Installation notes 0.3.2

The supplied binaries have been tested on both libc5 and libc6
Slackware Linux installations, under versions of blackbox up to 0.61.1

If the supplied binary 'resourceFileEditor' does not work on your system:

  cd ~/.blackhome/config/rfe
  make install

If the program now runs, either remove the rfe subdir by hand, or 'make pristine'
in this directory, which does it for you.

See .blackhome/config/README for further details on this and on rebuilding
installTheme and installImage.

If you do not have Xaw3d, the 3D version of X Athena Widgets, you may get
compilation errors when you run 'make' in .blackhome/config/rfe. If you
only have Xaw ( 'locate libXaw' shows you whether you have or not ), you
will probably have to change the references to it the header (.h) files.
Simply replace occurrences of 'Xaw3d' with 'Xaw'. Also do this in
.blackhome/config/rfe/Makefile.

Apart from this Xaw3d looks much better. The primary reason for using the Athena
widget set is to maximise compatibility.

Another potential problem could be with the X libs; these default to
/usr/X11R6/lib. Standard includes are assumed to be in /usr/include. If these
are different on your system, edit .blackhome/config/rfe/Makefile.

The label widget displaying the theme name in RFE doesn't resize with fonts too
well; you can adjust the width of the label so it is correct for your theme and
font by adjusting the width specified in

  ~/.blackhome/app-defaults/ResourceFileEditor-<themeName>

Edit the line 'ResourceFileEditor*topLabelWidth: 110' to suit your default
font. The maximum number of menu items displayed at any one time can also be set
in this file: the default is 'ResourceFileEditor*maxMenuItems: 30'.

As usual, in case of insoluble problems, or if you just need help, email me.

Please read 'blackhome.HOWTO' section 1, 'Installation' as this gives some
helpful tips. Also a look at RFE-quickstart.guide would be useful.
