JBoom may be installed as a programm or
as an applet. Using it as a program is more
comfortable, but requires a "remote controllable" browser
(see documentation). CHoose the program mode, if one of the
following applies:

Your OS is Windows or MacOS;

Your browser is Firefox oder Mozilla.

You may choose between a local and a
remote installation. A local installation has to be done
on each client. If you install the program remotely, it has to be done
only once, afterwards the program can be started from any client using
Java webstart (utility
javaws
from the JRE). The only precondition
is that you ave write access to any HTTP server. Many providers offer
a sufficient amount of web space for free, so this should not be a problem.

Finally you have the choice between a simple and
an expert installation. In simple mode, files are
installed under standard names, and you have to make only a few
inputs. In expert mode you have more influence on the locations
of program and configuration files, and have to enter more data.
