICONDIR (refer to manual).

man
---
is a directory containing manual pages.

tools
-----
is a directory containing some tools.
