EPIC is the (E)nhanced (P)rogrammable (I)RC-II (C)lient.

EPIC is 100% backwards compatable with ircII becuase EPIC *is* ircII.
EPIC is originally built upon the ircII client. But what EPIC offers
you is much, much more in the way of features. With almost 40
functions, 8 commands, and 8 more ons then even the newest ircII2.6
client, EPIC is certainly the choice you should make for ircII. EPIC
is 100% u2.9 compatable (undernet) and is in fact the only client that
natively supports all the u2.9 commands and numerics.

EPIC is derived directly from IRC-II which is currently maintained by
Matthew Green, and includes in whole all the additions included in the
"plus" clients by Jeremy Nelson and all of the modifications in the
"mod" clients by Jake Khuon. EPIC is currently maintained by the core
group of Jeremy Nelson, Jake Khuon, Alex Skrabut, and Robert Chady.
You can get a copy of the EPIC client from

	ftp::rush.cc.edu:/irc/ircii/ircii2.8-EPIC2pre1.4.tar.gz
	ftp::lori.albany.net:/pub/users/khuon/irc/clients/ircII.CURRENT
	telnet rush.cc.edu 22 | uudecode (epic 1.003)

EPIC is completely safe: There are no hidden trap doors. We value your
trust, and will not do anything to abuse it.

EPIC is programmable: While ircII does contain a wide range of commands
and functions, several glaring ommisions exist, which EPIC has attempted
to fill, making the ircII language complete, precise, and efficient.

EPIC supports bots: We do not agree with those who feel that script bots
are all the evil of irc, and we feel that scripts bots must not be
squelched by those who have the stranglehold of control on irc. EPIC will
support bots for as long as we maintain it.

EPIC is not anal retentive: EPIC allows you to do EVERYTHING that the irc
protocol (RFC 1459) allows, and does not place any arbitrary restrictions
upon you. EPIC *does* fully comply with the protocol and does not allow
you to do anything that is deemed illegal by the protocol.

EPIC is efficient: Many parts of the critical core of ircII have been
rewritten or optimized as has seemed neccesary

EPIC is complete: EPIC supplies over 50 various functions which allow you
to do things very quickly things that required very large or slow scripts
in the past.

EPIC is fully ANSI-compliant. Not even the most current of standard ircII
clients can make this claim. Every function declaration is prototyped, and
every function header has both an ANSI and a K&R header available.

EPIC is unwieldly (Added by the demand of the core tester group ;-) EPIC
currently is not a "mass market" client, but requires that the user who
is using it have a minimum of "cl00s" about how ircII works. EPIC is a
full 30% bigger then the stock client (averaged over several OSs)
